Surprisingly good! We were a little sketchy about this place because of the whole doughnut shop thing. The first thing we noticed was that the dining hall was super clean. Even the silverware looked like they were polished. We ordered Thai tea for drinks, they were spot on! For appetizers we ordered chicken eggrolls and wonton soup. The eggrolls we crispy and came with a citrusy and sweet fish sauce with crushed peanuts. They were good! The wonton soup was so good! The clear broth was deep in flavor with fresh cilantro and not oily at all and came with 3 pork wontons that were delicious. For our entrees we ordered chicken pad thai and beef massamun curry. The chicken pad thai was a little too oily but the flavor was good. The curry was great! The consistency was perfect and loved the flavor of the sweet curry. The only thing that we would change is that we ordered both dishes at the spice level of 6. Way too spicy! The hubby and I absolutely lovvvvveeee spicy food but level 6 was too spicy for our taste. Next time we go I think level 4 should be perfect. The waitress was very friendly. Excited for good and cheap Thai cuisine in Lawton!!!

Wow this is the best Thai food I have ever had. I ordered the Salmon thai not only was it the best thai food but it was also the best salmon dish that I have ever had. Flavors here are excellent an when you leave they have a case of fresh donuts thats just aa good as the thai food they serve. I highly recommend Thai Express. I think I am going to be back for dinner! Oh and they have drive thru!

  • Ginnilou G.

I love the yellow curry. I like the fact that they can remove the peanuts. The staff are always friendly. The drive thru is convenient. Prices are decent. Service is fast. Yummy Food!

Get your pad thai cravings fulfilled here. Oh, and any donut dessert cravings as well! The pad thai during lunch time comes as a full plate (enough for lunch and leftovers for dinner) and a free small egg roll. They rate their spiciness on a numeral scale but it seems slightly inconsistent. I'd recommend ordering non- spicy and ask for sriracha or chili sauce to mix in yourself. (Just ask and they're nice enough to explain their spice level system) I've only ever ordered the Bavarian cream filled donuts, but I keep ordering it every time I go back so it must be good. Service is fast enough for an hour lunch break including a fifteen minute drive there.

This place continues to be a regular spot for me after nearly 3 years here. It honestly baffles me that there are complaints about the food or service- I've only seen and received incredibly welcoming attentive service and the food has never degraded in quality.

Great service and wonderfully vibrant, authentic Thai food make this a must-stop eatery for anyone in Lawton, OK.

This food!!!! OMGEEEE! Amazballs! I was here visiting the city for a wedding. I'm from Dallas, Texas so I definitely know my Thai food. This was by far one of the best places ever. It is a true gem in this small city!

  • Jon N.

This place rocks. We have been in town f a few months and have food only 3 places we want to go back to, including this place. Great food. Fresh. Made to order. And the donuts are good too. Even in the afternoon. Nothing is greasy.

  • Ginger C.

My family have traveled to different states and country including Thailand. We always try to dine on local resto. One of the good foods we have tried here in Lawton. Authentic Thai food. They will ask you a choice if you want your food with spice or nothing. They have I think 4 levels of spice. I love spicy food, level one is about right that you can still enjoy your food with a kick :) They have good donuts too! :) They plated servings are a lot with a good price.

  • Dianne R.

donut and thai food together in one place?! you no longer need to choose! this is a review for the donuts/coffee side only. We came hear very early on a Saturday morning before our flight out of Lawton and Daylight had a nice selection of donuts and even had some croissant sandwiches on sale. I ordered a chocolate donut with nuts that was very soft and delicious and their coffee was very well flavored and made just to my liking (with creme and sugar). That's really all I look for when buying coffee and donuts! Cheap, fast, good service - I'd be back for another donut...maybe as a dessert to my thai food???

