Another great lunch at Doma, amazing restaurant, very authentic, only thing missing is a fanny bag on the servers and them settling the check right at the table.

I was a big fan and regular of the old Doma but continue to frequent the new Doma Na Rohu, but mainly for breakfast. I was looking for a place to take my visiting cousins for lunch and thought their lunch menu looked appealing. We were all very happy with our selections. One had the sausage selection which he said was excellent, another the burger with that very special bun that they have and I had the brisket sandwich with a side of the red cabbage. The sandwich was delicious and although there were many items on the menu that I would like to try, I think I will have a hard time not ordering it again when I return. I don't know what took me so long to get there for lunch. I've always wanted to get there for dinner when they have the pig roast. I'm sure it's great and now I will really make the effort. Service was pleasant and efficient.

I'm going to try a new format, food with how I felt in that moment I ate it. Burger: YIPEE KAY YAY! Fries: WAHOOO! Brisket: MY PRECIOUS! All the Beers: CHUG CHUG CHUG I think that covers it all. Oh and the atmosphere was the cutest shabby chic.

Last time I was in NY I ended up trading in the hotel´s breakfast for the opportunity of trying out local Tribeca/Soho/Village cafes and restaurants, that´s how I came across this charming German/Austrian restaurant. The breakfast food is great, loved the cream cheese stuffed French toast. Service was good and attentive. The ambiance is simple but cozy. Prices can be higher than what you are willing to pay for breakfast, but it was worth it.

Ish I liked: - the pub decor - the outside seating option - the beer selection - the views of the busy streets through large windows Ish that annoyed me: - the 'tude of the tattooed-up bartender chick - the broken light fixture with the bulb that felt like the sun on my face I doubt I'll be back. I'm still debating it.

I thought the food was great, but service was lacking. We received the menus, drinks, and food fairly quickly. The waitress even checked on us once. However, once we were done we ended up waiting for about 20 minutes for someone to come by to our outdoor table. A different waitress took our dessert order, which arrived in 20 minutes. The check arrived soon after. The servers were very nice, but the timing was an issue. We ordered the bratwurst, venison, and kielbasa sausages. All three were great. My favorite was the bratwurst. My boyfriend liked the kielbasa best. I've definitely had better kielbasa but it was really tasty. To go with the sausages, we got red cabbage. It was good but not the best I've tasted. We also got two pretzels (one with mustard and one with cheese). The mustard one was awesome!! The cheese was good but didn't compare to the mustard. It was also great to dip the sausages into the mustard. For dessert, we ordered the apple strudel. It was pretty good. Overall, the food could've packed more flavor but I definitely enjoyed it. We will definitely return. Most importantly, they are dog friendly. Perhaps, the timing was a one time issue. Considering how quick we received our food in the beginning I don't think it's a constant issue. This was also the cheapest dinner we've had in a while. Our total bill was under $40. Tip: If you are not accompanied by a dog, try to get a seat inside during rush hour. There was so much honking that my ears started ringing.

Quite possibly one of the worst places to spend your hard earned money in the West Village. The "pretzel" tastes better off a food cart, the fries are better at Macdonalds, and the pork belly was a charred awfully small three slices that would make any hispanic establishment weep. The "pick three" option was even worse, run of the mill meat, chicken liver was ok and the Gouda was soooo sad. Honestly hate over priced restaurants that put ZERO love into their food. I never write reviews and I'm simply trying to help, spend your money elsewhere, this place isn't worth it. Service was fine, atmosphere fine.

Being Slovakian we always bring our visiting family here.... I got my moms food to compare it to so I'm super biased! The last time I came everyone got their food except my steak never came but it was fine because we had ordered a duck and a full chicken. The chicken was super juicy and the duck was surprisingly delicious, wasn't crazy about the sauces or the red cabbage as it was way too sweet. The steak tartare was delicious and dare I say competed with my moms, also get the fried cheese app!!! Over all I like this place a lot! Small claustrophobic bathrooms are probably the only down side!

Doma Na Rohu is a quaint place that seems to triple as a bar, restaurant and cafe that people come to get work done at (esp since there's outdoor seating) i've come for both dinner & to get work done in the afternoon ---iced chai: made with real tea not concentrate so it's not naturally sweet!! soy milk is available but it's an extra charge ---bratwurst: savory & good.. it's $4 per sausage or 3 for $11 ---kielbasa: this one had a nice smokiness ---na rohu burger: really JUICY patty & buttery toasted bun! it's served w/ fries ---pretzel: nothing special, served w/ honey mustard ---doma salad w/ beets, cucumbers, & tomatoes: this was refreshing PLUS you can add a sausage to it, which i did! staff here has always been nice and accommodating Thanks PayPal for the freebies

What a great little place, I'm so glad places like this can still open (and stay open) in West Village. I've been here multiple times and this place is so consistent and great. First off, their food is faaaaaaantastic. They've got: Amazing appetizers- sausages with variety from duck to rabbit to kielbasa to name a few and their melt-on-the-fork-and-in-your-mouth brisket- Amazing entrees - the beer and honey roasted chicken is so goddamn good the memory of it keeps me up all night Amazing desserts - Need I say more than muthafking Nutella bread pudding Amazing beer selection - No BS beer here, their shit is from Europe and tastes like salvation Amazing coffee/tea/scones/muffins - Their brunch menu is out of sight too Doma Na Rohu does literally everything right. They've got that hometown feel, reasonable prices and dream-worthy food. Also I hear they do some swinging jazz nights that are genuinely off the chain energy-wise. Like I literally don't know what else you need to know about this place if none of that appeals to you... though on second thought, if none of this appeals to you then please stay away and don't bring it down for the rest of us in our Shangri-La known as Doma Na Rohu.

