Thursday's ladies night.. Love it! The food is so good, highly recommend the baked brie... And the drinks are wonderful!

Decent food, nice cocktails, and a good tap list. A little on the spendy side though.

I'm sad to see that this place gets worse reviews compared to the snobby and overpriced Marche. The food is much better and more affordable with a nearly identical menu (gourmet local, I'd call it). When I say the food is "better", I mean that it is less artsy and more about pleasing a variety of palettes than impressing critics. I agree with the other reviews: they need to work on the noise control. They should replace the pine chairs with something upholstered...two birds with one stone! I really enjoyed the ambiance. You can treat this place as casual or fancy; both fit. And the jazz band last night was superb. Our waitress was perfect. Couldn't have asked for more, especially on such a busy "First Friday" night.

First time there after advice the lunch was good. Great service, nice and quiet. Good portion sizes and a yummy chopino soup special. Never been there for late night but I would recommend the lunch anytime.

Davis is great. I have eaten many, many lunches there; all delicous. My only complaint is that they often will sell out of a menu item really early into the day. But in this economy, I can forgive that. For drinks, friendly bar staff, and enjoyed the recommendations for martinis, and enjoyed the hummus/tzatzkiki/baba ganoush plate. A good time. I really like their veggie sandwich for lunch - great bread, good portabello, nice all around. I also really like their chicken caesar salad. Crisp, lovely, and delicious. I like the atmosphere, the service is good, and all around, it's a nice downtown place to eat, with good food.

I've been here twice, both for late night "events". The first time was amazing, techno music was blaring and drunk college students were truly feeling the music. The second time was dead, no music, no one in the bar, not a fun experience. Go on techno night. Even if you hate techno music, go anyway.

Davis is the perfect lunch spot. Located in the middle of downtown night life, the restaurant might be the only decent place to get a bite of food on a weekday afternoon. With contemporary decor and a full bar, one could easily take a business lunch with clients or just a quick P.M pick me up with a sandwich and a pint of beer. I ordered the Bleu Cheese Burger, topped with tobacco seared onions and swiss cheese. Easily one of the best burgers I have had, and for eight dollars the value is right. The server was also patient enough with me to let me sample a variety of local micro beers before I settled on a Willamette Valley Red Ale.

Decided to give Davis a try. It was a Wednesday night. Not super busy. We just happened to try them out on the first night of the brand new menu. We enjoyed out dinner choices. Bacon wrapped meatloaf and steak skewers with grilled vegetables. We also tried a side of mac & cheese, which was one of the best mac & cheese dishes I've had in a long time. The best part was the martini. It was named "The Sexy". Not on the menu by the way. It was orange juice, grapefruit juice, vodka and a drop of chambord that sinks to the bottom. Served in a sugared rim with a slice of grapefruit. DELISH! It's on Broadway right in the heart of downtown and this area was surprisingly busy for a Wedsnesday evening. I love that!

I brought my Valentine's date to Davis' because I had read a number of great reviews. That evening, however, was anything but spectacular. The staff was hurried and not informed of which items on the menu were sold out, and the meals were very expensive for the tiny amounts on the plates. I ordered the full order of Beef Tenderloin, and my plate arrived with two (yes: 2) small cuts. I expected more out of a full order (and a $30 price tag). I'm curious how many customers ordered the half order and had one slice show up on their plate (for the great price of $17.99)! Davis' take on Mac and Cheese, however, was very tasty. Unfortunately, my date woke up early that morning with a nasty case of food poisoning. She was sick for the entire following day. I'm sorry Davis', but I will not be coming back to you anytime soon. I'll leave my money at a finer establishment next year.

Davis is a great bar! and a great restaurant! it's an interesting place - during dinner hours it is very calm and feels pretty upscale. the food is really really good, and the service is great. later in the night it turns into a dance club. great music, great people, great bartenders! Thursday night is ladies night with half off appetizers and drink specials. there is also a side bar that is good for private parties if you rent it out. every time i've been here the bartenders are on top of things, and no matter how busy it is they i have always been able to get a drink quickly. they want to make their patrons happy, and are always hustling to get drinks and help people quickly.

This is a great lunch spot. The food is very good, most notably the mushroom pot pie which is made with local shrooms. The prices are decent for the quality of food used. Parents Note: The staff is very toddler friendly and there are highchairs available. Lots of cool art on the walls are great distractions if your little one needs to get up and roam a bit while waiting for the food.

I got the Cesar Salad with prawns. The romaine leaves where whole, not chopped up. Nice appearance but the leaves where very tough and chewy. The dressing was so so and not enough of it. The prawns were barely warm if that. The server was nice and friendly but didn't keep the water glass full. The entertainment outside the window was different, lots of street people to keep you entertained. Glad I was on the inside.

The Davis is know for being a trendy bar with dancing on the weekends but during the week Monday-Friday from 4-6 they have one of the best happy hours in town. I always start with the crab fondue made with dungeness crab and a swiss/gouda blend that comes with these amazing little crispy rice wafers to dip with. I like to get the Pura Vida to fill my happy hour drink requirement, its refreshing and simple, basically just vodka and lime juice. I usually finish off with their burger, for $5 dollars you can get one of the juiciest, tastiest burgers in eugene that comes with a tomato paste, butter lettuce, and crispy shallots that taste like mini-onion rings on your burger and a side of crispy shoestring fries. If your looking for something besides a burger go for the pizza. The baby portobella pizza comes with caramelized onions and manchego, a sheeps milk cheese with a slightly smokey taste and the mushrooms are easily picked off if your not a fan of the fungi like myself.

I was here about a year ago early on a Friday night. All my friends had raved about this place and I figured I'd give it a try. The bar had our drinks to us quickly and they were excellent drinks. Sadly the compliments end there. The item I ordered was already gone and they substituted it for another menu item without asking. The meal was meh. No real flavors to speak of other than salt. My partner's meal looked good but didn't taste like anything. The portions were small and overpriced. I wouldn't go back for the food. A drink in an instant. Maybe it should be Davis Bar and Restaurant?

Lovely place to dine. Bright airy room, space between tables reasonable, service attentive but not overdone. Reasonably priced excellent presentations creative dishes. Portions not too large. Ladies night prices and happy hour menu a real bargain! Smoked trout salad was fabulous. Pate plate outstanding. I honestly could not have improved on our experience here!

