Stopped for burgers here before heading out of town on the Bolt bus. All the girls working were very friendly and it seemed to be a pretty busy spot. Next time I might have to try the 50/50 burger with half beef half bacon.

There aren't a lot of places that specialize in burgers any more aside from fast food. This place has a unique menu and cool atmosphere. We go here for lunch on occasion and it has always been great and consistent.

Good burger. Great burger, actually. I'd give them a 3.5, if I could, but I can't so I'm rounding down. Here's why: I love burgers and I especially love burgers that challenge my taste buds. So when I read the description of 'The Iron Woman', I knew it was meant for me. How can you go wrong with cheddar, pepperjack, potato chips, bacon, avocado, and cilantro? You go wrong when the cook applies just one leaf of cilantro and forgets the potato chips. These two components are what made the burger not just a bacon avocado burger. Unfortunately the burger was just that and instead of being 'wowed' I was just 'ehhd'. My old man ordered the fatty melt--a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. I assumed the title of this burger was a play on the 'patty melt' that we all know and love. When the burger arrived as just a dry patty placed between two seperate grilled cheeses, we were a tad surprised. There was nothing holding the sandwich together--nothing to indicate that this was a play on a patty melt. No garnish was offered either, and the waitress was surprised that we were surprised! This was listed under the regular burger section where all items were described as being served with all the fixin's. The fries. Double fried? Are they? I don't know. They were the same as all the home made fries that I'd ever had. Hmmm.... All in all, we liked the food. My only problem here is that if they want to offer 'crazy' burgers they better do it right. Forgetting ingrediants or serving them half-butted just won't cut it.

If you want a real hamburger, this is the place. I had the fifty/fifty, half burger and half bacon. Can't do that too often. My wife had the blu cheese burger with the grilled apples. Both excellent. Hand made onion rings are really excellent.

nice location. i'd go back. BUT they got my entire veggie burger order wrong. the toppings did not match at all. it was still good...but after talking with someone else, they also got their order wrong. WEIRD. anyway, party of 5, and our food was served quickly (20 minutes?) at 730pm. the place was pretty full. prices for burgers averaged about $10...which wasn't bad, since they have good quality burgers. their regular fries were above average. located in old town Albany...just off the main drag. plenty of free parking on the street. again, i'd go back...nice staff and atmosphere.

My wife and I ate lunch here the other day, and what a great establishment. The service was quick, and very done very well. The place was clean and new. I had the special that day and my wife had a cheese burger. The food was very very good and tasty. You can really tell they take pride in their service and food quality and boy did it shine through. Yes, we will be back for sure and would highly recommend this property to all my family and friends. Keep up the good work First Burger. :)

We came in right at evening opening and was welcomed warmly by staff. I had the Iron Woman which comes with a patty, avocado, bacon, cilantro, and two cheeses. The bacon was thick slices and absolutely divine. The burger was perfectly done, not overly or under, perfect. Our food came out fast and the wait staff was very attentive. Btw the root beer is really good. Taste more of the root! My partner had the Whole Farm. It was finished within 5 mins. Super satisfying with great service. Will definitely return.

I've been to First Burger a few times, and I've always been very happy. The burgers are great. The fries are delicious. The shakes (particularly the salted caramel) are tasty. I highly recommend the California burger with extra napkins. You'll need them. The staff is always friendly, and the food comes reasonably quickly. Great place to have in our little town!

They always have great burgers. While the inside is different. It is always an awesome experience. I tried there donut burger once, and as crazy as it sounds, it was great. They have one with an egg on it - good stuff

My sister and I each ordered the patty melt and oh my...... delicious! It's two grilled cheese sandwiches with a large beef patty in the middle of the two sandwiches. The combination of yummy cheese and special sauce they are absolutely delicious! Plus the nice pile of homemade fries on our plates was an added bonus. Will definitely eat there again. By the way the service was excellent.

