We had the shrimp chow mien tonight, and the salt and pepper prawns, both are super delicious!

On rare occasion do I have a need to physically remove food from my stomach, but the meal that my wife and I picked up from here left both of us with horrible stomach pain. It was terrible. Absolutely terrible. We ordered 3 main dishes, soup, and an appetizer.

My husband and I stopped here for an early dinner. We were excited to try K-1 after having read the favorable reviews. In past visits to Corvallis, we had not found a Chinese restaurant that we liked...until now. We ordered the House Lo Mein which had shrimp, beef and chicken in it and tasted great. The other dish we got was the Black Peppered Beef, which was our favorite. It was seasoned so well and the beef was very tender. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The service was amazing and the food arrived quickly. We will definitely be coming here more often to try some of their other tasty dishes.

4 stars cleanliness but 1 star for the waiter who kept dropping our food and plates and everything else he brought onto our table with a loud bang- crazy! Even the silverware. 1 star for the crab puffs (crab Rangoon) who's wrappers were think and hard 1 star for the egg drop soup that was thick and yellow 3 stars for the hot and sour soup and the walnut prawns- they were ok but nothing special. 1 star for the potstickers (with weird wrappers and not very good sauce) and 1/2 a star each for the cashew chicken and fortune cookies. This food was like the industrial Sysco foods version of what mass food thinks Americans think Chinese food is like. I would go to Pings (which isn't terrible) in a heartbeat over this place- never again if I can help it. Staff was friendly and they refilled water frequently- that's about the best I can say.

I had the takeout honey walnut shrimp and #3 dinner combo, which includes little portions of subgum chow mein, orange chicken, spring roll and pork fried rice. I enjoyed the honey walnut shrimp, although it was a little watery. The orange chicken is real chicken ( not panda styled orange chicken). The fried rice was decent, it was salty in some area. The subgum chow mein, don't really know what that was, it was a lot of celery and some chicken. The one spring roll was just okay, I took one bite.

Food was good, nice & hot! Service was not so good-waiter stood at counter talking about guns, then went outside to look at someone's new car!! Had to ask for more ice tea & mustard !!!

Had a very yummy sauce and the tofu was cooked well. Service here is great and the people here are nice and welcoming

Fresh and delicious, extremely clean place and warm kind staff. Such a find in Albany. Have loved everything. Drive from Portland to take mom out for Chinese! Thanks K-1!

Great place for Chinese in Albany. They have a very nice selection of food and they are pretty good quality/quantity for what you pay for. I highly recommend their combinations, and the sweet and sour chicken/pork. They also have good shrimp dishes, such as the honey walnut shrimp (one of few places that offer it). Overall it was good experience, both to dine or take out.

Great Chinese food for the price. Classic Chinese food menu. We tried a bunch of different plates and they were all great!

I liked how the chicken meat seemed to be all white meat. The atmosphere was so so but the food was pretty good.

Ate here today for the 1st time based on reviews. I got the orange chicken, fried shrimp, pork fried rice, Mongolian beef combo. The orange chicken was excellent. The Mongolian beef was the most tender I've ever had. It had just a hint of heat. I don't usually order beef dishes at Chinese places cause it's usually tough, but this was very good. Fried shrimp was crispy and delicious, and pork fried rice had a nice amount of bbq pork and was tasty. Our main complaint was that the soy sauce on the table was very watery and had an off taste. I don't know if it was light soy sauce or what, cause I've never used it before, but it was watery and didn't taste good at all. Next time I will ask for some regular soy sauce, and some sriracha to spice things up a little. The only dipping sauces offered were some sweet and sour and a dumpling sauce for my girlfriend's pot stickers. I needed something more for the fried shrimp. She had cashew chicken (kinda bland), sweet and sour chicken, pot stickers and fried rice. What I tried of her sweet and sour chicken was excellent, but she said a few pieces were stringy, which usually means old. Service was quick and good. Overall some of the best Chinese we've had around here, and we will try it again, with some regular soy sauce and some heat.

Overall really good food for a reasonable price. We had the crab puffs, general tso's and pork lo mein. Easy online ordering and prompt delivery. Only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is the "spicy" general tso's wasn't as spicy as we had hoped. This will definitely be our go-to for Chinese delivery!

