Writing this "review" based on nothing about the restaurant itself - rather, the fact that FOR THE SECOND TIME in two weeks their delivery guy has TRAPPED MY BIKE underneath his at the bike racks outside of Tony's. Last night was the second time - SECOND TIME, I REPEAT - I have come home from work only to find my bike trapped underneath their delivery guy's bike chain because he's apparently TOO LAZY to find an appropriate place to lock up his bike and instead leans it on MINE because it is a small bike and he's got the mistaken impression (or maybe just doesn't care) that I am able to get my bike out from undeneath his - I am NOT - and so locks up his bike OVER MINE with his HEAVY ASS BIKE CHAIN draped over my TINY BIKE MADE FOR MY TINY 120lb BODY WHICH DOES NOT HAVE THE BRUTE STRENGTH TO LIFT THE CHAIN TO GET MY BIKE OUT TRAPPING MY BIKE, DELAYING MY ABILITY TO GET MY BIKE AND GO HOME AFTER WORK, AND I HAVE TO WALK IN THERE AND ARGUE WITH THESE PEOPLE TO TELL THEIR DELIVERY GUY NOT TO DO THAT ANYMORE AND GET IGNORED AND YELLED AT EACH TIME. Cyclists - DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS RESTAURANT. They hate you and have NO RESPECT for you or your property. I was told each time (via shouting, in front of their CUSTOMERS, no less) that this isn't their problem and that they can't tell their delivery guy what to do. I told them THE GUY THAT IS DOING THIS IS THEIR EMPLOYEE AND YES IT IS THEIR PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE TO TELL HIM WHAT TO DO. Also, NO, the bike racks are NOT YOUR PROPERTY. THEY ARE CITY PROPERTY. My bike is MY PROPERTY. You have absolutely NO RIGHT to disrespect MY PROPERTY. I do NOT disrespect your property, I do NOT keep you from operating your restaurant, I am NOT asking anything out of the ordinary, it is your DUTY as business owners and human beings to rectify this situation immediately, NOT SHOUT at me in front of your customers and tell me there's "nothing I can do" and "stop locking up by bike there." ACT like PROFESSIONALS and tell your guy to LOCK UP HIS BIKE PROPERLY from now on. How would you like it if I jammed gum into your locks so you COULDN'T OPEN YOUR RESTAURANT in the morning? Yeah, exactly, didn't fucking think so!!!!!!!

This place is horrible!!!! A couple of months ago this place was a letter "C" and now it is an "A". Congratulations!! but you guys are still horrible.. I really don't know how this establishment is still in business!! Ever since Carmines(The pizza place across the street) closed due to renovations for 2-4 weeks, they probably get all their business but my god...I live this onstrip coming from the train station..I never went to Tony's until Camines renovation.. After 2 weeks of coming to this place after work, I am contemplating getting off the stop before to go to Sal's Pizza since its better than this place. The fat slob who seems to be running the place, tony, is a total douche bag yelling at his employees who whatever he needed, like he was their master.. . I will never come back to this place. Such an unprofessional business. Other than that, pizza tastes like pure cardboard. I rather get than 1.00 pizza from the city than this place. CAN"T WAIT FOR CARMINES TO OPEN AGAIN!!

Consistent slice. Avg rating 7. Not burnt/to crispy. Lil to much crust in the top, would be better with less crust at the top. Faster cheese falloff "cheese cliff"

I always consider myself a Carmine's girl rather than a Tony's girl. HOWEVER- The meatball parm heroes are THE BEST around. Perfect, huge, flavorful, juicy meatballs on the most amazing crispy outside/soft inside roll. A perfect example of how simple done right is just divine. The pizza is perfectly ok, maybe a little inconsistent in quality, and it's hard not to compare it to it's neighbor Carmine's. Atmosphere is dingy but the counter guys are really nice. And seriously guys, meatball parm hero. Do yourself a favor.

Better than Carmine's definitely. Not cheap but better tasting at least. Very unhealthy though, but what can you do?

While the champion of New York pizza is indisputably New Park Pizza (i dare you not to fall in love), Tony's has a great plain pie. You know what else they have that are craaazy delicious? Those stuffed mushrooms. They are so serious and just covered in red sauce. Dip that crust right in there. You'll like it. I'm ordering that right now. boom.

  • Joey V.

Good meatball parm hero priced fairly at $6.50 after tax

I get delivery from Tony's all the time. I never get the pizza, but I love the Shrimp parm dish, and also the Penne ala Vodka is fantastic!!! They sell the Vodka sauce separately if you feel like making it at home. Another great dish is their Ceasars Salad with Chicken. The Grilled chicken layered on top is delicious and plentiful. Also check out their Hot Antipasto appetizer, its got a little of everything. If you need some good italian dishes for delivery go for Tony's Pizza. You'll be pleasantly surprised and very stuffed.

Tony's pizza is better than Carmine's. There. I said it. Their meatball is delicious and you have to try their vodka sauce. Prices are good and delivery quality and speed is fantastic. The only time I would go across the street is if I'm craving a slice and want some options...but what's that? Tony's is stepping up their slice game. Nice. Decor? What decor? Staff? Gruff and barely accommodating. Food? Delicious.

