My boyfriend and I ate here last night. The food was pretty good, a bit more expensive than I was expecting for the quality. The service was great, the wait staff was very attentive. The total disappointment........their mixed drinks were the WORST. The waitress brought me a shot of Myers to go with my margarita?! Hmmmm a first for me. The Myers was not going to help the horrible taste of the margarita. It was so bad I sent it back. My boyfriend had a Long Island, also horrible. The drink prices are very reasonable but the cost doesn't matter if it tastes horrible. I will might go back for the food as I know what to expect now. There were plenty of left overs and I didn't feel the food was very greasy. Maybe the improvement is due to someone at the restaurant reading the reviews from here. In light of the opinion of what has been written about the take out, I will avoid that option. My review of 3 starts is about 1/2 a star generous.

I was quite disappointed by the decor of the place. The vibe of the place is very close to a cheap greasy buffet. However, our server Stephanie was very accommodating. She knew details about the menu and answered all our questions. I ordered the sweet and sour pork. I've been to 5 or 6 Chinese restaurants and the food at this one was by far the best. Sweet and sour pork at this price is usually fatty and dry, by it was very moist, free of any bad texture, and the sauce was excellent! My friend ordered orange chicken. It, too, had the perfect texture. It was coated in a very savory batter and served with the right amount of sauce. The portions were perfect. Their signature shrimp sauce is something I could eat with my salad, hamburger, or hot dog! Stephanie brought us extra bowls of sauce, sesame seeds, spicy mustard, and checked up on us very often. As a young college student, I'm fairly used to being treated with poor customer service most likely because servers don't expect a large tip from a college student. However, Stephanie was extremely polite and friendly. Her service almost made me rate it a 5. Thanks, Stephanie.

I rarely write reviews, but Kowloon's food is SO superior to any other Chinese food that it garnered five stars from us! We moved from Eugene to San Francisco 10 years ago...so so Chinese food, then we moved to Portland...NO good Chinese food!!! in fact, some of the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. We get to Eugene once a month and we ALWAYS include a trip to Kowloon's while we're there. Their vegetables are fresh and crispy, the mar far chicken is all white meat! Nothing is swimming in disgusting, overly sweet gooey sauce like so many other places. The rice is fluffy and the portions are BIG! We love you Kowloon and we miss you so much. Please, please come to Portland where you will be properly appreciated and welcomed with open arms!

I tried this restaurant because it was close to my place. It was expensive and not worth it. The food looks kind of not professionally made. I ordered the teriyaki chicken, the taste was light and not that delicious like other Chinese restaurants. If you want any Chinese restaurant these one is not the correct choice. Sorry that's the truth.

Nope. Don't do it. Unless you enjoy frequent visits to the toilet. My girl and I both suffered gastric distress due to their spectacularly greasy lettuce wraps and potstickers. The wraps came out with stale "crispy" noodles as well. Also, the bartender refused to serve us the full menu in the lounge even though no one was there. I guess she hates being tipped. Our server was nice, though. She can have the one star.

Used to be good many years ago....what the hell has happened?! Was EXTREMELY embarrassed when I took family here couple years ago. Food was bland and service non existent! I figured that we all have an off day and gave it many more chances. Unfortunately every visit yielded the same result...Terrible food and absolutely crappy service! You're lucky to get your food by somebody, but don't think you're going to get good food, checked on, a refill, plates taken away or anything!

The location of Kowloon's is great. Windows face mill creek. That is probably the best I have to say. Service is extremely slow. We arrived at 4:15pm and only a handful of people were dining. We shared one entree and it took almost 30min. Food was mediocre, over priced, and came out barely warm. Carpet was dirty and overall appearance looked like it needed a good scrub down.

Their food is not great, but they bring it to my house. The pot stickers are good as long as you cook them again after they arrive to crisp them up and get rid of some oil. I realize that it's silly to pay for food you have to re-cook, but again, they bring it to my house. That's really all they have going for them, and it seems to be enough in a town where Chinese food is generally terrible. I have tried almost all of the Chinese food Eugene and Springfield has to offer, and this place wins only because I can drink booze at home while I wait their 45-90 minute standard delivery time.

  • Anony M.

What happened to the quality?! We've been ordering from here for over a year now and at first it was delicious but seems like every time we get it now it just tastes worse and worse! The last straw for us was when we ordered pork chow mein and got this crumbled brown mystery meat that I can only assume is ground turkey... Needless to say we will no longer be eating here..

very good food. I have been going to Kowloon since 1990's. Never disappointed. Very good bar side too.

