For a restaurant that specializes in noodles, they were not very impressive, but everything else was great! Please visit my blog for further details and more photos! hungrybeaverblog.wordpre…

Terrible. The mizithr noodles were a congealed, flavorless lump. The chicken Marsala had a disgusting sauce. The server forgot our forks after serving our pitiful salad for 10 minutes; even after reminding him, he only remembered when he delivered our main dishes. The only bright side was the ice cream :/ I hope they move out of the Terminal space soon, such a waste!

The food seemed like stuff I could make at home and turn out better. All the hype and I just wasn't impressed. It is reasonably priced for the bread, salad and dessert that comes with every meal, so if your just looking to get full, this is the place. Otherwise, it's not worth the long wait.

Service has been very bad on last two visits Will not be going back although food is better than average. Slow service again with several issues. I'm done!

Living in Portland, The Old Spaghetti Factory is a really great place to be. The food is extremely fast and the workers are extremely friendly and on top of everything. I can't say the same for the location in Corvallis. The first time I went here, it was 2 days after it had opened so I tried to cut them some slack when I went for my birthday dinner. They were extremely slow and the food was bad. One of my friends said that the chicken she had ordered tasted like somebody microwaved it. Ew. I had thought when I came to a friend's birthday dinner here 5 months later, they would have it together; I was wrong. The food itself was fine, but the customer service needs to be fixed, and fast. I think the workers need to take a trip up to the Portland location and see how the restaurant is suppose to run. The service again was extremely slow. The servers and hosts seemed clueless on tables available and wait times and just customer service in general. When I came in to put my name down for 9 people at first, the hosts just stared at me like I was speaking Italian. I literally had to ask them "So, can you put my name down on a list? How long do I have to wait?" I was told 4 different times I would be seated before I was actually seated with my party. It was just a confusing moment that really shouldn't have even been an issue. It was a nice try Corvallis, and we all appreciate the effort, but seriously step it up. I love this place in Portland and I wish I could say the same here.

I don't typically write reviews for corporate restaurants. Food is predictable, decor is unoriginal, whatever. Pretty much how I felt about the Old Spaghetti Factory in Corvallis. I left full and satisfied, but nothing life-changing or particularly notable. However, I wanted to give huge thanks to our great server, Priscilla. We showed up with a large group - booked for 10, 4 showed up on time, and a total of 7 showed up eventually. She didn't mind that we had a smaller group. We were also difficult with lots of weird food allergies and people asking for substitutions. Also, when my extended family gets together, they tend to... joke around. Priscilla took all of this in stride and didn't seem to mind how annoying and weird we were. She was an absolute A+ server and made our time there great! Thanks!

Terrible. I got the chicken Marsala and it was like nothing I've ever had before, nasty sweet vinegary sauce, I got no idea how they came up with that interpretation. Pasta was overcooked and mealy. The salad was brown wilted iceberg with no other veg. My girlfriend got the crab ravioli, the most expensive thing on the menu, it was filled with fake crab - which the menu said nothing about, the menu said crab. Fake crab is not crab. The fake crab tasted bad. Service was slow, rude, and incompetent. The location is nice and one can only hope this place shuts down due to it being absolutely terrible and someone who knows what they're doing moves in. Do not eat here.

Like a Chucky Cheese, but with pasta. They are doing what they can with the low prices they charge. You get what you pay for.

I have no idea why my coworkers love this place so much. It's spaghetti. Not amazing, transcendent spaghetti... just run-of-the-mill spaghetti that I can make at home. There is nothing interesting or unique about their dishes. However, it is always packed with a line out the door. The service is annoying... five different people taking care of refilling your water, bringing different courses, but that means the person bringing the main course doesn't know whom it belongs to, and they always come ask you how the food tastes while you have a mouthful. Just another chain. I would KILL for some legit Italian food in this town, but this ain't it (nor is Pastini).