Review for the Thai food only. I've been craving Thai and was a little iffy about trying this place. Especially because it doubles as a donut shop. But I'm glad I came here! Talked to a woman who may be the owner and she was super sweet. She's from California so that's probably why the food here is good :) FOOD: Drunken noodles (4 stars): This place will get me back because of this alone! Thank you for flavorful noodles in Lawton! Pad see ew (3 stars): Too sweet, normally pad see ew isn't that sweet. I would recommend the drunken noodles over this, but usually pad see ewe is my favorite dish at Thai restaurants. Pad Thai (3.5 stars): I'm not a big pad thai fan in the first place but it tasted like normal pad thai so if you like pad thai you should order it! Ordered medium spice level the first time and it wasn't spicy at all. Got medium again the second time and it was pretty darn spicy! So the spice levels are inconsistent. Glazed donut (4 stars): Fluffy, good glaze, not too sweet! SERVICE: Everyone was really nice. My dish took a little longer to come out than the other at my table which was weird since we all ordered noodles. For ordering take out I just called ahead and the food was ready in 15 minutes. ATMOSPHERE: So this place doubles as a donut shop which I have never seen before, but I guess it works for them. I just hated the mixture of Thai food and donut smell in the air. My sense of smell was confused! There weren't very many donuts left at the end of the night so I'm guessing more people go for that in the morning. It got pretty busy on a Friday night for dinner. I will definitely come back to get those drunken noodles.

Here for a few days for my brother's boot camp graduation. Craved Thai for a late lunch, went on Yelp, and found this little gem. It's not much on the outside and inside. A little out dated but it's a cute little hole in a wall place. The family that runs the place are super friendly. The prices are pretty decent. I believe the most is $10. The portions though... SO MUCH FOOD. One entree can easily feed a family of four. And their in house made Thai iced tea is really good. Not too sweet but the flavor is on point. We also picked up some donuts to go and the donuts are just as good as the reviews say! If we ever make it back into the area, we will definitely come back! :)

  • Vivian R.

I've been wanting to write a review for this place for a long time, but just never got around to it. I've actually been to Bangkok, Thailand and I've eaten authentic thai food. The staff are all Cambodian, but the cook is full thai. Their Green Curry taste just like the Green Curry I had Thailand. I usually get the vegetable Green Curry because it has extra goodies in it like pineapples, mushrooms, and little cherry tomatoes. I can't speak too much about the other food menu items because I only go there for the curry. However, the blueberry cake donuts are super delicious. Who thought of thai and doughnuts? Genius. Also, there thai tea is the best! They use to be open on Sunday, but because of slow business on that day they're now closed.

Only Thai food in 50 miles. Thank goodness it is tasty! We've been in town for almost a month. We've eaten at Daylight Donuts and Thai Food Express three times, trying something different on each visit. So far, everything we have tried has been quite tasty, though a bit on the sweet side. The next time we visit we will ask for a reduction in sugar. The only thing I've tried that I would not order again is the Pad Thai, but only because the Drunken Noodles are so much better! Our favorite so far has been the Red Curry, though the addition of pineapple makes me wonder if they are using a recipe for Massaman Curry instead. Either way, the portion is huge and delicious, and is served with a generous mound of rice. The lunch portions are no smaller than the dinner portions, but cost a few dollars less and come with the chef's choice of appetizer. Lunch is a great way to try the food in this simple restaurant. As for the name? Yes, it really is a donut shop. They have a full case of donuts each morning, and they are sold by the time the doors are locked. They also sell a selection of breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and beverages. We have not tried the hot foods, but the donuts are good, and a surprisingly nice way to end a Thai meal.

  • Brent T.

Incredible... Do not let the donut selection fool you. This place is legit. As always I have to try the Pad Thai. Not only is it absolutely delicious the portions are very large. No skimping on meat and/or flavor. It is definitely in my Top 5 places for Pad Thai. Highly recommend you give this Lawton favorite a try.

There is some of the top, if not the best, food served in Lawton at this modest restaurant. I guess it is difficult in this city though to make it serving Thai food. I am rooting for this place to change the palates of Lawton's citizens. The name and look of this place may seem a little strange since I believe they share the rent with a donut shop in the same location, but looks are deceiving. The Thai food here is authentic and delicious. They would do so well in a larger or more diverse city. I've tried three things here: pad thai, house fried rice, and the sweet and sour chicken. The pad thai had the correct level of savoryness, sweetness, and sourness that is prevalent in excellent pad thais. It's a fried noodle dish for those unfamiliar. The house fried rice was fulfilling with a ton of chicken, fresh vegetables, and a perfect amount of seasoning. The sweet and sour came with a side of white rice and was also filled with a lot of vegetables and chicken. The prices might seem a little high at $8-13 for dinner, but the portions are enormous and it's understandable the ingredients might be hard to find in Lawton. The pad thai and sweet and sour were enough for two meals, and the fried rice maybe three. They also don't skimp on the meat portions for the entrees. There's a difference in price here between lunch and dinner, with dinner being about $2-3 more per dish than lunch. I haven't tried the donuts yet, but they do look pretty good. The coffee is dirt cheap at 75 cents for a small.

