After driving past Chingu (probably a million times) the curiosity finally got the best of me and I searched for it on yelp only to see great reviews! Risking my own reputation and the possibility of never eating Korean food again I took my non-adventurous mother there and told her what to get. We both ordered the Bipimbap (2 of them) and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was! We both made it home and fell into a beautiful food coma on the couch. The food was great and the staff was very friendly! I should note that the area outside doesn't look to nice (in part because the construction) and inside is more of a cafe seating style but it was all very clean. I base my stars on the food and service as it couldn't have been better :D Thank you for the great meal!

Don't judge a book by its cover! This place looks shady and scary from the outside and is easy to miss because the sign and building are all the same color, but boy is this a hidden GEM! My boyfriend and I were going to try the Chinese Resturant that is now in the previous Ring of Fire building until we saw the raw meat photo in the hallway on yelp and decided we should look elsewhere. I am glad we did because we ended up finding this place based on all the great reviews. It didn't disappoint. When we first got there, we were greeted right away by the very friendly gentleman behind the counter who was all smiles. The food was fresh and excellent. The shop was super clean inside and is completely different from the outside. The food was just amazing. Definitely going to be on our Top 10 list of all time favorite restaurants in Oregon!

YUM. This was great. If I lived in Eugene, this would be a regular spot for me for SURE. But as I was just visiting, my friends advised me to read the letters from the owner. I did and was so pleased. What a sweet story and the food was heavenly. The egg rolls were delightful! I'm craving it so hard right now. Wish I could try the hamburgers, but the korean fare was just calling my name too loudly for me to ignore.

  • Tina B.

Not easy to access right now due to construction, so support these kind people. Our food was amazing authentic Korean with just the right amount of heat. Excellent prices and service.

  • Tiffany M.

This place looks like a shady hole-in-the-wall, but their food is bomb! Finding a place with the perfect champong broth is difficult, but Chingu has it. And the service was great.

  • Hunter S.

This is my 3rd time here and I have never been disappointed by anything I've had here. The milkshakes are some of the best in town and their burgers are delicious! My girlfriend loves the Korean food and we both agree that the staff, especially the owner, is awesome and friendly. The place itself isn't the nicest building ever, but it's pretty clean and it works, just don't come here for an important, fancy date night. This place is a must-try for everyone in town. A total diamond in the ruff.

  • Giang N.

Owners are so nice so it made the food even more worth it. Smiles - Smiles - Smiles!!! I am very picky with food and coming from California Bay Area, we have very good food. For the price and quality ratio: 4 stars. Food taste NOT considering price, 3 1/2 stars. I've eaten better Korean meals but the bill was 3 times more, so would I come back here? Yes! I love Korean food and this place will do it just fine when I have a family of 5 I'm feeding and don't want a $100 bill.

  • Kelly D.

Absolutely love this place! Definitely good food and when my mom isn't making me korean food, This is the best place to stop by : ) The owner is always so sweet and comes out every time himself to see how the meal is. Its definitely good priced and great quality. I usually get spicy squid or any of their soups.

  • Leslie C.

Thank god for yelp cause we would've driven past this place. Small hole in the wall joint with great food. The Korean menu was delicious. Ordered the spicy squid, chicken bulgogi, beef yakisoba, dumplings, egg rolls all delicious. The burgers were also good. Fish filet not so much. Would be better if they were beer battered. Would definitely come back.

  • Caylin C.

Great food at a reasonable price for Korean BBQ.

    (5)
  • Jb M.

Absolutely love this place. The food is so fresh, the owners work are the nicest ... The variety is great. Simply a wonderful, casual, family friendly (and take out friendly) place.

    (5)
  • Cody H.

Great spot. Burgers, Korean Cuisine & otherwise, Chingu offers delicious food for affordable prices, but it's the exceptional service that brings us back repeatedly. No other spot we frequent has the owner working everyday, preparing food, and personally checking on us during our meal. We often hit this spot, and highly recommend it to others.

  • M M.

Love this restaurant. I had the bibimbap + a ginger tea, and my boyfriend had the beef bulgogi. Both entrees were excellent - very flavorful with fresh ingredients. I wish there was a little more meat in the bibimbap, but otherwise excellent. The hot stonebowl is no joke. Really crisps up the rice on the bottom. The ginger tea was too sweet for my liking, but I'll just skip the honey next time. The kimchi was top notch. The service was very friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be coming back.

  • Steven T.

This place seems to be run by the owner himself and it definitely shows. The service here is very attentive, the restaurant is extremely clean, and the food is fairly priced. I would definitely come here again.

    (5)
  • Monica R.

We had the spicy tofu yakisoba, the pork bulgogi, beef yakisoba, and the stone pot bibimbap..... Delish Kimchi! All of the dishes were spot on! The owner is super sweet and friendly. The food was suuuuper fresh and tasty, such a hidden gem! The only drawback is the tiny amount of parking, but I hear there is a parking lot behind them.