The other poor reviews are true. First rule of Yelp is that you don't trust the high reviews of people that only have a couple of reviews. Those are people that probably work there. The food is not good, and the service still needs a lot of work. My wife and I came in last night and were pleasantly greeted and got seated almost immediately. So far, so good. After we ordered, it took forever to get our drinks and our salads. We never got bread until after our main courses had arrived. My wifes salad didn't have enough dressing, and I didn't get the extra dressing on the side as requested, but we never saw our server again for another 20 minutes. Well, we did see her, she just never came and checked in on us. After getting our meals, they were pretty bad. My spaghetti with the mizthra cheese was flavorless and lacked salt, and my wifes spinach ravioli was stuck together in a big mass with what seemed like a horrible canned Alfredo sauce. You know how you get those Alfredo sauces at the store and they have a weird taste you can't put your finger on? This was that taste. It took forever to get our bills, refills, and the quality just seemed really poor. Mind you, I'll give this place another shot because it is new and our server seemed really new, but I can't recommend this place until I see a lot more positive reviews. The building is beautiful, but go get a good meal at Pastini. They have consistently good service and food that isn't bland. We won't be back for quite a while. And for a first time ever to this chain, I am highly disappointed.

I had high expectations and was so excited to try this place. Maybe it's because we got it as a takeout, I'm not sure. But regardless, it was Fred Meyer microwaveable quality dinner for a grand total of $25. I'm usually easy to please when it comes to food and rarely conclude that money spent on food was wasteful. But this was ridiculous. I had the chicken parmigiana and it was spaghetti noodles with canned tomatoes and sauce (super sour) with string cheese microwaved. My friend got the fettuccine and it was so oily ad buttery that he couldn't finish it because he felt sick half way through his meal. Definitely will not be going back for a while until things settle down.

Holy wow! The girl at the front desk had a attitude problem, not sure what that was all about...Crazy wait for terrible food. I ordered pasta with sausage and subbed the red sauce for white. My plate came with sausage with the red sauce scraped off. 18.00 per person.

Unless you need big LED TV's for your italian dining experience, dont waste your time. Go to Pastinis. Old spaghetti factory is like olive garden with fresh basil. If you want truely delicious italian food and are in Corvallis, Pastinis is the only option IMO.

  • Paul W.

If you want good spaghetti, this is not the place to find it. There are some excellent alternatives in the Corvallis, Albany, and Lebanon area (like Mama's Fine Italian in Lebanon), and this place suffers from comparison to nearly any Italian restaurant around. I would say our meal started off well with an excellent salad, and finished well with the spumoni ice cream. Everything in between was mediocre at best. The Italian sausage with meat sauce (my selection) was almost tasteless. If you are looking for a good pasta sauce, this is NOT the place to find it. If you want to wait around for 90 minutes to get a seat on a Friday night, as people were doing as we left the restaurant, this is your type of dining. I found the place extremely noisy as well, and could barely hold a conversation. In its favor, the prices were reasonable, the staff was courteous, and we were seated promptly for our 4:30 reservation. However, it was to be our last visit to The Old Spaghetti Factory.

The building of the restaurant was lovely, had a historic vibe to it. The place was packed so we weren't expecting fast service. We were suprised when everything did come out in a timely fashion. I had the pasta with clam sauce. It was lacking clams, and the flavor was so-so. My boyfriend had the no3 platter. It was spaghetti, meatballs, and Italian sausage. We were expecting a bigger plate of food but it was a lot smaller than expected. Had 2 meatballs and 1 sausage, they were very tasty but we expected a little more than that. Most of the dinner entrees come with bread, soup or salad and then at the end your choice of ice cream, which made it so we really didn't need much of an appetizer. Our server was friendly at the beginning but then kind of unpleasant at the end. Overall not a bad experience and probably will go back to try something else.

Food tasted great. Both of the adult dishes seemed to be lacking on the amount of meat in our entrees. I am guessing that will be worked out after all the grand opening craziness. Busy, busy, busy but it was opening weekend. The cheese bread was different than I remember. The cotton candy drinks were great for my girls. Jade did a great job. She was friendly, fast and efficient.

This place was amazing. Great food, beautiful restaurant, good service, large portions, good prices and a nice view of the river from our booth. I will definitely be going back whenever I get the chance.