This is my spot in Manhattan I am always here. Everything is perfect. I love the sausage, the potato salad, the best lox bagel in the city in my opinion. The beer. Not to mention the pretzels are perfect. Even the house salad is amazing. Coffee super strong. All the servers work very hard with never an attitude. I never get tired. Try doma and u will see! Today I had the combo sausage potato salad & pretzel with small beer! So good doma na radu west village u are great, thank u.

I love this place, it's definitely a happy hour go to for me. They have Pilsner Urquell on tap and half liters of beer are $6 during happy hour, with $5 wine and $25 bottles. The food is really affordable, we usually get the 3 sides for $14 deal. They used to have fantastic brussel sprouts but I think those are now just part of "seasonable vegetables." My favorite dish is definitely the Smažený sýr, which is a fried brie-like cheese (butterkase) that comes with lingonberry preserves. I could eat that all day, but I usually try to get a vegetable too. Their spatzel is very authentic and I've heard that the sausages are pretty good. Pretzels, cabbage, sauerkraut, and latkes are all good options as well, but I would not recommend the bread dumplings. The atmosphere is super cute and cozy and they have outdoor seating when it's warm. It's a great place to hang out for a couple hours with well priced happy hour drinks and appetizers to share.

How to order at a Czech restaurant: Step 1: Listen to the waitress give the specials Step 2: Pick out a word you recognize and cling to it like a needy girlfriend/boyfriend Step 3: Repeat the word back to the waitress and say "I'll take the special you mentioned with the (insert familiar word here) in it" Step 4: Sit back and enjoy whatever you're eating with a tasty pilsner. In most instances, you're better off not knowing too much about it anyway. In case of emergency: Just order the schnitzel Enjoy this great place with wonderful food and lovely service!

Doma Na Rohu was exactly what I imagined West Village restaurants to be - welcoming, cozy, and warm. Thanks to Paypal for allowing me to discover this hidden gem! - I stopped by on first day of offer to grab a quick lunch to go. The owner/hostess/waitress was very sweet and patient as I struggled to decide on my order. Ultimately I went with camembert sandwich which came with a side salad. As she rang me up, I quickly learned that I was actually her first customer to claim the paypal offer; in fact, the first customer to use paypal ever. After we went over which buttons to press on her tablet in which she seemed somewhat impressed at how easy the process was, she then took her time to chat to me about the business, specials, event planning. Very genuine and I honestly love it when businesses spend their time I getting to know their customers and hear their feedback! The sandwich - Loaded with thick cuts of battered, fried, gooey Camembert with perfect amount of jam - I was more than satisfied with just half of the sandwich. The salad like Harry H. Mentioned was overly dressed to a point it was a bit soggy - perhaps it's better to ask for dressing on the side. Nevertheless, I was impressed by the food and especially the service - would definitely be back!

This was our last meal in NYC. It was right next to the apartment we were staying in, so we kept passing it whenever we walked anywhere. The thing that drew us in was the outdoor seating (on a beautiful day in NYC) and the fact that it was a German/Czech cuisine which is not something easily found in our hometown of Jacksonville, FL. We ordered some coffee (delicious and served in a cute little cup with sugar) and some brats. My boyfriend ordered the boiled brat breakfast (that comes with the pretzel) and a side of potatoes. I ordered 3 brats (the two spicy ones and another that I can't remember) and a side of kraut. The prices weren't bad (by NYC standards) and the food was perfectly cooked and filling. I couldn't even finish my 3 brats! The best part about the lunch is that we got to sit outside and people watch on a wonderful corner in the West Village, but the food was very good too. I would return if we were staying in this area.

I came here for brunch after wandering around the WV in the blistering sun. I was in the mood for hash & eggs, and their prices were decent. the decor and atmosphere here is really pleasing, it's definitely a nice place to relax with a drink. when we got our food, we were a little stunned at how small the portion size was. $15 for 2 poached eggs and probably 1/2 cup of corned beef hash. it was delicious and very well seasoned (but probably more of a stew than a crispy hash) but left us pretty hungry. they didn't even offer a side of toast. BUT the coffee was excellent and the service was quick, so maybe don't come for eggs... the burgers ordered by a nearby tables looked great. try that.

So cozy and intimate, and the food is good. When it comes to atmosphere, Dom Na Rohu has it down! It is so cozy and the noise level is nice and quiet. You can really sit down and enjoy a nice dinner here. If this is the kind of food you are looking for (Czech/German) then it is a good place. The bread dumplings (houskový knedlík) are not that good though. Haven't ordered them for awhile so I am not sure if they have improved since. Would recommend: any of the sausages (less the wild game ones here though. They tend to be a bit dry for some reason). They make a delicious red cabbage with just the right amount of nutmeg/cinnamon. I am pretty sure they serve it warm (depending on your preference this may or may not be a good thing). The cucumber salad is also delicious, as well as the seasonal vegetables. The goulash could use a bit more meat. And they server Pilsner Urquell!

Every time I've been exceptionally pleased. Food is wonderful, fairly priced, authentic, and seemingly healthy. Simple, real ingredients. Great produce and high quality meats and veggies. Cooked correctly. Will regularly stop in here for a coffee to relax in an unpretentious atmosphere and enjoy the interior decor, as well as the windows for people watching in a great neighborhood. Strongly recommend as a coffee shop, cafe, or restaurant, whichever your needs require.

