Hot Head Burritos Menu

They have a lot of sauce and toppings to choose from. I like their options. It's a nice difference from Chipotle. Yes, it's the same concept but their food is quite different. I like it and recommend it to anyone looking for something new. Staff is always nice too.

Food was decent. Basically another variation of Chipotle and Qdoba. Just depends if you're in the mood for something a little different.

Seems to have more options than Chipotle, but I still like Chipotle better.

Awesome spicy steak burrito and chicken nachos are killer! Not sure what others are getting to say the food is bland. Great selection and tons of flavor. I'm a bit annoyed at fellow yelpers for giving such low ratings...I almost passed this one up.

I think it's funny how people tend to think that Chipotle was the first burrito place ever invented. With that being said, this is a pretty decent place to grab a burrito. Its not the greatest but it isn't bad either. There are certainly many more options to choose from than Chipotle offers. I have not made it through trying each of the different sauce options yet, however I have been pleased with the ones I have. They certainly have sauces with plenty of kick, if that is what you're looking for.

Hot Head Burrito was a lot more tastier than Chipoltle. Spicier which I love! Great sauces to choose from. Similiar ingredients then ole Chipolt...Great spot! Will be back!

Hot Head is where you go if there's no Chipotle and you don't feel like Taco Bell. We went here after hearing it was really good, and wanted to like it just as much. We didn't dislike Hot Heads exactly, there's just so little to like. The food is very bland, and though there are many options, they all taste like nothing much. Not bad, but far from good. We wished we'd gone to Chipotle. Only major complaint is that apparently napkins are a scarce commodity at Hot Head. There are no dispensers for them anywhere, and believe me I looked. After waiting for the food line to get a break I asked the kid behind the counter for some napkins...and he gave me three. Right then I decided never to go back. I'll spent my money where sauces, napkins, and flavor are not in such short supply.

This place does not even deserve a star. My husband and I decided to give it a try... I wish that we had not even came here and wasted our money... we should have taken the hint that this placed sucked considering the whole restaurant was empty and that only two people was working. The food tasted so bland and it was disgusting. I would never go here again.

1 star for customer service, 3.stars for the food. My experience here was not a good one. This would be the 2nd time going here, the first being when they first opened and I ordered a burrito, and from what I remember wasn't very good, so I never went back. I decided to give them a 2nd chance so I ordered some tacos. The customer service was terrible. They either couldn't speak much English or just have very poor listening skills because it was a nightmare trying to get a built your own taco. The prices were pretty high but nothing unusual for these days. Although I didn't get what I wanted on my tacos(and I felt like I was being rushed through the whole process), I did like the tortilla shells and the meat was better than Chipotle.

I never knew that it was possible to fill a burrito with so many things and have it come out so very bland. Nothing was fresh and it was obvious to me that all of the ingredients were unseasoned and directly taken from either cans or packages. The entire burrito was cold, which was strange, as they seemingly heated the tortilla with a press and took the ingredients from heated buffet bins. I tasted no cheesiness despite adding extra cheese, no sourness despite adding sour cream, and no spiciness despite adding habanero hot sauce. What is this? It's not a burrito. They don't even roll them correctly; all the burritos are egg-shaped! Usually when I don't like a food, it's because it is either just nasty tasting or the consistency is gross. This place is something else entirely. Hot Head Burritos is a flavor black hole. The service was also terrible, as my server got snappy at me about what was in the burrito that he just made for me. Despite me answering his question, he still got angry that he didn't understand what was in my burrito. I don't mumble much. Maybe the earwax in his ears that caused him not to hear me has more flavor than Hot Head's sad, Ohio-shaming burritos.

Great place to eat burritos. Get the li'l burrito its huge, with white rice, chicken, banana peppers, sour cream, lettuce, 3 different cheese! I would visit again.

I can only speak for this location only but they are so cheap!!! First off they sell burritos and bowls for the same price, however if you want your burrito in a bowl so it doesn't make a mess when you eat it they charge you an extra 60 cents!!! For what??? They barely even put any rice in their burritos anyway. Also they charge extra for almost everything. Cheese sauce $1.00, extra cheese, gauc. etc. they nickel and dime you until you have a $10.00 burrito. They also give small portions of meat (not like chipotle) and then want $2.50 if you want extra meat. Their lettuce is iceberg not romaine, and their other ingredients are subpar too. Stick with Chipotle as you get a higher quality product for a lower price. And how they can charge 60 cents for a tortilla they give for free half of the time is absolutely incredible. And how they do not understand how dumb that is, is more than enough reason to eat elsewhere. SMH.

