I was on a rappelling trip one weekend near Lawton with a small group of friends and they decided to come here, touting it as the "best burgers ever", etc. I shrugged and thought, "what the hell". Awesome place that captures the rustic & quaint aspects of Oklahoma's cowboy culture. All I remember from my meal is delicious, freshly squeezed lemonade served in a mason jar and the biggest, juiciest most delicious burger I've ever had! I have a lot of Okie pride when I think of this place :-)

Wasn't impressed. Heard about how awesome the burgers were. Meh. Not bad at all but not as hyped as I was led to believe.

Regardless of where you live, this place is worth the drive. There's nothing, and I mean, NOTHING to draw you to Meers OK, except this restaurant. Located literally in the middle of nowhere, you'll find this place, and the parking lot is surprisingly full, yet once you sample the food, you'll understand why people continue to drive out of the way, for some excellent Cowboy Worthy Vittles. The inside is anything but modern, and adds the perfect, thoughtful charm to the food. Lemonade is served in large mason jars, and hits the absolute spot on a hot summer day. I'd tell you to steer clear of the "Something Else" appetizer, but only so I could greedily eat your share. Get them, the marinated fried beef is served with a ranch dipping sauce, and were gone so quickly we actually ordered another one. We ordered from the heart of the menu...Meers Burger(1/2 pound of real ground beef), BBQ Sandwiches(hearty chunks of crusted brisket) and a Slaw Dog (Solid Frankfurter loaded with chili, cheese, red onions and mustard based slaw). Served on Cowboy tin plates, there's not a single thing we didn't enjoy. The end of the perfect meal, was a perfect dessert suggestion of cherry cobbler, which a single serving was big enough for our party of four to share. Get it with their homemade vanilla ice cream, they'll pile it on! The whole meal was simply fabulous. Four drinks, two appetizers, four entrees, some extra fries and a dessert cost an extremely reasonable $60(including tip). The food is simple, but fresh and masterfully prepared. It's not really convenient to drive there, as the Meers Restaurant is a minimum of 20 minutes from ANYWHERE, but after just one visit, you'll understand why Patrons continue to go off the beaten path and eat here, time and time again. CHEERS.

After an afteroon of venturing the mall my husband, some friends, and I became a bit famished. One of my friends mentioned Meer's & how their longhorn burgers are THE BEST. I was surprised and a bit shocked to find out that they were open & yes busy on a Sunday. After waiting in line for about 5 minutes we were seated. The indoors are a bit antiquated, but it suits the restaurant well. I ordered a lemonade (which is homemade) & a chili cheese dog with spicy fries. The spicy fries were just potato wedges so I was a little disappointed with that & the chili dog was eh. My husband did order a burger & honestly I don't know where the hype came from. It tasted rather ordinary to me. All in all it was an ok experience. With gas being so pricy I'm not so certain that I'd visit Meer's anytime soon.

I can't believe all the hype surrounding this restaurant. I'm wondering if the reviewers claiming this is the "best burger ever", have ever had a decent burger. Our table split a cheese Meersburger - it wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't anything special. Just an ordinary cafe burger. We also ordered the cheese fries, which were covered in some type of jarred cheese sauce (Cheese Whiz?); they were inedible. The peach cobbler and homemade ice cream were very good. I doubt I'll return.

I will repeat what one person said...go here for the experience and to say you've been. My husband and I shared the cheeseburger. It was a VERY thin patty of meat on a bun with a veges. It was just a burger nothing special. Luckily we didn't go for the fries because they might be my least favorite fries ever. They appeared to be understaffed as it took 20 minutes to get a drink. I do not discourage you from going, go check it out but don't be disappointed when you walk away thinking...what just happened!

I was stationed at Fort Sill back in 2001-2003 and Meers was one of my favorite places to take out of town visitors (along with the amazing wildlife refuge). Like most, I liked the burgers and felt *meh* about the rest (fries, service, etc). But to this day, I still think about their peach or cherry cobbler with ice cream. Correction. I yearn for their peach or cherry cobbler and ice cream. The cobbler is worth the sometimes one or two hour wait, and the perpetual fear that there may be asbestos falling from the ceiling into your food. (the pictures do look a bit different, so perhaps they've renovated a bit). Go hungry and leave room for dessert!

Pretty decent burger! I like supporting a place that has its own herd of cattle! The meat is ground in-house and you can tell that the beef is good quality. Probably the best burger in the area.

The ONLY place to eat after a weekend of climbing in the Wichita Mountains. It sucks waiting in line during the summer, but still totally worth it. The Seismic burger and the brisket are amazing. Those are actually the only two things I've had, never needed to try anything else. For desserts, the peach cobbler is the best I've ever had and the beer float is worth trying too - sounds gross, tastes great.

Undoubtedly one of the best burgers in America, I often find myself craving a Meers burger. When I went there, we started with an appetizer of the fried peaches which was out of this world. This was more of a dessert than an app, but still delicious. Slices of fried peaches topped with powdered sugar with a side of cream dipping sauce were truly amazing. For the main meal, I ordered Meersburger, of course, because I didn't want to be considered a "Sissy" or a "Yank," as the menu indicates I would be if I changed the toppings. This burger was far from disappointing and was quite a hefty portion. My only regret is not ordering the Seismic Meersburger which is overflowing on its plate and is decked with cheese, bacon, jalapenos, relish, lettuce and tomatoes. The regular Meersburgers are just topped with mustard, pickles, tomatoes, purple onions, and lettuce. To pair with our burgers, we also ordered the Meers Gold Beer which complemented the meal quite well. Although not brewed locally, it comes from a brewery a few hours east in Oklahoma. It's also served in a large 22oz bottle to ensure that you have enough beer to wash down your burger. Outside of the food, the atmosphere is also great, but starts lining up pretty early. At 4:30PM, we were already in the dinner line. Thankfully we only had to wait about 20-30 minutes, but as the night goes on, the wait time dramatically increases. It isn't uncommon to have a wait time of over an hour at traditional dinner times. Also be warned that this bar is cash only, and to my knowledge, there is no ATM in the restaurant. Thankfully, this restaurant is relatively cheap with the Meerburger only being about $7. There is also limited parking as this restaurant is literally on the side of the road. This is definitely a destination spot for Lawton, and not because there isn't much to do in the city. Rather this place deserves a visit because the burgers are truly incredible. The ONLY reason I didn't give this place a 5 was because I've been spoiled with incredible burgers in NYC, but I would definitely rank this up there with the best burgers.

The burgers are lean and yummy-- a huge burger that comes cut up in fourths (which is what I do with my burgers anyways due to having small hands and a small mouth) with all the fixings. It was too much to finish by myself...I was so full that I had absolutely could not try the cobbler + ice cream (but it looked delicious. Will be back one more time before leaving Lawton so I will try it then) It's the perfect start (or end) to a visit to the Wichita Mountains. Oh! and I love how they have a little kennel area outside for your doggies.

Meers is a place that you've got to visit if you're in the Fort Sill area. It's conveniently (if you can call anywhere in "Texoma" convenient) located near the wichita mountain wildlife preserve. The burgers here are really good. They're pretty sizable and come in a pie tin. Your drinks come in a glass jug. The cobbler and home made ice cream are really good too. The place has that old country Oklahoma atmosphere. It's supposed to get pretty busy on the weekends, so watch out if you're coming on a sunday.

Lets see.. Food Network, Travel Channel, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit... Cmon? really? What was so special about this place? Well that's what I thought when I read up on this joint when I was in Duncan, Oklahoma for a week and in attempt to find something unique about Oklahoma I came across this restaurant. I"M GLAD I DID! This place was the real deal. It's too bad that its so friggin far from most major metropolitan but I think thats the charm. The drive up to this restaurant was AMAZING!!!! Mountains, Hills, and lakes. It was pretty romantic. Now when you get to the Meers Store you'll find its anything but romantic with the very old vintage rustic look it presents. That's ok because its not about the looks but the taste. The special choice meats they use from the longhorns raised in the back that is special to the land in that area. The history to this store is extensive and very interesting. You'll notice that the history of the town and its restaurant still resonates from the choice of dishes it serves on but more importantly the "DISH" they serve the food on.... old miners tin plates that were used back in the 1800's. The hamburger is the gold at this hidden gem but another recommendation I'd have to make is the unique and distinguishing flavor of their LONGHORN BEEF RIBS!!!! My girlfriend saw it and immediately started taking pics on her Iphone and I was in utter shock by the size of the ribs. Its all fresh meat that is processed on their estate. Nothing commercial about it. When they say straight from the farm to your table they really mean it. I'd definitely recommend it. The staff was very courteous and friendly. I felt at first that being the only colored folks at this establishment I'd probably get the 'looks' but it wasn't the case. The diners as well as the staff were friendly, fun, and courteous. I'd recommend to any and all!!

I do not get the hype. The burger was mentioned as top 10 in the US thats just unbelievable. Ive eaten there three times. the burger is tasteless. The banana pudding was strait from a can. Do not waste your time just for the burger. The rest of the refuge and town are pretty cool. Oh and the staff at the restaurant are very nice great service even when its busy. .

So average. I love the old decor of the entire joint. The ambiance of an old country store, miles from civilization is great. The food...eh. The fried green tomatoes were bland. The beer cheese soup was tasty. The RC cola was fantastic and refreshing in a giant mason jar. The burger was the disappointment. I ordered the giant, signature burger, and it wasn't very flavorful. The toppings were bland and scarce. The burger comes in a metal plate and mine was full of grease. There was so much grease, that the bun was completely saturated...even the top bun. I'm glad I came here...but once was enough.

One of the best burgers in the southwest. Three sizes, hand made patties, buttered buns, and fixed in the traditional way - mustard. You can get them yankee style (ketchup) or sissy style (mayonnaise). Don't miss the pies and cobbler. And their beer is cold, golden and delicious. This is a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals kinda place. Somewhat out-of-the-way location but absolutely worth the drive. After a suit and tie day or uniform day it's a great way to unwind. If you're traveling to Lawton or Duncan it's worth the time if your a burger fan. It ranks up there with HoDads in San Deigo, Harbor House at the Kona Marina in Kona, HI, and the Post-Pub in DC.

My friend's and I came here from California as we are on our summer training with the Army Reserves at nearby Fort Sill. We heard it was a good place to head to so we went. The lines are long during the rush but the food is pretty good. I had the Meers Cheeseburger, fries, and the Meers Gold beer, which is their own brew of beer found nowhere else but there. I was really full after all of that. I wanted to try the cobbler with ice cream but I couldn't fit anything else in my stomach! The reason for my 3 stars was that the wait in line was not worth it, the restaurant was dirty, the service was only so-so, and its a CASH-ONLY place (oh, the nearest ATM is like 12 miles away). Go here for a good burger and just to say you've been.

The Meers Store and Restaurant is located on a secondary Oklahoma highway a few miles north of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Fifteen friends and I went there twice in summer 2011 for an early supper after hiking in the refuge in 110-degree heat. The building is ramshackle. Its interior is filthy and really warrants inspection for possible condemnation. Regardless of party size, it is probable that you will wait in a long line (though free lemonade and water are available) to be seated. By the posters on the walls, it is obviously owned and operated by people very much into the radical libertarian and Tea Party movements. The service was indifferent to about adequate. Only cash is accepted (probably to avoid paying taxes), and separate bills are not accommodated. Overall, if you're picky or a yuppie and/or have young children, this restaurant is not recommended. However, if you're fairly young and/or adventurous, this restaurant is recommended for the unique experience with the expectation that the food will be mostly average. I would take the experience in a similar fashion and with the same precautions as one would eating in a third-world country. Only water and lemonade orders are given free refills, and all drinks are served in quart-sized Mason jars. Home-brewed beer is available, but I am not sure that I would trust the safety of it given the unsanitary conditions; improperly brewed beer can be quite dangerous. The fried okra is decent. The onion rings are mediocre and flavourless. For an entree at both my visits, I ordered the $15 Seismic burger, which is served in a medium-sized pie pan and adorned with several toppings. The burger was definitely made with longhorn beef, so it will be somewhat drier than usual; that was fine. The toppings were average in quality. The fries served with the meal were not very good. Dessert may actually be the most delicious part of the meal; in fact, in the future, I would be inclined to skip the meals there and just have dessert. This is NOT gourmet! And, it is grossly overpriced, especially by Oklahoma standards. But, it is a strange experience. For better or worse, this institution helps keep Oklahoma fresh as a backwater of America!

this place is great. i am a recovering vegetarian, and never that into burgers...but the boyfriend and my dad wanted to go...so we did. the burger was a delight. though you might be happy to know they do have a half- sized version. the homemade vanilla ice cream was great. when you leave, you can drive to the nature perserve and look at buffalo. yeah! we even saw a double rainbow! And...they have RC cola, which I think is the primo cola. go here. it's a great place that takes their longhorn seriously.