(Said in Brooklyn accent) Yo Tony! I love your pizza...plain to be specific. You like to tawk loud and sometimes yell at patrons askin' who's next but you know what? You never miss anybody. I like that. One time I short changed you $1 and you called me out on it. Thanks for embarrassin' me in front of my friend but I respect you for doin' it. I like that you stay open longer than Carmine's and just to boost your ego a little bit, your plain is WAY betta than Carmine's plain. Everybody loves a plain slice, am I right or am I right? I'll see you around, Tony. ***$10 CC Minimum***

This place should not deliver in Williamsburg. If you live in the area, I would not rely on this place. It had been over an hour when I called about my very simple owner. Guy said, "It's on the way." Classic. 20 minutes later...nothing. I cancelled the order and the guy at Tony's complains to me, "Do you know how far you live?" I would never trust this place to deliver food on time. Do you really want to wait around for over an hour and then not eat anything at all??? Try some of the other better pizza places in the neighborhood.

I like dem bote! Carmines annnd Tonys- Tony's does suffer from a common ailment - IS (inconsistent slice), but lately hes been on point. Actually went there instead of old reliable Carmine across the way, whom, oddly enough, has fell victim to the pizza version of the CLAP -(no foldability, ie, collapsing when folded). a few more good slices and this is an easy upgrade to 4 stars

I ordered delivery here a little while ago and they messed up my order. Usually not a big deal but when I called back, the guy accosted me and told me that I messed up the order and he wouldn't fix it without charging me. I said I needed a minute and I'd call back and when I did, he just straight hung up on me. No interest in ordering from here again. Go somewhere else nearby, there are plenty of comparable pizza places.

Had the Grandma and Upside down slices at Tony's for first time today and I have to say it...I'm in love! That was hands down the tasiest pizza sauce I've ever tasted. Full of basil and oregano hints. I make a point of trying pizza wherever I travel. I've been to all the famous one's u read about from Boston to San Diego. I'm a graduate of the Culinary Inst of America and an Italian food addict. I was actually in the neighborhood to try the Semolina bread from Napoli's Bakery on Metropolitan and happened upon Tony's while walking. I will be making special trips in from Long Island again, but this time for Tony's Pizza!

"Why the hell would we have cities anyway?" I've heard someone say this. Granted, they may not have been too into electricity, having a job or doing much beyond drinking Four Loko on a curb, but there are others who see the city as a monster. They think they should be isolated in the woods, live in the suburbs or remain in the same small town 'til the next train comes. For me... I've had my day with nature. It's the city that keeps me calm. (However, give me a zero blanket, an MRE, and a pair of Sorrell's, and I'll hit the John Muir trail with you). It's the city that remains there for me though. It keeps me calm. It takes all my neuroses and turns them on their ear with the noises of safety and people. All second only to the gal that gets this message on cities. Brooklyn may be the bubbly little sister to Manhattan but it's a city/state in of itself. When it comes to needs, it's the mighty cities that answer with "just around the corner" that rise to the top. Fun fact: Brooklyn has pizza. And their every day slices are better than most places. Pair a marinara slice with an Italian red ice, a red head and a napkin... and you're set for under $6. If there's ever an example of why we come together, topple sod to live on top of one another, it's a slice at Tony's at two in the afternoon.

  • Diana M.

I grew up on this stuff so I'm a little biased when I say it's the best pizza in the city. I miss this stuff every time I moved away. Everything is perfect, it used to be a locals joint, but alas...

  • Baby P.

This pizza is way under-rated. Everyone goes to Carmine's, which is right across the street, but the dough at Tony's is the real deal. It's a must try for classic NY pizza at a good price. I didn't give 5 stars because their toppings could definitely use some work, and the variety isn't that good -- there's usually only a couple types of pie.

    (4)
  • Sean D.

Probably the worst experience I've ever had when ordering pizza. Two and a half hours to deliver a single pizza at a non peak time. The pizza was half cold and was covered in a film of congealed grease. The only thing worse than the driver who wouldn't pick up his phone to tell the main guy where he was in his his route was the main guy himself, whose apathy bordered upon the insane. Legitimately thought I was part of a prank because of how awful everything was. Tony's: Not even once.

What I really like from Tony's that I just ordered the other day and it lasted me forever was the deep dish pizza with pepperoni and mushroom. Delicious spices, over the top decadence. Perfect for one of my more hungover tired moments. Thanks folks!

First I just want to start by saying that the food here is delish. There's no doubt about that. If if wasn't for that they would've gotten one star for sure. With that said , the service sucks. After waiting for 40 mins , I called and the guy on the phone gave me the impression they forgot I even ordered. Then he said he would send it out in a few minutes as if he was doing me a favor. I didn't even get pizza which takes a while to make, My friends and I got sandwiches , wraps and soup BECAUSE we were starving and we wanted fast service. Yeah well as far as service goes , this place gives a GIANT middle finger to its customers.

