We have been here twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. No complaints on the food. It was good. Breakfast was overpriced considering what it was. Very snooty feel just from casual observation of the people waiting. Obviously frequented by people who make some dollars. The Boulevard Steakhouse is right next door and I think is owned by the same people. It may even share the same kitchen. Who knows. It's a good place to go if you want to impress your date. A bit too snobbish for us. So not really top on our list even though the food is good.

Good food. If your not satisfied they will send it back to get you something else. They gave us a free meal because we didn't like one dish.

Spent the afternoon @ frontier city for family fun & found cafe 501 on yelp. Paden is an incredible server & has a great personality ! Delicious food & especially the granola to go ! I've been in the service industry almost 3 decades & this place is top notch ;)

Original, local and good food - however if you are looking for a warm, welcoming place - forget it. The food is very authentic and tasty but the attitude of the staff at this location is terrible. It took 10 min for someone to even bring us menus another 15 to get a glass of water. The minute the waiter saw that we didn't want to order drinks he lost all interest in us. We had 2 young children who got so restless at the end of the meal - who wouldnt??? Absolutely pathetic staff - it took an hour and half to get fed- we basically got served by 4 different ppl the entire time - you couldn't pay me to ever go back to this uppity stuck up place. If you don't mind an indifferent staff and decent original food Cafe 501 Edmond it is!!!

Update: Jennifer, the GM of Cafe 501, reached out to me and invited my husband and I to try brunch at 501 one more time. We went today and had a wonderful time! There were plenty of mimosa's, hallelujah! I had the eggs Benedict, with a generous serving of two perfectly poached eggs, and garnished with arugula and cherry tomatoes. My husband had the chorizo Migas and he ate every last bit. When we were finishing, Jennifer personally came by our table to ensure that we had everything we needed. It was a much friendlier and more delicious experience the second time around. We will be back! First visit: Brunch is by far my most favorite meal of the week. My husband and I recently moved to east Edmond and I was super excited to try a new place for brunch. We were very disappointed. First, they were out of champagne and unable to make mimosas or a French 75. My husband ordered the Bloody Mary but said it was bland and tasted mostly like plain tomato juice. For the entree, he ordered the breakfast burrito and enjoyed it. I ordered the special, the Migas, and as a lover of spicy food, I was pretty hopeful. The eggs came out with large slices of peppers, more peppers than eggs. The first bite burned my lips so terribly that I was unable to eat any more. The waitstaff swears the peppers were jalapeños, but I LOVE jalapeños and spicy foods of all kinds, and I have never experienced a food that burned my mouth in this way. After not eating the rest of my food and explaining to the waiter what had happened, he neither offered to let me order something else nor remove the meal from our ticket. Not the best experience. We will find another place for brunch next week.

Why 4 stars? Because as Sarah said, "this place is just lovely." --- --- --- CM's think alike - she took the words right out of my fingers. The drill at Cafe 501 is that one person in your party goes hunting for an open table, while the others wait in line to order at the counter. Or at least, that's the most efficient way to do it :) My Thai burrito was solid, but my favorite part of the experience was found in the desserts. Our party shared a bunch of things, and all I can tell you is that I wanted more. Cafe 501 was the very first meal I've ever eaten in Oklahoma, so that's something.

We absolutely love Cafe 501 for lunch. Hey have wonderful salads and the fish tacos are a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, the service and food at dinner is not as good. Very slow service during our evening visit. Food was average for the price. I had the salmon and it was over seasoned and almost inedible. Calamari appetizer was very good. I will be back for lunch but not dinner.

Food is Excellent! My favorite lunch spot in Edmond. MAN SHOW WARNING!!! A popular lunch spot for Edmond's female population. They all are chatting and the place is FULL. ;) I think it is best if you get there early or late (between 11-11:30am OR after 1pm). Seating will be a problem around Noon. The food is worth it though!!! Lunch menu food is outstanding. Prices are reasonable. Best Portabello Mushroom Sandwich in Town! Coyote (wrap or sandwich) pretty awesome also! Dinner is also outstanding but prices are a bit higher! Did I mention you will love the food?

