So, i am surprised to hear so many bad things on here. I love King Tin! I have lived all over this country and had a lot of Chinese, and still King tin is one of my favorites. I have had WAY worse "Americanized" Chinese food. Perhaps the people who think everything is fried only get sweet and sour dishes? Try the dry cooked string beans, or the bean curd in black bean sauce. The Singapore noodles are amazing. Try something out of the ordinary and you will not be sad. There is always room for a big group, and yet they are always busy. The food is affordable, and the plates are BIG! #corvSMB

I really do like the environment of the restaurant itself, but I think the food isn't that great. The Egg Flour soup was good, but the Kung Pao chicken had barely any kick. The food was mediocre, at best. I am not sure I would eat here again personally.

Large portion sizes. Mediocre food. Slow service. Marginal prices. Styrofoam to-go containers (not acceptable). Probably won't be back.

There are 2 chinese places I've liked in Corvallis, and this is one of them. I've stuck with their chow-fun, but the other food with meat had big chunks that I needed to cut each bite. The egg rolls are good, and their hot and sour soup is okay. The best part- the portions are HUGE! The

Pretty decent chinese food for Corvallis I think. I usually get the honey walnut shrimp (favorite), combination chow fun, and won ton soup. The portions are very large so bring friends with you to help you out. My only complaint is that the decor and the furniture seems very outdated. The paint is peeling off of the chairs and tables, the leather booths are very dull looking and some have holes. I just think they need to revamp some things.

From the grapevine I'm told that this is the best chinese in Corvallis , I would agree based on the dishes and steady client base moving through . The portions are huge and quaility great , feel confident bringing a large group here and leaving satisfied.

Greasy Americanized Chinese food showered in MSG. Couldn't Corvallis do better? After all, this is a college town with tons of international Chinese students around. When we walked in the restaurant, we were immediately shocked and a bit disgusted by the piles of dirty plates lying on many tables. It looked like there was only one waitress waiting on tables, answering phone orders, and cleaning every table all by herself. I felt sorry for her and I understood that she simply couldn't clean up every table in time. But it's just not very appetizing when every table surrounding you is covered by dirty dishes while you are eating. My expectation was low since I knew this is a Chinese restaurant in a small college town in Oregon. However, I still got quite disappointed. Do they really need to pile on that much grease, salt and MSG on their food? I lived in Oregon for years and usually I am pretty tolerant toward Americanized Chinese food. But the food here is just unacceptable. I could see a thick layer of grease on top of my wonton soup, and I could taste MSG on every bite of the Peking Ribs, Fried Rice and Mu Shi Pork. I felt sick for the whole afternoon after dinning here. The service was friendly, helpful and attentive which I appreciated. The pricing was pretty reasonable at around $7.50 per dish. I just wish their food was more edible.

Fast. Cheap. Hot. King Tin is like one of the restaurants in Defending Your Life, bringing you dishes that will feed a family of three, a huge container of rice and refilling your teapot at will. The service is lavish for such a simple place. It's bright, the booths are huge and the tables are spacious. The atmosphere is late night diner, Chinese style. They have the standard American Chinese food -- fried balls of meat with sugar sauce -- but they also have more traditional options with bean curd (tofu), fish and lots of fresh veggies.

Love the food. Tastes authentic like the ones I get at home or in China. Does not taste Americanized at all. But for those of you who are use to the Americanized Chinese food, this place is not for you. I wanted to take pictures of the menu to post up here but forgot to after I started looking at the menu. Same to be said for the pictures of the food... sorry I took them halfway into eating them. Well worth the price - huge portions. I went there with a friend, ordered 4 plates for a total of $40, and we ate only half of it. Lots of leftovers to tie me over until next week. Dry beef chow fun eggplant with garlic sauce Green beans and chicken Mapo tofu

The food isn't particularly delicious here - but if you want to be fed with a wheelbarrow (meaning HUGE plates of food) it's the place to go. My wife, young son and I always share a single meal and have leftovers to take home (which we never eat - lol) They do have a way nice darling friendly waitress tho, and always treat us well.

