*(I wanted to give this restaurant a 2.5 star review)* We were looking to try someplace new in Eugene and Granary Pizza seemed to have a lot of positive reviews here on Yelp. After eating there, I'm not sure whether we had a bad experience, or you guys just don't know good pizza. We ordered the lamb kabobs appetizer and a Canadian Bacon, Sun dried tomato, and basil pizza. While the lamb kabobs were excellent in every regard, the pizza left a lot to be desired. First off, they forgot to put the tomatoes on the pizza. Even though this was mitigated somewhat by the fact that the server later brought out several small bowls of tomatoes, putting tiny cold tomatoes on top of the pizza is not the same as cooking them on the pizza. Second, the cook sprinkled basil on top of the pizza right before putting in the oven. The result was that our basil looked like burnt parsley flakes rather than fresh basil. The basil added very little flavor in that form. Third, the pizza was overcooked. The crust was burned, the Canadian bacon was dry, and the cheese was dark brown in a lot of places. Fourth, the cheese and sauce tasted like it was a very low quality. The best way to describe the service is "indifferent." They weren't polite and attentive. They weren't rude or snarky. They were simply indifferent as to whether you got drinks, when you got your food, what you thought of your food. The bill came promptly though. All in all, this was a very mediocre experience. If you're in the 5th St. Market area and you're craving pizza and you can't wait until you get to PRI, La Perla, Mezza Luna, or even Papa John's, then Granary Pizza will scratch your itch. Just don't expect anything life changing.

The service was decent. Ambiance was okay. However, if you are celiac or highly gluten intolerant, the GF pizza made me very sick. I couldn't find any warnings or tips from online reviews so I'm posting this for the sake of others. There was nowhere on the menu about the risk of cross contamination and yes, I ate at my own risk. If you are GF without needing to be, then by all means the pizza was pretty decent. But if you get ill like me... eat at your own risk!

The only place in town that has Daiya Cheese on their vegan pizzas! Amazing appetizers. Awesome ambiance and in one of Eugenes most historic buildings. So glad this spot is keeping the vibe alive. + they support great local music. Perfect for private parties and hot dates. Best pizza in town garaunteed!

I like the downstairs more than the upstairs. It's relaxed, inviting, and comfortable. The staff rocks! The nooks are great for dates. They have good food and drinks!

After a long week it was nice to venture downstairs Friday night and check out the newly opened granary pizza co. They had live music, great ambiance, and great service.

Best Gluten Free Pizza Crust in Eugene, especially when they come up with holiday specials or anytime they have the arugula and white wine pizza's on special. Best Food in a Eugene night club, hands down. The chicken strips are killer, but what really will knock your socks off are the chantrelle risotto mushroom cakes, the scallops or the ribs. If you're looking for a proper meal, get the Roasted Chicken, it's loaded with a ton of tasty sides and it's affordable compared to other restaurants serving the same thing. Love the vibe, love the atmosphere. It's got the feel of an old fashioned speakeasy, and live music most nights of the weekend. The staff is awesome, but they can be spread a little thin at times, especially when there's music. Watch out though, they don't open til 5pm though, so don't go down there looking to eat lunch like i did, ha!

This was our first and only time here. The price was decent and the pizza was alright. My issue is with the service. We were checked on in a sporadic manner. We had to wait to get our check which took about 10-15 minutes. After I got the check about 8-10 minutes before someone came back to run it. Simply running the card took about 10 minutes. I really got the feeling I could have walked out and not paid, and it would have taken at least a 1/2 hour for someone to realize we were gone. I WILL NOT GO BACK!

Food can be ordered gluten free and is organic locally grown. Great food. Tuesday karaoke was very fun. Cheap drinks. Excellent service. Will be back my next trip north. Recommend for sure.

Yummy pizza and good happy hour, even on Saturdays. Fun little rooms to hang out in (the green one is my favorite), and often live music. Chocolate dessert was less than impressive. But the Best Drink is, well, you know.

Adult mac & cheese knocks your socks off - try the daily special and have one of their lemonades, wow! Happy hour is super cheap, yum-o

The pizza is good if you are drunk. Otherwise, I advise you to go elsewhere. No flavor, too much cheese and hardly any sauce.

I went here twice in one week! The first time I came here with a girlfriend and the gyro pizza was so good, I had to bring my husband back to try it. The second time, it was still amazing and he was not disappointed after all of my high praise. If you love Greek food, you have to try this pizza. I also had the Oregon pear salad, which was yummy and the Kobe beef kabobs, which were a great starter, very tender, and had a great flavor. There mixed cocktails are tasty too and actually have some alcohol in them so they are worth there $7 price. I've tried the "so be it" and the peachtini, both very yummy girly drinks. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star rating is that there service has been kind of off both times I've been here. First time we were sitting in the wine bar and our server kept forgetting about us since we were the only ones in that area. The second time, he was nice enough but seemed a bit slow and distracted. We also received our appetizer at the same time as our salads, which is a pet peeve of mine. Over all, a great experience and I will be back.

This place is overwhelmingly "meh." I go for the happy hour, but wouldn't pay full price. The service is typical Eugene slow (wait to get seated, wait to get drinks, wait to order, wait to get food, bill comes and wait for the cards, and there are only 5 other people in the place). One reviewer said it best, describing the staff as "indifferent". They're not rude, they're not attentive either. They didn't seem to know much about their own menu, wine list, pizza options, etc. We've received pizza that wasn't fully as described on the menu, indicating that the cook staff are equally indifferent about paying attention to their own menu. The food is OK. Just OK. I'd pay more elsewhere for good, brick fired oven pizza (La Perla). There's something a bit "off" about the flavors. I don't know if it's a low quality thing, or just something not meshing, but the sauce/cheese combos just somehow don't blend well together. Overall, happy hour makes this place an affordable and palatable alternative to other 5th St. Market restaurants, and as long as they keep offering decent deals and coupons, I'll be willing to go there. They'll lose my business, though, if they get too full of themselves and start upping those prices.

