I've had Dani's pizza plenty of times and it is amazing. I came here the other night to actually sit down and try some of their other food with some friends. Service was a little slow at first (we waited about 5 min to get menus and 10min for waters I had to ask for), but overall the waiter was very nice and attentive afterwards. We got a carafe of Chianti which was lovely. Appetizers ordered were baked clams, caprese salad (tom & mozzarella), and garlic bread. Everything was delicious, the garlic bread was a bit dry but still tasted good. The clams were perfect, not too fishy. And the caprese was my favorite. The bread that comes with everything is soft and I think I ate a whole loaf lol. I take a star off because of the main meal. Two of my friends got the Alfredo, and I got the green pasta with chicken in creamy red sauce. Mine was good, the chicken was delicious and juicy, but the dish could use more sauce. My friends and I didn't like the Alfredo at all. It was very bland and really didn't taste like much. We took it home and fixed it up a little bit later. Overall I'd definitely come back here again and try a different pasta and some other items. Decently priced too!

Their pizza sauce is 100% the reason I go here. Sweet and just perfect. Pizza is always golden brown and never over/undercooked. For take out sometimes the service is a little snippy and give attitude for no reason.

Had me some late night 4am pizza just about closing time - fast , clean yummy service even at the hour! I had a regular slice but for a regular it actually wasn't regular. Regular is what you get down the street ;)

  • Katie L.

Don't know why this is getting such great reviews. The "sweet sauce" people rave about is sickeningly sweet. It tastes like they just poured a jar of Ragu and sugar on it. Not pleasant. They also don't serve pizza in their sitting area, only pastas and other dishes, so don't expect to get any seating. The cheese and crust are decent though.

So my boyfriend had a regular slice and said it was ok nothing special and I had the pesto slice which was alright (totally over rated) however , their baked clams were really good !! I definitely wouldn't drive outta the way to come back to this place again. Also the guy taking orders was a DICK must of been a bad day for him I guess but he made the environment uncomfortable. p.s the place is very small when you first walk in but passed the counter to your left are two doors which lead to a dining area.

My favorite pizza slice in NYC. This is my go to spot for some pizza and for a basic reason: pizza tastes great. I especially like the lunch deal which is pretty popular around the city - 2 slices + a drink for $4.00. Not bad. I feel NYC pizza single slice and be on the more expensive side - $2.50+, but if the taste is on point then it makes it worth it. Never visited the restaurant side and can only attest to the pizza kitchen. But, based on my years of heading to Dani's for pizza at strange hours...one of the hometown favorites. Worth it. Nice beer and wine selection as well. If your really down you'll take my advice and get a "Wet Kiss" pesto slice with extra tomato sauce on top. Be careful and don't wear white while eating this slice. Enjoy.

The Pizza: Dani's Pizza is my favorite pizza joint. Their regular pie has a sweet sauce that keeps you coming back for more. I didn't care for it much at first because I was accustomed to the more traditional pies that you would get from places like Louie and Ernie's on Crosby in the Bronx, but I have been coming back to Dani's every week since my first slice. Sometimes I sit and eat my slices there and sometimes I take them home. Personally, I think the slices taste better once they have cooled down a bit. The Service: There is often a line stretching to the door, but they try to keep it moving. There is a decent beer selection for those who would like to sit down at the counter and have a cold beer with their hot pizza. There are also fountain Coke products and wines. They accept credit cards, but you can get out of their quicker with cash. You will also need to speak up or you will be left behind. This isn't a pizza place for the timid.

First off, to the guy complaining about them telling him no when he ordered pizza at the table, if you had of read the sign posted next to the entrance to the dinning area, it says "no pizza in dinning room". The dinning room is solely for menu items. If you want pizza, you must sit at the bar. Anyways, I've done both. Both their full menu and pizza are amazing. I mostly went for their pizza. It's open late and was walking distance from my house which was great. I found myself waking there late at night quite often. I went 3-4 times a week when living in the Kew Gardens area. It was enough that the remembered me each time I came in. They are very afordable too. They only accept cards on orders over $10. Which is hard to hit if you don't drink beer because that's A LOT of pizza and their slices are huge. They also have a great lunch special where you get two slices and a soda for $5. I'm not a big pizza fan to begin with. But I could live off this pizza. One guy working there taught me how to enjoy the crust on pizza. I used to never eat it, but because of his tip, I now do. I no longer live in New York. But I find myself making time to come here each time I'm in NYC for work.

I am not a fan of sweet sauce. Dani's sauce was overly sweet for my liking but the crust, cheese and preparation were otherwise spot on. The pie looks like what a pie should look like but most other places can't accomplish. The crust is thin but not too crunchy. I really did enjoy the pizza but the sauce was just too much for me.

The very first time I came here, I was suuuuper disappointed to hear that they ran out of the pesto slice that reviewers rave about. I settled for a bite of the regular slice, but it didn't taste special to me. A week ago, I decided to head back for the elusive pesto slice. I made sure to call ahead and arrived around midnight to find a line coming out the door. No big deal. I traveled there to get a slice and I definitely needed to get one this time. I'm giving the experience four starts because the pesto slice is really good. I don't have any local joints that serve pesto slices. I wish the wait could be a little shorter, but it's worth it for me. Also, seating is a bit limited and I noticed people like to take their time with the awesome selection of beers and pizza. I'll be back for the midnight munchies. Pesto slice all the way!

Get the plain with extra sauce and the pesto... NOW

    (5)
  • Stephanie C.

The best pizza I have ever had! Their marinera sauce is sweet and perfect touch to their amazing pizza. Thin slices and perfect crunch to it. I never thought a plain pizza could be so amazing but I like to be fat and get their famous pesto slice. What's even better about this place is their excellent beer selection especially when pumpkin season comes around. At night they might have a long wait but it's so worth it

  • Moe K.

Best pizza in the world. I'm. Not kidding when I say THE WORLD. Rave about this place to everyone I know. Yeah it's a bit of a sweet sauce but that's what's special about this pizza. However I feel like they have been being a lil cheap with the amount of sauce they put on it .. I've been coming here since I was 5. So 22 odd years.

    (5)
  • Bj N.

Wow. Talk about delicious pizza. Comes by the slice ($2, I believe) and whole pizza ($20), plus extra for toppings. Took about twenty minutes for a whole pie

  • Christopher B.

Fantastic bottled beer selection. More variety than you would even hope to see at Austin's Ale House down the street. Don't know who manages the inventory, but somebody has great taste. The pizza ... well, it boils down to the sauce. Some find it too sweet. You either love it or hate it. I happen to be addicted. You'll get a huge, cheesy slice for 2.50 and if you're so inclined, for .50 more you can request "extra sauce" on top. And it's consistently good. I've lived in Kew Gardens for over a decade and the quality has not changed one bit. Expect a perpetual stream of walk-in customers, especially in the evenings. I've never been in the dining room, but the pizza parlor itself is EXTREMELY narrow -- CLAUSTROPHIBALLY so -- with seating confined to a small counter, no more than 5-6 at the most and occupied. FAIR WARNING: If you order more than a single slice, it is considered "to go" *by default*. Frankly, if you want to enjoy a nice, casual pizza pie and/or Italian pasta dinner with friendly service and abundant table seating, I'd recommend Viviano's on Queens Blvd. If you're visiting Dani's, you're going for the outstanding slice. Everything else is superfluous, including the service.

Because I live in the neighborhood, this should be my go-to pizza place. And god knows Kew Gardens is not known for its culinary selection. But I've never warmed up to Dani's. This is partly because their pizza is ridiculously over hyped. It's also because the service SUCKS. The employees are rude and make you wait even when it's not busy. And when it is busy, they take extra time in between helping people and make the wait longer. There are few pizza options in KG and Danis is obviously the only place open late night. The pizza is good, I guess. Very sweet sauce, but it's good and better than your regular random slice. It's not great though (and I feel bad for people who say it's the best in Queens - have you not tried New Park?). If it was great, maybe I would put up with the lackluster and rude service, but it's certainly not worth dealing with the jerks behind the counter and in management. After not frequenting this place for over a year I stopped in the other night and sat down in some empty seats at the counter with a few friends. We were admonished for sitting down and told to get up and go wait on line. The seats were empty and we weren't expecting to be served before the two other people who were waiting by the counter. The employee was so rude about it that we walked out. Dani's is usually busy, but it's no excuse to be complete assholes to the customers. Baker's Dozen across the street usually has a line out the door, but they are nothing but gracious to their customers. Fuck Danis and their terrible service.

  • Amy R.

Oh god, it's so good. Believe all the great things you hear about this pizza. It's amazing in every way. The individual slices are enormous and cheesy and freaking delicious. They make a special sauce for the pizza that's slightly sweet and I've never had anything else like it. At only $2.50 a slice, it's really a bargain. This place is constantly packed and you will definitely have to wait longer here than at most pizza places because of that. But it is beyond worth it. Sacrifice a little bit more of your time for pizza that will blow you away. You'll be addicted from the first slice.

    (5)
  • Sin L.

Yes the pizza sauce is sweet. But idk why people complain. It's a really small joint. Parking blows so if you're gonna grab it to go easier to keep a second person in the car to wait. Priced pretty well. Hours are great (I'm a night owl). My training partner and I come here really often after the gym. The counter staff can he a little rude. But i don't even care about that as long as they're not straight up ignoring me. Good spot!

    (4)
  • Francesca M.

Never had the pesto slice that everyone goes ape-sh*t about BUT I've had their regular slices and they're DAMN good *__*

  • Perilous M.

I live a block away from Dani's. I have to say that although their hours are great and a lot of people seem fond of their pizza, I am not among those folks. Their sauce is much too sweet for me. The food is reasonably priced, but the quality is lacking. Between that and the fact that the counter staff is unbelievably rude and Dani's seems to have no problem with this, I am loath to give my money to a business like that. They like to talk about how they are a neighborhood institution, and so they are, but I wouldn't be very proud of the reputation if I were them. On top of all this, there is often a group of loud, rude guys hanging out in front of the place later at night. Dani's is open very late, and having to walk by the various men loitering in front of the restaurant can be daunting at times, and there is rarely a time when I have had to do so and not received some kind of offensive comment. Why any place of business would be okay with this kind of thing is beyond me, but Dani's seems to have no problem with it. As I do, I will be giving my business to Viviano's nearby instead. Their food is great, their pizza is much, much better than Dani's, and their staff is very friendly. As long as Dani's chooses to ignore the problems they have, I will take my business elsewhere. It's a real shame in such a nice neighborhood to have a old, old business that should really care about their neighbors but simply doesn't.

I am writing after trying Dani's for the 4th time. I am giving two stars solely for the great beer selection they have. I have tried the regular slice, pesto slice, Sicilian slice and a veal parm sub. I keep going back hoping that I'll find the one item that IS good, but alas I've been disappointed every time. I always see a line at this place and I think it's more because there aren't many food places in Kew gardens, instead of this place actually being good. It is conveniently located and open late, which is a plus, but seriously people? The staff is rude, service is very slow, and last night I waited 50 minutes for an order which never came out, despite the front staff asking the kitchen numerous times for my sub. After walking there not to get food, I'm done trying to find a reason to like this place. The pizza sauce is god-awful sweet, the crust is very dry, and the cheese just doesn't taste like top quality. To top it all off, my boyfriend has been very ill from the food the last 2 times he ate here. Sorry Dani's but we are done. If rather heat up a froze slice of Ellio's pizza. How sad is that?

    (2)
  • Ian T.

I personally do not get what people see in the pizza here. I have had it a few times and I find it oily and cheesy and over cooked every time I go ( I like my slices heavier on the tomato sauce). I also eaten here and find the service sub par. The last time went to eat there it took 10 minutes to get a menu and no one even brought us water so we left. I will say the food (as long as it is not the pizza) is pretty good, but I will only order for take out

  • Jennifer P.

The pesto slice is outstanding! If you are looking for something unique and a great crust then this slice is the go to! The plain and pepperoni slice is a must have and they do it right! Every time I go they are sold out on grandmas slice and that is my favorite slice so I have yet to try it! Go here anytime but on a cold late night after drinking this pizza has some type of magical recipe to ensure I'm happy and wake up without a hangover! So freaking good!

I hear great things from Carlos, my friend, but when we called about the pizza eating contest, we did not find the imperative information we needed about the pizza eating contest that we were excited to attend because Carlos said you get a t shirt and get to eat the pizzas. Please call me at 917 498 2525 if you know the details about the contest that I anticipate with great excitement, please. I have not yet tried this food.

Been coming here for a long before everyone knew about this place and overhyped it and slices were a $1 on Wednesdays. First off I can't think of any other pizza shop where I find myself waiting up 15-20 mins for a slice of pizza (without a line) because the careless clowns behind the counter don't know time management skills/people skills and are busy fooling around and drinking coronas (yeah I see you). Thats why they're always backed up and they don't even deliver so there's no excuse for it. These incompetent amigos make the experience of enjoying some pizza not even worth it. Secondly, the prices have been going up like every year and are shockingly going up again while the quality is steadily going down. I get cheese goes up but I have been noticing that they have been being stingy with the cheese for the last few years anyway. The owner uses less cheese on the pizza, raises the price, and makes the dough paper thin. Is that the secret Dani's recipe? They had this place since like 60s their Kew Gardens rent (or they most likely own it) can't be that high to make a slice $3. I can't wait for another late night food spot to open near them and blow them out the water. That's the only thing they're missing is real competition and the owner knows this. Everyone saying Dani's is the best pizza in NY are probably the ones coming in drunk or high with the munchies and have never had solid pizza. The slices are loaded with grape jelly sugar that's why it's "so good." There are much better managed, better quality old school ITALIAN pizza places out there that are worth the price and worth waiting for. If you love terrible customer service and like waiting like a fool for a minimum of 15 mins for a slice of overrated pizza in a disorganized environment with no place to sit. Well... this place is for you. Dani's Albanian burnt sugar pizza is old news unless the owner does his job and manages his clown workers instead of standing in the corner feeling important all day.

Recommended by my barber, their plain slice has this sweet taste in their sauce and their pesto slice was on point as well. One of the better pizza joints around. Def worth checking out

Best Pizza in Queens hands down. Very Ambitious statement to make but I was glad that I was able to make the trip last weekend. Not only is it very affordable and fast but you can't go wrong with their regular and pesto slices! If you have been thinking about it, stop thinking and go!

  • Totoro T.

Not sure how this place get a 4 star review. It says it's good for kids. Not so! They don't even have highchairs. The door to the dining area has a double swing door with steps. Not baby friendly at all. There is barely any space for strollers. The waitress is far from friendly! The pizza was just ok. My friend ordered a clam dish that's just so-so. I would not eat there again.

  • Leeor A.

Although the pizza is in fact delicious, the service is horrible even for NYC!!! More specifically, one of the guys working behind the counter so called "Zero," lacks the minimal decency of human interaction, even though he walks around as if he owns the joint. I am writing this after boycotting this pizza place for over two years because of another employee who was just nasty, and thinking of doing it again. The owner seems to make appearances pretty frequently and this message is directed to him.

  • Nelly P.

Updated my review since last time I think I gave them a 2 star. Decided why not give it a try once again and was not disappointed like the first time. Pizza was pretty delicious and not so greasy.

  • Bledi L.

Best pizza hands down!!! Been coming back to this joint for more than 8 years now, and every time my taste buds thank me! Best of all is the pesto slice with extra marinara sauce! The rest of the food is delicious too. Say, for example their Caesar salad, or penne alla vodka or even better, fettuccine Alfredo with added capers. Just awesome!

  • Ima B.

3 times i tried to pop in before getting on the LIRR, 3 times they had none and I was told 10 minute wait. The counter guy makes you pay first to rope you in to waiting. I pay and realize i will have to wait, then i get an argument to get my money back so i can catch my train, hungry, with no pizza.

    (1)
  • Justin S.

Delicious. Cheese and crust are standard. It is all about the sauce, which is sweet excellence. Get some extra on the slice and/or some extra on the side. #Delicious

  • Reks L.

Have to give another review.. although the pizza is decent and they are open late, the employees still have crappy attitudes. I was walking by a few days ago with my kid and the owner was outside on the phone dropping F bombs. No regard to folks walking by. Sorry but that's classless. I rather travel an extra few minutes and go somewhere else.

Great pizza, beats most of pizza places in Manhattan. Pretty cheap too. One of the oldest pizza places I heard. We came to dine here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Dinner was good, not bad. Great antipasto to start. Baked clams were not that good. 4 stars for the pizza. Nothing really hit me here except for the pizza. They got an unfriendly waitress running around taking care of the entire section, hmmm. Need I say more?

    (3)
  • Jordan T.

