So tasty and fresh, plus a kind staff. I love this place for a quick, healthy lunch. :)

It drives me a bit crazy that locals like this place. Maybe because there are not a lot of decent options in Eugene (as compared say to Portland or the Bay Area). Still what they are known for is putting some rice and beans in a bowl, adding a few topping and putting their "Yum Sauce" (essentially Annie's Goddess Dressing) on top. A really limited and unimaginative menu. The food is healthy but without flavor or interest. You could so easily do this at home. "Yumm" is really the complete wrong word for the place. Healthy Boring Bowl maybe?

Souper yumm, add tofu!! Vegan sub avo. My favorite. Everyone there is always in a great mood and that puts me in a good mood. The best. Always clean and tidy. Great place.

Cafe Yumm is supposed to be delicious and healthy?? I'm not impressed, won't be back after I learned how many calories I just consumed. Pros: - Lots of vegan/vegetarian options - Natural, organic ingedients - People evidently like smothering their healthy food in fat-laden nut sauce, so if you like that sort of thing, this is where to get it. (Or save some money and guzzle some cheap satay sauce straight from the bottle!) Cons: - I know many people love it, but I'm not a fan of the Yumm sauce. I found it too sour, and just the few tablespoons in a medium bowl add 300 (!!!) calories!! That's as much as a cheeseburger! - Shocking amount of calories. Might as well have a burger, fries and a milkshake, because a medium original bowl contains over 800 (!!) calories and most of your daily allowance of fat. I only learned about the calories after having eaten the bowl, and feel completely disgusted now. - Overpriced

It's good but not great and if you buy the sauce you could pretty much make the identical bowl yourself. I did buy the sauce however and got sick of it fairly quickly

I really love Cafe Yumm. However, I will tell you that it is an acquired taste. In my experience, you either love it or you hate it. And for some reason, it seems like more women like it than men, I have no idea why. My favorite is the original Yumm bowl with brown rice, black beans, the addictive yumm sauce, avocado and cheese - I get it without tomatoes, olives, cilantro and sour cream because I just don't like them, but those are included also. You can easily make this vegan if you wish by removing the cheese and sour cream. Also, you can add chicken if you want, but I have never done that and I can't vouch for it. The yumm sauce is sooo good - of course it is, it has 14 grams of fat per tablespoon! It's made from canola oil, garlic, yeast, and some other secret stuff (I'm pretty sure, I'm relying on my memory from about a year ago, so I might not be 100% accurate) Anyway, if you are vegetarian or vegan, or just appreciate a veg meal now and then, give this a try! On the other hand, if you are a meat and potatoes type...you might not like it. For example, my Dad, who says that it's not a meal if it doesn't have meat? I would never take him here.

I recently had lunch at Cafe Yumm and was surprised to see burly construction-type dudes there. Not that I couldn't imagine these guys wanting a healthy lunch, but because there's no way in hell that this somewhat spendy lunch could've filled them up. Because for $7.50, a bowl with some greats, about 20 black beans, rice, sauce and a little cheese didn't come close to satisfying me. The third star is for being a great community member. They have routinely donated food to non-profit causes. They offer healthy food. But for more bang for my buck, I'll head to laughing planet...

I will NEVER AGAIN pay... mmm 8 dollars...? For some brown rice, goddess brand dressing, and soy beans? I was not raised that way. I know how to steam rice, I know how to open a can of beans, and I know better than to try and combine orange cheese with beans and canned olives. This place is almost hilarious. Don't go. - Save 7.50 and make it at home.

I had no idea what to expect when I walked in the door, but like most vegetarian places in Eugene I had some preconceived notions. Initially I wasn't sure what to make of the menu, so I rolled the dice on a Chilean Zucchini Bowl and it was pretty darn good. Simple ingredients at first glance, until you get to the Yumm sauce that is! I think the Yumm sauce can be a love/hate thing for people, but in my case XO XO. Its so good I bought some to take home with me! The sizes are deceptive. I had a medium bowl and I was stuffed! Ultimate pro: You can buy the Yumm sauce to experiment with at home!