Used our LivingSocial coupon at the Granary last night. Got in on happy hour drinks, then had a very good salad and pizza. Interesting choices of toppings but the Granary Pie was excellent. Service a bit slow but attentive, nice live music, very reasonable prices. You can tell that this place is as well run as others by same owners - Lucky Noodle and Ring of Fire.

The cherry Manhattan was really good--not crazy sweet, just right. I got 2 quick slices at the end of the evening and they were fine. By then I'd had 2 PBRs in addition to the cocktail and had met a handsome stranger at the bar, so I was no longer that interested in the quality of the pizza. The price was right--about $20 for the 3 drinks and 2 slices. Fun band and atmosphere. I love the low, timber ceilings. I also like it that they play music early, not starting at 10:00. It's hard to stay up that late, sometimes, but it's easier if you meet handsome strangers.

Oh man I just can't stay away from that place. It is just so good!! Im usually not a fan of pizza but they got me hooked! Love the mac & cheez, any one that lets me add bacon to my food makes me smile! Havn't made it through the whole menu yet, but im working on it. The wine list is great too. Atmosphere is so nice and calm espically after a long week. The staff is all so sweet and the bartender give the best service! I actually herd he has been bartender of the year before. Oh and the selection of music they are brining in is so entertaining!! Check it out eugene people!

I can't believe I've been in Eugene for 3 years and only tried The Granary for the first time last night! Their crust is absolutely delicious- quite possibly my all time favorite. Toppings were great- fresh and tasty. We had the Greek pizza and the waiter didn't hesitate to let us have 1/2 the pizza w/out meat and to substitute Italian sausage for the lamb sausage on the other half. Delicious pizza, great service, unique space. More things on the menu we're looking forward to trying. Will definitely be back!

This place has changed owners a few times over the last couple years and I am really happy with the current situation. I have been by throughout every owner. I have always liked this place because of the cozy bar with reasonable priced live music, often jazz. A great place to have a drink and listen to music. Usually local musicians but Eugene has an amazing group of talent to draw from and I have often been amazed at what I hear. The food is now excellent and served late. With some of the past owners the food seemed like a second concern to the music so I usually just had a drink but last night I ate and the menu choices are great and preparation also excellent. Italian themed menu but also unique and creative. I recommend the beet salad. The 12" pizzas were better than you can get at most places with unique combination's of toppings. They have some strange one table rooms that peek out into the main restaurant and bar for a intimate meal or a private party

It looks like reviews here are decisively split between those who really like The Granary and those who don't. I'm putting myself in the latter category. We took advantage of a Groupon or Living Social deal and got two pizzas to go. While our sixteen year old (who has a pretty sophisticated palate for his age) thought that his pizza was pretty good, my wife and I were less impressed. We rated it a notch above Track Town, which I consider pretty darn bad and the worst of the independent pizza places in town. Several weeks later, we decided to give The Granary a second chance (because we had another deal that was going to expire at the end of the year) to see if perhaps the pizza had lost something in the drive from The Granary to our house. Unfortunately, it was equally mediocre at the restaurant and we had to endure poor service and music that was so loud it was difficult for us to hold a conversation. We were seated after a ten minute wait. At least ten minutes after that, we were handed menus. We had some questions about the menu and waited for some time until our waitress got around to seeing how we were doing. We asked her about the menu and then she disappeared for another ten minutes, even though we were prepared to order. My son ordered a half rack of ribs and then minutes later decided to upgrade to the full rack so he could have leftovers for lunch the following day. In those few minutes, the restaurant ran out of ribs and he couldn't upgrade. I ordered one of the three beers on tap and she later returned to tell me that they were out of the beer I had ordered as well as one of the other two beers. They were also out of one of their pizzas. Not an auspicious start, eh? Our waitress went on to explain that this was their busiest Monday night that she had ever seen, but we were seated at around 7:00, so there's really no excuse for being out of so many items. As for the food, my wife's beet salad was very good and the serving was a good size. Even though Monday is two for one pizza night, the waitress neglected to tell us that. I realized that I could get a pizza to take home for free, so after ordering our dinners, I ordered an additional pizza. As for the pizza, it was marginally better than the pizza that we had taken out a few weeks before our dinner at the restaurant. In summary, The Granary needs to improve their service and, more importantly, make better pizza. Since the restaurant has the same owner as Ring of Fire and Cafe Lucky Noodle, we really expected far better than what we got. The aforementioned restaurants are excellent, service is very good, and I highly recommend them if you're looking for Asian or in the case of CLN, Italian cuisine. Go to Pegasus, La Perla, Sy's, or Mezzaluna if you're looking for good pizza in Eugene.

Eh. We were excited to see something in this former Jo Fed's location. It's a great space and we're excited to support a new business in town. However, a new restaurant needs to have great service, or great prices, or great food. At least one of the three. This place is poor to just okay in all three areas. Service was slooww, overly persistent but not friendly. Prices were too high for the quantity and quality of food. $10 salads are small and soggy. Pizzas and pasta are bland. Drinks are weak. Prices are comparable to PRI, but quality is nowhere near as good and meals are a fraction of the size. When we got asked to pay a cover, after waiting an hour for our meal, for the too-loud band playing, that was our final straw. No hard feelings, but with amazing food at Belly just upstairs, and great pizza and amazing, huge salads at PRI not far away, it's not worth coming back here.