Simply the best regular slice in nyc. Boom! I said it. (Their Sicilian is average) The pesto slice is incredible. They only make 3 slices and I love that about this place, it's like walking into a time warp. I hope they don't renovate or change anything, it is truly a special place. They also have a restaurant and the food there is really good and affordable.

    (5)
  • Jenny C.

It's all in the sauce... Hands down the BEST pizza I have ever had!!! The sauce is sweet, cheese all melty, and crust is thin!! Delish!!!!! Small place (but they do have a bigger restaurant on the other side for all their other food) I just wish they would deliver! :(

    (5)
  • Michael C.

I have been a patron of Dani's House of Pizza for almost 40 years. It's amazing to say, however, the quality of their food and service has not changed over the years. If you're looking for a place to have either great Italian food or just a slice of pizza you found the right place!

    (5)
  • Peter P.

It was the best pizza i have ever had in my entire life. They make their own cheese and bread, and everything is just so fresh. Nice and cool staff. Cheap and affordable.

  • Chris R.

It's hard to give a pizza place two stars but I think that's all I can give these guys. A friend and I go in and ordering is a little hectic. We're not sure if we're supposed to order near the oven or sit down and our order will be taken. We sit at the bar and order some slices after a 5-10 min wait and they come in about 10 minutes. Both slices are burned a bit and really crunchy. The pesto could be really good but it was way over cooked making it dry. We each ordered two more slices and had to wait about 10 minutes again. The slices came out and looked great but when we get them, they're crunchy and burned on the bottom again. I really wanted to love this place but it was slow and the pizza was burned and dry. I'll give it one more try the next time I'm in Kew Gardens but for now I'll stick to pizza in forest hills.

The pizza is solid and at a very good price! The pesto pizza is definitely the best option here, and a really fantastic spin on a great NY slice.

Pizza is delicious, only thing i tried, so I'm probably biased. Sweet sauce. love it

  • Chris R.

Probably the best pizza joint in the Forest Hills/Kew Gardens area. Their pizza's are delicious, thin and crispy. I highly recommend for people to try their pesto slices as well (we usually order half regular/pepperoni and half pesto. Their white pizza is also good. Only downfalls are that it's usually very busy and packed with limited space, so plan to call in your order at least 40 minutes ahead and that they don't deliver.

    (4)
  • Sonia S.

Worst service their pizza is good but the workers there are extremely rude waited 40 minutes the other day for a pick up order and then the Mexican says there was no order placed! Definitely not going back ! been going here for years but I've had enough of their nasty attitudes hire new staff !!!

Ahhhh, Dani's House of Pizza. I first discovered this place in the early nineties, coming here with a small group of friends to satisfy our after midnight munchy cravings. Back then there was a special weekly Wednesday $1 a slice deal. I believe they still have a deal on Wednesday but I think they raised the price a couple of times since the years of my youth! At peak hours, since the shop is quite small, the line will trail outside the door fairly quickly. Anyway, the pizza here is the bomb-diggety, it will keep you coming back for more and more. Dani's uses a slightly sweet sauce, the cheese is a cut above the rest, the dough is crisp, not overly thick and the slices are fairly large triangles. I heartily recommend Dani's House of Pizza as they are a wonderful representation of what a NY Queens pizza slice should be.

    (5)
  • Richard L.

Downgrading from two to one star. I would give negative stars if it was possible. As good as the pizza is the guy who's always working the counter is inconsiderate and just doesn't care about the customers. He pretends to not pay attention and when you finally get his attention to order pizza he purposely "forgets" it. This place should be ashamed of themselves for keeping this guy around.

  • Nicole K.

Found this place by accident. For the most amazing pesto pizza! A great find. I like my crust a little chewier but we would go back for pizza again!

  • Zee F.

Pizza is good... not great... when you add sugar to anything (in there case... sauce), it is going to come out good... not rocket science recipe behind it. I want to give this place a NEGATIVE 10 stars If I could for there HORRIBLE customer service... don't believe me? walk in to the store at anytime... the dudes behind the counter will look at you like you just disturbed their peace... I have been going here for last few years now... (only because its open late, else I would of gone elsewhere)... and one thing they do consistently throughtout all those years... is there HORRIBLE customer service.. decent pizza, but nothing special.. and Horrible customer service... bottom line

    (1)
  • Jessica B.

I don't think I will ever return. The pizza is AWFUL, the sauce is so sweet you can't taste the cheese.. I have tasted many pizza's and NEVER tasted a sauce like this. Not to mention the service is horrid. The place is the size of a bathroom in the entrance and is packed with people in their golden years refusing to move. Never again, go elsewhere.

    (1)
  • Rollo T.

Sauce is extremely sweet which indicates to me that it is from a can. Nothing special here, just average pizza.

    (2)
  • Mia A.

The pizza dough is sour , The cheese is not enough on top, After it gets cold it becomes like a rock and no taste . After it's cold it's terrible. Sour pizza ... I don't like it... They making cheap pizza by it's ingredients ... The former owner used to be Italian , now its Spanish they just using a credit of the owner who established this place long time ago... No delivery because they wanna maki it look like it's busy place... Being too arrogant ... And they have liquor license that's the answer why people like grab not only pizza ...

    (1)
  • Omar B.

They are the soup nazi of pizza. (google soup nazi seinfeld show). Attitude is horrible , its like they invented pizza. Maybe they did, this pizza is really good. Yummy!!!

    (5)
  • Teresa S.

Delicious pizza, friendly service! A little on the pricey side but one of my favorite spots to grab a slice. The people who work there are always attentive and warm, and they remembered me and my boyfriend after going there just twice.

I had a really nice dinner here. The location might be a little strange, it's in a corner by the LIRR, but it's a cute little spot. On the left is a sit down area with about ten tables and on the right is a small (generally cramped bc it's a popular spot) takeout area. We sat down instead of doing takeout, and the first thing I noticed is that they don't serve pizza for the restaurant area. I was a little upset because that's what I really wanted, but instead we had ceasar salad (which was really very good) and lasagna and pasta with their homemade sauce. I am very picky about my sauces and I have to say this one was really delicious. It was a little sweet but you could taste the fresh garlic in it and I very much enjoyed it. We had s bottle of wine too and it ended up being a huge dinner for two for under $40 or so. Another plus was that the service was really really good- the waitress did a perfect job at being attentive and suggesting things. I definitely recommend Dani's and would totally come back.

  • Gail B.

I've lived in Kew Gardens for 9 years and this has consistently been the best place to get pizza around here. If you like sweet sauce on your slice you're in luck. Dani's also has a good, reliable menu. So if you're in the mood for something else you really can't go wrong. I've never had a bad meal here. The dining room is small and they don't deliver but the takeout is well worth it.

    (5)
  • Dmitriy S.

I've been coming here for over 9 years. This place is the best for late night pizza when everything else is closed. The prices are right, they also have a large beer selection. I always run into people I know too, so that's always fun.

    (4)
  • Chris W.

The best "New York-style" pizza I've ever had, and the prices only sweeten the deal. Their sauce is awesome, and their generous toppings are huge on top of your slice. The only problem is seating because the place is so popular, but people know well enough to eat and run if they're taking up room at the bar.

Best Pizza in NY! I have been going to this pizzeria for 20 years! Service sometimes rude but it's NY and the pizza is so worth it!!

I would really like to give this place 5 stars but the guys that work the counter prevent me from being able to do that. The food is awesome. However, on more then one occasion I've waited at the counter for 10-15 minutes, while my food gets cold and the guys that work there talk to each other or do nothing. I recommend eating there, the girl that waitresses is very attentive.

OMG pizza. That's what Dani's has to offer. I've only been here late night, but even then it's always packed. Sadly at that time, they have very limited seating- but have no fear! Hang tight standing up for a few minutes and you'll get a seat. No one really hogs them. Pizza is mouth watering and they have a huge selection of beers. I always order two slices no matter what cause its that good. Two thumbs way up.

Pizza is tasty, thin crust with a sweet sauce. As long as you know it's sweeter than the typical pizza sauce, you can enjoy it for what it is. Open super late as well. I don't think I've ever gone there before 10pm, and never sat down at a table. Didn't like the pesto pizza at all, and it upset my stomach. Boo... Service is poor most of the time at the walkup counter, so three stars instead of four. I've been many times since moving to the neighborhood two years ago, and it hasn't improved. Typically, you walk in and stand at the counter to order a slice or two to go and the guys back there don't acknowledge you're there, not even eye contact or a nod. So you're standing there awkwardly in a very narrow space wondering if you should say something. Then someone they know walks in and they'll erupt in loud conversation in Spanish, still ignoring you. Ah well. Just get me my pizza so I can go home. If you can put up with the service, the pizza's worth it when it's late at night and it's the only decent option. Hopefully the late night counter service improves.

Counter service is horrible, but they have the best sauce in Queens! It's a little tight inside and there always seems to be a bit of a wait.. 4 stars because the food outweighs the negatives.

Love the pizza here. When im around kew gardens I take a stroll down perverts to grab a slice or two. Pasta here isn't bad either but you should come for the pizza.

Pizza is decent considering the other places in the neighborhood and it is open very late, which is the only reason why it is so busy. But the service is HORRIBLE! and forget about ordering a whole pie, especially over the phone. They will tell you 20 min and you get there in a half hour and your pie still hasn't even gone into the oven (happened more than once). Your left to just stand around aimlessly in a tiny, hallway sized area, while they are constantly popping out house pizzas. The service staff is rude and inattentive, not to mention a little gross. The same guy that's touching your pizza is also handling the money, all done with his bare hands. Dear Dani, be a smart businessman and invest a little in customer service. At the very least hire some people that have a grasp of the English language and seem attentive. You will not see me eating here EVER again! If I have to wait nearly an hour for pizza I can just drive to Brooklyn or the City for a much better slice.

  • Kris S.

the pizza is crack. plain and simple. i think jesus is in the sauce. seriously. the only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because they don't deliver and if you have to pick up, you're going to wait forever. I don't suggest going here on a friday or saturday night if you are starving to death. you will starve to death waiting for your pizza :(

I have been to this place three times at non-peak hours, with no line ahead. I have stood there a good five minutes each time, and neither of the two gentlemen behind the counter ever bothered to ask what I wanted. Ended up getting fed up with their attitude and walking out all three times. The first time, the guy was too busy discussing personal business on the phone for more than five minutes. It never occurred to the other individual behind the counter that I was waiting to order. The other two times, they were busy discussing current events with their patrons. The level of disrespect these people command towards their customers is absurd. It is not bad enough that the pizza is overpriced versus a slice in Midtown, the service is insulting. I would love to comment on the product itself but unfortunately I have yet to gather the attention of such busy culinary artists, even though there was nobody ahead of me in line. The exact opposite can be said about Paul Michael's Pizza on 126th and Metropolitan. Everyone is very attentive over there. I recommend them.

THE SAUCE! It's all about the sweet sauce in this place. If I could get a jar of the delicious sauce to go I'd probably slather it on just about anything at home. I'm a fan.

BEST PIZZA IN NYC. No, like literally. I don't even live in Queens either, I make trips to Kew Gardens just to go get a couple slices from Dani's. It's cheap, but so fresh and so good. It's also nice to sit there if you have time, their Beer selection is pretty awesome. I am a huge fan of their Plain slice, but their Pesto is good too if you're a Pesto fan. Highly recommended. Again it's the best slice I've had in NYC.

I used to love going to this place it the latest pizza place open and WAS the best pizza in my area. However for the last two years they have supremely disappointed. Two things they are doing now using less sauce and less dough what your left with cheap thin dry pizza. And dry pizza is the worse. Used to go there once a week haven't been their in almost a year and half and I love pizza..

Hands down.... my favorite pizza. I have been eating pizza from this place since 1989. Honestly before I lived in New York it was one of my first stops after landing. Now that I live here in New York, whenever I find myself in Queens, I make sure to leave time to swing by for a slice. The prices are great and if you have time for more than pizza they have a full menu, portions are generous.

  • Mina C.

Hello luvah...come to mama! This place has THE BEST pizza in the whole entire universe. Their sauce is to DIE for. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars if because of the service. The guys behind the pizza bar don't give a rats ass how long you've been waiting and will take their sweet old time in asking you what you'd like. Their dining room is the opposite. The food is completely overpriced and I'd rather go to Vincents than dine here. If you're in the mood for a late night slice, this is the place to go. If you're looking for italian sit down service, go elsewhere.

Fantastic slice of pizza, and in the most cramped setting EVER. Your feet will be stepped on. Children will be trampled. None of this matters when you're on your way to eating a pesto slice ($2.75). They have *60* different bottled beers to pick from. I know this number is a fact because I counted them. Not because I'm Rainman or anything, I just happened to be sitting in front of the beer cooler, and it was so hot in there I was sweating, and what else was I going to do? Anyhow, the regular slice is also great. I like the sauce because it's sweet but has a nice little touch of acidity to it to keep it balanced, and has a great crust. Unless I'm being driven here I don't know that I would go again, just for the convenience factor, but really really glad I went here. Awesome slice joint.

The pizzas here are delicious. The prices are great and the slices are huge. I prefer the cheese over the pesto.

  • Christine M.

Meh. Lived in this hood since I was 4. NEVER got the appeal of dani's. First of all, as another reviewer mentioned, the pizza guys are totally creepy. I can't order a slice without being hit on. Second of all, if they aren't hitting on me they are completely ignoring me. The sauce is weird. It's sweet or something. I don't know, it just doesn't take like a normal slice. And they don't deliver. So, what does Dani's have going for it? The fact that's it's open at ridiculous hours, so when you are dying for a slice at 1 am, there you go. And it's far better than Singa's pizza, that blasphemous crap across the street. But, if you want a really good slice, go to Paul Michael's down by 126th and metro in that little strip of stores. I only go to Dani's if its late and convenient.

This is my FAVORITE pizza place. As a native NYer, i've had LOTS of pizza. LOTS. Dani's blows them all away. This is one of the pizza places where you don't even need to get toppings; just plain is perfectly delicious. Also their pesto slice is out of this world! Pairing a few slices with an Abita Purple Haze is one of life's simple pleasures. Unfortunately since I don't live in the area, I do have to make quite a journey (think an hour+); I still go! The only downside to this place is that it is TINY. I think there are maybe 6 stools total. It's great to sit inside, but if you can't.. there's always the benches for the LIRR station right around the block that work just fine. Also, it's super cheap. $12 for an ENTIRE pie on Wednesdays? Awesome.

    (5)
  • Ben W.

Cheap, fast, tasty. That sums up the pizza at Dani's. The staff arent there to smile and entertain you or even greet you. They just do work and make pies like its their job... oh it is their job. Two slices and a soda for $4 for the lunchtime special. Cant beat it! Ive also had a chicken parm hero to-go, but doubt I will be trying that again. The chicken was suspicious... and rubbery. But I am still alive, so what doesnt kill you makes you stronger, right?

Great for a late night slice. Sauce is sweet for those who have not tried it before. An institution in the neighborhood. Go for it especially after a late night in the city. Their beer selection can't be beat, always changing with the season. Quality food at quality prices.

I long for the days when Dani was alive and well running the show. Those were the good old days when Dani's was voted as the best pizza in queens in several publications, when they didn't serve this pesto pizza nonsense, when you could park in front of the shop without getting a ticket ,even though there is a no standing anytime. I guess Dani's just doesn't hold the same clout with the cops as they used to either. I've been going here for almost 15 yrs,, I live in la now but come back two times every year and stop by for a slice every visit. Over the past few years the quality of the pizza has gone down a little with every visit. The pizza is becoming very inconsistent even from pie to pie and now their sweet sauce (which made their pizza special) is just getting too sweet. This used to be the first meal I would have to welcome me home, but now its just an avg slice. However, since there open just about anytime you want a slice of pizza their rating goes up one star after 1 am and two stars after 2am.

Been to Dani's many times but for the restaurant portion, not the pizza. I think the pizza is too sweet, but I've never gone wrong in the restaurant. I've introduced many friends to Dani's - usually before or after a movie at Kew Garden's Cinema which is right across the street. Super convenient. It's never long before they also bring other friends to Dani's too. Maybe one day I'll try their pesto pizza. This place has been around for so long not because there are somewhat limited choices in the immediate area, but because they have withstood the test of time. Simple, great place.

Dani's House of Pizza.....one of the hidden pizzeria gem in Queens. A small pizzeria stationed over an LIRR overpass in Kew Gardens that enthralls pizza lovers. The sauce was the main factor that made me acknowledge and relish their slice.

I have lived right by Dani's for 4 years and literally only go when i am drunk late at night and there is no other places. to get something to eat. The pizza tastes like sugar and the staff is absurdly unfriendly. The pizza guys have no problem totally ignoring you while you stand there. I am not a fan at all!

    (1)
  • Michael N.