I received my delivery order from Kowloon's. After reading the negative reviews on Yelp I was worried, and I posted that I would post again after I received my order. That was a couple weeks ago and I have to tell all you naysayers that Kowloon's is delivering classic Chinese-American food. Delivery is prompt (45-1:00) that is delivery, the food was warm, (that is delivery) I ordered the Kowloon's Special and all the ingredients were hot, all the sauces were delivered, but was is deep fried, heavy, and lacking a lot of fresh vegetables? Yes. But that is Chinese-American food. Kowloon's is doing everything 95% of what Americans want.s That is why they have been in business as long as they have. If you want better (take-out) cook it yourself. I eat American-Chinese food once a year, it is the Asian version of American pizza, it lacks the true cultural experience of the country's origin, but don't complain about a business that is giving you exactly what you ordered. Kowloon's food is a good representation of American-Chinese food.

I tried Kowloon's again, and this is my last time. In the middle of eating delivery chowmein I felt something hard in my mouth. Upon spitting it out I found that it was a miniature wooden and metal clothespin. I am disgusted, and threw away all the other food. Officially never going back.

We ordered fried shrimp and it was greasy. We also had orange chicken and it was greasy and the sauce was watery. It was almost inedible. I will never go back.

Disappointed. It used to be good now it is below average. Service was substandard it took 25 minutes to get our soup no surprise that it was cold. The portions for 3 was closer to portions for 2. Drink refills were few and far between. Egg Rolls were greasy and the BBQ pork was very skimpy for a full size order. Do yourself a favor and try somewhere else.

My family and I eat here at least twice a month. The portions are so big none of us have ever finished a meal. The food is always good. None of us have ever had anything we didn't like! Awesome American Chinese cuisine!

Used to love Kowloon just a couple years back. Before I moved out of their delivery zone I used to get it delivered regularly. Not sure what happened to this place but wow, avoid it. The Chow Mein is different, and not in a good way. Super greasy and not at all the same level of quality as before. They are using the same garbage soba noodles you can get at the mall, (or any of the other terrible Chinese restaurants in Eugene) not a real Chow Mein noodle. The Crab Puffs had super greasy cheese in them, it looked and tasted like cheddar cheese, not the usual cream cheese you would expect. The flavor was terrible, almost like the crab (or Krab) was off. These are a another item I used to love, but they were made much differently. My wife ordered her favorite Orange Chicken, it was inedible. Tough, greasy and suspect. The only thing served to us we could eat was the pork fried rice. We won't be back unless we start hearing it has changed. One can hope.

I've never ordered from Kowloon before or been to the restaurant, so I'm willing to give the actual restaurant experience the benefit of the doubt sometime. The Delivery wasn't the best experience. We were pretty stoked that they delivered past 8 but when we called to place an order and were hung up on. So we called back, line was busy a few times and when we finally got through we had to repeat everything we said, I'm guessing they probably have the phone pretty near the kitchen. The first lady we spoke to was pleasant though. We ordered Hunan Chicken, sweet and sour pork and pot stickers. Pretty simple and generally hard to mess up right? ..nah. We realized we only had a large bill so called back to let them know. within about 3 minutes. We again had to go through the process of repeating everything we said just to let them know in advance about breaking a large bill which 1), took longer than the order to place and 2) were told "everything you ordered is being taken out for delivery right now" which makes me question how fresh everything is. The delivery time wasn't too bad, at around 45 minutes. Which, if it was done 3 minutes after we called shouldn't have taken that long. But I'm thinking he just said that to get us off the phone. I asked the driver about making change for the large bill and he was pretty pleasant too and said he had been told. I asked him for 2 fives and a 10 to break a 20 and he asked if I would just take 3 fives. ??? So I said sure and tipped him what I would have minus the five bucks. Price: Food + delivery fee + tip was close to about 50 bucks. The food: The only way we could tell the sweet and sour pork apart from the chicken was that it had messy basic sweet and sour sauce dumped on it. The Hunan Chicken was just fried chicken, period. In the bag I found what I assumed to be the Hunan chicken sauce which was basically hot and sour soup with mushrooms in it. CRAZY salty, not good tasting at all. Other than that there was some really sub par spicy mustard and a couple packages of sweet and sour sauce. I tried to pull out a couple pot stickers instead and they were so stuck together I had to pry them apart which just made a huge pot sticker flavored mess. Haven't had any ... "after effects" aside from disappointment.

I have eaten at Kowloons dozens of times. The service has varied over the years but the food has always been consistently excellent. Best Mar Far chicken in Eugene. The chicken fried rice is also excellent. Portions are a bit large even for me. I don't understand why they have been getting such poor reviews on yelp because as far as I'm concerned they are the best in town and I'm a harsh critic.