We've been here many times and it's always good, but last night was fantastic! We've recently returned from a trip to London and Paris, and we both agreed that the crab and shrimp ravioli was as good as any meals we had there. The pizza and cookies and ice cream for dessert were also wonderful.

Worst service ever!! We waited forever for our food, the server was exceptionally inattentive, then we waited forever for our checks...all the while listening to Jack Johnson playing over and over...and over...and over... Cheesy atmosphere, bad lighting, mediocre food. Won't be back!

Went there this past weekend to try someplace new. I ordered three slices to go and it took a good 30 minutes to get them. On the plus side they were huge and tasted pretty good. The slice and a pint for $5 was also a great deal but it was hard to track down the bartender for a refill.

I came here for a goodbye party of about 20 people. We were able to reserve the wine bar, which was a great space to mix and mingle as opposed to a long table where you're sort of limited to who you're sitting next to. The food and drinks were pretty good. My only complaint was really the service. The wait staff was nice, but we pretty much had one person serving all of us and it took about a half hour or more at time every time just to get drinks, including wine. Even so, I think I'd come back, because it seemed like a good restaurant with lots of things going on. For example, we had the option to go downstairs for live music, but ended up going elsewhere.

Good pizza, but the place also has a cool seating area. The little "rooms" give a semi private feel that is tough to get at popular places.

I have serious mixed feelings about this place. They have amazingly tasty food, the best ginger lemonade I have ever had, and the music scene in the evening can be great fun (I even met my husband there). But... As someone in the service industry I am under the firm belief that they under staff purposefully and that is what leads to the terribly slow service. If you're planning on going here, you need at lest an hour and a half to get food and get out, that's if they aren't busy. I have waited over 20 minutes just for someone to come see if we want drinks. I only order take out because their gluten free pizza is the best I've ever had.

Had an amazing pizza while listening to a live bluegrass band. We ordered the The Greek which had spinach, sun dried tomatoes, peppers, onions, olives, and feta cheese. The seating is eclectic and fun on multiple levels, the servers friendly, and attentive. I will say the beer selection was not impressive at all but the wine menu was not bad so take that under consideration.

Okay - the ambiance in this place is good. Dark and mood lighting etc. It was a seat yourself type of situation and so I initially met my friend downstairs and we enjoyed a good happy hour..... The Martinis are only $5.50 during happy hour WHAT?!??! They were fantastic... My friend said that the calamari was delicious too. The sweet potato fries are true sweet potatoes NOT yams lol We moved upstairs and met my parents for dinner. Our server was okay... but it was strange. Dad wanted the chicken on their menu (note it isn't a huge menu) and they were out and it was the BEGINNING OF the dinner hour and we came only 2 hours after they opened. I had been there the hour before and it was NOT busy. Okay so strange -- time to go to Costco or something... moving on... We ordered iced tea. I asked for a refill and I was told they were out. I was a bit incredulous --- and that is where I kinda drew the line. I asked if they wanted me to run to the store to get some tea for them. This was met with laughter -- but wait -- I was serious. What restaurant runs out of iced tea. I stopped Ash, who I thought was a manager and she most certainly is not, and asked about it. This is where service took a turn for the WAY better. Talk about high class service thereafter. She went and brewed more tea for us and then took it upon herself to make sure our cups were continually full. Note their lemonade is true handmade lemonade it just had ginger which I am not a fan of but try it. We got salads all around the table and they were good. Pretty good portion once the lettuce was spread out but at first we were taken aback about the size. Dressings are homemade and delicious. The pizza was okay. Pepperoni is homemade. Sausage appears to be as well. The bell peppers on the pizza were red which is different but fine. The live music was pretty darn good -- it was loud but they were a good band whoever they were. Kinda expensive but hey it was okay... We will give it a try again...

This review is for our latest experience. We have been before and had great food and service. We ordered sweet potato fries, fancy gourmet beet and blue cheese salad, and a designer pizza with gluten-free crust. Fries and salad were great. My family has severe immune response to gluten so after ordering we asked server twice to confirm that pizza was gluten-free. When it arrived we thought it looked delicious, authentic, and oddly like a real (wheat) pizza... The next day my wife had violent diarrhea and destroyed our car. The kids have been destroying the house with poop all day. Seriously Granary!? Get your shit together!

I used to love this place, and I don't mean a long time ago, but recently. The beet and white bean salad with feta cheese was excellent, the pizza - always reliable, my favorite cider usually on tap. Sadly, the last three times the food has really declined for some reason. It was like the beet and white beans were from a can or something - there was no flavor to them, and the pizza crust had no crisp or crunch to it - it was flaccid, almost soggy. And, really, the atmosphere as a whole - we got stuck in the downstairs, and when there's not a lot of people there (which usually seems the case) it's kind of like, well, a basement. I'm just not inclined to go back anytime soon.

The food was OK. They say us right away and said "a server will be right with you guys" So I don't think it is to much to except a server or someone to come take our drink orders within five minutes, but our reasonable expectations were not met. Fifteen minutes until we got drinks. DRINKS! She comes back with the drinks and takes our order and at this point we just want our food. We are hungry l. So we order something that shouldn't take to long, a pizza. I work at a food place myself so I know they take about 5-10 minutes, if we are packed 15. 2 hours I kid you not. Two hours. The waitress did not even come check up on us or offer us a refill. We had to actually tell a bus boy to bring her over. I'm not sure why we didn't just leave. Horrible experience

This is my new favorite pizza place when visiting Eugene! My wife and I just stopped in totally randomly and were apprehensive because of the mixed reviews. They had live music downstairs, so we peeked in and thought "hmm, not bad". Wow, truth be told, they were awesome! A bluegrass quartet. Before we knew it we had some great beer, salad, and pizza in front of us, and awesome live music. Everything was simply great. Happily 5 stars.

