Love the RIP slice and the Greek salad was decent. Ended up grabbing takeout after terrible food and service at the sushi place across the street -Izumi. The knots looked good, but too big of an order for just one.

The pizza was good. Not the best I had in town. Staff were nice but felt distanced at first impressions of interaction. The setting is nice, but always has been empty when I go in. Price per slice is a bit high too. But not a bad place.

Fresh ingredients. Great service. Salads are huge and made to order. No ugly lettuce here.

After agonizing over which pizza to order for a solid 30 minutes (there are so many tasty-sounding options!), we settled on the Fun-guy Trio - a combination of three types of "seasonal" mushrooms, roasted peppers, roasted garlic, chevre, and mozzarella. I was expecting this pizza to be loaded with mushrooms, supported by strategic sprinklings of the other ingredients. That is definitely not what this pizza is. Each ingredient was represented in approximately the same quantity - with exception of the chevre, which was fairly absent. I also didn't really get the three seasonal mushroom mix. It felt more like your average mix of available-in-a-supermarket mushrooms. The garlic was also kind of bland and was present in entire cloves, which made it difficult to eat at times. That being said, the pizza was still very tasty. The crust doesn't have as much flavor as other pizza places in town, but with all those strong toppings I didn't mind it one bit. Also, the pizza was HUGE. We got a large (18-inch) that fed three people for dinner and all three of us for lunch again the next day. I will definitely go back, but next time we're ordering something with fewer ingredients and a clearer focus.

I wish I could add 5 more starts to the 5 that I already picked! Fist let me say that I have been on a pretty strict calorie diet so when my coworkers and I decided to order from Mezza Luna's today I was freaking out a bit because I didn't see any nutritional information on the website, so as a long shot I decided to email them to see if I could find out anything. At first she said they didn't have any specific numbers but then right after that I got an email breaking down all the basic ingredients and amounts and THEN it was followed by an email saying that she had broken down the numbers for me and gave me that information! They went above and beyond and helped a chunky girl who loves pizza try to remain within my calorie count :) Now for the pizza and salad! The price YOU CAN NOT BEAT! The taste YOU CAN NOT BEAT! The salad was crisp and the dressing was yummy and filled with the flavor of garlic! The service was fast and friendly!

Best pizza in Eugene! I really like the lunch special when I want pizza a salad. The Schmo2 is a great pizza and I would order it again. We also ordered the Greek salad and I was impressed with the favors in it. Great atmosphere and very clean. They also have plenty of space for larger groups.

always amazing! The fruit and nut salad is a great starter and the slice of the day selection is always changing. A quick and delicious lunch or a yummy and relaxing dinner. Cool atmosphere and a nice beer selection, mezza luna Is a family favorite. Always my first choice for pizza, always delicious.

I am writing this as I'm eating because I don't want to forget anything. Ambience: super clean dining area, great music overhead. Pizza: Don't let the individual slice fool you. They are GIANT. One slice is enough but I had to try two pieces; classic pepperoni and the Prickley Pig-Black Olives, Pineapple, Bacon, Gorgonzola and Mozarella over tomato sauce. Both amazing. Crust is thin on the bottom so it doesn't overwhelm the toppings and the handle of the crust is light and rustic. If you have a side of ranch to dip it in you might pass out from joy. First timer from Portland and I will make a trip with my wife next time just for this place.

Since my last review, I've enjoyed two separate by-the-slice occasions of bacon, tapenade, herb & white sauce deliciousness & have come to believe that Mezza Luna's bacon alone may merit it an extra star. MmMm. I still stand by the complaints of my original review, that: 1.) Mezza Luna's pizzas are infinitely, immeasurably better when baked to order. That being said, sometimes you just don't want a whole pie... 2.) The individual slices are stupid expensive. 3.) There are too many counter pies that include yucky canned items like pineapples, sundried tomatoes & artichokes. (I avoid these like the plague because they don't sit out well at all.) However, pluses include the fact that: 1.) There are some really inspired pie toppings, like the aforementioned bacon, tapenade (plus herb, pesto & ricotta) pizza. Four cheese with white sauce is another favorite. 2.) Mezza Luna doesn't skimp on ingredients- each bite is generously packed with flavor (and sometimes, perfectly cooked & crumbled bacon :)) 3.) The crust is delicious- thin & crisp, with a little bit of chew. 4.) It's either this or Pizza Hut. Bottom Line: A good effort at NY style pizza! Still wish it was about 50 cents cheaper per slice.

