The owner/manager of this grease ball joint needs some help in the customer service area. We ordered an order of shrimp pad Thai tonight... With the peanuts on the side since we were sharing it, and were very rudely scolded with " NO PEANUT ON SIDE....YOU GET PEANUT OR NO PEANUT." Unbelievable. The peanut topping could have simply been given in a side cup. We were so shocked we continued with the order, all the while being scowled at and given dirty looks from behind the counter. After the fact, we wish we would have said "NO PEANUT NO NOTHING" and walked out.... We will not be visiting again. This guy is a real jerk. Karma :)

Got hives after eating pork pad Thai. Never happened before in my life. Maybe the msg or fish sauce? I will not return.

I have to admit I didn't try this place for quite sometime because I knew they had another location and thought it was an establishment similar to Panda Express. I am so happy I tried it! They offer a wide variety of dishes, my favorites are the Singapore noodles (chicken, extra spicy) and tofu General Tso. They always prepare everything fresh and very quickly (within 15 min) and the portion sizes are large especially considering how reasonably everything is priced. I now go quite often and have even had it delivered which was also very quick.

I really liked the lemon chicken I had. It basically taste the same as the West Broad location but I rather go here to get it due to customer service. While I was waiting for the food, the cashier and another guy was very nice to me and thanked me for coming in. Not sure about the other choices of food because that's all I get everywhere I go. I love lemon chicken.

This restaurant is decent. I've ordered delivery twice and the orders were right and they were timely both times. Portion size is good - the dishes will feed my 125 lb. self three times :) We first tried this place when we overheard some people talking about how great the shrimp toast was. It is a good little appetizer to munch on. The pot stickers are also pretty good, especially if you like a little ginger on your pallet. I wasn't impressed with the happy family or the vegetable lo mien, but enjoyed the sweet & sour chicken and shrimp with lobster sauce. For the money this place hits the mark.

Don't waste your time. Yes, the food is cheap. With that you get poor quality food that is on par with the food court at your local mall or the Panda Express drive-through.

Red Curry Chicken with steamed rice is my favorite dish here. Beef & Broccoli, General Tso's, Chicken or Shrimp Lo Mein, Pepper Steak, Pad Thai, and Garlic Chicken are all delicious. Crab Rangoon is a solid choice for an appetizer. Their wonton soup is also pretty tasty. I wouldn't recommend the egg rolls, they taste like breakfast sausage to me. Service is always friendly & food is prepared quickly. Even during their busy times we've never had to wait more than 10/15 min for our food.

Tried this place many years ago, and absolutely hated it. Refused to go there for a long while. Decided to give it another try (hopefully after 5 years, they've improved?). They did, in a way. It's by no means the best Chinese available. But if it's close to you, it's okay. They deliver and their prices are fair. They offer tofu dishes which is great in my book. It's average.

my husband and I ate here on Oct 29, 2014. We ordered our food and we watched as everyone before and after our order receive their order, so we inquired and the cashier said they had made a mistake on the order and she was having them remake it. after several minutes we took our order home, it was cold and a lot less food than we usually received. We called spoke to the cashier and she said it was because they were busy, we asked for the manager she said he wasn't in but after talking a few minutes more the manager got on the phone and said they did the best they could and would not offer any apologies or to make our meals right. We will not eat at this restaurant again!

It took me over 5 years to give this place a second chance and I walked away happy and full. My wife and I tried this place when they first opened and we hated it. We have friends who frequent the place so we thought we should give it another shot. My wife has a history of having bad Chinese lately (if you read my reviews it seems like she always hates her meal). So we ordered three dishes to ensure happiness. We ordered General Tsos, Pad Thai, and a Red Curry Chicken. YUM! All 3 dishes were delightful with a nice spice to the Pad Thai and Red Curry. This was one of the better Fast Food Chinese experiences I have had lately. I think we found are new lunchtime Chinese option. They are more expensive than my favorite Chinese place on Broad, but closer. The price isn't that different so I will be utilizing this place more in the coming year. My only complaint was that Brown rice was an extra $1 which I did not know until I looked at the receipt. They had a sign saying "We Now have Brown Rice" but no comment on it being extra and the cashier never mentioned it. Bad service. Other then that the service was friendly and quick. I guess all places deserve a second shot after a few years.

