This is a solid place to grab some food and watch a game. The bartender was really nice even though she messed my order two nights in a row. I don't hold it against because it is loud in there. Food is good, not amazing. I would go again and tell anyone to go there

Ugh...Sam's, oh how you have failed me. I was here with a couple friends after a football game at Autzen. We sat in the bar area (there is also a restaurant area and a patio). There were a few tables open, but none of the tables had been cleaned off yet. We grabbed one and chatted while we waited for someone to come clean off the table and bring us some menus. Neither of which occurred. So, after a while, the guys sitting at the table next to us told us that we had to go to the bar because there didn't appear to be table service. We grabbed our own menus and cleared our table before heading to the bar to order. The bartender said "Hi" as we walked up to the bar and so I asked if we could order food and drinks. She said "not right now" continued to make the drink she was working on and delivered it to another person before coming back to us to take our order. We didn't order anything complicated - 2 orders of chicken strips with tots and a burger with tots. After 45 minutes our food still hadn't shown up. We asked the bartender about it and were told our food would be right out because they were just putting the final touches on it. Fast forward another 15 minutes and still no food. So, we asked to speak with the manager. I explained the situation, and he brought us 2 orders of chicken strips with fries and a basket of tots...so not our order. Plus it was cold. He also berated by friends for cleaning off our table, asking us why we thought that was appropriate...hum...I don't know, maybe because no one on your team was cleaning it and we wanted it out of our way...just a thought. The one bright side was that the manager did comp all of our food (but none of our drinks) and later did apologize for the delay. He kept saying it was because the game just ended, but we didn't go to the bar until over an hour after the game got out...so...maybe not a good enough excuse. Additionally, the staff did a really poor job of regulating the drunk crowd. There was one person in particular that the bartender kept serving who badly needed to be cut off. First she was the loud drunk, then the sad drunk, then the angry drunk - all in under one hours time. Regardless, the drunk was really disruptive, and it truly surprised me to see that the bar was not cutting her off as she ordered more and more shots. So, my recommendation - save your time, save your money, go somewhere else, especially if you're in a hurry.

Unfortunately the poor kitchen service dominated the entire meal experience. The serving staff was nice, nothing they could do. It's pretty messed up when you open a restaurant BEFORE THE KITCHEN IS OPEN and don't tell anyone!!... ON GAMEDAY before an 11am game. This is the one time you probably shouldn't have told people what actually happened. Happy to charge us for our food and take orders but no intention to make the actual food. Disappointing, good location, decent food, plagued by bad business decisions.

Granted we were here on a night after a football game... But in the half hour we were there before our food came, we got our own menus and silverware, bussed the dirty table, were told we couldn't order drinks "until later" and cleaned up a spill. We should have kept the tip for ourselves, but we aren't rude. They should be equipped to deal with post football crowds, but obviously weren't. Bad first impression!

I'm surprised by the mixed reviews. We stayed at the hotel next door & Sam's was the most convenient...but also really good! We got a burger, chicken tenders & fries. All good & fair priced! It's so close to the hotel strip, we just walked over for take out. So glad we did :)

My beef stew was like a bowl of potatoes and gravy. There was one two centimeter piece of beef in it and I swear that is all. Unbelievable that someone could serve this seriously.

This was their debut of a new menu and it shows. The appetizers were distinctly modern and were of high quality. The chicken strips were fresh and hand battered. Asparagus was good and came with an excellent sauce. The 8 pieces of pita bread were not enough. They were kind enough to bring us more to finish off the wonderful spinach and artichoke dip, giving them 5 stars in my book.

Worst kitchen ever! Staff was extremely shorthanded. Not sure why. Ducks homecoming game so you know there's going to be tons of people wanting food after the game!!! Sat down at 9:00, waiter was great, served probably 20 tables by himself. He took our food order and an hour and a half later he came out and said the kitchen can't make our food. WHAT??!! The worst part, we saw two smart people bringing pizza from Track Town pizza back to this place to eat! What an embarrassment!! Poor staff. Shame on the owners!!!!!!