The restaurant has a great atmosphere, unlike most other restaurants in town. The waitstaff was friendly and served us quickly. Our drinks were great. I ordered the pot pie, but was surprised when it arrived without a crust. They put a very delectable light puff pastry on top of the dish, which is their version of the pot pie crust. My date ordered the Caesar salad, and she wasn't that impressed. So, our first experience here was only so-so. I look forward to going back to see if my opinion changes.

Davis' was kind enough to host a private party for our non-profit's annual fundraiser. The party was a smashing success and a lot of fun; the bartenders were cute, flirty, and fun. The biggest downfall is the restaurant's absolute awful acoustics. Hardwood floor + high ceilings + one big room = NOISE. It was very difficult to hear the other people at my table, which is a shame, because they all had interesting things to say. For that, I have to deduct a star...but I'm not happy about it.

I haven't tried the food; I hear it is great. I only had one drink; it was delicious, but since I was going plain jane for the evening and just ordered a greyhound, it wasn't anything to write home about (what would you say: "fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice is a nice touch?") So I will level with you, loyal readers: I am giving it four stars because I danced my ass off and had a great time, and also because the art hanging on the walls right now is spiffy and I dig the decor. Also, it gets an extra star just because Eugene really needs nice lounge places, and this one is damn good. I was told I went on kind of a bad night, as the place was overrun by uber drunk fratboys wearing metallic beads, which is apparently unusual for this joint (and I can see why, what with its gorgeous but decidedly not plastic bartenders, luscious recessed lighting scheme, and the aforementioned fresh-squeezed juice issue). I just took the grunting fratboys colliding with benches and miniskirted dates as free comedy and danced the night away.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in town! The food is amazing and reasonably priced. Regularly they add new dishes to their menu and also they have verbal specials every day which are hard to resist. The drinks are AMAZING! They are all fresh squeezed and delish! This place is perfect for a dinner with your partner or just a couple of cocktails in the middle of the week with the girlfriends. The bartenders and the servers are knowledgeable, nice and professional. As far as i know thursday nights they have half off drinks and specials on apps for the ladies! Woohoo! On the weekend they have DJ, and the dance floor is always crowded, could be annoying sometimes but there is a lot of space where you could shake it. They have security and the annoying drunk people are asked to leave! It's safe! 5-stars place! Must visit!

It's one of the nicer looking bars in Eugene and they make pretty good drinks, but that's about all I can say that is positive about this place. Their djs are lame and the crowd sucks. They basically play a single house beat all night with snippets of songs mixed in, not at all impressive. Dancing there just gets boring. Also, their bouncers suck. They won't let you in if you're wearing a bandana, and no, my friends don't look like gang members. Plus, they almost always charge a cover to dance to their sucky music.

The service has been consistantly horrible in the evenings! We waited over 45 minutes to get our order, and several times I noticed our waitperson standing at the end of the bar and chatting. Then, after waiting we had to ask for our check. Had to RUN to make an event on time, even though we allowed 2 hours. The food tastes good but isn't a good value - it's too expensive for the amount you get.

I have to admit, I have a hard time making it here to review something until something terrible happens somewhere, but when I do I try to make sure & review the 2-3 great places I've been since - like this place. Soo, my great experiences here were 2-4 yrs ago, but anyhow, we looved the ceviche tower with the chips, the caesar salad, & once had a greeat pork dish. Nice ambiance, at least reasonably attentive folks (not common in Oregon!), good wine, great drinks, dance nights, great place! Oh & they'd deliver take-out around the corner to Lucky's for free:)

Oh yummy cucumber-mint-Malibu rum juleps, you are absolutely beautiful; almost as beautiful as your resident Mixologists. Then, don't even get me started about the food. I went here with my mother, sister and my 2 small children this last Saturday; one of many pleasant and memorable visits to the wonderful Davis. There was most definitely something to suit everyone's palette. Ahi tuna and avocado ceviche, along with the a lobster fondue were among my 1 year olds favorites. My 4 year old enjoyed the caesar salad with added grilled chicken and prawn. The butternut squash ravioli was delightful served in a light, flavorful and creamy sauce. The wine selection here is also superb. Oh, and be sure to finish off with an amazing vanilla bean speckled creme brûlée or a white chocolate-berry compote mousse....mmmm, fluffy & delish! I love that most dishes can be split into "tapa size" so you can try more/ order more items. Great happy hour menu 4-6 weekdays as well. This place can't be missed...an ever changing menu along with superb waitstaff (Go see Jody, shes a favorite, and not bad on the eyes ;-) which will always have you leaving satisfied, happy and begging for more....

A group of my friends went bar hoping downtown Eugene last night. We were dancing at Davis for a little bit when I realized my card was outside with my friend and I needed to go get it to buy drinks for everybody. I made eye contact with the bouncer, walked out, got my card, opened the door to walk in looked at the bouncer (because surely he saw me dancing and talking to people in the bar) walked in, got about 10 ft in when I was physically grabbed and dragged out of the bar, for no obvious reason.... my card was in my hand and we were on our way to get patron shots. This was incredibly embarrassing and pretty much ruined my night. I was forced to stand outside by myself until I could get ahold of my friends that were already in davis waiting for me, a group of 8 ppl left Davis because of this. The bar itself is nice and the bartenders were fun while I was in the bar but the security is a joke. I would recommend a different bar if your trying to have a good time and not be man handled .................

I was walking by the Davis when I saw Chris the old bar manager of Adams place pouring drinks behind the bar, it was then when I realized "hey" another place to get a great martini baby!! For those of you who are not aware of the spots potential as a nite-spot for well fed hotties and their (sadly) Axe Cologne wearing counterparts it's a great lunch and meeting place for Business groups and professionals as well. Something that downtown Eugene sorely needed I think it's a little pricey, but (then again) I'm a cheapskate. The back room could and probably does hold a small convention, but in short, it's nice to have a place in the middle of downtown that the suits can go to where it doesn't involve a bagel. Oh & for all of the stuck up non-drinking folk remember that business on earth is done over a drink (or golfing) & it's O.K. to have a martini lunch just don't be a dumb ass & drive.