Worse Chinese food I have ever had, EVER. Deep fried, bland, and very large portions that you feel bad wasting but don't want to take home because of how extremely bad the food is. If you want Americanized Chinese food with zero flavor, you are on a budget, and you need a LOT of food, by all means come here. If you want REAL Chinese food, go to Kung Fu Bistro. I am sad that I have even been here. Gross.

Consistently bad, but you know that every time you order. And we keep ordering. Love the fact they deliver late and everywhere. Only ate in the actual restaurant once a long time ago and the experience was good. I usually order sweet and sour chicken w/ fried rice and my lady usually gets something new each time. The sweet and sour chicken is fairly over cooked but the chicken chow mein isn't that bad. Need delivery late? Order up! Want good Chinese? Head up to Portland.

I don't remember the last time I went to Kowloon's, since I didn't have any reason to deny a trip for some food the other night. I don't know if it's drastically declined or if it's always been this horrible. The location is nice, we got a lovely table with a view. All good things ended there. I almost feel bad about complaining about the service. The staff that I encountered were very nice and as accommodating as possible but it seems like the management must suck at scheduling or something. There was one waitress and one busser/hostess on duty that I saw. The waitress had to maneuver the entire restaurant herself, even when the room was less than full, we rarely saw her so I don't know what other duties they have her doing in the back. The person they had helping with hosting/bussing dishes, was nice but when we asked to order another beverage, she just said that our waitress would probably be out sometime and we had to ask her? Typically the person who can't take an order goes to get the waitress in that situation...so it was just confusing. The food was terrible. Poorly seasoned to the point of being bland. The egg flower soup was inedible and I'm not picky. It tasted like it had raw potatoes in it and had this funky sweet flavor to the broth. My friend was equally as disgusted with her hot and sour soup, saying it had a weird sweet flavor as well. Even the saltines that they serve with it were stale. It's nice that they mention on the menu that the vegetarian options are done in chicken broth but can be done in water if requested but sort of odd at the same time. In the end it was just an underwhelming feeling, especially for the higher prices they have. So basically we pay a little more for a view and no MSG? This is the sort of place that gives Eugene the bad name it has for cuisine options.

Food it was a greasy and dry and also had a funny taste to it they really went downhill. Are you still love them now I don't think I'll order them again I got delivery and it was almost an hour late after the time he said they would get here.

Awesome food. Very tasty. The service is great. I went there for my 21st birthday and they were very hospitable to my needs and even gave me free cake! Yummy! Definitely a great place to go to!

  • Kat W.

The food was incredibly disappointing. It was so awesome that they offered the option to make my vegetable chow mein and Kung pao tofu with water instead of chicken stock, but the flavor matched the presentation- really really sad and boring. Probably the saddest, most unappetizing looking food I've ever seen. The vegetables in my chow mein were cut into such huge pieces that some of it was raw and the tofu tasted sour. The deep fried Kung pao tofu had a nice texture but the sauce was kind of weird, I've had much better. The rice was dry. The jasmine tea was pleasant and hot but the soups weren't. The service was fine but elevator music they play is AWFUL. The food was expensive and sad. I will not be returning.

Food Score: 2 1/2 Stars Customer Service Score: 1/2 Star Delivery Score: 1/2 Star I experienced the worst customer service and delivery experience: 1. Delivery time 1 hour 20 minutes, and we live less than a mile away. 2. Stoned delivery driver dropped all our food before arriving to the door, but scooped it all into a garbage bag and asked if we still wanted it. 3. Stoned Delivery Driver informed me he already contacted "headquarters" and could have a replacement in 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes (normal delivery window). 4. Calling the restaurant resulted in a rather rude fellow who had not heard anything about the issue and refused to send the next driver to provide a replacement. This person also did refund the card but said to expect it to be charged then refunded (they could just voided it). 5. I called and spoke to the manager a few hours later, after grabbing some food at Safeway since the delivery was a bust. I told her that they had lost a customer, what they could've done better, and she made no attempt to resolve the issue or keep me as a customer. Her response: I'm sorry, if I had taken the call I would've had the next driver out the door deliver your replacement and had the driver not deliver the spoiled food. No where in here was an offer for some free dumplings, a raincheck, a gift card, or even the courtesy of a rushed delivery on the replacement food (keep in mind we are less than 1 mile away from the restaurant). They've lost me as customer for life at this point.

I used to like this restaurant, but this time it was absolutely TERRIBLE. Worst meal I have ever had there. I was ill when I got home. Everything was bad, the soup to the meal, the worst ever! Not only was the food barely edible, but they raised their prices. There are too many good restaurants in Eugene, so there's no need to patronize this one. If it were possible to give this restaurant less than one star I would have.