Things 'round here have changed I say, too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye-aye* A PayPal deal (what else) brought me to this cozy little West Village Czech spot, longing to enjoy the sidewalk seating but instead opting for lunch takeout. The friendly hostess-slash-waitress took my order for a Grilled Camembert Sandwich with lingonberry compote ($9). Aside from no utensils in the bag for the side salad (solid but slightly overdressed like those people who don't ditch the winter coat until June) and the slightly longer than necessary wait (which I understand given the decent number of filled tables and single server on the floor), a very pleasant experience, albeit maybe not a $10 sammy. Their well-regarded breakfast options of Babicka, cream cheese-stuffed French toast, the Czech brunch box, and house-made oatmeal will have to wait for next time. *If the name of this place doesn't inspire a 'Come On, Eileen' singalong for you...well, you are either Czech or didn't grow up where I did...but alas, nothing to do with Dexy's Midnight Runners to be had here, for better or worse...definitely better. If for some reason it sounds more like a spot that belongs in Chinatown than on Morton (at 27.5 no less), you're probably not alone there, either, especially since some items don't seem particularly Czech, but more Eastern European-American. Total - Item #INV2-SF76-2YL6-3WML-G5WL -$9.80 Unimpressed with the Spaetzle Plain, as well as the dismissive service based on my order and the takeout option $5.00 Special Offer -$5.00 Total $0.44 Knedlicky (bread pudding) - superb -$5.00 $0.44 This must be the bare minimum to call them latkeS Latkes $5.00 -$5.00 $0.44

Second time we tried them now and they don't disappoint. Food is fresh, tasty and high quality. So far we had the succulent duck, chicken, liver pate & veal schnitzel. The duck brings you back to memories of a Nordic Christmas and the liver pate is very homemade tasty. Great food. We've had everything delivered, so no opinions on the place, delivery person was very sweet.

Went for Saturday brunch. I really liked that they let you pick your seat and the place is cozy and cute. My boyfriend had the oatmeal and I had the turkey, Brie and avocado sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals although they weren't anything to rave about. It's a great corner location in the West Village with a diverse crowd. A couple got engaged a couple of tables away and next to us sat two Russian gentlemen. The staff didn't seem to rush anyone off (at the same time, they weren't very attentive), so seems like a nice spot to relax and enjoy some coffee and food.

I would give this place 5 stars for food and the vibe, but unfortunately the service was what is knocking down this rating. Went on a Friday night with a 10pm reservation, although reservation did not seem to be needed upon entrance, probably because it was past typical dinner rush. We were able to choose our seats, and the second we sat down the hostess abrasively asked us what our drink orders were. Being that it was our first time here, we were not familiar with their drink menu (or any of their menus) and asked for a minute. We did even have our coats off yet. It seemed a little rushed right away. When our actual server came by, she was friendly and courteous and very knowledgable about the menu. No complaints about her, and I wish I knew her name because she was lovely. We started with a meat and cheese platter, which was perfect for two people. For dinner we ordered half roast duck, half size brisket, and one braut. All were delicious, and a good amount for two (hungry) people. It was about 11:30, and we wanted to order dessert, but upon attempting to order, our waitress looked at the hostess, who signaled that the kitchen was closed. However, they advertise that they are open until midnight. We did not argue about it, it's dessert and we were content with what we had already eaten, but clearly they were just trying to get us out of there, being the last ones in the restaurant. Had there been notice of the kitchen closing, we would have been fine. But it was clear that they were making a game-time decision to close early. Upon signing the bill, (which was very reasonable for the amount of food) they cut the music off, which seems like Restaurant 101 of what not to do. Before we were both out the door, all the lights were on. Again, all before midnight. I will try this place again, just to give a second chance. I understand that maybe something was going on where they NEEDED to leave early. But it was executed in poor taste.

The bartender was really nice and gave some good recommendations. The Bratwurst und Spätzle and the brussel sprouts were good. The wild boar sausage was not great. I never had it before but I really would never recommend it. I really didn't like the fact that dinner was served on a wood cutting board was really awkward. I would go back to try other things but nothing too deviant from the traditional fare

Have looked at this place everyday when i walk to my subway stop and decided to have a couple of beers with a colleague one evening. The waitress suggested what was on tap and turned out pretty good. Have seen jazz being played a couple of times a week during the weekdays. Only thing to keep in mind if sitting outside is the potential tunnel traffic on 7th ave, especially on thursday and fridays...gets very noisy.

my boyfriend and I just went in because after a walk in downtown we were cold and hungry..I remembered the place from the summer time when they had tables outside and it looked nice and always wanted to try them ... but it was always too busy. The service was fast, I ordered steak and eggs - thinking I will get some kind of eggs and few pieces of steak...also because it was 14$..I had a nice surprise when I received my plate: the stake was good , it came with sweet potatoes and delicious salad and eggs. My boyfriend had Pork schnitzel also with salad and potatoes - a dish like in Austria :) . Bottom line I loved the place and certainly will be back

Being of Czech heritage, I wanted to try this place out since we were staying in Midtown. The beer was fantastic. I ordered the roast duck and it was huge. Very tasty and moist. A nice berry sauce added to it. The sauerkraut was very tasty and not over salted. I'll be back.

Hi. Ordered a cup of coffee and the barista thought they ran out of cream. A woman eating breakfast at counter said that they may have had a delivery come in and left to check. One minute later, there was half and half being poured into my cup. Amazing customer experience! Her name is Evvy, and she owns the place. Nordstrom got nothin on Domo!

DO NOT for any reason order the chai latte. It doesn't feel like there is any tea or milk in it, just cinnamon. I know I shouldn't even try chai in the US, I have always been disappointed, but this was surprisingly even worse. We stopped for brunch, and I had the egg poaché, with spinach and salmon on bread, and it was okay good. I also tried the the banana choco chip bread, which is pretty heavy and sweet. Not a bad place, I wish we could have tried the lunch menu instead of the brunch. An okay restaurant.

My first experience at this quaint venue other than Sunday. What a pleasant surprise. Jazz on Tuesday night. I just can't say enough about how this place is what all "Village" spots should be. Like the old days. A little music, fair prices and great people. Real "neighborhood stuff". Looking forward to many returns.

Excellent place. Every aspect was great. Food. Beer. Dessert. Service. Ambiance. We got a variety of things including pick3 cheese and meats. The house made cheese spread is delicious as are the freshly sliced salami. The pick3 wurst were delicious. Pan fried spaezel was great. And the Nutella bread pudding is worth the trip. I loved the setting too. Wood paneled bar/cafe. Run, don't walk.