They give a lot of food for little price, however I FOUND A DEAD FLY COOKED IN WITH MY FOOD. I can't ever eat here again.

The last time we visited we ordered an ice water with our meals. The guy behind the counter said one ice water only, how rude! We decided to visit again, this time my son and i both ordered garlic chicken without vegetables. Without telling us they charged us both $1.50 extra. When we reviewed our receipt we were told the $1.50 charge was for extra chicken (that we didn't order). The lady taking orders chimes in and tells us the $1.50 charge is because we had no vegetables. Watch your bill, the menu prices do not match what they charge you. While we were eating my son and I witnessed the guy cleaning one side of the grill while food was cooking on the other side. He was spraying cleaning chemicals, they were flying into the cooking wok next to where he was cleaning into someone's food order.

So disappointed. . Was told 20 mins for delivery of my very small order but it took them almost 45 mins.. and the food was cold and I didn't even get any fortune cookies.

  • Robert L.

Fairly fast and looked like everything where the food was prepared was nice and clean. Friendly, prompt service and tasty food. The sweet and sour sauce was one of the best I've had. Fortune cookies are not free with a dinner which is kind of strange and disappointing. Also not open on Christmas, which you'd expect from a Chinese place.

Thanks GC! Because of your flimsy to-go packaging of my wonton soup, my car interior got the pleasure of absorbing, what usually is, a very tasty soup. Your Styrofoam containers SUCK! The lid doesn't fit properly and when you put it in a paper bag, it's a DISASTER! For the love of Buddha, change your soup containers!!!

I got carryout when they first opened and the food was just bad. The egg rolls were even bland. No interest in going back.

The building's exterior and interior are top-notch. It makes you think that this is a higher quality establishment, but it's really a hybrid between your typical Mall-fast-food-food-court-Chinese joint and a restaurant. it's not someplace I'd bring anyone to impress them with your knowledge of fine Asian cuisine. It's a shame, because this place physically looks awesome but the food is waaay too oily, salty, and the sauces taste off. It's OK Chinese food. I've since reviewed other places in Hilliard. So far the winner is Golden China Express. It looks like a dive but the food is two stars better than Golden Chopsticks.

  • Kate M.

Used to love this place. Is it just me or is Golden Chopsticks slipping a little? My favorite thing here is the teriyaki shrimp. I don't go as much as I used to but I still enjoy getting my favorite menu item from time to time. However...my family and I ordered take out once and they had completely messed up our orders. My dad also found a long black hair in his food which ruined all our appetites. After that incident happened, none of us are huge fans anymore.

  • Hilary P.

Yep. Meh. We recently moved to Hilliard from Dublin, so we were on the hunt for decent Asian food. Hungry family ... desperate times. Golden Chopsticks was "OK". It was a straight-up three-star place ... decent food, delivered hot to my door, awesome prices. We were used to paying about $50 for a similar order at Panda Inn, and our bill was about $30 with a tip and the $2 delivery charge. The egg rolls were passable - clearly not their forte, but tasty. The crab rangoons were very very bland, and contained virtually no crab. Husband and I usually fight to eat them all, and we each ate about half of one and said "done with that, moving on now." My entree (chicken and mushrooms) was OK. The chicken wasn't very good quality, but there were TONS of mushrooms and the brown sauce was tasty, so I gave it a "pass". Husband's Wor Sue Gai was OK. He liked that it was actual GRAVY and not some weird yellowish goo like some places. Oldest Kidlet had Beef Lo Mein. There was a TON of it, and it was pretty tasty. Everything was served with an ice-cream-scoop sized serving of very dry "fried rice". Mine was tasty with my chicken-mushroom-sauce combo, but Oldest Kidlet was amused at how awful hers went with the Lo Mein. Husband was too busy inhaling his gravy-laden chicken to care. We got done eating and were all "What's my fortune?" Um, there were no fortune cookies. After reading a few Yelps, I realized that you have to order them. WTF? OK, that's fine, but fercrissakes ASK ME if I want them. So yeah. Solid 3-star experience, but I took one away for the icky crab rangoons, poor quality chicken, and WHERE THE HADES IS MY FORTUNE COOKIE?!?