The food in this place is really good and the prices are super reasonable. Visiting from out of town it was a nice surprise to find the davis. My only sug gestion is what most people are saying about the place and that is that the service is sub par. You can hear the kitchen "order up" bell and see your food in the window and no one grabbing it. Apps come out the same time as the other food and having to ask for silverware wraps and having an empty water glass. Nothing a good manager or training could not fix. Still leaving 4 stars tho because the food was really good and there was nothing wrong with our cocktails.

Don-Mike (DM) made our Valentine's date truly memorable. His creativity in taking initiative with cocktails was impressive. His knowledge of the classic drinks was impressive as well, and his experience with making infusions was evident. The special rabbit rouladen was excellent; clearly the chef is highly skilled, however the bar is where it's at! Thanks DM for making our first time in being something to look forward to repeating soon!

The best happy hour in Eugene, easily. Four dollar signature cocktails, decent beer and wine, and great deal. Burger and brew for 8 bucks. Also ribs and brew for 10 (I think). Creative specials, such as roasted piquillo peppers stuffed with crab and cream cheese swimming in a creamy sauce. Cauliflower with sherry sauce, roasted potatoes with chorizo and a poached egg, Peruvian black bean stew with a grilled tortilla. I have been three times, and all three times the server was gracious and attentive. I love the atmosphere, classy yet casual. Very clean, and cloth napkins. The garlic shrimp tapa is probably my favorite menu item. Very flavorful and tender shrimp. For the person complaining they don't have a good beer selection... The First National Taphouse is across the street. The Davis is a cocktail bar, in spite of their burger and brew special. Oh, and extra bonus points- when my friend asked if she could do a burger and brew with a cocktail instead of beer, they said , Yes of course, it might just be a dollar extra. I love it when places don't act like its a huge hassle to make changes. I have a happy hour group that meets regularly, and The Davis is the group favorite. We have come twice and we will return!

My friends and I hit Davis on Thursdays for Ladies Night. The drinks are yummy and creative and the food is delish. My faves are the margherita pizza for $8 (I think) and the BLT sliders. So good. I was apprehensive going to a "bar" on the Eugene Mall. There are areas that are sketchy. Davis is an oasis and the interior is classy but casual. It's a keeper!

The Davis has undergone quite a few changes over the past couple of years. I think my three-year-old review deserves an update. First off, I want to note that Davis really deserves two separate reviews: one for the bar/club and one for the restaurant. Having said that, I also want to point out that the gap between those two aspects of the business seems to have widened over time. Whereas three years ago, I would constantly see the place packed with business lunchers, last week my man and I were the only people there from 12 - 12:45 on a Thursday. Late night is now the only time I see the seats packed here. And I think the change is for obvious reasons. On my last visit, for example, I noticed that the menu offerings were limited. I ordered the cheesesteak sandy, and didn't even eat the bread--it was covered all over with small white fuzz...like it had been wrapped in a linty dishtowel. The meat is locally sourced, though, and I did enjoy it. Hubs had a salad, with balsamic vinegar and oil, and both the o and the v tasted very stale, sort of like they had been stored in an open container above a stove for awhile. The jalapeno tots we shared had a faint aftertaste of cold (and old) fryer oil. Although nothing was necessarily send-it-back bad, I have experienced better.

I don't know why, it's been years since I went to the Davis, but I will definitely be back soon. Dinner was delicious, service was attentive but not annoying, bartender was friendly. Our table had the fried chicken, unique in that it is pickle brined before frying. Moist, flavorful and different from typical fried chicken. Served with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. Yummy comfort food. Also the Culotte steak with crab, mashed potatoes, cooked greens and a spicy cheese sauce. And another steak dish I've forgotten the name of, with mixed vegetables (fresh and perfectly sauteed) and a chimichurri sauce. Steaks cooked perfectly to our order. Portions were generous. Loved looking over the rest of the menu, can't wait to go back and share an assortment of the small plates.

After waiting far too long for water and menus, our server stepped it up. We got the shrimp in garlic wine sauce, roasted beet and chèvre salad and the 3 cheese macaroni. Everything tasted great and all came at the same time! The waiter even brought their housemade tomatillo ketchup(which was unique, but would have gone better with another dish) along with the traditional ketchup I had requested! He also brought fresh grilled bread free of charge to dip in all of the delicious left over shrimp sauce. This is consistent with past experiences here, I will be back!

I really hate writing this review because I have always loved The Davis. It has always been my go to lunch place!! But....we went for happy hour this week and I have to say that the beer selection is horrible (why all the IPA's) - the menu was all wrong - they didn't' have hardly any of the beers listed on the menu! The waiter apologized but the fact is - this is a microbrew town, please have some good beers on the menu or at least have the beers that are ON the menu!! On a better note, the mac and cheese and the burger and fries were delicious - love the shoestring fries!! The Ahi ceviche was tasty but it used to be diced much smaller - it is in large chunks now and hard to dish up on the chips given. Please go back to the smaller chunks!! The service was much better than we have had in the past. We used to come here for the risotto but have not seen it on the menu in a while - please bring it back - it was always a winner!! WHAT IS WITH THE WEBSITE - PLEASE POST YOUR MENU.

I would have given The Davis 4 stars if I were just reviewing the food. The BLT sliders are delicious as well as everything else I've ever had here. But I'm deducting 2 stars for the wait time. Waiting 15 minutes to even be acknowledged at the door before waiting 5 more minutes for a table when the restaurant wasn't even half full is absolutely unacceptable. We then waited another 10 minutes before any of the wait staff realized they had given us a water carafe without drinking glasses and I can't even tell you how long the wait was for our food. We received our appetizers within a fairly timely manner but waited for almost half an hour after finishing our starters for our main entrees.

I'm done with Davis. I've had a series of less than stellar encounters with this restaurant, but the one that takes the cake happened last Thursday. I used to love Davis for happy hour, so we called ahead to see how late it went. We get there early and grab a seat and they tell us, oh sorry, no happy hour menu because we are "rearranging things." Determined to have a good time we ask if they could just knock off a couple of bucks on the appetizers and drinks since we came for happy hour. The waitress runs off to check while we sit and wait. This process takes so long she returned with a "sorry, but it's after happy hour time." You've got to be kidding me. WORST.