I was at a friend's house last night and we ordered delivery from here. Although there were a few blips, overall the food was super good & their menu is quite extensive. Our food came in a reasonable amount of time, although they forgot one item which it took them forever to bring back. Luckily that was dessert so we didn't mind waiting for it. So, besides the delivery issue everything else was great! We ordered a Napolitan pizza with mushrooms and olives, some sauteed broccoli rabe, stuffed mushrooms, and zapolis. All of our items were delicious except the stuffed mushrooms. The stuffing was a soggy mess and the mushrooms were too big to eat in one bite, but too tough to cut through with a fork. Avoid this item! The pizza was delicious - great sauce, fresh cheese & toppings, soft yummy crust. Need I say more? The zapolis were a kind of fried dough dusted with powdered sugar - tasted kind of like a donut. They're probably incredibly bad for you, but they tasted amazing. Highly recommended!

Honestly, this is my first one star review (I would give it zero) I have ever written. I try to give most establishments the benefit of the doubt, since I know what its like to work in the service industry, but after my experience with Tony's, I can do nothing more than strongly warn people about what a total shame this place is. The food, to be fare, isn't bad, but I've suffered through a lot less for a lot better. The complaint is basic. The food was over a half hour late. The reaction from Steve (apparently the owner/manager or something) was absolutely ridiculous. After I called a second time to see where my food was, not only did he offer no solution to the situation, but actually was arrogant enough to suggest that it was my fault to believe that they would hold to the estimated time Seamless web had quoted. He then promptly hung up on me when I asked what he was going to do to make it better. Steve, if you are reading this, know that if in the future, it pays to try and make your customers happy, not to try and preserve your false macho ego...oh and your sauce is way to salty....

Pretty good pizza. I rate it between dominos and papa johns.

I used to live a couple blocks away from this place. I swear I put on an extra five pounds due to the proximity/hunger factor and how satisfying Tony's fare really is. I was recently visiting Brooklyn and had to stop by to get a slice (on top of the torta I just ate for lunch). In response to most of the complaints: You folks are so spoiled with quality pies you just don't know what you've got until you can't get it no more! I eat Tony's slices in my dreams now that I'm nearly 3,000 miles away in Los Angeles and can't savor the crispy crust, flavorful sauce, fresh cheese and toppings. Yes, I prefer it over Carmine's and love the true Brooklyn-style service. It's not much on ambience (unless, like me, you dig a no frills, to the point joint) but that's not what you go there for, is it? Do they deliver to Southern California yet?

    (5)
  • Rae C.

Tony's is better than Carmine's. Better flavor. Great for a slice on the go. Eat it!

  • Sydney K.

We've ordered from everywhere in the area, but when we want a classic New York pie, Tony's is the way to go. Their delivery is fast, the guys are always friendly when I answer the door, and they never screw up my orders - what more can you ask for from a pizza place? The crust is crispy, the sauce is fresh, and there is just the right amount of cheese. We usually just get regular, but sometimes we'll go all out for the pizza with all kinds of olives on it...I forget what it's called, but it's delicious, and even though on the menu it states it's a square pie, you can request a thin crust, round pie and they will do it for you, no problem. If you want a little something extra, definitely get the garlic knots with marinara sauce - trust me!

  • Brooklyn V.

Hey! Come on?! Who can NOT think Tony's is the best!? I don't know about you, but I refuse to go anywhere else for my Pizza/Italian Hero needs. It's the only place I've seen that has yet to be utterly INFESTED with hipsters, especially compared to that pesky Carmines across the street. I'm watching you Carmine, and I don't like you... Live on Tony's Pizzeria, live on.

This is the second thing I miss about my old hood. A friend got me onto the Sicilian slices and they remain to be the best I've ever had. That's it.

    (4)
  • Bill M.

I used to go to Carmines but Tony's has better crust. Much better crust. In fact, I didn't know how much I liked crust until I started going to Tony's (10 years ago). I used to throw the crusts away when I was kid but now I eat it all. It's best to go on a day when it's not too busy and they're not rushing the pies out (this is true of any pizza place). The crust is crisp, not crunchy, and oddly light. Especially the sicilian. It's like savory pastry. Make them leave your slice in for just a bit longer, especially on the Uncle Phil slices. You'll really get what I'm saying. Also, It's gruff there. I understand but you're not there to hang out. You're there to get the neighborhood's best pizza.

  • Leslie R.

This place is so frustrating! The food is about a 3.5, and I order here a lot because it's the only Italian that has online ordering in my neighborhood. They always take a while to get here, which I can handle, but what's frustrating is that they never ring my buzzer. It has my name and apt. # on it, so I don't understand the confusion. Instead, the delivery guy just calls and says he's downstairs. When I tell him which buzzer to ring, he just acts like he doesn't know what I'm saying. I'd think it's a language barrier, but a lot of delivery people don't speak a lot of English, and yet this never happens with anyone else. So I end up having to walk downstairs and get it at the front door. This time was the last straw... I didn't have my ringer on, so instead of trying to buzz the door when I didn't answer my phone, they just left. Eventually I noticed the call and they came back, but they still didn't ring my buzzer. Oh, and they forgot my coke that I paid for. I don't know why they bother to do delivery when they are so inept at it. If you're going to eat here, eat at the restaurant.