My daughter and I had lunch and LOVED it! She said it's the best pizza she's ever had (she's 12) and I had a great wrap - the Coyote Crunch. Took home some house-made granola and it's awesome!!!

This place is just lovely. This is the original 501 location and is still my favorite. From the hole in the wall feel to the comfortable yet nice ambiance this place is has it goin' on. Grab a menu - looking at the board can be overwhelming. There are so many great menu items and ingredients featured you don't want to miss. You order upfront then grab a seat to your liking. However, there are still servers so make sure you tip! The menu is a smorgasbord of nice salad, sandwich and soup options. I highly recommend the portobello mushroom sandwich. It's hearty with excellent flavor. PRO TIP: Get a bag of granola and I apologize in advance for the addiction. Also, the coffee is self-serve and is kind of awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant.

First time here. Nice atmosphere, really good neighborhood cafe vibe. Saturday breakfast and I had Huevos Rancheros and a cappuccino. Coffee was good. Rancheros were very well done. Nice presentation, fresh ingredients, spice was spot on, pork was excellent. I will definitely be back. It's a little pricey at $16 for one person. Might skip the cappuccino next time and get plain coffee. Overall a good spot for a breakfast, and that's not their specialty. Excited to try them for brunch, dinner and drinks!

I come here twice month and I absolutely love their lunch menu! I love their tomato basil soup and with bread pieces. I love coyote chicken hot sandwich. The pasta that comes with meal is good too. The pizza is okay, and it's small size. The dessert is delicious! I love the cakes and pecan bars are delicious. Although little over price for a slice or full cake, it's worth it :) I have tried their brunch menu as well! Definitely love the breakfast burrito. Gets real busy during lunch time, so come maybe like an hour after lunch time to avoid the crowd. Very clean cafe. Service is excellent.

I would go here every week if we could afford it - good food, good atmosphere, good wine list, and good service. All you could want in a restaurant! The bread they serve before the meal is always warm and fresh, and the mix of butters and spreads they offer as an appetizer is delicious. I would usually get the naked filet, and it was always perfectly cooked and tender and flavorful! I have also been to one of their prix fix menu wine nights, and that was fun and amazingly delicious! I have never been for Sunday brunch, but I want to go soon. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice dinner with good ambiance.

I love Cafe 501. The food is delish, although their prices are a bit steep. I guess I should preface this review by saying I have only eaten here for lunch and continue to order the same thing because I like it so much. My favorite thing to get is their pick two combo: for $11 you pick between salad, soup, or half a sandwich. There are multiple options, but I seem to always gravitate towards the spinach salad and club sandwich. The spinach salad is spinach greens, tossed in a creamy vinaigrette and topped with an abundant amount of thick cut, good quality bacon, big chunks of creamy blue cheese, and freshly candied, wonderfully sticky pecans. So yummy! It is an explosion of flavors in my mouth. The club sandwich is pretty straight forward: ham, turkey, bacon, but then they get crazy and add guacamole and sprouts. I love sprouts, and not too many places offer them. They are the red headed step child of sandwiches; no body includes them, but yet they are amazing. Although the food is great, I still think $11 is still a bit too expensive for salad and a half sandwich, because it doesn't even include a drink. They offer your basic sodas, plus delicious fresh brewed flavored tea (both green and black). Cafe 501 has some pretty amazing looking desserts, although they are also pretty pricey. My dining companion pointed out that an entire carrot cake costs $55! What?! Carrots are crazy cheap, that kind of blows my mind. Regardless, the desserts are good. They offer pretty tasty cookies, cupcakes, slices of cakes, and cake balls. I guess I think it is odd that Cafe 501 is so pricey considering it is a counter service restaurant. It would be one thing to pay $11 for a combo for a fancy, sit down restaurant, but Cafe 501 makes you do most of the work. You order at the counter, get a number, go get your own drink, find a table, and then someone brings your food. Just a bit high, but it is definitely worth it every now and then. I like the atmosphere, it is a great lunch place.