Since my last review I've moved to the area, and have finally returned to First Burger. Tonight I had a special called the Lucy Juicy. When you first get it you think it might be the wrong burger because it literally is a no frills looking burger. Get a couple bites down and get to the middle where they've added an inside pocket of melted cheese and possibly small bits of heaven. Best burger I've had in a long time. Can't remember what my wife had but it was another special and she told me she liked it a lot. Prior to the burgers we got the Asparagus Fries which were a great treat. Also I have to add that the service was great. Friendly staff and came back several times to top off drinks and check in. And one little note, they serve Pepsi, not Coke. How cool is that?

Excellent service. Family-owned place. Being honest on their food and responsible for any mistakes they did. I recommend the chili burger since it's so tasty and of course with a side of sweet potato fries. Bottomline, the best burger I've ever had.

Mushroom Swiss burger is exceptional and the onion rings are the best in town. It's a great place to go, but check hours beforehand. They're closed sometimes when you'd think they'd be open.

TERRIFIC burgers, fries, milkshake (tasted heavenly, like whipped cream) and deep fried pickles!! Loved the food - but the service was SOOO SLOWWW... I'm willing to try it a few more times though in hopes that they'll pick up the pace - the food was just that good!

Update. Service was better. Burgers are pretty darned tasty, and I like that you can get ANY burger made with a boneless skinless chicken breast instead of beef. I did this, with the Blue Cheese, Bacon, Onion burger. Avocado Bacon burger is super tasty as well. They have a lot of unique burgers, one with cilantro and tortilla chips. Shakes are good, better than a a diner. The blue cheese wedge was better the second time, but again- not enough dressing. And I am not usually one for a lot of dressing. I will return when I want a good burger.

It did take what seemed to be forever for my burger to arrive, but it was tasty. Service seemed a little touch and go...I sat at the counter and had to finally approach the register to order. When my meal came it was boxed and bagged to go...subtle hint, perhaps? I asked for a plate and stayed.

OMG!!! This place ROCKS! They use local ingredients, good quality meat, and their combinations are inventive and delicious. I love that you can substitute chicken or veggie on any burger for free. They have REALLY good onion rings that are battered with crunched up corn flakes. They are especially good with their fry sauce; get the fry sauce! It's clearly homemade and has a unique and yummy flavor. The service is good... The only thing not to like about this place is that it's in Albany. (that was a joke... kind of.)

A-OK burgers here. The burgers were a little small. I had the 50-50 burger but frankly, it was kind of on the thin side. Lots of interesting variations of The Burger here, though, I'd come back to try some more if I didn't live 700 miles away. Good coffee.

This place was pretty legit. The food was very good and they waitress was VERY nice. Great, happy, fun personality. Interesting surroundings and kind of weird, older buliding with old farming tools on the walls that no one seemed to know why. They seemed to close kind of early... over all great food though. They fries AND the burger were very good. I would go back :)

Very good burger but not the best I have had. They have delicious specials and very good fries. Haven't had the milk shakes but I have heard they are very tasty.

Really good burgers. I had the Guacamole Bacon Burger. Burger was juicy and yummy, not dried out at all. Lots of guacamole which was made there. Nice and chunky, good avocado flavor and nice and green. No brown tinge from sitting out too long. Nice strips of crispy bacon adorned the patty. I was given the option of adding cheese, but on this rare occasion I declined it. I really liked the bun the burger came on. It was hearty and substantial without making my burger 75% bun and 25% meat. I opted for tater tots instead of fries because I can't pass up a good tater tot. Tots were good and crispy, straight out of the fryer. The burger comes with the usual round of accompaniments on the side (lettuce, tomato, pickles and red onion) letting you add what you want. My other half ordered the Smokestack Burger. That burger comes with ham, bacon, crispy onion straws and BBQ sauce. He went for the cheese option and got cheddar cheese. Juicy burger, lots of toppings, lots of sauce. He really enjoyed it. He substituted salad for fries/tots and it was a nice mix of greens and veggies. Standard Italian dressing, not offensive but nothing to write home about. Overall we enjoyed our burgers and plan on returning to First Burger next time we are in Albany.