We ended up here completely accidentally and it made me a firm believer in karma The young lady who attended to us happened to be the owner She made us fee like guests in her home And it certainly didn't hurt that the entrees came out amazing. We give it 13 stars out of 10. Really. It was a great spot

Very quiet on a weekday morning. I stopped by for Organic Oatmeal with fresh fruit & soy milk ($9.80 total) - a very enjoyable, hearty breakfast! Large windows and the restaurant's corner location allow for plenty of sunlight and fantastic people-watching during the daytime. It was pretty busy when I returned on a Wed. evening, so service was a little slow. 10-15 min. wait for the Bavarian Pretzel ($4.36), which tasted just OK, but slightly better with the strong, sweet mustard. -Happy Hour Sausage Und Pretzel ($6.53): Good soft pretzel if eaten right away. The sausage was essentially just a fat hot dog.

Let me preface by saying I am a Czech born who doesn't drink beer, yes i have had the stares and laughs all my life. This place will forever go down in history as the place I had my first Czech beer (granted in a very tiny glass) - Krusovice, and I loved it... After Zlata Praha closing and Bohemian Beer garden's kitchen turning for the worse, I have been looking for a place where I can get my childhood's food cravings another boost. Look no further than Doma Na Rohu (Home On Corner, or At Home on corner), my family heritage and origin is Czech and Polish and German, growing up in EU we did pig roasts and all sort of other things I miss here. Apparently this place does them every last Thursday of the month. Additional kudos. Beer, grilled klobasa and bratwurst and beer, short but sweet menu from all over EU tending to stay towards the eastern border but with clear german influences (citing oma's recipes.. which means grandma in german) AND amazing Ska/Jazz band and your bill for two around $30 - yeah MORE please. Much more. I am snippet short on being totally in love with this place and I may have to return tomorrow, I feel this place has created a tiny green monster on my shoulder that will be telling me to return often and scream in my ear if I don't.

I work across the street from here and decided to check this place out for dinner. I came with a group of 4 and we each got something diff. I picked the beef goulash and house made spaetzel. The beef wasn't bad. Wasn't anything special either. The spaetzel on the other hand was like a pile of flavorless mush. My bf thought to was similar flavor to gnocchi and he seemed to like it so I jut gave it all to him. My friends ordered the clams. It came with fries but they said it wasn't filling enough. I tried one and wasn't a fan. My bf got the cage free roast duck and it was the best dish of the table. It was moist and juicy and tasted like how duck should taste. Don't think I'd go back though. Sorry.

Let me preface my review by saying this was my first time having this type of cuisine, so I don't have anything to compare it to. With that being said, I found the food to be just alright. I was with a group of friends, so for apps we shared the braised ribs, fried brie, and sausage platter. All three apps were very good, especially the ribs. For an entree, I had the beef goulash with spaetzle. The beef was very tender, but aside from that, the dish was lacking flavor. My favorite cuisines are Thai, Spanish, and Indian, so compare those to German, and I imagine every dish I would have tried would have seemed flavorless. I also wish my meal came with a piece of bread, would have gone perfectly with all the leftover gravy. Nevertheless, I wouldn't say it was a bad meal, just not for me. For dessert I had the apple strudel. Delicious...but very stingy on the ice cream. Maybe a tablespoon of ice cream. My other friends shared the nutella bread pudding, which they said was amazing. The place is on the small size, but accommodated our party of 8 just fine. The staff is extremely friendly. If you're sitting against the wall, you may find it a tad uncomfortable, since the design can dig into your back. I just propped up my coat, and I was fine. I could have done without the live music. For such a small place, the music just cuts through any conversation. We had to basically scream over the music. Overall, a nice experience, but that could have been because of the company I was with. Has this been a date, I would be singing a different tune, I think. I don't think I'll be coming back, but that has less to do with my experience, and more to do with the fact that German food is not for me.

This place was a delight. One of the few places open for breakfast in the area. It was cute - quaint, overall pleasurable ambiance. It seems to be a place where friends meet up. The food was great. I had the "Babischka" (sp?) it was Yummy! The people were very nice and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place.

I really wanted to like this space and it's lovely when you come in. I got rather excited, when I saw they had pancakes and Kartoffelpuffer. OK they are called Latkes here, but its just good old potato pancakes. But in general I was not blown away by this cafe. The chairs and tables are not comfortable. You can feel the subway rumbling along underneath you. The service is friendly but slow and the portion size ... well it looked like something from a gastro pub. This is not what I imagine when I think of German and Czech cooking. To be honest the Latkes was rather nice, but for the price they could have been bigger. After all they are poor mans food and cost near to nothing to make.

3.5 We only stopped in for a pint but very much enjoyed the $3 draft beer happy hour prices and the fabulous German beers they had on tap. Yelp lists this as a breakfast and lunch joint but it was def in full swing in the evening...not sure if that's new.

My favourite happy hour in NYC thus far. Craft beers that are delicious and only $3. The food is also very very affordable and delicious. I had the pretzels, pate, and baurenwurst. It is not noisy (unless horns are blaring outside) and never really overly crowded so the ambience is pleasant and not crazy. I brought colleagues from work to this place for happy hour and all have vowed that they want to return for drinks and dinner. My colleagues can be very tough critics -- I like showing them places that they normally would not have gone to and end up liking. Check this place out -- if you like German food and good beer, it will not disappoint.

I knew that Germans were good for making delicious yet simple food, i.e., mashed potatoes, an intoxicating version of chocolate cake, and apple strudel, but almost as soon as I walked in, this cheerful German bistro--the perfect scene for a romantic comedy--made me a fan. The mahogany tables are perfectly sized for snuggling up to your laptop and a plate of XXXs and OOOs, that is, delicious and comforting food that makes you feel like you've been hugged and kissed the European way. Tiny flowers in delicate vases, eclectic music, servers that call you love, and an unbeatable lunch special, which includes an entree with a glass of house wine for $14 equal a great working lunch, especially for an Anthropologie-loving, girly girl like me.

