Stopped here for a salad and iced tea to go. Location was convenient for a late lunch--a few blocks from the office I was working from. Thank you for the pleasant experience, Toasties. Fresh ingredients and quick service. As a side note: My large salad was HUGE. (Only got through half!) Next time, I would likely order a Small. Flatbread came with the salad, which was a nice add-on. Will return for a quick bite next time I'm in town.

I always get a custom arugula salad here with grilled chicken, carrots, diced tomatoes, red onions, and either mushrooms or egg whites with low fat ranch. Top it off with a nice hot chicken noodle soup. The guy that makes salads (I should really get his name...) always makes mine with a smile. I actually really appreciate that and they give you very generous portions!

The salads here are incomparably better and more flavorful than the Chop't next door. The guy who tosses/dresses it will often grab even more spinach and stuff it in on top - love it. Even the pitas they give you are tasty. As far as sandwiches, the Rosemary Firebird is my favorite, and the soups are really good too. Like most places it's very quiet at 12 noon, and gets jam packed from 12:20 onward - so going early is good if you don't want to wait in line.

Their highly raved hot pastrami and corned beef sandwich was completely ruined by over-dose on the Russian dressing. The bread roll was half-heartedly soggy. Not to mention the service was bad... Also, the shop has interior design issues - what the heck going on with the window by those seats? You sit there but you have NO VIEW just wall... One most important takeway on the sandwiches: stop using TOO MUCH dressing on food! we are not there to drink your dressing, but to eat your food, at the minimum, would you please explicitly say the dressing level in the sandwich is controllable? I ended up throwing this overpriced $9 sandwich away, went to the Subway next door and grabbed a Spicy Italian on whole wheat. Guess what, it was A LOT BETTER!

I went back-to-back days to get a better feeling of this place before I reviewed it. It is not fair to give a place a so-so review on one experience alone especially if you see potential. Got the spicy roast-beef sandwich yesterday. Had roast beef, pepper jack cheese, hot peppers, hot sauce. It was whatever I mean it's better then going to cafe metro or oxford cafe and picking up a sandwich. Unfortunately though this place is pricey and the quality doesn't match the standards. Was ready to give it 2.5 stars after yesterday, but I went back today and got the spicy pastrami which was a little better. Good enough to warrant a final 3 star rating instead of 2. The bread is not toasted, which I prefer because if it's too toasted it distracts from the easy eating experience. Pastrami was flavorless, but that's what I get for not going to an actual deli in Manhattan for pastrami. You can probably go to literally 50 places in Manhattan that have pastrami that his head and shoulders above Toasties. The coleslaw on the sandwich was good and the chipotle honey sauce was great although maybe a little too spicy which distracted from the meat and coleslaw during the aftertaste. All in all it's decent, but I won't be going back often for the price, maybe once every couple months to try a new sando. Do not go between 11 and 1 or you'll be swamped by people. They do a good job though of keeping the service relatively quick for the volume of people. If you go after 1:30 you'll be in and out in 5 minutes. very friendly staff, which is hard to find in the various business districts of Manhattan these days.

Very pricey for what you're getting. Selection mediocre. But it's a quick and usually line-free lunch option if you're in a hurry.

:-( I was told there'd be deliciousness, and there was none! Well, almost none. I got the Thanksgiving sandwich (what? It's basically fall already) for $8.95 and it was no good--just flavorless. Probably not helped by the fact that they put about half a tbsp of gravy on it. That's basically a garnish, not an ingredient. I ended up eating a side of steamed broccoli which was fine for what it was--a $3 tiny side that requires almost no preparation. Sigh. So I paid $15 (with soda) for lunch sadness.

your average deli. pay no attention to the address. the entrance is on 52nd street, between 3rd and Lex. Cannot stand it when these places say their address is on Lex, and the entrance isn't within 200 feet of Lex. It's annoying and just bad business. The service was pretty slow. For the chicken teriyaki sandwich, I think it would be better if the breasts were diced up.

