Environment nice, food bland. Hibachi chicken had a "boiled," tough consistency. Sushi okay. Wouldn't go here again.

This is my second visit. My first time I had a steak teppanyaki and it was adequate. Expensive and not really worth it, but adequate. This time, trying to avoid the mediocre teppanyaki I went to try something different: their chef's choice of fish. First, they said that they were Busy and that it would take 30 minutes. Then after, when the fish actually came out it was all packed into this little tiny bowl. Normally I would prefer my sashimi laid out a little, more nicely perhaps on a plate or something with rice on the side. My girlfriend ordered shrimp tempura, but it came with nothing: not even rice.I find that this is pretty ridiculous. Generally people don't just eat a whole stack of tempura with nothing else. Rice is cheap. If you include some rice and miso you get a tasty meal. As it is, it's just a pile of shrimp. The sashimi I got was mediocre. The fish was okay but the octopus was rubbery. The rice it came on was good though. The end result though is that this place is too expensive and too mediocre. The menu choices don't make a lot of sense so it's difficult to get what you want and the food and the service simply don't justify the price. The atmosphere is not that great either. The downstairs is okay but the upstairs is very old and lousy and has residual bar and food smells. After my last two experiences I think we will not be returning. I think that with a deep update to the food and the decor and menu this place may be worth trying again but until then I'll hold out.

This was the place of my first date with my boyfriend, three years ago. Ever since then, we find ourselves coming here every few months. I also come here with friends on occasion. Price is on the higher side. We often spend about $50-80 each time for sushi (two people). Some of the rolls taste quite similar, and can be denser than they should be (too much cream cheese?). For simpler sushi, we'd go to Sada's, or Aomatsu for more variation. The 'grill' was very fun and entertaining but the food was extremely mediocre. Salty, overcooked, and small portioned. About $30/person and you leave unsatisfied in the belly. Overall, sushi here is okay, grill is not okay.

We both had bento box lunch. Teriyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Salmon. Good portions and flavor. Service so-so. Nice clean decor, but some parts of restaurant a bit dark. Convenient downtown location.

The last three times I've been there was fun. We chose to sit in the grill area. One of the best things I like about this is that they were able to accommodate large groups of people and you can make reservations. They really know how to entertain their guests. [-] The price I pay for the food, is not really worth it. In the grill area, the portions of food are small and some parts are pretty tasteless. I do not like my food overcooked, they overcooked my shrimp! How can you overcook shrimp??? Another thing I really not like about the grill area is the large amount of smoke going in your face. Is the vents messed up or something? I am not liking the fact that my clothes smell smoky and oil after a dinner.

Mediocre food, worse than mediocre service (no they weren't all that busy), combined with a train wreck for atmosphere. Very sorry, but how is this place still open? I'm sure the owners are nice people, but they clearly do not know what they're doing when it comes to running a "Japanese" restaurant. And I've been to enough Japanese restaurants to know.

Food was as I thought it would be. Strange though as we were not even offered chop sticks. Never had that happen before. It's usually the other way around.

So I went here for lunch on a Thursday. In short I won't ever go back and I don't recommend it. Once I walked in it smelt really fishy, clearly indicating their sushi was NOT fresh. Why I didn't just turn and leave..... I still don't know. Maybe I was hoping that the funk would not be associated with my meal but I was oh so wrong. I ordered 3 rolls which unfortunately tasted as bad as the place smelled. On the upside, a side of upset stomach and diarrhea was not served up at the end of this meal.

I've been here twice, once the day after they opened, then, against my better judgement, a few months later. The first time we sat at the sushi bar and figured that a new place might not have its cooked dishes down yet, but well, sushi grade toro was sushi grade toro, right? Not so much, I don't know where they sourced their fish, but I don't think metallic aftertastes are part of tuna's preferred flavor profile. The second time was with little kids, so we opted for the Japanese steakhouse floor-show. Amusing and fun, until the point where we actually had the food in front of us, then greasy and flavorless. Ick.