I recently went with a large group of people to Davis and had a wonderful time! The staff was very attentive and charming. We had shown up for happy hour and everything the group ordered of the menu was really good. The dessert menu was lacking variety but other than we had a great time.

Ok Rosalie R. I am giving The Davis a second look. And you are correct, everything in this world unless totally egregious needs at least a second look. Today being a Friday and at 1230, there are only two other patrons here. As I stated before, this is a great place in terms of ambiance, although parking can be a bear. The restaurant portion has had a bit of a remodel and the bar itself is in a different place than it was before. This time through I have ordered the Caesar and the braised short ribs. I also as usual have ordered my Arnie Palmer. Made with a tart lemon juice, tastes good, but right at my limits for tartness. Personal preference here folks. My Caesar comes out, see photo and I like to be able to have the biting saltiness of the sardines and this salad is perfect for that. Nice touch with the lemon wedge as well. Well dressed and shaved Parmesan this salad rocks. The warm olive oil infused bread was also a very nice touch on the salad. Service has been attentive and appropriate this time, your typical eclectic knee high sock wearing server. The service has been professional and warm at the same time. Much better than my last experience here. Now for the braised short ribs. Two words....fork tender deliciousness! OK that's three but you get the point. Tender, succulent and all around deliciousness abound in this meal and an unsung hero is the wonderfully sautéed potatoes that accompany your ribs. About 20 more ribs would have satisfied my hunger for these bad boys. Wonderfully done The Davis!

  • C C.

My only concern about this great place is that I don't see as many people there as the menu deserves. I've never ordered a dish at Davis that I didn't enjoy. The drinks are great and the wine and beer selection just right. The menu changes so there are always surprises but a few dishes, like the lamb flatbread with smoked tomato slaw, deserve to be ordered whenever available. Chris the bartender is a welcoming presence and I've always had excellent service from him as the table staff. The only downside, in my humble opinion, is that the decor and ambiance are just blah. Even though there are windows along two sides of this corner location, it always feels dark and dreary inside. Brightening up the color scheme and investing in warm and cozy lighting could be all it would take for Davis to knock it out of the park!

If you look through the Yelp reviews on Davis, and sort them by date, you'll notice a VERY sharp decline in star ratings since The Davis remodeled and changed their menu. I used to love The Davis, they had amazing food, I had a wonderful savory bread pudding here, great pastas, and the best sliders I've ever had: BLT on gougere. So when a trip to another restaurant didn't work out (for some reason Carmelita Spats closed the kitchen by 9 when they are open until 10 and normally do happy hour 9-10), I immediately suggested going to The Davis. We got here by 9.15pm and it was very quiet. About 6 or 7 tables taken, and five people or so at the bar. So we stand by the door waiting for someone to seat us and hand us some menus. And we wait, and wait. We get ignored no matter how long we stand there staring at the staff. Okay... I grab a menu, look through it, and it's really disappointing. Nothing looks great, but we're hungry and it's already the second place we've tried, so we stand there, menus in hand, waiting. Finally I walk up to the bar, arriving at the same time as someone else. There are five people sitting at the bar who clearly don't need help, there's nobody standing, and there are THREE bartenders, so they're well overstaffed in preparation for the Saturday late night crew. A female bartender comes up to us, helps the man next to me, without acknowledging me, and when they are done, she walks away. Walks. Away. Without acknowledging me, without saying hi, without looking me in the eye. She just goes to the other side to do nothing important (the guy is gone, she's not helping him), ignoring me entirely. What the fuck. At that point I turned around, signaled to my friend, and we walked straight out of The Davis, never to return.

The Davis has changed a bit since I first started going, mainly in that they don't do their own infused liquors anymore which was something that I really enjoyed about them - they had this vanilla-orange bourbon that was incredible and a few other really nice ones. They still have a really nice menu and I love that they have ladies' night every week (maybe Thursday? I can't remember, it's actually been awhile). They had a stellar beef carpaccio at one point, which may or may not still be available. My most recent meals there have mainly consisted of salads and happy hour fare and have all been quite nice. This was another place that my rotaract club used to meet at and they were okay about it - we were actually told we could use their side room (unless it was reserved for another party) which has doors and is separate from the main area but it was literally "reserved" every time we met there so we always had to sit in the main room. It wasn't too bad since we met at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and there usually weren't too many other patrons but the music was always quite loud and occasionally the service was a bit lacking. But seeing as how those were unusual circumstances I won't hold it against them.

Short version: Craaaaaapp!!!! Slightly longer version: Rude, dishonest, quick to chuck people at the slightest sign of drunkenness (I'm sorry, you're a BAR. People get drunk at bars). Full story: The best thing about this place is the coat check girl. She's super friendly and cheerful. If you, against all reason, go to this place, tip her well. It's got to be difficult working with these conceited jerks. This is the place that your friend drags you to because she has a crush on the bartender/DJ/person in her class who might be there. You go get pounded by the pointless music & humped by strange dudes (even if you're not dancing), and deal with crappy service (excepting the coat check, of course). But you're a good friend so you wingwoman for your friend. I hope she gets laid because, man. It's otherwise not worth it. The last time I was there, the blonde, messy-haired bartender was rude to my boyfriend, who had patiently waited at the busy bar and even let people go ahead of him, then made my "margarita" with NO ALCOHOL. I thought I was imagining things, but it was the first drink of the night for both of us, and neither of us could taste any alcohol. Our DD friend (not drinking at all), couldn't taste it either. You could taste it faintly in boyfriend's margarita, though. Finally, it didn't *feel* like there was any alcohol in it. I paid $5.50 for a plastic cup full of lime juice. Not cool. They put everything in plastic cups after a certain point in the night. So even if you get something that you know is what you actually ordered (like Knob Creek), it tastes weird. They charge a cover. The 80s DJ is worth it (but slip out to ANYWHERE else to get your drink on between songs). The others who have raped my eardrums are total crap. A girl walking past me - obviously sober - slipped & had to argue not to be kicked out. I'll give them credit for coming out with a mop pretty quickly after someone (not in this woman's party) dropped their drink, however the ground was still wet and fairly slick. They also kicked a friend of mine out at 6pm, when he'd gotten there right after work, before he'd even had a drink. I haven't eaten here but the food pictures are hilarious. What's with the pile of romaine? How do you even eat that? I haven't been to Cowfish, but it's got to be better than this place. Davis is fancier, but they have attitudes to match. If they weren't in this tiny college town, they'd be laughed out of business. Blech.