The staff here are really quick with orders and payments, and they're really friendly. There are three people who know me as a regular and know what I want before I have to order, and they always smile. Seriously, the lines move so fast when there are any, and the salads are the best of any "create your own" that I've had at a spot like this in Midtown. Down one star b/c I wish they had better cookies/sweets/dessert stuff. Their cookies are pretty sub-par.

This place is fantastic as a once in a while treat. their sandwiches are very creative, but massive and pack on the toppings. I sometimes work on weekends and I love getting their breakfast wraps. Most of these contain egg-whites and use wholewheat tortillas, so they provide an excellent punch after my weekend long runs of 8+ miles. These are usually very flavorful. Today I got the veggie wrap, which I wasn't expecting much from, but I was pleasantly surprised. It contains Broccoli, so I was expecting it to be very crunch, but it was actually very good in terms of consistency. They have some pretty outrageous sandwiches. I hear legends about the Thanksgiving sandwich (everything you can imagine from Thanksgiving on a bun -or biscuit?), but I have never been brave enough to try it. I have had their pastrami, roast beef, and tuna melts, all of which have been excellent. Their steam table option is also fantastic. I have tried their meatloaf, which I loved, and the sides were pretty good. I would not recommend eating here regularly, especially if you work in one of the office towers in the area and sit on your ass all day - (even if you go to the gym during your lunch break!!!) - because this place will pack on the pounds FAST! But if you split your sandwich with a coworker or have this once in a while, it is really one of the most savoriest experiences.

Quick, tasty, fresh, and well priced. What else could you ask for in midtown? Awesome place, great food. Try the Pastrami sandwich, it's ridiculously good

Came here for a quick salad at lunch. The sign advertised a fixed price salad with one main topping and four other toppings. Not only did they charge me extra for the "premium" toppings that were not indicated, they charged an extra dollar to chop the salad!

My favorite sandwich is the Emily Waits, named after a Real Person important to the owner. :-) Grilled honey maple turkey with melted muenster cheese, spinach tomato and tasty apple butter sauce. I have mine on toasted multi-grain bread with horseradish and pico de gallo. Mouth watering? go and get yours customized at any of the Toasties in town-one - soon coming up in the theatre district! They're also on 51st by St. Patrick's Cathedral NYC.

It was a little hard for me to find Toasties considering the address lists its location on Lexington Ave but the entrance is really on 52nd. I ordered the smoked deluxe (chicken / pastrami / lettuce / tomatoes / mozzeralla) on a tomato wrap and it was delish - the wait was pretty short too. Just enough time for me to enjoy a sit down lunch with a friend and luckily they have a few tables on the premises outside. The menu was definitely interesting - I'd come back for another quick lunch visit.

This is what you start thinking about at your desk around 11:15 a well crafted big portion sandwich. That roast beef with the tabasco and sweet peppers was my favorite, I think it was called Sgt Pepper. The hot plates are real good too.

  • Michael H.

Food is fine but they are slow. The same order across the street at Oxford takes 1/3 the time and is better. I really go there when I am too lazy to cross 52nd street :-)

Pretty decent for breakfast. Eggs and bacon on a roll keep me going in the morning. Fairly priced and the ingredients taste very fresh. HOWEVER, the Thanksgiving sandwich really put me off. It's a sandwich made from freshly carved whole turkey breast, cranberry sauce (from a can, it seems), stuffing, and gravy. First, and most offensively, there were green bell peppers in the stuffing. What the eff?! I like green peppers - in fajitas and chili - but not stuffing. I was expecting more Thanksgiving in New England as opposed to New Mexico. Second, the gravy made the bread interior way too soggy. I ended up taking the sandwich apart and eating the turkey, cranberry sauce, and non-bell pepper portions of the stuffing with a fork. The biggest insult about this was that I paid over $8 for it.

The lady at the cashiers stuffed my credit card print out with the tip and signature blank next to the cash register. BEWARE of that because they can write in a large tip and forge your signature. I told her to give it to me to sign and fill out.