I was deciding between Carmine's and this, and for some reason I chose Tony's. I don't really know why. I'll make it across the street eventually! I got a sicilian slice and a plain slice ($2.25 each) to go. Due to the ridiculously high winds that we've been having lately, trekking my pizza back to my apartment was a bit of hassle, but it survived! Neither slices are the best I've ever had or anything like that, but they were definitely tasty and I will be sure to return in the near future, probably for two sicilian slices instead of one of each. I definitely liked that one a bit more.

  • Roland A.

Well Tony's and I go way back (7 years and counting now). It's the standard New York pie you expect if you grew up in any of the Boros. It's not amazing but it's good, that's it, nothing more and nothing less. It's what you crave when you leave NYC for a long time. Consider it the Budweiser of pizza. Now.......there is one no-longer-so-secret pie that I guarantee 100% and have hooked many on: Chicken & Bacon w/Ranch Dressing. Get a slice and it'll be on your comfort food list for years to come.

    (4)
  • Fred J.

The best plain slice in Brooklyn!!! Hands down no question. I go here once a week and maybe once i have had a slice that was not that amazing. but if you get a hot fresh one it is cooked to perfection. Crispy and delicious. Their sicilian and grandma and grandpa slices are great too. I have no idea why Carmine's across the street is so popular. In a blind taste test of plain slices with me and a few friends who have not been to either before. Everyone picked tony's. Many said the Carmines cheese was weird. which it is!! Anyway I used to come here all the time when I lived in L.E.S. and now i live down the street and go all the time.

    (5)
  • Ben E.

There's one thing you never forget if you've ever lived in NYC, and that's walking down the street with a paper bag filled with a couple of slices...feeling the heat from inside the bag, and smelling the scent of freshly baked pizza crust wafting up towards you as you rush home to devour your purchase. That's my last memory of Tony's, and I can still recall it intensely. This is very good pizza. I think you have to check it out, as well as Carmine's (which is right across the street) to decide which you prefer. I'm not taking sides. When I'm around here, I'll go with whatever I haven't had most recently, and I'm always very satisfied. Tony's is definitely much more of a corner pizza joint than Carmine's and not at all a restaurant, but if you want to get your slices to stay, there's some space to hang out and eat.

    (4)
  • Joseph A.

Ok I figured out a trick with Tony's. Get a slice of sicilian , only reasonably fresh out of the oven. It's a generous size for $2.25, it's tasty, and def gives you your carb fix.

    (3)
  • Colby H.

Best pizza in this part of the neighborhood. I've been across the street and down it, at the BQE. This remains the absolute best. Suggestion: order the Tony's Special with pepperoni, sausage, broccoli rabe and onions. Mindbending.

I've been getting my "quick Italian fix" from Tony's for the last 7 years (mainly 'cause of the convenience of the location), and their "Grandma Pizza" has never failed me. "Grandma" has a thin yet chewy crust, sweetly semi-caramelized onion, basil, flavorful tomato sauce, dried oregano and a touch of melted mozzarella cheese.... Mmmm....good, good, good! I have tasted many, many slices at many, many places, but for some reason, this sweet grandma can always make me happy and de-bitches me every time (FYI, the pie maker is no grandma: He's a big muscled dude). I sometimes order their pasta dishes; they are just OK (as is most of their other stuff). The meatballs are humongous. I could stay alive for 3 days just nibbling on one. Btw, what's up with the new guy behind the counter? What's his beef? Did that humongous meatball get stuck in his head or something? He always has this pissed-off-constipated look on his face. I stay away from Tony's whenever I spot him there. My Yummy Judgment: 4 stars for my dear "Grandma" pie 2 stars for the rest Minus 1 star and 2 Exlax tablets for the dude behind the counter

The pizza is delish--no debate. But if you get it delivered, prepare to wait.... and wait... and wait. The last time we tried to get delivery from Tony's was 2 years ago. I say "tried" because we called, placed the order, and waited... and waited... and waited. We were told 45 minutes--it actually took one hour and 45 minutes. We were both heading to work at that point so the pizza went straight into the fridge and we both ran off to work hungry. Fast forward to tonight. We ordered at 7:10 and were told 45 minutes for the pizza. Two hours later, our Grandpa finally showed up--piping hot and unbelievably good (although I got so hungry waiting I was mere minutes away from eating my own hand). Tony's has fantastic pizza--perfect thin crust that holds a hefty pile of toppings. It's consistently very, very good but it's also consistently very, very slow so plan ahead. If you're super hungry and you're thinking of ordering a pie, make sure you've something in your fridge to hold you over while you wait... and wait... and wait. Or go pick it up yourself. But if you're fridge is bare and you dare to order delivery, remember you've been warned. If you don't pass out with hunger waiting, know that, eventually, you will be rewarded.