I've never been to this place when it functions as a restaurant until last week for a goodbye dinner with friends and I regret it because I'm moving! I've always enjoyed the space at night when it functions as one of few spots in town with a dance floor and decent music, but I wish I came here more often for the food and drinks! Everything was moderately priced, delicious and filling. I ordered two small dishes, though one would've likely sufficed with like a side dish. The crab stuffed peppers and cheese filled pastries were a bit heavy, but yummy. I liked the peppers best and the filling is a great spread for the accompanying bread. I feel like eating a full pepper alone would be too much. I had the Money cocktail on the suggestion of a friend, which was not too sweet and a little refreshing (I can't recall what it was made of, but I think the latter might have been because of cucumber use). Service wasn't too bad either. My waitress was nice and the food came pretty quickly. All in all, I wish I could come back to this space before I leave the EUG.

We came here yesterday around 5pm to try out the Happy Hour...and a happy hour it was. They have a great HH menu with diverse options ranging from BLT Sliders, a Pub Salad made with arugula and a tasty bacon vinaigrette, personal pizza's, bruschetta, and a burger and brew option. I went with the burger and brew for $9.00 which was served with a side of sweet tater fries. I have to say my burger was fantastic. It's a 1/2 lb burger that was all over my hands dripping with juice and goodness. The high point was the quality of the burger. You can put as much condiments on a burger as you want to dress it up, but nothings beets a fresh tasting patty. I paired it with an Oakshire Amber that was a great fit, served in a frosty mug, I was one happy fella. The wife had the pub salad which was great! Bacon Vinaigrette is a thing of beauty! The cocktails they make are delicious as well. My favorite was, "Money". It's Vodka and Cucumber juice with salt and sugar on the rim. A refreshing sipping drink. The Sexy was attractive too. It was garnished with a grapefruit and had a great mix of sweet and tart...perfectly balanced. I like the feel of this place too. It's classy, yet not over the top, well lit, clean... it puts you in the mood for a good time.

My roommate and I visited here and granted we are under the age of 21 and were just dining, not drinking or using the bar, we still deserve adequate service. We were ignored throughout the night and when we did have the attention of our server, she was rude and short with us. The food was pretty good but the service was awful. Our waitress seemed much more interested in flirting with the group of business men next to us than taking care of us at all. I can't stand places that think they are too good to serve all populations. This restaurant is prejudice against ages and it is not cool.

Impressed. Anyone who loves and craves a perfect martini would be too. Tonight I ordered a martini, and it looked like this: 1. Ice and water to chill the glass 2. Free pour Sapphire Into a pint of ice 3. Shake vigorously 4. Pour in vermouth, swirl around and dump in the sink 5. Pour off the gin and rest a couple of pimento-stuffed olives spiked along a toothpick on the rim of the iced glass 6. Slide that martini across the bar with a smile and a wink Terrific. This woman knows how to make a drink.

My experience here was a different one- Andrew and I kind of just tricked in after a show around 10pm to get some dessert. Our waiter was really charismatic and helpful. We ended up splitting a reuben ($7 and soooooo gooooood), and an apple "enchilada" type dessert. The dessert was okay- the apple compote was fresh but a little bland, along with the... crepe things(?), but the cream was house whipped and perfect. We will probably be back for dinner sometime-the menu looked great (and affordable)!!

It's confusing as to why Davis isn't more packed and popular. Davis has a quality happy hour with fine cocktails for $4, and a quality burger and brew special. I normally opt for a la carte and appetizers. But, everything I have had so far is on par with top quality Eugene cuisine. I tend to sit at the bar where the service has always been excellent. In terms of price vs. quality that you get at Davis, I think this is hands down one of the best deals in town. Recommended.

The owner allowed us to break in their VIP section after the club had been recently remodeled for a joint birthday celebration. Our group got the VIP treatment and were very well taken care of. We were right next to the DJ booth, had a red velvet rope, and given ice buckets for our champagne. Security was very attentive and didn't let random people not in our group over to our area. The DJ, ReddFox, played great music that was fun to dance to. Chris the bartender made sure that we had a great time and had everything we needed. He really sold us on this place and gave great customer service. While Eugene doesn't have the most amazing nightlife, Davis is a nice surprise. If I ever want to have an event in Eugene where drinking and dancing are involved, I will go here.

I'm always happy with my food here. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but always friendly and professional. I highly recommend the BLT sliders, so good! The garlic shrimp is divine with garlic, butter, chilies and basil, yum! I also recently discovered the homemade jalapeno tater tots, which are delish and a bargain at $4. I miss the ahi poke, but appreciate that they change up the menu periodically.

We come to this place to dance. And that's about the only thing I like about this place. They usually have pretty good music playing. The bar service, however, is not great. First, the bartenders aren't great at handling crowds of people. They also take a long time to make drinks. Additionally, I am skeptical that these bartenders are trained well enough to make drinks correctly. I ordered a Red Headed Slut (cranberry, Jaegermeister and peach schnapps)--all we ended up getting was a shot made almost entirely of peach schnapps. I was charged $7.50 each!! When I asked another bartender the price for one of those shots, she said $6.00. I complained to the bartender who made the drink and he asked me what he should do about it. I didn't think I needed to spell it out, but apparently so. He decided the best course of action was to comp me the $1.50 each. So he ALMOST got away with overcharging me. Phew! (Sarcasm implied.) After the night, I wrote a complaint on their Facebook page. The response I received (by another bartender) was absolutely inappropriate. If you're curious I took a screenshot of the convo: see the Photos section :) Definitely will have to be in the mood for dancing to come back to this place, and even then, it might take some convincing.

Davis' has taken a customer unfriendly direction into the unknown. Not only have they done away with their customer service attitude, but also with their consistant strive for excellence. Davis' now caters to the disinterested attitude of the local homeless situation towards their established clientele. They are outright hostile and blame you for their disorganization. This restuarant is only interested in dollars per-inch and not their reputation....