I like this place. Big portions, lady up front shelling beans, and tons of Asians. Always a good sign to me. Yes some of the dishes are much better than others, but I think it has one of the best Wonton soups around, and that makes me a fan. Shrimp with Lobster sauce is another winner in my book. Unfortunately they don't offer combo plates so that could be an issue to some. I mainly come for the Wonton soup when I am sick so this might not be much help. One of the better Chinese places around IMHO.

We had heard good things about this restaurant so we thought we would give it a try. We couldn't have had a worse experience. After an hour of waiting for our meal, the waitress said that the kitchen "didn't have time to make 2 of the 3 dishes we had ordered." She then said they would bring out our food as it was ready(and we had already waited an hour). Ten min passed and still no food. We finally walked out without eating. Never been to a restaurant before that said they "didn't have time to make the food" so that was a first!

Went in here for dim sum today. I knew that they didn't have a dim sum menu, but we just ordered several plates from the appetizer menu: potstickers, stuffed fried wontons, shrimp rolls, and egg rolls. It was a bit heavier than a typical dim sum menu, but each dish was solid. Loved the shrimp rolls and the fried stuffed wontons. Our server brought us a nice assortment of sauces and apologized for not having "real" dim sum. She also threw in some above average egg drop soup for us. I'd repeat the experience, but I think I'd get some stir fried greens and brown rice to round the meal out a bit better. I'll be back for sure.

This review is solely based on their food and not their service as we ordered take out. 3.5 stars We ordered (total $21): Chow fun Beef string bean Fried rice [+/-] The portions were very generous. The chow fun and especially, the beef string bean were made to perfection... Well, all was great, until I noticed the blob of oil floating around in the corner of the to-go box. Yuck! The fried rice, not so good. It was bland, dry and did not have enough eggs in there! I had to use the sauce from the beef string bean to give it some moisture. [~] Okay, so I read on here from many yelpers that this place is Americanized, actually the food here are pretty standard from where I am from. Maybe it's the food that you ordered? I also read that MSG (or too much MSG) was used; actually ALL CHINESE restaurants use MSG! No kidding. How do I know? My dad is a chef. [?] This place is one of the better places in Corvallis to have Chinese food because of the generous portions for the amount you pay. If MSG is not your thing OR if you are a picky Chinese food critique, then you'd better stay home and cook your own dinner. Yeah, I'll probably come back here again.

Honestly, I generally eat at China Delight when I get a craving for Chinese food these days. King Tin is a bit more traditional feeling (to me) and while not spectacular, gets the job done. I still come away satisfied, but generally look elsewhere for my Asian food cravings. #corvsmb

I have been coming to this place since I was 5 years old. I never get tired of it! their sweet and sour chicken and fried rice is the best I have ever had! Whenever I am in OR I have to stop there.

The quantities are large, but the quality is not. A bit bland and not that great. Pretty so-so in a town with a lot of choices.

King Tin is one of my favorite places to eat Chinese food in Corvallis. The food is good and it feels more of a traditional Chinese restaurant than others in Corvallis that I have been to.

King Tin has so much potential to become the premier Chinese eatery in Corvallis, but like the city it has succombed to the struggling standard of American Chinese crap. Virtually anything that has to do with authenticity is supplemented with a fried alternative here. And even then, the food is hard to justify as most MSG ladden dishes are salty and insatiable. The service is decent and has been attentive in most respects. As for the ambiance, it has been crowded during most of my visits here which is an impressive feat given how spacious the place is. With a solid decor and plenty of space, it would be ideal to throw an event for a good size group here.

This place is okay at best. In all times I have eaten here over the years, I have never seen the dinning room busy at all. The staff seem very sedentary in their jobs and make no extra effort in service. The food is Americanized Chinese and bland at best. With ample portions you will definitely have leftovers for lunch the next day.

