Lunada Mexican Grill & Cantina Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

A number of reviews cited slow service, but that wasn't or experience. Good service and good food. The jalapeño ranch dip will appeal to some and not to others. If you don't like it stick to the traditional red salsa. Both are complimentary. We had carnitas and enchilada Verde. Both were very good, as was the chori-cheese dip.

Service was slow and the food was not very good. Me and 2 of my coworkers stopped by for lunch. It was not busy there at all. We got seated with chips, salsa, and an odd white dip, then it took a while for drinks. Food took a while too in comparison to most Mexican restaurants. It was not very good. i didn't even finish my lunch portion enchiladas because they were so blah. Then it took FOREVER to get the check. The servers were nice and all, but come on! We were there for well over an hour when it could have been a 30 minute lunch. Can't recommend it.

I'm always a little baffled when I come here: from the ranch dip to the horrible fake cheese to the inside out enchiladas (pork was on top of the "enchiladas"). My experience is consistently underwhelming which transitions to disappointing because of the lack of authenticity. A couple positives, however: my pork had good flavor and the Mexican rice was spot on. The verde sauce tasted good, but there was too little of it on my enchiladas verdes to give them too much credit for it. Too bad both the meat and rice were too close to the cheese goop.

The complementary salsa and sweet jalapeño dip is what has left an impression in the back of my mind. The jalapeño dip was so cool - never have a been to a Mexican restaurant that serves anything even like this. And the salsa had a great, chunky, taste! I decided on the Burrito Gordo. Chicken and steak filled in with peppers, onion, rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce, tomato. I was satisfied. I noticed this restaurant offers a lunch buffet (M-F) for $8.99. If I'm ever on this side of town, and craving Mexican, I wouldn't mind checking their spread out.

My friend tells me that there is a lunch buffet, and it's on him. There is no way I am going back in that building. Soup is empty, meat is early in buffet, tortilla is last thing on the line. Guacamole and sour cream in a watery hotel pan, who knows the temp? Sorry no game here.

This was my first time visiting Lunada and I am giving them 3 stars until I go back for a second chance. First things first, this place is not very vegan friendly. But, as a vegan, you expect that and try to work around it. The server was knowledgeable about if the rice has butter (yes) and if the beans have any kind of meat (no). However, I am certain my fajita veggies for my burrito were still prepped with butter and he gave me rice instead of beans like I requested. It wasn't super busy so I can't blame it on being slammed which is why I want to give them a second chance. They do serve more than one dish of salsa when you are dining with someone which is nice! And they did remember to skip the sour cream and cheese for my meal. What I could eat was tasty so I will definitely try them again and update my review.

Every time I come here, I am happy with the queso and food I order.... But it is SO VERY irritating that the servers don't check in on you much and you don't get silverware or napkins until you get your food or ask for it!! Every other restaurant gives you silverware when you first sit down... Here, you must ask for it! I'm currently sitting here eating my queso with it all over the table and my mouth just waiting for a darn napkin! Step up your napkin and silverware game, and you'll get five stars!!

I liked the options they have for someone trying to keep to lower carbs. I got something that was chicken and various veggies (squash, zucchini, onions, peppers). My only issue with this place is that the food tends to be higher in salt then other places. I think if the food was prepared with a little less, it would improve my rating.

Came here for the first time tonight and definitely won't go back. Our party of four got skipped when waiting for a table. When we were finally sat, it took the waiter at least 10-15 minutes to approach our table. When he arrived, he literally just came up and said "hey." By the point we already knew everything we wanted to order and asked to place the entire order at that time. Chips and salsa were brought but the salsa given was barely enough to fill one small bowl. The drinks we ordered took at least 15 minutes to arrive. We were given no silverware. The appetizer took 30 minutes from when we ordered. Meals came 20 mins after appetizer. We were in this restaurant a grand total of 2 hours and we left right after we ate. The food was okay but definitely not worth the wait (or the prices!) and poor service.