    (5)
  • Yi Jei W.

I had the spicy tofu stew thing with rice. It was great: the rice, unlike other Asian restaurants, is springy not firm + the flavor of tofu stew is great with seafood, veggie, and tofu. I would recommend this place becuz of the reasonable price, nice services, and great flavor!

    (4)
  • Nikolai S.

This place doesn't look like much, but the food is outstanding and the service is fast and friendly. I've eaten at almost all of the places like it in Eugene, and this one is one of the best.

  • Nikki H.

I love this restaurant so much! Everything we visit eugene, we stop at this restaurant. Zangpon's is so yummy, their soup base is amazing!

    (5)
  • Corey N.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. After living a year in Korea I can tell you that the food here is authentic. Also, with that said, the kimchi that you can buy from here IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. PERIOD. I didn't even like kimchi that much until here. Can't wait to go again!!!

    (5)
  • Loyd O.

i went there yesterday and tried their Bibimbap and Kalbi. it was delicious and the price is good. Ive been hearing about it from my friends and I never really got the chance till yesterday. Tip: The setting is not like that of a restaturant where a server will take your order. This one, you have to fall in line. To save you sometime, BiBimbap, Kalbi or seafood stew.

    (5)
  • Haeni U.

THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM! Their Kimchi fried rice, chicken bulgogi, & Zzamp pong were delicious! The owner was reaaly nice to us. Come visit people!

    (5)
  • Zoe Z.

It is almost impossible to find a Korean restaurant open on a Sunday in eugene and we were pleasantly surprised by this gem! We ordered the bibimbap with tofu instead of beef and the the spicy soft tofu stew with seafood. The bibimbap was delicious. It was full of fresh vegetables, well cooked rice and a soft egg. The bowl was sizzling and the rice quickly became crispy and delicious. The soup was also sizzling and made with fresh ingredients and seafood. The chef/owner was very attentive and the service was fantastic! Highly recommend this spot.

BEST KIM CHEE IVE EVER EATEN ! great service , excellent food .. im sad i dont live closer !

    (5)
  • Lee M.

They have great pork bulgogi and spicy soft tofu stew. We havent had their American stuff yet, but it looks good.

    (5)
  • Jesse S.

Never would have expected this place to be so good! I came in around 8ish on a Sunday so I should have expected it, but the restaurant was SO quiet like eerily quiet! Everything was prepped/cooked on the spot as I could hear the woman in the kitchen clanging around. The chicken bulgogi was the perfect level of spicy and I really appreciated how meticulously they must have trimmed the chicken because there was not gross tissue/fat anywhere on the chicken(like so many other teriyakish restaurants) Excited to try something new next time!

    (4)
  • Emily S.

Super delicious! Bi bim bop rocks and so does japchae! Owners are super sweet and hospitable. Great service, very clean despite age of building. Hard to find good Asian food of any kind in Eugene. This place is yummo.

    (5)
  • Stacey Z.

Great with kids, and tasty food! The price was good and the service--quick.

Chingu Burger Lovers can more accurately be called Chingu Korean Food Lovers. If you really want a good burger, go elsewhere, and really, why bother with something so commonplace when there are so many interesting options here? This is a go-to for lunch. DLW loves their soups and stews, always served bubbling hot and comfortably spicy. Bulgogi is hard to pass up whenever I see it on a menu. Look for interesting specials as well, especially seafood pancake. It's no-frills dining: order at the counter, fetch your own soft drinks, second-hand décor. But that helps keep overhead down, and prices are very reasonable. The owner is always on duty, super nice and attentive. Chingu means "friend" in Korean, as the menu informs you, and the owner even publishes his own newsletter which he offers free to customers. Remember he closes on Saturdays (his Sabbath), but opens on Sundays.

    (4)
  • Tom O.

Went there for lunch. Reminds me of a diner. This Chingu is the cleanest restaurant. I had the KimChe Rice with Chicken and Salad. All fo $6. Im plann on getting a burger next time. The flavors were a great mix. Best KimChe I ever had.

  • Darien G.

What an unassuming little building, with a small sign and huge taste. The Korean food is spectacular and plentiful. Great food at a more than reasonable cost, in just sad it took me a year to try.

    (5)
  • Toren S.

First t I me here got the chocolate shake and bibimbop, amaaaaazzing!!! Definitely a gem. Fantastic prices too!

  • Rachel R.

The owner is so sweet! This place is the best if you are looking for cheap eats in Eugene! Highly recommend!

  • Jennifer S.