Terrible, terrible place to get Chinese food. I ate there once, ordered take out & delivery and every time we get sick after eating their food. The restaurant needs to be cleaned! It feels like the place has not been updated since the 80s. The food they have on the menu is typical Americanized Chinese food but extra, extra greasy and flavors are not that great either, mostly pretty bland. Pricing is on the expensive side as well. But to be fair, the food portions are big. So, if you want quantity over quality, this place should be okay. But Wary on their delivery drivers, they are terrible on the road. You'll see those Kowloon delivery cars hauling ass and cutting other cars especially on MLK Blvd. I don't recommend this place at all, and no plans of coming back. I don't even remember how the!customer service was because getting sick from their food clouded my judgment.

Oh my lord, their food is soooo good. I can honestly say, it is BETTER everytime I eat there. I ordered takeout on New Years Eve & the egg roll was perfect, unlike all others I've had (too much pepper, celery,or just something off) the Mar Far Chicken and Chow Mein combo was delicious & the portion so big that I had it for lunch the next day! Don't let one bad cook/review mislead your palate (they are only human & have several cooks) this place is the best Chinese on this side of town, hands down! And my kids LOVE it too. I AM ADDICTED!!!!

Ugh... Who cares that you get a lot of food if it's unappetizing and expensive? Drive over to Twin Dragons on River Road. Drive to Springfield for Far Man. Heck, drive to Portland if you have to. Just don't subject yourself to this soggy, flavorless mush.

Alot better than I expected since we asked the clerk at La Quinta what was good nearby. At first, we found the bar entrance which looked dark and empty. Then, we went through the main door to restaurant entrance which was more pleasant. For starters, we had the moo shu pork with soft egg roll wraps which was fantastic. That itself got us full after 3-4 helpings. Then, we had two other dishes which I forget with beef and vegetables as well as one with noodles. My mom preferred brown rice but I got fried rice with mine. If this pleased my parents, then this automatically gets our seal of approval. Service was great and nice that the restaurant had a river view.

The absolute worst chinese food I have ever eaten. Bland, no seasoning, over priced and the decor was old and looked dirty. Mar Far chicken was poor quality chicken riddled with tendons. Gross!

Worst Chinese food in Eugene, or ANYWHERE for that matter. Flavorless, greasy, incredibly mediocre. I ordered delivery tonight - was craving Chinese food, and they made me order $30 minimum for delivery! Then it arrives and I was so unimpressed! The egg rolls were GROSS! I'll never make this mistake again!!! Wish I'd read the other reviews here first!

Went on a Friday @ 6:30, upon walking up the ramp my wife and I experienced a putrid smell coming from under the building. I would bet money on it either there is raw sewage or a dead animal underneath. with that said walking in on our first time it was a little awkward, there were about 10 people just standing around and I didn't know were the server was to take our names. After a few people cleared I saw a clipboard with a bell in front of it we had to hit. I hate hitting a stupid bell, why not just keep a hostess in the front instead of being understaffed? After hitting that bell we were told it would be 10-15 minutes. After standing in a awkward area around all the other people my wife noticed there was a seating area around the corner, we walked in and it was empty and everyone followed us in. A sign would be nice or something, it is hidden if you have never been there. It took about 25-30 minutes to actually get to us, we were on the verge of leaving. After being sat down our server was very nice and the service was a little slow, but I can't blame her, I saw people literally running from table to the back. They need more staff on a Friday night. Maybe some people just called in sick? I doubt it. After ordering I was a little reluctant about how the food was going to come out since the moment walking up the ramp it had all gone bad. But the food was very large portions, I was astonished. It made the high price tag not feel as bad, even know it was still expensive. We ordered the Orange chicken which was a nice white breast meat and fried. It was a tad dry but the sauce had good flavor and it was fairly crispy. I was surprised but we had to pay an extra dollar for fried rice. I felt nickel and dimed. It ended up being $13. Our second dish was the kung pao chicken. It was pretty good also, large portion, an entire plate by itself with a bowl of rice. I opted for the steamed white rice since I didn't want to pay an extra dollar. It was pretty good, my only complaint was it had no spice to it at all, I thought it would have a little heat at the least, but it literally had none. The décor reeked of 80's old lamps and ugly silverware and dishes. My last critique would be the bar had very loud music, which is awesome and all, but on the other side of the restaurant I could hear the bass bumping through our conversation. When we were leaving the door was wide open and the waiting area was super loud. At the least they could shut the door! All in all the food was good, the smell by the front door took my breath away and the servers were understaffed. I would recommend take out if possible.

