My husband got SICK soon after he ate the fried rice from this place. The only nice person in there was our waiter. The rest of them are totally weird ! Food not worth $55 Never gonna come back to this place.

5 Stars all the way. Wonderful service and the food was amazing. I brought the whole family and we really enjoyed the hot pot, absolutely delicious. Cant wait to go back.

Food tastes good but takes forever. The interior is brand new but it's cheap. The servers lack fervor.

Absolute worst food I've ever had. I was instantly sick before I reach the door of my car. They serve me meat that wasn't even warm until I asked them to heat it. First and last time I will ever go to this restaurant. If I could give lower then 1 star I would!!!!

I first went to LZ's when I was with my family, I really wanted to try the hot pot. We ordered some great appetizers (spicy pickled cucumber, which was awesome! and the egg roll which came out of the kitchen fresh and hot, but my parents ate those). At our server's reccomendation, we ordered the green bean chicken dish it was so flavorful and delicious! Then we ordered a small hot pot for us to spilt with lots of ingredients. Yes, it's a bit pricey but for quality ingredients like that I don't think you can complain too much, as the rest of the menu is pretty cheap for the quality of food. The staff was attentive and friendly, but not over the top (which is good for me, I want to eat not chit-chat). Even with 3 of us, we had lots of leftovers. The restaurant was very clean and you can tell the food was fresh. We will definitely be going back!!

Ok, because of other reviews I was afraid to try this place, but ended up going with a few friends and it was SO GOOD! I am so surprised. First of all, we got there at around 10pm an hour before close and were treated great, everyone was really nice. The dishes we ordered were: Sweet and sour chicken, kung pao chicken, chicken chow mein, vegetable chow mein, green bean shrimp, hot and sour soup. We also had their fresh watermelon soda, and strawberry banana smoothie. Everything tasted amazing! My friend commented that it was some of the best chow mein he had ever had. Do not be scared by the menu, it is a bit confusing and doesnt really give much info, like the green bean shrimp, not only green beans and shrimp but other veggies stir fried and smooky in an amazing what I believe was garlic sauce. The prices were not that bad at all, average was around 15$ a person for us, but the portions are HUGE! This is a place that you should order a few things and share, we all had leftover boxes even after eating until we were more than full. Give this place a try! I will be back many times now I am sure, finally some decent chinese food here in Eugene that doesn't taste like it was doused in MSG!

Magnificent. Usually came for dinner, service always friendly, and dishes always tasty. More respectful thing is even though Chinese don't eat any Orange chicken or tangerine chicken whatever that is, they prepared them for Americans just in case they don't order "Chinese Chinese". And they do Northern part Chinese which is not really spicy flavor and had lots of vegetables, and price is reasonable. For the record, I heard their hot pot are extremely high quality, and traditional, must gonna try it sometime.

Hot pot is one of DLW's all-time favorite dishes. The lack of a place to get it in Eugene meant we had to go to Portland for a fix, a major sore point for her. Now there is Chinese Dish, located in the former Ring of Fire spot on West 11th. We checked it out for Sunday lunch, and came away with mixed feelings. They obviously put some money into the place, changing out the tables, flooring and other décor, plus putting up nice new signage. They seemed to be doing pretty well with the Sunday crowd, judging from the number of tables that looked freshly vacated. Being open on Sunday puts them one up on most places. Their Grand Opening flyer claims they are open daily 11 am-2 am, but I wonder how they can keep that up in a neighborhood that doesn't attract a lot of late-night bar business. Hot pot is the thing to get here, although they promise Chinese barbecue sometime in the future. Everything is served tableside, unlike the buffet lines in some places where you can doctor up your own meat, seafood and veggie combo, or make your own dipping sauce. That may be better for those unfamiliar with the concept or who don't trust themselves to make something good, but DLW wants that control. Also everything is a la carte; you need to order veggies as well as protein, because they don't automatically bring everything with any order. We went whole hog with a meat combo and veggie combo, plus the half-and-half broth with mild on one side and spicy on the other. The ingredients were good quality, and I especially liked the spicy broth. Usually veggie plates are overloaded with cabbage and underloaded with the good stuff, but here we had almost no cabbage and instead had lettuce, which I used for impromptu wraps. They did not include an egg, which we usually expect, nor noodles for making soup at the end. We tried a couple of house sodas (no alcohol on offer), but found them weird-tasting and oddly served without ice. Maybe just go for tea or Pepsi. Our server was mostly attentive, but he forgot our dipping sauce and didn't give us a ladle or strainer to make picking up our food easier. It was a bit pricey once all of the individual items tallied. Hot pot is usually a pretty healthful way to eat a lot of food for not too much money. We will try it again I'm sure, but the places in Portland will still be getting some business from us.