On my way home from school today I was thinking about dinner & for some reason Cafe Yumm popped into my head. Now I can't stop thinking about it, and I'm craving it soooooo bad. Since I can't eat it, figured I'd do the next best thing YELP IT! This past summer I took a summer school session at the University of Oregon. Eugene is such a pedestrian friendly area! I found this place as I was exploring. Extremely glad I went with my hunch to try it out, I ended up eating there almost every other day! The friendly workers practically memorized my order. Perfect for lunch or dinner. The spot is geared towards a vegetarian menu, and don't get me wrong..I love my meat! But this place was good enough to temporarily give it up. Plus I don't like eating toooo heavy all the time. I tried a couple of the soups which were good, but the main reason to go is for the YUMM bowls. I normally ordered the small size which was the perfect portion for me, but if I was extra hungry I got a medium. The bows basically consist of yummy shredded cheddar cheese, fresh diced tomatoes, delicious avocado slices, & dollops of sour cream. Sounds good already right? They also come with black olives and cilantro, but I don't prefer either. :] I tried a few of their dishes but stuck with one... their ORIGINAL SIGNATURE DISH, the "secret original yumm sauce" is TO DIE FOR! & it's the perfect consistency, not too soupy like some of the other dishes. I don't think sauces are normally considered staples..but in this case it is the STAPLE to the dish! Now you wonder how someone could get full without the meat? They still find a way to get you full with some protein! Yummy organic black beans and brown rice! The combination of all of these ingredients together is ORGASMIC. If I could figure out how to make that sauce I'd be eating this every single day of my life. I miss you CAFE YUMM! Come to Hawaii please.

I was curious to see what the negative reviews on here were, because I was so surprised that this restaurant only had four stars. I loved this place when my friend took me here when I visited Eugene, but truth be told I could see how this wouldn't be for everyone. The Yumm! Bowl is rice, beans, salsa, veggies, cheese and the Yumm sauce. A small is totally filling and only $4.50. That is a slice of heaven both for the ingredients and the price for me, but if you aren't a rice-and-beans type of person, then... uhm... yeah you aren't going to like it. Also, if you want to argue that you can go make this at home for cheaper.... sure, probably, if you wanted to make a mass quantity of it and also if you really have the time. I rather be doing something else than waiting for rice and beans to cook at home. Also someone said the yum sauce is not good for you. In some ways, no, but compared to many dressings it totally is! Check out the nutritional information on their webpage, the main ingredient is canola oil, yeah for sure not the greatest, but to compare it nutritionally to ranch dressing is atrocious. Also the sauce is vegan, plus they serve chicken in some of the dishes, so if you have a "mixed" group of diners I imagine this would be a good place to go. Personally, I love the Yumm sauce-- my friend that took me there said that now she likes it but it took a little warming up to.

I'm not sure if I get the appeal. I'm pretty sure the bowls the food was served in were the exact same ones my college dining hall used. I felt like I was eating there all over again. I came in and got a medium original "Yum Bowl". The sauce I didn't particularly care for, and especially think it to be anything special. Beans, rice, and a some little additions? Even with the avocado there is no reason for the price on what I got. Beans and rice cost nothing and are simple to prepare. I simply can't justify paying to eat here again.

I love the fact that if you order your bowl vegan, they toss in extra carrots and cabbage. I always get my yumm!sauce on the side also to reduce calorie count and fat. Employees are friendly and the place is great-- all locations. This one has terrible parking options though.

Cafe' Yuck makes me sick, both literally and figuratively. The food is poor, the service is indifferent, the prices are high, the imagination is low. You would be hard pressed to find a worse place for the money if you tried...and you should try anywhere else. If you are a veg-head and you're that hard up for a place to eat, I suggest Laughing Planet, PRI, Ratatouille, or even KFC. Yes, I know, KFC serves chicken, and if you're a vegetarian that means you'll go hungry there...a far kinder fate than Cafe' Yuck. It's bad food, served badly. Go elsewhere.

don't get me wrong, i am a huge fan of the yumm bowl...genius, pure genius, i honestly don't know how i managed without them before i moved out here...and most of the time, this spot does a great job...but there were a few times where things were wrong, and it could be these experiences that dull the good ones as they stick out in my head and i worry they may happen again... i once enjoyed a yumm bowl only to discover a hair in it at the end...my stomach turned and i walked up to the register to show the counter gal...i reckoned if it were my restaurant, i would want to know. she did not apologize at all. the five years i spent working at zingerman's, i learned a lot about customer service...i learned the FIRST thing you do, is apologize...then you figure out how to fix it...make it right...then, you go the extra mile...so i expected at least the first two and when this didn't happen, it really bothered me. she offered me another bowl and i declined. the near empty bowl should have been a sign that i was full, not to mention my appetite was long gone...and why would i want another bowl? what if there was another hair in it?? so i got over it enough to keep eating there, as it is 3 blocks from my house and great for a healthy meal when i don't feel like cooking... i hate cilantro, turns my stomach. sometimes they overlook my request that it be omitted. i usually add chicken or tofu for extra protein and they forget that... today i added tofu to my bowl, i walk home, and its not there... so i called right away, said i was just in there i ordered and paid for tofu, none on my bowl, etc... she wants to know my name, so i tell her, she says oh yeah you were just in here...like no kidding, i just said that! she then tells me i wasn't charged for the tofu, then is looking for the receipt...a long silence occurred and i just told her i was going because i was hungry said good bye and hung up... more than a little annoyed with them at them moment...