Not the greatest service. Really long wait, made longer by disorganization of the host staff. Waitress visited maybe 3 times including to take our drink order and food order. Mediocre food. Overpriced for the Sysco food taste. You can find better in Corvallis.

I have eaten here twice for lunch. The first time was with my parents and the second time was with them plus another family of three. The first time I had the Manager's Favorite. You choose two pasta sauces of your choice. The mushroom sauce and meat sauce were both very good. I chose the whole grain pasta which does not cost any extra over the regular semolina pasta. They also have gluten free pasta. Here comes my complaint: you have a choice of a side salad or a cup of soup. The salad is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. It consisted of iceberg lettuce, a scattering of grated carrot, a scattering of red cabbage, Parmesan cheese, croutons and the dressing of your choice on the side. I ate lunch at Pastini's Friday and their side salad that accompanies a $7.50 lunch is infinitely better. The chef at OSF should eat lunch at Pastini's sometime to learn how to make a salad--starting with dark greens and not iceberg lettuce. Needless to say the second time I had a cup of soup with my entree. The service was good. Be sure to make reservations.

This is a review for people who want to eat here during a lunch hour. Came into restaurant at roughly 11:35. Asked the host roughly how long a whole meal takes. He assured us most people could be out of the restaurant within 45 minutes. We had 1 hour and 25 minutes so we sat down. All 5 of us had different meeting to attend at 1pm. Below is what happened step by step: We were sat at a 4 person table while we had 5 patrons. There were two 6 people booths empty nearby. A couple of us had to stand up out of our chairs twice to allow people to get by. We ordered our meals the same time as the beverages. This was very convenient and appreciated the flexibility from the wait staff in doing this. The bread and butter came out plenty quick and the bread was nice and warm. The knife was equivalent to a dull butter knife. We ended up just squashing the bread. A nice bread knife could be a good investment if you plan on serving bread at each meal. Waters and Soda's came out quickly and were refilled as soon as needed. Food showed up around 12:00, which is when we asked for the bill, that way we could pay it right away and be ready to leave once we are done eating. We finished eating and the bill was still not there. Around 12:20 we asked for our bill. 12:25 we asked for our bill again. 12:30'ish we got our bill and immediately put our credit cards on there and sent it away. 12:35 asked when we could sign. 12:40 asked for our credit cards back, and one togo box. 12:45 got our togo box. 12:48 got our checks back and signed and left. Car/Drive back to work, most of us ended up being late. Food Review: Chicken panini sandwich was mediocre. Chicken Salad was nice. Pasta with meatballs was average. Cream of Broccoli was good. Minestrone was excellent.

We really enjoyed our experience at this restaurant! The good was very tasty and served up in perfectly sized portions. The service was fast and very friendly. The prices were surprisingly reasonable! The children's menu pretty much only has pasta based options ( no surprise) so if your kiddos don't like that the are not many other options. Our server however, accommodated us and pointed out sides that were not on the menu that she could bring us. The highlight came at the end of our meal when the extremely talented and friendly baloon artist came over and made a gorgeous baloon dragon for our daughter! So much fun! Will most certainly be visiting this establishment again!

I'm definitely a fan. The food is great I think, I mean it's pasta, you can't mess that up. The staff is friendly, however I think they are still in a training period because some of them seem nervous still. The drinks are yummy, you get soup/salad and dessert with your meal which is nice. There can be a long wait for a table if you go around dinner time, but if you're willing to sit at the bar top you can usually get a seat there pretty quickly.

Service was a little slow. It was nice that other staff helped. Server forgot our drinks and some food. Food very average but filling. Overall an OK experience. I'd go back based on other past experiences.

Took my family to OSF for dinner last night. Was it a stellar visit? No. Was it awful? Again no. As with any new restaurant there are a few glitches to be expected. Their "text your phone when your table is ready" didn't work for us and when we finally inquired they said they had texted twice. Nothing on the phone. They put us at the top of the list and shazaam! text on the phone. Our server was very attentive and did a good job - we wanted for nothing. Now to the food. It was adequate but not as I remember. It's funny most all other reviews talk about the steak knife given to cut the bread with. There is no cutting the bread with it, it is more of a smash and tear. That being said the bread was warm and very tasty. We all chose salads with the pesto dressing. I was expecting a strongly seasoned garlicy flavor but it was very bland. Sad. I got chicken fettuccini and the rest of the fam got meat sauce with meatballs. They raved about their sauce but I actually had flashbacks of that awful Olive Garden microwaved food. The alfredo sauce had broken and although with a liberal dose of salt and pepper and grated cheese it had flavor, the texture was not so great. After all of that whining, I have to admit we will be back. The place has been open for just a month and I think maybe another month or two down the road we will give it another shot. I remain hopeful.