I almost never write reviews...no, scratch that. I never write reviews. But the poor quality of service at Tony's has inspired me to write my first one. Last week I ordered a plain cheese pizza from Tony's: the yardstick by which any good pizza place is measured. When the delivery guy showed up, the box was completely smashed, the cheese was either stuck to the top of the box or oozing off the pie and the bottom of the pizza was completely burned. Even the garlic knots were burned. Can anyone recommend a good pizza place in williamsburg/greenpoint? So far I've had no luck.

4 stars for pizza, 3 stars for the rest since i live so close this is def my go to pizza place. for other interests such as mozzarella sticks or hot wings i'll stick to carmine's or grandma rose's. honestly, i think the pizza is better than carmine's though, a better sauce for sure. i do need to try more, and that might happen tonight

Just finished my take-out meal from here, and I lay here on my couch about to projectile vomit. Not because the food was terrible, but because it was terribly delicious. I didn't even finish my pasta dish, and I am foaming at the mouth with spicy red sauce. Boyfriend and I split garlic knots, he chose the spinach and ricotta lasagna, while I opted for the pasta with ricotta and tomato sauce. I was craving something spicy, so in the comment box on seamless web dot com (yeah, you can place your order for Tony's via seamless either for delivery or for pick up) I asked for fra diavlo sauce or any spicy red sauce. I figured it wouldn't happen, but I was pleasantly surprised at the fantastic spicy red sauce that was gratuitously applied to my spaghetti. The creamy ricotta mingled perfectly with the spice, offering a cool compliment.. (Tonys, you should probably make this item a permanent addition to your menu). Boyfriends giant piece of lasagna was delicious. Garlicy whole leaf spinach laced between layers of ricotta and mozzarella...heavenly. The garlic knots were perfect as well, and wonderful vessels for devouring all extra sauce (although our order did also come with two large TOASTED loaves. Yeah, toasted...way to go Tonys!) I can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu, including the pizza. Thanks for coming through with a tasty Italian feast at 10:45 pm to fulfill our cravings. Btw, their pizza boxes are adorable.

2 separate occasions ordered delivery, once a Margherita + dessert, once a white pizza w/bacon + dessert :) I prefer a bit crispier crust, tho it's thick enough to fold in 1/2 & support toppings - super important! Overall quality, topping amount, etc is 5-star!

Grease city. It's fast, cheap and easy, but it'll likely give you a stomach ache. Or acne. Or a giant gut. Or a pet Orc. You don't want any of them. Unless you play tons of Dungeons and Dragons. Plenty of better pizza around.

  • Eva A.

Best slice around, hands down. My boyfriend and I go here at least once a week and often order the margarita pie when we're entertaining - friends all agree that this is a true New York slice. Their baked ziti is also top-notch: rich, gooey, and delicious. The service is a bit intimidating (you should know what you want when you step up to the counter), but we rather enjoy the atmosphere. We often joke that their slogan should be "Welcome to Tony's. What the f*%& do you want?" Tony's for life!

  • Grover S.

I know I've talked up Carmine's before and I'm not sorry about that. Carmine's is great if you want pizza + nontraditional toppings or some pasta. Tony's though, Tony's is great if your looking for a real NY slice. Their crust has the perfect snap, the sauce isn't too sweet and the ratio to cheese isn't too heavy on either end. I love pizza, all pizza, and Tony's makes pizza the way you want it to taste; unadulterated and with grandma's recipe.

I LOVE TONY'S! best straight up slice of cheese pizza in the neighborhood. best meatballs. meatball sub is the way to go in terms of sandwiches. if it's pizza you want, plain cheese is your boy. sicilian here is very satisfying and the chicken caeser pizza is very good. Phil (owner) is the best. this is definitely my pizza place, i eat here maybe 3 - 5 times a week. DO THIS!

  • Mike S.

Im going to have to go ahead and agree with some of the other reviews on this place as not having good NY pizza. I actually think I may have been in the store when "m f." had his/her terrible delivery experience. The delivery guy didnt speak English which is normally not an issue, but he was unable to call the customer and verify the address. That could get really annoying if I was the one on the other side of the phone. This pizza is just bleh. Their cheese is okay, but nothing special. I also had a slice of chicken and bacon which is usually a perfect combination. I may be from Philly, but I know NYC pizza is supposed to be thin and crisp. This slice was anything but. I can't comment on their other foods as this was my first and last visit to Tony's. My special lady friend and I went there because we wanted to see if the people who claim its much better than Carmine's were right. They weren't. Carmines rules Tony's face. End of story.

I love Tony's Pizza! The fresh mozzarella and basil. Yum. I have a friend who lives in Arizona and that's always our first meal when she comes to visit! Phil, the owner, is awesome! If' I'm drunk in a cab and it's close to closing time, I can put in a call and he'll hold a few slices for me! I don't know if I would order pasta from here, but you can't go wrong with the pizza, regular and grandma slices are really good, chicken parm is awesome, the broccoli rabe is always delicious, the meatballs are good too! Pay no atttention to Carmine's across the street with their fancy new interior. Tony's is where it's at!