Not really sure what is in that infamous yumm sauce, but it sure added a very nice touch to my avocado bowl. I was a little confused in the beginning...I mean, white rice with sour cream, diced tomato, avocado, AND cheese? But I must say I was pleasantly surprised to find out how delicious this combination turned out to be. I even thought about bringing a bottle of that yumm sauce back to LA with me if only my luggage had more room. I'd go back again if I ever have the chance to get back in the area.

i love yumm sauce!! i can't get enough! i'm crazy over this sauce!! i don't know how they did it, but they have created the most amazing sauce known to man! not only is it addictive, unique, and completely delicious..it's vegan, heart healthy (very low sodium), & gluten free. so i recommend it to everyone i know. (everyone i know seems to be on one sort of specialty diet or another..) i am planning to make a special trip down to oregon just to buy a crate of this stuff! ..if anyone knows of any vendors in seattle that carry this, please let me know! i am completely hooked!

Dude, if you're not totally addicted to Yumm! Sauce, you are in denial. I love everything they make. I remember way back when they were at 5th Street, before they were Cafe Yumm!, and way before Marche took over the entire building. I had the Chilean Zucchini stew every time then, and I have never tired of the stuff. I also love that I can get a side of nori just to crack out on while I eat my bowl... I'm drooling right now.

I just got back home to Pacifica after 10 great days in Eugene visiting my family there. I walked all over that wonderful city, got to know it a lot better and have really developed an appreciation for all it has to offer. I could go on and on but will force myself to focus . . . other reviews of adventures in Eugene will follow. After watching all the Presidential candidates in Iowa eating things like fried butter and all, I was determined that if they had such things at the Lane County Fair which I attended while I was there, that I would break several of my general rules of what I eat and partake. It was a county fair after all. Isn't it almost traditional that we can eat badly there and it's somehow okay? I didn't tell my family that while I was strolling through the carnival, and even when I was on the ferris wheel that I was scouting the area for the booth that specialized in deep frying things most of us never thought of plunging into hot oil. Then I spotted the place . . . and long before I actually approached them I saw that although they didn't have fried butter, they DID have fried Twinkies, Snickers, Oreos as well as fried Coke and Dr. Pepper! I quickly convinced myself that one of those would do just fine. But then, as I stood in line, I could feel my determination waning and was having quite a conversation with myself about paying hard earned money for such atrocities, feeling elated and embarrassed at the same time. And then, I decided not to rush things and to stroll a bit more . . . It was then that I turned and saw that Cafe Yumm had a booth at the fair!!! I had just been introduced to them a few days before, had been back a second time and and was already in love with the place. The place is clean, the staff is really friendly and the food is fantastic. The Yumm bowls are, to me, almost like one of the great wonders of the world, the burrito. You have all this healthy, beautiful, flavorful food in one bowl instead of packed inside a tortilla but the idea is the same. So seeing them was like bumping into an old friend just when you need them most. All fell into place for me at that very instant. I walked right over and ordered a Hot and Jazzy and when she handed me that steaming, fragrant bowl of all things good, well, I could now stroll without shame. Because of that lunch I was able to enjoy the rest of my day at the fair and was able to get around without assistance which I am sure I would have needed if I had filled my self with fried whatever! Thank you Yumm Cafe, you are much appreciated!

When my family come to visit, this is the first place they want to go eat lunch at. They have an addicting sauce, beware! Seriously, if they sold it by the gallon, I'd likely buy it in bulk!! They carry protein items to add to the side of your yumm bowl, salad etc. I like the BBQ Tempeh sticks. Their ginger cookies are amazing. Soft, bitey and covered in sugar. My fave bowl is the yumm deluxe with edamame. I try to balance the 3,000 calories of my extra sauce with some extra protein. Yea, it's working so far!

I'm totally addicted. So delicious, simple, and healthy. They have lots of customizing options that means you can get exactly what you want. They also have a great website with lots of nutritional information about their food. I've had this for dinner for the past 3 nights, it's sooooo good!

I've had 2 visits to Cafe Yumm in Beaverton over the past 3 weeks. I've recentlly become a vegan and I initially thought it was a good option for meals out. 1st visit I had the vegan version of their Rueben sandwich. It was tasty, but very greasy. Everything from the outside of the grilled bread to the deep fried tempeh, with the slathering of Yum Sauce, to the accompanying fried tortilla chips, it was just an overload of fat. Nowhere could I find nutrition information on anything other than their Yumm Bowls, but I've gotta guess their vegan Ruben is comprised of 75% fat calories, if not more. My husband had a Yumm Bowl and raved about how good it was. 2nd visit I had their small Original Yumm Bowl, vegan style, with extra cabbage and carrots. It also was tasty, but when I got home I found the nutrition information and it had 26.1g of fat and 433 calories! The small bowl is about 1 cup of food. Hold the Yumm sauce and it is 223 calories and 5g of fat. Of course, it was the Yumm sauce that gave it any flavor whatsover. So I made a mental note and decided to look into making the Yumm Sauce myself (recipe is very easy to find with a google search) and substitute silken tofu for the canola oil, and prepare my own, low fat Yumm bowls at home. Not only will it be far healthier, but far easier on the pocketbook! As far as service, since Cafe Yumm! chooses to have it's customers bus their own tables, many of the empty tables were not cleaned. I had to ask someone to come clean our table and bench seats. After doing it, they returned to their station, without bothering to clean the other dirty tables. Lack of cleanliness in an eating establishment is simply unacceptable. Our experience at Cafe Yumm! wasn't a total loss. It proved to open our options for low fat, cost effective, easily prepared meals at home. Visit Cafe Yumm! for ideas, then do some research and make your own.