Went to there to celebrate friend's birthday, was very disappointed with the pasta, which tasted like microwave dinner. The servants were friendly to help us light 20 candles on the birthday cake, they earned the second star for this restaurant.

Came here after the Civil War game and sat in the bar lounge area, which is was comfortable & spacious. There were 3 TV's playing various football games. I've been to other Old Spaghetti Factory restaurants, so I knew what to expect in terms of the food, which was consistent with the other locations I've been to. The service was fast & friendly. The one thing I really liked is that it had OSU Beaver memorabilia all over the restaurant!

  • E K.

Few restaurants deserve a one-star rating, but this place is an exception. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. The majority of the food looks like it came straight from a can. To top it off, I haven't heard good things about the management, and with the high turnover of their employees it definitely shows. Save yourself the money (and time, they're very slow!) and don't eat here!

Not sure why the bad reviews. Same service and taste as all other OSGF. Love he Claim and mizithra.

Woof, is all I can say, This is supposed to be Italian? The only reason I am giving this two stars is the wait staff, were very attentive and timely. . Other than that,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.WOOF,...quality of the ingredients is poor. Minestrone soup, Yuck, tastes like it came out of can. Poorly made with mostly pasta and too much oil. A good minestrone will have real tomatoes and some real vegetables in it, not just Lima and garbanzo beans. Ceaser salad, the lettuce was fresh, but where did they get that dressing? Horrible. Chicken Marsala, mushrooms came out of a can, chicken is ok, but that is not a Marsala sauce, No way. Way too much oil. My recommendation is to find new recipes.......................