My first time at this location. I placed 3 orders and waited for my order. In about 5 min I was called when 1 sandwich was ready and she was ready to bag it but I informed her that there should be 2 more sandwiches. After additional 10 min and asking a couple of times during that period where was the rest of my order., I was called to pick up my order.. 1- 15 min to pick up is not acceptable 2- realized that they raised their prices on the sandwiches by $1 but only posted in the store not online or on their printed menue in the store. 3- The person I got one of the sandwiches for ended up throwing most of it away- he said the sandwich was tasteless?! 4- the set up in the store is not very efficient. If I needed a salad , a regular sandwich and a hot sandwiche - it seems like I had to wait in three lines to put my orders in. So, being pricy, time consuming, perhaps not that tasty- I think I pass on this place for now and get my orders somewhere else.

i wish i could put less than one star. the problem isn't the food - it's tasty, although expensive - it's the service. SO RUDE. i'm utterly disgusted by them. the only reason i would go back here is because i bought a groupon and don't want to waste my money.

I went to this Toasties, which is on E 52nd St, and not on Lex (it's between Lex & 3rd Ave), for a quick Sat morning sammie. I ordered (see picture): Union Square on Rye ($8.25) - grilled crack pepper turkey, Monterey jack pepper cheese, romaine lettuce, & Dijon mustard The bread wasn't toasted, and it did take a big long for my sandwich to be prepared even though barely anyone else was there. The sandwich itself was good. This particular Toasties does not carry Pizza like the one near 5th Ave on E 48th St.

Ohh Toasties, How I love thee :) I love this place, so much so that they know my b'fast order when I walk through the door. I eat here approximately 3 times a week. I get the b'fast platter, with 2 eggs, turkey and marble rye toast and for 4 bucks you really cant go wrong. If you order online the order is ready by the time you walk over and you dont have to wait in line I dont get lunch here as often as b'fast but I have tried a couple things that I definitely enjoy. The meatloaf is out of this world, as well as the pastrami. The chicken wraps are pretty good and they toss a nice salad for a reasonable price. Much better than the overtated Chopp's next door. My fav lunch is the All American cold sub, its one of the only hoagies I've had in the area that satisfy when I'm craving for it. All in all the customer service is great and it can really become a staple go to when you need a tasty, quick lunch. I definitely recommend

I'm generally a pretty good Toasties fan (especially of the Third Ave/mid50s location), but I'm sad to say this one just doesn't live up to the others. It does the job - has sandwiches, make your own salads, and juices galore plus baked goodies, but it doesn't seem to have the same choices as the other locations (no pre-designed salads, didn't see the rotisserie/carving station, hot foods). The staff are ok, but definitely don't seem to care much about the customer, and there is little for seating (just a short bar with stools). I'll have to say that I did enjoy having pan-roasted brussel sprouts as a salad option, however.

Mediocre food and rude cashiers. Combine that with a $5 credit card minimum, I'm taking my business elsewhere.

A lot of healthful and great looking breakfast and lunch items. I sat outside and had one of their egg white breakfast wraps... highly recommended. It was also priced very reasonably.

Healthy breakfast wrap is fantastic.....great price for what you get. Egg white, turkey, avocado with Swiss in a wrap. I add hot sauce....great way to start the morning

I typically get my breakfast here due to the close proximity to my job. I have also had the soups here which are decent. Overall, the food is decent-they are rather pricey (I guess everything in Midtown is) also they have a $5 minimum for credit and debit cards (annoying to say the least) the workers are usually friendly, but the long wait time is annoying sometimes.

I've ordered from this Toasties quite a few times in the past. I like their mozzarella, tomato and basil sandwiches. Had one today. Then I wanted to wash it down with my bottled Starbucks Frapp, also ordered from Toasties. Well... As I took it outta the bag, I couldn't help but notice these brown spots on the lid. Upon closer inspection, evidence of bugs (see pix). I'm so grossed out right now... No words.

The sandwiches are pretty good here, but they're just "pretty good." I don't think that my sandwich made up for the price I paid for it. I think you can find better quality sandwiches are more boutique delis however.