Don't go to this location. I order the same thing every time: Original Yumm wrap with jalapeno-sesame salsa, instead of the red, and no olives. They cannot get this right and they make you feel bad for it. When I say I want an Original Yumm wrap I do not mean that I want a Hot 'N Jazzy wrap. Never once do I use the words Hot or Jazzy. So I wait for them to fix my order while why boyfriend's order gets cold. Then they ask if we want utensils. And thank you, we would love some utensils. This lunch is looking up. We get home to eat our wraps and no knives. Good thing I have two clean knives. As I am really enjoying my meal, I pull a thick hair out of my mouth. It is too short, too thick, and too lightly in color to be mine. And our forks broke. I prefer the location on Broadway.

It's a pretty cool concept and the food tastes very good. I would like to see some meat options IN the bowls though. some great quality beef, chicken, shrimp, or salmon would be delicious. I know they like to say how their bowls are vegetarian but they already serve meat and all of the vegi options would still be there. The grilled turkey sandwich is great and comes dressed with pesto, yumm. I really like the bento box as well.

When described to me: organic rice and beans, avocado , salsa and yum sauce made of tahini and spices and yummy things it all sounds amazing. The food was indeed good but was way too drenched in yum sauce, it was almost inedible and in fact i could only eat half the bowl. amazing concept, amazing colors too much sauce. Go easy on the yum sauce and add a bit more brown rice and it will be perfection.

Over-rated and overpriced. Here's the deal: People will claim that the food here is all fresh, healthy, vegetarian, and therefore awesome, but they can't see the forest for the trees. The Yumm sauce (which is admittedly tasty) is NOT healthy--it's just like any other fatty dressing/sauce dumped on foods. Everyone raving about how healthy the food is needs a wakeup call: you guys sound like people who order a salad and feel proud of themselves for eating something so healthy when they've drowned it in ranch dressing. Please stop and think about it... Next, it is very, very overpriced for what you are getting. In addition to being formulaic and not very creative, the Yumm bowls are made up mostly of 2 of the Poor Man's favorite diet staples (I would know!), beans and rice. When I go out to eat I like to get something that I can't easily/quickly make at home, something more creative, or something more delicious... I'm sure most people are in the same boat. But at Cafe Yumm, it IS something you could easily make at home for just a tiny fraction of the price, and since there's no imagination to their bowls, you're only paying for the name. You could throw the same thing together at home in no time, and you're probably more creative than the folks at Cafe Yumm, so you could spice it up too. It's boring and flavorless. I agree that it's a better option than McDonald's or something like that, but there are much better places in town where you can spend the same amount of money and get either something bigger in portion or higher in quality.

Here is the low down: They have a vegetarian menu, but they are willing to go vegan if you ask. They also have chicken on the menu for the meat eaters like me. However, the chicken is expensive ($2 extra for a few pieces) and tasteless so I often pass on the meat. If there is a long line don't worry they usually have fast service. The food is fresh and reasonably healthy, I personally am addicted to the Yumm sauce. They also will sub almost anything for something else. They get four stars just for this fact alone. I have a friend who always changes five or six things and they do it without flinching.

With all the hype from hippies all over Eugene, I had to try it at least once. Turned out I tried it for 3 times at different locations. All 3 times, I asked myself why would anyone pay so much for so little. Their dishes all use very simple ingredients. Serving size is small, which is actually perfect for me since I don't eat a lot, but the price is way too high for the portion. I had the nori wrap, the yumm bowl, and some salad and a sandwich of some sort. Nori wrap: It is like a small appetizer. They gave me 5 small pieces of Nori for $5.95. $2.5 more for another 5 small pieces. I didn't know seaweed was that expensive. Yumm Bowl: A better version of HodgePodge's original wrap. Nothing to brag about. The yumm sauce is ok. Don't quite understand how hippies got so addicted to the sauce, but then again, I also don't get why hippies love to get stoned all the tiem. Salad and Sanwich of some sort: A salad and a sandwich like the ones you can get at any cafe. Only they are about 30% more expensive. I love fresh food, but fresh tomatoes, cilantro, advocado, black bean..etc are very common ingredients. Why Cafe Yumm can charge so much for so little is beyond my understadning.