I use this only as a descriptor because I don't know her name --- the very overweight white American waitress should be fired. She screwed up our orders and then came out and confronted us and called us liars when we sent the food back. We walked out. She is Rude and unprofessional....and obviously sucks at her job.

This is the first time I haver ever been to a Thai restaurant which doubled as a donut shop. This place is really great! I didn't try to Thai food because I was never in the mood, but the donuts and the breakfast sandwiches, I say again, the breakfast sandwiches, are really good. The one thing I noticed is that I could tell by the taste of the sandwiches and donuts, they use an asian/oriental type of oil, which isn't bad, but it just leaves a distinctive after taste, which I kind of like. The are definitely friendly. One thing that prevented me giving 5 stars is just the building itself. It could use a bit of remodeling, but other than that, if I had a chance, I would eat breakfast/donuts here probably once a week.

  • Spencer M.

One of Lawton's best restaurants. Their food is awesome, and completely unexpected from a donut shop. The roasted duck is excellent, and orange chicken. Only complaint I have is that the SPICE SCALE is not consistent.

  • Jeannie S.

I know, I know...before you judge by the name "Donuts & Thai Food," this former fast food looking building actually does it right! :) Upon entering you'll notice a fast food look to the place w/ a delicious array of donuts in a glass case to the right. It wasn't very busy when we arrived, so we were able to sit where ever we wanted. The waitress promptly brought the menus and I was happy to see a wonderful selection of the usual items you'd find at a "bigger" city Thai place. My husband and our friend both ordered the Pad Thai, I ordered a seafood dish w/ veggies. The food arrived at our table, though not all at the same time, which indicated they need to work on their timing of preparing and serving meals for a given table. That being said, the food was excellent! Finally a Thai place in town...WOOHOO! FYI: Their spicy scale is 0-4, and their 4 is NOTHING, so if you like it spicy, double it AND ask for extra hot sauce at the table . Also when asked, they'll bring you extra limes & cilantro. The prices are reasonable, and the serving size are pretty generous, though I wish they would have given me more veggies (but then again I love to eat LOT of vegetables, so maybe I'm just picky). Though I didn't have a donut myself, my friends have said they are AWESOME. :) Another bonus...they have a DRIVE THRU!! I was thinking I may call ahead to order for take out & pick it up at the window--a MUCH better option than regular fast food!! Definitely try this place out!! We have to support GOOD local businesses if we want more options in this town!!

Maybe it was the day I went... but I was really dissatisfied with the food I got here. I ordered the Pad Thai and it tasted like the vinegar was overdone... too sour. I also ordered the wonton soup, in which the broth tasted like water down soy sauce. It was so strange. It might've been the day I went, but I was not happy with my food. I may give it one more chance in the future.

Great Thai food at good prices. Can't speak for the donuts though. It's nothing fancy, but an excellent home-cooked meal at a good price. Some of the best we have had!

  • Charles H.

Not bad ! Thai Express will provide Lawtonians delicious Thai food. Especially since its the only Thai restaurant in the city. The pad thai was tasty! Service was Thai friendly too. Will definitely come back during my next visit to Oklahoma.

  • Ryan B.

Wonderful Pad Tai. It makes me wonder about the last review. I had them make it as spicy as they could and they delivered. I think this is a definite stop when I come through town. The only downside is that the credit card tip does not go to the waitress but to the chef. You must leave cash on the table to tip the waitress. For this reason alone I cannot give it five stars.

Awesome donuts! The pad Thai and chicken fried rice is AMAZING! I could seriously eat here everyday :)

  • Meg W.

I thought it was nearly impossible to go from 5 stars to 1 so quickly, but wow. The food I ordered from Thai Express this week was disgusting. Let me say it again: DISGUSTING. Not edible. I could not bring myself to eat it. I thought there was just too much fish sauce but my friend ended up taking my noodles home and she texted me that night and told me that I was not crazy. My noodles did indeed taste like straight doo doo. I will not be going back to this restaurant and if my coworkers want to, I will not eat. I would rather starve than eat at this place again. Bad.