I have ate here several times as well as ordered takeout. It's about what you'd expect from quick order Chinese restaurant. Pretty much has your standard Americanized-Chinese menu. As another reviewer noted, my meal's typically have way to much oil and not much taste. The portions are huge, usually enough for a meal and leftovers the next day. I have had eggrolls and crab rangoon, neither of which was spectacular. If you want a "quick fix" at a low price, then this place is passable, but I'll look elsewhere usually.

Ugh. What the hell happened to this place? I used to to occasionally stop in at Golden Chopsticks, and they weren't anything that was going to light the world on fire (though I agree the decor was nice), but it was pretty good. The red curry chicken was good and they did a lot of the "staple" takeout Chinese dishes well. I decided to get delivery from them yesterday and I think it might have been the biggest mistake I've made all month. Pork lo mein should not look like it's been cooked in motor oil, and the orange beef had a really nasty chemical taste. I thought it might have been due to the smell of the styrofoam containers everything came in (the food was hot enough that the container was actually melting), so I moved it to another plate. No change. I don't know if they changed owners or what, but the food has gone way downhill. I'd avoid them if at all possible.

EVERYTIME!!! I order from these guys the frack up my order! Then it tastes nasty, and it's cold. I ordered because my daughter likes their sweet and sour shrimp. So we apparently didn't say COMBO after EVERY single order... so they didn't ask if we wanted it. We called back the guy was rude, so customer service they severely lack as well. Save yourself the hassle. Go somewhere else!

I was kind of nervous to order from here after reading the reviews, but I gave it a shot because they deliver to my house and the weather was nasty. Delivery was quick. The food arrived hot. I got chicken fried rice, pork fried rice, chicken wings, and steak skewers. The fried rice was excellent. The wings were good and crispy. The steak was a slice of beef that wasn't really seasoned, but it was good. I think this place is underrated. I will definitely eat it again.

This isn't like your normal run of the mill, family run Chinese restaurant. It's clean, modern, and the food is quite good. I like this place because it doesn't feel like I've walked into a grimy hole in the wall. I tend to get that feeling with most Chinese restaurants. The menu is pretty typical but made fresh to order. Their fried rice doesn't have an unusual yellow tint to it and tastes like real fried rice. Their sweet and sour chicken is delicious and the vegetables are always crisp and fresh. Their menu is displayed on several HDTV's however, it's not exactly the best format. You see, the screen tends to shift to another portion of the menu or a picture of a dish every 10-15 seconds. So it's best to use the paper menu they have sitting out. They do deliver, however, I can't imagine your food tasting all that great after sitting in a steamed up Styrofoam container for at least 20 minutes. I always go there to ensure the freshest meal. Overall, Golden Chopsticks is cute and delicious. I would recommend them over any other Chinese restaurant in the area.

Out of town for softball. Hotel clerk recommend. Nothing about this place is good. Service was slow. Bathrooms are dirty. Air conditioner is out. Food is not good. Never again.