Our server last night was great. We ordered drinks he brought me mine and checked with my boyfriend to be sure he knew the drink he ordered was served as a shot. We did not and changed his order. The Cajun house chips were awesome. Our waiter gave us just the right amount of attention. Today's waitress a much different story lots of staff few customers slow service. Don't ask what cheese are available to substitute on a sandwich she was very put out. Had to ask for the adjus for French dip had to ask for refills of drinks..then the kicker when I went to pay because she never came back to cash us out she said oh your card must have been sitting in the sun it's hot. Duh....was waiting for you to check us out like you did for your other customers....overall would go back and would recommend. Poor service just equalled a lower tip

Don't bother. The only thing this place has going for it is its right across the street from the university. The special the night I was there was fish tacos. The fish was flavorless, there was no sauce or cilantro on the fish. We had to ask for salsa and sour cream which did little to improve the flavor. We also ordered the beer battered asparagus, and they were so greasy we had to put a napkin under them. The sweet chili dipping sauce was good though and eventually we put it on our tacos to give them some flavor. Just judging by these two items I won't be coming back.

Great drinks. Great service. Nice sized outdoor patio with a warm fire. Conveniently located down the street from Onsen Spa ( rental) that'll be our next review. This bar on a Saturday night is not crowded or full of stinky weirdos. Next time you are near the UofO stop by and check this place out.

Their shirts say best sports bar in town... I beg to differ. The nachos came out room temp. Our server didn't check with us prior to happy hour ending to see if we wanted another drink. We came for the Ducks game and are being rushed out. The bus boy takes all glasses off the table. Which is nice for making table space but doesn't indicate that perhaps we'd like a refill of water or to order an additional beer. The bill was brought to us while we were still eating. Again, we're here for the football game, we planned on staying for the game. The women's restroom is tiny (2 stalls) and difficult to maneuver w people waiting inside of it. The interior looks nice and that's about the highlight of the place. The fire pit looks pretty nice but I won't be back to check it out after this experience.

I'm pretty disappointed by the food at Sam's. My boyfriend ordered a Philly cheesesteak and it came on a Costco hotdog bun. I got the finger steaks and ordered them medium. They were way over-cooked, even beyond well done. When I told the waiter at the end of our meal (no one checked on us until then), he offered to get another order. I would've rather he take it off the bill. It's just very average food and average service. There are better places in the area.

Ugh disappointing :/ I had high hopes for this place, 1) the building is great and has a lot of potential, I loved it when it was "the bridge", and assumed whoever took over the space would utilize it. 2) I've been to Sam's place (assuming it's owned by the same bar owner) and liked it a lot, the shuffleboard, the atmosphere, though I didn't eat there so I can't compare that. So my friend and I walked in at around 7pm, it was mellow. First thing I noticed was, since it was "the bridge", it's got a much more diner feel, right back to when it was Debs diner years ago. Big downgrade. Sat ourselves, and got greeted promptly. He gave us menus, we weren't there to eat but mutually decided an appetizer sounded good. We got our drinks and ordered the steak fingers app. There's a dive bar in our hometown that has great finger steaks and we always get them. While we were waiting, some long haired male employee stopped by to see if we needed anything. We told him we were fine, yet he went to a dirty, dish filled table five feet away and grabbed the half empty water carafe, and set it on our table... Thanks? We got our finger steaks, from a different employee that still wasn't our server, and 10 seconds later our server approached and said "how is everything?". We hadn't had the chance to touch our food yet, but told him "fine". Than we did touch our food. The menu said "seasoned, lightly breaded, and grilled". I don't know how it was cooked, but it was bland strips of steak, with very soggy breading, that was so caked in oil that it was shiny. It definitely wasn't fried or grilled, it looked like it was badly pan fried in way too much oil. We took a couple bites and said "no way". Had to flag someone down for our check, and than left very displeased. I'm glad we just tried an app instead of a full blown meal, won't be returning here unless I hear about some drastic changes.

Okkkk, after watching a few games here, I will not be going back, and I fully understand why it's routinely empty. What a bust. Their reduced "game day" menu is too small, and their taco bar looked cheap and unappetizing, and not at all fresh. I would not be happy, either, if I paid $10 for it and they took it away halfway through the game, as they did. Miserbale place last night, between the awkward service, uncomfortable booth and the fact that the bar was FRIGIDDDD the entire game. Most of the people seated had to leave the bar and booths to surround the outdoor fire pit for warmth.