I hate this place! I can't figure out why people love this place so much. Let me explain my reasoning and experience so you can all better understand my hatred. So, a friend of mine and I went there once for lunch. It was a beautiful day in Eugene, springtime. Anything would have made us happy being that we were in a perfect and tolerant state-of-mind. So, we walked in, waited in line, where I asked for a recommendation, only to be shunned as if I were asking secret details to the company's not-so-secret recipe. I then proceeded to order a medium size 'yum' bowl, as did my friend. We also shared a chicken stick. If you are a fan of this crappy food, the next sentence is disturbing, you've been warned. The food is over-hyped, under-portioned, over-priced, and under-whelmingly bland.... the place sucks, period. Please STOP supporting this crap. Everyone seems to love it, so this is an uphill battle, but hey! maybe there are enough people out there who agree. Ban together, unite, and spend your money elsewhere.

The good news, it is very inexpensive. The bad news, the food was mainly just rice with some special sauce that was more shocking than good.

I just realized that I haven't yet written a 3-star review yet, so.... Café Yumm isn't BAD by any means. It's not GREAT by any means either. (Well, duh. That's why you gave it a 3, you lout) Yeah, the dishes are kind of simple (where's the pizazz!?). Yeah, they're kind of expensive, too. Though I'm sure most human lifeforms get that odd, periodical craving for rice and beans in mystery sauce. This place satisfies that craving well. It tastes pretty good, but don't expect too much bang (as in quantity) for your buck (US dollar). The one thing that kinda bugs me about this place is how hoity-toity it feels. You walk in to any of them, and you get that faint feeling that the restaurant walls are telling you you're not worthy. Yeah, it's definitely targeted towards THAT segment of "You Jean". This is the kind of place where "green" yuppies go to feel like they're a "global citizen of the world" that "buys local," "eats healthyorganic", and "helps the like, environment, man." Sorry for the overuse of parentheses and quotation marks, everyone. But if you start using the term "healthyorganic," please make sure you give credit to the proper person (me).

The food is good enough to question it being healthy but it's so simple it's hard to argue. Sometimes I question why I should pay as much for a bowl of food I can easily make at home but then again if I made more food at home I wouldn't be much of a Yelper. I like the Yumm, I like what they do, simple food that's good for you. I go here when I want something other than fast food.

Veggie places are not my thing. But I really like the Yumm sauce. Toss in some hot sauce and I am good. I have veggie pals and Yumm is great when I want to be social and have something. The option to buy Yumm sauce to take home and pour over chicken is a good idea for veggie guests. There sure are a lot of negative reviews on here. Mostly whining about the portions and the price. I look forward to those Yelpers finding a buffet an all you can eat special to give 5 stars to. Oh I also like to watch my friends fail with chop sticks. So that is fun there too.

I love Cafe Yumm, but I love it for mostly ONE reason - the Wrap-it, not the wrap, not the bowl, but the wrap-it. My fascination originally lies in burritos themselves - any type of food, put it in a tortilla, wrap it up, and I'm good to go. I love it. The Original Wrap-it (on a wheat tortilla) is more than enough food to put you in that coma you are probably looking for. It's a simple, big burrito for an okay price - $6. It has everything that is in a Yumm bowl, but there is more of it and it's wrapped up like a burrito and I love burritos, did I already say that? So you have: beans, rice, avocado, cilantro, olives, tomatoes, salsa, cheese, and of course, Yumm sauce (may be missing some things). Might I suggest using the tapatio they have on the counters and dousing every bite with it. I honestly don't think Yumm would be good without tapatio - they might want to think about mixing it in with the sauce. Tapatio is CRUCIAL to your yumm experience. If you don't like hot sauce, then...sorry. Most people are turned off by Yumm because they use meat sparingly and the sauce is unique. However, I know many people who gave Yumm a good second try and acquired the taste for it. It's delicious and the sauce has a garbanzo beans base, I cannot remember what else is in it, but take my word for it. The service is not great, however I seem to think the best one to go to is on 18th and Willamette. I believe it's the original. Good luck and remember: Original Wrap-it on wheat and grab that Tapatio because the stomach will be happy and so will you.

Had the original Yumm bowl--brown rice, black beans, yumm sauce, avocado and cheese, tomatoes, olives, cilantro and sour cream. Was really great. Added chicken, it was rather plain. Would not recommend the chicken. Very tasty!

I've only been to Cafe Yumm once, when I was in Eugene visiting family, and that really is a travesty. Someone needs to get Cafe Yumm to NYC, stat. I got the Jazzy Bowl and it was filling without being heavy, everything was fresh and tasty, and I don't know what they put in the Yumm sauce, but I want it on every meal now. This place is great for lunch, a mid-day snack, or a light dinner. My only regrets about the place are that I only went the once, so I didn't get a chance to try their other menu items, and I live on the wrong coast now to find excuses to go back again! Seriously though, if you're in the Eugene area, do yourself a favor and look up your nearest Cafe Yumm and try it for yourself.