SO ANGRY! just tried to order delivery during their open advertised times at 11:15 when it said online that they say open until midnight for delivery and the girl answered and hung up on us saying "we're closed" in angry voice. had their food before only worth it because they offer late business hours but not if they don't honor them. won't be getting my service anymore!!!!!!!!!!

Kowloon is great for hanging out before Oregon Duck games. We were there yesterday and had some great craft beers at the bar and even had some menu items. The egg rolls were big and tasty, and the black bean garlic chicken is excellent! I will definitely eat there again!

Had dinner last night here. The restaurant is set back along the river. Huge parking lot - lots of parking. The entrance is easy to find & the reception area is beautiful. The interior of the restaurant is huge, we were given the choice of booth or table. Am I glad we chose the table - they seated us next to the bike path/river. It is beautiful!! Lots of snow geese - babies, too. I could sit there all day - just gazing out. We ordered shrimp chow mein & Kung pow chicken with brown rice. Each entree comes with your choice of rice rice & your choice of soup. We chose sweet & sour. It was more sweet than anything else. It tasted like BBQ sauce. No vinegary at all. Kinda weird. Veggies with little bits of meat. Not really what I would call hot & sour. And it was brown. And there were crackers on the side. We shared entrees & got a couple of extra plates & split it. The chow mein was ok. Huge plate, very hot food. Nothing spectacular. Fresh veggies. Needed flavor. I added some spicy stuff to it. The Kung pow chicken was really different. The chicken was steamed & tossed with anemic looking veggies. The whole dish was one color. Nothing green on the dish at all. The sauce was blah. There were peanuts on it. It was not spicy at all. We had enough left-overs for both people to take some of all home. The portions are huge. Very Americanized. I love chinese food & know how it should taste. Probably will not be back. However - the view was sublime & if I ever go back that would be the highlight of my meal.

This place is terrible... Anyone who gives it more than 2 stars is completely lying or in cahoots with management! There were no more than 6 other people in there with me. I can see why! **The one bright spot the servers/hostess were extremely friendly and quick on any requests I had!** I walked into the restaurant and my brain instantly told me to WALK AWAY but my urge for Asian food got the better of me. I ordered the Fried Shrimp/Fried Rice Lunch Combo and chose Hot & Sour Soup. Hot & Sour Soup: The soup looked like it was made god knows how long ago and was totally reheated! It tasted awful, there were pieces of cooked ground beef in my soup that looked and tasted OLD! Fried Shrimp/Fried Rice: I knew it was too good to be true because my waitress told me that the combination came with both fried shrimp and fried rice. When she brought out the food I had to hold the urge to face-palm myself...The "fried shrimp" fried in pancake batter and to top it off, the batter wasn't cooked all the way on some of it! Then to make it was, the so-called fried rice was definitely not fried rice...It was soggy rice (probably a day old) thrown on a wok with some chives thrown in with some soy sauce poured in...That is not my definition of "Fried Rice" but if ya'll think it is, please let me know... I would not recommend this place to my worse enemy!

WTH happened to Kowloon? It used to be sooooo good and now it's just awful. I really wonder what happened?! I would have given it a 4-star review in the past because it used to have well seasoned food, great service, and yummy egg rolls. Now, it's so bad and I gave it 2 chances just in case they were having a bad night. The egg rolls now look like they have been fried several times. (Like maybe last nights egg rolls dropped in the fryer again and served?) The food is so super bland I could not believe this was Kowloon. Really shocking plunge from 4-star food to 1-star food. :( So sad.

I recently ordered takeout from Kowloon. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken chow fun. The chicken chow fun was delicious! I ordered it with a few modifications, removing the ingredients that I don't like. They made it to my specifications with no problem. All in all, this dish was a 5 of 5 stars. The sweet and sour chicken was downright flavorless. The chicken seemed like it was lacking salt or something--I couldn't put my finger on what was missing. But the worst part was the sweet and sour sauce. It was very liquidy. I prefer my sweet and sour sauce to be thick, like cherry pie filling without the cherries. This was just runny and flavorless red liquid. I give this dish 1 star. They must have 2 different cooks in the kitchen..... When I called in my order, the employee had significant trouble taking my order over the phone. I don't know if she was new or what, but she had me repeat my order several times, and then she went and asked for help from another employee. I could hear them trying to figure out the computer over the phone. When I got my food, I was surprised by how large of a quantity I received. The meal was expensive in comparison to other Chinese restaurants, but I didn't want to eat the chicken leftovers. (so I'm not sure where the value lies here) The parking was excellent, with many available parking spaces. The location is in a nice place as well, near Autzen Stadium.