This place is a Queens staple. The slices are huge, and come well-equipped with a distinctive, sweet sauce. I can't comment on the actual food within this place, as I, like many, strictly eat pizza here. If you're only eating pizza and choose to dine in, you're going to be subjected to their rather tight counter-space-area. There are only about 5 stools, but most people take the food home any way. My only real complaint is the service. The guys behind the counter will straight up ignore you. You really need to impose to get your order taken- don't just stand there waiting to be spoken to, because it'll probably never happen. Overall, the pizza is good, and this place is great for a bite in the night.

  • Mike D.

One of my favorite slices of pizza in the world. It's simple, but delicious. Get the regular slice. No need for toppings. Stick with the basics. You could probably eat a whole pie by yourself that's how addictive it is. I will be honest though if you do not like sweet sauces, you might not care for Dani's. I love it though. The crust is thin and chewy. Just perfect. It's worth the trip since they don't deliver.

Best pizza slice in Queens, and, maybe, the world. The pesto pizza is made by the gods.

  • jana h.

Oh my goodness...wonderful international selection of bottled beer---Chimay Blue, now how can you beat that? I love the GREEN slices, which is basically pesto sauce baked into the cheese (not just dribbled across the slices in lines like other pizzerias), but this type can feel a little heavy for the ladies. :) The regular slices are standard Queens borough/NY wonderful-cheese is perfect. The sauce can be on the sweet side, which some people like but not I. Decent slices for your two bucks, and I know being a Queens girl my whole life. The pizza at Dani's is worth trying on your pizza tour of the best NY slice.

  • Jill P.

This is a review of the restaurant, not the pizza. I order take-out from Dani's more often than I eat in but have always had a good experience at the restaurant. As long as you go early like 5ish on a weekday you can get one of the booths by the window which I prefer. They don't deliver so I usually call in my order and then pick it up about 30 minutes later. My favorite dish is Chicken Francese. For $12 you get 4 large pieces of chicken and a side of spaghetti and bread. I usually can make 3 meals out of this one order so that's a great value. I also like the side order of sauteed broccoli with garlic.

This is always my first choice when considering dinner out. I used to live in the neighborhood, so went there much more often back in the day. Wednesday used to be dollar slice day (not sure what it's up to now, but it's worth more than what they charge - their pizza is delicious! I love eating in the dining room, too.... I've tried many different meals over the years, and in my opinion, their cheese ravioli with marinara sauce, the chicken parm and the baked ziti are the best. You really can't go wrong with anything there (the meatballs are also amazing!) Do yourself a favor and eat here!

Dani's is the epitome of a New York Pizzeria. The pizza is great, the food is awesome and the prices are lower than expected for the quality of food. Jessica the waitress is awesome and great at her job. I strongly suggest the chicken parm with fried pasta. The hot bread with butter in the restaurant area makes the perfect For those who like beer with their pizza; an often overlooked part of Dani's appeal is their amazing beer selection which they continue to change with the season. They must have an unusual selection of at least 15 different beers including microbrews. Best of all on weekends they're open till I think 4am. What more can you ask.

Just had 2 slices last night for Dinner.. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! so worth the cheat. And fresh had them back to back and both slices were from different pies straight out of the oven. mmmm

  • Sidney T.

Everything that is said about this place is true and then some. I have been coming here from day on,over 50 years ago. The food is consistent ly excellent with service to match. Try the Baked Ziti for openers with one of their beers from the huge selection being offered.

  • Joey R.

Went here while staying with a friend since it's the local neighborhood pizza spot. The slices were huge in portion and great for the price but the sauce is just too sweet. I am not quite sure why but it's a strikeout compared to some top notch New York Pizza I have had before. I have a much higher standard for NYC pizza than anywhere else in the world so I might be a tad harsh in the department. My friend brought some pasta home the same evening and it fell into the same category, just kind of underwhelming. I wouldn't come out of my way to eat here but before I leave Tuesday I will be eating the pizza again, I am a whore for convenience!

  • Paola G.

This is not the place to bring someone on your first date. The place is small and the decor is very archaic, but you can't go wrong when a plain pie is $10, compared to price tag of $2 per slice. Obviously buying wholesale is key here. Its the best deal in the area for a nice quick, cheap meal when you're on your way home. The pizza is slightly sweet and very cheesy, but also very good. Their parmesean cheese is great too. I didn't stay to eat, but it doens't look comfortable. The staff is aloof, and how could they not? Its hot as hell in there and theres probably poor ventilation. They also have pie-eating contests every so often, so thats kinda fun. Stop bitchin' and moaning and see what all the fuss is about. It won't break the bank, so if you didn't like it you won't be kicking yourself in a week.

i love Dani's pizzeria so much the pizza is great and the sauce is so different from other pizzerias it has like a sweet taste that makes you wanting more . i have no complaint's except that this is the only pizzeria where they make 3 Sicilian pies for the whole day which stinks because there Sicilian slices are off the hook . They also have a dinning room where you can get some yummy Italian food, the chicken parm is SO yummy and the mozzarella sticks are some big bad boys they look like there on steroid's lol . so far its the best pizza in queens . they staff is usually pretty friendly and quick to notice you unless they are crazy busy but everything its always great here . so if your in the area stop by Dani's for some yummy pizza . they also make a amazing potato and egg hero with mozzarella cheese SO yummy

I had read and heard good things about this neighborhood spot. Unfortunately, Dani's was comically awful. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel like nuisances, not paying customers. The workers either ignored customers completely, or made snide comments. Another patron slipped and fell on a step (it had been raining), and the workers basically laughed it off and literally blamed the victim. The pizza itself is ok, but nothing special. Mall food courts have similar fare. The nicest thing I can say is that it's good for the price, and the price is cheap.

I just don't get it. My boyfriend raved about Dani's and now I see a 5 star rating for it here on YELP. Why?!? It's quite clear that the place was established in 1959---looks like the place hasn't changed since. You enter/exit through a single door to a very slim entryway (Hello! Fire trap!). A counter is on your left where they make the pizza, a huge open window in the store front also bordering the area. From the aforementioned, you should deduce 1. Dani's is VERY NON-HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE in every way, shape, and form, and 2. how clean is a place which has a huge, open window right where they're cooking, the ingredients lying out? As for seating, good luck cause you'll literally need to be lucky in order to sit...there are only 7 stools built into a counter where you're "allowed" to eat pizza---think old school luncheonette (and yes, I said "allowed". Are you getting it?). There is also a dining room portion to the restaurant which is a few steps down from the aforementioned pizza area---again NON-HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE. You can't sit in this section if you're ordering only pizza...well, that's what I was told anyway. And I wouldn't want to? Again, remember it looks like it hasn't changed much since '59...and none too clean at that. You'll also need luck or perhaps a flare to get the attention of the guys working behind the counter. No one looked me in the eye---and I'm a girl, so my boyfriend had a very hard time getting their attention. I can't even say the staff is rude as that'd be too kind/nice. It was as if this staff was doing you a favor by taking your order or money for that matter. The only kindness I was witness to was that shown to the "regulars"--some guy shouting about what was going on with the Yankee game and how the Mets don't discriminate as they're the metropolitan team and represent all boroughs. Yep, this is a little taste of what you'll experience at Dani's and with Singa's Pizza just across the street, Dani's owner should consider its customer service lest his profits decline. As an older blonde victim of bad rhinoplasty in a crisp, white collared shirt who obviously took a wrong turn on her way to Sag Harbor stated as she sat on the edge of her metal stool at the filthy counter, while eating her slice with a knife and fork off a paper plate and sipping her soda through a straw out of a paper cup with her pinky in the air, the sauce is sweet. (Sorry, but the woman realllly rubbed me the wrong way and if she did that to me, I can only imagine how the Dani's staff felt about her because they didn't like anyone to begin with!) The sweetness is the reason my boyfriend loves this pizza--he swears sugar seems to be added to the sauce on every pie. Dani's is a New York slice and mine was fresh out of the oven. Like a number of other pizzas I've had, it tasted a certain way which my family has nicknamed "pork pie"---there's a sort of aftertaste tang that we've attributed to something the pan is greased with a la lard. My boyfriend couldn't believe I didn't think it was the greatest thing. Coke products are available as well as a myriad of beers and wine. In case you venture to this hole in the wall, do know the bathroom really is a hole in the wall. You have to walk up a few steps (NON-HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE) in the dining room to a small bathroom. You literally can see the innards of the wall around the door frame since they didn't finish off the tiling job, Kudos for the bottle of Tilex sitting in there, but the soap comes out inches above and all over the hot handle of the faucet. I'm sure I'll go back to Dani's with my boyfriend since he loves it and has been going there for a long time...but you'll find me across the street, eating a nice slice from the lovely staff at Singa's.

Always busy as it's a consistently good Italian restaurant in a neighborhood that's lacking quality restaurants. The pizza is pretty good with a thin crust, but the sauce is a bit sweet for my liking. If dining in, the dining room offers a basic, italian menu - if you're looking for a parm dish, lasagna, marsala, franchaise, or clam sauce you'll find what you're looking for. You'll wait a while in the crammed pizza counter area, but once in the dining room you will be seated comfortably and service is good and quick - pretty impressive as it's usually one waitress covering the whole dining room. She knows what she's doing and does a great job.

I moved to this neighborhood almost a year ago and I believe the first time I tried it, was after a few beers at the Austin Ale House. I took a bite and it was surely one of the best slices I've ever had. That's if you enjoy tomato sauce on the sweet side. And it wasn't just the post-drinking-everything- is- yummy taste buds talking. Their pesto slices deserve a try as well. They also have a large collection of beers including one of my favs - Purple Haze raspberry flavored beer. I still haven't sat down in the restaurant section for a dinner plate yet, but if it's as good as their slices, I'll be a happy camper.

We came for the pizza and only the pizza. There was a long and constant line and wait to get into the rest of the restaurant, though. The mushrooms were terrible. They were in a tub of yellow liquid and tasted like they were rancid, sour, and terrible. Bad enough to give this place one star. But I won't because the pizza quality, bread, sauce, was the best thing in the world. Just get plain cheese, like what my friend knows to do for true pizza. This is what I would call as the standard NY pizza and my hunt for the best NY pizza would have stopped here without the need to go or try anywhere else.

This review is ONLY for getting slices, not for pies nor the restaurant... It's pretty much awesome. They're open late and on Wednesday nights they have deals on slices. Place is always packed with people and individual slices are consistently great. The workers are real sweethearts too. Now for the pizza itself, the dough is soft & pillow-y. The sauce they use is on the sweeter side & the cheese is yummy. Since there is so much traffic, all the slices are almost fresh out the oven. In the summer they hold a annual pizza eating contest & it's free to enter, great neighborhood spot!

The pizza here has a sweet sauce and a crispy thin crust. I really enjoy it. They really should only get three stars because they offer the worst service, but they are open till 3 or 4 in the morning most nights of the summer. For quicker service order in spanish.

Want decent slice of pizza? Check Want cheap but really good Italian food? Double Check!! My husband LOVES the pizza from Dani's, but I LOVE the Italian food here. The food is GREAT and the prices are EVEN BETTER!! We've had the following at Dani's Mussels Marinara - DELICIOUS!! Dip the bread from your bread basket in this sauce, guarantee you cannot stop eating the sauce! Baked Clams - your run of the mill baked clams Baked Eggplant - Generous sized portion Chicken Cutlet Parmigan - have the pasta with "fried sauce" Garlicky goodness! Chicken Marsala - tender chicken with great marsala wine flavor! Chicken Caccitore - another great dish! They normally have 1 waitress in the small dining room which means you might have to wait a little bit for your food when it gets busy. We love coming here because we know we'll get good food at a great price!!

Two dollars. Plain cheese pizza slice. And I'm not a fan of the plain cheese pizza pizza. But, note, the five stars. Count them: Five. For a slice of pizza? Yes. And also the sit down part of Dani's that has me drooling just thinking about the pumpkin ravioli.

Well, the pizza was good, but we really didn't understand how (or WHY) a pizza place does NOT serve PIZZA in the dining area!! The pizza is sold from a side store front, but if you order a whole pie, you CAN'T eat it on-site!!! WHAT??!! You can stand in the pizza side, and wait 25 min. for your pizza, but you can't eat it there, NOR in their restaurant?? (Not to mention the pizza makers are rude when you question the system!) IMHO, not worth it.

This is the pizza I grew up eating. After a family run or after laundry, we'd often stop by here for a pie. I'd eat a slice staring at Frank Sinatra's mug shot. (Where's that mug shot gone?) Fast forward years later, I've moved out of Kew Gardens and no pizza really stands out. But coming back here and biting into that sweet sweet sauce brings me back to them youthful days.

Very quick review of Dani's. I came here for the first time in ages a few weeks ago after watching the last Jets game of the year around the corner at Austin Ale House, and the slices were top notch as usual. Many years ago, Dani's was one of the few places to grab something to eat after midnight and beyond. I do recall numerous times coming here after a long session at Keegans, or the Irish Cottage, to grab some late night slices. The slices are one the bigger side and always fresh. The sauce is on the sweeter side than A&J's for example. They do a great business here with local Kew Gardens folks getting stuff to go, or just popping in. It is a very, very small place and people tend to linger at the counter seating area too long, so I suggest getting your pizza to go. There is a small restuarant in the back, but I've only ate there a few times. From what I recall, it was very good, homemade standard Italian fare.

Great pizza but be prepared to wait a bit and the workers are not the friendliest. They don't deliver which is a bummer but the slices are terrific! You will want more than one.

That pesto pizza slice is pretty awesome. Highly recommend it. I think this place belongs on a top 10 NYC Best pizza joints. This place is right by the LIRR Kew Garden train station. I have a feeling I'll be getting off at this station just for the pizza.

So I decided to stop by Dani's House of Pizza after my friend told me that it was the best pizza she ever had and because it is somewhat near St. John's. I've actually never been in this part of Kew Gardens before and honestly I found it to be very gloomy and isolated (it is located next to a cemetery!) I got here at around 3pm and there was a really short line. I do agree that the servers kind of ignore you when you go in but I was able to catch their attention and order. I wanted to order 1 regular slice and 1 pesto slice but unfortunately, they didn't have pesto when I went so I just got 1 regular slice. It was really good! I find it really hard to differentiate between pizza from different restaurants but Dani's really stands out because of the sweet sauce!! I honestly don't know why people are complaining about the sweetness of the sauce...I thought it was amazing! The best thing is the slice was only $2 so cheap AND delicious :) I probably won't come back to try the dinner menu (they have restaurant seating on the other half of the store) but I definitely will be back to try the pesto slice!!

This place just served me the best slice of pizza I've ever had in my life. My friends felt the exact same way. It's all in the sauce. You NEED to make sure you try a slice with extra sauce on top. Make sure you ask the worker to cut the slice in half though, it makes it easier to eat. The 25min drive & 20min line is well worth the wait for a 2am slice. Definitely would recommend!

Dani's still has some of the best pizza you'll find anywhere around NYC! The pesto pizza is not my thing though it's popular here. They also have a large beer selection now. It can get pretty crowded at night and as far as I know they don't deliver. If they had a TV I would probably give it 5 stars.

I grew up eating Dani's Pizza since I attended PS 99 (a couple of blocks away). I'm now 29 and I still crave their pizza. I moved to College Point, Queens a year ago and I still drive 20 mins to grab a slice. Who cares about customer service when the pizza is that good??? The sauce is sweet and I love it.

It's the King of Queens and maybe, beyond... I moved to New York in 1998 in the borough of Queens and in the hood that is Kew Gardens. After unpacking the Ryder and dropping it off somewhere on Queens Blvd in Jamaica, my roommate and I hopped on the E and went to...Time Square, duh. Don't judge, you would have too if you just came from middle earth like we did. After taking it all in, we saw Smith's Bar. Back then, it was still a dive. Hell, back then, Time Square was still a hot mess. Giuliani hadn't gotten rid of all the Strip clubs, hookers and drug dealers, yet and made it look like The Mall that it is today. The bartenders wore white lab coats and half the people in there looked homeless. We got crooked. Hard. But that's another story. Somehow, we were able to find our way back to Kew Gardens. Mind you this was pre- smart phones. Stumbling back to Metropolitan Ave. we passed by Dani's and it was packed. It was 2am on a weekday. We dove right in and had the first New York slice of our lives. To this day...it is the best slice of my life. Now, i'm not saying it's the best pie. What i'm saying is, it's the BEST slice! Juiana's, Patsy's , Al Forno...THOSE are the best PIES that i've had. But, Dani's slice is just what you want when that time comes and for my taste it's the best. The sauce is sweet. Maybe, this is why. I don't have a sweet tooth, but I love a garlicky, sweet sauce and they got it. Add that to a thin, crispy crust and the right amount of good, quality cheese and you got the winner! I've been searching for a better slice ever since I left Queens and I've never come close. Those $1 slice and $6 pie Wed used to be a routine for me and my roomy. Gone are those days, but that taste and that slice still exists in Kew Gardens. So much so, I make a pilgrimage at least once a year to have it. Oh, they have a cute dining area too. Although I had other items on their menu, I don't remember them being great or bad so I won't go there...