We drove over 250 miles to check out this restaurant. I will say up front the Peach Cobbler was great and our friends absolutely loved the home made ice cream. Plus the salad bar was pretty good. 'Fries were good too and not greasy and nothing was over salted at all.. We had 2 pork ribs and 1 beef rib and 1 regular burger. All the ribs were dry and charred that I felt like I was eating bbq pork jerky and not pork ribs. Our friend had a similar experience with the beef ribs. It was like they took the leftovers from the night before and threw them back on the grill, burnt them andn threw a bunch of sauce on it. My husband's burger was not very good either, flat and tasteless and bun was not good either. It was sad because we had heard such great things about the place and were truly disappointed. We should have complained but we have been dining with these friends for years and we have never returned anything so I know we were all uncomfortable and we all commented on the lack of quality control here. Our friend called the restaurant the next day , the manager was not available and the woman who answered swore that they never recycle food and said she was sorry and would look into it. Othere peope seemed happy, but not one had ribs....lots of burgers.

I love Meers. Not only are their hamburgers awesome, they have the best peach cobbler, EVER. They cobbler takes me back to my childhood. A huge serving of cobbler, that I would share with NO ONE!. Awesome place.

after a day of rock climbing and hiking in the wichitas, this place is heaven on earth for everybody in this entire world. when we were waiting in line i was amazed with all the business cards on the walls and friendly people all around. i ended up talking with some korean travel group that came HERE on their huge american roadtrip. it was cool to speak korean with some people that probably would have thought this was the last place in the world that'd happen. which leaves me to believe that meer's is magic. the burgers are sliced like pizzas and make every wrong thing that has ever happened to you just magically disappear. try the peach cobler with ice cream and i'm sure you're going to OD on it because it's so freakin' craptacular good. the signature choc beer that's only sold here in amazing in taste and in size. be sure to pick up a four-pack that you can only get in this amazing one-of-a-kind place that serves up the best burger you've ever had.

Today was my first time visiting Meers, and found the Meers cheeseburger to be delicious. What I did not find to be pleasant was the waitstaff, they were not friendly. It took our waitress Paula, about 15 minutes to acknowledge and greet us, once we were seated. Although busy, it appeared that the waitstaff was never concerned about providing excellent service.....BIG disappointment. Even, with poor service, I must say the Meers burger is awesome! It's a great place for everyone to vist ONCE.

I was raised in Lawton and I finally got around to making a trip up there this month. I have to say that I'm quite angry with myself for waiting till now to experience such an outstanding burger! What the hell was I thinking?!? I'm so thankful when I showed up when I did because right after I placed my order, about twenty or so bikers poured into this little place. There's limited seating as it is. So there is no telling how long we would have had to wait in line. I wanted to get the full experience of this place. So I ordered the Seismic burger with all the fixings and a side of Freedom Fries. The burger held up well considering the size and the flavor was great. The freedom fries are your typical "bowling alley" kind of fry. So don't expect the same result as you did with the burger. On my next visit, I will have to try one of those Buffalo Burgers and a dessert if I have the room and endurance for it. One more thing, they make their own beer, which you can purchase at the register. They sell them as a 4 pk for around $20.00 after taxes. Just be sure that you have enough cash on hand prior to making the trip out to this great place.

I LOVE Meersburgers and Peach Cobbler with Vanilla Icecream. I first visited there when visting friends at Ft. Sill...now I continue to visit when I visit relatives in Oklahoma City. It's worth the drive! If you want to make a day of a visit...you can visit Ft Sill, or take a drive around Mt. Scott and see the Buffaloes roaming at the Wachita Wildlife Refuge (it's fun to look out for buffalo as you ride though the Refuge). My only warning...once you have a Meersburger, other burger's just don't compare.

This place had some charm to it being as old and nostalgic as it is. It's out of the way as well and I was excited to get here and eat some really good food. I left so dissapointed. I have had burgers so much better than this. It seems that quality is not the norm only quantity. I had a much better burger in the town of Altus called Roberts. That was good. Meers? Don't waste your time. It's an experience to go once but never again. Food was mediocre. And my pet peeve is when servers stack the food while carrying it. Meaning the bottom of the pan/plate is touching the top of the food. That's gross. Might as well lick the table. Tried to pay separate but the fat lady sneered at us and said "we dont split checks". What can I say, not much to expect in this desolate and depressing place.

This gets a five star rating due to the entire experience of eating at The Meers Store. We were staying in Blanchard and took the hour long drive to Meers due to the killer recommendations of my friends. Sassy and I have the massive Seismic Burger with onion rings and it is over the top greatness in a pie tin. Let me say that the building has character to say the least. If you are anywhere near Meers Ok, get ur azz over to the Meers Store. Oh, and the peach cobbler and ice cream..... WOW

I like the food here a lot!!! Be prepared for a little different atmosphere here. This place is old and wore down that's the only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 star. I am not a fan of this kind of atmosphere but the food was good.

The Meers Store is a popular attraction in Oklahoma's Wichita Mountains and features some of the best (and biggest) hamburgers you'll find anywhere. Naturally lean Texas Longhorn beef is the main ingredient in those big burgers. Although it is not advertised as a menu item, the Meers Store has on occasion served buffalo burgers -which is even more lean and healthy to eat than the Longhorn beef. The Wichita Mountains is home to a herd of over 500 wild buffalo. As a measure of population control a few buffalo are auctioned off to buyers once a year. Sometimes the Meers Store buys one or more buffalo for the restaurant. When you visit you'll have to ask if they're currently offering any buffalo burgers. If not, just get the regular Longhorn fueled Meersburger or Meerscheeseburger. It will not disappoint. Along with the burgers, the Meers Store serves a number of other meat related items, including some really good steaks and barbecue. The restaurant has an additional attraction: a very sensitive seismograph to measure earthquakes along the Meers fault and to pick up geologic activity from many distant areas. The seismograph is right there in the restaurant. My review of the Meers Store would rate five stars, but there's a couple areas that could be improved -none of which have anything to do with the otherwise great tasting food. I wish there was more seating inside the restaurant as well as more parking outside. On a busy day (like a warm weekend evening) the situation can get cramped. I would also prefer it if the place didn't look sort of junky. It is possible to make a restaurant look authentically quaint and rustic without it feeling like Junior Samples could walk up any time to sell you a rusted out old pickup truck, "jus' call BR-549!"

I give this four stars for the delicious burger and the overall experience of eating a great burger in what feels like the middle of nowhere. Our experience started outside and we were lined up against the wall waiting to get inside. I saw they had some kennels for those who travel with pets. That's a very thoughtful thing to have. What did annoy me was the people that were smoking next to the "no smoking within 25 feet of the doorway" sign. Eventually they made it into the building so they put out their cigarette. We waited about 45 minutes before we called to our table; while we were waiting we got to admire the wall decorations. After that, it all happened so quickly. There were four of us, well, maybe three and half of us. We split the biggest burger they have (I forgot what it was called but it had jalapenos, cheese, bacon, and who knows what else). It covered the entire plate. We also ordered onion rings and french fries. When they brought out our drinks, they were in old glass jars (but they were clean) and that was kind of neat. Finally our burger arrived and we all agreed, it was a yummy! The fries and onion rings were nothing out of this world. In fact, we only ordered one side of each and did not finish it. I couldn't imagine anyone eating the burger we shared by themselves...until I looked at the table next to us and everyone had their own. Oh well. If you happen to be in the area, you should swing by.

We recently moved to the Wichita Falls area, and after reading these reviews we made the trip out here for a great burger. We were extremely disappointed. First we waited almost 15 minutes for a waitress to take our order, and they wern't very busy. The table ws quite sticky and dirty as well. Not only was the place insanely dirty, we were unfortunate enough to have choosen a table with a view of the kitchen. Watching the cooks eating over the food they were cooking, licking fingers and all was pretty gross. Once we got our food after another long wait, it wasn't very good. the burgers, while large, just didn't have any flavor. The fries were cold, limp, and soggy. Additionally the waitress didn't come back even once--not to refill our drinks or to check to see if we needed anything. Our glasses were almost empty when the food arrived, so we went the entire meal with no drinks. We did try to flag someone down several times, but none of the servers would make eye contact.

Who'd've thunk that Longhorns could be so healthy? Apparently the people over in Meers, Oklahoma did. The Meers Store (featured in "Hamburger America") makes a burger that has to be seen to be believed: a 7-inch wide longhorn burger served in a pie tin. Wow. I think I'm in heaven... Super lean longhorn burger, grown just outside, placed in a fresh, giant bun, surrounded by fresh lettuce, onion, and tomato...Oh-my-gawd... This burger was almost too good to view. It had me at 'hello.' I had to wipe up a small puddle of drool on the floor after watching the burger wizards at Meers prepare this awesome meal. If you're ever down in Oklahoma, you have to stop by this place for their burgers. And then you have to buy me one and ship it overnight to California! Disclaimer: I haven't been to the Meers store...yet. I hope to one day. This place was showcased in the documentary "Hamburger America" on the Sundance Channel .

Let me start by saying that despite a wrong turn and ending up about an hour in the opposite direction I was still determined to make it Meers for a try at one of their burgers. The menu is pretty simple and has a humorous twist on how to order. I quickly learned that a wait to get in always expected especially on weekends. For what the building(s) may lack in appearance is made up for in taste of the local fare. Burgers are served up in a pie tin rather than a traditional plate and at the very first bite you quickly realize that this is not the standard run-of-the-mill beef you may be used to at other joints. The beef used is " ...from prize winning Texas Longhorn beef raised on the family's own ranch. Beef that is actually lower in cholesterol than chicken!" . The servers are very polite and courteous and you get free refills on Ice Tea/Lemonade and Coffee. Meers is tucked away in between a few hills north of Fort Sill/Lawton and is the only show in town (literally) there is nothing else out there not even a gas station. This is a must-do if you are in the area. Enjoy One final note: Meers will only accept cold-hard-cash or local checks that must be approved by the manager. No plastic accepted in this joint. I hadn't been to Meers in years and today was the first time that we had to wait in a long line to get in. During our long wait in line I had nothing to do but look at the decore and I could not believe how filthy the place was. I don't believe the place has ever been dusted. We finally get to our table, we had to wait 20 minutes to be acknowledged after being seated. But they were really busy so I was ok with that.. While waiting on our order I noticed the salad bar..omg...the outside of that thing looked like it had never been wiped down. I kept thinking to myself please, please let the kitchen be cleaner. Do they not get health inspections out there? My burger was really good but I would have enjoyed it much better if it was a cleaner place. And I agree with another review, I didn't like how they stacked the plates of food as they carried them to the tables. Hate to say it but I won't be back. If you don't care what filth that the customer can see...imagine what the kitchen is like..

Is it worth all the hype for this BFE burger joint you ask? Possibly..we drove 105 miles from OKC waited in like for an hour the service kinda sucked. I got the seismic burger 16oz 97 lean for $14. The burger was a good average burger with every topping known to man. Definitely a one of a kind place with a one a kind experience with beautiful scenery. Even though you won't have room in your gut the homemade ice cream is a must.

I have been going here as long as I can remember...until tonight. Friends of mine tried to go there with their son in a wheelchair. The entrance that is for the ramp was locked and people where standing in front of the door. The manager refused to ask the people to move for a few minutes so they could get in.

I was traveling for business and recalled a friend recommending this place. I called just to make sure they were open. The lady was rude and abrupt. She was so muffled when she answered the phone, so I asked " I'm sorry - what did you say the restaurant was called?" She repeated herself acting very frustrated "Meets restaurant! How may I help you?!?l" I told her I was just making sure they were open. She said "Yea, but we close RIGHT AT 7:30pm!" I said thank you and she just hung up. I'm a foodie - I heard they let you choose your cut of steak. Being this was a different concept, I was going to make the 22 mile drive anyway. When I saw the reviews on Urbanspoon reiterating the rudeness of the employees. I decided that they didn't deserve my business after all.