My wife and I have eaten at Lunada over 10 times and have never had a bad experience. For starters, I could eat the complimentary tortilla chips and white salsa as a meal. The service is also quick and the food is tasty. It's location is a little off the beaten path so it's never too busy. I highly recommend this place.

I have heard/seen mix reviews for this place and have driven by it for years so my girlfriend and I stopped in. The chips and salsa selection was interesting...the creamy white dip was chilled with a nice heat with every bite and the traditional salsa was good. The iced tea was delicious and the table was stocked with sugar, Splenda and sweet and low. I had the burrito gordo with chicken. As promised in the menu the burrito was served swimming in melted cheese, lots of garden inside the burrito with plenty of chicken. Overall....ok The lovely woman with me had the chimi's and her review was they were ok LOL Service was good....price a touch high Overall, will go back again and enjoy more tea

Let's be clear... I'm not a fan of a lot of the Tex-Mex found in central Ohio. This market has cheapened out so badly... it seems like Columbus will never see the likes of Tex-Mex with actual flavor. My visit to Lunada overall was not too shabby. First off, I could give a damn about margaritas... I'm here for food. The Queso was of thick, cheesy goodness and not like other places skimping and watering down their Queso. That was the first nice surprise in my trip. To be honest, I didn't care for the Ranch Dressing they bring out with the chips. It just doesn't make much sense and throws off the taste buds. The inside is on the darker side... It's not super hoakie by any means. Plenty of seating. Service was good and prompt.. No qualms here. I ordered the Pollo con Chorizo and it was not too shabby. It was reminiscent of a small tex mex place in Marysville that makes a similar dish. So, it was definitely A-OK. They filled my plate with plenty of Rice and Beans, which I barely touched... DAMN YOU, CHIPS! Ok! So, everything seems great until you get that bill and it hits you... AY CARABMA!! Their prices are pretty steep here. My husband ordered two Taco-Bell esque tacos with a side of rice and beans, and it was $11. Yeah... $11. That's murder... absolute bloody murder to my pocket book. I'm happy to have found a place so close to me with food a notch up from El Vaquero, but GEEZ... with those prices.. it's almost not worth it. I'll be back... just not as often as I'd like to be.

Not great food. Typical fare you're gong to find anywhere else, so if you're okay with that. Food came out hot and fresh, just took a while. What was the most disappointing was them being understaffed for Cinco de Mayo. Several of us went there for a business lunch and we waited close to 10 minutes before even getting addressed. Took 1.5 hours to get in and out. Given our food w/o silverware or napkins. Luckily a table beside us was laid out for someone to roll silverware (again, understaffed) so we just grabbed our own. Many of the tables around us were upset as well. Hopefully more staff came in for dinner. First and last time there for us, I'm afraid.

Great food and margaritas. I think it's the best in the area. CAUTION: If you pay by credit card, keep your receipt and double check your statement. My server decided to add an extra $5 for himself.

Ok so I visited this location today. First impression very clean, staff very friendly and not too crowded. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and what I assumed was a queso. A white, sweet and cold sauce that reminded me of ranch dressing, Not delicious at all! The regular salsa was very good. Chips were a little thick and cold. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup, which was broth based with good tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeño, rice and shredded chicken. I enjoyed that very much. I ordered the chicken feliz, which was red and green bell peppers, onion, mushrooms grilled chicken and shrimp, with cheese sauce. It is served with rice, beans and tortillas on a sizzling skillet which is where this went wrong. The skillet scorched the peppers and onions, most of it stuck to the skillet along with the equally scorched cheese sauce. The chicken was over cooked and tough and so were my shrimp. Tge rice and beans were obviously under a heat lamp and were very dry. Service was incredibly slow. Remember it's not crowded. I would not try this one again. Really disappointed.

Always excellent food and excellent service! Love the sweet jalapeno sauce with chips - mix it with salsa too! Good value and coupons/groupons often available. Can't beat the margaritas! Highly recommended.

This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Good food, good prices, and good service. Most Mexican restaurants have bad music and decor, but this particular place was classy, relaxed and delicious.