Got the culotte steak and added the prawn special they had and it was fantastic. The service was great and food was delicious. Dont know why they dont fit in more tables since they have the room to do so.

After attending a nice event here last year, my mother recently had her birthday party here and it was a major disappointment. They were out of stock of several kinds of wines, lost her pre-order for appetizer selections, and she had to prompt the servers several times to please keep the appetizers coming. During her party, there were periods of time with empty platters sitting on the tables and for the first 30+ minutes, there weren't even any other customers. It also seemed as though there was no manager or event coordinator on site to handle this party. I feel really bad that my mother had to waste her own time/energy/money at her *own* birthday party to manage these party tasks which should have all been handled seamlessly by the restaurant. They should have given her a discount for such poor service!

I am completely thrilled with the fact that you have Paulaner on tap and that ceviche is just magical and the burgers are killer. Also, the bartender who's been there every time I roll through is wonderful. Thanks for putting up with me never remembering what the cherry wine is called. Still don't know if I'm doing it right.

Great night. Was traveling alone for business. Trying to navigate the oddity known as Eugene. Stopped at a few places that would have been great if I were with a group of friends. However, I was alone. Stumbled upon this beautiful, safe restaurant. Service was amazing. Had fresh Dover sole and a variety of handcrafted beverages. Love this place. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town. This meal was unexpectedly spectacular.

I haven't made it into the restaurant hours of Davis' however I have previously been spending a couple weekends during the "night club" hours and the music is always slamming and it's super fun. The only down side is making your way to the bar only to be snubbed my ride bartenders. I am sure some have had rough nights dealing with intoxicated people however when it becomes a pattern of rudeness it makes me never want to order a drink from here! I don't need to drink to have fun and dance as I have done multiple times but when I want to buy a drink for my friends and I, I would appreciate kindness and not condescending attitudes and flat-put rudeness from the bartenders. If I'm paying $6 or so a drink for myself and friends I expect better, that's when I simply go next door to Cowfish.

I love the Davis, the food is amazing!! Staff are friendly & helpful - the owner & manager are superb. It's a very nice restaurant for business lunches or a romantic dinner, they have a full bar so you can have a drink if you so desire.

A few months back I went to a Yelp Social event. The event was sponsored by the owner, Tom. I had a great time and tasted MANY great items. There has been a link specifically created for this event, but since I have been back since and plan on attending tonight as well here I am on the Davis link! I got to try out the full new Davis menu. I had appetizers, salads, a main course, and desserts. All in all I really loved the majority of the food but I have to say that the appetizers and desserts were unbelievable, the main course was good, and the salads were just okay. I want to rank Davis a 3.5 because it really borders a 4 star rating. HOWEVER, I went back for appetizers and desserts about a month after this whole event and there was ONLY one dessert from the tasting menu. What a damn shame because the desserts Tom gave us were divine; a cobbler with icecream, an Italian wedding cake, mousse, and a tasty cheesecake. Now the only thing left is the brule which was also very good but man they had a good dessert menu. Whatever you do Tom, DON'T change your appetizers! If these appetizers go away then the rating will slip to a two unless the entrees are stepped up a notch or the desserts show themselves again.

I had some kind of roasted chicken which was good if I recall correctly. I did not eat the mashed potatoes with it as I don't like mashed potatoes in general. They looked good though. My dessert was literally two bites, not slices of cheesecake for $6. Plus it felt weird being the only one in the restaurant. But I think it was lunch and not dinner which would make a difference. Too expensive for me.

Stay away. Food was terrible. What passes for tater tots seemed to be scraped from the bottom of a deep fat fryer. Steak sandwich was buried under greasy cheese. Heavy hand is an understatement. Seriously, I've had better food in school cafeterias. Very disappointing, the downtown (Broadway) renaissance does not include Davis.

Not sure if this a new thing, but they have a happy hour from 3-6 pm, Monday-Friday. Where most beers and a few wines are a $1 off, and the bar menu is half off except 2 items. I think it was the ceviche and something else. We both sat up at the bar, it felt a little more intimate up there, rather than sitting in the dining area. We went during happy hour, so it was pretty busy in there. The seating arrangements were set up, so your only a few feet away from your neighbor. We tried a few things on the menu, which were okay. I noticed that a lot of the people in the bar ordered the hush puppies, and we ordered that, but they weren't that great. The calamari was decent. I think the atmosphere is great, there's a great mix of people. I hate going out to dine somewhere where there's not a nice mix of people. Anyway, chill, relaxed restaurant/bar. A nice place to unwind and grab some drinks. They have a dinner menu, but I like how they have a bunch of appetizers/ small plates, where people can just share and try a bunch of plates. I probably wouldn't come here for dinner, just some appetizers and drinks.

We went to Davis last night during the midst of Eugene Celebration and we will be back during a less hectic time for sure. We were seated promptly, with room for our big stroller and the cutest comfiest toddler booster seat brought to the table. Our service was fast and attentive and our drinks were kept full, and we probably went through three complimentary loaves of bread while at the table (an excellent thing with a hungry tired toddler on hand). Hubby got the pork belly starter ($8) and the mussels ($10). He loved both dishes and was very pleased with the menu selection, and is excited to go back and try some of the other items - especially during happy hour. I had the full serving of pub salad ($10) which was phenomenal - bacon vinaigrette, blue cheese and mustard over aruglula served "in" fried onion rings. The only thing I would change would be making the onion rings into onion straws and serving them on top. The rings were kind of heavy for the lightness of the salad, and the crunch of straws would be a good texure. I also had the half serving of spinach and mushroom bread pudding. It was served over cooked beet greens (not -as stated on the menu- spinach). The greens were good, and I appreciate the use of this part of the beets because I grew up eating them from my mom's garden - yay for chef's using ingredients well. We both had microbrews with dinner and they had a great selection of local brews at standard prices. We'll be back for sure.