So relieved this place was good lol. I had yoo gae jang and it wasn't the "best" I've ever had but it was good. My hubby had a mega double burger and he devoured it. I will def be going back to try more :)) I will follow up on my review as I try out more dishes there. I will admit tho that as soon as I saw "authentic Asian cuisine" it scared me a bit lol

I finally got to go try the Korean food I've heard so much about and I couldn't be more delighted with the experience. The menu is easy to navigate and the cashier taking the order is very accommodating and nice. you place your order at the counter and take a seat while it's being prepared. They'll then bring your food out on a cart to your table when it's ready. The inside was comfy and clean, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect the dining area to be but I was pleased with the whole design. I got the Spicy Tofu, perfectly seasoned big chunks of good quality tofu on a bed of yummy noodles. The protion was huge, I had to take some home. At the end of the meal, we were presented with a dish of frozen blueberries to cool our mouths from the spicy deliciousness we had just experienced. The food is mouthwatering and the service is so amazing. The chef comes out to your table to make sure you're happy with everything. They are so kind and talented here!

  • Barry G.

I like this place a lot. Food good. Burger good, bulgogi good, bimbambap very good. Kimchi good and everything very yummy and good

    (5)
  • Charlie O.

Excellent! Great diversity of quality options between Korean and American, with friendly service

    (5)
  • Beaver S.

No idea about the burgers, which seem to generate the negative reviews... but the Korean food? Top-notch! Excellent taste, super-friendly service and attitude. Clean dining area and restrooms, which is always a good sign. Korean is one of my favorite foods and this place blew my mind. Note to locals: the chef could hang in a much better city, so be glad he found Eugene! The beef dishes were better than the pork, in my opinion. BiBim Bap was excellent, and a good place to start for anyone new to Korean. Can't wait to try the Bulgoki sub the next time I'm in town...

Good food. Good menu. Always hot and the service is great. The owner is the nicest guy you'll ever meet.

I stumbled on this place by accident while my friend and I were trying to find something "one dollar sign" to eat. Upon walking in, we were greeted warmly and got a little bit of the burger speech (in a good way) but we were more interested in the Korean food. The woman at the counter was very helpful, sweet, and answered every question with a smile. She asked if we liked Kimchi and we both said yes, although we were kind of nervous about it. Our experience with Kimchi has varied. There were also enough good "non-meat" options for me to eat. I ordered the Soft Tofu Spicy Soup and she got the Spicy Beef Soup. Before we got our food, the woman at the counter brought us greens from her garden for us to try and they were delicious. When our food came, we were given a side of Kimchi without having asked for it. I'm extremely picky about my Kimchi but this was delicious. The beef soup was huge and extremely good. My soup was a little more normal sized, but also extremely good. My tofu hating friend loved it and kept trying to eat my soup! It was spicy, but not bad enough that I couldn't eat it. The most pleasant part was the chef himself coming to talk with us. That's a first for me. He looked extremely pleased by our reaction to the food and personally brought us more Kimchi when I said I loved it. I can't say on the burgers, but I loved the Korean food. I will be back and I will be getting more Kimchi and Korean! Even the story paper we got was cute!

  • Ashley U.

Food was amazing, the owner had such pride in what he was serving to us, which was reflected in the smile that never left his face. I was impressed by how clean the restaurant was. Not many people inside at the time we went but that's probably because the service was so fast! Will definitely be going back. The food was amazing. I had the soft tofu stew, my boyfriend got the poboy. Both were amazing.

    (5)
  • Chee Sing L.

Our party ordered kimchi rice, chicken bulgolgi, the sw pepper burger, an original burger with cheese, and ginger lemon tea. Everything was scrumptious and an especially good value for the price. The owner and staff were very friendly and personable too.

    (5)
  • Phillip W.

Good, wholesome food served by Mike Son, who seems very nice and friendly. Not as pungent or spicy as I expected of Korean fare, but maybe that reflects the Eugene vibe more than Mike's culinary bent?

    (4)
  • Larkin S.

This place is fantastic. The couple is so nice. Burgers are really good and bipanbop is the best in Eugene.

    (5)
  • Vam N.

The best Korean food I've had in Eugene. Great service, especially for a counter-run restaurant. I got the octopus and it was delicious. I will be heading back.

  • Christopher B.

I've now been here twice--once for the burgers, and once for beef bulgogi. I would say that both were great experiences, but their true (no big surprise) craft is in the Korean dishes. My friend and I both had something from the Korean menu, this time... both were very very good. I'm a bit of a burger snob/expert, so I won't really beat their burgers up too much. Let's just say that they get an A for effort... even if I'd rather have a burger from Carl's Jr. Where they really shine, however, is in the service department. I feel like the ownership/cooks/servers are incredibly dedicated to seeing their business thrive, as well as seeing their customers smile. I'm going to be returning to try a few more items, no doubt.

    (5)
  • Michael S.

