Their Yelp page is misleading, it says they deliver but when I called they said no delivery. If your establishment doesn't provide delivery than don't advertise that you do.

I hardly ever write mediocre reviews, because I find them useless. However, I choose to in this case because the other "Chinese" food restaurant in Ashland is absolutely horrible. Panda Garden is crime against food. Golden Dynasty at least has some redeeming qualities, such as their Mar Far Chicken. Anyway, I think Ashland needs an upscale Chinese restaurant.

Consistent, pleasant servers, reasonably priced, and plates have much higher than expected meat volume. It's a favorite spot. There are always many Asian exchange students eating there, which I consider an endorsement of their quality as well.

This is the best Chinese food in Ashland. They use fresh vegetables and the dishes that I've had are excellent. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. I'm so happy that they're here because the food is really good and reasonably priced.

Seriously the best fried rice and Almond fried chicken I've ever had. Husband loved the honey walnut shrimp.

My wife & I discovered this chinese restaurant because it was close to our motel & had lots of free parking. I always try sweet & sour chicken in a new chinese place because, if they can achieve that delicate balance between sweet & sour, then I'm pretty sure I'll like their cooking generally. Well, I loved it----enough that we ate there twice in the week we were in town. (I prefer milder seasonings, myself, but they offer plenty of spicy stuff, too.) I have precious little time to spend writing reviews, but we liked this place enough that I'm writing this over a month after the fact. The wait staff were attentive, prompt, and clearly wanted to please us. I had a slight problem with some part of my meal and the waitress was very conscientious about checking with the cook and correcting it----don't recall what was wrong, but I know I was very happy with the response. The prices are quite reasonable & the food we had was very tasty. Very good "bang for your buck". We also liked how comfortably light and open the restaurant is----lots of large windows. If you like good chinese food, good service, and a family atmosphere for a modest price----and you're not looking for a fancy, trendy, or hipster feel----you'll like this solid little place. We visit Ashland every year for a week and we'll definitely be back!!

We were in town for just one day, driving through, decided to have Chinese food and saw this restaurant. Came in with hesitation, but were pleasantly surprised.,. VERY GOOD FOOD! Dim sum with chicken/pork/shrimp and honey/walnut chicken were delicious! Waitress was friendly and attentive.

I have to say I've tried my fair share of Chinese restaurants here in ashland and medford... One of the only ones I'll go to! They're mooshu dishes are awesome!!! I also enjoy their noodle dishes and tofu dinners. They give great portions for the price you pay! The service is awesome too, very friendly. Would recommend!

  • David H.

The guy that served us was very rude and awkward. The food is overpriced and mediocre at best, if you want to substitute chicken for pork on one of there combos they charge you an extra 5.50. Not only that but right after we are my wife and I both instantly got sick. Definitely won't be back.

I decided to write a review for this place because like another reviewer I agree that this place doesn't deserve the terrible rating it has. We actually avoided going here for a long time because of the bad reviews but one day went in just because it is so close by. This is not gourmet Asian fusion so don't expect that. It is just plain good American style Chinese food. My favorite thing here is the Crab Puffs, so crispy and creamy, yum! I didn't realize before they explained it to me, but if you want pan fried noodles, DON'T order chow mein, order the low mein. I am happily munching on leftover pork fried rice and low mein as I write. Also there is a waitress here, maybe one of the owners (?), who works her butt off and is very attentive.

*MOST DISGUSTING MEAL EVER* - today at lunch GOLDEN DYNASTY in Ashland served me and my sweetheart RUBBER MEAT / MICROWAVED for sure, and sickening, watery sauce. I will NEVER EVER go back to that restaurant. We both literally felt like retching half way through. Then they absolutely REFUSED to compensate us! Alex went in to talk to them and left without getting a penny back. They were very rude to her. The only thing worse than the entrees is the service. Go 1 or 2 blocks up Siskiyou to House of Thai - much much better food for a little more $$.

I am from Petaluma CA but have been visiting my son and his mother in Ashland for many years. The food at the Golden Dynasty is very good. I don't know what happened to cause some of the reviewers dismay but we have enjoyed many, many meals here with many friends.

  • N E.

Definitely below average. Very heavy, fried food Chinese. All the sauces were the same base. The sesame chicken was a sweet red sauce with sesame seeds. The spicy pork was a sweet red sauce with crushed red pepper. Portions are very large, however. Good amount of food for the price. The meal also took a long time to get the food. Not an awful experience, but I will not return.