FIRST timer - WILL be back! So are you kidding, what are all the complaints with this little place? My General Tso's chicken was very hot, very flavorful, and too abundant a portion for lunch! The sauce was of good consistency and proportionate to amount of chicken. The rice also of great texture, moist and mildly sticky was more than a reasonable portion at two heaping scoops - and also served hot. YUM! The Vietnamese Vegetable Spring Roll was completely delish taunting me to grab a half-a-dozen to go as I live more than an hour away and wasn't sure once gone I'd be filled with regret. This piping-hot little crispy gem jammed full-o-goodies flaked nicely with each bite, but so busy cramming it into my face did I fail to note much of the content beyond a sliver of mushroom. But ohmygooooosh, more of those little addictive sticks in my future! On the non-food side...I was really taken aback at how clean the floors, counters, stainless food prep/cooking surfaces and overhead hoods were. This was not anything to which I've come to be familiar/expect in a Chinese restaurant. Additionally, as an anally organized individual did I feel a tinge of jealousy at the beverage and condiment/cutlery display and counter. Wow, good food, very reasonably priced, clean environment AND time to contemplate visual displays? Not to be remiss, I received the staff - both American and Asian - to be courteous and friendly. I've not come across an Asian restaurant with a couple of young guys behind the counter greeting guests and taking orders, but nice surprise. Both friendly and cognizant of the customer/s experience. Another observation of which I appreciated was the neatness, organization and consistency of the condiments on each of the individual tables. I also noted the effort made both towards the furnishings themselves in addition to the lay-out. Instead of the tired, dusty and dated Asian hodge podge of artifacts, there was thought put into the flooring, walls and seating. Also appreciated as a customer, was the cleanliness and visual attractiveness of the outside of the building. Beautifully blooming bright Glads within neatly manicured landscaping. Outdoor seating area free of any debris. All together these things suggestive of someone with an appreciation of attention-to-detail. I translate that as if that level of detail is valued, then that says something about the owner's attitude towards their primary purpose for their biz - food. The only negative -- those *&^%$@# crying, screaming whining kids on the other side of the dining room not being addressed by the (loosely defined) adults with whom they were with. Grrrr!

Checked this place out for the first time last week. I was first impressed with how clean everything was, I ordered the honey walnut chicken. It didn't take to long to get to ready and I didn't mind waiting since it was made fresh right there. It was very good. I thought the price was a little high but if you get their lunch specials it's very very reasonable. I will be going back for more.

I don't understand why so low ratings. This location is clean, friendly and the food is great for the price. I got Hunan Chicken and it was good. Serving time was 10 minutes and they were quite busy. I would go back. They also deliver which is a plus. Dinner with a drink, sit-in tax, and combo cost less than $9. For that price it is totally worth it.

I am saddened to see the reviews on here. I totally love this place. I must say, though, I am a vegetarian so I have not tried any meat. My fiance does eat meat, though, and so does my friend and they both love this place. I get either the string beans, or the spicy tofu dish and it is sooooo good that I am excited to eat the leftovers the next day. I love that they use a lot of sauce because I like to mix my rice in and eat it.... its not dry. When I called and ordered one time... he took my order like 5 before closing. (I didn't know they were about to close) He could've not answered, or said they were closed, but he didn't. The food is very hot and fresh! I could only go here for chinese food and be happy!

This was my 3rd visit. Nice decor for a Chinese take-out, almost Panera like. Friendly staff. I had some of the worst food ever served to me in a Chinese restaurant. Egg roll was passable. Fried rice passable. Entree - full of oil. Chicken meat was combination of breast and thigh, but every piece had a large quantity of chicken skin attached to it. Accompanying sauce was oily tasting as well. Portion size was very large, but 3/4ths of mine found its way to the garbage can at home. Big minus as well no fortune cookie or hot mustard for my egg roll. I can not recommend the place - the quality of their chicken is horrible - unless you like chicken skin...

This restaurant used to be one of the best restaurants in the columbus,OH area. Th food quality, cleanliness have deteriorated consistently over the past two years making it one of the worst chinese places to eat. I have given several chances to this restaurant and they has consistently deteriorated in quality. Last time I ate here I fell sick. I would not eat here again until quality improves. This restaurant used to be very good in 2009. It still has the potential to be number 1 if they are willing to improve quality of food and cleanliness. I also recommend them to move to Aluminum containers to serve their food versus using the cheap foam based material.

