Authentic Mexican food and candy. We tried the taquitas, enchiladas and burritos, all delicious. The only complaints we have are that they don't serve warm queso and you have to pay for a refill of chips. But this is our favorite Mexican place in Corvallis.

Eh. For a while all I had were the tacos with beef, and I loved those. Then I tried a burrito, and it was decent, but warm lettuce is weird to me. I got a margarita once and it was SUPER weak. Like I drank it pretty quickly and felt nothing, and I'm small and half-Asian, for God's sake. I saw them microwaving a burrito once, and didn't go back after that. Maybe it makes me a snob, but seeing a restaurant microwave anything is a huge turn-off.

Taquería Alonzo is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The service is friendly, they have wonderful tacos, and their burritos aren't bad. I would give them a three overall, but considering it's better than the competition in the area, they deserve 4.

A coworker recommended Alonzo to me, and it's some of the best food advice I've had in a long time. Although...I have to say....my first dish was pretty underwhelming, so let's get that out of the way. Maybe you should skip the fish tacos. I cannot recommend the super burrito enough, however. Try it with the bbq pork. It's sooo delicious, and worth 8 bucks. They're menu is extensive, try something interesting. The staff is awesome and their chips (home-made) and salsas (I presume the same) are just perfect. You can surely miss it, wedged into a strip-mall across Kings from Fred Meyer.

My criteria for 5-star taquerias: amazing tacos with at least 2 great meat choices, at least one other great entree such as camarones a la diabla or chicken mole, and great salsa. Taqueria Alonza gets 1 out of 3 in that its camarones a la diabla is really delicious and quite reasonably priced. The tacos are very good, but the meats aren't quite as memorably flavorful as the best taquerias I've been to. They're still very good, and I happily order them. The only bad is the salsa. It's only a fairly mild and rather thin red salsa or even milder pico de gallo. I want at least 1 roasted pepper spicier salsa and a tomatillo salsa. Also, no mole. Overall, this is my go-to place for Mexican food mainly just because I like their meats better than La Rockita's.

Favorite Mexican place in Corvallis. Great food, always tasty. Portions are large, service is always great and prices are quite reasonable. This place is a staple for my husband and I, probably eat there monthly and are never disappointed. We almost always order the wet burritos, YUM! Can't get burritos this good anywhere else in Corvallis. Other dishes are good too, the chimichangas are pretty awesome as well. Alonzo is great, give it a try!

I am a taco fanatic and their carne asada and al pastor tacos are great I think. I have only eaten the tacos and I highly recommend them with either crispy or soft tortillas. I am not so sure about the guacamole though. It is the soupy style and not exactly to my taste. They also have a habanero salsa that is excellent if you like blazing heat. One my most favorite things to eat are tacos with a really hot salsa and a cold cerveza and Taqueria Alonzo is great for this.

I have to admit that the first time I ate at Taqueria Alonzo (about a year ago) I thought that I didn't get much value for my money. Now I couldn't disagree with my initial assessment more. The folks are really friendly and they will remember you the next time you come in. The Veggie burrito is amazing. I also love the crunchy tacos. My kids love the soft tacos and quesadillas. Now I probably eat there once every week to two weeks.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