Service has taken a major step upward after the previous visit , will consider more visits to the sushi bar and teppanyaki stations

I've eaten here a bunch of times now, mostly at lunchtime. The sushi has always been better than average. The udon I got one cold december day was awesome. It wasn't just broth, those big fat noodles I love, and a few chunks of something thrown on the top. In addition to the usual, it had a lot of finely julienned vegies cooked in the broth, mung beans, etc., and was really flavorful and served piping hot. My husband's shirashi (which he let me try) looked beautiful, had a wonderful variety of fish, and was quite a healthy portion. Yum. The miso soup (no noodles in ours) is a cut above. The tea they serve is really green tea, which is what I always hope for at a Japanese restaurant. Haven't tried the teppanyaki. It's not my style.

Oh I wiiiiiiiish the sushi were better here. Everything else is just fine. The environment is nice and fun, the servers are friendly, the food arrived promptly, the kitchen items are good. In all those respects I like it and I prefer it to Aomatsu down the street. And then...there's the sushi. It's not "bad" but it's always disappointing. I'm not a sushi snob, but I do strongly believe that not every maki roll needs imitation crab (surimi) in it! Especially not rolls that already have real crab in them! WHY? This baffles and saddens me. It just brings down the overall quality of the roll, and makes the roll so needlessly huge in diameter that it's difficult to eat. Somehow despite the crummy sushi I always manage to enjoy myself here, so I guess that is something?

Have been a many times, but the last two were horrible. Took my Wife there for her Birthday dinner. I made reservations a month in advance, asking for a nice quiet corner, possibly upstairs. We arrive and are promptly seated upstairs alone. I'm thinking this will be nice.........well 10 minutes go by and we finally get to order drinks and have menus...........another 10 minutes or so goes by and our drinks come, but they don't take our order yet. Finally the waitress comes to take our order, and refil our drinks. We order our food, and the real wait begins. As the upstairs quickly fills up, we are no longer in our quiet spot, but we think good maybe the service will get better...NOT! My dinner finally arrives by itself, we figure hers will promptly follow .....well 10 minutes go by and her dinner is nowhere to be found, and I cant even get a waitress to acknowledge my. Finally my wife tells me to go ahead and eat mine, I tell her No if your dinner isn't here in 1 minute I'm sending mine back. Luckily for them her dinner came just then(mine was stone cold) but I ate it anyway, not wanting to wait again for a new one. We left that night almost $100.00 lighter and very disappointed. The next time we went there was for my Mothers Birthday dinner. I made reservations well ahead of time for 8 people down stairs . (Remembering the last visit, but hoping it was a fluke) We arrive at the restaurant and give our name, well we had no reservation listed. The hostess asked if we wanted this table right in front of the door, we declined. Finally we were seated upstairs anyway. My grand mothers dinner was served with two of our soups and salad. The rest of us sat there wathing them eat. Some more soups and salads came, my poor Grandmother was almost finished with here meal. The rest of the table got their dinners while my wife and I still waited for our Sushi. After that experience we will definitely not be going back.

I eat here quite a bit for Sushi. They also do a Bennihanna (sp?) style show on their grill tables. The Sushi chefs are friendly and they sometimes get some exotic cuts (i.e. geoduck) that are so fresh they are still alive (no joke, at least the nerve endings are.)

  • Vanessa M.

Horrible service!! I had to wait a few mins for a table for 2 and the immature hostess was pointing and complaining about customers. Then as soon as a group of 3 walked through the door, she told me "sorry i'm giving your table away to them because they have more people than you." Seriously??!! Aomatsu and Sada's provides a far better experience so i suggest going there instead.

My spouse, Brian, and I decided to spend our Christmas vacation in Corvallis this year, leaving sunny Phoenix, AZ for a change of pace. And, we decided to eat Christmas dinner out. Because we enjoy Japanese food, we were happy to find this restaurant was open today. I should have read the Yelp reviews before going because it didn't live up to my expectations for good Japanese cuisine. I ordered the teppanyaki shrimp and Brian ordered sushi. The sushi was pretty good, though Brian said his soft-shell crab roll was the worst he had ever eaten -- it was rubbery and had fake crab in it. The fresh salmon nigiri was good. The teppanyaki -- not so much. My greatly over-sauced meal included shrimp that were overcooked and rubbery. The vegetables included potatoes with the onions and zucchini. What happened to carrots, mushrooms and bean sprouts -- and maybe some cabbage? But, potatoes -- really?? Never had those before at any Japanese restaurant! Furthermore, the noodles tasted like regular, garden variety spaghetti, rather than Japanese noodles. Hey, but it wasn't a total bust -- the stir-fried rice was really tasty, the wait-staff was friendly, and our teppanyaki chef, "Charlie," was funny and entertaining. Next time we are in Corvallis, and are in the mood for Japanese food, we will give another local eatery a try.