Man oh man is this place awesome! When you walk in you're immediate struck with western culture and a dive-y environment. All of the decorations are exactly what places like Cracker Barrel are going for, except for these are all items used at Meers, Ok, for the last century plus. There are are plenty of rooms to this establishment to get seated almost anywhere, and each has its own varying form of dilapidation, remodel (some of which are several decades old), and repair. The walls have dollar bills pinned to them with customers' names and if the person didn't have a dollar they just write it on the wall. There are restrooms for men and women but they're small and one person occupancy. Second... The customer service. My wife and I came on a Saturday at noon... Busy busy busy. We waited for a while in line and then once we got seated it took a longer than desired to receive our food. However, it was apparent that it was rush hour(s). But the cherry on top was our waitress Jessica, who appeared to be all of 17. I did not envy her, she was almost running the whole time but stayed on top of all of her tables. She was doing her best with what she had and checked on us multiple times. I couldn't have done it as well as she did if I were her. Jessica definitely earned her tip. Lastly is the quality of food. If you come during rush hour you can wait 45mins to an hour and half to be seated and get your food. And as we waited I started to hope to God that the burger I tried a year ago wasn't just some amazing burger because it was nostalgic. My wife turned to me and informed me step by step as she went from content all the way to "hangry". And when the Meers burgers w/ cheese arrived we both took only one bite and looked at each other to say the exact same thing, "totally worth it." AND... Do not miss this if you go... The peach cobbler and ice cream is literally the best I have had in my life. I'm not exaggerating. The reason I took a star off is because the entire establishment could really used a renovation, some of it was questionable. The food is also on the expensive side. $10+ for just a burger (granted its huge). But full disclosure this burger is in my top 5 burgers, easy. The meat also comes from the longhorn steers kept in the Wichita Mountains animal reserve where they are grass fed, without hormones, & 97% fat free. If you're in the area you need to check it out. Keep in mind they're closed Tuesday's & Wednesday's.

I would give this place a "eeehhh". For all the rave about it - it wasn't as amazing as I was expecting it to be. The service was SO SLOW. The Meers burger was good though - and the Frickles (fried pickles) were good but kind of spicy. The service I think is what did me in. If we weren't with a big group of friends, my husband and I would have been insane over how long we were there. We had good service once we got it - it was just so insanely slow - and when our server walked away, it would be a good 10/15 minutes before we would spot her again. We will probably go back with a group of friends again, just because it's fun - but surely not a place we will go all the time. The food wasn't good enough to bring me back over and over and over!!

Fantastic food. Great burgers, the onion rings, fried okra, and fried green tomatoes are fantastic. The desserts are out of this world. Will definitely be back. :)

If I was just judging the food I could give this overhyped restaurant three stars, but unfortunately a few other issues come into play. The Good- My mother and I shared a "Seismic Burger" for a late lunch/ early dinner. Thanks to the size of the burger (1/2 pound) we were not at all hungry for the remainder of our day. Thanks to the lean quality of the beef, we woke the next morning without the heavy bloated feeling one has after most large burger meals. Also, do yourself a favor and just look at the photos of cobbler here. Now go ahead and order a bowl, doesn't matter what flavor. You can ask for the ice cream to be served in a separate bowl. If I ever return it will be to order just a bowl of cobbler. The burger was ok, but the portion size of the cobbler might be worth the 13 mile drive from town. The Bad- This is an OLD building. I was asked why I was seated all the way at the edge of my seat, hunched over and nearly lying on the table, so I invited my dinner companions to switch seats with me for just a moment. There were no adequate words to describe the slant in the floor directly behind my chair, but I was pretty sure I was about to tumble backwards at some point during my meal. I was happy that we were there on a slow day, as I could feel every footstep as people crossed the room. I also suggest that you don't look too closely at the floors or the corners. I'm just going to take a wild guess that there might be some dust. The Ugly- Even for a down home, country loving, bible belt, conservative community like Lawton, the views and attitude on display on the menus and other random literature throughout the store are on the nasty side. Sorry, but I'm pretty sure they didn't have to reduce the size of the hamburger buns because of the new healthcare laws. I'm also not fond of being called names by people when I've decided to spend my money on their food. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm guessing a few scorch marks on their souls. thelostogle.com/2013/11/… From their menu- * Our famous burgers are cooked medium well done and are served with mustard, dill pickles, tomatoes, purple onions, and green leaf lettuce. We use American cheese because our burgers are American burgers. We have been fixing them this way since the beginning, for over 50 years and this is the way our cowboys like them. 99% of our customers like them this way so this is why we respectfully call this burger (and your hats off boys) the COWBOY BURGER. * Some folks like mayo on their burgers instead of mustard but call burgers with this a SISSY BURGER! Other folks like ketchup on their burgers instead of mustard. We call burgers with this a YANKEE BURGER! Cowboys believe ketchup belongs on fries, not beef. * A few folks out there want all three---mustard, mayo, and ketchup---on their burgers. The poor fools are simply confused. We don't care how you want your burger fixed. We will fix it any way you want it. We cook your burger to order. Try one with bacon, jalapeno or both. However, if you order something other then a cowboy burger, please be patient; our cooks rarely encounter sissies, Yankees or confused souls.

You people refuse service to wheelchair-bound patrons? Denying service and completely embarrassing and demoralizing a 16 year-old boy is beyond disgusting! The Ford family is made up of wonderful people who have touched many people's lives. You have no idea how far and wide this news is going to spread. Rest assured that my family will never set foot in your establishment again, and that we'll relentlessly help spread the word of your disgraceful business practices.

There are few times the middle of nowhere means, exactly that. Meers is a drive from everywhere; and a drive you won't forget when dodging Longhorns or stopping to snapchat the grazing wild buffalo. If you make it to Meers, watch your step upon entry. Very historic and slanted building with torn seats and wobbly tables. The menu is insightful on the history and how/why the food is prepared as it is. Drinks came fairly quickly in X-large mason jars and the delicious Meers Beer came in a large 22 oz bottle. Those ordering steak got a show, a 30lb cut of beef was brought to our table for your choice of cut. After that, well........... we waited and waited. We recalled the entire dialogue of titanic before our food ever came out. The waitresses were cold as Jack freezing in the Atlantic and their service was titanic quality, wrecked. The food was delicious! We had no complaints about the gigantic burgers, juicy cooked to perfection steaks or the ridiculous home made peach cobbler and vanilla icecream. Everything you could expect from a 50min wait. I will be returning, but with my DVD player and less of an appetite since I'll have time to establish one.

Unfortunately I have have to give a rating or else it won't let me post! I would of given no stars.... Why may you ask? Well they were closed. My family from California came to visit my husband and I in Texas, we wanted to show them the Wichita Mountains and take them to Meers! We knew they had special hours so we checked the website before making the trip! The website showed that they were only closed on Tuesdays! So we planned out trip for Wednesday. After the drive and the scenic route we were ready to enjoy these "Heavenly Burgers" and Out of this World Peach Cobbler! As we pulled up we weren't sure if we were in the right spot cause there were no cars anywhere! We parked and to our surprise they were CLOSED! A sign above the door read "Closed Tuesday's and Wednesday's!" What a disappointment! I was very turned off by this establishment due to incorrectly posting its hours! I encourage management to update their website and where ever else their hours are posted, such as Facebook and Yelp! Because according to that they are open! As we drove away multiple cars kept pulling up to the establishment and then sadly turning away! I am not sure when I will come back. But I might have to call before I do!

Burgers were good. Not fantastic as they only cook them medium to well done. Prices and service were great. The homemade ice cream is amazing!!! This is a must see stop while in Lawton.

Meers is top 5 best restaurants you'll go to in your entire life. They have the best cobbler (get it with ice cream) you'll ever have (and I am not even a cobbler fan). They give you large freedom-loving American portions and they brew their own beer. The West wasn't won in salad and if you come within 100 nautical miles of Meers, you need to check them out. You'll be back!

I've never been somewhere where you wait almost an hour at 3pm on a Sunday. We almost left but after all the hype we heard about the little place we had to go. Overall the food was pretty good. The meersburger is Huge! It'll feed 2 people easy. It tasted good, good buns and cooked good, not over cooked like a lot of places. The fried green tomatoes were good but the batter is spicy! The old building is cool but man was it freezing in there! Every table is like directly under a vent. The dessert was huge and very yummy. Great price too huge servings 5 of us ate the cobbler and ice cream and its all homemade. Don't know if I'll go back but if I'm in the area and the lines not crazy long I may have to sample something else.

This is a must stop for the hungry traveler. Hope you dont mind lines because everytime i have been here its been long. They have a great selection of awesome tasting food. Something new is the frickels and at first i was like no thanks but wow they are tasty. Now if your really hungry jump right in and get the seismic burger i dare you. The staff is good one day and not so the next. Maybe its because there overwhelmed i do not know. Go to the bathroom before you go because the lines for the restroom is very long. They only have one toilet per bathroom.

AWESOME Burger! I drove over an hour out of my way to come here. I waited in line for almost another hour just to get a seat. The service wasn't great.... But the burger makes up for it all! This is 97% Fat Free Longhorn Cattle Beef from the farm on the property. It's GOOD! They serve it on a big bun with mustard, pickle, lettuce and tomato. I asked for Mayonnaise and was informed that Mayo transforms it into a 'Yankee Burger'. Well, since I'm a Yankee (in these parts) I thought it was OK. The burger was as big as the metal plate it was served on. Actually, I only ate half there, and took the rest home. (FYI: This burger is actually quite good when microwaved a day later) The french fries I ordered were cold and wilted.... but did I mention the BURGER? I got chicken wings, but they weren't very good. This is a BURGER place. I took a bottle of their beer (that they commision someone else to brew) and it was pretty good!! Overall, this is a unique experience. This place IS the town of Meers. There is nothing else. Stop by for an experience....

Stopped by on a Sunday night for dinner. After being seated it took an hour and forty minutes to get my food. And I only ordered a burger! I wasn't all that bothered since I wasn't in a hurry and had a beer while a waited. But when the waitress mention they were out of peach cobbler(the only reason for my visit) I was a bit annoyed but still decided to give the cherry cobbler a try. Mistake...the crust was burnt:(

Cash only restaurant. No free soft drink refills. No Coke or Pepsi, they only have RC cola brands. The place is very popular and expect long waits on weekends when the weather is pleasant and people go to the Wildlife Refuge. This is one of those really bizarre hole in the wall kinds of places. It is a very old building conveniently located next to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. I have been there several times over many years, and it is consistently the same. (I keep returning there due to having friends who want to go there for their first time. Nothing else would get me back.) Start with the negative: First, the service is pretty awful. On BOTH my 2012 and 2015 visits, we waited about an hour and then were seated at a dirty table. The menus are badly worn dirty paper. The seating and tables seem to be from the 1950s. The tables in part of the restaurant lean so badly toward the sagging end of the building that you have to keep you plate and drink glass from sliding off the table. On a visit in 2012, the server seemingly forgot our fries and onion rings and brought them out only after we asked again after receiving food. The server was disinterested and was rarely seen. The positive: In 2015 visit, the server was a little more visible. The burger is quite good. In 2012, I thought the onion rings and fries were good. In 2015 visit, the onion rings were disgusting and the "Freedom Fries" were cold. So, if you can handle the long wait, poor facility, inadequate restrooms and inconsistent service, it is a really good burger. I will probably continue to drop by every few years for a burger so that my friends can get this experience.

I've been to Meers a few times in the five years that I've lived in Oklahoma, and I've loved it every time. I've never minded the long waits or the old buildings, but just the other day, My husband and I drove out to Meers from Oklahoma city with a visiting friend. When we arrived, there was a large sign on the building that said the restaurant is now closed on Tuesdays AND WEDNESDAYS. I was extremely disappointed, and quite frankly, felt lied to because nowhere on their website does it say that they are closed on Wednesdays. We even called ahead (no one picked up the phone), and there's no indication on a phone recording that they are closed on Wednesdays. Like I said, I've loved my experiences there, but am extremely disappointed.

It's worth the wait! Don't be intimidated by the outside or the length of the line waiting to get a table. It is soooo worth it! The atmosphere inside is nothing to write home about. But...the burgers, frickles and onion rings are! We got there around 2:30 on a hot Sunday afternoon so the wait was about 20 minutes. We almost left when we saw the line, but I'm glad we stayed. I must agree, the burger was one of the best I've had. The fried bread and butter pickles or "Frickles" have a slight kick. A good kick! The onion rings are light and freshly made. The free refills made our day! I'm sure it's all about timing here. Go in the off peak hours so your wait isn't too long. While you are waiting, just chill and read what they have on the walls!

99% hype delivers 1%. Not a place worth driving any distance, but if you are going to the Wildlife Refuge this is literally the only place in the area. It is probably the first cash only restaurant I was disappointed with, as generally a cash only place is excellent to offset being a cash only establishment. Not awful by any means, but there is no reason to come here unless you are going to the Wildlife Refuge and want something, anything in the area. While it is a funky little place, prices are a bit high for the middle of nowhere and cash only. Perhaps if they would have some specialty or some quirky food oriented tradition the hype would be justified. Pretty much just average. In a large city this place would have closed down years ago. Disappointing after all the hype the place gets, which is not justified.