  • Joseph S.

I like this place over chipotle because you can get a quesadilla!!!!! I love quesadillas, but if you don't eat it quickly it will get soggy. Other than that I enjoyed it here.

    (4)
  • Michelle L.

It was OK. Would I go back? Maybe. It's just like chipotle but with sauces. It's not as salty as chipotle though. Rice is bland, steak was bland-- the pork was good. I def like chipotle better though.

  • Kayre H.

So apparently every reviewer is going to compare this place to Chipotle... which is reasonable. It's the exact same concept. As for which is better I honestly think they are pretty comparable. Good, fast, inexpensive. The food was pretty tasty and they have more options - particularly in the sauce department. Sometimes less is more though, and I didn't quite know what to do with the large list of sauces. They let you sample them, but tasting multiple sauces from a spoon was actually kind of weird and I felt didn't give me a particularly good idea how it was going to taste with the flavors in my burrito. So I think I'll just have to pick sauces at random and try out new ones on my meal each time and see how it goes.

  • GC B.

Not a fan of Hot Head Burritos. In my opinion just another clone of the Chipolte concept. The ingredients in my Burrito were sub-par, and the up charges for a drizzle of Queso and a spoon of Guacamole remove the value aspect mentioned by others. The much heralded sauce assortment is controlled by the serving staff, so you cant really experiment with the sauces.

  • Bill M.

I've finally been here enough to warrant a comparison to Chipotle. Quality of meat, chips and service goes to Chipotle, but if your tired of Chipotle, Hot Head's greater variety of sauces and salsas may keep you entertained longer. To me for the lunch crowd Chipotle does a better job of turning over the crowd. If I see 15 people in line at the Chipotle up the street I'll wait as they are efficient. Here, I'll turn around if I see a long line and probably go to Chipotle. The chips are fresher and tastier at Chipotle. Both are good,

    (4)
  • Scott V.

Yes, at its core, this is a clone of Chipotle. If you like their food, you'll generally like Hot Head too. However, it's worth nothing where I think they are different and why they've appealed to me, and where this location has done well: * Sauces - This is where Hot Head really sets itself as different from Chipotle. As opposed to the Chipotle approach where it's all about the salsa and toppings, you can use sauces to give your burrito a lot more unique taste. I'm a fan of both the house favorite "Hot Head Sauce", which is spicy with a garlic kick, and the Sweet Habanero, which is not very spicy but has a good sweetness (so not let the name fully mess with you). * Extra Toppings - They don't add anything major with toppings, but you have onions, jalapeno peppers, and banana peppers, a little more variety than Chipotle gives you. Outside of that, it's pretty similar, but that isn't a bad thing of you like the flavor. * Atmpsohere - It's a little more old school in atmosphere, TV's inside, more standard in their environment to a normal small restaurant of this type, as opposed to the unique look of a Chipotle. That may or may not appeal to you, I've just done takeouts, so I don't care. They've also been offering a lot of coupons locally in the mail, but they also have a nice "2 for $10.99" deal on Sundays which undercuts the price of competitors quite nicely. So why four stars? Well, the stuff I've gotten from there has been top notch, the flavors good (although I wasn't a fan of their spicy chicken, that's just personal preference, I'm more about the sauces for flavor), and the service friendly. It's nothing earth shattering, but it's done more than well enough to get the job done, no bad experiences in at least a half dozen times in the store. As a result, the place is recommended if you want to try something different than Chipotle flavor-wise, at least so far they've done really well by me.

Good Stuff! Wish we had one of these in Indy! It's like a subway for burritos....with lots of good ingredients and toppings

I always like a good copy cat... and this is a good one! 98% identical to Chipotle. They have a few different options, sauces, meat. big and little bowls. Well worth trying it out once or twice.

  • Troy S.