This place was pretty bad. My wife ordered a tofu dish, and got a huge plate of undercooked (maybe uncooked?) tofu squares in what looked like a pool of mucus. No vegetables. No flavor. I felt bad for dragging her there. Now she refuses to ever eat any Chinese food ever again. This is unfortunate, because we might someday move to a town that has good Chinese food, and I'll have to go out by myself. We should have taken the time to drive up to Portland...

It's gotten to the point where I'll pump up my bike tire that has a slow leak and ride my hungover ass the 3/4 mile to the grocery store in Winter before I'll order Kowloon for delivery (is there any other method?) It's unreasonably priced, and is really only good the first night you eat it. yeah, you know that feeling :-] The one where you start to get hungry the next day and remember you have chinese in the fridge, but you inexplicably put it off? It's WORK to get that obtuse brown paper bag out of the fridge, and pull out each individual container (cause you've got plenty of counter-space, right?) only to have to contend with that uncomfortable sensation when you open the lids and the condensed water on the underside of the lid contacts your skin. Then you're dumping your clumped up rice into a bowl, next hoping not too much chow mein slops out of its container on top of the rice (there is no "control" of the chow mein flow, just portion winners and losers,) and topping it off with your congealed breaded meat lumps. You wave it for 3 minutes and the rice is still dry, the food hasn't heated evenly, and you're gonna feel sub-par for a several hours after eating. Kowloon exists because people don't wanna pump up their bike tire. I like the egg-rolls, though.

I used to go to Kowloons quite often. They were raved about by everyone I knew. I thought they were average food with nice amenities (view of the river, full bar, gaming). However, I haven't gone in quite a while, but then I went there just the other day with a new friend for a drink. Thankfully, I knew ahead of time that they make all their drinks in short glasses unless you specify you want tall. We played some pool on the one table with the working light. My friend noted that it was a Saturday night (8:30 ish) and no one was there. I found that to be surprising as well. Then we decided to order the appetizer plate and some egg flower soup. I asked if I could substitute one item and was told "NO substitutions." OK, so we said just give us some soup and we will go somewhere else to eat. That was a mistake...we should have just gone somewhere else without the soup. It was cold, flavorless, and congealed. YUCK! Add to that the fact that the music turns to LOUD hip-hop at 9:00. I won't be going back for food...unless they change owners. Perhaps someone who actually wants customers will buy it. And I won't be going back for drinks unless I know I will be out by 9:00 - I don't mind hip-hop as long as it is in the mix with other stuff, just don't make me listen to one after the other after the other. In the meantime, LOUIE'S in Springfield also has a full bar and people who seem genuinely happy to have customers. I know they are a little more difficult to get to, but much more worth it.

Kowloon's, what happened to you? I've been eating here for over 10 years. You used to be my favorite. I always recommended you to everyone and never heard a negative remark back. Over the last year or so the food has gone from mediocre to just down right bad. There is something wrong when the highlight of a $50.00+ order is the steamed rice (which was supposed to be fried). I would give you one star but I just can't bring myself to do it. Come back, you're just a shell of your former self.

I actually signed up for a yelp account JUST to write this review and I never write negative reviews! That's how crappy this experience was. Ordered $41 worth of dinner. Took over an hour and a half to get my food after being told 45 mins. When the food got here it was completely cold. Called the restaurant and waited on hold for a while to talk to a manager who offered to send me more food so my son and I could wait another 45-90 mins for it. No apologies, just attitude. I told him I wanted a refund and he said thats fine but I have to I put the food on the porch for them to come pick it back up. He confirmed that he didn't care if I ever ordered from them again. Well I'm glad he's ok with that. I guess you don't have to care about service and losing customers if you have a fresh batch of college students every year to choose from. The little Chinese place on 18th and Willamette by the the closing Blockbuster video has much better food. Too bad they don't deliver but I'd rather pick up the food anyway if I get to pay less, get better food, and get better personalities.

This review is for The City portion of Kowloon's. Sorry, I didn't see it posted on Yelp. Anyways...this place is odd. Here you have a Chinese Restaurant that is typical of any other place....but then you have a newly updated bar attached. It's not all that bad really. A few pool tables, what appeared to be a dance floor with possible karaoke...a few TV's. Nothing special really. Tried out one of their "$2 Long Island" specials. It was pretty awful. Pre-made mix, too much sweet and sour....no coke? It was odd. Also, it was served in a short glass. What do you expect I suppose. Next, I ordered a "Dirty Shirly" drink. AWFUL! It was so sweet I could hardly manage to drink. It also tasted like cough syrup. When I noted to the bartender it was a bit sweet....she really didn't care. Should have stuck with beer. Seriously.