Meers is one of my favorite restaurants within the vicinity of the Fort Sill area. If you ever find your ways to Lawton, you MUST visit Meers. It is one of the best restaurants in the entire area and easily brags to have the best burgers in Oklahoma. While at Meers there are a couple things you need to know. 1. Cell phone service is awful there. Be prepared to have bad service or none while you're there. There is no wi-fi here. 2. No Credit Cards. They only accept cash, no credit cards or debit cards. They do have an ATM machine inside for those who forget to bring cash. 3. The History of Meers. This is one of the oldest restaurants in town and has a rich history in its expansions and service. The menus here also have a description of the history which makes a great story to read. Beware to watch your step in this establishment because the new additions to the place are a bit uneven. It adds to the establishment's authenticity. 4. The Meersburger and Seismic Burger are what they are famous for. You cannot come here without getting one at least once in your life. The Seismic Burger is 16 oz. so be prepared to have left overs. 5. No reservations. It's a first come first serve rule, so get there early. They do not take reservations and due to their fame, lines can be as long as an hour even at three in the afternoon. Get there early and the smaller the group, the faster you'll be served. If you are looking for a great place to hang out after hiking, a place to chill after a day in Lawton, or a nice meal then this is a must go to place.

I ate at Meer's a couple years ago and it was so good I still can't get it off my mind. I'm going to be driving through the Midwest soon and I plan on going a couple hours out of my way to get back here. The absolute best burger and peach cobbler I've ever had!

Every time I am in OK, I am told to go to Meers. So i finally got a chance to go. and while there are some great aspects to the place. there were some extremely annoying events that took place during my visit. I'll start with when we walked in. We stood at the host stand for 7 minutes or more before someone even acknowledged our presence (some of use even started checking email because we were tired of waiting). After one of the employees passed by us a few times, they finally said; "you know, you can seat yourself." There is no sign or anything, but OK so we decided to sit down. "oh! not there. That section is closed." again, no sign or anything but OK so we found another table. "oh! I am sorry but that table is reserved for 5 people and you only have 4." at this point I was a little annoyed. you want me to seat myself but only if it is where you want me to sit. After the musical chair bit, we finally sat down at the table they wanted us to sit at. right away the waitress said "If y'all want cobbler better order it now because we are about to dump it. we close in 20 minutes." we got the impression they were not wanting to feed 4 people so close to closing. none us wanted cobbler and then got the "suit yourself" eye-roll. nothing on the menu seemed appetizing except the burgers so all of us got burgers. I will give the waitress credit as she royally dorked up our drink order but comped the drinks as a result. by the way, their beer is really good and it goes well with the burger. I got the onion rings (very good) because the waitress said their fries are horrible....I appreciate the honesty but why not do something about that? while sitting at the table, we all noticed a long note on the table about how they are having to change their menu and it was for political reasons. when i sit down to eat the last thing I want is to read about or have put into my face is who you blame for your problems (especially politics). Not sure how you can blame politicians for having to change your menu when you offer fries even your staff says sucks. In all, I went to say I went. But i don't need to go back.

There are just some places that weasel their way into your memory and, no matter how many places you go, you just can't shake them. That's Meers to me. As a young child, my dad was stationed at Fort Sill and we used to go to Meers. There's something about the old mining buildings and odd decor that is just fascinating to a kid and something even more magical about burgers the size of your head that even though we left the area, this restaurant never left my mind. Twenty-five years later, the Army saw fit to return my family to Fort Sill and I will tell you, I was so excited to be able to visit Meers again. My first visit back was incredible. So many times, the way you remember things as a kid is different than the way you experience it as an adult. But not Meers. Despite the intervening years, the place felt the same, smelled the same and, yes, tasted the same. It's incredible thing to be that consistent. But nostalgia aside, here are things to know about Meers. It's cash only. And it's not cheap. A Meersburger runs you about $10. Sides are generally $5. The best peach cobbler in the world with a mound of ice cream is $5. There's an ATM on premise, but do yourself a favor and be prepared with cash before you get there. There may be a wait. A long one. If you arrive at Meers on a weekend or on a holiday at the normal eating times, you will stand in a long line. It may take over an hour to get through that line. Your waiting time will be substantially increased if you bring in a huge party. That being said, we've also come in for a weekday lunch and had to wait no time at all for a party of 4. There is basically no service and what service there is pretty much sucks. There is a hostess/cashier/head-of-everything who scares the bejeezus out of me. I've never had a problem with her, but I've watched her lay into other folks. The servers are always a little harried and don't always seem inclined to top off drinks. Ask and they will do. But we've pretty much always had to ask. So here's how to get the best service at Meer's: 1) come when there are few to no crowds (avoid weekends, Fridays after Fort Sill's BCT graduation, holidays) unless you are prepared to wait; 2) Sit where you are told. Don't try to move to another table, 3) Don't let kids play with/lean on/touch the chain at the top of the ramp; 4) Don't expect stellar service. You didn't come here for the service. You came here for the food. So the food. Get a Meersburger. Sure, there are other things on the menu. But going to Meers and not getting a burger is like going to a steakhouse and ordering the salad. Or the fish. Or a vegetarian entree, You don't do it unless you want to be disappointed. So get the Meersburger. Meeersburgers are only cooked one way: well-done. Accept that and move on. And Meersburgers are prepared with mustard, lettuce, red onions, tomatoes and dill pickles. Can you get them prepared with less ingredients? Yes. But don't. The red onions actually are part of the experience and its a good one. So order a Meersburger. Get it done the way they do it. Don't mess around with it. You can split sides. We always get fried okra and, sometimes, the fried green tomatoes. They're not the best fried green tomatoes, but we like them. The frickles are good too if you like bread and butter pickles. You don't need a side per person, but a smattering of sides to share is fun. And we always, always, always end the meal with the Peach Cobbler and Vanilla Ice Cream. You can split this four ways and have four very satisfied people. The ice cream is made on site and is excellent and the peach cobbler is the bee's knees. If you go with these options, you won't be disappointed. Meers is an experience. Embrace the experience. Embrace the way they do things. And you too can create memories that can last a lifetime!

I have made only about 5 visits to this place in the last 30 years. I grow more disappointed with each visit in the shrinking size of the Longhorn Burger. I can remember my first visit the burger patty itself was the size of the gold mining pans they were served in. That meat almost hung over the edge of the pan and the bun the same size. I'm guessing they were almost 3/4-lbs now you're lucky if its a 1/4 pounder and you're paying much more. It's good meat but, not worth the travel anymore for such a small novelty burger. It used to be the place to drive to after the Wichita Mountains tour with visiting family from out of town, we live in Burkburnett and that's just to far to drive for that. I do love the old building, though. It truly does give character to the visit when there. I find myself wanting to drive to Ann's Country Kitchen down the road a couple miles instead for really great quality food.

I've had many fond visits to Meers, but it has been a few years. Apparently a lot has changed, and not for the better. I can easily forgive an hour wait if the food and service is outstanding. Unfortunately, the entire experience was awful. Although many of us at the front of the line had waited for an hour, some at the back were indiscriminately seated before us because they exactly fit the table. The hostess was rude throughout our wait. After finally being seated (and by being seated I mean we were told where our seats were and to go find them), we had the pleasure of a table against the back wall near the waitress station. Even better, our table was at a sloped angle which made sitting very uncomfortable. We asked for a high chair and were answered as if it was the worst request in history. My wife went to the restroom to change our son's diaper. There she found the restroom to be unacceptably dirty. We waited about 10-15 minutes before a waitress even acknowledged us. She was rude and impatient as though we took too long to order. We were so fed up that we left. I took my son to the car while my wife paid. After another 10 minutes waiting for the order to arrive, the waitress was nowhere to be found. My wife finally had to find another waitress to help sack up our food. It is always easy to write off a negative review, and I absolutely hate writing one. However, today's experience was unacceptable. I hope that someone at Meers reads this and understands that these paying customers who drove two hours to visit deserve better treatment than we received.

This was a once in a lifetime trip. Meaning it won't be worth another trip here. We drove from Oklahoma City for this burger, but I am not sure why people would even drive from Lawton for this burger. The burger was just okay. Nothing to really brag about. People who say this burger is great have never had a great burger. The highlights of the trip were the Frickles, onion rings, and peach cobbler. The Frickles surprised me because I am not a pickles fan. The onion rings some of the best I have ever tasted. The peach cobbler was also really good. Also had a few bites of the pecan cobbler, interesting... Kinda like pecan pie. Overall I would say pass on this out of the way destination. Not worth the drive.

While waiting the 45 minutes in line to be seated, I salivated recalling the juicy burgers served on bakery fresh buns with home cut fries I would regularly get at the Meers Store back in my college days. Yeah, about that. My 45 minute wait for a table, followed by another 30 min to have my food hit the table left me with utter disappointment. The $11.00 meersburger was dried out and crumbly. The bun was room temperature and quite stale, crumbling as much as the meat. Home cut fried have been replaced by what seem to be frozen bagged fries. The cobbler was acceptable, served lukewarm and dry, seeming as though we got the remnants scraped out of the pan and into our bowl. The homemade ice cream was quite good. However, I doubt most people are waiting 45 min in 101 degree heat for the cobbler. The salad bar is adequate assuming there is not much of a demand for fresh greens at a burger place. I guess fame and pop-culture notoriety have really taken it's toll on the quality of what was one of my favorite destination restaurants for so many years.

My husband and I decided to take a spur of the moment drive to Meers to check out the area and the restaurant he heard about while at work. We ran smack into it and was amazed at the road and how it divided so quickly. I read the previous reviews and thought I wouldn't be eating for at least two hours seeing as how it was July 4th. There was literally NO ONE in line and we were asked to be seated right away. I didn't like how you had to locate your own seating as a few tables were dirty and still had food on it so the seating was limited. The menu is paper and I loved the various choices. We stuck with the specialty and it was one of the biggest burgers I have ever seen! So delicious and very fresh, I could practically taste the spices individually. The drinks were gigantic as well (and here we were worried about refills) and very filling. We literally took a whole burger home. The homemade ice cream was to die for!!! So soft and scrumptious. This is a must have for anyone looking for a great burger. The place really does fool you but don't judge a book by it's cover. Happy eating. ** THIS PLACE DOES NOT TAKE CREDIT, DEBIT, or CHECKS**

This place is in the middle of nowhere out near the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Preserve. The wait was about a half hour when we got here. The burger is the true reason why there are so many people here. The meersburger, meerscheeseburger, or seismic burger all come in the gargantuam sizes and are the width of a pie. The meat is from longhorn cattle and pretty decent. One thing I did not know is that mustard comes standardly on the burgers. If you want another condiment, you have to tell them not to add the mustard. We also had sides of onion rings, okra, and fries and these were all great and plentiful. The craft beer served here is made from a Choctaw recipe and was tasty and strong. The walls were spinning after getting up while drinking this. The bottles only come in 24 ounce sizes so they are kinda large. The dessert here is excellent. I had the pecan cobbler and homemade ice cream. Both had that handcrafted taste going on.

After visiting the Wichita Mtns. Wildlife Refuge, this was always our go-to stop for a late lunch. All of the times I went, the service was great and it was always very crowded. Expect a wait for a table. The burgers are enormous and served in a tin pie pan...thin longhorn beef patties, melty cheese and cut into quarters. Pretty good, but not spectacular. The beer battered onion rings, on the other hand, are amazing. Large, hot and super crispy. Two of us had tea, and my brother got the Choctaw beer, which he said was pretty good, but it was in a huge bottle! Keep in mind that you are coming here for the history of the place and the experience of a Meersburger lunch.

I have gone to Meers twice in the past year. The time I went today was only because my mother wanted to go. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes we are standing at the door when a family starts to come out. While the family was exiting a waitress yelled "Close the door!" After another fifteen minutes we get inside to the air condtioning where I decide it was better to play on my phone than to look at the extremely bland wall of licence plates and clattered antique department. We wait inline for another half hour when we are finally seated in an area surrounded by young children, which I usually would not mind, but the seating is close knit and I was back to back with another table even though my family was in the middle of the platform. Once we ordered I was reading the menu which was very passive aggressive and fairly offensive to people who liked mayo or ketchup on their burger rather than mustard. Plus it gave off a "We are the best even when we told we aren't," vibe. Even bashing the judges to a Food Network contest on America's Best Burger. Once we got our food, the burger was fine as was the cobbler that my stepfather ordered, I wouldn't order the pie again. The burger itself is the only reason I gave this place an extra star. If you would rather be treated like cattle instead of eating cattle, then this is definitely the place for you.