The food was great. We ordered lemon an pineapple chicken. The breading was really crunchy, and had a minute amount of meat. The veggies are perfectly cooked. And the service punctual.

The food is good and truly tastes like authentic Chinese cuisine! The only thing that I didn't like was that the garlic ribs had only 6 small pieces, which is obviously not filling. It should have been cheaper and probably placed in the appetizers instead of the "chefs speciality." Don't get me wrong though, the garlic ribs tasted good!! I just wouldn't pay that much money for it. The rest of the other dishes we ordered were spot on! Their menu has a wide variety so I am actually looking forward to dining here again!

I would give it no stars if I could. This place has missed reviews. I see why. I tried this place for the first time, and the last time. The hardest part was paying for meal that i did not like at all. I ate it, but only because I paid $15 for it. If you are not sure if you want to try this place, do not. It took half an hour to receive my food in a completely empty restaurant. I went at dinner time. The only people in there that were eating other than me appear to be related to people who work there, their children. The menu is weird enough that they had to make the children french fries. The food was horrible. It tasted so bad and over seasoned, that I wanted to vomit it out. I ordered a classic dish that they had on their menu. What I got was not even Asian food, it was Indian curry. If I wanted Indian food, I would of went there when it was Ring of Fire. Overall the food quality was not restaurant quality. I could of saved myself a lot of money and went somewhere else. I could of gotten a tastier meal at Panda Express, for ALOT less. Ask yourself, do you want to wait 30 minutes for food in a t otally empty restaurant? Do you want feel like you are ignored by all the staff, when you are the only one there? Do you want to get substandard food, and pay $15 or more for it? If you are looking for weird food such as pig's feet maybe this place is for you. Personally they could not pay me to eat pigs feet. A word of caution, I did not see most of the items on their online menu, on the menu in the restaurant.

We came to try out a new place but on our way in we passed a glass door (the restaurant way into the kitchen) and saw meat just sitting there! Absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!! Needless to say we did not go in.

Another authentic Chinese restaurant in Eugene. I am been here 4times. Nothing made disappointment to me so far. They got wonderful meals and friendly service. BTW I'm a completely a fan of noodles . The "noodle with minced pork sauce" is my favorite. Try it !

  • Julia R.

I'm being a bit charitable with 3 stars because I'd like to have a true hot pot place in Eugene, since it's one of my favorite things to eat. Chinese Dish does have hot pot, but it ends up being a little pricey when you have to order everything a la carte. We got a mixed plate of meats and a mixed plate of veggies, which our server said would be "a lot," but in fact turned out to be just middling-sized portions. I could have probably eaten the whole thing myself, truthfully, since we didn't order any starches like noodles or rice. We got a sesame dipping sauce, which was fine. The broth, half spicy and half regular, was nice enough. What I'd really like to see here are some more combination plates that come with mixed seafood or meats and a variety of vegetables for a more reasonable price. As it is currently, you need to bring a large group with you to justify buying each ingredient separately. And why don't noodles come with any of the plates of meat or vegetables? Someone who runs this place should probably take a run up to Portland's Hot Pot City and see how that place does things - buffet-style - and maybe get an idea of what might be successful in this location. It doesn't have to all-you-can-eat, but they should at least have a sauce bar so that patrons can create their own dipping sauces, as spicy, sweet or savory as they like it. Just a thought!

Wow Wish we had read these reviews before trying this place Some of the highlights: After breaking a glass, the waitress wiped the floor with a towel and then wiped our table... With the same towel. And didn't replace any of our plates with broken glass in them ( had to ask another waitress for replacements.) Food finally came, no serving spoons; we asked for them but never received. It seemed to be a common request echoed throughout the restaurant. My favorite was the man who had to ask for a ladle for his soup. Water glasses never refilled Never checked on. And this seemed to be the common theme from the entire staff. It's a shame seems like it could be a nice place. I don't blame the staff, I blame the management that apparently never bothered to train anyone. We won't be back, in fact, my family took bets on how long they will remain in business.