Had delivery to my hotel from Kowloon after the front desk recommended it. Guy on the phone was friendly, order was accurate, delivered quickly, and the delivery guy was also very friendly. It was a bit more expensive even than Seattle chinese take out, which I already think is high priced. But I should have read the reviews before ordering. Then I would have known that we only needed to order half the food we did. Seriously the portions here are huge. I am sure the college students at UO appreciate the huge portions. We could not even get close to finishing. The egg rolls were strange in that they appeared to be regular egg rolls dipped in batter then deep fried. Although strange, they were tasty, but could have been drained a bit more. There was a lot of oil. They come in an order of 3 for $7.50. They really could sell these individually. The chicken stir-fry that came with the combo plate was pretty good and the chicken and broccoli was some of the best we have had. Vegetables were perfectly cooked and the chicken was not rubbery like some places. I would definitely try them again next time I am in town.

Why would Kowloon use chicken stock in their vegetarian dishes?? WATER can be used as a substitute upon request, but a veg broth option would be highly appreciated. Egg Flower soup tasted like chicken soup - it even came with a side of Saltine crackers! From their listing of Vegetarian Entrees, I ordered Egg Foo Yung minus the chicken stock and chicken gravy. Doused with hot mustard and low sodium soy sauce (the server initially said they only offered regular Kikkoman, then brought a bottle of the low-sodium variety a few mins later), the food was acceptable. Prices were higher than your standard Chinese food joint, but the portions were huge. Then again, who wants an oversize portion of s'okay tasting food? BTW, service was great.

Solid 3. I came here after failing to get Elton John tickets. I stood outside Autzen in the cold for a little longer than I wanted. So coming here afterward was nice because of the hot tea. Mind you, it wasn't great tea, it was just hot and my hands defrosted. The food was pretty tasty. The decor reminds me of an American restaurant, which it is, but it just serves Chinese food. The bar next door seems pretty cool; I'm gonna have to check it out another time. This place has a cool view of the water. Next time I come here, I'm going to request a seat with a view of the water.

Food is decent. Delivery is nice but takes a long time. I called for a pickup but they wouldn't take my credit card unless they charged me delivery, I guess they didn't want my money. I won't order their again. A business that doesn't want customer money and treats me like they are doing me a favor doesn't need my business.

Kowloons is always great when you're looking for late night delivery, or a beautiful view of the river. Plus, the portions are huge! One entree is enough for me and my boyfriend to share-- with leftovers! They also have a bar with really friendly bartenders who are quick to serve you!

Pretty darn good. Can be a little bland/greasy but sometimes that's just fine in delivery Chinese. Like the egg rolls, egg flower soup, sweet and sour pork, and chow mein. I've only ever gotten delivery and it's never really been a disappointment. Recommend for delivery!

I heard good things in the past but the present is a different story. Wouldn't go back. Bland food, stale fortune cookie, hot and sour soup that was neither. Overpriced, even charged extra for fried rice.

I've been eating at Kowloon's for at least 10 years, and I have to say that the place is pretty good. I'm not a big fan of most of their dishes, but the mar far chicken, with the Kowloon's sauce (shrimp sauce) they bottle on the table, is one of my favorite things ever. Plus, they have a wonderful hot & soup soup that I strongly recommend. Other than that, for two people, the family dinners are actually a ton of food for $20, with leftovers for at least one meal. They also have a full bar, which is a plus, and a good drink/martini menu.

Kowloon is one of our family regulars when we go out to dinner. It's dependable, tasty, affordable Chinese food. The restaurant is always clean and comfortable. They are very accomodating to us when we bring in large groups - even if we haven't called ahead. The servers are professional and efficient. If you can request Shawn as your server - I guarantee you'll have some of the best service in town. The mar far chicken is an absolute staple for our family. They manage to deep-fry the white meat so it is very juicy and tender but not greasy. The kids love it! There is a coupon in the Register Guard every week (on their website too) for a family-style meal for $9.25 per person. You can even order, say, three of those meals but ask for four plates, if you think that's all your group will eat. I have always found them willing to accomodate substitutions! Yay! Finally, the dining room is open until midnight so it's a great place for a late dinner or to have dessert after a show. A tried and true in Eugene...