I'm sitting in the bar area of this particular establishment writing this review with deep concern. Our waiter has vanished and at this point I can only believe that he should be reported as a missing person. Aside from the worrying lack of wait staff, the food is pretty average. The queso is delicious. The frozen margaritas are yummy. Prices are a tad steep. But that said, I would eat here again.

Slow and mediocre service. They seem to like to hide their poor quality food with excessive amounts of cheese sauce.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus. We always have great service and the food is very authentic. Our favorite item is not on the menu. It is the seafood nachos. It used to be listed as an appetizer, but it was so plentiful that my hubby and I always shared it. And try out their lunch buffet if you ate in the area. It can't be beat for the price!

They have good deals, but I would not come out of my way for this place. It isn't bad but there are better Mexican restaurant options. This is a good place to take your kid, who is loud, or if you don't want a wait to sit. If you like your Mexican with cheese sauce then this place is for you. We came for Sunday lunch because of the Groupon deal. They have good spicy salsa along with a Ranch dip for free. We ordered the El Volcanito, Chicken Gordito, and Chicken Finger and Fries (3.99). The Volcanito has a little too much tortilla for my taste. The chicken was decent and there was plenty of cheese on it. I would prefer to see some veggies mixed in but I was stupid and ordered this and not something with more veggies. The Gordito was in a pita and was a fork and knife meal. My wife liked it but wasn't crazy about it. The salsa here might be the best thing. I prefer El V in Hilliard and a few other Mexican restaurants over this. Service was polite but a little slow. My wifer has come here for a few lunches and she said today was the most people she has ever seen in the place. I did notice that they allowed a large group in the corner of the bar area which gave them privacy and space. You are looking at spending $9-11 a meal here. They have coupons regularly which make this place somewhat attractive. They also have Modelo, Dos Equis on tap.

Lunada is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Central Ohio. My husband and I dine here regularly, and we consistently receive great food and great service. I also work close to Lunada. My favorite lunch offering is the beef chimichanga. My favorite dinner entrée is the Pollo con Chorizo. My husband loves their Mexican pizza, which he pays a little extra to add chorizo to as well. Lunada has a full bar and a separate dining area as well. It used to a T.G.I.Fridays, and they kept the basic floor plan of when they converted it to Lunada. They also have nice patio seating for the rare occasions when the weather cooperates. We take full advantage of their frequent diner card, which has saved us quite a bit. If you eat there regularly, ask them to give you one. It's worth the trouble of presenting it every time you dine to build up points that convert to money off on a future visit.

I was staying in the hotel next door and didn't want to go far for a quick dinner after a full day of traveling. Walked over to Lunada and sat at the bar where there was only one other customer sitting. Took a few minutes until anyone knew I was there and took my drink order. I'm a big fan or Corona Light on draft, so thank you! I ordered the Lunada Fajita Quesadilla... Chicken, shrimp and beef quesadilla. Took much longer than it should have, but still it did show up. It was ok, I don't know if I'd order it again if I went back but it hit the spot. Again the whole thing took much longer than it should have. The chips and salsa were adequate.

This place is a zero.... From the moment that we walked in , I had a sense that this would not be a good experience. In-attentive waiters, acted as though we were a bother by asking for drinks and apps. The salsa and chips are bland at best , I wanted some of the hot salsa and asked twice for some, it never arrived at my table. The food did arrive quickly , my wife and I both commented that it was either previously frozen or it was made hours earlier and simply reheated. This place is to be avoided.......

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Columbus area. They serve chips with salsa, as all do, but their salsa has a little more "bite" than the usual mild tomato salsa you get elsewhere. They serve a unique ranch dip with the chips as well. While I am not a fan of ranch, I think it shows managements desire to go beyond what the typical Mexican restaurant provides to customers. Every time I have visited service has been awesome, the staff was very friendly, and the food has been excellent with generous portions.

If you are in the Hilliard area, there are MUCH better options for Mexican food! The food was cold and there were bugs flying around our table. We won't be coming back!