Very interesting food. My husband and I have tried this place several times and ordering the same things and each time the food was totally different. It was hard to believe it was from the same place. Not quite sure if it's a different cook every night or what but some consistency would be good.

*Note to management... Don't close your restaurant for a day / night, unless it is an emergency and there is Nobody to keep it open. I've been a good customer. I was looking forward to eating at your establishment. Note on the door just made me wonder if I should drive across town not knowing if you are open. Should someone have to call to make sure you are open... During what should be normal business hours? Not happy. I Was looking forward to my dinner.

The food was just ok....the service was terrible! No serving spoons with our dishes, we waited forever for our food, we asked for take out boxes which we had to ask for again as we were ignored.when we went to pay the waitress took our credit card and then disappeared for 10 minutes....we had to go find her. Will never return. Too bad....I was wanting to like this place.

Had the traditional Hot Pot on our first visit. The broth is pretty basic with not much flavor; too bad. As an American I want a little more to tantalize my tastebuds. We had pork and the veggie platter (broccoli, sweet potato, potato, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, lotus root and mushroom). Also added the house dipping sauce; spicy chili with garlic and cilantro. The pot gets a boiling and your dinner is ready quickly. The large pot is LARGE; lots of left overs (broth) if you do this. I may need to try the spicy broth before I make a final decision about coming back. Oh, our servers were great.

First time and last time eating here. Was seated at a booth where the table and seats are wet. Water glasses were spotty: AKA dirty. My guest convinced me to stay. The food was bland and the dishes had no serving utensils. Oh, and the server had a runny nose which she wiped with her fist.

Terrible service! Don't order a drink! Foods ok, but they did use ketchup to decorate the plates!...I certainly wouldn't come back. The waitress completely ignored us the whole time we were there

We stopped here when the ramen place we wanted to go to was closed. The sign and menu seemed nice, so even though there was only 2 tables with people, we decided to give it a try. HUGE MISTAKE. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Not only was the one guy with the goatee the only person working, his indifference and lack of attentiveness only made us stew in anger as we waited 48 minutes for our food. We were told they were only serving chinese options, as the Thai chef was not in yet. Nothing on the chinese menu had any descriptions or ingredients listed, and when I asked a couple of questions, it was obvious I was only annoying the waiter. When the food did eventually come, my sesame chicken (which only resembles classic sesame chicken in that it has sesame seeds) was cold, and spicy, which I was told that it wasn't when I asked the waiter. When I sent the food back, he never returned to ask me if I wanted something else. I am literally typing this review from the table, which we have been sitting in for well over an hour, with no food in front of me ans a very bitter taste in my mouth. Stay clear from this place unless you like throwing away money and wasting time being ignored in an establishment that doesnt play music and doesn't believe in filling water glasses. We literally walked out without paying. And felt nothing but satisfaction doing so.

This is real hotpot! exceptional Chinese food. Excellent quality ingredients. Unfortunately we observed an uncultured local family whining about why it didn't taste like ocean sky food. Almost all the older Chinese restaurants in this area make bland unauthentic food for white people. We are so glad Eugene is finally getting some real ethnic restaurants like this one and Kung Fu Bistro!!!

This place just opened. They're just serving hot pot now, but they're planning to add some more items to the menu soon.

Ehh not the best, slow service about as good as like Panda Express, the food was kinda bland, service was friendly, sparse interior, my beef dish seemed like it was gonna be bad tomorrow and was really chewy. The broccoli was fairly fresh, they have a traditional and non traditional menu and the one dish we ordered off the traditional was the best. They have a soup that is chicken noodle that is not bad but only had three ingredients chicken noodles and green onion im not going back, just another sad Chinese restaurant, par for the course for Eugene. Whoever compared this place to Kung fu Bistro is either sadly misinformed or high. Not that there's anything wrong with that