I love Cafe Yumm! Always treat to have, and always something healthy. I could eat there every day, and would be able to afford it. They usually have fast and friendly service, and plenty of place to sit. Their bowls are delicious, but if you want to try something new I would advise going for their wraps or other plates. Especially their Nori Wrap or the Southwest Tofu Wrap. My niece, who is 5, also loves this place.

cafe yumm sells vegetarian bowls and salads and maybe sandwiches, i am not sure they are happy to make their bowls vegan and will even throw in extra avocado when asked they sometimes make a mistake on an order but not enough to qualify as crappy eugene service all five locations are pretty much the same all yelp reviews should be combined same menu, same food, even the same signs as they grow into a creepy, spreading corporation your opinion on cafe yumm may be different than mine because basically all of their dishes will contain their signature, vegan (oil, almond, nutritional yeast and the like) you-love-it-or--you-hate-it--no--in--between. . . YUMM SAUCE which i found pretty dank the first several dozen times but maybe has grown old over the long eugene years these two things you absolutely should know about YUMM SAUCE: number one, it is not particularly healthy as in, not at all you must get over your concept that vegan equates to healthy number two, and most important of all if you do fall in love with the (in?)famous YUMM SAUCE please know that it is sold in small containers at some stores and in very large containers at the source itself so all you folks who feel addicted and are eating there once a week, save yourself some dough and regulate your calorie intake make your own yumm bowls d-i-y

WOW! Not a vegetarian and was ready to try it out anyway. Order a bowl and was very delighted! All the ingredients had a quality taste to them. Was also able to order chicken breast to go with it. Strongly recommend to all!

I really don't get the whole love affair Eugene has with Cafe Yumm. I love healthy food but how can somebody think paying $7.00 for a bowl of rice and beans with some nutritional yeast sauce is a good deal? Parents Note: Good quality highchairs available. And yeah, your kid will love it, it's rice and beans and cheese.

Oh how I miss you, Cafe Yumm!!! However, let's put it this way... if it were not for the liter upon liters of Yumm Sauce that I buy every time I make a visit to Eugene, I would not be able to survive up here in Seattle. Do I get tired of Yumm Bowls several nights a week? No, not at all! Do I crave it every moment of the day? Yes, yes I do! Am I the envy of every Seattle-ite? Yes, that too! Thank you for selling your sauce so that I can enjoy this deliciousness whenever I want. :)

The service at the Yumm Cafe in the Oakway Center is by far the best. If you are doing take out double check to make sure they get your sides right, especially at the cafe by the university. My personal favorite for bowls is the Edamame, and the marinated tempeh skewers are delicious.

I love Yumm Sauce. That being said, the Yumm Bowls are a bit pricey, and the wait can be a while, expecially during the lunch rush. I prefer to buy a bottle of the sauce, then make my own bowls, or use the sauce to dip veggies and what not. I am sure it is a healthy alternative to fast food, but you have to be careful as the sauce is 70 calories a tbsp, and that can add up fast. But it is super tasty!! If I was just rated the sauce itself, I would give it five stars, but I give the Cafe three stars due to the cost, the wait, and the fact that you can't call and order your bowl ahead of time. You used to be able to do that so it made it possible for me to get a bowl on my lunch hour. Now, if I go at Noon, sometimes the line is so long and the wait after I have ordered is so long, my lunch is over before I get to eat! All that being said, try Yumm sauce, it is delicious!!

I l-o-v-e the hot and jazzy yummm bowl, but I always get the salsa on the side, because its too hot for me to eat. I dip my fork in it, then eat a bite of rice. That is perfect! With more and more of them opening, though, I've noticed a climb in prices, a decrease in service. It is unfortunate. I do hope they start franchising in Idaho though. I have family there who would eat yumm bowls 2x/day while they're visiting if I let them. It is weird though. Some people think Yumm sauce is gross. Just fair warning. When you first try it, get a small, to see if you're one of the few who think its nasty! :)

I enjoyed my first experience at Cafe Yumm. The food was tasty and reasonably healthy. The menu had lots of interesting options that I would like to go back and try. Good food for a good price.

I LOVE CAFE YUM. My boyfriend and I used to go to Cafe Yumm once a week before we moved from Eugene to Ca and miss it alot. The yumm bowls were fabulous and I always enjoyed trying new ones. Awesome place. Every time we are in Eugene we go there.