I am not going to go crazy for this place since I still place Chipotle above this place. I went in on the first full day of opening and I saw more suits than anything else. The service was friendly and helpful with explaining anything one needed. The menu does pretty good of explaining everything but it is a little busy and takes time to read. Once you go here one time then it will be easy to read but the first time takes some adjustment. It is the same concept of Chipotle with a lot more options. They also have more choices for those who want to eat less and not be tempted to eat a whole burrito like at Chipotle. The Hothead sauce is also very tasty. it isn't that spicy but has a really nice flavor. I didn't think that the spicy chicken was all that spicy. I tried the Verde salsa which was good, but next time I plan to try all the spiciest sauces and salsas. The burrito was good size but a little smaller and stickier. I am not sure why it was sticky but it was a little. They make their own guacamole which I plan to order the next time to see how that tastes. I didn't order it initially but then I talked to the lady at the register and she gave it a good review and told me it is freshly made there. They also have a free card where you get double stickers on Tuesday. This is a welcome addition to Hilliard. I suggest at least trying it out.

NO, NO, NO! Save your time & money & go to Chipotle. I tried this place once & it was enough. It was last winter, there was a snow storm & many places were closed. So I decided to try this place. The workers were super nice, but my food was so nasty. Maybe because it was dead out.. But if you're going to stay open serve fresh food! My mom went there about a week ago & said it was so unsanitary. A guy in line picked his nose, & then handed the credit card to the cashier who had gloves on.. The cashier was then seen agin touching food. Whyyyy would you use the same gloves touching money / credit cards & then touch food? My mom had already checked out, but said she couldn't stomach to eat her food.

Personally, I like this place better than Chipotle. I'm a girl who loves variety, and this place has it. Several different sauces to choose from (my favorites are the hot head sauce and the sweet habanero!). Every time I've had it, the meat and veggies tasted and looked super fresh. Not to mention their cookies are a great little dessert! My one gripe is sometimes I feel like I'm annoying the staff by even walking through the door. My last visit, I was so rushed through the line and the guy even checked his phone while I was talking. Rude! He even forgot to ask what veggies and sauce I wanted in my bowl, and had to stop him before he proceeded to the register. Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me. Other than the (sometimes) crappy service, I love it here. The food is what keeps me coming back.

We stopped in here a few weeks back and I was very disappointed. I couldnt help but to not compare this place to Chipotle. I'm your average cook and I could of built you a better burrito than this place can. Oh and I wont load your burrito bowl down with more lettuce than you can beat in one sitting. Chipotle over Hot Head Burritos anyday. Sorry.

  • Gerry O.

Better than the C******le, the spicy steak is spicy, the Tomato Salsa tastes like TOMATOES, and the HotHead sauce has some good heat. I will eat here again!

Really glad these folks expanded to Columbus. This place immediately jumped ahead of Chipotle on my list of Mexican options because of greater variety and prices. Have tried the pork, steak and barbacoa and enjoyed them all. The signature sauce is excellent as well.

Love this place the first time I went in I was a little confused on how it all worked but the gentleman behind the counter walked me through each step was very pleased. Second time I went in it was dinner hour and they had a few people in line the wait was no worse then a subway and the food is always warm and tasty. Affordable and love their punch card husband and I have already filled up about two.

  • Matthew G.

Pretty good, nice variety. However, not quite as good as Chipotle, Qdoba, Burrito Bus. If there was a more convenient location, then I'd bump them up a star.

My husband and I have been dying to come here but Hilliard is just not on our usual route, finally we made it here for lunch saturday and really enjoyed it. I love the Chipotle concept, am just SO tired of Chipotle, not that I have eaten there more than twice which is I'm sure less than anyone else living in Columbus especially, I'm just tired of seeing it everywhere and each location having lines out the door, really what is in there, CRACK?!! Nope, not with me, I refuse to follow the masses and Hot Head is a great diversion. Bigger, better selection, and tastewise just as good. I had the brown rice, very tasty in a bowl with extra grilled veggies, good guac and all the sauces on the side so I could sample them all. Unfortunatly it was so many I had no idea which was which so I can't say which one it was that I liked best, I'm guessing it was honey bbq or chipotle, it was almost black, thick and sweet and very very yummy. The rest also good, they really covered all flavors and every tastebud can be pleased. Suprisingly my husband was not that hungry this time so he only got the spicey chicken which was recommended and very good and my son got the qusadilla. So meatwise that is the only one I can judge, but all the fixings great and fresh, the owner and guys working all very nice, in all very pleased and will be back for more.