I do not recommend this place for Breakfast. I was served cold hash browns, they offered to cook them and they never showed up. They must have forgotten, or not cared. Still paid full price and had to eat elsewhere.

Food OK. Patio OK. But apparently the staff think it's funny when a customer is a redneck as*hole. I watched a woman stick up for herself when she was offended, and the waiter just sat backed and smirked at her. Then proceeded to make some sort of clever remark. He apologized only after being forced, and then laughed with another staff that she was so pissed. I expect drunk patrons to be jerks, but not the staff. Won't be coming back.

Ordered a simple SAMs burger + bacon and cheese... Came with fries. Only $10.50. Seriously one of the best burgers I've had in years. I called ahead and ordered for pick up, and the guy who answered the phone was very courteous. The food came out quick and hot. The bar it self was very nice.. Not too noisy, not too quiet.. Very clean (which cleanliness is a personal pet peeve of mine) I will definitely be returning for another burger...

I'm a big believer in second chances. Everyone makes mistakes, and that certainly includes myself. It's human nature. I will give just about anyone/any business the benefit of the doubt. That being said, I am done with Sam's on Franklin. Been there twice and both times have been awful. The first time was with a group of friends from work and Sam's had just transitioned from The Bridge. I ordered a Philly Cheese and it was practically inedible. It's hard to screw up a Philly Cheesesteak...but somehow they found a way. The beef was tough, like almost jerky tough. The roll was dense and possibly even stale. The fries were very greasy and gummy. Everyone at our table had a problem with some aspect of their meal. The serving staff didn't seem to concerned about correcting the issues either. Fast forward to this evening. My wife and I had gone to a show at the Hult Center and were meeting some friends for drinks afterwards. They suggested Sam's. We walked in and after several minutes, one of the employees walked up and said "Hey, I'm closing up pretty soon". I said "Oh okay...what time do you close"? He said "11pm but we're pretty slow and we're trying to get out of here". He then asked me what time it was. I told him it was 10:10pm. Mind you, during the 5 minutes we were there, no less than a dozen people (excluding ourselves) walked in and were told the same thing. So basically, whoever was running the place this evening was more concerned about closing up shop than serving patrons who wanted nothing more than to hang out at his bar and make it not slow for him. Okay...brrriiing...wish granted! We went 3 blocks down to the Wild Duck, a place with better ambience that wanted our money!

AVOID BREAKFAST HERE!! Dear Sam's Manager: Please staff appropriately when a major college football game is being played in your city in a few hours. Our party of 2 walked into Sam's this morning. It was busy but not slammed; most patrons were in the "waiting for food" status. Waited 15 min before a server came around. Then, waited another 30 min. No beverages, no acknowledgement. We walked out. WE NEVER WALK OUT OF A RESTAURANT. About an hour of my life wasted. Getting breakfast at Wild Duck Cafe now and their service is OUTSTANDING!! Good luck with "playing" restaurant, Ms. Never-Coming-Back

My sister and I stopped in before and after the Duck game this Sat. The chicken legs where amazing and you got a ton for your money, the drinks where strong and made very well. The service was amazing. Everyone working there was smiling and joking and having a good time. It really added to our fun weekend get away!! We will for sure come back the next time we are in town for the game.

Walked right in after the game. Had to force the waitress to take our order. An hour ago. Just asked about the status or our order. Was advised that she doesn't cook. Not sure if our standard bar fare will show. Update: After 70 minutes we asked about the status of our order. We did get silverware at that point but then we're accused of "being mean". Most of our food then showed. The two orders of nachos were cold from sitting in the kitchen for too long. My friend's burger was never made. They did apologize for that but didn't offer to make his dinner. The owner then came over to apologize. My buddy advised him that he didnt want to pay for his beer since we waited for over an hour for cold and missing food and we needed to go find somewhere that was capable of serving food. I had noticed that he was standing behind the bar doing nothing while his business was failing in front of his eyes. Yes people were returning inedible food and having to get their own drinks. He mentioned that 3 people called in, his GM quit, he's only been open 5 months, and he is in the lumber business and has no idea how to run a restaurant. He reluctantly offered to shelve the bill so we could go down the street. We had fantastic pizza at Track Town pizza. They were packed but very efficient.