Recently moved to this area from out of state. First visit was for a take out order that they got wrong. Ordered chicken fajitas and got a combo with shrimp and steak as well as the chicken. If you are having food cost issues this may be a factor. I got bonus food that I didn't want. Dined in today and the burrito I was served was missing ingredients and the steak in it was desiccated. Server asked if everything was okay and I said, "no." Explained to him that there was no rice, beans or guacamole in the burrito. He said, "they're all inside." I showed him where I had cut it open and the items were not there. Was in a rush so didn't order anything else. An offer to bring me the missing ingredients would have been fine. Questions: 1) Why are you arguing with your guest? The plate was in front of both of us with ingredients plainly missing. 2) Why would the manager ask me if I was driving the car with New York plates on it? What difference does it make? Were you just blowing off my concerns because you figured I wouldn't be back anyway? 3) Why was there not even a middling apology offered? Two visits and food was not what I ordered both times. That's not the type of consistency you want. I wish you well in the future but I will not be patronizing your establishment again. One star because you can't rate zero stars.

DO NOT GO TO LUNADA!!! The worst service I have ever had at any restaurant EVER! I went in there on a Saturday around 3:30 about a month ago with a party of 3. It took 10 minutes for somebody to even come over and ask what we wanted for drinks. Then another 15 to ask to take our order (there were only three tables seated in the entire place so they were not busy). Then our food arrived, and this is where the fun REALLY begins. They bring us the food and walk away. We have no silverware and the server is gone, so we get up and proceed to walk around looking for station with silverware or a server to get us some. To no avail. Then about five minutes later a server appears. we ask for silverware and he brings it (but no apology given). Then we start eating, the food is ok but nothing special. Then my friend bites into her burrito and there is a piece of plastic inside it which cuts the inside of her lip and gum. We complain to the server show him the plastic and show him her cut mouth. He doesn't seem to care much but then says he will tell the manager. The manager never comes out to apologize personally. The server comes back out and says the manager said I should take 20% off of your bill. Is that enough of a reason you to not go to LUNADA

Can't do better for the price. Custom made a 21 oz Margarita with premium and fresh juice. The bean dip was nice. And the waitstaff were nice too.

Enchiladas were excellent. Waiter was a fly hunny. He was also a complete failure at waiting on our table. Other tables were visibly aggravated at the lack of timely service. Set aside 1.5-2 hours for dining but have a happy tummy basket.

Better than average food. Quick friendly service. Yelp helps again. The positive reviews proved accurate. We had the chicken tacos Yum. And the carnitas which was yum, if a tad too salty. We would definitely return and recommend to others.

I liked their food, but I really think there was a bit too much sauce covering most of their food. Also was on the higher end of pricing.

The place is a little dark, but is still relatively festive. It's clean and decorated as you would imagine other Mexican restaurants to be decorated. The service was really good. The waiters all spoke great English! (This is usually a problem we have at "authentic" Mexican restaurants. I ask for lemons and get limes, etc...) They were quick to refill drinks and our food was out pretty quick. We ordered fajitas. Fairly straight-forward of a dish. But unfortunately, there was about an inch of grease in the bottom of my fajita skillet. The whole dish tasted like it was fried with butter. So the veggies and the meat had a very sweet, buttery taste. Which is pretty gross to me, 'cause I like my fajitas to taste like fire and meat! All in all, maybe if you tried something else? However, dropped the star rating to 2 stars because there was a drunk woman at a booth across from playing music on her phone at the annoying tinny full blast, trying to top the mariachi muzak and her drunk husband. If it were my restaurant, I probably would have kindly asked her to knock it off, as everyone in the joint was glaring at her. But the manager walked by several times and said not a word. Oh well, no law against stupid folks, eh?

This is definitely one of the top Mexican restaurants in Columbus! The food and beer are great, and at great prices. Happy hour drafts is buy one get one half off. The white dip with the chips is fantastic - I have never had anything like it. If you haven't visited, you're missing out.

Food is really good at Luanda. Not a fan of their strange, white dip that they serve with their salsa. I have no idea what it is but I guess maybe someone likes it. Service is usually pretty quick and they have lots of room so the wait is usually non-existent or fairly short. Good bar with plenty of tv's too if you want to catch a game.