I went last week. The list of items they had run out of on the menu was way too large. Their mid level whiskey was priced like top shelf. Disappointing.

DLW and I had a Friday date night here, and had a good experience. We decided to skip the pizza, their signature dish, and opted for pasta. She went for orechiette with a rich crème sauce including bacon and sun-dried tomatoes. She was a little overwhelmed by the richness, but still liked her selection. I went for spaghetti with clam sauce. Surprisingly all of the clams were fresh and served in the shell, and there were lots of them. I love clams, and even I was satisfied with the quantity. The best part of clam sauce pasta is the sauce, all buttery, garlicky and clammy. They thoughtfully supplied a spoon as well as toast to sop it all up. Service was good, but not exceptional. Uniquely for Eugene they have live music during dinner. A duet of young women on guitar played earnestly, if not that skillfully. At least we could hear ourselves talk during dinner. For the experience prices are reasonable.

Ironically, I Go for the burger over their pizza. It's really loud during performances, so choose upstairs seating if you want to have a conversation with anyone. They have a decent drink menu. Nice place to go with friends.

The building is very unique, it seems to have secret corridors and goes down a story like a hipster bunker. Food is decent, I'm sure you will enjoy it on the nights when live music is playing. It definitely tends to lean towards the classic american style pizza - topping heavy, dense red sauce kind of affair. It's good in its own right, kind of like the way american chinese food is delicious in its salty fried glory but isn't really "chinese food" if you get my drift. But here's my only real issue with Granary... Marche Provisions is just right across the street and from a pizza purist perspective, Marche Provisions has WAY better pizza. So if Marche Provisions is closed I'll definitely consider Granary. But Provisions is more of a deli so if you are looking for a more date nighty kind of place Granary has the sit down dark room ambiance and attentive waitstaff you might want. But if you just want a quick slice or a perfectly thin margherita pie with hand made mozzarella, Provisions is the alternate option.

What a great Experience. My husband and I decided to have a date night on Wed. after work. We had been to the Granary for pizza with a few big groups before and really enjoyed it.. We sat in the nice bar area and had Ash as our server, she could not of been better!!, She treated us like we were having a special occasion. Wine by the bottle is 35% off on Wed. Over a bottle of wine, salads, Spinach dip and an amazing music track, we had one of the nicest date nights you could ask for. We went back the next Wed and had another wonderful time with A very nice waiter and of course Ash. Will be back!!!!

I nearly drowned myself in water after eating here. The salt content in the entrees must be dangerously high because I'm generally very salt tolerant. An hour after dinner, I downed a bucket of water, and would've had a gallon or two more, if not for fear of grisly death by electrolyte imbalance/potbelly explosion. That being said, if you're starving, hyponatremic, and desiring of better ambiance than you would get at Hometown Buffet, Happy Hour at The Granary will do in a pinch. I had a huge bowl of clams (with "chorizo and a garlic white wine sauce"- read spicy tomato sauce & pepperoni slices) which was awesome! Primarily because I had probably a pound of clams-- with grilled garlic bread-- for $6! (A fine and cheap dinner; that, along with some other Sysco catalogue-inspired plates, served at reasonable prices- french fries with ranch dressing, chicken wings doused in an anonymously sticky, sweet sauce.) Bottom Line: Much more fun than simply ingesting the contents of a salt shaker.

We liked the pizza and salad; margarita. Staff was great and music was too. Our only complaint was the seating in basement. Talk about small tables and uncomfortable chairs. Come on, I know you can do better. Had the Makers Mark mint julep; kinda wierd. Used brown sugar infused simple syrup- didn't like it.

This was one of our favorite places in town. We love the food and the atmosphere and whenever we had friends in own we would love to bring them in. Sadly tonight was our last time visiting as the staff, rather, the manager gave us some of the rudest service I've ever experienced. Repeatedly fighting us on claims of what we ordered left a taste in our mouth so sour we never want to return. It's sad but the food just isn't worth the service.

This was my third visit over the past year. On my second visit they told me after I placed my order that the chicken was sold out. Before placing my order Tonight, I asked if the kitchen had chicken and was told yes they had it. After placing my order, I was then told the chicken was not in a state to be cooked and they would need an extra 20 minutes. Seems planning is an issue...especially when it comes to their roast chicken. I then ordered chicken strips and fries. The chicken strips arrived undercooked in the center and no fries were delivered. We waited for someone to check on us which didn't happen and then flagged someone down to advise the chicken was undercooked. She offered to cook further but at the point I was feeling queasy about it. I mentioned fries never came and they were never delivered. My son ordered a beer. It never showed up. We mentioned it and it still never showed up. A bit later the waiter icame by and asked if we even wanted it anymore and we said no. Two drinks were taken off as a consellation and the undercooked chicken was removed from the bill. Planning is a not a strength based on my last two visits and their handling to poor service was not very good. Genuine acknowledgement and ownership of the mistake would have been appreciated versus blaming the new kitchen staff which is exactly the excuse they used on my last visit. Won't be back.

I like this place a lot (proven by the fact that I've come a few times). I've only had their pizza so that's all I am able to comment on. My favorite pizzas are the BBQ chicken and the eggplant pizzas. They had a specialty pizza one night with BBQ pulled pork and jalapenos and that was AMAZING, but I've only seen that once. The awesome thing (well, one of the awesome things) is that they will 1/2 and 1/2 the pizzas for you. You can pretty much do any combination of pizzas that they have. Not all places will do this for you. They will even halfsie pizzas with different sauces! Yum. I keep coming back. You should try this place. Bonus: They have live music some nights.