This was our first time to eat here but you can be sure, we will be back. The service was really good and the food was even better. We started with the Hummus Duo and really enjoyed the two different taste, both delicious and the pita chips were hot, crisp and flavorful. For our entrees, my wife had the Miso-ginger Glazed Salmon and I had a pork tenderloin special. Both dishes were excellent with the salmon cooked perfectly and the pork tenderloin tender and cooked to perfection. The jalapeno mashed potatoes had the right amount of heat and were delicious. These people know how to prepare great food. The only issues we encountered was that the tables were very small and the crowd noise was pretty loud, so a great place to eat but not for a romantic outing.

Outstanding. Been 10 years since I have been here because I moved away. But far better than it was then. (And I came in meat closing time when food should be at its worst - but was flawless) I was definitely impressed

Went to Cafe 501 for my 50th birthday. Main reason I went was they have creme brulee. Not going to say I'm sorry I went, but I won't be back. I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare. When it came, I cut into it and asked the person who brought it out if it was considered med. rare (it was med well in my opinion). He said it was not, apologized and said he would get me another. The second one came and honestly was worst than the first. I gave up, when he dropped the plate off and walked away. My mother-in-law could barely eat her meal and my son's pasta was so spicy he could barely eat it. Worst of all service was between not so good to bad. It took 20 minutes for our server (Colin) to bring our desserts (by this time, we were timing him), 30 minutes for our meals to arrive, another 15 minutes to get the check after I asked for it. We had to flag Colin down to get refills on our soda, tea and water for cryign out loud. Then, (of course) there was a mistake on the check, 10 minutes later I caught the server's attention so I could point it out to him then got to wait another 10 minutes while he corrected the check. On the positive side the crab appetizer was great and my wife loved the hummus app as well. For an average of $40 per person, we won't be back.

Good food but very disorganized under-staffed service. We went for dinner on a Friday night. They got my order wrong and took more than ten minutes to correct it after I complained. The asparagus risotto was yummy, and so was the chicken sandwich. Our server was also the only bartender, so he would disappear for chunks of time making drinks while we hadn't even been given water. It's not his fault, it's just a badly managed restaurant. The decor is cute, but I'd definitely NOT go back on a busy night. I may give them a second chance on a quiet weeknight if I have to. So, in all, good food but bad service.

  • Johna R.

Waited 10 minutes for a server, the server that came wasn't even our server he gave us the dessert menu and we waited another 5min for our server. She came and we ordered drinks and she said "are you sure you just want drinks and not dessert?" Yes, after waiting 15 min for you we only want drinks. Waited another 10 minutes for drinks even though they weren't busy and had two people in the bar area. Excused myself to the bathroom and saw a woman in an office messing around on her cell phone. Got our check and the server gal said "sorry if I made you wait in the beginning". What? Apologizing now? Worst customer service. And all on my birthday.

My favorite lunch spot! Their lunch is always on point and they usually don't disappoint at dinner as well!

$12 a Sandwich. I got Turkey...the veggies and flavoring was great. The turkey was 'stale and old tasting'. Surprisingly low quality turkey. I think the quality should have been a $6 sandwich. Not enough to fill a guy up, but it was just enough for small person. Now this is a deli atmosphere. I also got a piece of $6 carrot cake...taste was ok, but the icing had that 'store icing tub' aftertaste. For $3.50 the carrot cake is at least four times better at Jasons's Deli.

I was in a bind. I had a first date with a very attractive woman who lives in Edmond. I know Edmond about as well as I know Tibet - just never had a reason to hang out there. Thank the Gods (yet again) for Yelp. A few clicks o' the mouse led me to Cafe 501, which turned out to be the perfect spot. Our date was set for early Sunday, since she had a family thing going on later that day. We met at 501 around 10:00 for Sunday Brunch, and there was no wait despite an already respectable sized crowd. The ambiance is somewhat upscale, but the prices don't really reflect that. They have a really good selection on the menu and I opted for the Breakfast Burrito, with my date going for the Eggs Benedict. Both dishes arrived after a fairly short wait, and they really looked fantastic. The older and more snooty I get the more I appreciate chefs who take the time for aesthetics, and our dishes reflected just that. My burrito was no slouch in the flavor department either - the eggs inside were perfectly cooked and the taters that came with it were also just right. Service was efficient but not overbearing and deserved a well-earned 20% tip. Just a note - we left around 11:15 and there was a line to get in, so if you hate waiting like I do, get there early. Great atmosphere, service and most of all - great food! My date was a success and I will definitely be back to Cafe 501 next time Edmond calls.