There was a window to the kitchen that you could look in from the outside sidewalk. As we were walking in I could see about 5 people in the kitchen preparing food. It looked like they were using a lot of good meats and fresh vegetables which got me excited. I thought we were in for a treat. When we got into the restaurant there was only one table with people. They looked like they were Chinese, so I thought that is a plus. If you see Chinese people eating at a Chinese restaurant it is usually a good thing. We ordered a hot pot, chicken fried rice, and beef chow mien. Considering that there was at least 5 cooks in the kitchen and only four patrons in the restaurant other then ourselves we should have gotten our food quickly. I work in a restaurant and know that stir fried foods are cooked very quickly. It took 25-30 minutes for food to come out. And it was at least 5 minutes between each dish that was brought out. All of the food looked great. But the taste was something else. I don't believe this restaurant believes in seasoning at all. There was maybe a little miso flavor in the hot pot broth but that is it. The egg tasted like dirty dish water. The flavors that should have been in it like ginger, garlic and lemon grass was sadly absent. The worst part was the lack of salt. I rarely if ever add salt to any dish but all three dishes needed it. I thought I would add a little soy sauce to it to add some flavor. Wrong move there. They have soy sauce bottles on the table but they do not have soy sauce in them. It looks like soy sauce but is some kind of vinegar. This made the soup even worse. The beef chow mein was extremely oily which doesn't bother me if it tastes good. Kung Fu which has the best Chinese food in town has pretty oily food too. Unfortunately there was no seasoning in this dish also. This is too bad since there was good vegetables, rice, and chicken it. Cheep off the shelf teriyaki or oyster sauce would have improved the dish. The beef was cut into chunks which is a terrible mistake. You can use cheep beef in a dish if you cut it extremely thin and marinade it. This wasn't done of course. It was so chewy and gristley it was hard to eat. The chicken fried rice also had good ingredients. It was a good cut of chicken and the vegetables seemed fresh. It was too oily though. I can deal with oily chow main but not rice dripping with oil. The flavor was of course non existent. For desert they brought out these weird hard dough like things shaped like butterflies. They weren't sweet and had no flavor. I don't know what they were supposed to be. Just super chewy pieces of baked dough. They had hot plates on a cart at the end of each table with the cords running under the table. It was hard for your feet not to get caught up in the cord. The cart also got in the way when you wanted to stand up. I paid with a large bill which the waitress took. It was strange though when what I thought was the owner took the money from her and made change from the cash register and they gave it back to the waitress. It look as though she didn't trust the waitress to open the cash register herself. This place will not be around a year from now. It is sad how a place can take good quality ingredients and ruin them in the way that they have. I think the owner or chef must think that salt and flavor is evil. This is too bad. When I looked into the kitchen I had high hopes. Unfortunately they were dashed on the bland rocks below.

Take out - chicken chow mein and veggies fried rice, enough for two to share for two meals!! Huge servings, very tasty. Made it home without soy sauce or any other sauce...but didn't need it. We're eating in next time!

This was our first visit tonight, on Chinese New Year, and it was bizarre. First, the left side of the restaurant near the bar was pretty darn full. But only Chinese were seated there. The right side of the restaurant is where they sat the few non-Chinese people (so, us). We asked what to order from a hostess and she said dumplings for New Year, with homemade sauce. We did, they were amazing. I wanted to try hot pot and didn't know it was going to be enough for 2 people, and that it would be nearly $30 ($9.99 for broth and I got regular and hot and spicy, $6 ish for pork, $5ish for cabbage, $4ish for sprouts and $4ish for noodles). My husband really wanted the schezuan beef so we got that too. TOO MUCH FOOD! Again, loved the dumplings. His beef dish was good, flavorful. And I'd never had hot pot so take my review for what it is, a novice's version. It's sort of like oil fondue, and I like that. The plain broth was actually pretty boring and I ended up adding some of the spicy to it. The spicy was very spicy. Like, hot and spicy. There are a ton of pepper flakes in it but not little ones, like fingernail sized. So a pretty intense flavor. It wasn't bad, but I can't say that I loved it. I might try it again but it certainly didn't have me craving it. We had great service, and I feel bad for the servers. It's not an American style Chinese restaurant and one couple came in after us and were pretty rude during ordering saying they didn't know what stuff was, wanted pictures, etc. Then their soup took awhile and I could hear the server apologize. The man just said they wanted the check and they'd leave. I personally didn't think they waited very long at all but maybe. Also, I slipped and fell by the register while stepping outside to take a phone call. It's possible no one saw but I find that hard to believe. I wasn't hurt, or at least it was mostly just my pride, but strange no one mentioned it or asked how I was. Lastly, we had probably 6 different people come to our table either to bring a plate, the hot pot, the bill, etc and all of them were very friendly.