Americanized chinese and not in the good way as echoed with the other reviewers. Methinks they do much of their seasoning with just salt and MSG. Here's an idea, get your lazy ass to season with some soy sauce, oyster sauce and or onions, garlic, scallions and the like.. Large portions but so? It's putrid garbage you're eating. Don't be so gullible and easy. This is the one time I'd pick Panda Express.. ok that and when I was living in Indiana.

I lived a year in Corvallis and every week we ate at this restaurant. Excellent food and good service. My favorite was the fish in garlic sauce.

I have always loved their food, especially duck rice noodle soup, shrimp with lobster sauce, chow fun, chicken with broccoli. The vegetables are always super fresh and the portions are generous. I am disappointed that they use MSG and trans fat and that has impacted how often I go. They can accommodate large groups. Great for takeout. I like the staff, always friendly. It seems they are not nearly as busy as they used to be, even though the food is as good as it always was, which makes one feel alone in their large dining room. They could downsize the size of their restaurant for this reason.

Great service, so-so food, average prices. I like the hot and sour soup and the fried rice, but the food is mediocre. There aren't really any exceptional Chinese food places in Corvallis, so don't expect to get much better. I still prefer my usual place in Gresham.

Use to live in this town over 10 years ago and King Tin was the place to go if we wanted chinese food. Got our usual Mongolian beef, hunan chicken, and lemon chicken. I'm not sure if the quality of the food has gone down or we just loved this place because it was pretty much our only option in Corvallis but we were disappointed with all 3 dishes. I must say the service was great but food was very disappointing.

One of the better Chinese restaurants around here :) Fresh, not too mushy veggies cooked to perfection :) Always good friendly service :)

Excellent food and large portions at very reasonable prices. Alcohol and drink purchases are also at a very reasonable priced. Staff is most friendly. This is a rare find. Every time we're here from Louisville this is a must.

Been here with family since my kid days in the 90s. The menu has seen many changes but my family's main staples still remain the same: peking ribs, shrimp chow fun, wonton noodle soup, happy family, and mapo tofu. The honey walnut shrimp is a recent addition (by recent I mean like 5 or so years ago) and a hit or miss for me. Some days the walnuts taste great and the shrimp cooked to a perfect crisp and other days not so much. Yes, the food is quite Americanized but in a small town like Corvallis with a relatively small Asian population, this is the optimal way for the owners to make money. Removing cultural bias aside (lack of authenticity), the food is quite good and the servers are very friendly. Definitely a worthwhile place to grab lunch or dinner.

Great food. It's been one of my all time favorites in Corvallis since the mid 90's. The service is fast most of the time and the prices are fair. I do wish they would clean the place up and remodel. It's starting to feel old and dirty.

Like a few other people have said, I have been coming here since i was a kid. And still will continue to go, because my parents love it. I have a sort of fondness for this place just because of those reasons. So many memories here. From a critical perspective this place is good enough, but not great. The wait times can be long sometimes, and the food is often fairly bland. But the quantities are GREAT for the price. The dishes are huge! Try the dry cooked string beans with mushrooms. And their War Wonton Soup is pretty darn good too!

I usually order takeout and they have it ready within 10 minutes. The food is delicious and is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Keep up the great service !

My wife and I totally enjoy good Chinese food, but cannot find many restaurants that meet our requirements. King Tin meets and even exceeds those requirements. For about 10 years now, we drive 60 miles to eat at King Tin and have yet to be let down. We highly recommend this restaurant if you want quality food, adequate amounts to fill you, at a very reasonable price.

My staple Chinese food location in Corvallis, which is not to say it's the greatest Chinese ever. Corvallis doesn't really HAVE any great Chinese food options, unfortunately. King Tin has very large portions, decent service, plenty of space in the restaurant. They will also make changes to dishes to accommodate allergies when they can. And for those people saying "OMG MSG" - the only menu item they serve with MSG in it is the egg flour soup. My mom is allergic to MSG so I had to ask when she came to visit and we had lunch there a couple years back. I like the wonton soup, chicken chow mein and broccoli beef best of what I've had there, I think.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