My favorite pizza spot in Forest Hills. Very authentic and perfect New York style. They have a great beer and cider selection as well. Try their delicious cannolis!

Stopped going there since the staff stopped using disposable gloves to handle food .Sorry, can't bear the thought of those hands handling pizza toppings and cash or worse at the same time. Heard pizza is still good ...

Dani's House of Pizza is definitely a Kew Gardens staple, and for all the right reasons! They offer a sit-down dinner in their restaurant area (which is quite small) as well as a small, casual bar that allows for pizza pick-up or to sit down and have a few slices and drink a few beers. They do not have a full-service bar but they do serve wine and bottled beer, and major points to them for having the cheapest beer I have seen in the Queens area. They also have a pretty large selection of bottled beer which is also great. It is important to note that they do get very busy on the weekends because it is a much smaller restaurant. However, if you decide to stop by for a slice they offer delicious pesto pizza (a saltier companion to the traditional cheese pizza) and have awesome, always served hot and fresh cheese pizza. The star of Dani's though lies in there tomato sauce...it is much sweeter than the standard red sauces you may find at an Italian restaurant but whatever they put in it is absolutely delicious and only makes their cheese pizza even better. There late hours, convenience next to the LIRR stop and a long held reputation as one of the best pizza places in Queens makes Dani's a definite in my books. It won't break your wallet and will leave you feeling satisfied and wanting to go back! My only complaint with Dani's is the crowds...almost always there's a wait of about 15 minutes to get into the restaurant, the service can tend to be a bit slow and there restaraunt is quite small.

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised here. Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior: Dani's House of Pizza is your new home away from home. The crust is perfect and the sauce is a treat for your tastebuds. I was in heaven with my plain and pesto slices. PESTO!! Whoddathought a pesto-inspired slice could be so perfect? It wasn't heavy nor too rich as I had suspected it would be -- instead, an optimal balance of basil, olive oil and pine nut flavors. Catch a flick at Kew Gardens Cinema and grab a slice here for an ideal Sunday afternoon. I live in Williamsburg but would gladly take the 45-minute bus ride for Dani's.

I've been a patron since I was in elementary school so this review is lacking in impartiality. The pizza here, in my opinion, is the best pizza in New York. The crust is thin and crispy , the marinara is deeply rich in flavor, and the cheese has the perfect fat content. The pesto slice is also unique to this establishment and well worth ordering. The service is not the best however, when the product is this good, it sells itself. Guaranteed to hit the spot when your in the mood for pizza.

Literally the best pizza you can have with some friends on a late night ! Thin crust , sweet sauce & great quality at a very reasonable price .

Walked over to Kew Gardens from Forest Hills today and sat down for a slice and soda. Lunchtime during the work week it looks like only the small bar area is open for seating, and can handle 5-6 diners. There is a larger dining room to the side, possibly for the weekends and/or dinner time. The pizza was hot and fresh, the sauce, cheese, and crust were great. I also took two slices to go, I will want to try the pesto sauce slice next time. Price was very reasonable, two plain slices, a pepperoni slice, and fountain soda cost $7. For quality pizza this was a bargain. They also have a large selection of bottled beers and they were also priced well. The service was good and accommodating, never rushed or hassled despite the demand for the bar seats. I had my pizza fast and the staff behind the counter was attentive and friendly. Has the vibe of a low key local joint with friendly patrons. Definitely give it a try when you are in the area, and if you can't get a spot at the bar get a few slices to go!

Now being from Brooklyn there are a million places that claim that they make the best pizza and this place is STILL my favorite. Perfect crisp in the crust, perfect light sauce, BIG slices and wide assortment of toppings (beef pepperoni is amazing). The beers to compliment the meals don't hurt. There is always a line and never enough seats but that doesn't even warrant a loss of a star because that pizza is sooooooo daaaamn gooooood.

Old School! So apparently this place has been around forever and the taste of the pizza really brought me back to my childhood. With the first bite I took, it really brought be back like 25 years. The place itself is a no frills place and there is a stool area with about six seats or a dinning room area to the left. From the fridge there is oddly a pretty extensive beer selection. The guys behind the counter are friendly, but in a good attitude, snarky kinda way. The food: Reg slice- This is such a classic slice of pizzeria pizza. The sauce is a tad sweet and the dough was soft. My only criticism would be the bottom was too soft, if it was crunchy, it would be a perfect slice, but that's just me nitpicking. Pesto slice- I thought the flavors were good but I couldn't get over the grease factor. And this slice, as well, was too soft for me. When you fold it in half from the crust, the front portions flops down. yelp.com/user_local_phot… Sicilian slice- it was a very run of the mill Sicilian, not really bad, not really good. The reg is the clear winner. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Dani's has the best pizza in Kew Gardens--it's true New York style pizza and their lunch deals are great. Four stars for not much variety--simple is good too though. It's small, but there are lots of places nearby to sit down and enjoy your slice. Note: my coworkers and I are pretty sure Dani's is CLOSED on MONDAY'S (based on continued observation) despite the hours listed on Yelp and on their website.

My first meal in NYC this time around! My uncle took me to the restaurant first, which is next door to the pizza counter. Food was decent next door, we had raviolis and eggplant parm and both were pretty good. Walking by the pizza counter, I was craving a slice of their pesto pizza so even though we were full, we got a slice to share after dinner. Sitting down at the bar/counter, I also noticed they serve Magic Hat, my favorite beer from my grad school days! They are a local brewery that just started to expand and you can find some of their beers now at Bevmos in Cali but choices are very limited. This place is filled with yummy pizza, cheesy smells as they are baking fresh pies right in front of you! Most orders are to go but we decided to enjoy our hot, cheesy pizza right there. Perfect combo with the Magic Hat's Circus Boy hefe...yummers! In New York, where they are known for their thin crust pizzas, Dani's definitely deserves a place in the top. Man, I love pizza!

  • Tracy L.

Great pizza, big slices with the perfect thin crust! I like their sauce, but hubs thinks it's a little too sweet. I've only had dinner here once. The food was decent but forgettable, just your typical red sauce joint Eye-talian. (But the cozy restaurant feels like a little secret, and there was a toy train set up along the walls - endearingly quirky.) The guys who work here are a little gruff, but seem nicer to regulars.

I keep coming and I keep getting disapointed. I was in there trying to get a single slice of pizza and I'm waiting and I'm waiting and some person walks in and asks for a slice with 4 people waiting to order in front and he gets his food before anybody had a chance to order. It's a great place if you know the management but pitiful if you just want a quick slice. Smh

The 1 star is for the food being decent. Besides that some of the worst service I have ever experienced. We were sat downstairs at a table. When we attempted to order pizza (from a pizza place) were told, "you have to order a menu item for each person in order to obtain any pizza". Huh? So ridiculous. Wanted to leave but just stuck with it. Our one pizza slice each took 55 minutes to reach our table. Unreal. Never again.

In Queens for the night and after a quick yelp search before returning the rental I stopped by to grab two slices before heading back to the hotel and was glad I did! This place makes a great slices pie!! They use a sweet sauce and top grade cheese that if you cannot tell the difference from the cheap stuff you need to stick to your frozen pizza. I went with an extra cheese and a mushroom. Both were good, but always prefer the fresh mushrooms to the canned ones. Overall the good quality will have be coming back. The line is a little dysfunctional when you enter, but it is price you pay for good food. Friendly guys behind the counter and plan to try again the next time I am on the area!

  • Adrianna C.

The pizza isn't bad, but the utter lack of customer service and neglect earned this joint one solitary star. My friend and I were blatantly ignored for over 10 minutes and we were sitting at the counter, where no fewer than 4 people were working. We asked one of the waitresses if we could order a few slices and she said we had to "get on line." So, I went and stood online, only for the pizza cook to tell me to "sit back down." Not nicely, mind you. I was starting to contemplate waking out, but we wanted to have a quick bite before seeing a movie that was playing across the street from Dani's. Well, we finally got our pizza--and we wanted sodas, but the waitress walked away before we could ask for drinks. To be frank, I don't know how this place is still in business. The pizza was ok, but not good enough to deal with this kind of bs. Never again!

Dani has the best pizza in queens...hands down, in fact all the food here is simply amazing. For the pizza I think the secret is the sweet sauce they use, which always seems to be a hit with customer, whenever I have come in for a slice here, I never leave disappointed. In fact I always try an come in for more. The slice are much bigger if you come in for it. And why wouldn't you come in for a slice! The guys are friendly and love to talk. So if your looking for the best slice in town, come to Dani. You will never leave disappointed.

Yes the pizza is sweet, that is their signature. The pizza is always fresh, overall pretty cheap and somewhat addicting. Weds is a great day for pizza, they have a deal and they even have a lunch special for the weekday. Yes the service, well I don't have a problem with them but I can see why others would. You have to be somewhat aggressive but nice since they don't like mean people, seen it for myself. They will keep you in check if you aren't. Great selection of beers for a decent price. The munchkin in my pic loves this place. She is currently running around that we are getting pizza, such a happy little one.

There really isn't another place that I can think of that makes pizza like Dani's. That real, authentic NY style slice with a thin crust and delicious sauce with just enough cheese. This place has been around for the longest time and still stands as one of the true NY style pizza joints. It's famous and a super small space so come prepared to wait a little for a slice and maybe even stand up to eat it along the 4 foot wall counter because there is minimal counter seating. Trust me, the slice tastes just as good standing as it does while seated. Mangia!!!

If there were two things that won my wife and I over to Kew Gardens, it was hands down Dani's phenomenal pizza and Odradeks coffee. Coming from the intense pizza turf of suburban long island where I knew my old stand by was the best, Dani's has probably the best pizza I have ever enjoyed, that they only keep pesto and regular slices regularly available makes its simplicity and quality even more endearing and enduring. My wife and I have also loved just being able to sit down for an excellent dinner of Italian comfort food in their cozy dining room and sample their exhaustive beverage menu. We especially love the Lambic and ciders! The prices are definitely reasonable and we especially loved the holiday decorations this past Christmas. The new sign looks awesome by the way!!! We look forward to participating in some of the events this upcoming year!

I went here again this time for take out and of course the pizza was still amazing!! We tried the pesto slice this time and that was really good - however I don't recommend reheating it. Eat the pesto slice when it's fresh or just cold, reheating it ruins it!

I read an article about the best pizza in queens and since Dani's was close my wife and I tried their pizza. I was also referred to this place by my neighbors. We ordered one slice of their pesto and one regular with anchovies and jalapenos. The pesto slice taste great. The regular slice was better because of their sauce. Their sauce had a sweet and tangy taste and was homemade. Everything is made to order. The have a great deal where you can get two slices and pop for $4. How could you say no. I believe a good pizza joint needs to have great sauce and crust. They excelled in both areas. I will definitely come back.

  • Gabby B.

There's just no way you can get a bad slice of pizza here. I live like a few blocks away and the line is always out the door, even at 3am (although that isn't much of a shock). The sauce is delicious; it's sweet and just the right amount. Pesto slice is so unbelievably good. Slices are also on the large side, which is awesome. The guys that own the place are nice and they're pretty hilarious. There might be better pizza in New York City, but there definitely is no better pizza in Queens.

    (4)
  • M A.

Dani's tomato sauce is superb and makes their plain slice one of the best in NY. Kudos to my friend for suggesting this place for a quick bite. The pesto slice is also nice but if it is your first time here, go with the plain - you won't regret it.

  • Kasey S.

I live close to this place and there are a few positives as well a few negatives. 1. Its open late and really the only option for food in the early morning. 2. Food is pretty good Now for the negatives 1. The service there is pretty horrible. A few times I have gone in and of course making sure that I was next in line would ask for some slices then get ignored for about 15 minutes each time. If it only happened once then I wouldn't complain but it happens almost every time I go there. I will still go cuz the food is good and its convenient !

A great pizza consists of: 1) A good crust 2) A great sauce 3) A right cheese to sauce ratio. Dani's has all three down perfectly. Try it, you'll be be glad you did

  • Alexis T.

The pizza here is ok. Not horrible, not great, but just ok. It does get packed here, but its pretty obvious why. Dani's is the only pizza spot on Lefferts Blvd. that sells by the slice. They're also open super late whereas nothing else in the neighborhood is, aside from 7/11, so of course there's going to be a line out the door. People need something to soak up all that booze. The one thing I hate about coming here are the guys at the counter. They will stand there without acknowledging you until you say something, and will look right over you. Sometimes they're just too busy bullshitting. Aside from that, if you need a quick slice late at night, this is the place.

    (3)
  • Rob A.

Late night pizzas are the best. Finally found something in Queens that's open late besides fast food and diners. The pizza sauce here is a little sweeter than most places, but that's one of the reasons I enjoy eating here. Place is a little small, it can get packed at times especially during the late night. I dropped a star for service, the staff did not seem too engaging to us and they were about a foot away. Their focus would be mostly to each to each other. Other than that I do recommend this place, especially when all the other spots in Queens are closed.

    (4)
  • Fariha S.

I've been here twice so far and I love both their regular slice and their pesto slice. If you love pesto then you should definitely try the pesto slice. I love the sweet sauce that they use in their regular slice. It's very affordable too...can't remember how much I spent but couldn't be more than $7 for the two slices and a soda. The slices are also pretty large so it fills you up good. On my top pizza places list.

  • Norma S.

Good stuff! Pizza spot/restaurant open as late as a NYC club. The only reason why I don't give 5 stars is because they didn't have all toppings. maybe it was because it was midnight?! lol not sure. It does offer a sit down restaurant a few steps away from the walk up pizzeria. But the buzz is the slices. They go fast but they keep on making them! it's crazy! at midnight?! lol :) score!

2 am in the morning and was feeling my insomnia kick in, so i decided to run some late night errands and to visit some food spots around my area that had previously piqued my interest. danis house of pizza was a spot that had been on my radar for a while now, and the pesto pizza ( being that I adore pesto) was exactly the food item I was looking to add to the plethora of explored food items, and I can honestly say I was underwhelmed. aside from that fact that this is a pesto pizza, there is nothing outstanding about the pizza here, your average NYC slice nothing more and nothing less, the real disappointment to me here was the fact that I could only taste the pesto in the faintest sense. I expected to be enveloped in the beautiful aroma of basil olive oil and pinenuts, and only experienced a tepid handshake of flavor at best. nothing to really go out of your way for, but if its late and you're in the mood for pizza, it will do

*Warning* place gets extremely packed at night. Esp on a weekend. I love pizza so here we go. This place rocks!!!! I have only ordered a plain cheese slice but it is the Best plain pizza ever!!!! Huge slices, not very saucy and just the right amount of cheese. The sauce is sweet and just delishhhhhhh. Beer? Oh plenty of beer selection here. Mmmmm & they had my favorite Lindeman's Framboise raspberry beer!!!! Winning!!!! I had a garden salad and some fresh mozzarella tomatoes to go with my pizza.

Pizza holds a special place in my heart. Dani's old-fashioned parlor-style pizza bought back memories of my childhood when I bothered my grandma until she took me to my favorite pizza parlor. Some things don't change. I am an adult now and I still ordered a regular slice with HI-C fruit punch juice - it was my favorite combination when I was a kid! This is exactly what I got at Dani's, too. The regular slice of cheese pizza was very cheesy. I still love stretching the cheese every bite to see how far it goes! The pesto pizza was light in pesto flavor but the aroma is there. The crust was soft and I would like it more if it was a bit harder and crunchier. The parlor counter is very small and you can see everything in just one glance. They only have seats for a few people during the day. The beer selection here is impressive and hard to resist especially when I was only on lunch break from work!

Always good pizza!! Can never go in and just get one slice. I have to get a regular slice and a pesto slice! The trick is to get the pesto slice with a bit of sauce on top! The sauce!!! Just mmmm ...the only thing, sometimes the guy behind the counter is a little rude.. Still 5 stars!!

Dani's was pretty difficult to get to without a GPS despite it being 10 minute (late at night close to midnight) away from my gf's place. I ordered a large 3 to 4 topping pizza for pick up because hunger kicked in 11ish PM at night (I know, talk about that weight gain that night, but totally worth it). Dani's hit the spot, the pizza was hot and fresh and everything just blends so well together and melts in your mouth. I believe there was 9 slices. I should've stopped at 2 slices, but overestimating my ability to finish the the last slice sent me into a bloat food coma. I regretted it, but secretly liked it....what a weird feeling. Anyways, It's really difficult to articulate Pizza since almost everyone has had it one point in their life. So my only recommendation is to try for yourself and you won't be disappointed. I'm not a Pizza fanatic but I've tried a few of the ones people talked about Gramaldi's and Lombardi's and Dani is up there with them when compared to taste and quality. Final thoughts: I will definitely be making a trip and eating at the restaurant soon to get a sit down experience.