I had a chili burger and churched it up with onion straws. It was served open-faced with a fistful of home-cut fries. And what I got was a burger. A really plain, rather unexceptional burger. The patty was a bit overdone and the chili totally lacked zazz. None. At All. No zazz. If I said I was taking a trip to Zazzland you'd know automatically I'm not going around here. Because of the no zazz thing. I liked the fries though.

The best place to get a burger in Albany, hands-down. Cool specials that change often enough to keep it interesting even for regular visitors. Some people complain that the milkshakes are a little small, but they're also a dollar cheaper than you'll find at most burger joints and honestly, you don't need a half gallon of milkshake to get through a burger. It's also got nice people working there; I've never had a problem with bad or even mediocre service. Just try to get there before the lunch rush hits or you might be waiting a while. It's also worth noting that even if they had horrible burgers and service that I would probably still rate them 3 stars based on their onion rings alone. Best onion rings I've ever had, no joke

This place once had, and I suppose still has, the potential for greatness. The burgers are (in theory) creative and made with meat from local farms. The staff is polite. And the restaurant has a nice "feel" to it. But alas....if only they could make me a burger without leaving off one or more ingredients. The last five times (and no, I am not exaggerating) I have ordered from this establishment (I generally get take out) the order has been missing something, be it parts of the salads, toppings on the burgers, the sauce, etc. I want to like this place, but the staff desperately needs to step up it's game. Perhaps they need to realize that they are not the "only game in town" and that many other places also serve burgers. I might try First Burger one more time...maybe.

We love it. Great onion rings and fried pickles! Great house made veggie burger (quinoa & black bean) and good beer choices. They also are super willing to accommodate your food to the exact way you want it.

This has to be one of the best burgers I have ever had! It was soft, if that is okay to describe a burger! It was juicy and not tuff at all. Great toppings. I had the chocolate milkshake and tots as well! So good! And totally normal prices. My fiance had a root beer as well and it was great too. Great service, very nice! Will be back again!

My husband and i came here this last Friday around 6 pm.there was nobody waiting for a table But there seemed to be confusion between the wait staff as too who needed to clean our table and who would sit us.when it WAS time the hostess didn't say "follow me" it was just implied we should follow ? Or actual waitress was knowledgeable and upbeat. The food was ok greatly in need of seasoning.the milk shake was ok....i had the WORSE stomachache the next day. Husband would like to return but for the price i would rather stick to Hasty freeze and Dexter at home!

It's great to see a new local restaurant in the Albany area, and I love that they use fresh, local ingredients. The sign on the window promises a great burger, and it was a good burger, but it didn't wow me. I came for lunch with my mom - she ordered the Hottie burger (jalapenos, chipotle sauce and pepperjack cheese) and I ordered the Iron Woman, partly because you can't go wrong with the name (pepperjack, cheddar, cilantro, avocado, bacon & potato chips). Potato chips on a burger?! I'm in love. I also ordered the chai shake, and we split everything. I'll give them credit for the inventive burger/toppings combinations! The food arrives - the service was great - and I sink my teeth into the first bite of the Hottie. First impression? It's a wee bit overcooked, but it's still tasty, and has a nice spicy kick at the end. I was disappointed that each burger comes topped with their overpowering "burger sauce". The sauce is ketchup, mayo and mustard seed - I asked. It's the same flavor as the spread McMenamins uses - and I really don't like it. The mustard seed is very pronounced, and took away from the overall flavor of the burger for me, instead of adding to it. It's definitely not needed when you've got so many other amazing flavors happening. I did enjoy the Iron Woman, the potato chips gave it a nice crunch. The chai shake was good and was a great size, but the flavor wasn't as strong as I was expecting. With a little more ooomph, it would have been rockin'. I love supporting local businesses with a great mission, so I'd definitely come back and give them another try.