Really good. Loved the amount of cheese. Had the NY slice. Crust was perfect, not soggy at all with a little crunch. I loved the variety. I'll definitely go back.

  • Doug D.

The service is very indifferent here. The Pizza in pre made and warmed by the slice. It's hard to be great with this model. I think the location keeps them alive and not the food.

  • Amy L.

Mezza luna has great nyc style pizza. Creative topping combinations on large slices. Relaxed atmosphere. Place is very clean. They'll bring food to you, but you bus your own table. The only place i get pizza.

  • Lisa F.

Got the lunch special and a slice if pizza. I really should have just gotten the pizza. The salad wasn't very fresh tasting and it only had 3 slices of tomatoes and cucumber, the rest was limp, kind of brown lettuce. I was unimpressed with it. But the pizza was fantastic!!! The slice was bigger then my head, the crust was flakey and had substance (it didn't just taste like pizza on a cracker) and the toppings were flavorful and delicious.

My wife and I enjoy going on weekly dates and we had found it hard to find gourmet pizza places until we found this place. It is really good.

I love this new location, very modern, clean, and has a great feel. pizza is thin crust and super crispy on the bottom which I love. Slices are large and usually have 4-5 pizza's in the window ready to order. by the slice is 2.75-3.75 but you can buy a whole pie of course. great salads as well. Outdoor seating is very nice touch.

  • K L.

This is 5 stars all the way. Immaculate dining experience. Kick ass employees keep the flow in this new location. Fresh pies sitting in the case, order a slice or the whole thing. Very generous slices for the price. Thin crusted pie hand tossed. The salads are addicting as well. Two people can easily split a large. Crispier than crisp lettuce paired with house made croutons. A must go any day of the week!!!

Great pizza place... Great feel and location... But let's be honest. It's all about the pizza knots. I could live on these.

  • Josh W.

I like this location, blows me away how they just leave the pizza in the case and heat it up as your order it. But hey, It's huge....tastes great....and oh yeah....It's HUGE. From what I know, the largest slice I can get for $3.00. Im not really into the whole crust debate...I'll eat thin, pan, Chicago etc...I did notice however that the crust seemed a little doughy...nothing that made me not eat just, just didn't have that familiar crunch most do. None the less it was really good. The restaurant was clean, the service was quick and kind. I was there about total 5 minutes to get my pizza, pay and leave. It makes for a good lunch option, but i'm a big eater and 1 slice wont cut it for me. Those of you who eat like birds will get a stomach full. I would love to get a full sized pizza, but damn. They are a little on the spendy side when it comes to a full pie.

I had Mezza luna for the first time and was blown away not only by the amazing pie which is the best I have had in a really long time but the service and friendliness of all the employees was second to none. I would have no problem recommending them to my closest friends and family for a great pizza

My favorite pizza in Eugene - quality of wood fired crust & the "greekish" toppings are just wonderful. Good microbrew on tap or wine makes it a good meal. Also live the Greek salad.

  • Jane L.

    1. The crust is thin but not a cracker. It has some heft within the layers. 2. The cheese is so much better than the chain pizza stores. 3. The gelato bar is endless. 4. They are so close to Costco you can smell the basil. 5. The Ceasar Salad dressing is hefty with yummy garlic. 6. Private parking lot,,, no street parking to fight.

So very good. Thin crust with lots of yummy toppings. The chicken sausage was great. Clean and modern.

Delicious pizza! Service was excellent and atmosphere was very relaxing. Will definitely return.

Best pizza I've had in Eugene. The Good: 1) The pizza is creative without veering too far off the deep end. A great balance of contemporary flavors but the recipes are still restrained. (IE, if you want sous vide eggs on your pizza, go elsewhere.) 2) Service is consistently good. I've been here at least twenty times and they've never failed to deliver a hot pie in less than 30 minutes. 3) Owner is friendly 4) Price is reasonable The Bad: 1) Location is a bit odd. That could be a plus if you live in this corner of the city If Mezza Luna was in Portland I'd rate it four stars. (There's just a lot more competition.) In Eugene, it gets a solid five star rating.