I'm not so sure Tokyo deserves even one star. At least not based on our experience. The night we went the restaurant was about 2/3 full. There was no one waiting to be seated. When we entered we were ignored for about five minutes. Had we not been there with a gift certificate, we probably would have left. In hindsight, we should have. After finally being seated at one of the benihana tables, there was a long wait for drink orders to be taken. The waitress brought our drinks then continued to ignore us. No refills. Ever. The benihana chef was entertaining and friendly. The waitress was downright rude. The food was decent. When the waitress brought the check, she suddenly became very attentive, hovering until we placed the gift certificate and debit card in the folder. We bend over backwards to help our servers have good experiences at our tables. Our kids, who work in restaurants, were with us, and were stunned at the service. We all understand that things don't always go well, servers have off nights, and things are sometimes forgotten or confused. But this was unbelievable. We will never again set foot in Tokyo. Even with a gift certificate.

Nice atmosphere, but a total waste. Everyone was very unprofessional. Hot sushi rice? wait for our order for like an hour. the teppanyaki was alright, mostly for show...not much on the taste. Nothing authentic about this place at all. would not recommend this place if you want good sushi.

I would give this place 5 stars for their excellent specialty rolls. Try the roll on the radish sheet, amazing. But had to downgrade them as they are not perfect. Most rolls are very good, some rolls are just mediocre, I just ask the server what she recommends and always get an amazing tray of sushi. They also offer snow beauty saki which is delicous and affordable compared to others Japanese restaraunts I've been to. Although I give them 4 stars, I still think they are the best sushi place in Corvallis.

I'm so disappointed because Corvallis is cute. and I was hoping that this place would be cute and delicious and wonderful. Where to begin? - They gave our 21 person reservation away to another party - They tried to remedy this by attempting to squeeze us into a 15 seater teppan table. Wasn't successful. - We asked them ahead of time to split the tab into three according to how we were seated. They took down the orders on three separate order forms to help keep it straight. Then got the bill wrong on all three tabs when they brought it out. And even all of that would have been forgivable had the food been good. Because wonderful food heals even the most weary soul. But it wasn't wonderful. It wasn't even good. None of us were happy with what we had eaten. I think the California rolls were probably the best thing we ate, and it shouldn't be so at a legit Japanese restaurant, should it? I had teriyaki beef, chicken and salmon as well. I suggest you don't. I can't give a good description of the food without seeming mean. The one good thing that prevented this whole thing from being a complete fail was the server (owner?). And she single handedly saved the experience from being even more horrible. Because what is worse than going to a restaurant, having everything logistically go wrong and eating bad food? Having bad service. The other servers that were "helping" were not doing so well (they were the ones that mixed up the tabs, for example). I can't bring myself to come back here to eat, but I totally appreciate this lady for her trying her best to fix what she could.

Friendly service and very good sushi with a small but quality selection of sakes. We had the Beaver roll & New Orleans roll along with nigori surf clam and a salmon. All tasted fresh and light.

The food is usually really good, but the waitresses are the worst. I have been in here a few times over the last year or so, and almost every time I eat here, I get waited on by this one waitress, who I've been told is the owner's cousin (?). She is RUDE, FORGETFUL, SLOW, and has delivered my food to me COLD twice now. She is always just standing around, not doing anything, and I have had to ask other waitresses if I could please finally get my food. I never leave her a tip because her service is JUST TERRIBLE. If I ever get assigned to her again I will ask to be seated elsewhere.

I particularly like the menu here. They have several chef's specials where there's a number of sushi standards plus some chef's choice surprises. A great way to go if you're not a sushi expert. The service has been good when I've been there, and the quality of the food is very good. #CorvSMB