Just came in for take out at lunch hour and didn't have the best experience. The place itself looks very nice but it starts with the menu that has plenty of misspellings. The amount of time it took for the take out was about 50 minutes, with only 3 tables of costumers. When I finally got my order I did not think of needing to check if my order was right after I was reassured it was. Upon arrival at home I found out it was definitely not what I had ordered.. 2 of the same dishes I ordered was something completely different. (I ordered yellow curry, but got very oily fried rice instead) And some spring rolls that were on the menu as 4 pieces, but I only received 2. I can't say how the experience would be dining there, but I would definitely not recommended take out. Also while waiting for the take out, I've seen at least 2 groups of customers leave because they were unaware if they had to be seated or can seat themselves (no sign saying either) and they stood there for 5 minutes without anyone greeting them. The server seemed to have his hands full walking back and forth from the 3 tables he had to the bar and kitchen, being the only server there.

Being lovers of Ring of Fire, four of us (3 generations) decided to try the new restaurant - Chinese Dish. We had no idea about the place. None of us had been to a Hot Pot restaurant before. The concept sounded much better than it turned out to be. The "broth" that comes in the cooking pot that is placed in the center of the table was gray/white, tasteless and greasy. We ordered one dipping sauce (garlic), veggies and a meat plate. Those all looked great - very fresh. But they had absolutely no flavor after cooking in the bland sauce. We added some of the garlic sauce and some soy sauce to the mix to try to add some flavor but when all was said and done, it was a very bland meal. I give this restaurant about three months.

I'd love to give my Chinese fellows a good rating, but not for this one. My husband and I went there for hotpot to celebrate Chinese New Year. Oh boy, as soon as we sat there and looked at the menu, we started to have doubts. Everything was so expensive!!! And they only look nice on the menu, not in front of you. They even charged us $3.00 for the dipping sauce. The two of us spent $80 for hotpot, which was very mediocre. Last but not least, they only had one waiter when we were there the whole time. He was serving 5 or 6 tables and you can tell from his face, he didn't like working there, very low morale and slow paced!!!! No no no......

Went here on a Sunday for some delicious Chinese food! What I wasn't expecting was to experience the worst restaurant sitting of my life. There was one guy waiting tables. Maybe 5 or 6 tables nothing overwhelming. His attitude was depressing to the point that I now feel a slight amount of chronic depression that I may need to live with for the rest of my life. I'm not sure who to feel worse for him, or the guy that hired him. I drank my water immediately after sitting down. 1 hour and 15 minutes later my water remained empty. If you enjoy friendly environments and liquid with your cuisine, I'd recommend you dine elsewhere.

If there was 1/2 a star, I would choose it. We ordered fifty dollars worth of food to go(chow mein, sweet/sour pork, fried rice...pretty basic chinese food. We both got sick and I ended up in the bathroom throwing up. We called and talked to the manager to let them know that they might have served a bad batch of food. We were told we would get a call back. We didn't hear from anyone for a few weeks. We called back and talked to the manager and asked if we could talk to the owner. He said that the owner will not offer any credit or refund. When we told him that the only recourse for us was to give a bad review on yelp, he responded with loud enthusiasm, "That would be great!" and hung up on us. This is the worst restaurant experience we've had since living in Eugene for over 25 years. Our next task is to report this to the City of Eugene. The unprofessional attitude of the manager does nothing to help this restaurant. I would not be surprised to see this restaurant close its doors in the near future. if they continue to treat customers with disrespect, they will not be successful in the long run.

First time here and was very happy. The decor is clean and elegant, the staff welcoming, and the menu varied. We had potentially the best ever dumplings- tender and flavorful. The salt and pepper shrimp was delicately crunchy- tasty to the last bits. Prices very reasonable, too. Bringing my mom next time-

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