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM HERE!! My office used to order from here every monday until now. The food is decent and they usually deliver quickly so this is why but considering there are a million other places in midtown to order from, I will be from now on. I have had it with their delivery scam, on two previous occasions the delivery person "did not have any change", not even a couple of dollars. Conveniently for them this has been in situations where they would get a huge tip or you wouldn't give them enough, like $32 and you hand then $40 and ask for $4 back. Now what delivery person does not carry change.???? Today, we ordered online because their menu advertises 10% off if you order from their website and not seamless. Well that is a HUGE scam. The email receipt confirmation stated we owed $39 which autopopluated a $5 tip. When the delivery man arrived he stated we owed $52. When we showed him the receipt it just shrugged. When we called the store, the lady said well the prices are different on the menu then they actually are and acted that we should know this for some reason. So there was no 10%, the menu prices are wrong, the confirmation email apparently doesn't mean anything and I am supposed to tip on top of this nonsense????? So because we were starving and super busy and I didnt have time to reorder lunch we paid the difference but this will be the absolutely LAST time I order a thing from Toasties. I work in a large building and I have told every department in my building about this scam. Save yourself the hassle and order from somewhere else.

Standard lunch spot in midtown that has your basic salad station, hot station and sandwich station. Wait times are a bit longer than other similar spots in the area, but otherwise this is a fine.

I wish I could rate them two and a half stars. Toasties has several locations throughout NYC and when this location wasn't here, I used to walk over to 54th and 3rd Avenue for my sandwich fix. Compared to your typical midtown deli they make some really great sandwiches. They're usually neatly made with care and full with meats and toppings and I feel like you really get what you pay for here. Their total menu usually consists of salad, soups, cold/hot sandwiches/wraps/heroes, and a carving station. I'd rate other toasties locations higher, but this location in particular can be a total disaster during high tide if you don't know the process on how to order and pay. The layout of this place doesn't make a lot of sense, the lines are a sloppy mess, and their cash register is probably in the worst possible place. Whoever planned this layout made some really poor decisions as it's the least effective way of getting people in and out. Maybe most irritating are the cash register folks who are screaming "next!" when the person who just paid has barely been handed back their credit card/change/receipt and are still collecting their belongings. (In fairness, if you go during off-hours, they are a lot calmer and rational.) They think they are making the line move faster but in reality they are just adding to the already crazy craziness in this establishment. I rounded up to three stars because the guys at the carving station used to see me almost every day and they knew my usual order. It got to the point where if I wanted something different than my usual, I felt like I was throwing a wrench in their process. Considering the circumstances, those dudes are super friendly and still find a way to maintain their efficiency despite their long lines.

This is a review for a seamless lunch order for Toasties. I got the salmon platter as it was the second most highly rated on seamless after Toasties' chicken platter. First off, the salmon had so many different seasonings that upon first glance it looks like some sort of knish or some other breaded meat. The salmon was just OK. You get to choose 2 different sides along with the platter so I chose steamed veggies and the "vegetable of the day". The veggie of the day turned out to be overly creamy and soggy creamed spinach. Ew. If you're going to advertise vegetable of the day, don't give me yesterday's spinach dumped in globs of cream and cheese and call it your "vegetable of the day." I have not physically been to this Toasties nor have I tried their sandwiches which I hear are good, so it's be unfair to give a one star just based on this platter. Although I'm skeptical of ordering again from here.

Come here mostly for a kale salad. Cheaper than chopt and the staff is friendly. Best to go around 12 or 2 to beat the lunch rush. Love the points card they have that earns you a free salad and or a sandwich once you get 10 stamps.

On a rainy weekday afternoon, I was on my way to lunch to grab a salad but somehow made a sudden turn and landed myself in Toasties. I've heard good things about Toasties and I was glad that when I went, there were no lines. I ordered a Classic Grilled Chicken Wrap, there were so many other options but I guess I'll just have to return to satisfy my curiosity. The wrap was hot and toasty when I took a bite from it back in my office. The tiny wrap might look like it won't fill you, but it sure does. The wrap consisted of chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers and mozzarella cheese. I realized there were no sauce or condiments added to my wrap, it definitely wasn't needed since the chicken and onions were sauteed and seasoned perfectly. A great spot for lunch indeed.
