I can't believe this is the same restaurant we frequent so often and "usually" really like. First, after we were seated and ordered our meals, it took them over 30 minutes to bring our food, this is not typical and they weren't that busy. Our tea and water glasses were never refilled, even though we placed the empty glass at the edge so they could see they wwere empty. Were never asked, "how was everything with your meal?" The salad was made up of the hard (heels) of the head of lettuce with a couple sliced white onions, being generous, and one cucumber slice. Can you say boring? The "fresh fruit"today, which I ordered, consisted of red grapes and maybe, maybe, 1 strawberry cut up. The daughter ordered grilled chicken with mashed potatoes (and the bad salad) her chicken was so tough that half was inedible. The potatoes, they were mashed, but so small they didn't equal a serving. The bread was good with her entree. Hubby and I got omlet. They were not like they usually are, nice fluffy and full of ingrdients. The toast was cold when they apparently tried to butter them as the butter was still yellow where it was placed. I cannot begin to tell you what a bad dining experience it was. So embarrassed I have given them such rave reviews in the past.

Katie's is the quintessential neighborhood breakfast joint. If you're looking for a simple traditional breakfast in Edmond, you can't beat this locally owned place. There are no surprises here, just hearty food, friendly service and good prices. The loaded hash browns are the "go to" choice for my wife, while I've liked their omelettes. Their biscuits and gravy are solid, if not inspiring, as are their pancakes and griddle favorites. Good local breakfast choice, given 5 stars for being good at what they say they're good at...no more, no less.

We visited mid-afternoon on Mother's day. It was not crowded and there appeared to be plenty of staff. Good menu selection and choice. We order breakfast items. The food was very good and the portions were large. Price was reasonable. The staff was pleasant and the decor is ok. However, the service was lacking. Slow and had to remind the waitress to bring coffee and milk (forgot it). Also, our food was served and we had to ask for silverware. Would have been a great find except for the service :(

Good food at good price, but kinda dirty in there.

Got there today at around 11:20am. It wasn't busy. Since it's a "seat yourself" place, I walked around to find a booth with a clean table. There were plenty of empty booths but no clean tables. So I sat at the least dirty table there. We sat there without menus for about 10 minutes with the wait staff walking all around us but not really paying attention. Finally a person came and noticed that our table was dirty. After the table was cleaned, we were given orders. 15 minutes later the waitress came back for our orders. We ordered our drinks and food. She didn't bring straws for the glasses. Didn't bring silverware. Didn't bring my lemons so I asked her again for these things. Then we sat another 20 minutes and I asked another member of the staff to check on our food. They did and brought it out. Some of the food wasn't hot because it had sat out long enough to cool. The potatoes I had were cool and so was the corn. The corn had a funky taste, seasonless, really awful. The ketchup tasted old and had a strong metallic taste. This place may be loved by some but I'll never be back. Service was atrocious and the food was sub-par.

Food was okay -- omelet less so. Service was all-but-absent. Wasn't asked how we were doing (not once) and the person who delivered our food was less than nice. I also think we came during a shift change as they were more concerned with those duties then our dining experience.

Hours posted on yelp are incorrect. Their new hours are Monday-Friday 6am-2pm, Saturday 6-4, and Sunday 7-4. I had a bad experience here, but I would like to think it is because we had gone through a snow/ice storm and they were short handed. I will go back to check it out again, but if the service is not any better, it will be the last time. The food was pretty good though.

I don't know what has happened at Katie's but this is not the same place I used to frequent often. The food is always good but the staff and their service has gotten out of hand and is just plain awful. We went at11:30 am on a Wednesday morning and it was steady but not by any means busy. After we sat down it took around 5 min for a server to come get our drink orders and when she brought the drinks we told her we were ready to order and she told us she had other things to do first before taking our order. After another 5 min she came back and took out order and we never saw her again till the food came out, which took 30 min by the way and all we had were eggs bacon biscuits and hash browns. We had empty water and coffee during most of that 30 min we waited for our food. When she dropped off the food we asked for refills and she left and went to 3 other tables first taking their orders so we waved down another waitress to get refills and when our waitress walked by she looked at us and said " I was about to do that" in a very snotty tone. The hashbrowns were undercooked and cold as well. The wait staff for the most part was lolly gagging around moving slow acting like they don't care at all. This is final strike Katie's looks like it's Around the Corner from now on, where we've never had a problem