We've been there a few times now and I love this place. Everything I've had so far has been good, but I'm definitely a big fan of their Tortilla Soup! One of the best I've had. Consistently good service and pretty diverse menu. One of the closest menus you can find in Columbus to real Mexican food.

This is probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Columbus. I've gotten multiple things on their menu and they've all been really good. The taco salads and the chicken tortilla soup are by far the best. If you get the soup, ask for some limes to squeeze in it!!! It adds so much flavor!!! The frozen margaritas are also super delicious (my favorite is the peach). Everything on the menu is reasonably priced as well! I never have had a problem with the service here. They're all so attentive and very kind. I will be returning to this restaurant many more times (:

One of the best places to get Mexican food in Hilliard. The frozen margaritas are delicious and they have a ton of flavors! I got the fajita salad, and it was amazing. Definitely an Americanized Mexican food, but still hits the spot! Portions are huge! I had plenty to take home. :)

We ate here a few weeks ago and I was extremely disappointed. I had a stir fry/veggie dish and it literally had NO seasonings on it. None. Not even salt and pepper. The meat was tender and the veggies were crisp and cooked correctly. I just don't understand why there wasn't ANY seasonings. The chips and salsa they brought us at the beginning of the meal wasn't great. My husband liked his dinner - can't remember what he ordered, but he liked it. I nearly froze to death in this place. I probably won't go back, even though it's really close to where I live. Too bad. I really wanted to like this place.

The food is good the pricing is decent the atmosphere is really nice . a really nice ambience . only problem is is they do not understand a lot of things we wanted a hamburger with cheese and only mayonnaise and they don't have mayonnaise yeah. That is only the bad part , don't know and have no clue on service techniques to make customer happy

This is as standard, run of the mill and blasé as the other 1,000 generic Mexican restaurants in Columbus. The food was fine--tasted slightly better than El Vaquero to me, but pretty much your average Mexican meal in Columbus. They start you out with the standard chips and salsa but jazz things up by offering a cup of their "white sauce" or whatever it's called. Actually I don't know what it's called because we weren't told what it was, it was just set down. It's a cold, sweet sauce that tastes like melted vanilla ice cream with some Hidden Valley mix stirred in to it. It wasn't something I would ever really desire to eat again, but when we were there I kept eating it to figure out if I liked it. After about 20 dips I decided I didn't. I just couldn't figure it out. The salsa here wasn't that great...it needed jazzed up a little, but since they didn't have hot sauce on the table like every Mexican restaurant should I didn't spice it up. Next up we had a dip sampler. It came with queso, pico de gallo and guacamole. I was kind of bummed that it had pico de gallo--I saw this as a cheap cop-out from providing another legitimate dip, considering that places like Cuco's offer all the pico de gallo you want to eat on their salsa bar. Anyway...the guac and queso dip were good. For dinner I had chicken fajitas--they were good, same as anywhere else. HERE, however, you only get 3 tiny tortillas, and if you want more you have to pay $1. Whatever, I'm not coming back so don't have to worry about it. This is really interesting: my friend got one of the "house specialities" called a "volcano." It's a flour tortilla stuffed with chicken, and tied at the top to look like a volcano. It's served atop queso sauce (see pic). That's it. According to him it sucked, and the whole volcano deal had me laughing because this was about the dumbest thing I've ever seen served in a restaurant. Not fried or anything, no spice or veggies, just chunks of chicken in a tortilla. I probably won't return because there are too many other Mexican places with the same quality of food and exact same menu in this town that don't charge for extra tortillas.

I really enjoy Lunada. I just came for lunch again and everything was great. Large beers, good chips, and tasty food. I like to get the cheese sauce with the chips, the salsa is good but I really like Queso. I always order a version of the chicken and it is good. Have been here a number of times, sometimes the service is a little slow but the food is always good.