We tried Hot Head for the first time today. I have driven past many times, but didn't realize it's concept, otherwise we would have tried it much sooner. Also, we had an Entertainment Book bogo coupon so what did we have to lose? My wife and I are having success eating a lower carb diet and I loved that you can pick and choose exactly what you want and how much you want. We both ordered a Big Bowl - no rice or beans. I had the chicken - very well seasoned and juicy. I added the grilled onions & peppers, pico de gallo, jack cheese, sour cream, the hot head sauce (a garlicky, creamy sauce with a little kick) and guac. The guacamole was really good. My wife the same, but with steak and she said it was awesome. I love that they have so many options and that it is explained very well so you don't feel totally overwhelmed. Another plus is that the girl that helped us (Emily) was patient and helpful - offering us a taste of the sauces and answering any questions. People compare this to Chipotle - the concept is pretty much the same, but Hot Head has SO many more options. If I had to choose between the two I would choose Hot Head. They were extra liberal with the sauce and sour cream so next time I will ask for just a little of each rather than their standard amount. I also noticed they have shrimp so I am already planning my next bowl. Shrimp and steak.mmm. If you are curious about Hot Head Burritos you should definitely give it a try.

Alright... The good: The place is bright & clean. The staff was really helpful & super nice. The meat has relatively good flavor. They have 2 burritos for $10.99 deal. The bad: a pretty big ripoff of chipotle/qdoba/moe's... The rest of the toppings were really really bland (rice, beans, salsa). I don't know about any of the hot sauces because I also do not enjoy mouth pain... But from what I've read they're also bland. So if you are into Ameri-Mex food but hate flavor or heat, you might enjoy Hot Head's.

  • Jessica S.

I like hot heads but hate that they put onions in the corn!!! I love corn!!! But hate onions!!! Also never buy enough meat!! Always have a lot of rice and a lot of beans and little meat!!!!! And this goes for all hot heads not just one! But I normally go to London hot heads just wasn't on the review and barely go bc of these reasons!

Better than Chipotle. All of the stuff that one can get at Chipotle AND many more options. Burrito OR Li'l Burrito. Burrito Bowl OR Li'l Bowl. Nachos. Tacos (Hard or Soft). Taco Salad. Quesadilla (Cheese or Meat & Cheese). Deluxe Quesadilla. Vegetarian Burrito. Vegetarian Bowl. Meats include Steak, Spicy Steak, Chicken, Spicy Chicken, Pork, and Ground Beef. You can add normal stuff like Rice, Beans (Black or Pinto), Lettuce and Sour Cream BUT (unlike Chipotle) you can ALSO add Banana Peppers, Jalapenos, Onions, Monterey Jack Cheese, or Cheddar Cheese for free. In addition to salsas (Tomato, Corn, Verde, and Wild), they also have 12 different sauces that range from "Mild 2 Wild." I'll definitely be frequenting Hot Head because of the option to get smaller portions (my Li'l Burrito was great!), the prices are better than Chipotle, AND they have a stamp card that (with 10 stamps) can get you a free entree.

  • Shawn M.

Bring your appetite, because here you will need it. The portions here are larger than Chipolte's when I order the same thing. Hothead has more versatility with there creations creating more options, and makes you burrito, bowl or w/e you truly one of a kind. The have deals on Sundays so check that out. "Two entrees, two sodas, and chips with salsa for 10.99." This place knocked Chipolte off of my favorites list. Top 10 favorite places to eat.

Not a fan of style of food. I must say I like this a lot. The pork was flavorful. The burrito was okay. I will try the quesadilla next time. The chips were great. The crew was very helpful in explaining the different options. The manager took pride in his store, cleaned tables, and came out to check on us. We will come back, heck may even stop to pick up to take home.

My boyfriend and I love this place. Both are fans of the Hot Head Signature Sauce and the friendly staff every time we come here. Only complaint is sometimes they make burritos a bit too big and they fall apart when we eat them. This is a weekly stop for us because the food is just that good.