Great cafe. Bakery has a good selection. The ricotta cookies are yummy but the bread pudding is a home run. Chicken sandwich is so good and great salads.

Oh lovely find. I remember going to this place as a college girl at OC, so I rediscovered it for lunch while working. Finding healthy, nice places to eat at lunch is not the easiest for a newbie back to Oklahoma, but I think I'll be coming here on Friday again. Lovely, sunlight, breezy space and delicious food. I had the Thai Shrimp Wrap and it came really warm with some not-too-fattening pasta salad (you know how they can get). The variety in the menu is enough to keep me interested for awhile and it is relatively vegetarian friendly. I felt attended to but still able to retain a good deal of independence. A nice upscale place. I am a snob and don't really care what I pay for food, so I say cheery-o. Way to go Edmond.

As a vegan, I often have to modify my order. I've never had a problem here. I ordered the BLT, asked for no bacon and hummus instead of mayo. Even though they don't have hummus on the lunch menu, they whipped it up for me anyway. They also allowed me to order this on Sunday, when the BLT isn't on the menu. Always great service.

After spending the weekend visiting friends in OKC, I am still craving the salad I had from Cafe 501. A group of 5 of us went there for lunch on a Saturday and it was nothing short of delicious! I'm normally a very light eater but completely cleaned my plate here. I ordered the Mediterranean Salad and loved every bite! It was the perfect blend of salad greens, couscous, pine nuts, avocado, and pita bread. Yum! I could not stop myself though and ordered a small lemon tartlet. It was the perfect finish to a perfect lunch. Go here now!

Edmond, OK is not known for the vast quantity of bistros serving inventive and consistently good food, which is why Cafe 501 is a gem. The service is usually pretty good, though the coffee can be sub-par. Despite the fact the menu rarely changes, I have seldom been disappointed here. I recommend Jimmy's Sandwich ($10) and the Breakfast Burrito ($11) for the Sunday Brunch, which I also recommend--it's never too crowded and the service is fast. The atmosphere feels classy but don't worry, there will always be at least a few customers wearing sweat pants. My only complaint is that sometimes the staff can be moody college aged kids wearing black shirts which makes their complexions look even worse. Moderately priced, tasty food with reliable service. Win win win.

  • Rania Y.

This particular 501 has good food most of the time. It is a hit and miss, with a restaurant like this it should be more consistent. The staff is not always very nice and helpful as well. Their desserts are pretty good and if you catch them on a good day their dinner is pretty good. I would recommend Classen Curve before this one in Edmond.

  • Kevin L.

Decadent food with nice portions and upscale taste. The prices are definitely inflated to cover for this decadence. The variety is okay but the food is mainly deli sandwiches and mexican-influenced food. The service is great and the decor is wonderful, but if you want to spend too much for fancy food then this is your place. Recommended if you have the money to afford it.

  • Vanessa D.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Edmond! I love coming here for lunch and dinner since there are two different menus. The 501 Salad is always a good choice with spiced pumpkin seeds, blue cheese crumbles, Granny Smith apples and a light lemon vinaigrette. This goes well with the tomato basil soup if you do the "Pick Any Two." One of my other favorites is the fish tacos! The fish isn't fried, which is a big plus to me. They recently redid their dinner menu, but some items are still there. Pretty much all the fish dishes are delicious, especially the lime chipotle tilapia. I don't think I have ever had a bad experience at 501. It can get pretty busy during the lunch hours, so I suggest not coming in a big group.