Fuck man. I really wanted to like this place. I really did. Barely out of the gate and already a mess. So one of my coworkers wanted to do a big dinner with all the people from work but didn't get a definite headcount for the reservation so she told the host anywhere from 8-16 people - they told us the only time they could get us in was at 8:30 on a Wednesday. They had no record of her reservation. Our party was sat at 4 different tables in a shitty area of the restaurant (right by the stairs for food runners). Whatever -- it's cool, I don't mind having to sit at different tables, but you don't even have a record of our reservation? Did you just forget to write it down? What's up with that? We all sat down, and some people ordered cocktails and beer. One beer and one cocktail comes out, and then two waters come out. The (what I assume to be) water runner comes out, looking confused, and says/asks, "I have two waters?". I pipe up and ask for a round of waters for everyone. Cocktails coming out before water should never happen... Like ever. We finally get all of our waters, except for two - two of us didn't get waters so we asked for two more. They never came. But our waitress did remember to refill one cola and get someone else a second drink. We all order our food with "unlimited bread sticks" and soups/salads. Our 8 person table got 2 small loaves of bread, on a cutting board that was obviously from the kitchen, with a steak knife to cut the bread. Are you joking? The steak knife wasn't even long enough to go through the width of the bread. We immediately asked for more bread. It never came. The salad tasted like it came out of a bag and then was doused in dressing, rendering it inedible (I got the balsamic, my friends mostly got Caesar and while they said it was too heavily dressed they could still eat it because it wasn't so vinegar-y). My friend who got the soup said it tasted like it was straight out of the can, which most soups are, but she also said it was lukewarm. Yikes. Our food comes out, and everyone's looks really mediocre. Over-boiled too plump noodles/pasta topped with cheap canned sauces. From what I saw out of the end that I was sitting: plain spaghetti with marinara (looked like canned stewed tomatoes with Italian seasoning), spinach and cheese tortellini with a white sauce (white sauce was stark white, no flecks of seasoning etc), shrimp scampi (completely doused in pepper), and chicken parm (which looked microwaved). And I got the mizithra cheese with brown butter sauce which is supposed to be a spaghetti with cheese and brown butter. Everyone except the shrimp scampi could eat the majority of their food. I could hardly eat two bites. The noodles were overcooked to the point that I couldn't even twirl them!! I looked for the brown butter knowing that the only thing that can break up something too starchy is fat, but it appeared that my sauce made it to the plate before my noodles. All that delicious brown butter was on the bottom of my plate and refused to make contact with the noodles, and the mizithra cheese was acting more like paper, getting stuck to the noodles making it impossible to pick them up, not melting, or doing normal things that cheese does when it gets together with pasta. I was trying to eat the food - I really was. My friends even looked at me wrestling with the noodles and said, "you should ask for more sauce". I know what happens when you complain about the food at restaurants. I worked in restaurants for years. Obviously, not every restaurant will do that, but the concept still scares me. I was being a total wimp about it and then I finally did it - I asked for more sauce. I tried a couple bites but I still could hardly eat the noodles. They wouldn't make a neat twirl, and I ended up sucking up noodles like I didn't know how to eat spaghetti. Here's the worst part: we were seated by some place where the waitstaff put in orders or something. Throughout the WHOLE MEAL they would congregate in groups of 2-6 and complain and yell at each other. They were literally just standing there while we had been asking for more bread and water. Here's my message to the employees/waitstaff/cooks: I know how hard it is to be part of the start up of a new business, I've worked the grand openings of two different restaurants. I know it gets crazy and everything is still pretty disorganized, but get your shit together. Make sure that you try to do your best and at the very least have a goddamn smile on your face. Our waitress was obviously frazzled but held her own and tried her hardest. I could tell she was trying. Try not to overcook the pasta. Pasta is not hard to make right. Here's my message to management: if you guys are that fucking swamped on a WEDNESDAY AFTER TRADITIONAL DINNER HOURS you should maybe think about putting more people on the schedule. Get your shit together. Seriously. I'll come back to this place once the training wheels come off & edit.

Garbage chain, why did they bother opening? Sub par food. Seems to be high turnover of staff; I've heard around the grapevine that management isn't very nice to them at this location. Want the same quality of Italian food? Go to Safeway and get a box of pasta and make it at home.

Excellent experience here. Enjoyed a short wait at the bar and received a text when table was ready. The wine list is not extensive but inclusive enough to suit most. Purchased a bottle and it was served properly. I ordered my favorite mizithra cheese pasta and it was perfect. My bf had spinach ravioli and spaghetti with meat sauce which I enjoyed also (but he will leave his own review). The manager stopped to make sure we were happy as well. Good job, hope they stay around.

Not the best experience but not the worst. The food was good, I always get the browned butter and mizithra. I had to have a meatball. The salad, bread, and pasta were fantastic and what I usually expect. The service, however, is new and I felt there were well too many people working. I'll definitely come back. After they get a lot more experience, I feel the service will improve.

"30 minutes", that's what we were told. That was an hour ago! Somehow they are able to sit several tables for 4 while we wait twice as long as I was told for a party of 5. When I asked why are there several tables of 2,4, 6 and 10 being seated ahead of me, I get an excuse of table space for 4 is too small to seat 5 in, reservations and the table for 10 is too big of a table to only seat 5 people . Oh and not one person bothered to ask about how we were doing, give us an update or apologized for the wait. We have finally been seated...after complaining a 2nd time and speaking to the "manager". And what does he do to correct it?... a free appateizer. Wow, really? So disappointing. I think next time I'll just make the drive to Olive Garden in Salem. Update: after asking to speak to the general manager, he came over, apologized, gave us a card saying we won't have to wait next time we come and paid for our meals. That definitely helped. I have changed my review from 2 to 4 stars.

  • Amy A.

We will NEVER go back here again!!!! Our meals took forever to come and there was no one else in the restaurant- no wonder! I bet we waited 45 minutes for basic pasta and sauce and even the chicken Caesar salad! HORRIBLE SERVICE is all I can say! Do not go unless you want to wait then have very mediocre food that's not hot.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