I am giving this place four stars because my boyfriend said that his burger had no flavor to it. Mine, however was delicious. I got the burger that is spicy... I don't remember what the name of it was, but it was super delish. Everything is organic, hormone free status and they have an abundance of options for your taste buds. I definitely recommend grabbing a burger here.

An attempt at a more upscale burger-joint...just give me a decent burger at a fair price, please. Burger was average at best; service the same. Expected better given the look and location. Parking not real good (as is true in most of downtown Albany). Burger -ville is a better choice and less money.

I had lunch with Jonathan Woo, who reviewed this restaurant first on Yelp. We ate together, and I'm so slow - I'm just now getting around to Yelping about this one. This little place is located down on 2nd street in the old-town part of Albany. It is reportedly owned by the same folks who have Clemenza's and Sybaris - It has a similar emphasis on good, locally produced food with a modern flair. I had heard about it from friends - so talked Jon and his family into having lunch with us. We didn't really have too many expectations, except that it had burgers. Its hard to mess up a burger, right? Its a small place - maybe 8-10 tables. Nice decor, kind of industrial chíc. Concrete floors, tall ceilings painted with vibrant colors, and canvas prints of what is presumably local farm produce. The prices are surprisingly good. Not as cheap as getting a Happy Meal, but not bad. Definitely good for the quality of the food - even maybe a Deal when that is taken into consideration. Jon and my husband both had the Smokehouse burger. I had a bite. It was heavenly. I didn't regret my order tho! For 7.95 I had a bacon buffalo burger with sweet potato fries. When I got my burger, I was disappointed - they'd forgotten my bacon! I called the waitress over, and she reassured me - they had ground the bacon into the buffalo. Is that weird? I thought it was, until I had a a bite. Holy Moly! If only more bacon burgers did this - All the bacon deliciousness, without the trouble of stringy bacon or accidentally getting the whole piece in one bite. My husband had a chocolate milkshake. He said it was good, but almost too thick. It was almost like getting a cup of ice cream instead of a shake. We'll definitely be going back. Everyone loves a good burger, and this one makes a burger respectable. :)

Delicious! I'm always looking for places like they visit on that show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" - out of the ordinary, homemade, special food - and finally found one. Maybe we should start a write in campaign! Anyway, my burger was fresh, juicy and fabulous, and you must try the onion rings. Wow!

Big ups for the chicken breast. Not dry, perfectly cooked. Bigger ups for the option to sub tater tots or sweet potato fries for the regular french fry option (which come without gluten). Monster ups for a ridiculously tasty sandwich with swiss cheese and bacon. Deduction in props for charging $2 to share your first burger with your first friend. All in all a nice spot to post up and stuff your burger hole.

I'm goiving First Burger 4 stars because they use local products and because their service is top notch. I also like the sit-down vibe, the real dishes (as opposed to burger joints where everything is wrapped up in paper and plastic). Prices were perfect. My husband LOVED the sweet potato fries. He said they were the best he'd ever had. The regular fries were very good also. He loved his burger. I had the one with blue cheese and grilled onions, subbing chicken instead of beef. It was tasty, although I found the chicken to be a little too salty. I couldn't eat the last few bites because of this (but my guy didn't mind since he benefitted). While the buns were fresh, it would be nice to offer whole wheat as an option. Personally, I think the white ones turn to glue as you try to eat, and since First Burger uses Franz as a supplier it would be nothing to keep a bag or two of ww available for those of us who enjoy the heartier flavor! The kids meals were an excellent value, and I LOVE the fact that they can get milk or juice...no soda. Awesome. My kids loved having Jello, but let me just say one thing on that account.... Jello is not "homemade." Anything that comes out of a box and is mixed with water is not homemade (they claim this on their menu). Homemade would be fruit juice and gelatin (but that would cost them more to make). Just sayin'! My son loved his kiddie burger, although it was a little small for him. Good thing his teeny sister only eats one chicken strip (he got the others). Their chicken strips are made from scratch. Major kudos for this, even if they're still fried. Ours were a tad overdone...a little too long in the fryer, but I felt better giving them to my kids (and only ordered them) because they weren't chicken nuggets from a box. The only thing that would have made me even happier with the kids' meals would have been to replace a few of the fries with some carrot or celery sticks...or something like that so there was some semblance of "green." But as a treat it was good quality and a good value. We don't EVER eat fast food anymore, and are very selective of the restaurants we do visit. I would rather support First Burger than Burgerville, and we all agreed we would go back if/when we're in the area again. It's nice to have an "acceptable" burger joint to eat at!