This place is cute and I'm giving them 4 stars for the most kick A$$ ham & cheese sandwich with the most insane potato salad I've ever had. Unfortunately they only offer this on the weekend. IMHO it should also be part of their lunch menu. Essentially they have three different menus. Weekday, Dinner and Brunch, but there doesn't seem to be much overlap between the offerings. I guess this is good, because I would probably eat that sandwich every.single.day . They also offer standard fare, scrambled eggs and breakfast options which are reasonably priced and solid offerings. Their iced coffee also rocks. Minus 1 star because their service is somewhat slow (even when the restaurant isn't crowded) and they also somewhat cold and unapologetic if they forget to bring you something or left you waiting for a while.... hopefully this will improve as they get their sea legs. *I haven't had dinner here yet, but will definitely be back to try hoping for an experience as good as the sandwich.

German/Czech/Austrian coffee shop with terrible and unapologetically slow service. We had to beg for the check and take my credit card to the waitress after waiting over half and hour for a sandwich. More important, the food was unfortunately hit or miss.... a white bean soup of the day was tasteless. A reuben sandwich was incredible but soaked to the core with grease from the griddle. The bratwurst was no good but the pretzel was incredible. This is one of the first places I've seen in NYC to offer sachertorte, and the dessert case looked half decent but we skipped it because we had sat around long enough. The interior is intimate, casually comfortable and spacious. I just can't believe there are many reasons to beckon me back. For now, one and done.

This place is so cute. It truly reminds me of an upscale pub in Europe. We came across it randomly while walking around town. We decided to sit down outside and relax while enjoying their afternoon drink specials. My two girlfriends enjoyed a few glasses of one of their white wines while I enjoyed one of their beers on tap. Unfortunately none of their Czech beers were on special that day; however, I ended up trying a beer I'd never had before from the States and actually enjoyed it immensely. I don't know if I'd eat here given all the other amazing eateries in the area; however, I'd definitely come back here often to meet up with friends and enjoy an afternoon chat session over drinks.

Very lovely delicious place! The restaurant had great sunlight and nice cute ambiance. My brisket sandwich was tasty and other customers looked like they are enjoying their food as well.

We came for the beer and liked our dinner here. Frisee salad had some good flavor combinations. Stuffed cabbage was excellent - pork and veal wrapped in cabbage leaves - served over barley. Spaetzle was good but not the best I've had. Draft beer is the reason I found the restaurant. Staropramen is an old favorite and it is served in three sizes - 0.3, 0.5 & 1.0 litre. Unlike some, we did not find the portions small (nor large).

The age of NYC neighborhood spots is dying, but Doma, which is family owned and run, survives and thrives!! I have lived in the neighborhood for four years and would literally cry if this place ever closed--it is a part of home. The food is unexpectedly amazing. You can never go wrong with sausages, mashed potatoes, and sauerkraut--all of these are made to perfection. But their other entrees are unforgettable as well. The duck salad. TO DIE FOR. The mussels..YUM. ATTENTION: Do not go to Doma WITHOUT getting the pretzel!!!! Seriously. Also, get a Czech beer. They have my favorite beer of all time on draft (and if you didn't know, drinking on draft is the purest way of drinking beer). I literally could go on and on about this place...the waitress we have every time is so kind and attentive....the music on Saturday nights is great... JUST GO. DO IT. Don't order in, go to the dang restaurant. It's charming with cloth napkins, flowers, and candles. GO!

Bartender drew me a beer with about a 4-inch head. I asked as politely as possible if she could let it settle for a while (i.e. give me a proper pour, please, no hurry). Stepped away, came back, had to ask for a top off for the now practically half-empty glass (I was alone at the bar btw). Bartender seethed before complying. Oh and they charge tax on beers! At the bar! So you buy a $7 (half-full) beer and you get a receipt for $7.68 or whatever. Who does that?? Plus, tax was way over 8%, not sure how that works. Maybe it's legit but it's a really annoying practice. Didn't even stick around to try the food. It looked good, but I'd had enough. Won't be returning.

This place is super charming and low-key. I came on a date, but I think it would be an excellent spot for a group to hang out over drinks and small plates of sausage, pretzels, etc. I ordered the kielbasa, pretzel, and brussel sprouts...all were excellent and worth ordering again.

Update - kitchen has been up and running for a while now. Their dishes are consistent for those who like German / Austrian / Czech food. Good selection of proper beer and wine. Nice to eat outside in the summer. I frequent regularly. Good value for money and fun.

Living in the west village I find myself here fairly frequently. Usually I come for the morning breakfast. Doma Na Rohu really has a fantastic spread of foods to choose from (I love the oatmeal) for breakfast and some great German cuisine for dinner. The venue also features a mimosa and entrée brunch on Sundays. Only thing keeping this from five stars is that they tend to run out of food very quickly. (Have never been there when they still have bagels in stock). Service can also be inconsistent during busy times. Overall a great place to go for breakfast if you live on the block at a decent price.

Gotta say, I'm really liking this place nowadays. And for a coupla very simple reasons: 1) It's so pleasant. Yes, that simple. And in a very neighborhood-y kinda way that's unfortunately pretty much disappeared from this neighborhood over the years. 2) It works for both adults and kids with neither having to make compromises. While they do have a children's menu, my 3-year old nephew prefers the $5 Happy Hour pretzel and sausage special (he's partial to the weisswurst.) Meanwhile, I can have one of their really great happy hour beer specials. So we're both happy.

In short - Central European village tavern. Menu is somewhat eclectic but consistent mix of dishes from central Europe - Austrian, Czech, Hungarian... Food on the menu is not sophisticated but it's very well prepared. It's what you could expect to be served at home in those countries and that's exactly what makes it good. I tried goulash with spaetzle and sausage sampler with pretzel and both were delicious. Apron wearing waitress was knowledgeable about food she was serving and her descriptions and suggestions were spot on. Beer choices are consistent with the menu, they're regional and the region is famous for their beer, so you'll hardly make a mistake whichever one you order. Portion sizes would be my only complaint. It probably would not be an issue for most but I would like them a little bigger.