People ordered delivery from this place at a party I was at and I couldn't stop eating the cheese pizza. Apparently it was a whole wheat pie too. Gives it such an extra special flavor. Really quite delicious, and the tomato sauce was sweet and flavorful as well. Can't quite speak for the delivery time or cost since I wasn't the one who ordered it, but the pizza was delicious! I am a fan!

The garlic knots - and the marinara - definitely sub par. I'm still in the process of finding "my" pizza place in my neighborhood and I'll still be searching. The Ceasar Salad was definitely missing the dressing! I don't know what that was about.. ----------- EDIT!! **** ---------------- I gave this place another shot tonight, and I think I caught them on a bad night the first time because tonight? YUM!! The chicken roll - delish. The marinara was off the hook. My only gripe was the angel hair, I like my pastas al dente. But other than that.. definitely a better experience, the marinara was so good.

Another classic ny pizza joint which is a nostalgic gem - every time I return to visit ny I have to stop by at least once. It is the classic and still the best. My husband introduced me on one of our first dates - he used to go there as a kid. Another great place to stop in and watch a yankees game or if not, check the scores - the guys at the counter will know. I almost always get 1 plain slice, 1 sicilian, but on the few times that I've mixed it up I have never been disappointed. and Manhattan Special. Ices in the summer. Rice balls. Pasta is great too, but honestly it's hard to go there now, as I am usually on a short home-for-the-holidays visit to ny (recently moved to chicago), and not get the pizza, because it is the best. Yes, Carmine's across the street draws a little more attention, but hit up Tony's instead - you will absolutely not be disappointed.

Meatball Pizza. Big slices of meatball on pizza. Fantastic. Delivery can be a crap shoot, but hey, what do you expect out here.

AVOID THIS PLACE. It's unhygienic: My boyfriend a disgusting hair in his pizza. When he complained, the counter person tried to deflect blame, suggesting it was his hair--even though the strand was BAKED into the slice. Besides being disgusting, that's flat-out insulting. I've always been a big fan of Carmine's across the street; they're friendly, more delicious and--most importantly--clean.

Love getting a straight up cheese slice here. This place is just what you imagine a brooklyn pizza place to be.

Tony's is amazing... the crust is crisp, yet flaky- topped with the ideal amount of delicious sauce and cheese. Melts in your mouth, and never greasy. NY's finest- dare I say the perfect slice? Perhaps. Not only do I eat there every single day when I return visit to Brooklyn, but I've been known to freeze a pie and bring it back to the West coast- just to show some people who think they know pizza a thing or two about REAL pizza. The Sicilians (square slices for those not in the know) are outstanding, too. If you didn't know already, I love this place!

  • Brian D.

Eh. Just eh. And "eh" pizza is fine under most circumstances, don't misunderstand me there. But Tony's suffers for having Carmine's directly across the street. That's the thing - there's nothing really remarkable about the place on way or the other. It's just that I prefer Carmine's and it's not even a close call.

Tony's is great classic NY pizza. Not brick oven, wood oven, roman style, but just good slices and pies that make NY pizza great. I prefer it over most other spots in the neighborhood. Plus they make a great whole wheat pie that I get with fresh mozzarella and basil which is awesome. I'm hungry just thinking of it. The broccoli rabe and pastas are great too.

I had a terrible experience at Tony's yesterday. I used their online ordering system, and my pizza didn't arrive. a half hour after the stated delivery time, I called the store and they told me that they had never received the order, but they would make the pizza and get it to me in 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, no pizza. I called again and was yelled at by the owner for my expectations of a properly working ordering system. He told me that they had no contact with the online system and that he had no way of turning off the website or getting in touch with the company that had taken my credit card number for this order! He then hung up on me. To add insult to injury, the pizza, when it finally arrived another 10 minutes later (for those keeping track, more than 2 hours after my initial order) the cost was higher by 10% than it stated online, and the order was wrong.

best meatball parm hero....period fresh mozzarella slice is addictive pasta carbonara or vodka are both knock outs (literally, you go into blissful food coma after) never any delivery problems, even in snow/rain

the pizza, cal zone, eggplant parmigiana ON SESAME bread are the best. Phil is great and always friendly no matter how busy he is. I really enjoy getting my food from there, its always really good.

Tony's was my neighborhood pizza joint for several years. For some reason I never went across the street to Carmines, I guess I must have liked the pizza, the heroes, and the broccoli rabe so much that I kept coming back. Sometimes Tony seems grumpy, but the food never suffers. I really like their meatball parm heroes, and the fact that they have a good assortment of yummy treats like seafood salad, rice balls, and beef patties. They have some pretty decent sodas as well.