Our burgers were cooked perfectly, and were perfectly delicious. Sweet potato fries and tater tots were light and crisp, cooked to perfection. Lemonade was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. This was the second time we'd eaten there, and both times we enjoyed our meal tremendously.

Oh yeah! Much like the other offerings from Restaurants on First, First Burger is simply excellent. I think I've been three times now with my last visit consisting of the Smokehouse Burger with sweet potato fries (don't miss these, they are my current food obsession). Crystal and the rest of the staff are always excellent, the food is always done right, it's down the street from work and you can easily get in and out in an hour for lunch. Can't say enough about them!

First Burger defines delicious food that is fresh and local. We went to try it out today with some friends who had heard about it opening up just last month. The first thing to note is the decor. It's very modern, but the decor highlights their effort to stay local with a variety of canvases hanging depicting what I assume are pictures from local farms. I'm not an interior decorator or anything, but it looked certainly different than any other burger joint I've ever been in. The atmosphere is very family friendly, despite the modern look. We had our 2 year old son, and several other tables also had young children, who were treated as welcome guests just like the rest of us. The menu is pretty well priced, and there is a great variety to choose from. Their burgers range from a standard 1/3lb burger with all the fixings and fries for $7. Their most expensive double burgers are about $12. You can add bacon, onion straws, or kick it up a notch with some chipolte. You can also substitute sweet potato or onion ring for a buck more. Despite being all fresh and local, they manage to keep these prices that are only slightly more than the chain places, and about on par with any regular burger joint I've been to. The taste, however, blows any other burger place I've been to out of the water. The burger I had was the Smokestack, which consisted of a patty layered with ham, bacon, onion straws and barbeque sauce. The patty itself was well seasoned, and the barbeque sauce complimented it phenomenally. Together, it melded into a perfect harmony of burgertastic goodness The fries were clearly fresh cut and delicious. My wife got the sweet potato fries, and they were excellent as well. The portions were well sized, and left everyone full and satisfied. Overall, a great new modern looking burger place that's family friendly, with high class food and a price tag that won't break the bank.

I went at lunch on a work day with about half dozen co-workers. I ordered "The Hottie" and substituted sweet potato fries for standard potato fries. The Hottie has fine minced jalapeños and a chipotle sauce; but they also put their house burger sauce, which is sweet. Despite using pepper jack cheese, this burger isn't spicy ( if you're a spicy-food eater). The highlight of the meal was the sweet potato fries. They were slightly crisp, not at all greasy, vibrantly colored & actually retained sweet potato flavor, yum! I would definitely return, though if trying to converse in a group the acoustics are kind of a nightmare. I actually felt bad for the wait staff and wondered if they'd like ear plugs.