I'm so sad that I won't have the opportunity to eat here again anytime soon. One seismic burger could always be shared between my fiance and I. I loved the toppings that were included. The onion rings and fries were always crispy and great accompaniments to our meal. Remember this, save some room for dessert. Everyone goes there for the burgers, but save room for the peach cobbler and homemade ice cream. I still dream about that peach cobbler. The wait and cramped space of the restaurant leaves a little bit to be desired at times, but the food is what kept us coming back! If you're in the Lawton area, definitely stop at Meers for some great food!

They closed early on Saturday (8:30) night after we reviewed their hours on their Website, and the lady at the hostess station treated us very rudely. Love the food, but probably won't return because you should treat customers better, especially ones who drive out of their way.

Best burger I've ever had in my life. Hands down. It's cash only, the seating is cramped, and it's nowhere near close enough to OKC to qualify as a quick outing...but it's oh so worth it. Show up early and don't expect to get your food super quick. Each order is made on the spot, and they're usually packed so expect a little wait before your food comes out. That just means you have a great excuse to order deep fried corn on the cob, Texas toothpicks (cheesy or regular), or some fried green tomatoes to snack on while you wait for your burger glory to appear. The menu details much more about the restaurant than you'd expect. They talk about how using only longhorn beef from their own stock makes for a superior burger. They raise the cows and slaughter them nearby. The meat isn't ground until right before it's served, so you know you're not getting 200 different cows in your patty, and you know that cow came from right down the street. They don't season their meat...which is insane to think about because that is the most flavorful and delicious piece of cow I've ever eaten. Plus, longhorn beef is apparently far healthier for you than typical beef. So it's like it's guilt free! If you have the time, take the scenic route through the Wichita Mountain area. It's a bit out of the way, but if you're going that far for a burger you might as well enjoy the drive.

We waited in the crowded, packed line for 20 minutes so the hostess could tell us that she couldn't seat us since she couldn't see our whole party (it was so crowded in that tight little space so my wife was standing right outside with our baby, waving at her). She then sat a few other people who were behind us in line, and pushed my party back behind the chain. My wife came in and we were sat a table, very annoyed. We were ignored for about 30 minutes and other tables came, were served, then left. We finally placed our order and received our food an hour later when we were beyond starving. Overall, it was an awful experience. Why should I waste 30 minutes to drive out to a restaurant so I can receive terrible service? The burgers are big but not great tasting. So greasy! And the ice cream in the cobbler is the cheapest they could find. I've never had sour ice cream until this place served it to me. In my opinion, this restaurant is past its prime. And the owners and waitstaff don't care about running a restaurant anymore. Please avoid this place so that it can finally be put out of its misery.

Gone down hill alot. Food used to be fast and they were alwsys busy. Not anymore. Prices are sky high there are a number of cleaning violations. Staff is friendly and food is good but cold when we got it. Fries with cheese cold, soggy. Burger was hot. Hot dog, cold and grilled cheese cold. Asked for no veggies on burger got them anyway. They had maybe 10 tables seated and then suppose to be open till 9pm closed at 8 due to lack of customers. The only thing that saves rhem is the burger and the front desk friendliness, waiters NO. and cleaning staff NO. You go to say that you have been there.

Food wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I think it's a bit over priced for the quality of the food. If your looking to get out of town this wouldn't be a bad place to check out. Lots of cool stuff to look at and the peach cobbler is best in town. Ice cream is home made.

I ate here with my family and ordered the 1lb seismic burger. The sides we got were fried green beans, fried okra, and onion rings. All the sides we ordered were very sub-par. I feel like they needed to be salted and seasoned considerably more. The ranch dressing, however, was pretty good. As for the burger, it was a generous amount of food. But, whether or not that satisfies the $14 price point is very debatable. I was a fan of the beef they used though (extra lean and fresh), and that's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. Lastly, the staff was pretty unwelcoming and the dining environment was unusual (I'm not so accustomed to the "traditional", "old school" look that Meers so avidly pursues), and overall I feel like they didn't value our business very much. The waitresses and waiters all looked like they were having a bad day or something. In conclusion, the dine in experience I had was far from excellent. It's upsetting because of how much the place hypes themselves up. To be honest, I'd rather go to five guys over this place any day.

I waited in line about 10 minutes but it was well worth the wait! The Seismic Burger was delicious! Also had peach cobbler for desert with vanilla ice cream on top and the bowl was over flowing! Yum! They only accept cash so bring cash or use the on site ATM.

This historic place is a must visit. A good menu. This is your typical country restaurant. Different size plates, different glasses, writing all of the walls. Worth the drive and worth the wait. The only draw back is they only accept cash. Otherwise, it's a good place.

We make this a destination for lunch. The drive nearby is beautiful. The restaurant isn't much to look at, but has a great feel and the burgers and chili are heaven sent. Be hungry... The burgers are served on a pie plate! Great place for bikers to grandparents.

Lots of reviewers said you come here for the experience. What experience? The building is super old, the floors are uneven, and there are trash everywhere. As far as decor goes, there are a ton of random stuff on the walls - license plates, money, pictures, and mounted animal heads. My friend and I were already in the area so we decided to stop here for lunch. BBQ sounded good so that's what I got. It was decent but I've definitely had better and at a cheaper price. Observations: -drinks come in mason jars -there are kennels outside for your pets -you can order anything on the menu to go -no phone reception -cash only -won't split checks -it's loud inside the restaurant I don't have any desire to come back. The food was average, nothing special.

If you find that you've been temporarily relocated to Altus & are in dire need of something to do over the weekend, this place will burn you several hours! Before you head out, bring cash, be sure to grab a quick snack otherwise you might become pretty hangry if you arrive and the wait is an hour+. (Which I hear is a pretty common wait time at lunch on weekends) But trust me...it'll all be worth it because if you've spent anytime in this part of the country you're desperate for some good food. This place will set you back a pound or five, but since there's not much else to do in the area it can be easily burned off by heading to the gym the following week! We ordered onion rings, frickles, Meers Burgers & the cherry cobbler...all were pretty amazing. The burger wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was huge, filling & tasty. I will say the homemade ice cream and cobbler was incredible and enough to share with at least 4 people. This place is featured in 1,000 Places to Visit Before You Die (U.S/Canada ed.) and worth visiting. It was really rainy the day we visited and the place had several roof leaks and even one area where the ceiling was bulging. I'm not sure how long the building is going to last, so be sure to hurry out and try out this place while it's still around!

We got here at 11AM on a Saturday, no wait and a lot of open seating. It is in the middle of nowhere. The inside had an old country and vintage charm, now let's get straight to the point and talk about some burgers! I really loved the Meersburger. It is their most popular item on their menu. Their beef is made of 97% lean beef and they're grass fed and fresh from their own farm. It really tasted very clean and lean. I enjoyed it!! It does come with mustard, mayo, pickles, and lettuce. I also had the pecan cobbler without the ice cream (I'm lactose intolerant). The cobbler was really good! It wasn't too sweet and it had a lot of pecans! YUMMM! I'm more of a crust and nut kind of girl and this hits the spot! They didn't overdo their filling. :) Overall, great experience! I want to come back again for more meat!

I have no idea what everyone is talking about. I keep hearing how amazing this stuff is. Service was awful, wait was awful and the food was so incredibly bland. Yeah, the place is old, yeah they use free range longhorns. It means nothing if the food has no flavor. The only plus to this place was the mountain of peach cobbler and ice-cream. Not worth the wait, staff and bland food though...

Maybe it is because this place is in the middle of nowhere and so there is no competition but I cannot for the life of me understand the rave reviews here. Service was mediocre at best; the staff seemed inconvenienced by our questions and were less than friendly. They do not like any special requests. I liked the fried pickles (and I don't like pickles!) but the fried peaches were too sickly sweet for me. I ordered the basic Meers burger and while the meat itself had a decent flavor, it lacked seasoning (why can cooks not add salt and pepper?), the bread was stale and frozen and the fries were ho-hum. Serving gigantic portions of food does not a good restaurant make and this is not a good restaurant.

The Meers Store is a different experience, to be sure. From what I've seen below, some folks love it and some folks not so much. We have had good times and good food here, but the trick is to know what you're in for and to plan accordingly. The theme to this review is: EXPECTATION MANAGEMENT. The store has its quirks and makes no attempt to conform to any standard but their own. If that works for you, you'll enjoy it. If you are looking for it to be something it's not, well, you may not enjoy it. The store is the closest place to eat to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, which are a popular weekend destination. That makes the store very popular on weekends. They don't take reservations and only take cash. There: you know that up front now. If you're going during peak hours on the weekend, you're going to have to wait, especially if you have, say, more than 6 people in your group. If you're going during the week, or show up early for lunch on the weekend, you should get right in, even if you have a decent sized group. And if you forget your cash, there is an ATM in the lobby. We have not had a problem with the service any of the times we've been in -- we live maybe 6 miles away, so we've been several times now. We're still used to European service, even though we left Germany in 2009, so we don't expect people to show up every ten seconds and wipe our chins for us. The staff at the Meers Store gets the job done in a busy venue, and they're friendly to you if you're friendly to them. (Go figure.) What about the food and drink? The burgers are great, lean, flavorful. I've yet to have the Seismic Burger, but I look forward to trying it on my next visit. The Meers Gold beer is pretty good, I'd have it again, but it's not God's gift to beer. The appetizers are great, fried green tomatoes are our favorites so far. We plan to try the frickles next And the pecan cobbler is ginormous and delicious. We love the food and will be back again to enjoy it. And we recommend this place to everyone who doesn't need their hand held to enjoy good food.

"Meers" Mining Camp Restaurant is one of the true restaurant treasures we have here in this great country the United States of America! Older than Oklahoma since 1901. Meers is listed on the National Registry of HISTORIC places. The place is OLD indeed! Uneven floor boards is its charm & cant be changed or updated as it is a Historic Building! It is also the only restaurant in the whole United States that serves 100% fresh (never frozen) ground organic grass fed longhorn beef from their OWN herd of longhorns! Farm to table. Let me say that again, locally sourced from their FARM to TABLE! In today's world we have fast food burgers, diner burgers, gourmet burgers, craft burgers the list is endless. But NONE of those burgers can possibly compare to the quality of the longhorn organic fresh ground beef that is leaner and healthier for you period. For starters BEEF comes from old dairy cows that have been fed hormones & antibiotics and we all know that the residue of these chemicals are NOT GOOD for us! And BEEF even organic beef, a 3.5 ounce serving has 20.7 grams of fat when the longhorn organic grass fed all natural beef has only 3.7!!!!! Yes, you know exactly where the Longhorn BEEF comes from and it's 97% LEAN!!! No other restaurant in the whole United States can say that! And for me personally, that is what makes it The BEST! Food network stated the same thing on their show. Bon Appetit Magazine named Meers as one of America's top restaurant and it has been consistently in the top 10 best burgers in America year after year. Meers is located right smack in the middle of the Wichita Mountain wildlife refuge. It's miles and miles from any city. Btw, Carly N. It's in a giant COW & BUFFALO PASTURE Girl! Lol The reason there is no wifi and phone reception is bc there is only a dial up connection available. That's why it's CASH only! Duh! There is a cash machine but it is also on the dial up and it takes like 20 mins to get it to work. They don't split checks bc it's CASH ONLY!!! Work that out amongst yourselves Duh! The cowgirls that work here will be more than happy to make change for all y'all! These ladies work very hard out here in the country and with only a population of 380 year round they appreciate your tips and kindness as its their only seasonal income and cowgirls like bling too! Be kind to your servers or they might stomp a mud-hole in your arse and walk it dry with those boots! Lol With no phone reception and wifi y'all are screwed! Lol (wink) So, if y'all want a craft burger/fancy pants burger like with pretzel buns, foie gras, fried shallot, and cranberry fennel aioli please stay in the city with your high heels, high standards & high flutin tootin attitudes these cowgirls & cowboys don't know nutin bout that "foodie" crap. I been a gourmet chef for 25 years and I never once heard anyone jump up in the mornin and say "omg I have to have that burger with the foie gras" lol But, if you want fantastic American grub, a real American cowboy & Indian "experience" in the only restaurant in the whole USA that serves farm to table kick ass burgers & beer, especially local made MUSTANG beer that is made from Oklahoma grain! WOO HOP HOO! (drink a 6 pack of those and ya might wake up naked next to the creek in a fire ant bed wit temporary memory loss lol) Anyhoo, ya'll dust off yer cowboy boots, throw on yer oldest pair of Levi's & ride on over! As long as ya got the grace of God in yer heart, cash in yer pocket and no cow crap on yer boots yer mighty welcome at this fine historic establishment! I was just there for the weekend and had a few Meers burgers when this military guy from Ft. Sill was talking to the cashier about how great the burgers are and that the original Meers burger is not even on the menu! The really good one is the "seismic" burger but dressed with just lettuce tomato pickle onion not all the other stuff. Just a regular topped "seismic" is called a "prospector" It's a full one pound when the regular Meers burger is 1/2 pound. So depending on how hungry you are. The giant buns are made especially for them and they are delish! The "frickles"(bread & butter fried pickles) are amazballs! The chicken fried steak, amazballs! And if you drive all the way here you better NOT leave this place without trying the COBBLER!!!! It's triple threat Amazballs! They make their own homemade ice cream that is a rich & creamy "experience" from the heavens!!! Also, The blues festival is going on in medicine park Labor Day weekend & the flute festival is the last weekend in September. Put THIS on your bucket list!! See you there!