I have been hearing infamous stories about the late night pesto pizza. According to several people, it was the heaven of pizza. Today, I was lucky enough to have an experience of my own. I ordered the pesto pizza, and could understand why this is a famous Queens slice. Needless to say, I thought the slice was quite greasy. Naturally, pesto is oily---so I guess this is a given. What I liked most about the slice was that the cheese stayed on with every bite (believe it or not, this is a difficult accomplishment for most pizza establishments). Double thumbs up for offering a dairy-free cheese option for pizza. I will most definitely be back for this! I have not seen one pizza place in Queens offer this. LACTOSE INTOLERANTS WE HAVE HOPE! Prices are affordable!

mmmmm....Danis pizza.. a late night or any night for that matter pizza lovers haven. My friends and I religiously have been going to this place for years now. So much so that they know my order already: the broccoli slice. The staff are cool. and Dani ( the owner) is always there and is also friendly to talk too. I have dined in the restaurant a few times and the cuisine is very scrumptious. Geraldo makes the best food there. Go grab yourself a slice and hang out with your boyz.

I have been eating here for so long... Always the spot for a late night slice. I'm picky when it comes to pizza crust but Dani's is perfect. Their sauce is incredible. Pesto slice is amazing, even though I'm a basic pepperoni fan. Since there are only a few seats inside its more of a grab and go spot, unless you want to dine in the fancy restaurant they have.

I come here constantly and am In love with the pizza but I have to rate this place a 1 star because of their disrespectful and unprofessional staff. They literally pay no mind to you at all and clearly have no respect for their work place.

even though the place have a great pizza, i was turned off by unsanitary condition: workers who sell pizza, collect money and at the same time prepare pizza without washing hands or using gloves. THAT IS A BIG TURN OFF AND HEALTH DEPARTMENT VIOLATION! Every one knows that money is the dirtiest thing on earth, it circulates between so many people. I dont have to explain how many viruses and bacteria can be spread through that, and it goes right into your delicious pizza slice The owner should have a serious talk with his employees or have a separate person who handles payment only, without touching food

If this was based on food alone, this would be a five-star review. This is the best takeout pizza in the Kew Gardens/Forest Hills area, bar none. The pesto slice always hits the spot and the sweet sauce is definitely signature and something different. However, the service is mediocre at best. It's hard to think of a pizza counter (never been to the dining room) as something that could be done poorly, but at Dani's the staff isn't attentive, there's no method to the madness and they help customers in a somewhat arbitrary order because of it. Most importantly, if you're ever calling ahead to order a few pies to go, you have to make sure to give them your name before you start placing your order. Most times they won't take down your info if you don't specifically request it, and on more than one occasion have given away my pizza to the first person who comes in with the same order, leaving me to sit and wait for them to start all over again when I walk in. In addition - this isn't something that necessarily bothers me, but may be of interest to the clean freaks out there - I've seen staff members openly eating slices right next to the food prep/serving area, which isn't the best look and probably isn't the most sanitary, either. However, all the negative staff comments aside, the pizza is worth it! The hours (til 4 a.m.) are also phenomenal if you're going out and need a bite right near the LIRR and close to the subway.

My friend insisted on taking me here yesterday. He said the food is amazing and it is a must have. So I agreed and went with him. The dining area is small but nice. We ordered two regular slice and penne alla vodka with chicken. Definitely the best slice of pizza I ever had. The sauce on the pizza was sweet. Penne alla vodka was so yummy! I can say the food was sooo good and delicious! Will definitely come back here again!

Awesome pizza open late! We got out of the airport at 1am and were hungry for something. We were so happy we found this place, and that they stayed open until 3am!! Seriously delicious pizza.

We ordered a veggie pie, and a pesto slice on the side. I was really excited to sample what had continuously been referred to as some of the best pizza in Queens. That's a bold statement, and one that I'd heard on many different occasions. So, I'll concede that I had set the bar pretty high. I was severely underwhelmed! I'm not sure what happened. Perhaps I visited on an off night. Maybe a veggie pie wasn't the way to go. In any case, I had one slice of each of the previously mentioned varieties and am not in any particular rush to revisit this pizzeria. The pizza was dry, and very one dimensional. There was absolutely no depth of flavor and the veggies were undercooked. I'm not sure how long my pesto slice had been sitting out for, but it was dried out. Bleh. Make no mistake: I will have another slice from Dani's in the future. They will have a chance to redeem themselves at some point. But, I'm certainly not going out of my way for it.

I haven't been back since October of 2014 my last review. I only went because my mother I law wanted to go there for her birthday. It's her favorite place. Anyway we still had the same awful waitress. My mother and I arrived early to secure tables but the place was empty. Many years ago Dani's was a popular eatery and the last few times I understand the lack of guests. The staff is terrible. My waitress though the place empty couldn't bother to offer us water. She was too busy chit chatting about having to hold a table. Literally only three other people arrived at this point. Finally my family showed up and she comes over and asks us if we were ready. How about "may I take your order"? Then my moms sautéed spinach had a piece of metal. Like when an aluminum piece from a can when opening with opener falls in. My mom never said anything to the waitress. But my penne aka vodka had a nail. My husband was mad at this point. The waitress asked where did I find it? Like what I carry nails? I try to FIND THE POSITIVE to every PLACE I EAT. But this was too awful. Never again! We didn't order dessert. Paid and left. I don't want or need a discount. I need not too did from nail in my food.

I heard and read a lot of positive reviews before trying Danny's pizza. Unfortunately, I did not like it. The sauce on a plain pizza it too sweet and it seems like there is too much yeast in the dough. I had a way better pizza in the area.

I came here with an old friend last week for a sit-down dinner in the back room and it was pretty good. I have to say I grew up around traditional Italian food and this place is definitely more American style (think chicken parm, pasta and meatballs, etc). So, it's definitely not my style. We split a caesar salad which was alright, and got meat ravioli with tomato sauce, and eggplant parm. I'd say it's average/good for American style Italian food, but nothing special. Be warned there is no pizza on the dining menu!!! Giving this place the benefit of the doubt because our waitress was great, the food was super cheap (dishes around $10), and the wine was also! I wouldn't come back to sit down unless I was in the mood for this style of Italian, but will definitely be back for a slice of pizza since that is what they're known for as I could see by the crowd we had to wade through of people waiting for a slice on our way out (around 11 pm on a weeknight).

Pizza at Dani's is quintessential Queens pizza. It's not traditional Italian pizza, it's thicker, the generous sauce is sweet and the cheese and toppings are big. They are open late and serve slices. They have a tremendous beer selection and chilled red carafes! The dining room serves good basic Queens Style Italian food. We like the parm, baked pastas, garlic bread and split a Cesaer salad. The canoli's are fresh. The service is always well meaning, we personally get great service. But they can be really busy. It's makes a fine date night dinner after the Kew Gardens Cinema.

I have only had their pizza, but Dani's makes ones of the best slices I have ever had! Great sauce, generous on the cheese, and always fresh! I have only had their plain pizza, there really is no need to add anything. I have been going there for years, and even though I don't live close anymore, I have to stop in for a slice whenever I am in town. Be prepared that there is not much seating for pizza, it is more of an in and out spot with some counter seating. They can get busy, so when ordering a full pie there will usually be a wait.

I have never been so disappointed in this pizza joint. I went in to grab a slice of pizza before getting on the train and was completely ignored for almost 15 minutes. I was literally standing right in front of the counter waiting patiently in line and the guy behind the counter looked at us numerous times but completely ignored us. Now my day that was supposed have a great start with a piece of pizza has now been ruined. Thanks rude guy behind the counter.

As a born, raised, and for-life New York pizza monster, I must admit that Dani's might truly be the best in Queens. Between them and New Park they're among the top. Dani's sauce is sweet magic and if you don't try the pesto you're missing out on something special. It's far from rare to see people on Friday or Saturday lined up until 3 AM. It pains me not to give them the full five stars, because of, unfortunately, their cold and inhospitable manner of service: I've been going to Dani's for almost a decade and have yet to feel a sense of customer warmth. I guess, to be fair, their pizza has such a loyal fan base that they don't really need to care. I will forever continue to devour and praise Dani's as some of the best pizza you'll eat, but await the day I feel welcomed by their staff.

This is supposed to be the best pizza in Kew Gardens and it's pretty popular. At 10pm on a Sunday night, the line was out the door! It's a small place, the pizzeria side with only about 7 seats at a counter. There's a restaurant side with better food maybe. The pizza, which a lot of people on yelp claim to be the best pizza they've had in NYC. I'm sorry, but if you think this is the best pizza you've ever had, I kind of feel bad for you. The slices here are very special actually. The sauce is so sweet, that it felt like I was eating dessert or something. The aftertaste was hard to deal with. The crust is thin and the slices are big. But the sauce is way too sweet. It's gross. The pesto slice, which is pretty popular here too, was okay. It was at least not sweet. Good things are that they have a fridge filled with beer- at least 60 kinds and they open really late!

Hands down, Dani's is where you can get an absolute perfect slice of pizza and wash it down with one of the best bottled beer selections anywhere. It's small, it's tight, and it can be frustrating waiting to get your slice and eventually finding a spot to eat it...but when you do finally get that hot, cheesy, goodness that is Dani's pizza, all your worldly troubles seem to disappear for a split second. A plain slice at Dani's runs about $2.50, but what's a few extra shekels for some of the best pizza around? One slice from Dani's is the equivalent of 2 from one of those $.99 slice joints you find in Manhattan. You know you're getting good quality cheese, dough, and Dani's signature "sweet" sauce, which can't be said for the cheaper (and inferior) competition. A plain slice is a winner, but try the pesto slice, it's delicious and a nice alternative to the usual. In addition to the pizza, the beer selection at Dani's is better than some bars I've been to on either coast and points in between; at any given time, you have 20-30 (great) bottled beers to choose from and at dirt cheap prices! The staff are great about making recommendations, and on one particular visit, my wife didn't like the beer she chose and had it replaced for free. I'm lucky to have grown up with Dani's and it hits the spot when I'm in the mood for as close to a perfect slice of NYC pizza as there is. No fancy brick ovens or any gimmicks here, just a great neighborhood pizza place that is consistent and will leave you satisfied.

Sauce on plain slices is sweet, in an almost too sweet way. But the pesto slice gets 5 stars. I call in my order ahead of time and just pick it up. The order counter/eating area is literally a hole in the wall off of Lefferts Blvd in Queens and lines can get lengthly. When I am in Queens for work or traveling late night to the city I love love love that this place is open until 4 AM on weekends and I think 1 or 2 AM on weekdays. Not even in the city can you get such an awesome QUALITY slice on a tuesday night at 1 AM, so that makes me HAPPY.

I can't stop dreaming about this pizza. It's literally the best plain pizza I've had in my life. Why don't you deliver Dani? WHY? I'm really really bummed that I can't eat this pizza every night. The crust is perfect, the sauce is sweet, the cheese is gooey. It's perfection in my mouth.

this was the first pit stop to my trip to NYC! came here for a quick bite and a drink and ended up staying for quite some time! the pesto pizza was delicious and the beer selection was more than I definitely expected! definitely will be returning here when I come back to NY!

Came in on a Sunday late evening. It wasn't that crowded yet. We got seated downstairs then realized we couldn't order pizza down their so we got apps and drinks in which the waiter told us "that wasn't enough food to sit down here but it's okay it's your first time" (because this is clearly a fancy restaurant) but whatever. He was sorta nice to us. So for my take on the pizza here goes. I didn't see what all the buzz was about its regular pizza you could get anywhere. I would go back if I had to but not make a trip for it.

Best NY style pizza in Queens, hands down. As a pizza fanatic, I've tried as many spots as possible and I'd have to say this is it. I found the unicorn of NY style pizza. I've tried them all, and I'd have to say this place has their sauce to a perfection. It's like a tomato bursting with flavor crystals sprinkled with crack and a touch of cocaine with every bite. It's got the sweet, it's got the heat, it's got the right amount of cheese from some cows teat. If you want the full umami flavors to the fullest, you have to eat the slice there when it's fresh out the oven. That's the only way to eat any slice. The moment you take it to go, and close that box on that succulent carby disk of heaven, you've destroyed it's whole being by steaming it like a fart filled blanket with your gf under it....you dutch oven the pizza...don't ever dutch oven a pizza. The pesto slice is good, not great. It's different, kinda like humans, ones not better than the other...just...different. Wait time is a little crazy, definitely try to go off peak hours, and you may only wait 5-10 mins. If this review makes the lines even longer than I take it back...this place is terrible...do not go here! stay fat mother suckers

Are you serious?? Your going to come on Yelp to check a review on Dani's? What is the matter with you? Don't you know, this is New York City pizza..Dani's pizza will turn you into one spoiled slut...sweet sauce, cheese that is so tasty with that thin doh , speaking of which.. I never understood why other pizzerias OD with the doh, watering down their sauce and using plastic tasting cheese..anyone in the food business needs to understand that quality is everything..Dani's Pizza is a great example of good quality NY food. Yeah they take forever to make your Pizza but the quality is the reason. And if you live in Kew Gardens you better not eat domino's or any franchise pizza, you need help if you do. Singa's isnt bad though, but Dani's ;-) you stole my heart baby..

Every week I order Penne Alla Vodka. Every week I ask for extra sauce because they skimp on the sauce. One week they actually put the extra sauce, in the 6 weeks since then they have not. I guess it's time to give up because the pasta is dry and every time I try to get pesto pizza, they've just ran out and their plain slices are gross. The only pro about this place is that they're open until 4.

My wife and I go to Dani's quite often. We both love their pizza, also in their dining room I enjoy the Veal Parm.the lazagna while my wife loves the spagetti and meatballs. The prices and serving sizes are very good for both, you will not be disappointed with either.

Two recent visits irked me about this place. The $4 plate charge and the no pizza in the dining room rule. The pizza in the dining room rule I can understand if it was meted out with some reasonable discretion. The dining room is very small, so you can't have people taking up tables with $5 worth of pizza. But if I'm in a party of four and everybody else is ordering meals. I already ate at work, I don't want to sit and watch them eat with nothing in front of me. So what's the harm? I'm going to sit there anyway, and the table is already generating money. And the $4 plate (splitting) charge is just absurd. Same thing. No discretion. I'm there in a party of three. We had an appetizer, a carafe of overpriced box wine and two meals. When ordering we told waiter we were splitting a meal. The meal came on one plate placed in front of my g/f, and he never brought me a clean plate. I had to eat off my little bread plate. The check came, what's the $4? He said Plate Charge. I said BUT YOU NEVER BROUGHT ME THE PLATE!. Sorry, $4 splitting charge is clearly on the menu. You hear of some better restaurants(not many, none that I've been to) get a plate charge when they are going to split the meal in half, serve it on separate plates, and include an extra salad, potato or veggie. But this is just a local pizza dive with mediocre food. AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET THE EFFIN' PLATE! The pizza counter is another indifferent atmosphere. They ignore you. Plus they're selling plain pizza by the slice, they know it's a CONSTANT flow of people. How do you run out of pizza, that I have to stand around for ten minutes waiting for scalding pizza to come out of the oven? Take a tip from the dollar pizza joints in Manhattan. They have 25 waiting pizzas lined up in the rack. They NEVER run out. It's a high volume place on cruise control, and nobody cares or seems to appreciate the business. I used to eat meals there with my family or order take out at least once a week. Plus all the pizza I ate walking by with my dog. I go to Paul Micheal's now or drive to Gino's or New Park in Howard Beach. Better food, better service, owners on-site. Better all around in the long run.

Dani's probably has my favorite pizza in the general area next to Nick's. We practically lived here from 2004-2008, but I got tired of the crowds of drones who have nothing better to do on any given night. The place is small and not really conducive to 20 people waiting in line for the smallish dining room. Annoying people aside, the food is very good, and like I said I love the pizza. The real highlight of this place is Jessica in the dining room. She makes every visit an absolute pleasure once you're in and seated. But once again, you know I don't do lines and crowds, and the popularity of this place got to be too much for me, which is why you'll usually find us at Acquista Trattoria. But I'm still happy to pop in to Dani's from time to time and pick up a pie to go.

Absolutely the best pizza! I lived in NY for many years and Dani's was always the best. Whenever I go back to NY I always make this my first stop. To the guy who said Dani's is next to a cemetery, time to pay attention, it sits above the LIRR tracks with a building on one side and a street on the other two sides. Next, for those who say "the sauce is too sweet", please don't eat there anymore, you wouldn't know good food anyway. In fact you should just go to an Arby's or McD's where you belong.