  • Dave M.

Great Pizza and salads. Always have a great selection of vegetarian pizza. Thinner crust pizza with great flavorful toppings. Have never had a bad pizza here yet. We return frequently.

  • Bill D.

This is great pizza. Good quality and fairly quick service. This I would class as a more gourmet-type, not the usual american type. Seating is a little limited.

  • Jana K.

First time I went here I was amazed.. I ordered a slice of pizza and a salad.. The salad was HUGE... and I ordered the garlic knot things that come with dipping sauce.. They took a while to cook them and bring them out..but it was worth it bc it was a HUGE plate of them and they were also delicious!!

  • Steve M.

My wife and I love their pizza. The restaurant is clean and modern. The pizza is good with plenty of creative toppings. If you're in the area, stop in!

  • Peter H.

Pizza here is always good, you get a slice in a blink of an eye, and the fact that there's two locations in Eugene doesn't hurt either. This one is out by Costco, and there's another equally delicious place on Pearl and about 12th. Def worth a lunch break / dinner break. I really enjoyed the garlic rolls appetizer and the salads too!

  • Shelly B.

It was ok. I ordered a calzone and it wasn't the best. The chicken seemed fresh but did find some bones. Dough they used was good but cheese was not quality. Don't think I will go back. Not a lot of options. Menu was difficult to read if you are on the go which seems to be their niche.

  • L Z.

So good! Best pizza in Eugene, hands down. I come in here about once a week for lunch for a slice and a salad (usually $6) and it's an amazing deal. The food is delicious, served fast, and they have fun slice specials every day.

Fantastic italian sausage, quality crust and sauce. I am officially now a former Pegasus customer.

  • Stan S.

I had their version of a meat lovers pizza minus the black olives plus yellow onions and pineapple, medium size. Came to $25!!!! I think that's a ridiculously high price. I'd say the pizza taste was okay while eating it with very sparse ingredients (if I don't get one of every ingredient in every bite, then there's not enough ingredients). What wasn't good was that strong processed meats after taste (high levels of sodium nitrite or preservatives?). Not sure why some pizzas have it while others don't (quality?) but, this definitely had it in bunches. When I ordered I was told it would be 20 minutes. With about 8 kids who were served just after I arrived and one person that came in to pick up take out, it took 35 minutes. They had pizza by the slice too but, it looked like those display deserts at restaurants that have been waxified.

Yummy! My husband and I just moved to Eugene a month ago so this is the first pizza I have tried in the area but I was quite pleased! We ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and half olives. Husband and I both really liked it. We also ordered a medium verde salad and an order of cheesy garlic knots. Everything was great! I only have one complaint and that is that the garlic knots were just a little burnt on the bottom but I just ate around it. I really liked the flavor of the knots because the garlic was fresh! I really wish they delivered but we live less than a mile away so we will definitely be ordering "to go" from them again! One thing you should know is their proportions are very generous! They only have medium and large and the medium was more than enough for two people! I have not eaten in the restaurant but I understand you can order by the slice if you eat in.

  • Megan B.

Their garlic cheese knots are amazing... at least while they're hot. Same goes for their pizza. As soon as it begins to cool, though, the cheese gets a bit plasticy, and the crust get's a little chewy (I like chewy crust, but my husband doesn't). Overall, though, the flavor was good, and the ingredients tasted fresh. We'll probalby give them another go, but may do it by the slice next time.

I stopped in for lunch today. The reviews seemed kinda back and forth so I thought I'd see for myself. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza and it was delicious. I know other reviews complain that the pizza is too greasy but I believe pizza should be greasy, and it was, but not in an over the top way. Plus the slice was huge! Tasty New York style mmmmm. Not the best I've ever had but definitely delicious and worth having again. Service was pretty good as well.

  • Trenda D.

Salad and bread knots are fantastic! The pizza is the saddest part of our order. So extremely greasy its inedible. If we had ordered in I would have returned it but we got it to go so now we still need dinner

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