Love this place. Everything I've had has been great. I usually just order a combination special every time I'm there (which has been about 10 times)!

I think my last review was a little harsh. Yes this place has some inconsistencies that need to be addressed as well as some cut corners, but certain dishes are damn good. I brought my father here for dinner and he absolutely raved about it. He has eaten his share of Chinese food all over the country, and if he is happy, then I am as well. We had salt and pepper prawns and shrimp, and both were cooked perfectly. Also, the lo mein is still excellent. Yes, we don't venture far from trying other dishes cause we have had bad experiences, but these dishes are done really well. The service was somewhat lacking, but the dishes we love are always great. I also had a chat with the owner at one of his other restaurants and he had seen my review and was concerned about making dishes the way customers want them and improving. For that, I will upgrade it to four stars and keep the owner informed and my raves and rants.

Delicious new Chinese restaurant in North Albany. We've been impressed with the quality and flavor of everything we've tried so far. By far the best Albany has to offer, and cheap to boot!

This is my second time here this week. The first time I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch combo. It was good, but a little spicy for me. I should have asked for it mild. I really enjoyed the hot and sour soup, and the fried shrimp tasted fresh, not frozen. I returned for lunch today and requested to order from the full menu, and not the lunch menu. Again great hot and sour soup. I ordered the prawns with honey glazed walnuts. The prawns are definitely made fresh, not frozen. They were plump and tasty, not overlooked and rubbery like you so often find. The only thing I didn't care for was the hot tea, but that is just a personal preference. I am not a green tea fan, and prefer jasmine tea. I need to come back with friends sometime soon.

I have worked at a good Chinese restaurant before & tonight I ordered the House Chow Fun (one of my favs) & it was pretty delicious. The service was pretty good, there was a new person who initially took our order. My bf ordered a dinner combo w/ Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice, BBQ Pork & Fried Shrimp, he said his was pretty good too. The place seems to be busy & I would probably come back to try other menu items. Overall good experience.

I absolutely love this place. The staff is so nice. I think we must order take out at least once a week! I'm addicted. ;)

I gave them three stars despite the fact that I didn't care much for most of the food because the ingredients were fresh, service was friendly, and the place was clean. I just didn't like their sauces in the orange chicken or Mongolian beef. I was the only one of four people at the table who didn't enjoy their food. I'd give them another chance and try something else.

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place! We first gave this cute restaurant a try on Valentine's day, when it was very busy. We had to wait quite a while for our order after it was called in, but the food was so delicious we HAD to give it another try. We have since had more luck when dining in, so that's what we would suggest doing. The employees are very polite and pleasant. The Lo Mein is absolutely amazing and we get it every time. K-1 is one of our favorite spots, and we'd recommend it to anyone :)

The best Chinese food in town! I find most of the Chinese food available in Albany to be middle-of-the-road to terrible. My standards might be a bit skewed, because I waitressed for 7 years at a truly great restaurant, Wah Lee's, which has been gone for many years now. I keep hoping to find the unique combination they had of great food that offers both Americanized and more traditional fair, but so far I have been disappointed. K-1 has several solid things going for it: ~ they are run by the same family that own the sushi place next door, Momiji's, which has great food and service. ~ they don't use MSG in their food, save for a very small amount in some of their meat tenderizing. ~ ingredients are fresh, and seem to be cooked with very light oil (unlike some other places) ~ their menu offers some truly unique dishes that set it apart from other Chinese restaurants. The meals I have had have been very, very good - Beef with scallions, Beef w/black pepper sauce, the kung pao chicken, fried shrimp, salt & pepper shrimp. The hot & sour soup is regrettably a little bland. I added just a hint of soy sauce, and this improved it. More vinegar would improve it even more, but this is a small complaint. When this restaurant first opened, there were some things I had reservations about, from putting peas in the fried rice, to the lack of combination plates, to the service, but thankfully every single one of my complaints has been addressed, and the restaurant is now a solid good meal every time we eat there (and now offers dinner combinations). Another huge plus - they deliver! If you're on the fence about this place, don't be. It's a great meal, at really reasonable prices.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