We had never heard of this restaurant and drove by and thought we would try it out. It was AMAZING. Every dish was a pleasant surprise and the owners clearly cared deeply about the food and dining experience. The decor/ambiance is not high end, but the food is. Awesome place to eat.

    (5)
  • Helen B.

I reccomend the dumpling soup. I go here all the time. The owners are beyond friendly and everything I've eaten has been delicious.

    (5)
  • Marisa B.

Food is authentic and delicious. The owner is delightful and personable. I had the pork bugolgi. The kim chee was very good.my sweetie had the burger. It was good, but I'd order the Korean food because that is their specialty. Their bimbinbop bowl looked awesome. Try it you'll love it!

    (5)
  • Scott J.

It was slow when my group arrived allowing for some excellent table side service. We ordered 3 different meals (sharing is our code) which were quite good and moderately priced. I ordered a spicy dish and asked if mild was possible. It came out hotter than I like, yet I finished with a smile. Flavor was worth the burn!! And I quote Arnold, "I'll be back"!!!

    (4)
  • B A.

I am so happy we finally tried this place, after we realized it was the same people that used to own the restaurant by the old Market of Choice on Willamette St. Their Pho was spot on, delicate with delicious depth. We will be back, and back, and back! You cannot beat the price, the friendly service and good food.

    (4)
  • James T.

Food = 2 Price = 4 (5.00 for a burger and fries) Experience = 4 (nice service... but, average food) Burger was pre-made and very salty... Wendy's does a better job.

    (3)
  • Kirin W.

The BiBimbap stonebowl is amazing, crispy rice, with spinach, mushrooms, egg and perfectly seasoned. The beef bulgogi is also awesome cooked with onion, cabbage and carrot and served with steamed rice. The prices are great and the owner is the nicest person. so glad I found this place. I grab it on the way home for dinner and the restaurant is very nice and clean. Totally recommend this place.

    (4)
  • Danielle D.

The people that run the restaurant are very nice and it's clean. I liked the bibimbap and egg rolls. The seafood pancake was under done and a bit slimy inside. The beef bulgogi was a little dry. The kimchi wasn't good at all. I wish they had offered samjang. If I was craving Korean and this was the only place in Eugene, I would go again.

    (3)
  • Ofer D.

I have spent some time in Seoul, were, walking from the university, I would grab lunch at one of the family restaurants in Shinchon. Chingu is the closest I've got this experience here in the US. The Kimchi was fresh and flavorful, and the dolsot bibimbap was out of this world.I will be back.

    (5)
  • Derek W.

The food is cheap and delicious. Come for the burger, come back for the Korean. It's all so tasty and Mike is just so kind.

    (5)
  • Sam B.

Very good Korean food. Tasty and made fresh! The owners make and serve the food.

    (5)
  • Shannon C.

This food was very good. We had burgers and short ribs. It was all excellent. The service was wonderful. I would go back again for sure, there are so many other tasty dishes to try.

  • Luka M.

First time I have been here and I can tell you now I will be making many trips back. I got the pork Bulgogi for my first try and as I am eating it all I can say is it is divine. Pork is tender and spicy (which I love) and flavor is full and rich. Comes with good helping of rice along with cooked carrots, cabbage and onion. Sooooooo good. This is the best Korean food I've had outside of Seoul and I've only had one dish. Some people in the restaurant were getting Bi Bim Bop and it looked wonderful. Def gonna try that next. From the reviews I have read their kimchi is great, which is a huge deal breaker for me if it doesn't live up to what I expect, so I am excited to hear good things. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. It's a quaint place for maybe 30 people max, but it's nice and clean and very well set up. Parking was a lil difficult as there are only 2 places in the front, I think there is much more in the back, but I just went down to the next block and parked, no biggie. If you love Korean food then you should def check it out. I have been craving a place to replace The Plaza for quite some time now and his looks like it's got a great shot at doing so.

  • Barbara C.

Try the stonebowl bibimbap. Delicious. People are very friendly and food is very tasty

    (4)
  • Bethany S.

The bibimbap at Chingu is a staple in my diet. It's a pleasure to the palette and my body rejoices in the nutrition. Mike is a gentle, sweet host. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a simple, healthy meal in Eugene for under $10.

    (5)
  • Cindy M.

The $5 burger special is worth the money but that is about it. Oh no wait actually the people there are also very nice and sweet however their food is not good. I had the Korean spicy tofu soup and it tasted like hot water with chili in it. The rice was hard and the beef inside my soup was small and tough :(

    (2)
  • Taylor G.

I'm addicted to their pork kimchi. When I first ordered it, I admitted that I had never had it before. The chef ran back into the kitchen and came out with a small bit on a plate. The owners are really concerned about making sure you enjoy what you order. I can totally respect that. Gotta have a good reputation, especially for a place that's out of the way. I'm obviously no authority on kimchi, but two additional trips to get more have made me a fan. I ordered a British Burger (bacon, ham and egg) on one occasion, and it was decent. The fries were good as well. I'll be coming back for more of the Korean menu.