The first time I went to Golden Chopsticks, they had just opened. I was happily impressed with the interior design; the young and upbeat wait staff; and the mixture of all things Pepsi, Coke, and Gatorade living happily together on the drink display shelf. The menu was a little hard to follow as it's shown digitally on a set of three flat screens (the fourth was playing Food Network), but there were some hard copy take-out menus on the counter. Still, I miss the order board traditionally hung over the cash registers. On the first visit, there was only one other group in line with us. The food was served quickly. It was still scorching hot by the time we got it back to our apartment. Greg was very happy with his General Tso's. I was a little less impressed with my Vegetable Egg Foo Young. The gravy-like sauce that accompanied it was a little strange, and everything tasted like new cookware - you know, that metallic taste. I had to use a lot of salt to spruce things up. We went for a second visit last night with some friends. This time, the place was packed. We were given numbers after placing our orders. 1173 and 1175. It would seem that they would make the food in the order that the customers ...well, ordered. But 1179-1181 were served before our 1173 was, and our 1175 had to wait until the cooks had cycled all the way through 1187 before receiving their food. It was a pretty screwy system. My Home Style Tofu (fried with veggies) was pretty good. The brown sauce was uncommonly sweet, but I liked it. We also ordered Ma Poh Spicy Tofu (good, and actually a bit spicy) and General Tso's (not so spicy). The Spring Rolls were apparently delicious, and I would rank the Crab Rangoons the second best I've had in Columbus thus far (counting Molly Woo's as number one). The Fried Rice was delicious for fast food. The new cookware taste was gone this time. My only real qualm was the extremely long wait time and the scraggly cashier who kept touching his mouth, face, and the cash register and then would turn to help bag and box orders. It's not my favorite Chinese in the neighborhood, but it's okay.

This place is fair. Its not great but they do excel in a couple areas. Their sweet and sour chicken is a family favorite but the other dishes we have had are pretty poor. When my kids want sweet and sour chicken, I suffer through but its not a place to get a great chinese meal. Also, their crab rangoon is great.

We called by a week or so after they opened, and I was actually crossing my fingers as I walked in the place because I SO wanted it to be good. Sadly, this is just your generic, crappy fast food Chinese place. You place your order at the counter, hang around waiting for it to be be cooked, then they give you your food in styrofoam boxes and cups. Nasty plastic flatware too. Actually, nasty TINY plastic flatware. Really weird. Btw, we didn't get takeout. We ate there. And you still get shitty flatware and styrofoam. I went for the Combination Lo Mein combo which came with fried rice and spring roll ($6.95). The rice was dry and tasteless, and the spring roll was your usual stuffed-with-peppery-cabbage dealy. The Lo Mein was actually pretty gross - I had a grand total of 3 small shrimp, and I honestly could not distinguish between what was pork, beef or chicken. It was just a bland oily mess. The steamed dumplings ($4.75) were actually pretty decent. The hot and sour soup ($1.50) bland but super peppery. Cans of soda and bottled water weren't bad at 70c each. Oh, don't even touch the nasty greasy squirty bottles on the tables - the Chinese "mustard" is watery and weird; the "sweet and sour sauce" is hideous. It might be that they were still getting their act together having only just opened, but all in all this was average at very best. Two stars cuz of the dumplings; one star otherwise.

Inexpensive with good flavor. I usually get the Red Curry Chicken and Crab Rangoon, but I've had other dishes that are just as good. And to the people who complain about the cheap styrofoam containers and plastic silverware... it's Chinese take-out. I mean, come on. You get that everywhere they serve take-out.

I've been eating at Golden Chopsticks since they opened. In my opinion, in comparison to the other Hilliard fast-food Chinese restaurants they're the best quality and value available. The Garlic Pork is wonderful, with a spicy sweet sauce and lots of fresh vegetables. Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice (which I always order spicy), Chicken Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken are all fantastic and on my list of regular items. While this food will never be confused with actual Chinese Cuisine from mainland China, it is excellent for the fast-food Chinese restaurant market.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