Meers burger was really good. One of the best burgers I have had. Fries not so good. Service was average. We went on a Sunday night at about 6 and had to wait for about 15 minutes. Place was hopping. It's not much to look at from the outside; with the cats roaming around and the flies flying around - if we hadn't driven out of our way an insane number of hours we may have lost our appetite. The inside has a lot of character.

Here is a tip, if the line is out the door prepare yourself for a long wait. Ours was 1 hour and 45 minutes. Then we waited another 30 minutes for cold and mediocre beef brisket. One thing is for sure, they service up plenty of waiting. My recommendation is turn the car around and go to Medicine Park for your dinning pleasure. I won't make this mistake next time I go to Mount Scott.

I had been meaning to check this place out for a while, I had been to the Wichita Mountain area before but had never gone inside to eat there, it is on the corner of the end of the road leading out of the wildlife refuge in the area, when you walk in you are greeted by this long stair ramp like thing that leads to the top of the restaurant, there was a line to my surprise so we had to wait for our seat, and a huge thing to remember about this place it is CASH ONLY So... me and my friend get to the of the place and were told to go to another room, we walked into the other room and we had assumed we were in the dinning room as we saw there was dinning chairs, much to our surprise we were NOT in the dining room yet, we were in a holding room waiting on a a table to open up! It wasn't too much longer though they called our names for our table The place is what I would define as rustic... gives you that old miner kinda feeling to it, old signs everywhere, wooden floors, chairs, tables, etc, a head of a longhorn cow is in 1 room I was told there was a buffalo burger offered at this establishment but to much surprise I did not see it on the menu! What was another thing I did know about however was a 16 oz burger that is uniquely cut into 4 sections, I did order a burger however I did not order the mammoth size that this place has become known for When you order you also order sides individually so you there are no "combo" meals so to speak, I ordered a side of cheese potatoe wedges, I also ordered a coke which comes in a Mason jar! Something much appreciated since it was a hot day! The condiments and "napkins" were a interesting offering... they were in a metal wire cage like contraption that served well for holding things in place, the "napkins" were actually paper towers stuck on a wood pool for you to roll off for however much you needed. One thing that was awkward was the placement of our table, it was on a uneven side of the wood floor where it started to slope, so my chair felt like it was going to fall at some points, but I kept my balance Now the most important part of my review... food quality.... to be honest... the food quality was ok, was nothing super special to be honest, and that was kind of a disappointment given this places reputation, I was expecting this place to be a awesome/fresh tasting burger and dont get me wrong it was not bad, but it didnt blow me out of the water. The potatoe wedges with cheese fries were okay as well... but again didnt blow me away As a previous poster mentioned... this is a once in a lifetime experience... you go there cause it looks fun from the outside and is unique looking... but would you go back for the food quality? That is up to the person I suppose, but I most likely will not

Wow, it lives up to the hype! The burger was great, HUGE, well prepared and full of flavor. I love that they use long horn beef they raise...it's so much leaner too!! I sort of splurged while I was up there, I'll admit. I think my husband was in shock when I told him I wanted to order the peach cobbler w/ ice cream! As many of you know, I'm a personal trainer and fitness competitor, but HELL I'M"M HUMAN TOO, sometimes a girl just wants dessert, damn it! LOL Well, I think I bit off more than I could chew with that one!! A huge, and I mean HUGE bowl filled w/ hot homemade peach cobbler comes to the table w/ a MOUNTAIN of their homemade vanilla ice cream. That thing was bigger than my head! After the burger, I wondered if I'd have room, but let's face it...don't we all have a separate stomach for dessert. Well, obviously I did that day! Though we didn't finish it, we ate about half. I was sort of sad, cause I wanted to bring it home w/ us, but it turned into a soupy combo of what was left of the cobbler and melted ice cream. It was so good, even though you were ready to be rounded out of that place, you still wanted more. I was thankful I went hiking and paddle boating that morning...cause I must have eaten a day's worth of calories there, but so worth it. It's definitely worth the drive and stop out there. It's fun, it has great history, and though nothing fancy, well done food doesn't need a fancy place for you to sit in to enjoy a great meal!! I'd love to go back to try their BBQ, and since we're here for another year, I'm sure I'll venture out that way again.

I've came here several times since my childhood, so this place is nostalgic for me. The food is great, but the last time I came here, I wanted to show this place off to my boyfriend from Texas. We got the rudest waitress I've ever had, a thin, older blonde lady. She seemed to purposely ignore us, while happily doting on the couple at the table next to us for reasons unknown to us. We waited an unusually long time for our drinks, and even longer for our order (in which the fries we ordered did not come until after we had finished our burgers). It was not busy when we were there at all. Our waitress had only 3 tables to wait upon (for a total of 8 customers). Also, she ignored us each time we tried to get her attention to get drink refills.....so no refills on our tea. I was so embarrassed to have bragged how great this place was, only to have the worst service imaginable. Our only retaliation was to leave no tip, and to just say goodbye to the Meers that used to be, but is no more. I'm sad to say, I won't be back to the one burger place that once had always been a highlight to my trips to Lawton.

I don't understand the hype about this place. People only come here & think its good because its an icon that's been around for years. Not because its actually good. My hubs is at Ft Sill for 6 months so we were told to come try this place out. We went all out..got the jalapeño popper appetizer, got the seismic burger with fries, and peach cobbler with ice cream. I only ate 2 poppers because they lacked any flavor. When the obnoxiously large burger came out, I only ate one quarter because it was so bad. There comes a point when you throw so much stuff on a burger that it becomes too much & not delicious. The fries were soggy & cold. The peach cobbler was actually pretty good (hence the reason why it got 2 stars) but they smother it with waaaaay to much ice cream & ruin it. I would never come back here!! I would much rather just have a Braum's burger. Or hell, I'd also rather have a Wendy's burger!

Overrated is one description of this place. It's not exactly close to Lawton, they do not accept credit/debit cards and the food is hit or miss. The seismic burger is okay but overcooked and the beef seems crumbled. Cobbler was good, not great. Wait times can be long depending on when you go. The atmosphere is kind of dumpy in a bad way. I guess if you're in the area, this would be a decent place to eat at so you could say you ate there. But if you live around the area, I wouldn't make it a habit. I lived in Lawton for about 1.5 years and went here a few times mostly because that's where the group decided to go. Brought my wife here because she saw something about it on TV. In terms of burger quality/freshness, I have had better burgers at Fuddruckers and other chains.

The burger was much better quality than the fast food chains that's for sure. But wasn't spectacular. What I loved was the dessert! Their Peach Cobbler with ice cream is to die for! Highly recommend!

Beer update: after chilling in the refrigerator for a couple of days I decided to pop the top and give it a shot. it was amazingly good. I like wheat beers and this is one of the great ones. It is not a pretty beer it has a cloudy appearance and almost no head. I poured it into a pilsner glass. There is not a funky aftertaste which a lot of microbrews have. I would recommend this beer to everyone (over 21 yrs old) and will probably buy a bunch of it next time I am in the area.

Horrible!! Horrible service!! Horrible attitudes!! Should have known that the servers are horrible and the owner is horrible when I read the explanation for the change in buns and the owner blames it in the President?!?! Really? Great food, horrible service and attitudes. Also, cash only business? Why not take some of your non-taxed cash income that you're skimming off the top to buy better buns and keep the politics out of the burger business! NOT KID FRIENDLY!

I first heard about The Meers Store from a coworker. He said he had the best burger in this place in Meers Oklahoma while stationed at Ft. Sill. I said sounds great, how long ago was that. He said 31 years, What! That place won't still be there. Sure enough, I checked on Yelp and it was! This place has been around since 1901. OMG. That is pretty impressive. All I have to say is, Holy seismic burger!! This is 160z of pure goodness topped with bacon, cheese and condiments. Meers has it all: Location - check - out in the middle of nowhere backed up to a wildlife preserve Ambiance - check - over 109 years old with crooked creaky floors and old signs Food - best burger I have personally eve eaten. If you are ever lucky enough to be in the area, this is worth the drive.

This is right up my alley and my favorite burger in the US! It is a dive burger joint in the middle if nowhere. About an hour and 15 mins from Altus but worth the drive for dessert alone. It can be a lengthy wait for tables at times but I've apparently had good luck and been seated with 5-10 mins. I highly recommend fried green tomatoes, any burger "cowboy" style, homemade peach cobbler with homemade ice cream. You will stuffed! The menu will have some history and explain cowboy style and some other humorous burger styles. They grow their own longhorn cattle and grind the burger meat fresh in kitchen. I will hopefully be back a few more times! Cash only but they have an ATM on site.

I've procrastinated writing this review because, honestly, I think I wanted to avoid any backlash from my friends whom I was stationed with at Fort Sill for nearly a year, and whom I would join at Meers on a very regular basis. Now that Uncle Sam has seen fit to scatter us across the globe, I can share my disappointment openly. Hello, my name is Tim and I'm a foodie... more accurately, I'm a gourmand. Not to be snobbish, but I know what truly amazing food is; and more importantly, I know what it is not. The meers burger is not. You want to blow me away with a burger? Try creating something you might find in the recipe book at cheeseandburger.com Those are amazing burgers. Instead of ruining the experience for everyone, I chose to withhold complaint, as my friends enjoyed their burgers to no end. Meers' saving grace was the cobblers. I did have that to look forward to, after suffering through a burger equal in caliber to a White Castle slider... only much, much bigger. The only way I'll go back to Meers is if I happen to be at Fort Sill with the same crew again, and we decide to go back for old time's sake. Otherwise, I'm content knowing I've already checked that box.

This is a place to try at least once for the experience. It's up in the Wichita mountains in what was once a gold-mining "town". The "town" consists of 3-4 attached buildings, several of which are occupied by Meers. It can be kind of difficult to find so take your GPS! Definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. Inside you'll walk across uneven floors, up and down stairs, up a ramp, etc - you can really tell it's an old building. I've been 3 or 4 times and always got the Meers Cheese Burger. They do have other dishes but I've never tried them. The burger is huge and very good. The beef is apparently raised by the owner and grass-fed, which is pretty cool seeing as how we city-folk usually don't know where our food comes from. Because the cows are grass-fed, the meat is pretty lean and doesn't have a lot of fat/juice. So it may not be your thing if you like thick juicy burgers. The food comes out on tin plates and the tea comes in mason jars. Overall, Meers is a great experience with delicious food!

If you don't live near this place don't waste your time!! my boyfriend and I decided to make a day trip of it on the Harleys. we were coming from Dallas so it was a very long ride we got there early but there was already a line and I think we waited about 45 minutes to an hour to get seated. my boyfriend ordered the Meers burger and I ordered the barbecue plate.. my ribs were dry tough and inedible so I call the waitress over to send them back she instantly got an attitude which I could not understand because I'm not paying $15 for a plate that I can't even eat. I was already discussed at that point so I told her to just bring me a Meers burger.. she came back about 4 minutes later and I swear this so called burger had pieces of meat on there that look like scraps that had fallen off other patties on the grill, it wasn't even a full patty!WTF! needless to say I called her back again and told her that this was unacceptable I sent it back I left hungry and disgusted she was rude she didn't apologize and I will never ever drive that far to eat at a restaurant again.. this place sucks and it wasn't worth the drive or the time that we waited in line and that waitress shouldn't even be working in that position because if I didn't care about going to jail I would have whooped her ass!! you get better burgers and service at Whataburger!