If I were to only review the food the review would be a 4-5 star, hands down. The food is absolutely fantastic and I'm sure is much more enjoyable in the comfort of your own home. The waitresses act like a bunch of ex-soviet war nurses who decided customer Service would be a fun follow up to euthanizing people for fun. If it took any longer to get the beer I'd have already completed the 12 steps and received a coin.

Mmmm, the best of this style pizza in town, and they have the option of gluten free crusts. I have tried quite a few of their pizzas and entrees and have yet to find something I don't like. My husband can't have red sauce, and they offered to sub white sauce on any pizza for him, and took care of his food allergy seamlessly, which is always a relief. I LOVED the clam and chorizo starters. My favorite thing is their habenero pineapple margaritas... they call them "Chili Margaritas" I think, although if you are not a fan of spice, the fresh fruit puree is yummy too. I have eaten in each seating area, and the service is top notch. My one complaint is that their live music, while usually good, is VERY loud, so that sometimes it becomes uncomfortable to sit downstairs, which is my favorite place to sit while eating. If I'm just doing cocktails I sit in the wine bar.

The only reason I gave them any stars was for their fries and their waiters. Waiters were very friendly, and consistent with checking up on us. The chicken strips were terrible. Chicken strips. Don't think I'll be coming back, unless someone changes it... Severely. ASAP.

This spot was a bit of a surprise. They really have three different experiences here. Being called a "Pizza Company" is a misnomer. They had a full bar and piano music downstairs, a restaurant mid level and wine bar out front. We had a simple and inexpensive meal with a salad and pizza by the slice. All okay and attentive service. I'd say dependable and I'd go again.

I have to award five stars for the chanterelle risotto cakes alone; so light and crispy with perfect soft insides; topped by firm, flavorful, saucy chanterelles; and finished with alternating cream sauce and rich tomato sauce. At this first visit, we also tasted their pizza via the $5 slice and a beer happy hour special. The portion was generous and the dough supple enough to allow for a Fold Hold, keeping the ample cheese and sauce within the confines of the crust to deliver the perfect bite every time. The ambiance contributed positively to the dining experience. I liked the private alcoves and music playing from downstairs. Parent's Note: This place is so cool, they even bring out a kids menu and crayons and offer the beloved plain noodles with butter and sauce. My kid shared half my slice instead and then tried to steal my crust - and this is a kid that usually leaves the crust behind. It's just that good.

The way people spoke of this place, I thought it as going to be amazing. The drinks were ok, but their ginger beer was a bit off. The pizza combinations were cool and actually tasted ok. Just kinda wished their crust had more substance to it and then this place would be even better.

I visited the Granary for the first time when a friend had arranged to have her birthday dinner at this downtown restaurant. Not in the mood that night for pizza, I went with minimal expectations...and was pleasantly surprised. They had reserved a large table for our party, and we enjoyed the live music that was being performed down below. Service was prompt, friendly, and overall excellent for the type of establishment the Granary is. Our server was able to provide accurate descriptions of the food and drinks, which made choosing what to order very easy. I tried one of their specialty cocktails with ginger, vodka and house-made kombucha and it was perfect. Their menu lists a decent selection of appetizers, salads, pizzas, pasta and a couple other entrees. Lots of vegetarian items or selections available. Some items can be ordered in half sizes, and pizzas can be ordered with different halves. Some items on the menu are sourced from local purveyors, but not all. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal of a small house salad with local greens, radish, carrot, tomatoes and champagne vinaigrette, and the risotto cakes appetizer that I chose as my entree, after being described as 3 decent-sized cakes served with tomato sauce and a rich chantrelle mushroom cream sauce. Other diners enjoyed their pizzas, roasted chicken, wings, baked brie, salads and such. Portions were average to generous; prices seem appropriate, considering the above. Birthday girl was surprised with a complimentary dish of chocolate ice cream and a candle. Our server was nice enough to let us pay with separate checks, even though the policy states on the menu no more than 4 credit cards per table for large parties. All in all, a good meal.

The extra star is for the food. But the service I have received here has taught me that I should never stay longer than it takes to pick up my takeout. I took some out of town guests here tonight and was terribly embarrassed at how absent and slow the service was. Granted, we were a big party, but that shouldn't mean 20 minutes to get an appetizer of French fries! We spent over 40 minutes waiting for our food, and one member of the party didn't get hers until another ten minutes after that. She had ordered the vastly complicated fish and chips. And the icing on the cake was the awful techno music played at approximately 140 decibels. We couldn't use our lengthy waiting times for conversation because we just couldn't hear each other. I won't be going back!

My family and I have been here 4 times now. We are vegan. We have ordered a variety of pizzas with Daiya vegan cheese and the wonderful green salad with basamic vinaigrette. Every time, the pizza has been fantastic, as well as the salad with it's wonderfully fresh greens. The service is very friendly and fairly quick. We like Sunday night the best, when there's a great little folk band playing. Our favorite table is in one of the fun little cubby holes with the green light. We have had lots of other vegan pizza, but this is by far the best. The reason is they have a very good crust and flavorful sauce.

I've never been for dinner, but the downstairs bar area has a cool vibe. The atmosphere is different than most places in Eugene, which I like. It feels intimate (dim lighting, small space) and the drinks are pretty good. It's worth checking out if you're in the 5th/6th street area.