I said I would be back and I was! I came back with a friend for lunch and decided to try the roasted duck and butter lettuce sandwich. The sandwich was so big that I needed to separate each half and eat each side as an open faced mini sandwich. The duck was not as flavorful as I was expecting and the sandwich definitely needed the caraway aioli for extra flavor boost. My friend got the three sausage deal and chose venison, wild boar and rabbit. I tried a bite of the venison- it was very hearty and smokey. Overall, consistently good food.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. First I love that the atomosphere here is so calm and homely. You feel relaxed and warm upon entering. The decor is very charming and the staff are adorable and wear matching aprons. The food: The menu is unique, creative, and it delivers. The food is much like comfort food and it is all so so good!!! I highly recommend the spaetzle with cheese, the braised cabbage and you should throw in a pretzel as we'll!! The mustard that the pretzels come with is divine. The perks: The happy hour is one of the best. $3 dollar draft beers (and these are deluxe IPAs and lagers, not crappy. You will not regret trying this place, and the service is amazing. My only fear is that more and more people will find out about it and I won't be able to get a table!!

Got takeout with the PayPal deal. Food was ok, if a bit small and overpriced. waitress was super rude - really did not want to accept PayPal. Kept muttering under her breath "I hate this thing" while ringing me up. Sorry, but I would not have come here without PayPal...probably won't be back.

I live in the neighborhood and like to see small independent restaurants succeed... but this one needs to change their ways if they are going to keep me or other customers coming back. I first tried them for dinner over the winter. I got the duck with czech dumplings and sauerkraut. The duck was cooked nicely. The dumplings were slices of white bread... not good. The sauerkraut was literally one bite of sauerkraut on the side. For $20 they could have given a little more sauerkraut. Since the duck had been good I tried them again when I had another paypal coupon. I went to the restaurant and ordered the czech style crepe (which when I asked what made it czech the woman said it was just a regular crepe) and asked for it with nutella. The woman said it also came with fruit and granola. Since the menu that I had read said "With Plum Or Strawberry Jam Or Nutella" - I presumed the fruit she was referring to was the jam. I said ok, put the fruit and granola in also. What I got... which arrived without any utensils and this crepe required a fork and knife... was disgusting. They put fruit salad that had cantaloupe, honeydew, oranges, and blueberries inside of a crepe with a measly amount of nutella and some soggy granola. Who wants honeydew and cantalope in a crepe? Who wants melon with their nutella? When I went back to the restaurant to explain to the woman that what I ordered and what I got were vastly different - and I even showed her the menu of what I was trying to order - she told me that she very clearly explained it was fruit that was coming in my crepe -to which I responded that I thought the fruit was the jam (the woman had a thick accent, making it hard to understand some of what she was saying). I showed her the menu of what I had tried to order. She showed me a menu that was literally 8 feet off the ground where it was posted and said that I had read the breakfast menu, but she had given me the crepe from the brunch menu (I'm 5 feet tall and couldn't even read the menu they posted so high). I expected her to apologize and offer to make it right... she did nothing of the sort. The customer was wrong in her opinion. I explained to her that I had come in person as I had hoped that she would help make this right and that I could avoid giving a bad rating on yelp... but she quietly yelled at me, maintained that she was right and I was wrong, and I left. I will never be going back here as the customer it appears is always wrong here.

3.5 I really like the local feel of Doma. After walking by several times, and noticing a relatively consistent crowd, we decided to grab breakfast/brunch here on a Sunday. Seating is comfortable along the window. The menu isn't huge but there's some simple, nice options on the menu. Two eggs as you like them (over-easy please), and two sides (greens and potatoes), rung in at $9 and was the perfect amount of food. Coffee was quite good and the bite I had of the french toast was rich, creamy and tasty. So, what's lacking here? The service. It took more than 5 minutes to get menus, and a bit more to place our order, though it wasn't too busy. We also didn't get a side of bacon that was ordered but charged for it on the bill. It's nothing atrocious but it's not put together. And it made the difference in a 3 or a 4-star rating for me. I'd definitely give them another shot, though, to see if it might have just been an off morning.

I have tried going here on two occasions. First I went to get the Grilled Cheese I loved at their old location, only to be told they don't make it anymore. "Do you have bread in the kitchen, and some cheese?" I asked innocently, met with a nod. "Can you make a grilled cheese, then?" was my next logical question. "No, sorry." The next time I went was at 11:30 AM on a Saturday. with a little time to kill before a movie at the Film Forum. I approached the empty counter. Literally, not one other person was sitting at the bar. "I want to get a coffee and a bite to eat and I'll only be here about 45 minutes. Is it OK to use my computer?" Only to be reminded that they have a "no computers on weekends" policy. I can imagine if I were a business owner, I'd discourage this practice as well. But I'd also want customers to patronize my business. So I was shocked that even after I pointed out that there was nobody else sitting at the counter, and that I'd only be ether for forty minutes, and it meant the difference between me staying or not, the server just repeated "I'm sorry. It's the policy, and I Don't want to get fired." Really, Doma? Really? The gal was very nice, at least, and I get that she was just doing her job. But how hard would it be to institute a common-sense revised policy of "no computers during busy times?" Think about it. What if it were super busy, but a Monday? Then I could set up camp at a table and type away happily all day while potential diners gave up, too exasperated to wait? How about a little flexibility and common sense? Too late for me, I won't be back, but maybe others will give you another chance.

