This is a great place for Mexican food in Albany. The food is fantastic and the employees are friendly. As well as the restaurant well kept and clean with cheerful decor. We live close to this but never stopped in because most of the other Mexican restaurants near us are not good. But we wanted a change of pace tonight and had a pleasant surprise. We order fajitas and a combo meal. Both came out fresh, hot and with generous servings. And I had a iced tea with a lime instead of a lemon with it. Not only was this unique but tasty as well. We will be sure to visit more often. It might be off the beaten path for most but it is well worth getting a way from the main traffic areas for this great find.

My wife and I regularly eat here. The food is fantastic and the owners are friendly and professional. I would, and have, recommended this restaurant to several friends and family members without hesitation.

La Roca does not disappoint. Party of two enjoyed the complimentary chips, plate of beans, and the mild salsa. A carnitas torta, Mexican pizza, and table side guacamole completed our order. The pizza was crisp with beans, ground beef and cheese. So tasty I ate the whole thing. My husband enjoyed his torta and enhanced its deliciousness by adding a little guacamole to it. This was our second visit as we traveled through Albany, OR. Wish they were located in CA so we could visit more often. Hours are M-Sat 11-9; Sun 11-8

We have been coming here for a couple of months and love the food. They make the guacamole right at your table and all of the food has been excellent. We also love their salsa and the customer service has been very attentive. Today I ordered a veggie taco salad and it had a ton of veggies. This is definitely a place to try if you love mexican food. This place is unique.

It may not be the very best Mexican food I've ever had, but it's up there! I read an article that said that the restaurant is small and parking is insufficient, but neither of these descriptions entirely fit my experience. It is not a large restaurant, but there are plenty of tables and it is spacious. We were seated in the back area. A large-screen television was playing "Everybody Loves Raymond" re-runs and the volume was on softly enough that we could either talk or veg out and watch and be fine either way. The service was friendly, and my first impression (the chips and salsa) was VERY good. The chips were fresh and perfectly salted, and there were 3 dips available: a yummy bean dip, a chunkier salsa (the ingredients were fresh with just a hint of a kick) and a sweeter, darker, more pureed salsa. I have no idea what it was but it tasted wonderful. We ordered Margaritas, and they were HUGE, and pretty decent. I tend to be a bit picky about Margaritas, and dislike it when they taste sugary or grainy, but neither was the case here. For dinner, I ordered the 2-item combo, selecting 1 tamale and 1 chile relleno. The tamale was very good (I like it when they keep the sauce they put on top to a minimum, and that was the case here), and the chile relleno was good as well. (My first bite was a bit of a letdown, as I could not tell that it was the stem of the chile before I bit into it! But it was all good from there.) Good for my tastebuds but not so much my waistline: the entire plate was covered in plentiful, delicious cheese. MMMMMMMM! We will be back!

I read some of the other reviews. I did not get any kind of beans or three different sauces. Actually charged me for beans for my chips. Anything like that. Once again just the worst Mexican place I've ever been to. Another review that I read, mentioned that they were surprised that they are not much busier there? The reason for that is they just do not really supply the best food for a reasonable price. $1 for a handful of lettuce? On top of that attitude about it. Do yourself a favor and drive three quarters of a mile down the road and go to Rigoberto's.

This is the best Mexican food in town. They make everything from scratch, delivering hot tortilla chips with 3 kinds of salsa to your table as soon as you sit down. They also are super generous with restocking your chips if the table goes through them all. The entrees are reasonably priced, with huge portions and high quality. I usually get the fajitas, but the combination plates and burritos are probably the best deal. The place is very comfortable too, with friendly service. I don't know why they don't have more business.

My husband and I came here for just a appetizer. We are from an area in California where Mexican food reigns over all other types of food. I was excited to try this place but it doesn't seem like the Mexican food quality I'm use to. Although what we had didn't sample barely anything the restaurant had to offer and what we had was good, I'm not sure if I'll go back. For their tacos they only offer ground beef, shredded beef, and shredded chicken; I'm use to slices carne asada and grilled chicken. Also didn't see an option between red sauce or green. The manager was super friendly and we enjoyed that they make the guacamole right in front of you!

Delicious. Free beans...carne asada plate was on point...they made us some shrimps wrapped in bacon (not on menu)...but definitely magical.

This location opened up two weeks ago and all the others have pretty good reviews so my fiancee and I had to give it a try. We were the only ones in there at 8pm, but that just means better service right? I had three tacos that I thought were overpriced for $2.50 a piece. These were your standard taco truck/ meat market taco so I was surprised at the price. Anyway, the al pastor and chorizo ones were quite good. The carne asada, meh. Nothing really stood out at us on the menu and refilling the water took some time. Also, the salsa is of the roasted variety that gives you a slight charred taste. Some people like this, however I'm not a big fan. What is amazing though is their salsa verde. I got a big container to go. It was tasty, creamy, and just the perfect amount of picante. If anything, I'll be back to get the salsa verde. The people were quite nice just like at any other Mexican restaurant, and I will be back to try other menu items to update my review.

Today was the first time my wife and i tried la roca and we thought it was fantastic. Great service, and spectacular food. I think la roca will be our new favorite authentic mexican food restaurant.

The service here is lack luster. Every time I order a soda, I maybe get 1 refill before I leave simply because the guy doesn't come to my table more than once while I'm eating. This frustrates me because I don't want to pay $2.99 for a drink if I only get 2. Also takes a long time to get the check, and then you wait even longer for the guy (again) to come to the cash register for you to pay (can't pay at the table for some weird reason). The food is very authentic and you get a lot. Good lunch specials as well. Fix the drink issue and you've got 5 stars!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