While recently thinking of a different place to go eat, my girlfriend and I remembered The Granary! This place is excellent. Every time we have gone the service has been prompt, professional and smooth. The food is always top notch. the last time I went I ventured out and tried their ribs (pronounced- REE-OBS). This was a server recommendation and he (correctly) circled me away from the Steelhead fish and chips (which will be what I eat next time). Maybe. REE-OBS. I still have dreams of them at night and wake up nomming my girlfriends arm... I got the baked mac n cheese for the side dish, best decision I made all week. My girlfriend got a crazy good looking salad with pears and cherries. Best decision SHE made all week. We both had dessert. She grabbed a flour-less torte, which she had before and knew it to be good n tasty. I tried the tiramisu and it was a bit mind boggling. Well balanced, perfectly paired with their excellent coffee. My only complaint? The tiramisu had a sprig of mint on the corner that I removed but it left a minty residu and threw off 1 bite of my dessert. I know, HORRIBLE, right? HAH. Go here. Eat here. Enjoy music here. Also, they had a Mai-Tai special going on and I had a couple of those. They are kind of the reason it took me a week or so to review... They were excellent and well presented. REE-OBS.

The vibe is great... The music all depends on who shows up that night. Some bands suck and it takes a little bit away from the experience, but some are great and it can make the night. The food is good but not amazing... And a bit pricey for what you get. However, it's a good pizza joint and worth going to.

Stopped in on a Sunday night with two kids (7 and 8)...The pizza was not great, but the atmosphere in the place gives it a big boost. Sunday night is Bluegrass night with a live band. We were lucky to grab a seat in the basement and had a great view of the band and of the lively crowd. The street level restaurant may not be as fun, and in truth the pizza does not warrant four stars by itself. Bluegrass is not my thing, but it's always nice to see local live bands and they were pretty good. Sunday night is also happy hour on draft beer...$3 for a pint...Only four beers on draft, but all local craft beers. I would absolutely go here again if I pass through on a night with a live band playing - Just make sure you sit in the basement.

Get anything chicken. They brine. Happy hour chicken strips were entree sized and of a quality that warrants 5 stars. Wait staff honored happy hour drinks 10 mins early, which was a classy move.

Wow, I'm pretty impressed! I remember this place from when it was Jo Fed's. At that time the food was mediocre but the entertainment was good. I didn't catch a whole lot of the entertainment this time around, but we had a lovely Yelp meet-up here! The food has improved significantly since the Jo Fed days. I was torn between the orechiette, which fellow Yelper James got (it looked sooo good), and the all you can eat spaghetti bolognese. I went for the latter, which was cheap at $8, but I'm sorry to say I let myself down and was only able to eat one plate. I blame my mother in law for me not having more than one plate, since she had some thick, heavy risotto cakes, of which I probably ate at least a third. She didn't care much for them, though I'm not sure why, since a lot of us tried it and loved it. Heavy dish though, especially for something listed under appetizers. The only thing that was a bit much was the very loud live music coming from downstairs, which made it difficult to talk. Nevertheless, I can wholeheartedly recommend dinner at The Granary.

My GOD, I love the ambiance of this place. Went there for the first time last night, and I was surprised to learn it was actually downstairs and underground. Super intimate seating and there are even some cool, secluded booths if you're looking for a more private dining experience. Hate the fact that the food just wasn't up to par. For such a warm, ambient establishment, I just wish the food was much better. The pizza looks good, but I swear the tomato sauce is like...Prego? Our pear salad was meager at best, and i'm convinced I can make something much better. The only reason why i'd give this place another shot is because i'm totally into hanging out here with a bunch of friends and I must see what Happy Hour is like...Updates to come, friends.

Excellent pizza, some of the best I have ever had. The staff is very friendly, communicates clearly and do what they can to please you. Cool setting. Parking is a bit of a pain but worth it. Music on Friday and Saturday night. Ice cold beer ......... what more can you want?

I went to The Granary on a Sunday evening around 8:30 pm. After standing by the "Please wait to be seated" sign for ten minutes without seeing a single staff member, my friend and I headed to the bar to try for service there. There were only two other people at the bar but the bartender didn't even acknowledge us for several minutes. We didn't get to order food for another half an hour and it took at least that for our order to arrive. The music was so loud I could barely hear my friend and there were people making out in this "room"/closet behind us. That being said, the food was wonderful. The fettuccine noodles are homemade and once I had a few drinks in me I didn't mind the music. If I go back, it will be for takeout.

One of our favorite little places to go! Love the live music they have. And the dishes are unique and tasty! The drinks are also good! It is a little spendier but worth it to treat yourself. And they usually have a special/.

I come here regularly primarily because of the entertainment. The Green Mountain Bluegrass Band consists of talented musicians that rock the place every Sunday downstairs. The waitstaff are also friendly and are still attentive even when there's music playing. I usually get calamari, because I like how they make them: crisp breading and doesn't leave an oily taste in my mouth (though I wish it came with cocktail sauce...I should ask for that! It comes with an aoili that's quite decent, but I personally prefer the tartness and red hue of the traditional cocktail). I usually don't have pizza, though several bites from my beau's various orders have been delightful. I do like their huge salads, too; the one with beets is my favorite...it's earthy. I once had the chicken entree and loved the tender meat, the polenta and the thick, creamy sauce it came with. However, I wasn't too pleased with the inconvenience of carving the meat from the bones nor how my dairy-intolerant stomach didn't accept the rich sauce. The best part of The Granary besides hosting an awesome, local bluegrass band is its business hours. Need a drink with an appetizer at 1 am on a Thursday night or late dinner on a Sunday? The Granary fulfills that need.