The first time I had Hot Head was in Dayton, when a friend told me it was better than Chipotle, I didn't believe them. I tried it and now with one here in Hilliard, I can honestly say I prefer Hot Head to Chipotle. Though most of the menu is comparable to Chipotle, Hot Head has a variety of items that they don't. Burritos and bowls come in small sizes for those who occasionally choose to be dieting like me. They have Nachos, they have queso, quesadilla's (not just with cheese for kids), they have good ol' taco meat, you can choose to have your protein spicy, pineapple, and finally COOKIES! I feel like I go here once a week and still haven't tried all the different sauces. First timers should definitely try the Hot Head Signature Sauce. If you're not sure what sauce to get, they let you taste test! Less expensive than Chipotle. They usually have good deals, like 2 for 10.99 or free cookie Monday. Plus I commonly get coupons in the mail in the penny saver (if that's even what its called) Finally, they have a rewards card! I think its something like after 10 or 12 stickers, you get one free! You get a sticker for each entree purchased, vs each visit. You can't beat my favorite, DOUBLE STICKER TUESDAY. This phrase has become a staple in my house. Go on Tuesday, a family of 4 you get 8 stickers, which is more than half your card!

This place is kind of like the Ashlee Simpson of Mexamerican food. It's the lesser known sibling of the big success (Chipotle) so it tries to emulate its sibling a little too much but somehow still comes out better than the other. The food at this place is great and although it's a blatant rip off of Chipotle, it is actually better in a lot of ways. First of all, I have to make the obvious comparison. It's the same experience as Chipotle. You pick what you want: burrito, taco, bowl, etc., then pick from essentially the same ingredients Chipotle offers and go down the line till you have have a big pile of stuff wrapped precariously in a sticky tortilla that will fall apart as soon as you start eating it so you take a fork anyway and you wonder why you didn't just get a bowl. The reasons it's better are because it has a lot more choices, and you can actually get it mild if you're one of the few people left in this world who aren't masochistic lovers of mouth pain. I love Chipotle but what has always kept me away is the stuff is just too damn hot. I know that's the fad now but not everybody likes pain. At Hot Head I can get it however I want it. There are a few additional toppings like onions and peppers or taco meat but it's essentially all the same as Chipotle. But you can get it on nachos or a quesadilla too and there's about a dozen different sauces you can put on it ranging from mild as baby food to flaming hot. You can even get the tortilla flavored. The chips aren't quite as good as the lime salted chips at Chipotle but they do have a white cheese dip like what you get at El Vaquero and it's delicious. No yellow melted Cheez Wiz here, this is real cheese and it's so good, you'll be looking for other things to dunk in it. I will say the meat doesn't have that smokey juicy delicious taste that Chipotle's meat does but at least my mouth isn't on fire after and it's still good enough. So all in all, Chipotle has its strengths and so does Hot Head. It's hard to say which one is really better, but I'm going to Hot Head from now on. It'll be a while before I've tried all the different combinations so I won't get tired of it any time soon.

Hot Head Burritos is a burrito that anyone can make at home after shopping for 15 minutes at the local grocery. Everything they use there is out of a can or out of a bag. Pre cooked, pre cut, pre packaged. They have a great variety of sauces and condiments but that only adds to confuse the consumer into thinking they are getting a good deal. The flavors get muddled and there is nothing that can stand on its own there individually....the rice is overcooked and probably instant, the cheese sauce is straight from a can, the lettuce is pre-shredded and bagged, the chicken was minced up too small and was dry and flavorless, the chips are NOT fresh and clearly from a bag and too salty. As far as QSR restaurants go..this one is at the bottom of the list.....if you head over there craving a burrito..do yourself a favor and go to 5 guys instead. Or you could go to the GFS Marketplace down the street and buy every single product that they use and make a burrito yourself.

If you want mediocre head to Hot Head. As a fan of all spicy food I was intrigued by what Hot Head could offer; but it was not to be. It's a Chipotle style fast food joint with a few more options. There are the standard chicken, pork, steak, veggie fillers along with pinto/black beans. Where Hot Head is different is the ability to add more sauces. However, these are pretty standard and don't add much to the flavor. Prices are about the same as Chipotle but the food is lower quality. There wasn't anything wrong with Hot Head but it just wasn't better than anything else. How can you be a burrito joint and not have hot sauce bottles on tables available to add to my burrito? if the sauces are the signature differentiator why not have a sauce bar for me to add to my burrito? I won't be going back to Hot Head. As a hot food lover I was hoping this would be a new place to frequent, but its average at best and brings nothing unique to the table.