Well, we finally got around to trying First burger. We were not disappointed! I had the mushroom burger, my husband had the first burger, and our son had the chicken strips. I tried the sweet potato fries, The man got the corn flake crusted onion rings, and the child got fries. The sweet potato fries were a bit overdone for my taste, the onion rings were GREAT! The regular fries were very good. The burgers were done well, and boy were they tasty. My only feedback was that the texture of them was too soft. I LOVE that they grind their own meat and that it's locally sourced and grass fed. We did not love the texture, not bad, just soft and different. They fell apart very easily. I am loving that they have FRITO PIE for an appetizer! How southern of them! We'll try that the next time we go. #Corvsmb

This is a great burger place. Consistently good food and service, nice place. I can't vouch for some of the more exotic burgers they have since I have only had the basic burger. Regular cheese burger with a generous amount of tots and med drink = $11.25. Highly recommend.

I love you, First Burger. And in an area FULL of burger options, that says a lot. Sweet potato fries are the best. Often busy, but that means staying in business, so YIPPEE for busy.

Okay, so first off, I am only a visitor to Albany. My boyfriend moved here a year ago, and when I come to visit, we enjoy finding a good eat somewhere. We only first tried First Burger a little over a month ago, but went back again tonight. Two very successful dinners. The first time we didn't realize the closing time, and we arrived probably about 30 minutes before closing. They were still very polite, served us, and had time to come over and chat with us. So, the food. I am a bit of a burger snob, as I'm from Bend and we have well-known burger places like Bend Burger Co. and Pilot Butte Drive-In. This lived up to expectations. I was simple and got a bacon cheeseburger with the works., along with a Calapooia root beer and fries. So tasty, and may I say it was a steaming hot burger- like there was visual steam seeping out from the patty. Any who, super delicious. The other two guests with me, two very hungry guys, were satisfied with the food too. There were a lot of customers in the restaurant, but there was plenty of customer service on our table back by the kitchen. As for tonight, it wasn't packed, but there was good turnover. I had to reorder my original order because out of pure deliciousness. My boyfriend ordered the Juicy Lucy special. We sat and waited for our food for close to 25-30 minutes. My boyfriend complained to me, but not to the waiter. Our waiter was nice enough, probably 20 minutes in, to come over and tell us that it was close to done. When our food finally arrived, it was so good, and steaming hot. We were seated right by the POS system and counter, so there was a point when our waiter was speaking to a coworker and then turned to us to apologize because the cooks were going very slow tonight. Overall, I would come back to the place just about every time I'm here. Not only is the food good, but the staff remembered us and it is really just a nice environment. Not to fast paced or anything. Highly recommended from a self-professed "burger snob."

Great service and good burgers! Even the fries were delicious. Now, they didn't asked how I wanted my burger cooked, which most specialty burger joints I've been to have, but it was still juicy even well done. They have a great local beer selection too, or so says my boyfriend. But I guess most places here in Oregon do :P Would definitely return here for my burger fix!

I just went in to place to go order. I've been in the restaurant industry for 20 years, and I owned my own restaurant in Arizona. I have never ever ever heard anyone turn away a to go order saying that they no longer taking to gos because they are too busy. You never turn away service no matter what. They should be ashamed of themselves especially because I'm a paying customer who was coming in there often. I will no longer go here again. I don't do well with bad business

Sue and I were heading down to Cottage Grove for the holiday weekend and while on the road we both started getting cravings for milkshakes. That ended up morphing into cravings for burgers. It is a natural progression afterall. I was driving so Sue ended up doing some Yelp-vestigating (my new word) and that is how we ended up at First Burger in Albany. I judge a good burger on how juicy it is and how difficult it is to eat while making a complete mess. Sue judges her burger on how neatly she can eat it. We both won out. We both started out with chocolate milkshakes ($4.25 each) as that is what we first started thinking about. The milkshakes come in small glasses, but they give you the rest in the metal container straight from the maker. We ended up taking the extra with us in to go cups. For my burger choice I had The Hottie ($8.75). Pickled jalapenos, chipotle sauce and pepperjack cheese along with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions. I opted out of the special sauce as it is mayo based. The burger was not spicy even in the slightest. Someone out there might disagree. It was cooked to a medium rare even though I wasn't offered a choice. I love medium rare so I was quite happy. The bun did not last too long before disintegrating into a mess. It is a good thing I don't embarrass easily as this was a messy burger. Service was friendly. Restaurant was very clean. There were only 2 people eating when we entered, but the place was pretty well packed when we left. Looks like Albany has a good burger joint. I'm sure we will be back again.