I've tasted the regular slice, sicilian slice, and pesto slice. All of them are fantastic! Like others have said, the sauce used in the regular slice and sicilian slice is sweet. I enjoyed all the different slices. My friend did not like them at all. She prefers non-sweet (regular salt taste) pizza. I liked the sicilian slice more than the regular slice. It has a more sweeter taste to it. With the soft bread, the sicilian was like a dessert. The tomato sauce is not sweet like candy, just expect it to be on the sweeter side than plain tomato sauce. The pesto slice has a buttery taste to it. When the slice was hot, I could really taste it. As the pesto slice cooled down, the buttery taste was not as overwhelming and the pesto slice was so delicious. If you haven't tried sweet pizza before or a pesto slice, and you're in the neighborhood, try Dani's Pizza! You might just love it as much as I do. I have only tried Dani's pizzas. I have not tried their restaurant dishes. If you're ordering pizza, expect to take it to go. There's only about 4-5 bar seats that sit you very close to the employees. If you sit there, you might be expected to talk to the employees.

Dani's House of Pizza in Kew Gardens is like a 100 year old establishment.... I am a huge fan of the pesto slice, as i have never seen one before....As for the regular slice, they give you a huge slice, but the sauce is sweet.... As a person who has had real pizza in Italy, this American version with sweet sauce is killing me.....there are only a few place that have proper sauce.....this is not one of them.... Their eggplant rollatini is probably the best in Queens.....great flavor and you can actually taste the eggplant....which means freshness...... The fact that they serve beer is awesome....nothing like a slice and a cold Rolling Rock....

One of my favorite pizza places in New York, this family-owned business has been a staple in Kew Garden for many years now. Their marinara sauce is on the sweet side so people either love it or hate it; I more than love it. I prefer my slices plain here but like every place you can get whatever toppings added you want. They also make a really good pesto slice. A side note that new people may not know about - there is a 4 slice per person limit so if you want more you'll have to order a pie (the pies are a different size than the one they serve you from by the slice so it taste a bit different IMO due to the different dough-sauce-cheese ratio). The restaurant is small but for a tiny place they offer a huge selection of bottled beers that rotate out as the seasons change - there's about 30-40 at any given time to choose from. Pizza customers are limited to standing room and a few stools by the counter. There is also a dining room section that offers a full menu but pizza is not allowed in there (and for all the years I've been eating here I've yet to try the other food so this review is just for the pizza and beer). Do not try to park in front of the place to grab a quick slice, meter-maids know what's up and this place is a gold mine for them. Send your friends in to grab your food if you can't get parking.

Well... i would give this place below 1 if i can thanks to the workers here. Dont get me wrong, the pizza is A+but.. The people who serve you pizza are very rude. If you're a girl they'll serve you like a president. If you're a guy... well lets just say bring your own food to this place. Every time i came in, Not once have they served me. Even after 30 min of standing there, no one asked what i would like. All of a sudden a cute girl comes in, I swear when i say this, all 3 people who work there ran to serve her, and thanks to her, she said "i think he was here before me", and take a wild guess what they did? get ready to laugh.. they told her "no no you first pretty lady, what would you like?" Very professional. They are just money hungry. They won't even care if you're choking in the place. Im not kidding.. they honestly wouldn't care. They'll just look at you and serve the next customer. And no it isn't the fact that i had bad experiences here, Every single one of my friends had the exact same experience here as i did. Unless you show them attitude, they will not serve a guy before a girl unless they come in as a couple. So at the end, if you want to eat a very good pizza but have a very stressful time getting it, this is the spot to go.

Love this place. You may hate the people that work there, you may think its too small, you may hate the idea that you cannot eat pizza on their side restaurant but their pizza makes up for all their flaws. I tried to stay away from this place because I could eat their pizza every single day. Writing this review just made me hungry...

I will not be so critical on this review for Dani's service because it needs work. But I really like their pizza so I will give it 4 stars for a good pizza. So here's my experience with Dani's: Did I just really pay $10.00 and some change for a Duvel and a slice? The Duvel is like normal bar prices $8, yeah you can get it for $3-$4 at a specialty market but sometimes beer taste better at establishments. Usually a full pie from a pizzeria taste better than a slice. For some reason I thought the single slice was better than the whole pie we ordered last time. I thought nothing of the pizza last time as we ate from pies but this time, as I ordered the single slice I became aware of how tasty it is. The dough is crisp with a slight char on the bottom and depending on the slice, the edge has a airy bubble in it. The dough has a good flavor, of fresh baked to it. The sauce is ample, sweet and has an oregano note to it. The cheese gooey, oozes, is stringy and isn't stale at all. Piping hot from the oven, I think the pizza is above average quality. I like it, great pizza. On a busy night, this place gets crowded to a point where you have to nudge and say excuse me to get through to order, all 6 stools (only seating available for pizza) at the counter will be full and people will be waiting on the cramp aisle either waiting for their order or to place an order and both takes 15-20 minutes. You better take the initiative to gets someone's attention on these nights and even then you'll get ignored until they look at you. Ah, on a slow Sunday afternoon, I walk in ask for a slice as a quick bite while waiting for a friend. -Mi primo- (in Spanish) looked at me and looked back down at what he was doing, lmao, I never got my slice but he heard and saw me. I go and sit at a stool and wait 10 minutes before another older gentleman asked what I would like with barely anyone there, maybe 3 customers. But they are nice guys. Maybe they get -alot- of phone orders or something to get this busy? It's definitely not due to in-house orders. Anyway, there's a nice comfortable separate restaurant. And with about 30+ different beers ranging from your regular Heineken to Hoegaarden, Bitburger, Delirium Tremens, Pilsner, Allagash, Dogfish, Young's, Yueling... Wine: Folonari and Concannon and Coffee.

The worst Penne a la Vodka I ever had. It had hardly any sauce, was very dry, and tasted old. What a waste of money. They do have great pizza but do not get the Penne Vodka.

The staff is incompetent. I went here after hearing there pizza was amazing and was ignored by the staff for about a good 20minutes before they finally took our order and dismissed us rudely. I'm an easy customer so I didn't think twice about it until I ate their pizza. Their pizza is so damn sweet it's like eating candy shaped into a pizza. It's their sauce that explodes with sugar in your mouth and I just cannot eat food that is like candy. Now I just order pizza from Dominoes or Richmond Hill.

I love the sweet sauce and the fresh slices, the pesto sauce is also very good! The service has been pretty poor lately. I too was ignored for an extensive period of time, while the guys behind the counter carried on speaking in spanish. This is about the 3rd time I walked out after being ignored like this, it's a shame because the food is great but the staff is driving loyal customers away.

Solid 4 stars! Great restaurant to go to after seeing an artsy flick at the Kew Gardens Movie Theater, but since the service is a bit slow don't go before a movie. They are not in a rush, and we weren't either, so it was perfect for us. The dining room is cozy and seats only 22 people, and prices are very reasonable, so be prepared for a pleasant wait. There is a small counter in the pizza area for a quick bite. I had shrimp parmigiana, with a sweet sauce and crunchy fried shrimp, and my husband had chicken franchise which came with 5 pieces of chicken. More than ample serving that we enjoyed for lunch the next day. The bread had a firm crust and very soft warm interior. Choice of pasta or salad with an entree.

The BEST pizza in all of New York! Thankfully I live in the area, because I get to have it one day a week! It's all about the PESTO!

Great Pizza in the middle of Kew Gardens. Although this is not the place where your gonna get two or more slices because their slices a literally HUGE. At night the lines are so long they go out the door! Also very convienent to the LIRR at Kew Gdns

  • Emily S.

Best pizza in NYC hands down. If you're willing to wait, $16 will get you the most incredible pizza you've ever had. I've also has the pesto pizza on occasion which is incredible in itself. My only qualm is that there is only one location!!

Excellent pizza, ridiculously cheap and delicious standard Italian fare. Old school. Awesome.

  • Margot S.

Pesto Pizza is insane. So good. With Mushrooms...even better. Just wish they would actually make my pizza when I call it in...instead of forgetting and making it on the spot when I arrive

Great pizza. The sauce is a little sweet and I love it. Gives a very distinctive flavor. Best pizza in Queens. Food in the restaurant side, not so great. Lasagna was given to me without any noodles in it, just hunks of cheese. And I will repeat this over and over, the workers need to wear gloves especially when handling money than good than money than food!!!!

I tried the sit down dining side of the establishment and I must say that Dani's is consistent: the service was still terrible, just like the pizza counter. When we walked in the waitress let us choose our own table. She came back about 2 minutes later with a curt "You ready?". (We weren't.) She walked away without saying anything else. Our table had two place settings, both with forks with bent tongs. I grabbed place settings from the table next to us and they also were bent. Classy place. There are only 8 tables here (at the most) so either all of the silverware is extremely old and in need of replacement or the waitress who set the tables just doesn't care and doesn't pay attention the tables she sets up. The waitress came back and took our order with no issues. Bread and our appetizer was brought out. We got halfway through the bread and 6 mozzarella sticks before she shows up with our entrees. If we knew the service would be so fast, then we would not have ordered the appetizers... The food itself (penne ala vodka) was ok. Not bad. Not great. However the waitress was one of the low points of the meal. She is dressed in a super tight T-Shirt and tight pants that are not really meant for someone her age. She is extremely uninterested and curt with customers - A couple walked in and she directed them to a table. When they asked if they could have a different table she said nothing and she turned around dismissively and went back to working on the POS system. So sorry to bother you...we thought you worked here! The waitress continued with the stellar service and proceed to drop the bill folio with our change from about a foot and a half high onto the table and walked away without a cursory "Have a good night/Thank you/etc". She just dropped the mic and walked off stage. I wanted to leave no tip after this. My girlfriend felt guilty and left $1 initially, but relented and left $4 on a ~$25 bill. I believe that was very generous for the (lack of) service we received. Also there was a fly buzzing all around us the entire time. It is already almost November and there are no flies on the street (all dead due to the cold temps) so obviously they have made a nice home for themselves at Dani's. FYI they are still handling pizza slices and cash without gloves. I've also noticed that when you get any drink with ice the same guy with the cash/pizza hands will helpfully grab your paper cup or glass and just dip it into an ice box behind the counter. There is no ice scoop or spoon to keep the ice sanitary. They just dip the cup that they touch with their cash and pizza hands into the ice that will go into your drinks. Efficient and time saving. Bon appetit!

Gotta love these slices at 2am always fresh & always tasty. At times the line can get long, but when you need a quick slice after a bar night this is definitely the spot

Mildly sweet sauce- the cheese slices are amazing. I'm definitely a regular. Service is okay- i'm always having to wait to remind the server that I need still need to pay for my food...but it's because they're quite a popular place. GREAT beer selection!

Best pizza this part of queens has to offer. Truly a New York classic slice of good old fashion pizza

Rude and inattentive staff behind the counter on the pizza side. I walked in and stood there while one of the pizza guys had a conversation completely ignoring me even though I was standing right in front of him. I finally interject into his completely non-business related conversation and ask if I could order a pizza to do. He finally makes eye contact and looks smugly and annoyed at me as if I had asked for something ridiculous and says, "what do you want," in a very condescending way. I'm thinking to myself, this is a pizza place, so I guess I want a pizza and I already said I wanted to order a pizza to go. Duh! After finally getting the pizza after what seemed like an eternity, it wasn't even very good. I don't know what other people taste in this place, but this doesn't even come close to being 'the best pizza.' The sauce is way too sweet. Also, skimpy on the toppings. Won't be back.

  • Kerry J.

I came here with my friend who grew up in the area and has been coming here since she was a kid. This place did not disappoint -- I know why my friend has been coming here for 20+ years! The slices are huge and their sauce has a faint sweetness that makes me wish I had ordered a side of sauce to dip the crust in. I had planned on ordering a pesto slice, but just couldn't tear myself away from the regular sauce. Seating is a bit weird here -- they have a sit down restaurant in one area, but you can't order pizza in there (only kids can). Then they have counter service and a very small counter you can sit at. It's really busy in the counter area so you have to just stand around and wait for a seat to open up if you want to eat pizza there, but definitely worth waiting for.

  • Simone' B.

If you love pizza then you have to eat at Dani's! This place is my weakness. When I'm hungry and need something fast I come here, when I fly into New York returning from somewhere I come straight here before going home, when family or friends come to visit I bring them here, when I'm in a bad mood and need comfort food I eat here.... I really love Dani's pizza. However, my thighs do not. It's just always so yummie and fresh. The atmosphere is casual with always a little bit excitement. The service is really good too!

  • David B.

My favorite pizza in all the land. I hated living in Kew Gardens--but this place made it worth it! Pesto slice or regular is all you need!

    (5)
  • Samuel A.

I love this place! The place is very small they have a great selection of beer. The one reason to come here though is the pesto slice. My friend was iffy about it however, after he had a taste of the pesto he fell in love. I gotta say the regular pizza with the sweet sauce its a weird combination, I personally don't like it. If you come here get the pesto you will not regret it.

  • Yanel B.

Excellent pizza and excellent pasta dishes. They could have gotten a five but they take long to take your order like if your invisible standing there at the pizza counter. They had for there anniversary 75 cents for a pizza and the line was 3 blocks long.... def worth it

Pizza is is so good , not oily and the sause is sweet. Only problem is the small cramped area where the pizza is

Love Love Love Dani's pizza. Good at 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning. The staff is always so friendly and amicable. I think the best part is that I get to enjoy a slice of pizza with a good beer. A big two thumbs up!

    (5)
  • Lovely R.

Their pizza is to-die-for! Hands down best pizza in NY! Plus they always have an assortment of good bottled beers to choose from. The restaurant is good as well, but I normally just stop into the pizzeria. Just wish they delivered!!!

We moved from Kew Gardens to Forest Hills and all I miss from that terrible, weird, bizarre neighborhood is Dani's.. Oh Dani's was always there for me.. til 4am even. No matter how awful my neighbors were or overpriced all the strange shops are in that neighborhood, Dani's was never changing, always delicious and even though the pizza guys were never that friendly, I never minded. For that Dani's... I salute you.

    (5)
  • V F.

Simply amazing pizza--hands down one of the best in NYC! I just wish they delivered and you could order slices in the restaurant area. Even making the trek and sitting in the crowded and cramped parlor area is well worth it for a slice at Dani's.

    (5)
  • Stephanie M.

In my humble opinion, Dani's is one of the best places to get pizza in NYC. The sauce is sweet, the cheese is plentiful, the crust is never burnt or too doughy, these guys know what they're doing! Since they're open late, Dani's is the perfect drunk food, and on Wednesday a slice is only $1.50 and a large pie $10. Pure perfection!

    (5)
  • Kartik N.

Great pizza, great service and open (nearly) all night long. Don't worry about stopping right up front. This place is extremely cop friendly, nobody will ticket you for double parking. Although their pizza is fantastic (especially their pesto slice), they have a great dining room for cozy intimate dinner for 2. Try their Green fettuccine chicken w/ pink sauce. Did I mention they have a great selection of bottled beer!?

    (5)
  • James K.

very good slice of pizza!! It might just be a hole in the wall but out comes one of the best pizzas around. The pizzas have a nice balance of cheese and tomato. If you're around the way its def the way to go.

  • Nataly F.

I've been eating here for years and have always been won over by the sauce in their pizza. Def the best i've ever had. Though my only complain is i wish their crust was a bit more crispier but overall the sauce makes up for it, at least it does for my palate. And you also can't beat their wednesday special which includes $1.25 a slice, though it use to be $1, but still cheap.

    (3)

Best ever anyone who doesn't love it is unamerican. Lol no really its the best pizza in the world

Dani's is the bomb! Order Dani's special pizza! Bacon and broccoli on THE SAME PIZZA! omg, i would give it 5 stars but i definitely have to go hit the bathroom.

  • Laura R.

i LOVE their pizza! Their sauce is unique- a bit sweet, but i love it so much. They have cheap slices/pies on Wednesday and are always open until 3am. Their menu is pretty good too and really affordable. They have an amazing beer selection. I highly recommend!

    (5)
  • Natasha D.

Open until 4am and they have a fantastic Pesto Pizza. It took me a while before I could call myself a fan of Dani's, only because I thought the sauce was a little on the sweet side. So many memories....

  • Jules M.

Soooo if you are searching for a great Za spot, you found it!!!! Dani's pizza is the best!!! Yes the first time I ate a slice, I thought it was a bit weird that the sauce was sweet, but after a couple of bites it grows on ya. The thin slices are always fresh as they bake their pizza about every 5 min!! If you ever make it there in the summer, you will see the huge line outside!!! And yes, it's worth the wait!!!! I live in the neighborhood and never had the opportunity to sit down and eat, I always take it to go. The service is good, at times can be very busy, but be patient, they are just trying to service a million people at once! Please go there if you are craving some amazing thin crust!