Some ppl's reviews on here are just mean! I had the #5 and my hubby had the #4. He wanted to substitute the shrimp for BBQ pork instead, they charged him $1 extra. It was good though. The egg flower soup was ok, it had a lot of corn and tasted like chicken noodle soup. The pork fried rice needed lots of soy sauce. My hubby hates mushrooms and broccoli and they were in his chicken chow mein. It had big pieces of chicken in it though. The sweet and sour pork was just ok, lots of batter. The mar far chicken was the same way my hubby said. That's the bad! Here is the good......! The shrimp egg roll, subgum chicken chow mein and fried shrimp was awesome! They had quick and attentive service, very personable and seemed to have regulars they were speaking to. There are a lot of college kids that come here. I now see why they are open til 9:30pm, convenient for them. The staff was all chinese except for one girl and very friendly. They have a nice saltwater fish tank up front and the booths and dining area are clean and look very nice! They also have restrooms unlike some chinese restaurants in Medford. There is plenty of parking since its next to Market of Choice and their shopping center. We have had Panda Garden in Ashland and can say their rice and mar far chicken was better, so Golden Dynasty is in 2nd Place as far as Ashland goes. Our favorite is Silver Dragon in Medford! ;) They are still better than every other place in Medford except Silver Dragon though!

been going here since i was a kid. it goes without saying, the rouge valley is not the best place for chinese food, that said. this is the best option, the reason that there are so many bad reviews, is that this place has changed ownerships about 3-5 times in the last ten years. the current owners are doing a much better job, leaps and bounds better than before, this is the only chinese food i eat in ashland. i give it a 7/10, theyd get an 8 if they delivered.

    (4)
  • Colin S.

Definitely the best Chinese food in the valley. I notice that several of the negative reviews were before the changes in management (this has happened several times in recent years), and I can tell you that today's Golden Dynasty is one of my favorite restaurants.

OMG the worst Chinese food ever. The portions of the greasy tastless mess were huge and cheap. We stayed across the street and ended up going to the very nice supermarket in the same shopping center several times over 5 days, each time I passed the place I got this sickening feeling. We did not eat our food and the lady kept saying, "it is good take it home. Why no take home? It is good." No it is not...eaaaak....

  • Lizzy B.

Truly awful food. The hot and sour soup tasted like watered-down ketchup. I could barely sip down a quarter of the tiny cup of soup. The fried rice, the safest of the foods, smelled like a filthy pet store and tasted even worse! I most certainly will not be dining here again.

    (1)

I tried to put no stars because this place was so bad, but it wouldn't let me. Absolutely the worst Chinese food ever. We ordered a bowl of hot and sour soup. It tasted like melted jelly. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp, which I often get because I love shrimp and I love the crunchy peppers and onions that comes with it. I got a plateful of fried shrimp with a dipping sauce of sweet and sour. No veggies at all! There were four of us in our party, and no one was happy with their food. Also, the server was nasty. Kept questioning us on what we were ordering. Maybe we should have listened to her!

  • James F.

Just wrong. Probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Chow mein is a bowl of wet sprouts with tiny bits of mystery meat. All fried foods have so much breading that you can't find the meat inside. Fried rice was cooked last week and reheated today. Waiting for the food poisoning to kick in. A very very sad night in the history of take out.

  • Mika M.

Very friendly service and reasonably priced food. The shrimp with broccoli was very tasty with a nice hint of ginger. I noticed some of the items on the menu were hit or miss. The soup was not so great and neither was the sweet and sour pork. My daughter and husband enjoyed the duck. They have a healthy options section of the menu too. Will definitely be coming back!!

Pros: the Kung Pao Chicken has excellent flavor and the vegetables are cooked just right, with tender-crisp zucchini. The Mongolian Beef has tender, flavorful meat and it is rare to encounter gristle or fat; the broccoli is also tender-crisp without being mushy and the flavor is good. The Lemon Chicken breading is crisp and the lemon sauce is like dessert. You get huge portions for the price; we always have enough leftover for another meal. When I ask for Medium Spicy I get sort of a 3 on a 1-10 scale with 10 being "burn your throat out, eyes and nose streaming" and 1 being no burn at all - I like that they err on the side of "don't kill the customer", but next time I will ask for a little hotter, more of a 4. Cons: their soups are very strange - the hot & sour is very thick and tastes sort of like ketchup and is not spicy at all; the egg flower soup has corn and is also very thick. I had never encountered thick versions of these soups in 10 years of eating at many excellent Chinese restaurants elsewhere. I never order the soups here. Order the Tom Yum Gai at "House of Thai" or Anya's if you want a good spicy Asian soup. We've probably eaten Golden Dynasty food about a dozen times over the past 3 years. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the place seems clean (we usually do take-out), and the price is right for a casual dinner. This might be a 3-star restaurant if it was being compared to Chinese restaurants in a larger city such as San Francisco or San Jose, but for Medford-Ashland, it's 4-star to us. We will probably eat there more often in the future.

Arrived into Ashland on a road trip to Portland, we found this in hurry. Ordered 2 dishes, one of them sweet and sour shrimp. They showed up and I thought they were flavorless and tough. After a while figured out they were sweet and sour chicken. All they offered was to adjust the price to the sweet and sour chicken price. Most restaurants would not have charged. Otherwise, food was ok.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