    (5)
  • Jesse R.

Trying the Kim-Chi burger. I did, it was fine. I was hoping for something special, seemed like it could be great if some thought was put into it. Instead, it was just some Kim-chi under the cheese, at least it wasn't cold. It is called Burger Lovers but I think it is really the Korean food that will bring me back. That is what looked awesome at the table next to me. The owner was super nice and everything looked clean and the food looked yummy. My burger was good, not great. J

  • Diana N.

This place was great! My boyfriend got the kimchi burger and I got the Big Bopper (avocado, bacon and cream cheese additions). The food was yummy - especially with the addition of the teriyaki sauce and sirarcha that was made available. The owner is friendly and attentive. From what I saw this was Korean food with training wheels, like the burgers with exotic toppings, but they also had authentic Korean food; I'd like to try it next time.

    (4)
  • Jesse F.

This place is awesome. Low prices and great food. Can't beat that.

    (5)
  • Debbie D.

What an interesting combination of offerings. Normally would have tried their standard Korean fare, but wanted to do something different. I had the kimchi burger and daughter had the beef bulgogi sub - both were excellent. Splurged and ordered milk shakes - also excellent. Recommend!

    (5)
  • Brooks B.

Great owners and delicious food. The owner/chef came out to stop at each table to say thank you and make sure all meals were satisfactory. Good guy. We got the pork bugolgi and the hot stonebowl. Both delicious and will be going back for sure. Other tables had back bowls of soup that looked good. Next time.

  • Jason G.

No! Do not go here if you want a burger. I took my best friend here because I was so excited to try this new, awesome burger place... Our burgers came with Kraft singles... A kraft single is not real cheese, I dont want one on my burger or anywhere around my burger. I havent had a Kraft single since I was like 10 years old. The meat tasted like a frozen winco beef patty... are you kidding me, never frozen? The fries were just ok, nothing special. The service was very nice and they were helpful. The cook had an inspiring story, so i really wanted to like this place. I wanted it to be amazing. He seemed like he really loved cooking for people. Maybe this review will help.

Tasty Korean food, get the bimbimbop in the clay pot, you will not be disappointed. The owner is super nice, they are kid friendly, and accommodating (yes we do need more rice.) I think we try to limit our eating here to once a week- So So good. Minor complaints: the ambiance is nonexistent. I wish they served more little plates of pickled deliciousness. The food is delicious and made with care. I have never had the burgers. The owner is changing the name to reflect the more Korean side of the business. yeah! This is a great place that should succeed. Check it out!

Burger Lovers, now also under the name Chingyu (Friend in Korean), is a DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH! The burgers are good. ok. This is how he can target a bigger customer base. Its buisness 101 for his location I think. :) With that in mind... the KOREAN FOOD is AWESOME! I often go in and buy the KIMCHI for home! Its some of the best and most affordable in town! He could even raise the price! Try any of the traditional bop bowls and the bulgogi varities are great as well! HELP KEEP THIS GREAT AUTHENTIC PLACE GOING AND EAT!!

  • David J.

The combination of service and great food make Chingu a family favorite! I enjoy spicy food and the Pork Bulgogi is awesome! The Stonebowl Bibimbap is another favorite if I'm not in the mood for spicy (especially on a cold day). I will admit that, although they've changed their burgers since they opened, this isn't the place I'd choose for a great burger. You will get a decent burger and fries, especially for the price and they make a very tasty chocolate milkshake. For a family or group that has people with reservations on korean food, it does make for a good alternative. Try the Bibimbap, try the Pork Bulgogi. In my opinion, they also make the best kimchi in town. We have been to the various restaurants and Asian markets in town and were very happy to see it for sale at Chingu.

  • Katherine B.

I used to live right up the street when they first started, I've been going here for a few years. Bugers are great, Korean is awesome; and they make dank fries. Plus, it's pretty cheap.

  • Julia R.

I love this place for the Korean food. I haven't really tried the burgers, but will probably bring my nephew, because he likes burgers but hates to eat anything as strange as bibimbop, so it's good to have the option of a regular burger for him. I love the dumpling soup with both duk noodles and mandu dumplings and the spicy beef soup. Both are great if one is feeling under the weather. The owner is very friendly and I really like the kimchi. Always clean and the food is always fresh. Highly recommended.

    (5)
  • Alicia Y.

Definitely one of the better places to get Korean food here in Eugene. I tried the seafood soondubu and the pork kimchi and the flavors and portion size were both good. I wish that they had given me a raw egg to crack into my boiling soup instead of doing it for me (the egg yolk had gotten rubbery by the time I found it in my soup), and they only give a dish of kimchee for banchan, but other than that I was happy with my visit. As others have said, the owners are very nice people and provide excellent service. Can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes!