    (5)
  • Jay T.

Huge slices with a sweet tomato sauce. They are usually good. Price for a slice went up to $2.25 ($1.75 on Wednesdays), so not too expensive yet. However, service is nonexistent and you may end up getting irritated whenever you attempt to get a slice. Oh well. Can't find it in me to boycott the place yet.

    (3)
  • s c.

The pizza is excellent but the staff are incredibly rude. If you order a pie make sure it's has a special topping otherwise it gets given away to one of their "muchachos" who walk in for a few slices...trust me.

    (3)
  • Arnel G.

This is my neighborhood pizza joint. It's definitely not the best pizza in the world but it's OK if you have the case of the munchies. Sauce they use is on the sweet side not that tangy tomato taste I favor. The service hear is pretty lame the workers here are on the rude side & they mess up on your order alot. They also don't deliver and you have to wait like 20 minutes to get your pie. Best bet is just to get a table.

Have I really never reviewed this place? I am slacking! For the past 5 or so years I've been eating here at least once every couple of weeks. I love their slices. Oversized, inexpensive, and addictive. The sauce is sweeter than I was used to at first, but now I find that I prefer it. I don't care for their Sicilian pies, but the pesto pizza is also awesome. I've seen the counter staff ignore people waiting for slices a million times, yet I've never had trouble getting promptly served. There's no rhyme or reason as far as I can tell, except if you're a rude mofo, you will wait. :) As far as the sit down dining area in back goes, we eat there all the time. It's familiar, comfy, and I like the waitstaff. Every once in a while we get the wrong food and sometimes it's busy and it's hard to flag someone down if there's something you need, but there's only one waitress usually and they keep her running. The food is okay. Nothing truly special, but I crave it frequently. My favorite thing to order is the penne alla vodka. Either it's drugged, or it's in that perfect "like homemade" zone which makes it comfort food. Best thing about this place by far is the beer selection. They have a MUCH better selection of microbrews here than the local "Ale House", which is funny to me. The first thing I do when I walk in, before I go in back to sit for dinner, is check out the new ales...and they are always changing. Yay!

  • Sheridan C.

For a fast-food, quick bite pizza, it's not bad at all. It's cheaper than most places, and the slices are fairly large portioned. I can eat one and it would keep my satiated instead of needing to order two slices elsewhere. The guys behind the counter when I have been there were fast and efficient. I've ever sat at the counter before with my fiancee. I love their selection of beers, but have yet to drink any of them. They now have whole wheat too, I believe. The sauce is sweet, I like it. Others may not. I eat here because it is convenient on a late night after partying, or just when I need a quick bite before an interview or going out to the city for a meal i know will be horrible. It's a pizza joint guys, it can't be that messed up. You don't come here and expect Lombardi's or Patsy's.

We were very excited to try this pizza after we saw a long line outside on a Friday night and a plaque declaring it as the "Best Pizza in Queens" by some publication. IT WASN'T! We asked for a mushroom pizza, and though it was slathered in them, one would usually put more cheese on top of the toppings to help them stick to the pizza. This place didn't, and so all of the mushrooms (which also came straight out of the can) fell off the second we lifted up the pizza. A very disappointing experience. The one star is actually for the fact that the actual pizza was ok. Would probably never go back. Too bad...

The service has become noticeably better recently. They may be reading these reviews. Eating their pizza as I write this....

  • Stephanie G.

Dani's is my go to spot for a slice and I eat here at least once a week. Some say the sauce is too sweet, but not for me. No pizza in the dining room so I end up eating at the counter so I can have an entree with a pizza appetizer. Although the dining room is nice, it's not nice enough to give up a slice. They also serve a pesto slice - which is a little too pesto-y for me. But with red sauce on top it's just right. My husband and I go for: mozzarella sticks, meatball heros, shrimp parm, and we just tried the veal pizziola which was great. JUST ADDED: great eggplant parm! great late night spot, serving slices till 4 am, and no pizza joint has a better beer selection.

    (5)
  • Dan H.

I'll keep it simple. I've only had pizza here. They have a full dining area, which I've heard is good. The slices are delicious. The sauce is on the sweet side, which is rare, but I think that's what I like so much. They stay open LATE for pizza (4am?) and they have great selection of bottled beer (44 and counting?) Beers range from domestic, to imports, to some lesser known imports and micro-brew. The only downside is the pizza eating area is tiny, but it's sooo worth it!

  • Lana K.

the pizza is ok but i love the restaurant part! best baked ziti ever! and the prices are verrryyyyy reasonable! I always come with my hubby, we get the half carafe of house wine ($8!), yes, you read that right...we split a caesar's salad, i get the baked ziti obvs and he gets an entree...an hour later, both veryyy full and satisfied, we have 2 packages of leftovers ready to take home for lunch the next day and the bill comes to about $30! feels homey and cozy too...great for friday and sunday nights :) i just came back from there :-P

A neighborhood institution since 1959 and still going strong. I started frequenting here in 1980. A great place for a regular cheese slice ($2.00) and a beer (Rolling Rock $4.00). They are open until 4:00am on the weekends, so when you're crawling home from the pub, you can grab a slice and another beer. I've actually staggered in here later than 4:00am and was able to get a slice or two. If you sit at the six stool counter, be sure to tip. It's only right. They have a 12 table dining room in the rear which has a very nice, comfy atmosphere. A cozy place to have a good, casual, hearty yet simple Italian meal. It's convenient for dinner before a show since it's just down the block from the Kew Gardens Cinema and around the corner from the westbound LIRR (A twenty minute ride to Madison Square Garden). A sit down dinner for two, with an appetizer, drinks and dessert, plus tip, should run you around $50.00.

RETRO-REVIEW!!!!! Back in the day, this was Albanian family owned and operated with a French lady waitressing in the dining room. I think they had only 12 types of beer then and served jug Gallo wine! LOL! Fantastic NY/southern Italian staples, great shrimp and veal Parmesan garlic bread, and prices. The pizza was the best, rivaling Angelo's on Main Street and near Jewel Ave (long gone). Then came the $6 pizzas on Wednesdays with the 2-3 guys working the front. Now it's still good but a mere facsimile of the Dani's of the 80's-90's. I believe the sauce is almost the same, but the real Dani's flair has seen better days. Still a notch better than most NY style pizza in this part of Queens(try the Grandma slices at Alba's).

    (3)
  • Jonathan D.

My favorite slice in Queens. Dani's has surpassed New Park Pizza in my opinion. They have a similar type of pizza to New Park. I just feel the quality has dipped a bit over the years over in Howard Beach. Dani's on the other hand has remained tried and true. I love that sweet sauce.

Not for nothin' this is some of the best pizza you will get in NYC. I started going to this restaurant over 35 yrs. ago and it's still bangin'. Although I currently live in Atlanta I don't eat pizza until I get back to NYC and when I do get there I make it my business to go to Dani's House of Pizza. P.S. The baked clams and the baked ziti are also very, very, good!!!

HUGE slice - open late. So good I ate four slices (probably equivalent to a small pie at most places). They even serve craft beers. Love this place.

Let me start by saying this review may be slightly biased, because this is my absolute favorite pizza place. I have been raving about it to people for years, and continue to bring out-of-towners and locals who have yet to discover it. Having been there all hours of the day and night, I can attest to the fact that they are open late most days of the week (I think they close early on Sundays, and early is midnight or something, so still very much acceptable), and has saved me on many a 2 a.m. need-greasy-food-in-stomach-after-heavy-drinking occassion. The sauce is my favorite, it's sweet and with a little garlic powder sprinkled on top to really bring out the sweetness... mmm, I'm having a major craving just thinking about it. My one complaint is that I tend to like my pizza on the saucier side, and lately, they have been much more cheesy. And cheesy = bubbly = brown spots. I am slightly anal about those brown spots. I know, I know, melted cheesy goodness blah blah blah, I've heard it all. It's just a visual thing for me. Can't do it. So my pizza slice ends up looking rather Swiss cheese-ish by the time I'm down - but the point is, it's just that good, that I would pick around the spots I don't like. Did I mention the slices are huge? Which kind of makes me only a little ashamed to see that this is the only pizza I have no problem eating (almost) 2 slices of. Again - that damn good. Go. Now.

  • Kaity Kariza Y.

This small little pizzeria makes great slices, but I'm an even bigger fan of the pasta (the rigatoni to be exact), because of their fantastic sauce. I personally prefer sitting in the front bar area while i munch on my pasta, but most pizza-people grab a slice and stand out in front. Not a place i necessarily go out of the way to get to, but always a stop while in the area. Open late night and great for drunken munchies. Grab a slice and a beer...

    (4)
  • Stephanie B.

This place is priceless. Just the fact that they stay open till 3am is enough for me. The pizza is by far the best pizza I have ever tasted. And the slices are huge. Fun environment.

Freaking awesome little dive. Great place to grab a beer and a slice close to the LIR. Meals are ok - not bad, but much better for grabbing pizza on the go. The sauce is slightly sweet and utterly fabulous.

You know this place is good when people park their cars in the No Standing Anytime narrow avenue, especially when the police drive by and ticket anyone! Growing up in this neighborhood, I may be a little biased but it is without a doubt one of the best pizza places I have been to. What really makes this place is the sauce- it is sweet yet thick and savory, it almost makes you forget about the cheese. Not too thin and greasy, but satisfying. Best of all their prices were always below the marginal price for a slice which runs around $2.25 in New York City these days. They're still at $1.75 the last time I went. Dani's has a classic old brick oven-styled pizza house feel to it, which makes the place even more enticing. See most places you'd want to get a slice and go, but I found myself sitting in chatting with my buddy comfortably on their stools because you just feel great being inside- although it may be difficult to find a seat sometimes and the area isn't too spacious. They also have a diner next to the pizza section which is walled off and accessed by a door, but it's still part of Dani's. When you sit inside it feels like you're in Italy because of the narrow, slanted streets around you. If you're a pizza fanatic you should definitely go. If not, you should still go. The neighborhood is small and warm, and the pizza is great for an even better price.

I grew up with a bunch of wise guys in the Lower East Side and I beat them up cause they were nerds (get it: wiseguys=nerds)? Anyway, I've eatne some great pizza in the LES. However, this place has AWESOME pizza!!! Damn it's so good and tasty. Reminded me a bit of Difara's in Brooklyn......but better! Love this pizza so much, I'm trying get the pizza/human marriage equality rights bill passed. The only stupid thing is that you can't get a freaken slice of pizza in the dining room? "What's up with dat?" ---In my best Asian dude from the Hangover voice.

    (5)
  • Joshua G.

This place is a real find. The pizza is spectacular--and not that brick oven hipster pizza that tastes like you're eating cheese on a burnt cracker. This is the classic, greasy, New York, limp pizza--but done in the best way possible. I only wish they served pizza in the main dining room. Since they don't, I was relegated to the counter because I wanted to order pizza. But this is a small point. I'll be happy to go back and try their other food for the privilege of table service.

  • Franchesca R.

Dani's pizza is pretty tasty. It's also awesome that they're open really late. The only downside? The guys that work the take out window are total jerks. Many times they completely ignore you while you're trying to order. If it weren't for the pizza, I'd never order from Dani's because the service is pretty awful* *I've only used the take our window, I've never eaten in the dining room.

While reminiscing of childhood friendships, this old haunt popped back into my head for the first time in years. I wouldn't call the pizza at Dani's great, and most of the time the staff made it seem like they were doing us a favor by serving us, yet my friends and I came back almost religiously (maybe it was their pizza, maybe because we were always waiting at the LIRR to meet or depart with random friends in our group, and no matter when we happened to be skulking around in the night, they always seemed to be open). As others have said, their pizza is sweet. The dough has a slightly sweet taste to it, and the sauce is even sweeter. I know that doesn't sound like what a proper slice of pizza should taste like, yet I always enjoyed it, sometimes dragging my friends in there. Now that Dani's is fresh on my mind, and other yelpers seem to imply their pizza hasn't changed, they're definitely on my short list of places to check out and update my view on.

  • Hamster M.

The pizza was verrry sweet. Took a few bites to get use to but, it was enjoyable. A bit on the pricey side. I think it was the horrific service they have there that made me not want to come back what so ever. I don't mind the tiny crowded area to wait too much, but it was the guy behind the counter who barely spoke English. Took him forever to take my money as he kept going on to the next customer. I asked for a large soda and he starts filling a small soda. I had to ask him twice for large until he said , oh no large, small only. The pizza is tasty if you like SWEET, the service is a joke, and the atmosphere is unique.

Had the urge for great NYC pizza one night, this wasn't even mediocre. Really disappointed in it. At least it's cheap and open late - otherwise would've been 1 star.

if you see a line, its probably worth it to check the place out. That was how we stumbled on Dani's. a great (big) slice of pizza indeed. The sauce is sweet and delicious, the pesto slice is great as well. If you are in the mood to sit and eat your slice, if there's room. try a beer from their wide and eclectic selection. Wednesdays, they have rollback prices and a slice is ~$1 or ~1.50

Pizza is pretty good, I have to admit. Though I do find the sauce a little on the sweet side. But honestly, the service is just horrendous. We will stand there for way too long before anyone even acknowledges us, they'll take order of people who came in after us BEFORE taking ours, then we get attitude for asking for a bag/box for our pizza, when we are clearly taking it to go and they hand it to us on a paper plate. Incredibly rude. If they weren't right there when I'm drunk and getting off the LIRR, (or, if it weren't for the cheap Wednesday slices) I doubt I would ever go.

BEST PIZZA, CHICKEN PARM EVER!!! I come here with my family ALL the time. The food is fantastic & inexpensive. The service & decor is ok but who cares? For the price I rather have great food and ok service. Be prepared to wait a while if you go on the weekends, its usually very packed and its a tiny place. So worth the wait and your $$$

The first time I came I wasn't entirely thrilled with the slices. I found them a bit too sweet and the line and general chaos didn't help. However, as this is a pizzeria near me I continued to come more and more and the more I came the more I started appreciating the pizza. Things you should know. The slices are cheaper than any other slice in the city. On Wednesday's they're even cheaper. The sauce is sweet and there are times the cheese doesn't stay on the slice. Also, the crust isn't the best and can taste like cardboard. All this said, it's still an excellent pizza if you enjoy sweet sauce. Be prepared to wait on "line" during busy hours in a very cramped space. Oh, I almost forgot, they have a very extensive beer collection, perfect for a slice and a cold one on a hot summer night.

I haven't tried their dining but when I go to Dani's pizza, I would order their mushroom pizza or plan cheese pizza and its fucking awesome! This is the real New York pizza! Its thin and tasty so you wont get fat eating all those carbs which pizza has! Order it extra crispy and I swear, you won't regret this great New York Style pizza which everyone is missing out on! Domino's or Pizza Hut cannot compare to Dani's pizza!

Definitely a top-tier pizzeria. The pies that come out for slices are slightly oblong and giantess. And like a giant, they are somewhat malformed. No matter, giants are usually gentle creatures who will reward you with their warmth when you welcome them into your lives. It's an utterly sweet slice. Huge huge and cheap. Prices are $2 for a slice, $3 with a topping - and same as surface area, they do not skimp on the toppings at all. Something else remarkable is their beer selection. Better than 95 percent of the bars I've been into. The first time I've seen Young's Double Chocolate Stout served in a pizza parlor. You can take them into the dining room, but you cannot take slices. I wonder what a dinner is like here... This is a pizzeria with history, 50 years of it. Kew Gardens is lucky to have them. Dani's House of Pizza.

Whenever I have a craving for pizza, this is the first place I run to. The dining area is small, yet cozy. It has a very warm and relaxing atmosphere. It almost seems as if you're enjoying a delicious home cooked meal in your nona's own dining room :) The food is amazing!!!! Make sure you go there when you're insanely hungry because their portions can feed more than 2 people. Their robust sauce makes every meal to die for! If you get a chance, try the chicken parmigiana with penne a la vodka. Your palate will thank you!

The regular slice and the pesto slice are solid choices; the pesto pie goes for $19 and totally worth it. Sitting on the bar stools and eating a few hot slices with ice-cold root beer; golden!

Never get great service here...the Mexican guys can look dead in your face and ask the person next to you if they would like something...I've lived in Kew Gardens for the past 5 years and the service is terrible the three times I've been there!!!