Like many others on here I heard about Meers because: a. it was featured on the Food Network, for b. raising their own longhorns to serve in the very old store and restaurant I'm glad I experienced the whole Meers thing, but I can honestly say you aren't missing anything. The beef really is great, but is proudly: a. unseasoned b. cooked to medium well (they will not ask for a preferred temp and the menu says essentially, "don't bother asking.") c. formed into a flat, wide patty. A standard Meersburger is a quarter inch thick and about six plus inches in diameter. d. served with iceberg, tomato, pickle, raw onion, mustard, period. If you're comparing the experience to fast food it's mind-blowing. But I wasn't comparing it to that. I drove considerably out of the way to hit this joint. To me, if you're going to use meat that good and that local DO SOMETHING with it. The whole point of using crazy fresh ingredients is to take a normal simple dish, like a hamburger, and make it something fit for the gods. I don't grow my own kale to eat it raw out of the garden and I wouldn't serve it that way to a guest and expect anything other than a "you want me to eat that?" look on their face. So, basically, don't go out of your way. But, if for some reason you're in the middle of nowhere and hungry, it's better than Burger King.

We love going to Meers simply for the drive out and the atmosphere! They have the BEST PEACH COBBLER W/ ICE CREAM EVER!!!!!many times that's all we get! The cobbler is warm, gooey, a and has a pie crust consistency. The ice cream creamy and delicious!! The portion is enormous!!! The burgers are good, but I like mayo on my burger and they use Miracle Whip. I can't stand it!! My husband had a steak one time and it was amazing!!

Went here this weekend after having heard that these burgers are world famous. The restuarant is made up of several very old saloon style buildings together. While this may not sound like a place you want to eat, the old-school style actually contributes to the experience. I will say one very important thing, IT IS CASH ONLY. We didn't know this when we went (luckily we had it covered) but we saw a couple in front of us leave because they were unaware of this policy. The woman at the front desk informed us and pointed to a very small and easily overlooked piece of looseleaf that stated such. To start we ordered Frickles (fried pickles) for the table. Honestly, this made the meal for me. The burger was good - the pickles may have been even better. They are sweet pickles in a perfectly non-greasy dough. They are crunchy, sweet, tart, and spicy all at the same time. I'd highly reccomend trying them. We also tried the fried jalepeno poppers which were decent - I'm unsure what they were stuffed with, possibly beans, but they were not spicy enough and I like my popper to have more cheese. The burgers are made of farm grown longhorn beef and are 97-98% fat free, they are delicious, and leave behind no greasy fingers. I got a standard cheesemeers burger. It was beef, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, mustard, and sweet pickles on a bun. it is served cut in fours on a tin tray. All of the non-alcoholic drinks are served with free refills, the lemonade is delicious. However the drink that stole the spotlight was the micro-brew they serve exclusively. It is a 22oz beer called meers gold. It is light and delicious - i highly reccomend it. This restaurant is not a crowd-pleaser because of its ambience or service, neither of those things are great, however, they don't need to be when dealing with such delicious burgers!

We have made the 1.5 hour drive to Meers a few times before, and always thought the food was great and enjoyed the experience. However, after my trip today I will probably not be back. Despite there being no line, we still waited behind a chain for a while before we were seated. A not-very-friendly hostess pointed us to "that four top over there" instead of walking us to our table, which caused confusion as the restaurant wasn't very crowded and there were several open tables. Other guests were seated this way as well. Our food came out pretty quickly and our waitress was great and attentive. My burger however was very uneven- Meers burgers are cut into quarters, and the meat on mine had slid so far over before it was cut that one quarter had almost no meat on it. Other than that the burger was alright. The fries had no salt or seasoning, but the ranch dressing was very good. When it came time to check out, we again encountered the rude hostess, who informed us that they did not split checks. This is already in a restaurant that ONLY accepts cash payment and we had to walk up to the register to pay, so I'm not sure why she couldn't split the check at the register, as there were only three of us in the group. We awkwardly had to figure out how to divide amongst ourselves since most of us only had $20 bills, in the way of guests trying to be seated, as that is how the restaurant is arranged. Overall, the restaurant had a very unwelcoming feel- no Coke or Pepsi, no sweet tea, no credit/debit/checks, no split checks, a single-stall, dingy restroom, and a hostess that could have not cared less about our business. In the restaurant's attempt to be "old fashioned" it is out of date and out of touch, and there are better burgers closer to where we live.

I've been considering this review for a while and how I felt I should handle writing about such an institution in Southwest Oklahoma. Since I was a kid, a trip to Meers was considered to be a treat at the end of a long day of hiking in the refuge. Unfortunately, despite possessing very good beef (for those with an inclination for leaner beef anyway), the numerous shortcomings of the restaurant make me feel an obligation to steer people away. The major problems with the Meer Store come as a direct results of their success. After experiencing years of praise and business from tourism, they fail to recognize even the basics of customer service. As many of the previous reviews mention, service can often be slow and impersonal. Don't even try and make a custom order, I've never ordered a burger without the standard toppings and successfully received my order. This kind of unflinching character of the menu might fly in a more gourmet restaurant where a chef truly crafts each dish, but at Meers, the menu is so basic the failure to give the customer what they request comes across as poor and lazy. Also, the restaurant refuses to split a check, even with a party of two. This strikes me as possibly the most self-interested behavior I've ever encountered among restaurant management. As someone who has worked in food service, I can understand the slight inconvenience, but Meers' failure to adapt reflects only a undeserved pretentiousness. Simply put, the customer is not important to their operation. I don't want to be completely dismissive of the service. On a personal level, I found my server to be friendly and generally pleasant, if stretched-thin. As far as the food goes, everything but the actual beef in the burger can be considered strictly average. The two stars are a result of the novelty of going and the longhorn. People will continue going to Meers because of the "experience." And for this reason, the issues addressed in this review will not change. However, if you're not set on a visit to Meers, you can do just as well elsewhere.

After hiking all day, we really enjoyed the burgers and the beer at Meers. I was told it was featured on the Food Network for having the nation's best burgers and they were right. Served on a pie plate, the burger is already cut into fours so that you can actually fit it into your face. The meat comes from local longhorn that isn't treated with antibiotics and feed a healthy diet etc. The closest thing I could compare it to would be really good quality Kobe beef that was fresh and not overcooked. The meat almost fell apart while you ate it because it was so tender and juicy. The fries were okay, but the beer they claim to make with some native american recipe was amazing. It was light and hoppy with a flavor that allows you to enjoy the beer just for the taste. We also ordered coconut cream pie which was huge, fluffy and delicious. Remember, cash only!

The burgers at Meers are amazing! The sizemic burger is enough for two adults or four small children. If you visit try the fried green tomatoes! You won't be sorry that you did. The fried green beans are very tasty. I will say that my family is not overly fond of the BBQ selection or the sides that comes with the BBQ, but we love the burgers, most of the appetizers, and the desserts. This place is one of our Lawton favorites!

We've been to Meers before and enjoyed meal, which is why we decided to slog out the hour drive there again on a Friday night. We weren't sure we'd make it before closing, but the website assured us they were open until 9 on Fridays and Saturdays. So, when we got there at 8:42, we thought we were good to go - a little tight, but well within their posted hours. We entered the restaurant with 2 starving children in tow, and were told they were closed. When I showed the gal at the front desk their website's posted hours, the reply was "yeah, we've been meaning to fix that." This would not have been a big deal in a area packed with other dining options, but Meers is hardly that. We narrowly squeaked into Ann's Kitchen, the sole other option, with 5 mins to spare and the kids pretty vocal about their need for immediate sustenance. Luckily, the staff at Ann's was cheerful and the food plentiful and good. Meers - either fix your website NOW, or keep the hours you're advertising.

After hearing rave reviews from friends, I was very anxious to try Meers when in the area. I was sorely disappointed by our experience. The inside is cute, decorated very quaint & old-fashioned. I like the way they serve drinks- in huge mason jars. While browsing the menu, I spotted that they didn't take cards. I understand they're trying to keep it authentic & everything, but at least put an ATM outside of your restaurant. We told our waitress that we didn't have cash, so my husband & his friend would be leaving to go get some. She suggested we go ahead & order so we did, assuming she would understand not to bring the food out until they were back. Our food was out within 10 minutes of my husband being gone, so my friend & I just sat there with four plates of food for a good 40 minutes (oh yes, the closest ATM is nearly a 40 minute round trip drive!) I got a simple Meers cheeseburger, and while it was certainly decent, it was nothing special by any stretch of the imagination. The fries were downright disgusting- cold the minute the waitress set them on our table, and had an odd green/brown tint to them, and were rock hard. They tasted pretty much like what you'd expect a month-old fry you found under your car seat to taste like. Their "frickles" were the best part of the experience, for me. They were the best fried pickles I have ever had (and I love me some fried pickles, y'all.) They were made with bread & butter pickles and the breading was sort of spicy- a different, yet awesome taste. Also, my husband & I split their pecan cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream for dessert and it was delicious, and huge. So big we couldn't even finish half. Despite their frickles & cobbler, I don't think I will be returning to Meers. Disappointing, because I really, really wanted to like it. P.S. No sweet tea?! What?!

Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. They use their own herd of longhorn steer for the meat so it is very lean and clean. The sides were quite good as well. Had the beer battered onion rings, stuffed jalapeños and cheesy potato wedges. No complaints. Their signature beer was also a great complement to the meal and I highly recommend it if you appreciate a good beer. Just eat it

As mentioned by Jeremy S, it is a love/hate kind of place. It's dirty, old, and crowded. You go there more for the experience I suppose. I went there on May 28 (Memorial Day) and it was ridiculously crowded. I had eaten here before probably 20 years ago, so this was basically just like the first time again. After standing outside in the 90 degree weather for 40 minutes (listening to LOUD Harley Davidson bikes), and another 25 minutes in line inside, we finally got sat at a table. There is nothing fancy about this place. Dust is all over the ceiling and pillars. The floors are old and slanted. The chairs don't match at the tables. The list goes on and on. If you can get past all that, you are in for a pretty good burger. Is it as good as everyone says? I don't really think so. It's good, but nothing special. It's somewhat pricey for what you get, but not overly. The fries are your standard fry. Nothing remarkable about them. I am not sure how this place became so popular. I do like that they raise their own beef, and it's all organic or whatever their tagline is but it doesn't get them a pass on the fact that it was just "good". Maybe I was expecting to much. All in all, it makes for a good day. Go by Meers, have some lunch. Head up Mt. Scott, go swim at Medicine Park. It's all the experience in my opinion, and for that, I give them 3 stars.

Honestly the worst restaurant experience my family has ever had. Waited in a long line (no problem). We went with another couple and their child. The sticky menus and flies buzzing on the "salad bar" were on my mind, I tried to ignore them. Asked to split the check, got snarled at by the extremely rude waitress (if we hadn't driven an hour to eat here we would have left at this point. My daughter then got stabbed by a nail sticking out of the wall at our booth. I just kept thinking there has got to be a reason this place is so highly regarded right? It wasn't, my steak was steak..nothing amazing, the hamburger my friend had was a flat pressed hamburger. The place is absolutely filthy, dive bar filthy, horrible service, ok food. Never again.

OK, I think this will be a longer post because the Meer's Store and Restaurant was the last stop in my quest to eat every burger from the film Hamburger America (based on the book of the same name). So let me describe my experience chronologically. I veered off-track 150 miles (75 miles off I-40, 75 miles getting back) on my cross-country trip. The ranch is really in the middle of nowhere. I did not realize they did not accept credit cards. I had to pay by check. Be advised, if you lack cash or checks, you shall be driving 10 miles back to "civilization" to find an ATM. Nevertheless, I was still excited. I was completing my quest. Well at least I was proud. At Dyers (Memphis) the girls behind the counter chatted me up, and were personable. Even if they were faking interest in my quest, I still felt happy to be there. The staff at Meer's were just grossly disinterested. I wasn't in your face, but they still seemed unhappy that I was there. And the eyeroll I got when I made the girl walk 20 feet to buy their t-shirt was wonderful. So I got my burger and went outside to eat it. Some other yelper have noted the kennels outside. I have not seen mention of the pack of feral cats lolling about outside. These cats will eventually steal 1/2 of my burger. It happened like so: I opened my Styrofoam box containing the burger and began eating 1/4 of it. It was ok as a burger. Comparing it to the other 7 of my quest, it was mediocre. Well, as I was eating the first piece, a kitten jumps on the table and starts sniffing at my food. I shoo her and pick-up my second piece. Once I do this, I realize I am surround now by two more, larger cats. Again, the kitten makes for my burger. I shoo her. But this time, as I am shoo-ing and distracted, one of the larger cats steals a 1/4 of the burger and runs off. Shocked and watching the bravado of this cat, the second large cat runs off with my remaining 1/4. I was essentially conned by wilily felines. I will try to upload pictures of this. Anyway, Meer's Store. Not worth 150 miles. Burger three stars, but with overall experience, two.