So I recently moved to Eugene from Northern CA, so I have never heard of or experienced Cafe Yumm, but upon further inquiry with the locals, realized it is an Oregon staple and have to try it. I have gone there twice and the food is delicious, BUT I personally think you get very small portions for the price. The only reason I will probably only try it twice is because it is so darn expensive and not the healthiest thing I could be eating, honestly. A small Yumm Bowl (their specialty) is about 1 cup (MAYBE 1 1/4 cups) of food and can go up to almost $7 or more with extras! I kind of feel that price should warrant enough food to leave you very satisfied, full even. Maybe I'm sounding cheap (and on a student's budget, I am...) but I was not filled and after I and my boyfriend ate (he was less impressed than I was), neither was our wallet. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, fresh, local, sort of healthy (if you're counting calories instead of trying to eat vegan/gluten free, I would actually say avoid this place...vegetarian/vegan does not equal low cal!), and leaves you feeling pretty good about what you just ate, but I just feel like I could either be paying less or getting more food for the price. If you're new to Oregon, definitely try it, but as with any addiction, it might start getting really expensive. :)

Let me just say up front...I'm not a vegetarian, not that that's a bad thing ;) I finally had lunch at Cafe Yumm and long story short the food was great. I met a friend at the Meridian location. The only complaint I have about this location is the parking, in a word it sucks Anyway we got there just before the big lunch rush so the wait wasn't long at all. I ordered a small Yumm baby and a cup of artichoke bisque soup the total for that was under $8. We grabbed our little table card and found a quiet table in the back room, just right for a nice intimate conversation. After a short wait, maybe 10 minutes, our food was delivered hot and fresh. The Yumm baby doesn't have beans and you get original Yumm sauce and extra avocado. I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it but it turned out to be great! It was just the right amount for lunch and what great flavor. The soup was the best soup I have had at a restaurant in years. It seems that soups at restaurants anymore are an afterthought kind of like the salads. The soup also came with a pretty good piece of bread that was just as good as the other food. I tried my friends food also, I'm not sure what it was but it too was fantastic. He had added some Asian hot chili sauce to his and that added to it. By the time we were eating there was a long line and the place was filling up fast. But it appeared as though the staff was handling the lunch rush with ease. I will definitely be be back for more. (wait did I just out myself in this review?)

This place is ridiculous. The fact that it is a chain restaurant seriously compromises the definition of Eugene as a "city." They pour a bunch of beans and rice in a bowl--then dump salad dressing over the whole thing and charge you six bucks. Who are they kidding? You can do this at home for 10 cents, and it will STILL be disappointing. Cafe Yumm's existence is proof that vegetarians will eat anything without a face. Boo, hiss.

Love dat Yumm Sauce! I use it as salad dressing at home, which probably means my salad went from healthy to "I don't want to know". I will delude myself as long as this most recently bottle lasts. Mmmmmm.

Excellent and consistent healthy fast food! I love their vegetarian options and the Eda Mame bowl is my favorite. They make it very easy to configure bowls to be vegan or have more or less of your desired ingredients.

Yumm bowls are not that healthy!!!! Yumm! sauce is pure fat- out of 170 calories per serving, 150 of it is fat calories. Ya, not so healthy. On top of that, the workers are straight up MORONS. I was ordering my Yumm! bowl and the girl wouldn't even look me in the eyes- horrible customer service. Sometimes you have to wait a long time, and sometimes the food comes out right away, and no it doesn't have to do with how crowded it is, it is the intelligence level of the workers that day. They have a creative menu, I will give them that, and the food is somewhat good which is why I keep coming back, but other than that it just kinda sucks.

Orginal wrap it on wheat with no cilantro and lite on the sour cream and salsa please! I was a regular here in college. Gotta love the organic and delicious ingredients! Most of my friends dislike the yumm sauce but I loves it!!!! Also not too expensive for college students!

I can't believe all the good reviews this place gets! As someone else on this board says, should be cafe YUCK! One exception. The chicken wasn't too bad.. but that bowl? I tried *one bite* of the stuff and immediately grabbed a napkin to get rid of it.. WOW! I don't mind vegetarian fare too much, but.. words escape me when it comes to describing this place.

Please bring Cafe Yumm to San Francisco. We need you! I just noticed that Yumm sauce can be purchased to go. Had I known that I would have brought a ridiculous amount back to the bay area with me. I had the regular bowl and it was so tasty. I considered returning to Eugene the next day for just one more meal (even though I was an hour away).

Lacks quality control! The beans are frequently undercooked and the prep crew was never taught how to de-stem cilantro before serving it as a garnish. I'm over it! Overpriced for the lack of quality.

The food here is awsome. I love the yumm! I have been eating there since they opened and I am really glad they are all over Eugene now. We just need one in West Eugene. All I can say is YUMMMM!

Cafe Yumm is one of my favorite places to eat on the planet! I LOVE YUMM BOWLS! I lived in Eugene for 6 long years and one of the (only) good things about the city was cafe yumm. I dream about this place and wish you would come to Austin! much love to the people who can go there whenever they want! Consider yourself lucky because this kind of place is a rare gem!