Top rate burger joint in historical center of Albany, worth a detour from I-5, even though you have to go through multiple blocks of Carl's Jr, Taco Bells and the like. Friendly, prompt service, individually done orders, huge portions, the best shake I've had (ever), fries from real potatoes with real skin, great list of draft and bottled brews ($5.75 for 22oz bottles). Burgers with fries and lettuce, pickles, tomato on the side: $8.50-10.50.

Best burger we've had in a long time We went out on a limb and tried the new @ Elvis burger. This burger had bacon, peanut butter and bananas. Weird you say!! Yes , but this was the most amazing tasting burger. I shared it with my son and wished I'd have gotten my own. The fried pickles were to die for too!!

First Burger serves some pretty solid burgers within the Albany area. The patty itself wasn't dry, but wasn't as juicy as I would have liked it to be. I went with the Iron Woman as it seemed somewhat unique without being too far out there. While I've had better burgers, as I am a burger fiend, this one was solid satisfaction. My favorite part was the bacon. The bacon was perfectly crispy and not too thin. They were generous with the cheese as well. It wasn't one of the best I've had, and not within top ten, but it was overall a good burger and I recommend trying it. If I come back, I will probably go for something more unique or perhaps one of their specials.

Found First Burger on Yelp, seemed like a neat place to get a good burger. There space isn't really big but they make do. It kind of seems more like a fine restaurant than a burger place. We were seated and the waitress took our drink order after tell us about the specials. I had the Juicy Lucy with buffalo meat topped with bacon, inside was cheese and bacon. My wife had the 50/50 (half bacon/half beef) burger; we both had the tater tots as a side. You can pick your topping so I had lettuce and pickles. We got our food, took a little while but they are fresh burger and the Juicy Lucy take more time to cook. The first thing I saw was a sauce on the burger. I asked the waitress and she said it was the burger sauce, looked like fry sauce. Wasn't on the menu, just comes on burgers. We didn't like it so we wiped it off. Juicy Lucy with buffalo meat burger was amazing. You would taste the buffalo which is lean and the bacon. The cheese came flowing out when I took a bite. I was in burger bliss. Had a bit of my wife 50/50 and it was amazing too. Bacon and beef in every bite, you could smell the bacon. I knocked my drink over onto the floor; they clean it up and brought me another drink. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Overall watch out for burger sauce (ask for it on the side), had a great time. I will be coming back next time I'm in town.

It's been a long time since I found a burger joint that truly blew me away. I walked in, and there was a friendly waitress waiting that greeted me and my guest and got us seated, gave us menus, and got us some water in under 60 seconds. Our waiter, Eric, was there to greet us and take our orders in another minute. He also told us about the unlisted deals of the day right off the bat. After ordering, our burgers took about 5-10 minutes to arrive. The food is insane. Our burger patties were pressed and cooked in-house, the fries were cut from potato and fried in-house, and they served enough of each that we couldn't finish it! Their sauces were top-notch, and their drinks were great. Even paying took under two minutes when I had called for the bill. There is literally nothing wrong with this great establishment. Don't think it doesn't have it's drawbacks, though. The entire floor is 20ftX50ft, so your out of luck if you want to cram am entire football team in here. And they don't beat around the bush: they serve burgers. No chicken strips or other entrées here. But it's totally worth it.

I am giving this place four stars because my boyfriend said that his burger had no flavor to it. Mine, however was delicious. I got the burger that is spicy... I don't remember what the name of it was, but it was super delish. Everything is organic, hormone free status and they have an abundance of options for your taste buds. I definitely recommend grabbing a burger here.