We live in Edmond and thought we had found a place we could frequent because the first few times we went to Katies it was good. The food and service has declined quickly over the past several months. Last weekend we got up early and went to Katies to be even further disappointed. We have learned to order the first time the server makes an appearance or it will be a long wait to order. Coffee is seldom refilled and you have to beg for everything. Nothing even resembles good service. Yet most of the time it appears the waitresses are hanging out and visiting behind the counter as if they have nothing to do! We have become accustomed to the lousy service but now the food is bad too!! When my husband told our server my scrambled eggs were runny and raw and bacon was undercooked she shrugged and said we'll do you want me to bring you something else? Of course not because we hadn't seen her for 15 minutes after the food was delivered!! As much as we hate to patronize big chains and keep our money in our community, we won't be breakfasting at Katies again.

The food is good and the cost is ridiculously cheap. The staff isn't friendly, but the owner is extremely friendly. I mark this place down because it is dirty and it is very disconcerting to eat in a filthy restaurant.

  • Cindi A.

Great biscuits but the gravy leaves much to be desired. Sausage gravy was basic white gravy with a sausage link sliced and mixed in. It's OK though, the biscuits are so good on their own that some butter and jelly make it all better. :) Great breakfast place!

Not good at all. Should have known how it was going to be when I went to the restroom. Dingy and dirty. Had a half scrambler wasn't how I ordered it and the service was lacking. Will never go back.

I tried to give this place a try because i have heard good things. And I basically wasted 20 minutes if my life standing around in the midst of a circle of sweaty antsy obese loud obnoxious edmonites eager to eat their weight in biscuits while waiting for the staff to acknowledge me. Finally, a lady came up and asked if we were on the list when one of those obnoxious people in the group of people waiting got a temper with a staff member. No lady, I'm not on your stinking list because you ignored me 20 minutes ago when I walked in the door. It was not like they were short handed. Plenty of staff there to handle the crowd. Unacceptable. If I want to wait for several minutes at a time around sweaty obese people, I can go to any understaffed wal mart in the OKC metro and grocery shop. Plus, there are plenty of diners and dives around OKC with better service than that.

New in town and this place was very good. There was about a 20 minute wait, but it was primetime brunch on a Saturday, so not surprised. The decor was country style and charming, but could use some updating to really make the experience for customers. We actually got a spot at the bar almost right after we put our name in, so that was nice! There's about 5 bar seats and they are first come, first serve, so if you're looking for a quicker meal, this is always an option if the wait is long. I was a little unsure who our waitress was. The girls were sort of rotating through serving, but attentive none the less. The food came out fairly quickly and it definitely pleased my tastebuds. I think the "pick 3-4" option is awesome, because I always want a little of everything when I have breakfast. I ordered hash browns, bacon, french toast, and eggs. The hash browns, bacon and eggs were pretty standard, but the french toast was delicious! I was very satisfied! The coffee was also very good. I saw the stuffed hash browns on someone else's plate and it looked awesome. I would definitely return and order some of their more signature dishes :)

This place has a small town feel and loyal regulars. The service is always great and it's very kid friendly but the food is pretty basic and the strip mall location is uninspiring. Still low prices and friendly folks go a long way.

We were from out of town but looking for a great local place for breakfast. What a find!!! We tried the house special of fried cinnamon roll but had the strawberries and whipped cream on the side; stuffed hash browns; and eggs Benedict. The coffee was fresh and all the staff are helpful and friendly. A must try in Edmond, OK.

  • Leo K.

Katie's can't be beat! The stuffed-hasbrowns are the best! They can be busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but you usually don't have to wait very long. The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. Go to Katie's once and I guarantee you will return for more!