It boggles the mind that these bowls are completely nutritious, filling, and inexpensive. The bowls are filled with beans and rice (for complete protein), topped with various things signature to each dish, and then covered with cheddar, olives, cilantro, avocado, tomato, sour cream, and the omnipresent Yumm sauce. The Yumm sauce is not as weird as it sounds -- it's "egg free, dairy free, wheat free, gluten free, sugar-free" and really just crazy good. My favorites are the Chilean Zucchini bowl, where they layer the Chilean Zucchini stew over brown rice, and the Edamame bowl, where edamame and nori are on top of the whole bowl. If I'm ever out for lunch (quick or otherwise), this is one of my first choices.

Quick and delicious. Be careful ordering a side salad in place of chips though...they gave be a handful of mixed greens in a cup. That's it. No dressing, no fork...was a bit disappointing when I got home and discovered this. Other than that, great food. Awesome salmon sandwich.

People love this place. I just don't get it. I can cook myself beans and rice for less than 50 cents, I don't see why I would pay 5 dollars for the same thing. The yum sauce is good, but nothing great.

  • Caitlin W.

This place used to be so much better before it grew so much. Now every time I go I am disappointed by something. The Yumm n'greens in particular used to be a huge pile of greens with Yumm bowl stuff on top, but the last time I got it I could barely see any greens! The yumm sauce is really good so...it's probably better just to stop by and grab a jar of it and then make your own stuff at home. Then you can also have better control over calorie content.

The unofficial regional Eugene dish: the Original Yumm Bowl. Great tangy sauce, a good healthy, inexpensive lunch option close to UO, Sacred Heart, the Federal Courthouse, etc.

Cheap, cheerful, and delicious! The food is great, fresh, hearty, and reasonably priced, the service and decor are equally sunny and lovely, and it's just a great place to relax w/friends over a deliciously inexpensive lunch! One of those places you just can't walk away from in a bad mood!

A great place for traveler's to take a break from driving on I-5. It's crowded with college students but for a reason...the bowls are great! I just wish we had them in Los Angeles.

Still good. I had the smoky bowl deluxe twice when I came up to EUG for the weekend. Once at the Green Acres location and once at the Franklin/Broadway location. It's saltier than I remember, but still good. I noticed that they've changed their decor... it's more commercial.

This place set the pace for my time spent in Eugene. FANTASTIC! Cheap and fresh- two words that I am rarely able to use in tandem. I ordered the mixed green bowl- it was a good size and left me full but not uncomfortable. Perhaps one day YUMM sauce will be available in Chicago.

My family refers to this place as "Cafe Yuck." I've tried to like this place, but I really don't like 'Yum sauce." It just has a weird taste to me and ruins anything you put it on. The other food is all right. I think most people like Cafe Yumm because they think they are eating healthy foods.

Yumm sauce is a rich vegetarian topping that is good on rice, beans , salads, chips, and is the star ingredient at cafe yumm. My favorite is the chipolte yumm rice/bean bowl that can vary depending on the toppings that you order. They also have a couple of soups, and several sandwiches.

I'm one of the many newbies in town and have been relying on Yelp for recommendations on everything, especially food. I wouldn't have known to check this place out otherwise, and it's become a regular lunch place. For the best BBQ tofu ever, try the Bento Bowl. Sandwiches are also tasty and fresh. Thanks yelp!

Cafe Yumm is really delicious, healthy, and fast... but the real secret is the fact that you can buy the Yumm sauce (either at any of the restaurant locations or at a health food store) and make your own Yumm bowls at home for cheaper AND you get complete control over what goes into them! If you're eating in house, however, the Hot 'n' Jazzy Bowl cannot be beat! They cater well to those of us with restrictive diets and are generally super friendly and pretty fast.

The service was good, though I didn't like the food very much. My first bite of rice was crunchy (undercooked), but the rest of it was a little better. Not much flavor. Chicken skewer was overdone. Strawberry lemonade tasted like water. It's fast which was good, but the food was pretty lame in my opinion (the other people I was with said they enjoyed theirs, though).

  • Sara Elizabeth J.

I've been here twice, though at different locations. I don't get the hype. I mean, the sauce is really good if you like healthy food. It's unique and I enjoy it. But the bowls themselves are pretty boring, especially for the price. As someone else said, the imagination here is low. Rice, beans, tomatoes, hot sauce, sour cream, and avocado are all relatively easy to throw together into a bowl at home, which is how these bowls taste -- as if they were thrown together at home for a quick dinner. The rice tastes unseasoned. The beans taste unseasoned. They're relying on the sauce to do all the work, but I don't think they ladle enough on, because I'm always left with flavorless rice and beans that I need to douse in hot sauce to finish. I wonder if you can just buy the Yum sauce and make a tastier dinner with it at home (for much less money; beans and rice are as cheap as it gets, so I don't get the high pricing here). I think I'd recommend this place to my vegetarian friends, but probably not to my meat-eating friends.