The Burgers are what everyone says that you have to eat when you come to Meers Store. For me.. Its the Peach Cobbler and home made vanilla ice cream. I have gone several times and just ordered dessert. Im not really into the fried food scene so I rarely order the sides.

I love finding unique places to eat that aren't chain locations. Now I would've never found this place if it weren't for the suggestion of a friend. But I'm really glad that I did. Meers is kind of out of the way. But the drive to it is relaxing and actually reminded me of a country drive through Colorado. Who would've known that there were mountains in Oklahoma?!? The burgers are amazing. 7+ inches round. They serve it in 1/4ths. It's kind of like eating 4 oversized sliders from White Castles. But this burger is much, much better. The best part is that the Meers folks (all 4 or 5 of them) are friendly and excited to engage in a conversation with you. Plus, it's not that expensive either! My buddy and I only spent about $10 each for dinner. Dare I say its better than In-and-Out burger? I think it is. I'm kind of glad I don't live closer, I'd probably eat here way too much. And while it's a great place to eat, its not really the type of place that would be great for one's waistline. A solid 5 stars...Worth the drive.

So I have spent the last 30 minutes reading reviews of this place on multiple sites, and I have concluded that you will either love this place or hate it. I loved it! The place is a dive. It is old with slanted floors and obnoxious signs. If that bothers you, then you probably will be put off by this place. While a little run down, I did not find the place dirty. The place is busy. If you don't want to wait, then try getting there early or during off times. I had spent the morning hiking in the Wichita Mountains. I was starving and waited over an hour. I didn't complain. The service is not amazing, but the women are busy. The place is packed, and they deal with hungry, short customers. I found if you smiled, said thank you, and put out good vibes, the servers would reciprocate. I enjoyed my server. Finally the food. A lot of people think the burgers here are dry and tasteless. But this is not Meers's fault. Their burger is 97% lean Longhorn steer. It is unsalted. If you don't think the burger is good, it is probably a consequence of eating fatty, over salted, hormone-injected beef from cheap American fast food restaurants. I loved my Seismic Meersburger. It was huge, and I definitely stuffed myself. I wish I had saved room for dessert. I did have the Meers Beer, and I found it a great compliment to the burger. Lastly, bring cash. They do not accept credit or debit cards, and there is no ATM. The accept checks, but they say only from banks they know/trust. Out-of-towners should probably have cash. They will also not split a check. If you are a picky individual with taste buds shot by terrible, cheap, American food DO NOT EAT HERE. If you are willing to try a burger the way it used to be back in the days of the cowboy, made the way it was before capitalism made meat a cheap mix of hormones, fillers, and antibiotics then go here and enjoy it.

Don't bother to buy into the gimmick of this place. The burgers may be "big" but they are pitifully thin. The place is filthy and disgusting and the wait staff is beyond rude. We waited in line one spring Saturday afternoon for over an hour. outside and had heard it was great so we stayed. The grease and filth in the dinning room was so appalling we almost left, but hey Triple D had been here so it should have a clean kitchen right. I am still amazed we didn't all get sick. Don't drive our of your way unless you want to be treated rudely and eat a really bad burger. Altus has two burger joints that put this place to shame and we are talking Altus.

I was remiss for not reviewing Meer's when I was on my trip. a) Not only locally raised beef, these are their own cattle which they slaughter and butcher themselves so that they can grind exactly the right blend for their burgers. b) A carefully selected combination of garnish and condiments intended to work _with_ the flavor of meat they have crafted, not smother it. c) I love venues that do one thing well and stick to it instead of trying to be all things to all people. d) Fried pickles. Your world is not complete until you try these. Meer's has ruined me on burgers _FOREVER_. I may literally never order another burger anywhere else ever again. What would be the point? It will just fill me with longing for that ramshackle, crooked venue at the end of a highway in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma. Even without Meer's the local scenic drives are well worth the trip. You can start in Wichita Falls and make it to Amarillo in a reasonable amount of time by taking all the scenic ways from one to the other, which takes you not only through gorgeous countryside, but also to various curiosities like the "Holy City" -- and Meer's ! If you ever do an Americana style road trip, find a way to make Meer's part of your event.

Excellent food. The servers are attentive. My husband has a gluten allergy and the staff was very careful to make his burger without coming into contact with anything that might have contained gluten. Don't be taken aback by the rough exterior. This place is packed all the time. Get there early or be prepared to wait. The desserts are delicious and I highly recommend the cobbler. Be sure to take cash though as they do not accept credit/debit cards. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would.

Meers hails from regional (also national given its rave Food Network reviews) fame. Locals faces light up when describing this hidden gem (seriously it's off the beaten path) which is truly an experience. Location and décor reminiscent of a scary deserted western ghost town, complete with 10 black cats roaming the premises. Drinks are served in Mason jars and the hamburgers are very large and unapologetically messy. The burgers are good (but by no means a life chancing experience as some said) super lean, and messy. I had the cheeseburger - I was not as brave as my dining companions, many of whom shared the rather large Seismic Burger. I also had the cherry cobbler and homemade ice cream for dessert and should really be shared between two or three people. Alas, Meers only takes cash and in this technological age, I find it hard to really like a place that doesn't want to make my life easy and just swipe my Visa. Also they don't split checks making reconciling the bill for large parties even more problematic for cashphobes like myself.

I don't know how this joint in the middle of nowhere was discovered but I am glad it was. I went there after couple of hours of hiking in the Wichita Mountains. Totally starved, saving myself for a Meersburger. It was so worth it! The burger is juicy, filled with all the extras and big enough to feed to 2 hungry people. Wait, It doesn't end there! Try the beer battered onion rings and best thing of all; Peach Cobbler and homemade ice-cream! In portions big enough to feed 4 people. Don't forget to order them separately since I guarantee you won't be able to finish it, you can take your peach cobbler at least in take-out. I still have some sitting in the fridge! :)

There's not much left to say after the reviews I have read, but I will do my best to tastefully convey my disappointment. My family and I drove 150 miles just to have one of these nostalgic burgers. Upon are arrival this is what we encountered. 1.) They do not accept debit/ nor do they split tickets between parties.( Inconvenient!) 2.) No one greeted us when we walked in, they just shouted seat yourself wherever...and when we did seat ourselves, we were told to move. 3.) Our waitress had no personality at all. No greeting, no smile, no "is this your first time here" 4.) Paper Menus that are not laminated and have nasty food all over them, cluttered and almost unreadable 5.) Nothing comes with sides. 6.) My mom and I ordered the Sizmatic burger to split... listed at a whopping 1lb $12.95 when we got it I was sorely disappointed. There is no way that was a pound of meat. The #5 I order at Whataburger is bigger. It was so greasy, the tomatoes were soggy, lettuce (what lettuce) pieces of onion canned jalapenos, and the worst part all of our burgers were cold my cheese didn't even melt. The cheap buns ripped as soon as you lifted the burger.I had to search for my one piece of bacon which was under cooked and see through. 7.) Don't expect homemade fries...YUP frozen flavorless string fries at 3.95 for a regular size. 8.) It was dirty. From the bathroom to the tables. 9.)The only thing that saved this from a total disaster was the homemade ice cream and the peach cobbler. It was delicious and a nice size/ I also thought the tea in the mason jars were cute. Over all I believe Meers used to be a fine institution but someone has changed the way it was run. It must have been great at once or so I've heard and I hope that it will be once again.

When it comes to a "burger joint", this place is truly as good as it gets! The Meers Burger - especially when paired with their Meers' Gold Beer" - is so increedibly succulent that you want to kiss the owner and simply thank him for owning/creating such a unique treasure. The establishment is old, super old, and has just enough grime to add to its authenticity.

If you are coming to Oklahoma, or maybe flying to the west or east coast, you should probably fly into OK City or Lawton and rent a car and drive out to Meers for this singular dining experience. If fact, for the total American Experience, if you are already living in the States, or if you are just visiting the continent, will not be complete without eating here. Yep, the floors are board and uneven and creaky. The antique seismograph goes pretty slow but as far as I know has always been accurate. The burgers are great, and the whole menu is on the hokey folksy side. There may be a line to wait in. Legendary, historic place, the Meers Store. Don't expect perfect or big city speed. Ain't no haute cuisine. You might definitely have to get over yourself on several levels, if you are expecting lightning speed. If you can't enjoy regional charm, the sometimes backward and humble? Stick to your P.F. Chang-a-lang crap and all that pre-fab glitz at the Cheesecake Factory. This place is the opposite from all that billion dollar flash. Hang around a few days, drive over to Medicine Park. A herd of buffalo may decide walk out on the two lane & stand still for 15 minutes. Think of that while you are waiting on your BBQ at the Meers store, where the cooks offer up some fine details that take a little time.

Went with a large group at dinner time, wait looked super long but was only about 15-20min. Ordered the meers burger and it was pretty good, tasted a bit gamey to me but a little salt took care of that. The best part was the peach cobbler, I don't even like cobbler but this was amazing! As stated below cash only, if in this area again I will be back! Very good food and neat experience.

Ate here after graduating Basic Training at Ft Sill. Place looks like a hole-in-the-wall (which i love). had the Seismic Meersburger which was 1 pound of grassfed beef glory. great burger, great service. Also recommend the onion rings and he homemade cobbler with actual homemade ice cream on top. heres the fair warning, portions are pretty large here, you get a lot for the money, so ya better be hungry. If you're in this area, you have gotta hit up Meer's. Oh, and also, they ONLY accept cash!

This is a fun atmosphere, and a great place to bring people who have never been. The burgers are good and big. I agree, they might not be the worlds best burger, but it's a fun place and you go here for atmosphere and fun with a group of people. They are good burgers, don't get me wrong, and they are really tasty without any fillers or seasoning. I'll be going back again. Oh! The fried pickles are good and thick, and huge portions.

Awesome burger. Awesome burger. Perfect treat after camping at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. The Longhorn beef was so good, I ate my burger with no dressing. I believe it's the only restaurant around supplied by their own herd. My beer? Oh, my beer brewed by an instate brewer followed an unfiltered Choctaw recipe. How cool is that? And I'll say like everyone else, save room for the cobbler with homemade ice cream! Cool fact is they serve RC cola. They have remained loyal to RC since the days Coke and Pepsi wouldn't travel out there to supply them.

We were up in Oklahoma for a day trip. After strolling around two parks, we were hungry. I pulled up "food Ft. Lawton" on my phone and the first thing was this place. My companion said that he'd been told by others that he had to try a Meers burger. So we traveled the very short distance to Meers. Wow. It is very easy to find but the parking is ... adventuresome. Make sure you check three ways before trying to cross the street. Expect a wait. We had a 20 minute wait in line to be able to rest our bones in the waiting area. They did offer free lemonade or tea while waiting. It's a bit close so if you are claustrophobic, you may want to wait outside and let your party call you when they are seated. If you are so lucky as to get a signal, that is. I finally got one but I had to stand on one foot, cross my eyes, tug my ear twice and spit into the wind. Cell hell. But I digress. The place is a 19th century early 20th century mining camp. It is quaint in its disarray. Old pictures, new business cards, slanted floors and tables thrown in here and there make this a feast for the magpie eye. There's even a quake-meter there which I found fascinating. The service was pretty good. Our wait was prompt even when slammed but she did not bring out the appetizer we ordered. I forgot to check the bill so I may have paid for that. Ouch. The fries were good. I thought my burger was very good. My companion said it wasn't the best burger he'd ever had but it ranked in the top ten. I concur. I think the hype of the best burger in the area stands. It's the only burger in the area. The meat was definitely superior quality. So yeah, I'd go back if I were in the area and had on good shoes so I could stand a while. We wish we'd had room for dessert.

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. The meat patty is cooked on an iron grill and is pressed down till almost flat, therefore making the beef tasteless and dry with an unpleasant crust..... Fail!!!! Any good cook will tell u that the trick to a great burger (beef) is never disturb the beef while on the grill. This keeps all flavors n juices inside the patty. Thank god I didn't have to make a line to get in or I would have been very upset. Now, for the good part...The peach cobbler with ice cream is heaven on a bowl. The consistency of the baked peaches is perfect and the crust is buttery and delicious. Unfortunately, I can't give this review a five star based only on the dessert. Besided who in the right mind would drive to Timbuktu only for dessert, specially with the price of gas... Fail!!!! Service was ok, a bit pushy to get you out the door.