So, we came in after the show (at the MacDonald) and no one noticed us, and we couldn't get any staff attention, so we left... only to come back when we realized this was probably our best bet downtown. This time we seated ourselves. And still no one noticed us!! They were right in the middle of setting up the DJ and dance floor though, so they noticed us when they realized they needed to move our table. You're probably going, how on earth could this place still get 4 stars out of me?! Well, I was impressed by what they did. The miracle (by the standards of Seattle, WA) they accomplished. They took this half-full restaurant where a band had been playing... and turned it into a fun, late night bar restaurant CLUB kind of thing. With lights and all kinds of dressed up, ready-to-dance people ages 21-45. Within 20 minutes the dance floor was packed. Packed! By the time we'd eaten our very tasty mac n cheese and quesadillas, and drank our decent mixed well drinks, there was barely room to move around on that dance floor. So yeah, you get 4 stars, Davis. Next time, please be a little more welcoming. But if you can't manage that, it's no big. You've juggling a lot.

I had lunch with my daughter-in-law Friday at Davis. To my delight, they had new things on their menu. I like that they change it every so often. We ordered two items and really enjoyed both of them. One was the mushroom and spinach bread pudding and the other was the chicken sandwich, which had a large piece of chicken breast on it. The sauce was very good, too. The service was a bit slow, but it was worth the wait.

Am handing out a rare five stars because, in addition to dishing up really interesting lunch & dinner menus, good drinks, pleasant, "grown up" ambiance and good service, the Davis is dishing up the unquestionably the best burgers in town. A really fine burger has been a quest and we've been generally disappointed - until now. Honest to God, hand formed fresh 1/2 pound burgers, perfectly cooked to order (be still my beating heart - a medium rare burger!), served on a great bun with heavenly crisply fried shallots...in a word - fabulous. Cornucopia, Dickie Joe, Sonic, Giant Burger, and the greasy, overcrowded new kid on the block, Five Guys, all have their cheerleaders, but for my money the Davis simply leaves the local competition trailing in the dust. Get there during happy hour, pair it with a cold beer and this bliss is yours for an amazing $8.00. Worth every penny, and then some. Just sorry it's taken us so long to try the Davis - we'll be back often, and not just for their burgers - they have a menu that could keep us happy for years.

My girlfriend and I had it with cheap ass drinks from college bars, and were in search of something better. Enter Davis- our savior! Perfect place to get an evening drink. Friday's and Saturday's it turns into a loud dance club around 10pm, so we prefer to go tues-thurs. Most nights are very chill with people sitting right at the bar, and maybe a few people around the restaurant. The bartenders are absolutely wonderful- they are fun to talk to, and very knowledgeable mixers. They have a rotating drink menu which is great! I found one of my favorite drinks on this menu the Olympic Gold- make sure to try it. I really recommend trying one of there specially drinks lots of good stuff. Also make sure to at least ask about what infusions they have at the moment. They usually have at least 4 liquor infusions which they are very proud about. One of my favorite things to do is to pick one of the infusions, and let Annie or Rio go to town, and make something unique. We usually order off the late night menu, and food is always top notch. My girlfriend always gets the hummus plate, and I love the BLT sliders!

The Davis and its owner, Tom Kamis, are doing good things for that sad little place we call "downtown". They're serving some tasty food, with quality ingredients and an interesting, rotating menu. In the past I've enjoyed the melt in your mouth beef medallions as a foray into my occassional meat eating. On a recent visit I tried a pork dish over ramp spaetzle and little tiny mushrooms, and a beautifully seared piece of salmon on pillowy soft gnocci. Plenty of vegetarian options, as well. Appetizers are playful and inventive. The cocktail list is long and interesting. Unique to any area of Eugene is the fantastic service. The waitstaff is attentive even in the special events side of the restaurant where I've been to several social events. Points for beautiful, local artwork and live music on the weekends. I'm too old, or not cool enough, to stay for the bumpin dance floor that takes over latenight Saturdays. But points for giving the kids something to do other than stare at the downtown "pit". The owner, Tom, has organized several block parties with great music. He's active in downtown re-development issues and is a vital voice for those who wish more for our little city.

Great drinks and great happy hour. Service is hit or miss, I've had awesome service and I've had waiters ignore me. Maybe I just have bad timing, but I frequently find that they are out of certain items/ingredients and can't make menu items. The menu also changes so frequently it's hard to get a handle on. Sometimes it has a great selection and is full of delicious well-priced items, sometimes it's abysmal. If you go and they are offering the pork belly appetizer, get it, because it's simply amazing. EDIT: Last time I went, they had removed the pork belly. They're changing a lot of things around, hopefully for the better, and hopefully they'll add a more stable menu.

I've always liked Davis. It's the one place in Eugene I know I can go when I want to get a little dressed up and I won't get looked at funny. In fact, I pretty much blend right in. Davis is definitely more upscale than most of Eugene's restaurants. But the nice thing about Davis is that it doesn't have to break the bank. To be fair, I've never eaten a full dinner, only drinks and appetizers in the bar. But their ladies' night special on Thursday borders on ridiculous - you can walk in with a $20 and walk out with a pretty nice buzz from some good cocktails. At some point, I'll probably give this place a try for a legit meal. But until then, I'll be hitting the bar on Thursday night, for sure.

nice looking place:great art on the walls, yummy food & drinks, prices nearly reasonable. Seems a place for "nice looking people" looking for same. However... floor staff hospitality below average, repeatedly asked to move when in a small group (4-5) of women and not ordering enough drinks/food at the bar. once staff even said "ladies, you are blocking the flow, you'll have to leave the bar". Seems a wee bit pretentious but with many other choices for us average folk, within a block, I can simply exercise consumer choice.

This place was classy, comfortable and quite tasty. I ordered a pear cider hot toddy to ward off the rainy fall weather and it hit the spot perfectly. To start, an ahi tuna avocado salad with black sesame seeds that my father couldn't stop "mmm"-ing over. Then, a fall vegetable gnocchi with pumpkin and parsnips and wild mushrooms that was rich, creamy, and perfect for a chilly afternoon. The unfortunate part of this meal is that we ordered three things and I can't seem to remember what the third item was. I think this may qualify as a mediocre dish that wasn't show-stopping enough to register in my memory. The service was pleasant and quick and I do see myself returning in the future.