Meh. I've experienced better. At Chipotle and Moe's. I will say that this place is better than QDoba, but if you've read my reviews of Qdoba you know that isn't saying much. The only difference I noticed here from Chipotle, apart from food that didn't taste quite as good, were the sauces they offer. But after tastes of three different burritos (we got this for a work lunch) I could barely tell the difference in taste though they were meant to have very different sauces. Also, the rice was just sort of... mush. Which was strangely gross once I was chewing it. I really wanted to like Hot Head, but it fell short of my expectations, and the expectations of everyone I was dining with. The consensus of the group was "I wish we'd bought Chipotle."

Was a good burrito but not for the price.

AWFUL........ Like most other reviews we were interested in the possibilities of adding unique sauce to our burrito. However the food was terrible, The assembly line of food was mixed together ( ie lettuce and beans in the sour cream) and looked very unprofessional. We ordered a meal for two which included two burritos chips and salsa. We chose to substitute the salsa for queso a 1 dollar up charge. However we got a shot glass of cheese and prepackaged chips. Everything at this place is extremely packaged, canned, and processed. NEVER AGAIN.. I would anticipate this place being out of business by August. Why would anyone spend the same price for a burrito filled with crap when they could get a good, much more healthy burrito from Chipotle.

  • Sarah L.

More choices of toppings and sauces. You can also get a small or the regular size....price is more reasonable here but the quality at chipotle might be a little bit better. (atleast I thought the rice and pork I get from chipotle taste fresher) I also prefer chipotles bowl containers vs hot head cause both the top and bottom are shallow and it doesn't smoosh all your food together when they cover it, unlike hot head. However, I will definatley be going back to hot head again cause when you say EXTRA on something they actualy understand you and give you what you ask for instead of ignoring you or pretending they didn't hear or understand you.

    (4)
  • Nick K.

It's basically a knock-off of Chipotle, but not as good. It's definitely about the quality, not the quantity. My only hope is that it draws enough patrons away from the real Chipotle, so that the line there is a little more tolerable.

    (2)
  • Eric J.

lacked flavor. The pork, beans, rice...everything tasted the same. Mush.

I've always loved Moes because they have a salsa bar where customers can get to it, I will always love moes. I have to say though I've tried Juan's Mexicali, as well as Chipotles, and now this was my first time trying Hot head. I want to say that I lub you hot head! You are so delicious and tasty in my tummy. The people were nice. Service was fast, and friendly with a smile the whole time. They explained things unlike most other places I've gone that do stuff like this. So happy to have a place that actually knows what SPICY is!

Love fresh fast casual! Took the burrito to go and now know I should have gotten a bowl - it was juicy with sauce and such from the fresh veggies. Delicious - great to have lots of burrito options out there!

My spicy chicken burrito was bland, so was their salsa. Not comparable to Chipotle in my opinion. I did like that it was clean and well decorated, but neither napkins or forks were openly available.

    (2)
  • Melissa B.

The food here was ok, not great not horrible. There are many choices here but that seems to slow the process down considerably for a 'fast-food' option. My main issues are freshness of products and service. The food is not very fresh tasting especially the chips which are served in a hard to open plastic bag and the queso did not have much flavor. The service although it is fast food I had to ask three times to get everything I ordered and needed. I needed to ask for my chips, a fork and napkins. The cashier would quickly turn away after I would say something get the one item I asked for hand it to me and leave again even though I was still standing there, this was very frustrating. I think there are better options available.

  • Andrew R.

Been to Hot Head Burritos twice in past two days. Service very satisfactory inside. More choices than Chipotle for meats and sauces, plus they have banana peppers which are my personal favorite. Pricing a bit cheaper than Chipotle too.

    (4)
  • Heidi W.

The food was very bland, not much flavor if any. The service was crap. The cashier/burrito maker made a personal phone call asking his "boy" is he had any "Zannies". Then he had the nerve to ask me if I had any. This was the worst place ever and I will NEVER go there again.