We have been going to the Granary quite regularly and have eaten both in the bar and in the regular restaurant. I have a mixed review here. I want to love the Granary because I like the help and the atmosphere. My favorite times have been when we have gone with another couple and sat in the private booth upstairs. Once was a Friday night and the music was so loud we could not have held a conversation had we not been in that booth. I love the sea scallops and usually pair them with a Caesar salad that I also find very satisfactory. For $21 Mike usually gets the crab and shrimp ravioli. I think it is okay, but nothing great. Tuesday nights we tend to eat in the bar. The tables look out on 5th Street and the special is all you can eat pizza for $8.00. You start out with 4 good sized pieces. Last night I asked if we could get that order with one half pepperoni and the other half margarita. The waiter said that would be fine, but when he brought it he brought two separate orders, which was way more than we wanted. I had also ordered the 3 large sea scallops, which are $9. All in all, I had 3 scallops and one slice of pizza for $17.00. I realize that this was just sort of a mishap, but to top it all off, the margarita pizza was the most bland pizza I have ever eaten, and for those of you who know me, that must have been very tasteless because I do not like spicy foods! All in all, I guess I wouldn't be opposed to going back....maybe just not as often. Wednesday night is all you can eat spaghetti....We might try that.....

This place has fantastic pizza! I had the happy hour slice for $3, and it may be my new favorite pizza in town! I got the Margharita, and oh my gosh, the crust was perfect. I cannot rave about the Caesar salad, however. The dressing was not very flavorful, and I wouldn't order it again. Melissa was our server, and she was stellar! I look forward to more fabulous pizza here.

The quality of music here is great! The "stage" sucks. The booze filled concoctions are tasty. The tucked away booths are a nice touch. When it's busy here they don't staff well. The last time I was there it was packed downstairs with one bartender(pouring for the bar and the upstairs restaurant) and one server. It was a friday night. Really?!? What a great way to kill your staff, sell less and make your customers wait an unacceptable amount of time for anything. Good call granary! When it's not packed the bar is cool. Go there and drink. Food...i've yet to consume anything but copious amounts of refined spirits.

I was a frequent visitor of Jo Fed's back in the day. I loved the space and the casual atmosphere. When it transitioned to The Granary, I was reluctant to give it a try. I finally gave in and went last weekend with the family, kid included (Kids allowed until 10pm downstairs and 11pm upstairs). I was happy to see that they didn't mess with the space too much, only improving it (the upstairs looks great). We arrived right at 5pm, when the doors open so we had our pick of tables and chose the " Red Room." Our waiter was great. He was pleasant, patient and made great suggestions. Especially the Blood Orange Margarita (his specialty), which was hands down the best margarita I've ever had. The daily Happy Hour, which runs from 5 -7pm offered up some cheap and tasty options, including chicken strips that my 11yr old devoured. I had the homemade vegetable minestrone soup, which was filling and full of flavor. The 4 of us left full and happy, and with money left in our pockets. I have heard and read a lot of mixed reviews about the food and service, but our experience was nothing short of a great night out with good food, drinks and a nice relaxing place to enjoy it all. If you haven't been to the Granary....give it a try and decide for yourself.

Ordered the Thai Chicken pizza, which was also a favorite of my waiter. It was delicious, instead of using a peanut sauce base which I don't like. They used a creamy tom yum base which I think suited this pizza much better. Really recommend this pizza.

I've enjoyed this place twice for dinner and a show, once for lunch with my daughter (she can't wait to go back), and a few times for late night drinks & nibbles. The space is dim and delightful, but be aware that it can get a bit loud at night what with the live music, even if you sit upstairs in the main room. The pizza is made to order from scratch. Expect to wait for it; this isn't Pizza Hut. It is a bit spendy for what it is, but we'll come back. Only Pegasus has gluten-free crust that can compete. I'm not a red sauce person, so I can't comment there, but the pesto is divine. Everything else has been delicious, too. Memorable flavors include the salad with goat cheese, beets and hazelnuts, the steamed mussels, and an appetizer (a special?) with fat diver scallops. This is not a place to go if you are very hungry or in a hurry. The service is a bit more leisurely than most Americans would like. That said, I have always found the wait staff to be knowledgeable and professional.

The music they have was good but the service was not up to par. I have been there multiple times and each time there was issues with the service. the first time the waiter never came by the table or unless we grabbed him. He never filled our water without being asked and he brought us a plate of penne pasta and argued with me that it was the calamari. The second time it was very busy and there was great live music but they only had one bartender on staff on a friday night with music. It took 25 minutes to get 1 drink.

We finally checked out the Granary last night to catch the bluegrass band that played our wedding. I'd forgotten how much I missed the bar area, with it's cozy alcoves, old wood and decent accoustics. The place was packed, but we managed to score one of the alcoves with a great view of the band and great people watching. It was a very kid-friendly night and had a relaxed vibe. I was concerned, given how packed the place was, that the service would be worse than usual Eugene service. Not so! We were very well taken care of. Food and drinks arrived promptly, the waitress was attentive to our water glasses and very personable despite the throngs of folks needing her attention. We ordered the green salad off the happy hour menu and were pleased that it had bonus veggies like radishes and a good dressing. The pizza choices were interesting and we shared a half Greek/half eggplant parm pie. The eggplant parm was the surprise of the night, with perfectly breaded and fried rounds of eggplant - a new taste sensation for us. The crust was not to thin and not to thick, with a distinct wood fired char. Excited to have this place back in the repetoire!

This pizza place has the coolest vibe, great drinks and very tasty pizza. My BF and I were given a $5 off card so we thought we'd try it. I felt like I was going down into hole going down the stairs but once we got in there I was very impressed. Friendly staff, even though the place was slammed, drinks came fast, pizza took a bit but it was reasonable given the amount of customers. Quite possibly the best pepperoni pizza I have ever had! They had live music too which added to the cool vibe of the place. Will def be going back!