    (4)
  • Camila A.

Super friendly service and great, unique food! Will come again! (I especially liked that our dishes came in a super, hot stone.) The owners are very friendly. :D

  • Delaine B.

Very tasty and with a great atmosphere. The owner is very kind and the food is fast and delicious. Though, you may want to skip the fries, they're the only sub-par thing about this place.

  • Ro R.

We had kim chi children burger and spicy tofu soup. Awesome, hit the spot!

  • Helen K.

Their burgers are NEVER frozen. They get new meat every three days, so they're always fresh. Their Korean menu is amazing, and Korean food is what I usually order. I recommend the Bibimbap (It's essentially rice with vegetables, meat, mushrooms, and all sorts of other goodness). It's served in a hot stone bowl, which keeps it warm. The owners are kind people, and they really care about the quality of the food. Burger Lovers has the best Korean food in town. Hands down. Burger Lovers is a hidden gem.

Loved this place. I had he kimchee pork which got better with each bite. Awesome kimchee on the side and the delightful treat of cucumbers from their yard at the end. Highly recommend! Awesome customer service too!

This place serves a very good, clean burger. You will be amazed by the precision and care that goes into the way the food is made. You can feel a certain Qi being passed along through it, as the owners are courteous, honorable, and community-service oriented. I have never met restaurant owners so nice. I feel like I want to just give them more money for everything they make just because I feel good when going there. A new criteria I have for going back places is if I feel good or not, and this certainly meets the mark. Highly recommended for both American-food and their Korean food. Even if you don't like the food so much, just go an support some genuine human beings.

No way. I came here after a few rounds at the driving range. I wanted a good burger and I've driven by here and thought, this place looks interesting. What the heck did I walk into? There's just about everything here. This is a one-stop shop. Get a burger, get some Korean food, wine, beer, soda -- play the piano?! What the heck, why is there a piano in this place. Anyway, I got a chicken burger and the bun completely died on me. I resorted to eating my burger with a knife and fork. My friend's burger did the same thing, and my other friend got a Korean dish. He remarked that it was the worst Korean food he's had or was suppose to have; he left everything but 3 bites. I'm pretty disappointed with this place.

They boast the "best burger in town" but I have yet to stray from the Korean menu. The bi bim bop is amazing, and cheaper than the other good Korean place in town. If you like seafood stew, order the #4 - bean curd stew. It's served boiling (crack that raw egg they gave you and mix it in!), with a layer of red chili. Flavorful, but not too spicy. The kimchi is real good too, and I only wish they woud serve more Korean style side dishes. Someday I'll order a burger.

I love this place. Weird spot...weird interior...very...1993...but awesome burgers and excellent customer service. Every time we have gone my bf would get a burger and I'd want to try the Korean food...but then again...burger. So I have yet to try the Korean. Big awesome burgers...not too expensive...yay!

I loved their Stone Bowl Soup, Sooooo Goooood!!! I took my picky family here; Mom, Dad, Bro. Sis. In law and their two kids, They All Loved It! Yes Even My Mom!!! (She's The Pickiest Eater I've Ever Meet!!) I have not taste their burgers nor ever will (not because of anything) I simply prefer Korean food over Hamburgers lol Their Kimchi tastes Delicious!!

I ordered the Bi Bim Bob in the stone bowl and it was good. It's like Korean meatloaf and I just like another local restaurant's better. They give you the spicy sauce in a little bowl, but are happy to refill it. I wasn't a fan of their kim chee, it was missing something and didn't have the snap I like. They also serve American food and I order french fries. They were ok, but nothing to write home about. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly.

BEST KIMCHI!! Hands down the best I've ever had. I normally dont even like Kimchi- but this stuff is good!!! I had the Spicy Chicken. It was Good! Really Good!!! My love had the Stone Bowl... Which was really good (I feel like the stone bowl @ Noodle Bowl was better tho). And a friend of ours had the Beef something, I think it was #1. And it was... well pretty much amazing. Gawd, just thinking about the Kimchi is making my mouth water. I really want some right now!!! I did miss the hospitality that I receive @ Cafe Arirang but the waiter was nice & as helpful as he could be considering... well he was "new" so he wasnt the best at telling us about the dishes. I also was bummed that they didnt offer spicy tofu. This place looks sketchy from the outside but the inside was cute & clean! I will go back and I urge you to go and try it your self!!!

Burger Lover's does great American and Korean Dishes. Everything I have had has been delicious from their philly to the bibimbap. The prices are great and the two that run the place are very nice and always welcoming. I feel at home here. My girlfriend and I can always find something to eat here because of the variety. Burger Lover's has become a staple in our restaurant repertoire.