Great tasting, inexpensive and fast service. I would like access to the internet though.

  • Matthew G.

This is a local diner that has great service and food. The menu includes all the classic diner fare you would expect. Prices are definitely some of the best in town, especially for the serving sizes. It can get really busy on Friday and Saturday so get there early to avoid having a long wait for a table. I really like the biscuits and gravy...the biscuits are HUGE and delicious! I also like all the omelets.

Love this place! People are down to earth and the food is is amazing!!! My kids even love this place! Great prices also!

  • Helen C.

Good - not phenomenal. Standard breakfast fare, reasonable prices, good service, perfect diner decor. Had two eggs over-medium, French toast, hash browns, and country potatoes. Got a chuckle when our waitress hurried back after taking our order to let me know I had ordered hash browns AND country potatoes - I smiled and let her know I do love my carbs :) Hubby had bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and hash browns. Funny out waitress didn't question double meats.. ;) Like I said - good, better than most breakfast places, but not "knock your socks off".

    (3)
  • Emily A.

We love Katie's!!! We try to limit the number of times we come here because the food is SO delicious but not very nutritious. I typically get the stuffed hashbrowns. Basically eggs (any way you like them) with your choice of "toppings" (sausage, bacon, peppers, cheese, etc) sandwiched in between two layers of hashbrowns. So good! Their biscuits are AMAZING. The best I've had in OKC. You can tell they are made from scratch. So fluffy and delicious. Katie's is a must!

  • Melanie P.

Their breakfast is really good, but what REALLY keeps me coming back is that the actually have gluten free options for breakfast. Toast and pancakes. One of the only places I've been to with gluten free breakfast options.

This is a great place for an inexpensive breakfast in Edmond! Not fancy but great breakfast fare! Stuffed hash browns are great!

Katie's is a great neighborhood diner. Breakfasts are very good and perfectly priced. Lunch and dinner selections are home style favorites and always tasty. Weekend breakfasts are a local favorite so get there early or wait for a table. Service is fast and friendly so the wait won't be long.

One of our favorite breakfast spots

    (4)
  • Puja T.

Inexpensive good breakfast spot. They are pretty busy on the weekends so service can be slow. Was NOT happy with the cleanliness. The table was still sticky and there were flies everywhere. Probably wouldn't go again but glad I tried it.

This is country cookin at it's finest Great food Great prices Be prepared to wait but it's worth it

    (4)
  • Kim R.

The food is great and so are the prices. The place is dirty. The carpet is pretty gross. The door to the kitchen is disgusting. It makes one wonder if the house is dirty, what does the kitchen look like? They need to spend some money and clean it up!!

  • Eddie H.

A return visit to Katie's proved disappointing. I ordered a deluxe scrambler with over easy eggs and bacon. The hash browns were burned I sent them back only to get back underdone hash browns. The waitress argued with me saying at first they were overdone now your saying underdone. I had to explain there is a happy medium. I ate the meal and endured the burned biscuit bottom and the fact the eggs were over hard not easy. I also noticed the cheese was not good tasting and the bacon salty. All in all a completely disappointing experience. I have to advise against the scrambler and perhaps the entire restaurant. Better luck next time.

  • Joanna S.

Ok I normally don't post negative reviews but I was thoroughly disgusted by what came with my breakfast. I'm no bug expert but it appeared that a roach was grilled up with my sandwich and home fries. My waitress was very apologetic and our meals were on the house. Customer service is why I'm giving two stars and not just one. Sad experience for me and the business.

With so many dining options in Edmond, you would think a restaurant would encourage their staff to be friendly. Not here! Nothing is more of a turn off than being ignored.... I had to ask if it was open seating, ask for a coffee refill, and was never checked on once the food arrived. Never a smile, no conversation. - although the ladies had no problem conversing amongst themselves- and not even a thank you when I left. Food is good, just not worth the crappy service! Try Coltrane Cafe, The Hash, or the One Cafe- they understand the value of smiles and friendly service!!

  • Piper B.