EVERYTHING is good here! i would give it five stars but there have been times when they took more than an hour for delivery! only because they get mad busy here, but its oh so good! the cheese tortelleni with vodka sauce is superb and the best you will ever have!! guaranteed!! the hot or cold sandwiches are excellent! and the pizza is top rated! mmm and mm!!!

dudes, this shits the best. i'm thinking about eating a pepperoni slice now. i can see the grease dripping off the meat and onto the plate. the gooey cheese being torn off the slice as i move it from my jaws to my plate....and a beer...a nice cold beer to wash it down with. i think i'm really hungry right now.

  • melaina b.

the pizza is good. not great but good. last time we tried ordering online and figured when there was a mixup that it was just because maybe they had not worked out all the kinks. tonight i called the order in, and they said 45 minutes. an hour later i call, and they tell me the pizza has not even come out of the oven, who knows when it will even show up, but needless to say, if you are hungry, don't order from here unless you like to wait 1.5-2 hours for a mediocre pie.

Love it, seriously its a lot better then most pizzeria around the hood. Try the chicken roll with extra sauce, its really really tasty! mushroom slices are prefect! Delivery is free, but it takes a while sometimes. They also have really good Italian ice (with limited selection but the price just way lower then the store down the block) but hell, its a great place. The sitting area is a bit small but who cares, we eat the pizza on the go!

i'm only giving this 3 stars because the food wasnt terrible. even though it took 3 HOURS to get here! well, i used grubhub.com to make my order. an hour and 15 later we called tony's and they said they didnt take on line orders and had no record of mine! (the email confirmation stated it'd be here at 8 58...) so we called grubhub. they called us back a few mins. later and said it was on it's way (2 hours had gone by now). so then, 30 mins later i get a phone call and its the delivery guy, who doesnt even speak english.. AT ALL! so he was lost and i couldnt help him. we went outside and LUCKILY there was a spanish-speaking neighbor on his porch, so we gave him the phone and about 20 mins later he was here. LORD. the food really was ok, and probably would have been pretty tasty if it werent almost 3 hours old. especially the salad and fried stuff.. the bread they give with the order was good. thank god you cant really f bread up.

've been living in Williamsburg for around 2 years now and I've finally made my decision as to who has the best pizza, Carmines or Tony's across the street? I have to say I prefer Tony's hands down, Carmines is OK but bland. Tony's pizza just tastes so much better to me, despite they're pain in the ass delivery (yes they take forever) there pizza is the best.

I really really hated Tony's when I first got it; all of my friends sword by it. Each time I ordered it (three times), it came late and cold. Fortunately, I gave it one more chance, and HOLY CRAP. This is the pizza place I'm going to miss the most when I leave New York. Not because it's the best (it's not) or even the best in the neighborhood (though it's definitely in contention), but because they're so fucking amazingly consistent. Make no mistake: this is stoner drunk munchie death-pizza, the kind of pizza that you order when you want something to coat your stomach with grease after an afternoon of drinking and hot-tubbing, or when you've spent the week so stressed at work that all you really want is to sit down and clog your arteries. It's not even really classic New York pizza in that their best slices aren't the cheese slices. No, my favorite from Tony's is getting the Tony's Special (a large four topping) with jalapenos, mushrooms, pepperoni, and fresh garlic. THAT is a disgusting, artery-clogging, you're-not-getting-laid-tonight-unless-you've-been-dating-for-a-year pizza. Heartily recommended.

tonys. wow! a lot of people will look in carmines across the street and want to go there, but tonys is so much better. maybe not as good as vinnies pizzeria, but still awesome pizza. if you are ever at a crossroads between tonys and carmines, go tonys. real nyc pizza.

The more understated of two very good slice joints on the same block, I kinda prefer Tony's these days. Fresh, tasty and quick -- it's everything you should ask of a neighborhood pizza place. The counter guys are great, too -- friendly, eager, and they clearly have a good rapport with regulars. My favorite slice is the olive pie. Piled high with green and black olives, it's so savory and so hearty. Talking with neighborhood people, it seems as though not everyone knows Tony's does specialty slices. But they do, and they're so flavorful.

Love this place! Been a loyal customer for almost a decade now. I know, I know, carmines is across the street right? But what if I told you this pizzeria actually has itialians making the pizza? Which is a rarity now a days when supposed *authentic itialian pizzerias* have Mexicans making the pizza... where's the authenticity in that? (Didn't mean it to be racist, just my opinion) Portion sizes are quite big and everything is tastefull, I do love the caesar chicken slices though! Yummm Overall, if your looking for a itialian pizzeria this is your place to go, look no further! -MS-

I ordered from Tony's on a Tuesday night for delivery figuring "hey it's Tuesday night and it shouldn't take that long"...very wrong. Delivery took 2 hours! It took 2 hours for 4 rice balls and 2 pies (1 pepperoni pie and 1 white pie with broccoli rabe). All we could think of was wow two hours hope this is the best food we ever eat! Wrong! Guess again because the food was absolutely terrible. The rice balls were smashed flat and I am assuming this was an easy way of heating them thoroughly...besides the fact that the looked stepped on I tried them hoping for a miracle that they would taste good. The rice had a lemon flavor which was different but whatever cheese was in there tasted sour and a few days past its due date. The kicker and this was the absolutely best...we got the wrong pie! So we paid extra for a white pie and never got it. Instead they sent one with red sauce...I don't know if they were having an off day or they just don't care. Either way skip this place! Would never order again. There are way too many pizzas places in Brooklyn.