  • I E.

An attempt at a more upscale burger-joint...just give me a decent burger at a fair price, please. Burger was average at best; service the same. Expected better given the look and location. Parking not real good (as is true in most of downtown Albany). Burger -ville is a better choice and less money.

Stopped for burgers here before heading out of town on the Bolt bus. All the girls working were very friendly and it seemed to be a pretty busy spot. Next time I might have to try the 50/50 burger with half beef half bacon.

There aren't a lot of places that specialize in burgers any more aside from fast food. This place has a unique menu and cool atmosphere. We go here for lunch on occasion and it has always been great and consistent.

(that was a joke... kind of.)

  • Kyle R.

nice location. i'd go back.

Excellent service. Family-owned place. Being honest on their food and responsible for any mistakes they did. I recommend the chili burger since it's so tasty and of course with a side of sweet potato fries. Bottomline, the best burger I've ever had.

Wow!

I'm so thrilled to find good restaurants popping up all over downtown Albany and First Burger is even more than good. To be honest, I didn't have astronomical expectations for the place, I mean, c'mon, a hamburger's a hamburger, right? Well, you might think that if you've only ever been to the 'rouge bird' hamburger chain (which, I admit, I've been to quite a few times and don't find repulsive). But the burgers at First Burger are excellent! Juicy and flavorful, cooked just right and they don't try to overdo it by dumping on the salt or spices. I'd love to see beer on tap -- I can't bring myself to pay $3 for a bottle of beer I could get at Safeway -- and while our server didn't do anything wrong, I guess I expected a little more than take your order, bring your food without saying much else, based on the caliber of food and attention to the overall look and feel of the restaurant (maybe we just got someone on a slightly off night). Overall a great restaurant that I'd be happy to find in downtown Portland much less downtown Albany!

I love First Burger!! I've been there 3 times so far. I had a pepper jack cheeseburger the first time and the last 2 times I had their own version of a veggie burger-it's delicious!!! They also have great beer choices-last time I got the apricot ale from some California brewery. It was delicious and came in a tall, ice cold bottle! love it The only suggestion that I have for them is to just give up on the side salad-it's more like a slab of lettuce with some dressing on it and it costs $1 more to substitute it in place of fries.

Been here three times now and it is a-ok. I like the the Whole Farm which has egg and ham on the burger. The sweet potatoe fries are the way to go too since I am not a fan of the semi limp regular fries. That is just me. Because of the fries and the "heart attack", I forget the real name...it is two grilled cheeses with a burger in the middle, I graded a bit low for this place. The grilled cheese burger had no sauce and no fixings to accompany it...so, it was just super plane. It might work if you have a super hungry (1000+ calories) child, but it just did not move me and I was unimpressed... Otherwise it is super clean and pretty good. Service is good. I go back periodically because I just want a good burger. They have local beef which is nice to see.

My family and I really like First Burger. We have been several times now and have always been happy. I work a couple of doors down, so I have been a couple more times than the family, hehe. The local food is a nice touch. However, even if you don't care about that, the food is great. I agree that beer on tap needs to be added. There are plenty of local beer options in keeping with the theme.

Delicious! I'm always looking for places like they visit on that show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" - out of the ordinary, homemade, special food - and finally found one.

Great food, great prices. Their selection of burgers will leave you with almost too many choices!!! Always friendly service! Will go back when I'm in town!

MMM!! I love the burgers. The meat is juicy and yummy. I'd go here everyday if I could.

I love you, First Burger. And in an area FULL of burger options, that says a lot. Sweet potato fries are the best. Often busy, but that means staying in business, so YIPPEE for busy.

Amazing burgers! The fatty was super good! Staff is always very friendly as well. We asked for cheddar cheese for the chilled cheese sandwich part and it was delicious! I also love the fried pickles, we get them every time.

(that was a joke... kind of.)