I have never had a good sushi experience at this place. The sushi has always tasted awful. It's been so long since I have been at the grill that I can't say anything about it. Tokyo is one of those places that you tell yourself, "it will be better next time" or "lets give it another chance"... Horrible decision on my part to keep thinking that next time it will be better. Tonight we ordered: Corvallis roll, crunch roll, BMW, K-Crab Rangoons, and spicy tuna and sake nigiri. The only one that was OK was the BMW roll. That is the only one I have ever liked. So, I would suggest that roll if you go there. We got take out so by the time we got home the rangoons were cold. Each piece is about the size of a golf ball, but the cream cheese they put in was about the size of a pee. Basically you're paying $5 to get 6 wontons. The crunch roll was basically imitation crab with a few flakes of "crunch". It tasted more plain than a california roll. The Corvallis roll, which is one of their deep fried rolls, has a thick mushy coating. When you get deep fried you expect a light crunchy coating, but this was the complete opposite, and we couldn't even finish it. The spicy tuna nigiri tasted like warm mushy seaweed, and the sake has turned white like it had been sitting out for too long. Of course you didn't need a break down of everything we ate, but I have honestly never tasted such horrible tasting sushi. Each roll is over powered by seaweed and has bad fish in it. They also use the imitation crab that looks like a stick, and all the deep fried rolls are mushy. I would never recommend or take anyone to this place. They are over priced, and when I asked for extra soy sauce they argued with me that they put enough in. If you want fresh sushi go to Aomatsu.

Nice place for a group of friends to go, Teppanyaki sure keeps everyone entertain. Sushi is just average... fairly good price for lunch... I thought it was pretty weird to find pasta noodle in the miso soup. Staffs are nice... slow.... service... I have tried two different Teppanyaki chiefs... Their food tasted different, though they used similar sauces... some of my friends like the one that add a lot of butter, some don't... it really depends...

This is the first time I've sat at any benihana table so I was excited for the show. I guess the show was fun, but the food was not. We came in a large party because it was my friend's birthday. The chef went around taking orders for everyone and started cooking. I'd imagine that when you place a separate order you'd get a separate portion.. but the chef basically mixed everyone's order together. I know we're a large party together, but the portioning was horrible. If someone ordered fried rice with shrimp, everyone got fried a bit of fried rice and a bit of shrimp. The worse part is that it wasn't even equal, some people ended up with more food than others. I just didn't think it was fair, seeing that I ordered a completely separate meal. And everything was overly soy sauced. Bottom line: Skip the Benihana at Tokyo Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar. The price is not worth the novelty of Benihana.

  • Lacey S.

Tokyo is fun when you sit at the grill-the entertaining chef makes it kinda worth the price you pay. Our chef was hilarious! I did feel like some people in our party didn't get as much as others because he served them last and instead of adding more food to the grill, they just got what was left. My sister and I both ordered white rice instead of fried rice, but he made it all fried-we didn't care enough to mention it to him, though. The sushi is good, the waitresses could be friendlier, and they need to tidy the place up a bit. They store empty beer bottles and crates under the stairwell - not the most appetizing scene! I would probably go there again for in a group for the grill experience-the kids in our group had a lot of fun!

I can understand some of the low marks on service. If you were to chose this place on a peak night during the dinner rush, the service might be lacking and sushi takes a while to make for any order, especially if they're backed up. But, in any small town place, they tend to get slammed on occasion and that's just the way it is at 7pm on a friday night--suck it up if you go out during the dinner rush. On its own merits, the fish is fresh, the place is clean, and the service is good (when they're not running around with their hair on fire) I usually save up and go off peak choosing to sit at the sushi bar. When I was new, I usually was given samples of different things to try on the house. Recently, they introduced a wider selection of saki's which have been fun to try out. Go off peak and say, "hi", to the owner, Dubin. He'll take care of you.

I'm bummed to see all these reviews of this place because I thought the food was great, the pricing was fair, and the service was great too. The one thing I didn't like was that the calamari we got was overcooked. Other than that we had the beaver roll, Corvallis roll, and the last samurai roll... and some nigiri sushi too. I'll definitely go back. And also, it was cool to see they had a lobster tank and a shrimp tank... great to see it's fresh.

i thought i did write a review the first time i went here, but i guess not. returned as i wanted teppanyaki for dinner. they do an adequate job here---but use way too much sauce on the steak and the scallops i ordered, of both there is really not a reason to put a lot of sauce on these items. they could do better leaving the sauce off. was the only one at the table, which is usually a bummer as most places cook really fast and your food gets cold too quickly. not here, though. they really did a nice job timing the food coming off the grill and on my plate---applauses here for that. yes, will go back here from time to time, but will tell them to back off on the sauce.

i've lived in corvallis for a while but never tried out this place until recently. i don't know why though, but i seem to recall reading less than stellar reviews about this restaurant. my husband tried it with his friends for dinner one night, and liked it! so he took me there for lunch, and lo and behold. it's my new favorite japanese place in our tiny town. the sushi and salmon are really good. and for the price, it's pretty reasonable and a good portion size. it's best to eat there when the cooking tables aren't being used, because then you leave the place reeking of the smell of food, and i hate that! we've been here twice and i can't wait to go back. service is fast and servers are pleasant.

i wouldn't say this was the best ever japanese food but for the price i think it's good. ordered the sushi and udon with edamame. we must have ordered 6 rolls and sushi and everything was about $50. the sushi was fresh and the service was really good. would go back.