Food: 4/5 Service: 2/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Decor & Setup: 5/5 The food was pretty good. The service was at par. The place is a low lit fancy cafe. I think Cafe 501 tries to be a little fancy and snobby. They over charge for their food, but at least it's good. But if I'm going to a cafe, I want to feel relaxed. I was dressed nice that day so I felt like I fit in, but if I wasn't dressed as well, I would have felt uncomfortable. I give Cafe 501 an overall of 3/5. -1 for stuck up, and -1 for a lil pricey. The name gives it a bad image, I went in there thinking it was a Cafe. Its just a small fancy restaurant to me. But, with this fair warning, please try the food at this place, its excellent!

Definetly stepford wives. I mean Edmond women with no jobs yet they have nannys not to mention still have babies and are pregnant again. Aside from this atmosphere during lunchs at 501 I LOVE it. Everything is good, lunch. dinner. brunch. desserts. bread. Not to mention the best iced tea. I have been eating here for years and no longer live in edmond but when i visit i stock up on treats and at least have one meal. I suggest going late afternoon or evenings.

Very good quality and presentation of food. I love their breakfast. It's more than you'll pay anywhere else for breakfast but very tasty! Lunch is also terrific with great meats for sandwiches. Lots of baked goods available too.

This is our favorite lunch spot in Edmond. However it is pricey; $30 for two adults and one kid's plate, but the food and selection are well worth it. It never slows down on the weekend or lunch rush on weekdays so expect a wait. We like the stuffy atmosphere...not because we're snobs.... But because it's great people watching. We hear they're going to put in a new 501 at the Classen Curve shopping center.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get around to reviewing Cafe 501, because I love it. The Edmond location is near MPOW and with the lovely ambiance + good food, it is my go-to when we have visitors (interview candidates, vendors, etc) during lunchtime. I've never heard a complaint about it! It's the perfect place for this because a) the food is good b) the ambiance is lovely and c) there's usually something for everyone to enjoy! It's doubtful that there's a bad meal to be had here. I've enjoyed the seasoned tilapia tacos and grilled tomato & cheese with tomato-basil soup as well as their absolutely delicious fork and knife breakfast burrito (sans sausage) with the most delectable hash browns. The menu is extensive, so choosing just one thing is hard. And vegetarians, take note! Cafe 501 has plenty of veg-friendly options and will take meat off when asked. Definitely give Cafe 501 a try.

Food is delish. You walk up to the counter and order, then get your own drink and then are served from that point, for lunch. At dinner, it's full service and the menu is about 70 percent different at dinner. Food is artsy creations, with great flavor. Modern vibe, good food from a chef that for sure tries new combinations. They have breakfast on Saturday and Brunch on Sunday. My favorite is the pear salad for a small and if not worrying about calories, the parm and tomato salad with homemade balsamic. Best anywhere!

  • Daniel J.

This is a great neighborhood spot--like an independent, upper crust Panera Bread. Other reviews are right--it's a local watering hole for Edmond's many ladies-who-lunch. The prices are just a bit too high, but I'm forgiving since the soups, salads, and sandwiches are delicious (and imaginative), and the space inside is perfectly decorated. Excellent bread and pastries as well.

My family and I went here for Sunday brunch. The food was really good, but the service was terrible. The waitstaff was really disorganized, extremely slow, and no one seemed like they really cared to be there. No one was particularly rude, it was just like no one cared. I'd probably give the food a 4-5 star rating on its own.

  • Nora G.

I really enjoy Cafe 501. They have great portion sizes. Not too much or too small. I've mostly gone for lunches. I really enjoy the tomato basil soup and the turkey sandwich. The flavors are great. Also, this is the only place I will ever eat carrot cake. It's the best carrot cake I've ever had, hands down.

  • Trevor H.

Granola- divine. Baked goods (to go) - pretty good. Chkn salad sandwich (half) -juicy & flavorful (great bread). Pear-balsamic salad-great! Would have labeled 3.5, but for service. Counter ordering can be a real chore at lunch, backed up on my visit. Moreover, ordered cookie & apple pie to go. Girl was busy, I asked if she'd bring items to table. Meanwhile the "sold" the last of the cookie variety I ordered to a "to go" order. Announced it to me 15 mins later. I'm an adult--I can deal w not getting my first choice of cookies. But still, along with the chaos at the front, that's a half star down.