I have been really disappointed in the state of mexican restaurants for some time to the point of not really going to these places anymore. Tonight however, we were hungry and after leaving spaggeddies due to it being dirty, we walked next door to Lunada Mexican Grill. The food was fantastic! Not only was it fantastic but the value was great. It seems Mexican restaurants are getting expensive. I live up North at Polaris and many of the places are charging 9 dollars for 1 taco! And not a good taco either! I ordered fish tacos (first time having a fish taco) and all I can say is wow. It was really good. I've never been a huge fan of mexican rice. It's usually dry and salty. However, the rice at Lunada was made perfectly. I'm glad I finally found a mexican restaurant that I can enjoy and doesn't cost 40 dollars for 2 people.

First time visit. Service was very good. Everyone at the table enjoyed the Salsa & Chips. I thought the heat level was just about right. They also served a white sauce that was a sweet jalapeno ranch style sauce. I really liked it just not sure how I would want to use it. It wasn't bad on the chips, I just think there may be a better way to use it. For my entree I had the Chimichangas with chicken. I was very satisfied with it. One of the others in my party ordered the Burrito Jalisco. The burrito was huge and filled with pork. He was also very happy with his dinner. The 2 other dishes order were a Taco Salad and Burritos Deluxe. Both of these items were very good also. We will definitely visit again.

This is an old standby that I have been meaning to write about for some time. The location seems a little of of the beaten path, but it is a consistently good place to eat. The food is really good, the prices are fair, and the service is always good.

I like this place a lot! I think the salsa is great, and the fish tacos I had were pretty good. I do wish that their beer selection was a little wider, but besides that, this is definitely better than the average Mexican restaurant. The service is also very quick and our waiter Jose was very kind. Kudos Jose!

Tonight was my first visit to Lunada. I had purchased the Groupon and am always interested in trying new restaurants. We ordered the Lunada Fajitas (steak, chicken, and shrimp). The portion was large and reasonably priced at $12.99. We also had the quesadilla suprema which was also very good. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. We are planning on going back.

Great new Mexican restaurant in Hilliard! Tonight was the second time my family and I dinned here and we left happy again. I understand people think Mexican restaurants are all the same but Lunada sets itself apart from the very beginning with its offering of the traditional chips and salsa plus another dip that's a family recipe. The additional dip is sweet with a little kick and well worth a try. I would highly recommend the seafood enchiladas and the chicken chimichanga. As a seafood lover I'm always on the lookout for a solid seafood enchilada and Lunada does not disappoint. With shrimp, scallops and crab the three enchiladas that come with the meal will fill you up if the chips and salsa hasn't already. Also, the service both times was great. Tonight we had a great waiter who was attentive but not intrusive and made the meal enjoyable. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed. Next time you're think Mexican food give Lunada a try, you won't be disappointed!

I bring the kids to Lunada once every couple of weeks for our own version of Taco Tuesday. Atmosphere is comfortable, arrive is good and the food is fantastic. I highly recommend a visit!

This is a weekly spot for me and my family for dinner. The dishes are tasty, the service is good and the prices are cheap.

Mini chimis were very good. I liked the refried beans and queso mix. Volcano was equally tasty. Just wish they'd given us plates for our app.

Tasty, quick and friendly service. I enjoy this place and wonder why it's not busier.

Great local place, many visits in past year, often for takeout. Straightforward, excellent food, great prices compared to the other Mexican feedbags in the area. Chicken chimichangas are great!

Happy hour is not great, food was mediocre, service was bad. Not one of the best Mexican restaurants I've tried in Columbus.

We used a groupon for a late lunch at Lunada on Sunday afternoon. There were only a handful of other customers there when we arrived. We were seated right away and were brought warm chips and homemade salsa and some other kind of dip that was pretty good! I liked that the salsa was fresh and bright and just enough heat. Our drink orders were taken and we looked over the extensive menu. It's standard Mexican fare that can be found at many restaurants around the area. My wife had a steak burrito and I had the chicken chimichangas. Both were very good and we both had leftovers for lunch the next day! The restaurant is clean and is decorated nicely. The service was fast and pleasant! The prices were great and it was a perfect lunch spot with tasty food to fill our bellies on a rainy, cold December afternoon. We will be back.. Probably next weekend since I just bought another groupon!