Absolutely horrible. The vegetables, meat, rice, fish... everything was not fresh and tasted horrible. The miso soup was from a package for sure. AND found a hair in my tempura.... The sushi... the rice did not taste good, and their wasabi was one of those powder wasabi you can get at any store. In addition, the service was horrible. It took them ages to get people seated, people were ordering but their food took ages to come. We didn't even get our tekkamaki we ordered and their attitude was unfriendly. I do not agree to how much we paid for what we got. I am Japanese, living in Japan, and I used to serve people... this place disappointed me so much, I will never go to this place again. And will not recommend this place for anyone.

What the hell this place only has 2.5 stars? I'm going to kill everyone who told me this place was better than Aomatsu which is the only reason why I came here in the first place. My mother and I came here for an early dinner while she was helping me pack my stuff up during spring break. She loved this place! She was really craving noodle soup and we were going to go to Aomatsu actually but it was closed. She ended up ordering udon soup and I got two sushi rolls. I got the california roll and the shrimp tempura rolls. Both were pretty small and I've never gotten a california roll that was just a chunk of imitation crab. The food came out pretty fast. The tea was amazing but its probably because they charge for tea ($1/person). Psssssh. They had the same ordering style as Aomatsu where they give you a piece of paper with all the items and a pencil but the waitress totally didn't even look at the paper I marked and still asked me for my order. Then I saw her take the paper and erase my markings wtf hahhahha The male employees here are gorgeous! From the white host to the hispanic sushi makers. Nomnomnom. Hahaha. Oh we were totally ignored for a good 5 minutes. I mean the one waitress saw us but just ignored us and then she finally came around to seat us even though the restaurant was basically empty. Service was decent besides that though. Oh I had no idea they had a benihana type set up here. That was pretty cool. They had specials written out but it seemed to all be Chinese food and there was tons of Chinese writing on the walls and stuff. I thought this was a Japanese place? Haha. The restaurant was huge but it didn't look like there was a ton of seating. Whatever. Just take a pass on this place and go to Aomatsu!

This is generally where we go when it comes to sushi in Corvallis. The teppanyaki is always fun and the sushi is good. They also have a good selection of other Japanese food in case you aren't wanting sushi. If I was comparing this sushi place to the others in the area, I would come here for the teppanyaki and atmosphere.

This place is absolutely amazing!! I came here for my birthday lunch and it was worth the drive to Corvallis from Eugene. We had a little bit of everything and I have no complaints on any of it. My favorite sushi place in Oregon by far. Everything tasted very fresh I was very impressed by the service also. This place is definitely worth a try!!

VERY consistent Sushi and Meso Soup! This is now my favorite Sushi place as well as my daughters (both). Service is always good and friendly. The owner will make the rounds usually and ask how things are. The selection is unbelievable and the quality of the fish is first rate. I have been here for business luncheons a number of times and DRIVE from Eugene to come here for Sushi and it has never let me down. Check out the BMW Roll, the Last Samurai and others. You can't go wrong with any, really!

WORST SERVICE EVER. The servers are so oblivious and don't know the first thing about customer service. There is no sense of urgency and consideration of your wait time. The food is good but definitely over priced.

I wish I could write a review about the food but I didn't even make it that far. My parents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and chose this place. I made reservations a week prior and showed up on time. However, when we arrived we were informed that someone made a mistake and sat another party without reservations at our table. The hostess was very kind and came up with a solution. She approached the other party and asked if they could shift down one chair so we could sit at the other half of the teppanyaki table. They refused and threatened to call the manager over. The hostess approached the manager and the manager told the hostess that we needed to sit at a side table, order our food there and wait for a table to open up. Come to find out the group was the manager's friends (she admitted it). Needless to say, we left and will never be back.