First the burgers: These are classic American-diner style burgers, but a notch above many. Solid, tasty burgers with all the trimmings. Nothing fancy but good quality. I'd give the burgers 3 stars. Now for the Korean food: BEST kimchi in town. Tangy, not too salty and with a nice crunch. I could eat a bowl of the kimchi alone. It would be nice to have a bit more variety in the side dishes, but the kimchi quality makes up for it. BEST bi bim bop in town. Most varied ingredients, piping hot stone bowl. It's hard to say why I think its better than others, but it is my favorite. Good bolgogi. It isn't served on a sizzling platter and had cooled off a little on the plate but was still tasty. Korea House takes the prize for best bolgogi. Good clear soup to accompany the meal. The beef in the soup was a little tough but the broth was well balanced and palette cleansing. Again, Korea House takes the prize for best side soup. The bogogi would again be a 3. The bi bim bop and kimchi a 5. Overall an average of 4 stars.

Highly recommended. Awesome food - especially the Korean side. My girlfriend and I go eat there more than any other restaurant in town. Everytime I think about getting the burger, but I can't do it when I'm looking at all the Korean dishes. I've tried 3-4 different ones and they were all really good. People are awesome & prices are good.

I'm not a big burger eater, but was drawn to Burger Lovers like a moth to a bug zapper by the recent Eugene Weekly ad informing me that Burger Lovers offers Korean food from the same people who once operated the imaginatively named "Korean Food" cafe in the old Rite-Aid at 28th and Willamette, the building formerly known as PayLess. I loved that place...the sprawling, confusing menus...the sometimes too authentic food...the halting conversations with the Korean staff...and the big portions of steaming, stick-to-the-ribs grub. At first glance, Burger Lovers would seem to be an upgrade over the old place. The Korean menu has been condensed down to one legible page, albeit lacking in detail, and a new set of selections featuring (surprise!) burgers has surfaced. The new place is clean and quiet, an odd incongruity considering its location on West 7th. Except for the sign on the door, which implores visitors not to park in front lest the business next door be towed away (or something like that), the building itself is an upgrade. Of course, a menu with items like "spicy chicken" with no further description is one that begs further explanation. I greeted the nice Korean lady I recognized from the other place, and after we exchanged pleasantries I asked what came with the spicy chicken. "No," she said quietly, with an unmistakable look of disapproval. So much for Asian subtlety. Uh, okay. I can take a hint. "What should I get?" I asked. She pointed to the bulgogi. Beef bulgogi? She shrugged me off, then pointed to the pork. What the heck...I thought I'd try it. "Kimchi?" she inquired softly, and I nodded my assent. My girlfriend ordered a bacon cheeseburger, to which the nice lady wisely did not object. On the bright side, the food came out quick, steaming, and in quantity. The kimchi was good...for kimchi, that is. And, to be fair, the bulgogi tasted okay, too. It had a nondescript red sauce that was sufficiently flavorful so as to make the Sriracha sauce I'd grabbed at the counter unnecessary, and was served with a bowl of surprisingly good steamed rice, much better than at most local Asian restaurants. They must spring for decent rice, not the 100-pound bag for $15.95 from Costco. Good show. Unfortunately, the bulgogi looked like a Klingon delicacy. Long slimy pieces of onion strongly resembled worms, including (or did I imagine this?) occasionally writhing in pain from the steam. The whole wriggling mass of pork and onion and red sauce had a disturbingly visceral look reminiscent of freshly-harvested entrails. I am an adventurous eater, but gazing upon this dish was nauseating, exactly what I meant by "too authentic" - only more so. Still, I could have enjoyed it but for the way the pork was trimmed...or rather, wasn't trimmed. Stringy, fatty pieces of pork and gristle aren't really my thing, but if you want me to eat them, you'd better sear the heck out of 'em so they're crispy, not stir fry/steam them with sauce so they're slimy. I managed to trim some of the meat myself using the oh-so-Korean industrial strength stainless steel flatware provided for this purpose, and it tasted pretty good...but it wasn't worth the effort. I didn't manage to eat even half of it, and I politely declined the to-go container. My girlfriend's burger was tasty; Burger Lovers' signage proclaims that they use fresh meat, not frozen, and indeed it was a juicy, handsome, flavorful patty. The fries were too thin, but good; the same sign boasts about the quality potatoes, but what impressed me was the cleanliness of the frying oil: The fries were nearly white and are tasty even without ketchup, a feat not possible with the dirty oil so common in the restaurant biz. They didn't get the bacon crispy as she'd asked - I guess stringy, chewy pork is a theme at Burger Lovers. So, if we'd both gotten burgers, I'd say three stars. Unfortunately, we didn't, and I wasn't impressed. When a restaurant steers you away from your menu item of choice towards something else, then serves you something you really don't like, well...I'll probably give them another shot, but until I get something I like, two stars it is.