Kowloon's doesn't strike me as much different from many of the other Chinese restaurants in Eugene - save the fact that it operates a Night Club in the Dark hours in addition to the restaurant. The decor is the usual tacky half-assed attempt at something oriental, as if simply a picture and a few vases will cover up the impression that the place looks like it belong's to a strange mix of Denny's and some hotel's dinning service. I was impressed by the food, however. Having had more than simply lackluster experiences with Chinese food in the past, I was pleased with the variety offered by KowLoons, therefore offering up something to fit my palate. The staff is superbly friendly. My family brought along not only my three just turned four year old brother, but my one year old often-times brat of a sister. With all the noise that my sister made I feel sorry for anyone that had to sit near us. The gal that brought out a cup of applesauce for my sister is not only genius, but generous - and deserves a pay raise. If only I'd caught her name.

Kowloon Fried Rice. My favorite. If you like it spicy, ask them to spice it up. The Family Style Bean Curd is also good, if you like tofu. Some of the stir fry dishes are... ok. Not great, just ok. And you can either eat in the dining area or in the bar. Great atmosphere on Duck game days.

The ONLY thing to possibly recommend this trainwreck of a so-called "Chinese restaurant" is that they deliver until 2am. Of course, the down side of that is that the food is truly awful. It takes dedication to make potstickers this bad, and the Kung Pao Chicken was literally inedible. I not only would not recommend Kowloon, I will steer people away from it. You could probably get better Chinese at Chuck E. Cheese.

In my attempt to find decent Chinese food in Eugene, I ordered take-out from Kowloon's. I remember an advertisement where they talk about their fresh vegetables - I must have ordered the wrong dish. I ordered the Kung Pao Beef and my fiance ordered the Szechwan Beef. The Szechwan had more vegetables, but other than that, our dishes tasted the same. The sauces were not flavorful or spicy for either dish. Mine had very few veggies. I did appreciate that they gave us a lot of meat, but I would have gladly taken a few colorful veggies instead. The next day I opened the carton for leftovers. I saw greyish-brown lumps within congealed pockets of grease. My search continues.

  • Eric L.

This place is great if you hate vegetables and want a plate of deep fried meat w/ rice, served with colorful sauces. (I really don't mean for that to be condescending, its just truth). The service is fast and you get a lot of decent food for the price. Would definitely order from them again.

  • Trenna W.

By far, the best Chinese I've had in Eugene. The ingredients are fresh, and well seasoned without using salt as a crutch. The meat always ends up tender, while the vegetables stay crisp. Eating in the restaurant, the wait staff has always been attentive, happy to (accurately) answer potentially annoying questions about whether particular dishes contain any traces of several ingredients I avoid (pork, shellfish, dairy or fish in the meat items ...), and happy to accommodate. The atmosphere is comfortable and feels intimate even when crowded, with lovely views of the river. Delivery takes at least an hour, but it well worth the wait, and they accept credit cards. They are particularly generous with the delivery items, often including an extra half-filled carton because the cook made more than would fit in one.

Kowloons is really nothing special when it comes to Chinese food. I usually order some variation of sweet and sour chicken or pork. It's adequate, but a little greasy. The fried rice we ordered last night smelled like a wet dog and didn't have enough pepper or something. The fortune cookies were a little stale. And it only took an hour to arrive at my house.

Decent, cheap, chinese food to go. This is a great place to order delivery when you're in a crunch or it is finals time and don't want to have to deal with cooking... I forgot what I used to order, but it was decent for the price. The quantities are great, and the food was what I expected -- pretty good, edible chinese food. One funny story -- one of my roomates used to smoke, and I recall their menu used to offer cigarettes. So, one late night we ordered food, and he had just run out of cigarettes, so they delivered him a pack with our food. I wonder if they still do this.

I called in to place an order for lunch and spoke with the Bar Manager. I asked what is the dish that has a picture on there web site under dinner entrees. What manager doesn't know there restaraunts web page it had been the same for years. I couln't order that dish so I proceeded to order what I always order. There are to many peolpe who need jobs in this community Im sure they would make better Manager.

Gross.

Awesome food. Very tasty. The service is great. I went there for my 21st birthday and they were very hospitable to my needs and even gave me free cake! Yummy! Definitely a great place to go to!

Kowloon is great for hanging out before Oregon Duck games. We were there yesterday and had some great craft beers at the bar and even had some menu items. The egg rolls were big and tasty, and the black bean garlic chicken is excellent! I will definitely eat there again!

This place is great if you hate vegetables and want a plate of deep fried meat w/ rice, served with colorful sauces. (I really don't mean for that to be condescending, its just truth). The service is fast and you get a lot of decent food for the price. Would definitely order from them again.

Cheese.

Place is not very good. Would be 1 star if they didn't deliver. Kung Pow chicken barely had any chicken.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city.