The service was terrible, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. We waited about 45 minutes for our food and when we got it, there was a hair in my pancake. I didn't complain because I knew I'd never get a replacement or an apology. Our server was extremely rude and inattentive and I won't be back.

Great southern style breakfast at incredibly reasonable prices. We love getting up early to feast on some delicious biscuits and sausage gravy!

Katie... What happened to you? Is there a different cooking staff in the back? Did you have to make cut backs in the ingredient department and start buying frozen, pre-made? Canned sauces and canned fruit? I used to recommend this place for breakfast in Edmond but the last couple times have been so depressing. At first I thought it was a fluke, but... too consistent to be coincidence. The eggs Benedict was raw eggs with a curdled, old, cold "hollandaise" sauce on top. When I asked for a re-do, they came back and said the kitchen "had used up the last bottle of hollandaise sauce and is now out" which I guess is code for "our cook doesn't know how to make that sauce and doesn't know how to poach an egg, order something else." Even the coffee is not so great. Even the omelettes have been lousy. Plus, the service has been slow-possibly because the kitchen is so behind. The kitchen was slow with our food even though there were not many customers dining at the time. This place is so cute and kitsch and local, with friendly wait staff, I hope they can get their food figured out before they start losing customers left and right-we weren't the only ones dining there that complained about the food.

Excellent. Food and service. Inexpensive. Gluten free pancakes and waffles. There is a line on weekends. Serving staff is excellent. Very inform atmosphere. A fun and relaxed experience We eat here every Saturday and enjoy it.

I'm typically a big fan of local businesses and I spend far more money there than I do big chains. I have, however, given up on Katies. I quit going because they could never make my over easy eggs over easy, the pre-cooked bacon was always cold and limp, and I could never get a waitress back to help. After a long hiatus I went back yesterday by my daughter's request. She ordered eggs Benedict and they were inedible. So much paprika, there were actually big clumps of it on the eggs. I finally got someone's attention and sent it back and got a chef's salad. The eggs were old, green, and had large pieces of shell in them. The lettuce was mostly from the core and had a lot of brown on them. Just horrible. We will not go back. This place has potential, someone needs to come in, train this staff, and get Katies right.

I went here with my husband and baby. Based on the casual look at reviews I thought it was a good idea. As my husband always tells me, I should have read the most recent reviews. It. Was. Terrible. I spilled water on the table and cleaned it up with a napkin and it came back dirty and brown.. gross. I decided to eat healthy and just order some grits, bacon, ham, and a bowl of fruit. My husband ordered some omelet. My fruit was canned fruit dumped in a bowl. My grits were more butter than grits. With not being able to have dairy, it would have been nice to know I was having a bowl of butter with some grits. The ham and bacon were fine. My husband's omelet had big chunks of imitation cheese. Like it had been previously frozen and thawed out but no one mixed it up. And the hash browns were just regular ol frozen hash browns. The omelet had no taste. It was just a colorful eggy blob. If you've ever seen Restaurant: Impossible then you can tell this would be one of those episodes. It's like they were once good and decided to cut back on costs and cheapen everything. Well, their reviews are paying for it.

This place was amazing! We went on a snow day and called to check if they were open, and sure enough. We walked in and sat at one of the last tables left, surprisingly the flow was great in this restaurant and I never saw anyone have to wait. I had the big breakfast, which was $5.75 and included ham, 2 eggs, hash browns and biscuit and gravy. I also ordered the hot chocolate which I'm still having dreams about, it was so good. took me back to my childhood. They had a special that day for a fried cinnamon roll, which I didn't get to try, but I hope I get to go back soon and try more things. Very good!

Excellent breakfast foods!! Nice small town atmosphere. Dinner selection isn't bad either. Haven't had much on the lunch menu.

    (4)
  • Bill D.

The food isn't all that bad. The service is EXTREMELY slow. The booth seats are tilted and you sort of slide off if you don't get caught in a big crack in the seat. Could use some scrubbing down as well.