Cute restaurant, definitely a type of cafe needed in the area. We came weekend brunch. I had the hash & eggs, my friend had the eggs and sausage. We both ordered our eggs hard, they came runny. We sent them back and it took about 10 minutes for new eggs. Our dishes came back cold, the eggs were new and hot, however they didn't keep the rest hot while they were redoing our eggs. Our extra toa$t was old and stale, did they toast it before they started cooking our running eggs? I think so. Over all it's a cute place, only opened a few weeks. The portions were nice, tasted ok, just not served HOT.

Uncrowded relaxed atmosphere for brunch. You really can't find that as often anymore with the newer establishments. This one is brought to us from the folks from Doma on Perry street. Things that make it 4 stars - Sonka Sandwich- Ham and hard boiled egg sandwich w/ mustard, horseradish, potato salad, and cornichons. - Babichka. - Makos Guba -Croissant. Don't know where they get it from or if they make it in house, but either way, it is a flaky buttery one that won't get snubbed by the French. Not too big, and that's a good thing. - Box of interesting toys & books from Central Europe to occupy the little ones. - Low relaxing music, not in light FM form but in jazz brunch form. - Homey decor that would encourage one to read the paper. Doma proves that a menu does not have to be fancy, just have simple things done right. This summer will be spent shuttling the kid from Clarkson St. pool to here.

Doma brings a reasonably priced cup o joe to an area that does really have many options for coffee shops for at least a few blocks (except, perhaps, Vagabond cafe... anyway). Its not quite as exciting people watching as their previous digs, and the "you can bring your computer from 8-5 on weekdays if no one else is here but DONT YOU EFFING DARE PLUG IT IN" is annoying. Ive been here several times already as its on my way to work and the staff has been extraordinarily friendly - though I question if its because there havent been many folks through the doors yet. -nice staff -minimal use of wifi -reasonable prices -meh people watching -convenient (for me) -decor thats par for the course in WeVill- hardwood throughout, elbow to asses seating just like at their old place.

No. I'm sorry - I liked the old one too, but one can't compare - this is a new spot. The old spot had gigantic roaches and the like but lots of food options. Let's hope they left the roaches there. The one size latte was overpriced and taste burnt - it was just foam really. Its a tough crowd, tough city and you have to have a good product to keep it going. I'm not sure how to help out with that guys. Have a "to go" counter with baked goods and drinks that come in 14oz - try a unique espresso - maybe a Kosher one. If I think of other things I'll update it.

Things that rock: The pasta / risotto dish & the black forest dessert. And nothing beats outdoor seating in the West Village (albeit the busy street). Things that are just okay: The beet salad & french fries.

Not nearly as good as the last location. Service is still not so charming, and they don't have crepes anymore... or customers to people watch... or the nice environment that made the original Doma's great. Really miss the old Doma's :-(

Quaint & charming place makes the think of a classy alehouse. It smells like pumpernickel bread when you walk in the door and it makes you feel nice and warm. I've visited 3x for lunch and each time has been wonderfully pleasant. Service was prompt and the food has come out in under 10 minutes every time. The beer list is excellent. They offer a decent range of light to dark lagers (the Saratoga is my fave) and the wine has also been great. The menu is extremely reasonably priced. I've never had to spend more than $20 on lunch and I've come away as full & satisfied as possible. My personal favorite menu items are the potato leek soup, the turkey/brie/avocado sandwich, the Reuben sandwich and the Bratwurst. The waitresses are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Overall I just feel invited when I come here, and that makes me want to visit during dinner service. I will definitely return.

Great happy hour prices for the area. 3 dollar wine/ciders and imported euro beers on tap? Yes thanks! The selection isn't huge but what they have is good. I really liked the vibe inside. I could see myself chilling here after work with just a laptop while polishing off a cold brew on a hot day or meeting up with friends. Service was extremely friendly.

What caught my eye about this place was the sign that said "happy hour" and "gypsy music" but when we walked in, I found out I just missed happy hour and the gypsy music was really a 3 person band playing in the corner of the restaurant. I was expecting like a show or something from what I read on the sign! Lots of sausage options. Not in the mood so I got a burger-quite tasty. Had a beer too-nice and refreshing on a hot, humid, NYC day. It was nice to have some music playing in the background too! However, the service was ok...the waitress definitely forgot about us for about five minutes when all we wanted was to get the check and get out of there...quite a long process. Couldn't get her attention when she walked by several times... Would probably try to come again if it was happy hour.

Doma moves here from up 7th ave, and we're happy to give our new neighbors a try right away. For the happy hour special, we get excellent mussels with tasty crispy fries, and an ok red cabbage salad. We're happy. We come back just a couple weeks later, and for the same happy hour special we get a portion of mussels less than half the size, no fries and bread that was sliced in the morning and lied around uncovered since then. "What happened?", we ask. "Oh, our costs went up, it doesn't come with fries any more." We felt bait-and-switch'ed. Our yelp-less neighbor friend said their brunch was atrocious.

Love this place. It's a great standby in the neighborhood, whether alone, on a date, or with a small group. Even took the parents here. I love the cozy atmosphere. Service can occasionally be slow. But the food is good. The burger has delicious caramelized onions and perfectly crisped skinny fries just how I like them. The salads and sides are also surprisingly delicious (try the braised kale!). Best of all a great, reasonably-priced selection of beers. One of my favorite places to sit outside on a lazy summer evening. They also have live music sometimes and special dinners, like pig roasts and such.

Love this place! I've tried 7 or 8 of their dishes and have all been really good. They have friendly attentive service, great beers on tap, amazing desserts, and outdoor seating. The space has nice soft lighting, impressive woodwork, and interesting decorations - you can tell a lot of attention was put into creating a nice atmosphere. I is wish I could eat here all the time! Looking forward to trying their pig roast!

This place has the absolute worst food I have ever had at a non fast-food restaurant. My mashed potatoes were clearly instant, the sauerkraut was straight out of a bag, and the sausage were about as uninteresting as possible. The bread pudding was totally disappointing as well. The only saving grace of this place is the good beer selection, and at $3 per glass, this place still made for a fun night. Go here for the beer, but do not even consider ordering any food.