The fresh squeezed innovative drinks---- from fun happy bartender ladies with interesting accessories no less--- are divine. Sip something fancy, to bubbly, to spicy, to the dangerously delish "candy" (house made ginger, lemon infused tequila...very easy to sip!) --I always come away happy. Love to enjoy the evening and people watching at the convenient downtown location, yum! (hope to try more food in the future!)

My last visit to the Davis wasn't the greatest. I don't know if it was just one of those nights or what...but it was like going to a different restaurant. The menu seems to be a bit more specialized since the last time I went (Vegetarians take note...not many options). The prices were a bit higher and the quality of food a bit lower. My fiance ordered a Davis Burger which he used to love. Taking only two bites, and leaving the rest....he was less than thrilled with the under-cooked and over priced burger before him. The Mojito's were great, as was our waitress...but that was about it. I like the Davis and will try it again in the future. I could do without the girl fight right outside (complete with police and an ambulance) next time though.

Really good food in a nice modern setting. Our server was extremely nice and had a good knowledge of the menu. Dixie and I shared a table full of small plates and were disappointed by nothing. I would go out on a limb and say that you could throw a dart at this menu and order whatever said dart landed on without being bummed about what you ordered. Great for date night.

I like the mac and cheese from this place. I like to call in and get mac and cheese to go. The other stuff on the menu is pretty good too. I see Davis' as a place to get a creative mixed drink. Unfortunately, I don't really care about drink variety. Anyway, Davis' is fun and it's in the middle of barmuda. This bar is probably the highlight of barmuda because it's pretty classy and nicer than the other bars around. It's comfy and the service is always great. I think this place has cover on the weekend. I'm pretty sure I came here once without enough cash for cover but the host still let my friend and I in despite the cover charge. Pretty tight place.

What was once my go-to place for an upscale dinner out has become my go-to place for casual dining and sipping drinks at this bar. This restaurant has something for everyone. Unusual in Eugene, all dinners are also offered as half-plates, making it easier on the waist and the pocketbook (and the portions are still surprisingly ample). A lovely dining room with large windows and great use of space feels fancy and relaxed - like whatever you're wearing is fine. Good customer service, local food and an expertly cooked menu with a variety of flavors for many palettes. Best of all, though, is the bar. Award-winning bartenders concoct surprising combinations on the drink menu and make you feel at home. I'll keep coming back.

Great Cosmopolitan atmosphere and design. Great to visit for Happy Hour or on Ladies Night since it can be a little spendy. Food has been excellent most of the time with one big miss when the kitchen n staff were off. I waited an hour for a undercooked burger. If you're feeling decadent the Mac and Cheese and The Fondue is a must!

As a bar scene, it's the best place to dance in all of Eugene. They also have this drink called "Skittles" that I would highly recommend. The clientele isn't always the best & the cover charge gets out of hand every now & then but all in all they have the best music & best dance floor as well. Went there one time for dinner & its was excellent. I had these jalapeño popper things off their app menu & they were absolutely TO DIE FOR. Soooo tasty. My burger was also excellent.

This is almost always a stop on our date nights. Good food, great drinks! Chris the Bartender is great! Always has some tasty concoction for my wife. He's very inventive with the fused vodkas. Knows his liquors well. She's never had a bad drink. For me it's all about bourbons. And they pour it over a baseball sized ice ball! As for food...we stick to the small plates. One of our favorite mac n cheese in town! Well....sometimes it's a little off....but when it's done right...Amazing!!! One thing you should order....Gouda Puffs!!! These are puff pastry filled with apples, gouda cheese and carmelized onions. And drizzled with balsamic and honey. Super tasty!!! Recommend that you hit Chris up to make something special! We have never been disappointed!

I've seen the Davis thing going on about 6 years now and I have to see I've seen a lot of ups and downs. I've always loved it throughout the process of it all. My first couple of years eating here blew me away. The food was cultured and on point, over the years I have been less inclined to eat here but rather shake my booty instead. The Davis is very much a hybrid of a restaurant/late night club. I have not eaten here recently, but the drinks are amazing! I love the bar tending staff, always have! If you prefer a sweeter drink, the Sexy is amazing...and will leave you feeling quite sexy. Their St. Germaine wit champagne is also a favorite of mine. I like the fact that they bring in some awesome DJ's to spin during Friday and Saturday nights so people can shake their groove thang. The space is split into two halves which makes it nice if you want to host a private event or just get away from a creeper trying to dance next to you..lol. The bar sits right down the middle that way no matter what side you are on, you can order a drink. The art is awesome, all local artist including one of my favorite artists whose name is escaping me at the moment...she also designs for Sweet Cheeks bottle labels as well. I will eventually make my way back to the Davis for some food, and will update more once that has been accomplished. Cheers!

Food was great. Just got the small plates and all 3 added up to only 19 bucks. Looks like the place might pick up after 6 or so since the alcohol selection is abundant. Great service over all and good location in downtown Eugene.

Beef bourguignon was last night's special and though I will rave about a dish on a restaurant I already enjoy visiting, I rarely update any reviews on an establishment. However, this entree is not to be missed if it's still available. The tender and delicious meat was cooked in a red wine along with pearl onions, carrots and mushrooms. The sauce comes out deep, aromatic and silky and if it weren't for the two slices of crusty bread, I would've drunk it from the All-Clad sauce pan it was served in. Seriously amazing and wonderfully simple, this entree knocked me off my feet. Did I mention that there was bacon? Oh, I paired it with a hearty California Cab and it was probably the best dinner I've had in a while; it was definitely the best dinner I've had at The Davis. In addition, the restaurant had undergone a remodel, placing the bar on the east side with less seating. There are a few high tables across the bar and the place certainly seems more roomy. It may accommodate the club scene better, though it has changed the feel of the dining slightly. Regardless, I still enjoy the food (totally blown away from last night's dinner!) and the service. As a regular, I may encounter more positive experiences than others, but each of my visit has been consistently wonderful with the staff and the meals.

Happy hour is great! We came in at the end (happy hour is 4-6 pm), but they were very courteous and let us order even though there was only 5 minutes left. Will definitely come back for dinner!

Amazing downtown location and staff to match. Everyone is friendly and attentive, kind and professional. Food is A+ and atmosphere is grown up and relaxing. People should model their bars after this place in town! It's affordable and has a killer night life! Good DJ's and prompt drinks.