110% correct. I'm so sorry to write this but if we don't tell u that ur business is absolutely horrid. How can u know that things must change NOW or u will go out of business sooner than later unless u turn everything around. This place just plain sucks on every level except location. I am old school forever Edmond resident and I will not tolerate anything less than great as my own customers expect from me all day every day. If I owned this business I would retrain or replace every single person including the owner/mgr. I would pour money back into it and remodel this run down completely overrated joint. It is dirty run down and smells like a dumpster. Food absolutely sucks except for the bacon which isn't half bad. I've had a few bad experiences as of recent (past year) but today sent me over the edge. U served us cold coffee under cooked eggs concrete waffles paper thin 10yr old French toast cold gravy cold fresh out of somewhere but not the oven biscuits. Took 3 times to try to figure it out. Even asking for the owner lady and she failed miserably to fix it. Then u forgot to bring us our French toast. To top off everything my wife walked out and I gathered our things to check out and u allowed us to pay and leave hungry embarrassed and ultimately super pissed. What has happened to good ole customer service? Everyone that I have encountered at this joint has a who cares island time mentality. I am a super loyal person who sticks to what I know and I am upset that I can no longer waste my time and money at this dive anymore till things turnaround. I will take my business to jimmies egg or other great places. I will tell everyone I know which is a huge number of people to stay away till great improvement is Mage. So I enter the yelp world w my 1st review as I trust others in this forum. Please do something NOW or sell the business and go away forever. Thx!!!

The flavor of the food was exquisite! Presentation was spot on!! The fact they offer turkey sausage and turkey bacon deserves a sixth star! I had their eggs Benedict with turkey bacon, my server didn't hesitate at all just made the substitution no question. IT WAS PHENOMINAL!!!! Their only set back is their ability to give you any attention because they're so busy. They need a couple more servers. ... or a greeter that can handle the table rotation and keep coffee cups full! I got a cup of coffee when seated, a refill after about 10 minutes on E..... then again when they brought the bill. They also forgot my hash browns and never checked in until they brought the bill, they did offer them to go. I give the food 5 raving stars!!!!! I give the service 2 stars. ... :-(

First time to eat here. The fried cinnamon roll was unbelievable. Biscuits and gravy melt in your mouth. Now ready to try lunch!! Katie's is the best country breakfast in Edmond. Portions are so big you won't go away hungry.

I have to update my review because we gave Katie's another chance. The food really is very good. I stand by my complaints of their service inefficiencies but as long as you are not going on Saturday mornings, it's actually a pretty good experience. I love the pancakes and biscuits. Wish they would figure out how to operate more efficiently in peak hours.

    (3)
  • Trevor W.

You know, it's not all that bad. Wait time can be long and the menu items are hit and miss, but you know what Katie's ain't? It ain't that slurry shithouse Jimmy's Egg. If you want /real/ breakfast diner food, come to Katie's. Now, I'm not so bonkers as to think that this place is the end all be all of food, but at least human beings are making the food and the menu wasn't run through the corporate Market-O-Matic 2000. Down home feel in the middle of the least down home place in Oklahoma. It's worth your while.

  • Jody S.

So disappointed! This place is always packed, so I expected the food and the service to be outstanding. It was not. The service was slow, inattentive, and pretty much nonexistent. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. It was very bland. I had the chicken fried steak plate. I would not recommend this place.

Umm went today with some friends, and the customer service upon entering the restaurant was great. I got two sunny side eggs, with turkey sausage and toast.. The eggs were super cold, but I couldn't finish my meal, b/c I spotted a roach near my table where I was eating. The male owner came over and apologized, but that was it for me. I didn't end up finishing my meal, but they were apologetic.

Inexpensive and delicious! Be prepared to wait on a Sunday! It gets packed! The biscuits and gravy are awesome as well as the French toast! Loved this place!

If you want the BEST breakfast in Edmond, Oklahoma (or maybe the OKC metro) go straight to Katie's. It's seriously like sitting down for a huge home cooked breakfast at your southern grandmas House! Tip - get the biscuit scrambler if you want to go to taste bud heaven.