First timer. I had the sweet and sour chicken. To put it simply. Amazing. Good chicken, fresh veggies, & properly steamed rice. I'm truly a fan of natural spices, and they hit the nail on the head. I will defintely be going back & trying more!

  • Ser N.

Rating based on both their doughnuts, which I got in the morning, and then dinner, which I came back for later that day. Doughnuts: light, airy, and not overly sweet. Their coffee is just as good! Got two dozen, and was given a complimentary bag of doughnut holes. Dinner: carry out Pad Thai (1 level of heat) and fried egg roll. Both were as good as my Thai chef friend makes, if not better because if the level of heat! I liked that they didn't overly egg the Pad That, and that they let me do half chicken and half shrimp. The portion was enormous! Had enough for a mid day snack the next day. Very pleasant staff...in the morning, the woman helped me carry out my two dozen doughnuts and drinks to my car.

As a fan of Thai food, I was excited to see this as an option in Lawton. In town for 9 days for work and looking for cheap(ish), delicious choices for dinner. Feeling brave, I ordered the Pah-nang chicken curry at a level 4. It was very spicy, and very delicious. I probably would get it less spicy next time, but I enjoyed it. Good price, ok service- give this one a try!

    (4)
  • Jesse H.

I got the Pra Ram chicken served with rice and broccoli. They give you a choice of spicy 1-4...knowing thai food I expected to be in the 4 region, the waitress kinda laughed and gave me the okaaaaay look. I asked her what she ate she said never over 2. I got 3 to be safe and it wasn't too spicy at all. I would give it a 6/10 spicy rating. The peanut sauce was great they went a little much on it but its on par with what most places serve. *the portions are huge* (I have two meals out of my plate) The looks are a bit decieving, but that food is legit. I got two donuts to go for breakfast, a coke, and the pra ram chicken total was 12.99. For that much food you can't beat it. Definately get a donut to go... they are bomb

Tofu Pad Thai was excellent! It was made to order, hot, delicious and for me two star spicy was perfect. Hubby got three star spicy chicken pad Thai and loved it As well.

The Thai food is surprisingly good. The setting leaves a bit to be desired, but the food is good. I'm glad that Lawton has such a good Thai restaurant. Classic tastes and consistent execution. As far as the donuts, I've only had one and it was pretty good. Thai food: very good Donuts: good

Absolutely love this place! I always come in and get shrimp pad thai, and never leave dissapointed. I come here at least once a week, and have gotten to know the owners a little and they are super nice people. Definitely suggest trying this place!

Food was meh. I had the ginger stir fry and it was good, but nothing spectacular. They gave us free donuts because we had a very large order, but forgot everyone's egg rolls. I'm sure we will try it again at some point.

I was so excited to get a Thai food place in town. I have loved everything I get from there. The Tom Kha Ga is very flavorful. I like the Pad Thai but have gotten many other things. I just like that I have choices in town.

This little gem is my new favorite place. I had the pad se ewe and my husband had the chicken fried rice. Both were delicious and comparable to other Thai places I've had in Seattle. The sauce that comes with the egg rolls is a bit diff than I've had before but it wet really well with the pork. I highly recommend this place.

Disgusting!!! My wife and I tried this place about a year ago and were not pleased with the food. Everything was luke warm and had obviously been sitting for a while. We thought we would give it another chance and we are both sorry we did, not only was the food inedible and old but we were both sick with diarrhea for almost a week afterwards.Avoid this place like the plague or that's what you're likely to catch!!! No wonder it's always empty.

  • Cat C.

How serendipitous is this? Donuts and Thai food? It may not have been an intentional combination but it works. At first glance, one might be tempted to pass this place up. Visually, there's nothing appealing. But gastronomically, the Thai food is amazing. I had the pineapple fried rice and the boy had the peanut curry. Both were delicious. Plus, the portion sizes were enough to last me 3 meals. We grabbed some donuts to finish off our meal which were alright, but I have a suspicion they're probably exponentially better fresh and hot in the morning.

    (5)
  • Megan T.

I think they got a new cook! I used to have issues with the consistency on their spicy level selections, but not anymore. I think they are doing a great job! This last time I tried the coconut soup and it was bomb-tastic!

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