I can't speak for the Korean food here. Why? Because the place is called "Burger Lovers"; so I go for the...you guessed it-burgers. I haven't had a burger from Burger Lovers that wasn't piping hot and juicy, and they're fries are hot, crispy and salty. If you're looking for a "gourmet" burger-go somewhere else. It's sparkling clean inside and even though they don't speak a lot of English, they understand "Bacon cheeseburger, well done, no onions" . To go orders are really fast and my only complaint is the line inside doesn't really have a direction and people that take way too long to order a burger; which may be why some people complain that the staff rushed them into ordering something. It's a burger-people! Order and move on!

The owner is very nice and accomodating and the food is delicious. I love Korean food, and this place probably has the best spicy bulgogi in town. The other Korean places are good, but his spice level is perfect. Check it out!

So delicious! I recently found out that this was the same place that was located next to the old RiteAid on 29th and Willamette before the Market of Choice remodel, and I HAD to get my fix! My sis and I had the Bibimbop and the Beef Bulgogi, soooo good! The woman working was kind enough to give us a second helping of kimchi, also very very good. Everyone was very friendly and the place was clean and had a good atmosphere. I've never had the burgers, just because I had so many good memories of the Korean food when I was a kid. Please support local businesses and go to Burger Lovers! You will not be disappointed!

OK, so the menu...It's as you would expect, a basic entry-level burger and then thirteen different variations on that basic burger. Topping choices among these thirteen variations include bacon, cheese, cream cheese, avocado, mushrooms, a fried egg, teriyaki sauce, pineapple, ham, BBQ sauce, double patties, corned beef, rat droppings, green chilies, etc. (Just checking if you're paying attention. They really don't offer rat droppings as a topping). They also have chicken sandwich, BLT, Rueben, and Po Boy choices on the menu. But we're here for burgers, so let's stick with that area for now. Being a wily burger lover, I ordered a basic "Original Burger" rather than one of the fancy slathered-up sauced-down variations. My theory being that you first start with the basic burger to check the quality of the "foundation", only later moving on to check-out the "decorations". Ordering at Burger Lovers is done at the front counter and is fairly straight-forward. The only thing out of the ordinary were the somewhat frenzied blue felt-tip pen markings on the overhead sign board. Things likes "cheese add $0.50 and "comes with fries" were forcefully circled in thick blue marker pen. Seems the front counter people are getting tired of answering the same dumb questions from dumb customers, so they decided to help the dumb customers out by adding the blue felt-tip pen circles and underlines of the answers to dumb questions. Thanks. Also of note, the front counter person during my visit was named Agnes Bae, a nice Korean American lady who is the brains behind this operation. Actually, the owner of Burger Lovers is Agnes' sister, but Agnes supplied most of the strategic planning based on her 20 years of experience owning and operating similar restaurants in various cities around the US (I think she mentioned Portland, Oakland, and maybe LA). Notably, she also owned Jamie's Diner in Eugene (now called Terry's Diner, located at 18th and Chambers) for several years before selling the business. But let's get to the core issue: How was the burger? Taste-wise, it was ok. Some charcoal flavor in the meat, not too fatty, and an ok bun. Maybe a little dry, but not bad. Condiments included somewhat thin slices of tomato and finely shredded lettuce. The burger came with fries (read the sign board where they have clearly marked this with blue felt-tip pen!), and they (the fries, not the staff) were somewhat thin-ish as well. I remember these previously were called shoestring potatoes at some point back in ancient times. They were slightly overcooked and perhaps had sat in the warming area a bit long. (I am guessing the overcooking may have come from them having been dropped back into the fryer for a quick re-warming...an old diner trick). But clearly something was missing...a certain je ne sais quoi...then it came to me. Burger Lovers lacks sufficient chunkification. Nothing is chunky enough. Not the beef patties, not the bun, not the tomato slices, and certainly not the daintily shredded lettuce. Even the fries are too thin. Admittedly, a de-chunkified burger is probably easier to eat. You can pick it up and take a reasonable bite without the whole thing falling apart, but...I still prefer the chunky version. Something about it just says "indulgence" or maybe "weight gain". Either way, that's the feeling I want in a gourmet burger and Burger Lovers does not deliver this feeling for me. Is it the best burger in Oregon or Eugene...uhhhh...no. For sure it's the best on that section of 7th ave. And that's better than nothing.

Burger lovers is a wonderful oddity. Delicious burgers and Korean food thats quite tasty. Don't go there looking for fanciness or a bland chain restaurant experience. It is a special little place ( with Ninkasi on tap).

I've been searching Eugene for a really good hamburger place after Jamie's great hamburgers closed a couple of years ago. Burger Lovers is a worthy replacement. They even have some of the same burgers on their menu. My favorite at Jamie's was the big bopper burger, which came with thick slices of bacon and tons of cream cheese. They have this exact burger at burger lovers.