Chose this place spontaneously despite others having bad experiences. I thought I'd give it a try with my buddy. Took a while to be seated. We sat at the sushi bar. Witnessed a little tension between wait staff and sushi chef after there was a mistaken order. Thought it should've been more professional with it being the center focus of the restaraunt. The waitress gave us our waters. She was distasteful and could careless about serving us. Didn't get refill. When we ordered our meal she was so quick to go wherever she needed to go and almost missed taking my friends order. We had sushi, ramen and chicken katsu. She basically just dropped our food to us and didn't come back to ask how our meal was. Was quick to come back to drop our check off. Props to the chef for a filling meal.

I am writing this before my food arrives only because the service is terrible. The hostess was frazzled, a waitress who didn't know why we had not been helped took our order, and the manager talked to every table in the restaurant but us. It's almost like we are invisible.

Best sushi in Corvallis. The Las Vegas Roll and the Margarita Roll are both out of this world. I go here almost every week because it's that good. The service isn't the best I've experienced, but the food definitely makes up for it! It's nice to sit at the bar and watch your food being prepared. A good place for a date night or lunch with friends, and I've even gone here alone quite a few times and didn't feel weird. I like the atmosphere and how the place is decorated. I recommend to everyone who likes Asian food. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu and there are a lot of other options for those who aren't seafood lovers. No sushi I've tried anywhere else compares!

  • Jane C.

I really want to give this place 5 stars. The chef who came to our table (Charley I think) was amazing! He was not to chatty, nor did he ignore us. Made the night so much fun. However, the waitress was not very attentive. She would walk away when someone had just said something. It wasn't very loud, to not hear him. She just seemed like she had better things to do. All in all, the chef made our night esp for a friend's birthday we drove all the way from Portland to. But, the waitress almost ruined it. If we hadn't gotten that chef. I would probably say it would be 1-2 stars.

This is by far the best around!!!!! We go here all the time and have never had a bad experience. Have not had better sushi anywhere else

Good food but poor service. Was seated but then had to wait 20 minutes for waitress and water, and then only after I chased down a waitress that repeatedly walked past us without any eye contact. It wasn't crowded either and didn't look understaffed. Probably won't go back since this is the second time we've had such bad service.

We waiting two hours for one plate of noodles and one sushi roll. No one even offered us water. Horrible service. Good food though

Went here after 2 years, and I wasn't very impressed. Compared to Aomatsu and Sada, this place is definitely last on the list. The waitresses just sat there for a while and gossiped and laughed. It took a while for someone to realize we were ready to order. We ordered 4 rolls of sushi, which pretty much tasted the same. As I was eating, I couldn't help but think the rolls seemed slimy. The tempura rolls came back a little hot to eat, and it made certain elements of the sushi very mushy. The ingredients just didn't seem that fresh, either. We also ordered teriyaki chicken. It looked awesome when it came, but such a small portion. When we started to eat, the chicken was dry and chewy. Not that great. Overall, I would definitely recommend eating at a different sushi place. This place was ok, but definitely has a few stuff to work on.

HORRIBLE! I Got an Order to go. I ordered a teriyaki chicken meal and a vegetable tempura meal. I got home to discover I got NO rice. The teriyaki sauce that was on the chicken was the consistency of, and kinda tasted like, water. It tasted like they had mixed 1/4 teriyaki sauce with 3/4 water. It literally dripped off our utensils like we were spooning chicken out of broth. It was Nasty! I could not eat much. The Vegetable Tempura looked so pathetic. For 7.50 you get a few TINY pieces of shriveled vegetables. The sauce that came with those was horrible too! This was my first and WILL be my last experience here.

Took a chance on this instead of the busier place across the street. I was not disappointed. Sushi was large and fresh. Service was good. Just what I was jonesing for.

Excellent fresh sushi considering we are over and hour inland! We have only come for the sushi so I cannot attest to the Teppanyaki. Also a very good value and miso soup is excellent as well.

Wait at least 20 mins to come over to take our orders and more than 50 mins for the food to arrive. Very disappointed.