I got the shrimp and chicken fajitas and they were horrible. They were about as boring as it comes they forgot to add flavoring of any kind to it. The server try hard but it was difficult because he couldn't speak or understand very much English. The ambience was fine and the hostess was very helpful while being cute at the same time. I give them a C+ on trying but definitely an F in the food quality.

Terrible. The server couldn't speak English very well the food was bland the salsa was watery and the shrimp were tiny almost needed a microscope. It was slow as well the price we paid was too much for slow service in a dead place and bad food. Will not return.

We live near Mill Run in the Hilliard area and hope every day that developers will continue to see growth and strength in our area and will want to invest in its success. With the new high-end rental apartment buildings completed in 2010, bringing likely well over 1000 new bodies to the local area, Mill Run seems to be a prime location for businesses to better thrive. TGI Friday's departure didn't help, though in its spot arrived a new Mexican restaurant, whose concept was generally favored. The work they did to transform the former Fridays location looked nice and welcoming. We decided to try it out tonight, entered the doors expressing it was out first time to the restaurant, and didn't get quite the welcome we would have liked. Didn't get a tour of the remodeled space, didn't get a general overview of the menu or an introduction to the features or specialties....the hostess didn't seem to let our server know it was our first time and to make sure we had a special experience -- it was good, friendly service, but nothing that made us feel excited to have chosen this spot for dinner. They delivered yummy chips (not too salty, which can be a peave of mine) and two bowls for salsa so we didn't have to share - nice touch. Also delivered was a white creamy dip that looked like ranch dressing. It was sweet like a dressing and didn't really seem to go with the chips - I didn't care for the choice, so I asked the server if I was supposed to dip the chips in it; he sort of smiled and said that I could if I wanted to.....we were still confused so we mixed the salsa with it to see if this concoction would taste more like a natural chip dip -- NOPE. We ordered the 3 dips; guac, fresh salsa and a white queso. All good, not great. I had the deluxe burritos (chix & beef) and Doug ordered the fish tacos. Both were good -- no part of each dish making us rave about the food. The rice served with Doug's tacos was bland. Business during the holidays is touch and go in the restaurant industry - either slammed busy with holiday shoppers looking for nourishment, or dead as people already spent their disposable income on holiday presents. The crowd was light at Lunada tonight, but for the sake of our neighborhood and the success of Mill Run, I hope they survive and make others palettes happy.

I wasn't a salsa eater before I tried their salsa. It is delicious, as is everything else I have tried here!

Great place to eat the service is always the same great ! Haven't had a problem yet I always get the chicken Fajitas and my girl friends always gets the steak ones. It's a lot of food I do have to order extra flour shells because 4 just doesn't cut it .

Pretty decent Mexican restaurant. Service is always polite and quick. The food is good but nothing that is truly memorable. I've been here several times primarily because of its close location to where I live. They also have great margaritas!

It was hard to get too excited about a new Mexican restaurant in town, when we already have favorites like Casa Fiesta and Las Margaritas nearby, but we decided to give Lunada a try anyway. I like the way they've decorated and set up the restaurant. It's clean, pretty and family friendly. The decor is more subdued than other Mexican restaurants, with a "cooler" feel. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with recommendations from the menu (which is very well done - I actually wondered if they were a chain!). We were a bit confused by the ranch dip that came out with the salsa and chips. The waiter described it as a cucumber/sweet/ranch sauce. I didn't taste the cucumber in it, and I'm not sure it's best paired with tortilla chips. The salsa was good though! I ordered the Chiles Poblanos and my husband had the Chile Colorado. Both were adequate, although the batter on my poblanos was mushy and I probably wouldn't order them again and there were onions in my husband's dish, even though he asked and was told there were not. We also had sangria-margaritas, which hit the mark! They offer their margaritas in three sizes, we went with the medium, which was more than enough for me! We may give them another shot, I'd love to see a them do well, but Lunada hasn't taken the place of my other favorite Mexican restaurants.