#You have your choice between Tony's or Carmine's across the street. I think if you want a plain cheese slice or #grandma slice go to Tony's. If you want toppings, go across the street. But both are #iconic for Grahamers.

So I had a turkey burger to my surprise it look like the type of ready to eat burger that u just pop in the microwave. But he had the nerve to tell me they make their stuffs fresh ground up...ummm no mf..I waste a whole $7 on a burger I thought was going to be mouth watering so yeah I wont be back...cause its not that Im piss about the $7, im mada the fact that he was promoting this made fresh crap made me come in here for no reason!

Best traditional slice in the neighborhood by far. The Sicilians actually have a different flavor rather that other pizza joints who use the same sauce on every pie. The meatballs are to die for!! Creamy, fresh & the melt in your mouth (pause). The Lasagna I bursting with flavor as well. This is the only place I go to get a regular slice in the neighborhood. The best part about it is that they deliver making this place BAWSE!!

Why do I go here...because it's right down the street and convenient. Sometimes you just need an emergency New York slice. This is where I go. Crunchy crust on their plain pie. They have other stuff there too, but I haven't really tried anything on the menu.

  • Jack K.

It's so hard to find a good ol' pizzeria in this neighborhood. Nowadays, everyone tries to be different by introducing all kinds of weird toppings on a simple slice of pizza. Not here. If that's what you like, you can find that across the street. What gives Tony's Pizza a solid 4 stars? Their mozzarella with basil pizza and cheesy pepperoni pinwheel. Try them as they come right out of the oven and you'll see that they are absolutely dynamite!

Just ordered a large pie and after waiting an eternity. I finally recieve my delivery and open the box and looks like my pizza went through war not to mention the guy who took my order hung up on me mid sentence when I called back to add something to my order NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! I've been ordering from Tony's for years. Their prices are fair and make pretty good pizza. The pizzeria itself is a bit small in size but it got the goods. They also serve Italian ice here. Food - The Sicilian pie and calzones, that's all I gotta say. Drinks - Soda, Snapple, coffee, cappuccino. Service - Small local pizzeria. They serve your food here pretty quick when you eat in. The delivery can be a tad slow at times but it's still worth it.

This review is long over-due. I have been to Tony's on numerous occasions over the past few years. Everyone has an opinion so let me make it simple for anyone reading who has yet to try this place out. Tony's would be most suitable if you can visit the shop and carry out your order. If you go there, they have several specialty Slices on hand at roughly $4 per slice. They are (mainly) Deep Dish Slices with some other hand stretched slices. Generally speaking, with a quick turnover, you are likely to walk in and see a fresh made pie waiting for you to buy a slice from. They make a great chicken roll, many pasta dishes and heros. Your preferences vary so you have to try things that you normally go for. I think they have the Best Garlic Knots in the area. The only issue is it's a Hit or a Miss. Sometimes they overcook them or they might overheat them when you ask for an order which makes them turn crusty & brown Oh well.

Wasted $30+, waited almost 3 hours for delivery time, just to get crappy food. Will not order from here again. 0 out of 5 Stars. Consumer beware. BACK STORY: I ordered via "3rd party Food-delivery website" @ 7:15 pm. Did not receive food until 10 pm. It was not "3rd Party food-delivery website's fault. I called Tony's directly, twice, to check on my order and both times "It was almost ready." I ordered Buffalo chicken pizza and jalapeno poppers. BUFFALO CHICKEN PIZZA: If you LOVE, I mean Effing LOVE, blue cheese, get this pizza. It had more blue cheese than mozzarella, chicken, buffalo sauce and bread combined. I mean drenched in Blue cheese. I literally could not eat it because of this. PLUS: The menu did not mention anything about blue cheese on the pizza. I would've not ordered it if I had known. Just awful. JALAPENO POPPERS: Meh. Standard bulk-buy frozen poppers with cream cheese filling that you find at Costco. I wasn't expecting anything special here... and it wasn't. Probably would've been better if it was hot and on time. Also came with sour cream... I mean, who puts sour cream on poppers? At least give us an option for Ranch or... God forbid... BLUE CHEESE!

Just ordered calzone and strawberry cheesecake for pickup, I asked if I can add mushrooms in the calzone and the sarcastic guy over the phone agreed with a note that its a pizzeria, they have to have mushrooms. I let him know that my boyfriend will pick it up, and he said whoever can pick it up he doesn't care. The time he gave me was 10-15 mins. My boyfriend was there and he told them that he is waiting for the pick up, and waited, and waited. .He got the order after half an hour of waiting, the calzone had not a single mushroom, the cheesecake tastes awful and old, the just added some jelly to make it fresh, but no one there cares about the taste obviously. Never again.