Haven't been here in ages! The many times I have been here have been with good friends. What really drew me here was the Japanese Steakhouse atmosphere! I love sushi and they definitely have those awesome tappenyaki grills to burn up some flavor into your food right in front of your eyes. They also interact with the customers! He had us flip fresh uncracked eggs with a spatula to try and land it in his hat. The best dish I had here was actually their buffalo steak! Cooked to perfection, I could not get enough! I remember the sushi being decent as well. They definitely have my all time favorite sake, hanyou or hanya sake which is a sweet and spicy plum sake. Surely a place with visiting at least once. Thanks for reading, hope it helps!

This was our first time here. I wanted to take my girl out some place a little nice and different. The yelp reviews were low, but the place looked nice. There is a nice ambiance about the place, but the customer service was D- or F! They forgot my girls order and brought me mine. After about 20 min they realized something was amiss and started asking questions. About 30 min after my bento box arrived her rolls showed up with no apology from the staff :-( I'll keep you posted if we get sick from the food, but it tasted good once it finally arrived. I give one star for food, but they weren't even busy on a Wednesday night when we went.

Haven't had good luck here. The service is pretty slow for a sushi joint, and the sushi usually comes out pretty poorly made and seems of low quality. I am not sure if they are trying to deal with how busy the place is, but I have had bad sushi here and have had to wait forever. I have yet to try the Teppenyaki grill here, but with the way the service is and sushi, I doubt I ever will.

Not bad.. We had some sushi, beers, and dinners. We went after an OSU baseball game. The teriyaki was pretty good. The sushi good, and beers... hard to mess up bud light in a bottle. Service was meh-oh. The place was closing shortly after we got there and they made it pretty obvious that they were coming to a close. I would go back, probably just not so close to closing time.

Sushi is NOT GOOD here. I would not return for the sushi. I tried the dragon roll, blue fin and yellow tail sushi. They put way too much rice on their sushi, and the fish was at best medium grade. I would have had the salmon but our waitress missed the order. The ginger salad was gross. :/ miso soup so-so The steak was great though! Chef was cool too, but I'm not in to that "catch this piece of egg in your mouth" gimmick. I just want to eat! I had the NY and it melted in my mouth. So for grilled food I would return here, for sushi no way....

We love going to Tokyo for the friendly staff who remembers us and usually already knows what we will be ordering. I like that. The Bento Boxes are delicious. The steak is tender and perfectly cooked. The salad and dressing that comes in the corner is always cool and crisp. The Crab Rangoon is flaky and creamy. A nice side. The tofu and shrimp are equally good. And the variety of vegetables used with tempura is lovely. They will even just give you mostly broccoli and mushrooms if you request. The owner is a sweet woman who is always friendly and helpful. I haven't tried the sushi, but my girlfriend loves the California rolls. We enjoy visiting this restaurant often. Also great for big groups and the chef cooks on the table right in front of you. Went for my teenage daughter's birthday. It was a hit.

The food was good, and service was fast. However, my roommates got salmon, and were vomiting of food poisoning later. I never get food poisoning, (Iron gut I guess?) but I did get a slight headache that night. Other than that, it was good. We went during lunch time, which has lunch prices, but they charged us dinner prices, so they charged us like $30 more. The error was corrected though once noticed.

One part Benihana, one part sushi bar and one part sit down restaurant all in downtown Corvallis. I'm a planner by nature, but there are times when I throw in the towel and concede defeat. Game day in Corvallis was one of those times. I had hoped to eat at another restaurant, but after battling the crowds and suffering a brutal defeat, waiting an hour or more for dinner at a place that doesn't take reservations just wasn't going to happen. Across the street from one of the more popular brewpubs in town was Tokyo Steakhouse & Sushi Bar. Japanese is one of my favorite cuisines and there wasn't a line so expediency won the day. We sat at the sushi bar because we really wanted something quick. If we had more time we would have considered one of the teppenyaki tables (Benihana-style grill). The food and presentation were fine. The service was slow and forgetful. Unfortunately our seats were also very cold since we seemed to get a breeze from the refrigerator at the sushi bar. This isn't going on my recommended list, but it got the job done. More than I can say for my team.

The sushi here is absolutely amazing, so fresh, my boyfriend and I fought over the last few pieces of spicy tuna rolls, they were just perfect. My only complaint is that although it is on the spendier side, the service didn't match the price. Our water was hard to find, and cold when she did come around.

Really great service. Really solid prices, and overall really solid food. As far as sushi in Corvallis you can't find a beat this place. The low reviews don't do it justice at all. I'm a sushi snob and I'd definitely come back.