I really don't get why Doma has only 3 stars -- it's really fantastic. Yes, the menu items are unfamiliar to me, but I'll embrace that! Most recently I had the homemade spaetzel with seasonal vegetables -- for the non-German/Czech-inclined, that's just pasta primavera with egg noodles. And it's delicious. Like down to the last noodle delicious. The time before that I had the mussels and frites -- also so good. Not just mussels and frites good, but phenomenal. The service is part of what makes Doma so great. It seems like a family-run restaurant and everyone is incredibly knowledgeable about every dish and every beer. They keep your water full but back off when you just want to chat with your friend and let the meal linger. I can't wait to go back for some of their events.

What an unpretentious little gem! I was quite surprised at how incredibly delicious the food was here! Judging by the interior alone, you would think the place would only be good for ale. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the meal. I had the chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes and lingonberry compote and before I had even finished, I kept thinking to myself how I wished I could do the entire thing all over again! My friend ordered 3 different kinds of sausages (I can't remember the names) but he let me try them and they were all absolutely divine! I can't wait to go back to the place to check out the "Gypsy Jazz" night and try some more of their delicious cuisine!

The restaurant Doma Na Rohu is a German place located in West Village. Most people gave this place four stars for its rating distribution. A tip is to come here when they have live music a few times a week. The most popular dish here would be the Beef goulash and people love this since the beef is very tender. Other people would say that the schnitzel is delicious or roast duck. The prices here are pretty standard for West Village and the portions here are pretty big. For some reason this place is very relaxing to eat at especially if you come in the morning for breakfast. They do have outdoor seating if the weather permits for it and the attire is casual. Although this place does serve breakfast it's recommended to come here for dinner at night. As for waiting time you usually don't have to wait to get in here but they do take reservations in case it's a holiday or just a busy day since they do take large groups of people. The staff attitudes are very pleasant and I always feel welcome when I eat here.

Don't even compare it to the last place, a cafe. This new location is a full service restaurant/bar. Amazing happy hour with good food, wine & beer. It's the perfect neighborhood lunch, dinner or drink spot. My faves are the pretzels, mussels and grilled camembert. You'll love it.

This is not a coffee shop, people! It may have a similar name to DOMA, but this is a German, Hungarian, Czech restaurant. I just grabbed lunch to go here and had the loveliest conversation with the bar tender while I waited for my Schnitzel sandwich with cucumber salad (yum). The place is adorable and happy hour is from noon to 7pm! Can't wait to go back and have a $3 German beer on tap.

I lOVE this place. It's very cozy. I really like the neighboorhoody feel of it. The food is tasty, comfort food-type items in my opinion the cream-cheese filled french toast with fruits rocks. I also like their sandwiches and enjoy the scene there.

If you're hungry for a real german food experience, DO NOT BOTH GOING HERE. There is nothing authentic about this place except the decor. The food is lackluster (overcooked and oversalted saugage - YUCK, YUCK, YUCK) and the portions are ridiculous. I had to ask for bread - yes, I had to ask. When I did, the waitress looked a little stunned. I got it - about 20 minutes after the main coarse was served. RIDICULOUS. How does this place survive in NYC????

As a local, I'm a big fan of Doma for breakfast and brunch, and I'll look forward to trying them for dinner. If it's not busy, they'll let you sit for a while with coffee, which is important to me since I work from home and sometimes need to just get out elsewhere to focus. My favorite thing about this place, though, is the staff who always make is such a nice and cozy experience. Food and coffee are both good and service is attentive but unobtrusive.

Tiny children running around and occassionally handing out menus gives a whole new meaning to 'mom and pop' shop. I wasn't a huge fan of their old location but decided to try their new one and I was delighted I did. I think it may be my new favorite west village find. The pretzel and duck are Amazing! And the prices actually allow me to afford my new obsessions a few times a week. Love!

I was pretty excited to see what the new incarnation of Doma would look like, since I was a big fan of the Perry street location. The space on Morton is beautiful and feels more light and spacious than the old place, and the delicious coffee and welcoming atmosphere is the same. I went during the day and was happy to find my favorites still on the menu, with the addition of some great eastern european/german touches. The German pretzel makes a great afternoon snack, and I loved the dessert I tried-- a Hungarian version of strawberry shortcake. Yum!

Went there tonight to meet a friend for Happy Hour. No-one greeted me. The two staff members were behind the bar having a conversation. I smiled and said hello and was given the raised finger "one minute". Honestly, I was surprised. They are new to the neighborhood and there are many happy hour options. Later on the same waitress approached all smiles but it was because she wanted to take our menu because she said they don't have enough. For me, it's a convenient location but ... BRING BACK THE GREY DOG CAFE!

Good food, nothing fancy but a great quality price. A $10 cheese plate with 3 different cheeses, pretty big plate for the price. A happy hour on Beers ($3) and Wine ($5). A amazing beer selection from germany to belgium and Tchecoslovakia. Same for the wine a great selection at a very affordable price. A very cool place to hang and enjoy good food with good wine. The staff was nice and friendly. We had mussels, cheese, dessert and wine. Everything was good and tasty. The service was fast and friendly.

Doma is a wonderful place to spend time with friends and eat--just as the old location was. It has retained its special feel. I have to agree with Pat B. though--as someone who would often work at the old location, I find it insulting to have a whole set of rules at the bottom of a menu restricting how long I am allowed to sit somewhere, and how. I completely sympathize with the ownership not wanting people to hog tables when they are packed--but a "two hour policy when full" line at the bottom of the menu would address this concern without making people feel unwelcome for the large chunks of the day when no food business is packed. Given that the regulars at the old Doma were a big part of the business (after all, when you sit somewhere for a number of hours, you end up ordering at least one meal and multiple cups of coffee--it adds up!) it seems like poor form to hand them a new rulebook. Just a thought.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