Awesome restaurant! Takes a little while to get your food, but it is sure fresh & delicious when it arrives. Sometimes, good things take time, people, so be patient! I had the Taco Salad w Chicken, and a Pomegranate Margarita -- both of which were yummy!

My next (and last visit) was so bad - the waiter started to set our check down - and instead look at it and said, "You know what..." and just crumbled it up. He gets points for that - this is a really nice place and I plan on giving it yet another try at some point.

Meh. Had better. Had worse. Would try it again I'd I was in the area. But would choose Casa patron, los margarita, or Fiesta mariachi if I wanted good flavorful Mexican.

Meh. If you're familiar with El Vaquero in the Columbus area, this is very comparable, although a half step below honestly. The kids got tacos and I picked them up the instant they were delivered and the shell was so soggy they just literally crumbled apart. My wife ordered the fajitas and requested black beans instead of refried. The server remarked "The kitchen is too busy, they don't want us to do substitutions" so apparently, what the kitchen wants is more important than what you want. That seems to go along with the earlier reviewer's experience where she couldn't order one fish taco because they didn't want to "waste" the rest of the fish. I got the Burrito Jalisco and it was very underwhelming. LIke the tacos the tortilla was very soggy, with water practically standing on my plate. To top it all off, the french fries on the kids meal weren't crisp at all. The fried ice cream was pretty good, although the tortilla shell it comes on had kind of obviously been sitting in the fridge awhile. The more I write, the more I'm sure we won't be back.

This was our third visit here and each time has been a delight. The service is quick but unobtrusive. Happy hour is a little later than other places which is nice. The food is pretty solid and the decor and ambiance is quite pleasant.

Went with wife and 4 yr old daughter on a Sunday night. Service was excellent, chips and salsa came fast, drinks fast, food fast, bill fast. Very efficient, which we appreciate with a small child. As far as the food itself: Chips and Salsa were good, I liked the white house sauce they bring too - sweet and spicy. I had the Burrito Gordo with Steak. It was huge. I honestly liked it much better than similar large burritos from El Vaquero or Las Margaritas. The steak was perfect and slightly crispy, the flour tortilla was fresh and firm - not soggy. The veggies were fresh and tasty, and the white cheese over the whole dish was fantastic! Wife had carne asada, which she said was very good but not excellent. My daughter chose the beef taco with fries from the kids menu. She would have really preferred fruit as a side, but her only options were beans, rice, or fries. The fries were pretty good. She took one bite of her beef taco and said it was gross - now mind you, my daughter's favorite night at our home is soft taco night. My wife and I both took a bite of her taco, and she was right - it was horrible. Almost spit into your napkin horrible. So I left quite satisfied full of my yummy burrito, my wife fairly pleased with her carne asada, and my daughter still needing for us to make her something when we came home because her taco was grotesque. We will probably try this place one more time before just returning to our normal El Vaquero or Las Margaritas.

The Pros: I've been to this location more than any other in the Mill Run area. In my opinion, it's a must-visit if you enjoy well-made, authentic Mexican food. Always a pleasant experience, there is almost never a line even during typically busy dining hours, the atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and the service couldn't be faster or less intrusive while still being attentive. Every dish I've ordered seems to come in record time. What the food lacks in presentation it more than makes up for in quality and freshness of ingredients, a good-sized menu, and great drinks such as the sangria and frozen margaritas. The dishes themselves are consistently high quality and never greasy or substandard as I've had at other Mexican locations. My personal favorites are the Enchiladas Rancheras and Fajita Burritos, and I also have a new favorite with their chicken tamales, which can be ordered as part of a choose-your-own combo. Prices are reasonable and appropriate. The Cons: Almost none to speak of. I would like a bit more variation in their menu, as it does seem like the same ingredients are simply recombined in different ways, but since everything is always so good anyway, it's hard to consider that a fault. Aside from higher-end locations such as Cantina Laredo, this is the best Mexican I've had in Columbus.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