The granary has great options for dining. You can sit upstairs in an intimate bar setting, in the upstairs restaurant portion, or downstairs where there is sometimes live music and great little secret coves. The food is delicious and the drinks are scrumptious. Every day has different specials to help save a little $$. We have eaten everything from the ribs to the Greek pizza here and have always been pleased, even our kids love the "fancy pizza" here. We have always had great service, it's nice to see the owners maintaining the feel of the old Jo Fed's downstairs.

Wow! I grabbed a Mobba deal (half price gift certificate) to this place and it was well worth it! Sat downstairs in the bar area and it was a nice atmosphere. They have a family/larger group area upstairs. I'm totally coming back for the live music! Didn't try the pizza, so I can't vouch for that, but the Lamb Skewers were so tender and tasty- a bit spicy, but with the tatziki it was good. The Mac & Cheese was very yummy too, a good size portion, and came with a salad, so I didn't feel quite as bad about eating the cheesy goodness... the other seafood pasta dishes are next on my list to try. The mixed drinks were tasty, can't wait to come back on a busier night because there should be a good vibe. At the moment The Granary is closed on Tuesdays and not yet open for lunch, just dinner at 5pm (but said they might be soon, so call ahead).

I still stand by my previous post. The pizza here is outstanding! The amount of each ingredient is equally balanced. This time I got the Margherita pizza again along with an order of their buttermilk dipped chicken strips. These were the best chicken strips ever!

DISCLAIMER: The tempura-battered onion rings and bleu cheese dressing we had here were truly some of the best I've ever had. They are almost reason enough to come. This is a pizza company. Our pizza was burned. And dry. And the sauce tasted like canned tomato paste. They put basil on the margherita pizza and baked it so it was black. There wasn't enough cheese, and the cheese they used wasn't very good. Over dinner, we discussed the merits of choosing a more swanky, expensive pizza place (coughLaPerlacough) over this place because atleast your expensive pizza will taste good and be prepared correctly. Our waitress was nice but kind of awkward, and we did have to wait a while for our check at the end. It's a shame this place is so lame because the building itself is awesome!

Really great, creative food. We love the artichoke and the lamb kebab appetizers, and have enjoyed many of the pizzas. The music can sometimes be loud (so don't expect lots of conversation), but fun. THey have daily specials (like a free pint with a pizza) as well, so check those out before ordering. An added bonus is the gluten-free pizza. Crust is a bit chewy, but in comparison to most flat cardboard-like gfree pizza crusts in Eugene, I'll take it.

Great location and use of an old industrial building. Turned some interesting spaces into cool booths and places to eat. Pizza was OK, sauce a little sweet. Caesar salad was tasty and large was shareable. Scott was very accommodating and helpful. Great music and vibe, live music was warming up and it was looking to be a promising night. Staff was overall helpful. Good experience! Would recommend and return. Tap gives The Granary 4 stars.

Have to agree with the other Yelpers here; The service takes FOR.EVER. I haven't ordered the pizza (not much of a pizza guru). Our first time here was because of Anna Gilbert who was playing. We tend to order A LOT our first time somewhere. We had the Mac & Cheese, some ribs, salad, and onion rings. Everything was really tasty, not over seasoned, and freshly made. We've been back a couple times since, and while the food is inventive, and satisfying, the service is always slow. The last time, I think our server forgot about our chicken fingers, and then had the kitchen rush them when we asked about them the second time. He was nice enough though. If you're in a hurry, DON'T go here, but if you've got some time to kill, and looking for some different tasty menu items, it is a cool location to scratch that itch.

The food was good, good ambiance, and good music. The service was below par, lots of servers but the attitude was poor. Not only for my table but all the tables. Not a "fun" place, unhappy servers. I ordered a Rusty Nail, which I drink often. I came without ice and took over 15 minutes to get after ordering. I just went downstairs to the bar, expecting it to be real busy because it took so long. The bartender was just talking with a server, had to ask him for service. I asked him why he made it this way and he told me it was the "classic" way. I told him it always comes with ice and was informed that he did it correct and the other ways were incorrect. Wow, all the 100s of places I have had them and the recipes are all wrong. I took home a customer survey, filled it out with name, phone and the problems I had and sent it in by mail. That was over two weeks ago and still have not gotten a response. I'm in the service business myself and know that service starts at the top and moves down. I'm not surprised that the owner doesn't care, it shows with all of his employees. Will not go back here or to his other two restaurants, Ring of Fire or Lucky Noodle. Had the same experience at both, poor service.

I love this place! Great atmosphere and lighting. They have live music every friday or saturday? Not sure which day it is. During happy hour, PBR's are $1. So for all you hipsters out there this is the place to be! The vegan pizza is bomb (i'm not vegan either), but my favorite is the spicy thai chicken pizza. It's AMAZING! The only downside is that it takes a while to get anything. The waitresses have to go downstairs to the packed bar to get any drinks for upstairs (the restaurant). If they could somehow combine the winebar upstairs with some sort of beer well that would be fab. I would highly suggest it to anyone!

  • Victoria S.

First, the good news. If you're not here for the pizza, the other menu items are quite good. The food is fresh, carefully cooked and often local. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance is fantastic with a bar and music downstairs. (Try the silos upstairs - the actual silos of the old granary building, remodeled into private dining spaces. Way fun.) Now, the bad news. If you're here for the pizza, you're probably going to be disappointed. The price is great at $3 slice during happy hour 5-7. Unfortunately, the cardboard crust and tasteless sauce aren't worth the price. If you can live without pizza, this restaurant is worth a try for the other menu items and general atmosphere.