I was in Chicago for a month last year and after four weeks of testing the gastronomic deep dish pizza waters, I began to long for a thin, chewy, New York slice. I came home and had Dani's everyday for two weeks. It's true that the sweet sauce is not to everyone's taste, and it's taken me a bit to come around on it also. Now I enjoy it, but when I first moved into the neighborhood I was definitely not a fan. Regardless of whether or not you like the special sauce, it can't be denied that the ingredients that are used here are solid. When I eat here, I feel that I am eating something wholesome and well-made. Dani's always seems to be open and my friends who stay overnight before flying out of JFK often request Dani's slices now, so that's a good sign. Another good sign is the line that tumbles out of the front door during lunch and dinner time. Dani's toppings are pretty no-frills and people that are interested in some of the more exotic incarnations of pizza like buffalo wings or Caesar salad, etc. will be disappointed. Me? I'm a purist at heart and can't quite conceive of why anyone would want to eat a salad on top of his pizza. But, to each his own. The pesto slice is definitely something to be tried. It's really quite delicious, but their Sicilian slices are dry and uninspired. Stick to the regular slice. I've had a plate of spaghetti here once too, and buyer beware, they use the same sweet sauce. One final amazing quirk of this place (and the thing that pushes it over into 4 star territory) is it's fantastic beer selection. I've discovered some new favorites. So, ultimately, Dani's is a pizzeria that has a lot of character. The pizza is unique and tastes that way. I'm glad Dani's is in the neighborhood and thriving.

I like the pumpkin ravioli which is not on the menu. It has a quaint atmosphere, and I've spent many a good night eating inside. I even liked the wait, the ambiguous line, who is next? and the mug shot of old blue eyes. The waitresses are busy, but efficient. They have a great beer selection and the wine is good. This was my place with my second wife. She would get chicken parm and we would split a salad. There's a great movie theater near by so dinner and a movie was a great date there. I later learned to eat the pizza at the counter, and enjoyed that. The pesto pizza is good, and you can have the same beers you drink inside.

Sit at the counter and get a great slice of pizza and a bottle of beer from their big selection. Wednesday used to be dollar slices, but now it's $1.75. The slices are huge, so $3.50 for a couple of slices is no big deal. I've been coming here for years. Pop in some time and try it for yourself.

Delicious pesto and regular slices to go. (I usually have to do some oil sopping up, but the crust is great and they are quite flavorful.) To stay, enjoy a HUGE beer selection (for a pizza place), including craft brews, and Belgians. I never ate in the small restaurant, but I always smell delicious pasta dishes going into the dining room.

I used to eat Dani's pizza when I was a little girl. Funny thing is, I didn't like it back then--I thought the sauce was too sweet. Fast forward 20 years later...I move back to Kew Gardens and I drive by. I stop and go in to grab a slice. The first mouthful...and I was 6 years old again. The pizza tastes exactly the same, with its perfectly thin, crispy crust and melty, slightly greasy cheese. Although I'm still not one for sweet sauce, I can now appreciate that this one has a depth of flavor that makes it delicious. I think it's oregano, or maybe it's just nostalgia. Whatever it is, I sprinkle some crushed red pepper on and it doesn't get any better!

This review is just for the pizza not the restaurant. Pizza crust has a good bite and (maybe too sweet) sauce but is pretty good. Get's a bit crowded sometimes but people go in an out quickly. Wednesdays are dollar slices and I think they have some other specials. Service is pizzeria friendly.

I love this place, it's very laid back and has the look and feel of a old-school pizzeria. In a city that prides itself on having some of the best pizza culture in the world, Dani's stands out for having pizza a little on the sweeter side. You either love it or hate it, and of course I love it. They have a cute dine in area separate from the pizza station for fine italian cuisine as well. All in all, an awesome local gem.

slamming pizza. But this place is always packed with the wannabe Russian thug boys.. Cant stand them. other than that this pizza place is the only good pizza in kew gardens. None of that nasty ass kosher shit... no offense. The only thing is that there dining area is very tiny and the wait to have a full course meal takes a million years. for that i just get my slice or chicken parm to go.:)

Pizza is good at best. I personally like the sweet-ish sauce. Open late so it's great for those "drunk munchies" Price by the slice is competitive. Expensive if ur ordering a whole pie, make it a plain one or get nickle-and-dimed for every individual topping! Service is shitty. Plain and simple. I feel bad for the guys in front because they're the only ones who work. I watch every employee in that place stand around and do nothing (and by nothing i mean they are chatting with eachother, taking personal calls on their cell phones, or literally doing NOTHING) while the guy in front was expected to serve the people sitting at the counter, the people coming in for pick-up orders, and people coming in for a slice to go as well as heat the pizza, bag the take-out orders, and answer the phone! BTW this review is not based on one experience! It's like this all the time, afternoon to late night, Sunday through Saturday!

The absolute BEST Italian food I have ever had! (And I have had plenty - home cooked by actual Italians too!) I recently moved into the neighborhood and heard so much about this place but never knew where it was let alone tried it. My friends kept telling me to "go try their pizza, best pizza ever! The sauce..!" So I took a walk and ended up face to face with a tiny little hole in the wall place. I had to do a double take to make sure I was going into the right place. My boyfriend and I ordered a slice each and a beer (they have a pretty extended, varied list of beers!) and what can I say, it was love at first bite! The sauce was not as sweet as other Yelpers put it, it was perfect! It wasn't too garlicky, too basily (is that a word? No?), nor was it too sweet or salty - it was PERFECT! The crust was unbelievably thin and crisp, the cheese tasted like it was of higher quality than most other places, and I believe there was butter somewhere in the mix of it all? I was overwhelmed in the best way possible! I told my boyfriend that this is what pizza (you know, the Ninja Turtle kind that always looked so good on TV) should taste like! We went back a second, maybe third time and then decided to try out their food which is served in a tiny little restaurant right next to the pizza area. I tried the chicken parm, my boyfriend had the chicken marsala. That was by far, the best chicken parm I have ever had in my life. It must be the sauce! I had some of my bf's marsala which was pretty tasty too. We were so happy after our entrees that when the waiter offered dessert we had to say yes. (We go out to dinner all the time and NEVER get dessert. Not even fancy, upscale places!) We both ordered canolis and coffee. (I have tried canolis in Little Italy that do not even come close to Dani's canolis!) They reminded me of the canolis my ex boss used to make which were heavenly! We were so happy with everything that we just gave the waiter money, no change needed. His service was great and the food was out of this world. We have gone back countless times for pizza at all hours of the night (this place is open until 3am on weekdays and 4am on weekends!!!) There is always a fresh pie coming out of the oven, the guys work super quickly to get the heaps of customers served quickly yet efficiently (meaning no mistakes, no complaints.) It is always fairly clean despite the massive amounts of customers they always get. I don't mind that the place is tiny, that actually gives it a nice communal touch to it. The restaurant feels like dining at home - very cozy and comfortable. I tried their pesto slice once and while it was pretty good I'd much rather stick to the original stuff. Oh their meatballs are incredible too in case anyone is in the mood for a meatball sub. I cook pretty well but can honestly say, these meatballs kick my culinary butt! This place is one of the best things about living in Kew Gardens, highly recommend it to everyone! If you are far away, you have to come out and try this pizza- you will not regret it! I feel truly spoiled that I live in an area that has the best pizza in the world, yea i said it, the world! (I should know, I've been everywhere!) My bf adds that he loves their french onion soup and is by far the best he's ever had. This coming from a captain that's worked at and tried countless top quality restaurants all over the island of Manhattan (Gotham, BLT, Django, Sho etc.) Seriously, if you haven't tried this place out, put it on your to-do list! That's all folks, I'm going to go enjoy a slice now myself! :)

Dani's is not for everyone. But it's definitely for me. The reason I say that is because not everyone will like the pizza sauce. I happen to LOVE sweet sauce. I actually add a good amount of sugar to my sauce when I make pasta at home. That said, Dani's was a godsend for someone like me. The sauce is so sweet it's hard not to inhale the slices. That leads me to the point that acts as a double-edged sword. The slices, are pretty light and airy. Even the Sicilian slices, which is what I got. I downed three slices before I was satisfied. This can come as a good thing to those who don't want really heavy pizza weighing them down as they walk out the door, but it also means more money out of your pocket if you're looking for a filling meal. Thankfully, the prices are very competitive. It's hard to find affordable pizza these days, and for a place to still charge $2 a slice (both regular and Sicilian) is great. According to a sign I read inside, it's even cheaper on Wednesdays ($1.50). If you're a fan of sweet pasta sauce, Dani's is the place to go! Highly recommended!

Dani's has been a neighborhood institution since 1959. Best known for its pizza, the restaurant also serves simple Italian dishes of exceptionally HIGH QUALITY at incredibly LOW PRICES. In addition to the culinary miracles Dani's performs on a shoestring, they were also able to renovate the restroom and dining areas of the restaurant this past winter. Dani's started neighborhood deliveries this past month, too. While the main dishes travel very well, the pizza is best right out of the oven when the crust is crispiest. Dani's sauce is slightly sweet, which makes the pizza entirely unique. I haven't had anything like it anywhere else. I'd put Dani's pizza up against any of the other NYC greats: Patsy's, John's, Lombardi's, etc. The difference is that Dani's won't gouge you on price. While Dani's is mainly known for it's plain pizza, any specialty pies one might want can be made to order. The only specialty pie on display is the pesto pizza. While a bit rich with olive oil, it is amazingly good, too. I haven't had anything like it anywhere else either. Dani's only uses the finest and freshest ingredients. The best flour, tomatoes, olive oil, herbs, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses go into their fare. I wish I could find that same Parmesan cheese for my own dishes. I've looked in Balducci's, Citarella's, Whole Foods and a slew of specialty stores over the years and haven't found anything comparable. So how does Dani's do it? What are the economics of pizza? Dani's has two parts: the pizzeria and the restaurant. The pizzeria seats about 7 at the counter. Both areas combined only seat about 37 people. Pizza starts at $2 a slice, entrees at $10 or so. Simple economics requires Dani's to set aside the majority of available seating for patrons buying higher priced dinners. Slices aren't allowed in the dining room unless you're also purchasing an entree. Did I mention the portions are so large that an entree and two sides will feed two with some left over? They don't skimp on the size of the slices either. Dani's has always helped out the neighborhood by having discount pizza on Wednesdays when plain slices are on sale for just $1.25. When the "Great Recession" started, Dani's lowered the price on plain slices from $2.25 to $2, and on Wednesdays from $1.50 to $1.25. Because of the cost, they don't give out the Parmesan cheese with pizza on Wednesdays. This year, Dani's also had an anniversary day when slices were just 25 cents. The line went around the block. Lines are not unusual at Dani's. It's typical to see one going out the door even at 3:00 AM. So if the staff are a bit busy or tired at times, and don't take care of me right away, I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. On the whole, the staff and the owner are pretty nice. There are two kinds of free slices at Dani's. The first the staff may give out to someone in the neighborhood who is having a hard time. I've seen them help people this way on a number of occasions. The second kind is free when someone starts giving the staff a hard time. Very professionally, the staff inform the patron that they are no longer welcome, that the food is on the house, and that they may take it with them, but that it wouldn't be a good idea for them to ever return. I've been going to Dani's since 1983 and have only seen this happen twice. Dani's is a warm place with warm people. Even the patrons teetering in at 3:00 AM after a night of partying are well-behaved and happy to be there. Dani's is the kind of place where the chef will offer to add extra garlic to your pasta sauce or extra lemon to your chicken Francese if he sees you're coming down with a cold. (BTW, both are really good that way!) It's the kind of place where they give out gifts to the regular customers at Christmas time. Like Kew Gardens itself, Dani's is diverse and everyone is welcomed there. It's like the United Nations of the neighborhood. We even have visiting dignitaries. The Kew Gardens Cinema is owned by the same people who own the Cobble Hill Cinema in Brooklyn. Both places show the same avant garde films. But I have friends who will drive all the way from Cobble Hill to go to the movies here just so they can have the pizza across the street at Dani's afterward. The place is very clean. The people who work at Dani's are always washing their hands, especially after handling money. There are hand sanitizer dispensers spaced at convenient intervals throughout the food preparation areas. So to everyone who works at Dani's, thanks for feeding me. And thanks for feeding the whole neighborhood. You guys are amazing!

My favorite pizza, the sauce is amazing!! They are open until 3am and serve beer!! it doesn't get much better then that. The only reason I didn't give this place five stars is the size, way too small. Sometime there isn't even standing room inside and people are waiting outside. This can make it hard to get someones attention to take your order, so it usually takes awhile to get your pizza. However once you taste that yummy slice you forget all about the wait and the crowd.

Good pizza but man can they be rude as others have commented. Saw them being rude to three separate elderly people. Not cool. Lied to one of them and said they didn't accept orders over the phone and then proceeded to take an order over the phone few minutes later. Not the greatest customer but yes pizza is tasty.

What can i say about this place? Hmmm... I came here a few times for the sit down dining experience. I still have not tried the pizza yet but everytime I step in I have the need to just sit down and have a nice meal. The place is pretty cramped but it's cozy and romantic if you can tune out your neighbor's conversation. I do not suggest going in a large group. Probably the max group size would be 4. The food is very good. I always get the Prince Edward's Island Mussels. The mussels are fresh and the sauce absolutely heavenly. Fresh garlic, sweet tomatoes, kind of like pizza sauce. I usually find myself sopping every up every bit of sauce with the toasted bread they provide. I'm not much into eating chicken but this place offers the best Chicken Pizzaiola and Chicken Marsala ever! They don't scrimp on the chicken! The chicken is always juicy, sauces tasty and the side of choice pasta (or salad but I don't like salad) makes this meal one to remember. I usually pay a little bit extra to have my pasta topped with the Fried Sauce (garlic fried in butter with marinara... YUM!) The prices are pretty decent especially since the food is very delicious. The mussels $10.00, Chicken Pizzaiola/Marsala with side pasta/salad $15.00 each. Fried Sauce instead of plain marinara $2.00. I do not recommend the Chicken Franchese. It's a little too sour for my tasting. I would suggest sweetening up the lemon sauce a bit as this dish was a little bit too much for me.

Two girls clad all in white and long skirts came traipsing in to break their fast an hour and fifteen minutes early because we are terrible horrible no good very bad Jews who just couldn't take Yom Kippur any more. No, it's not the beginning of a Woody Allen film, it's the beginning of a great Yelp review! The little dining room in the back held very little appeal as we plopped ourselves at the counter and inhaled one steaming, melty fresh slice each. It was heaven. It felt so good to be bad. After we started breathing again, we debated the sweet sauce...I still have mixed feelings. With a good sprinkle of garlic powder it definitely starts to taste a little funny, and I need my garlic powder. Maybe a touch too sweet on the pizza sauce? I dunno. I can't give five stars, as we were so hungry that I think the plates our slices came on would have been tasty too. But it sure as heck hit the spot when we needed it to, so kudos.

People come to Kew Gardens just for a slice of Dani's. It lives up to the hype. I have seen lines here at 3 a.m. It is that damn good. Dani's has the best pizza I have ever eaten from a typical neighborhood pizzeria. The sweet sauce is the key. And the restaurant half of it is also outstanding.

Decent slice of pizza and the food in the dining room is just okay. If you're coming home late on the train after a night out drinking though, nothing beats a slice of Dani's pizza, even with that sauce that's a little too sweet. And what ever happened to the green pizza?

this place is one of my least favorite. the pizza is sooooo sweeeet its NOT what new york pizza is. not even close .... the sauce tastes like a mixture of oversweet ketchup with tomato paste so think acidic and supersweet. the people at the counter are just very mean giving you a look like your responsible for all their struggles in life when alll you want to do is say hi pay for your pizza and leave. the sitdown part of the restaurant is decent you can get your basic italian american fixings. if you want rude service and food thats sub-par go to danis

GREAT pizza and salad. A mildly sweet sauce on the pizza makes it unique and delicious. Wonderful staff and a great, friendly, neighborhood-feel. It's open until 3AM, so it is the perfect place for a late night snack/beer if you are taking the LIRR home. I don't know about their meals - I had their spaghetti primavera once and it was decent - but they have a very romantic little dining room that is perfect for dates. Good selection of beers too. Very reasonable prices ($10 for a large pizza!) I highly recommend Dani's if you're in Kew Gardens.

Love their plain slice. One of the best I've ever had. Some of the reviewers below said it was too sweet..I never noticed the sweetness but I love the honey-wheat dough at CPK so maybe that's why I like this one. The crust is not too thin, not too thick and they have just enough cheese so it doesn't engulf the entire top layer so the tomato sauce can still be savored. I've never tried the sit down food on the other side but I definitely recommend the plain slice.

This place has been around forever. The pizza is good, but they do have a very sweet sauce and sometimes I am just not feeling that. I really LOVE the pesto pizza they have. I also eat in the dining room often. Really enjoy the mozzarella sticks and baked clams. The lasagna is good. I like to order the fettuccine (fresh pasta) dish they have with a tomato and cream sauce and usually substitute shrimp for the chicken, very tasty. Also I loved the pastas with the "fried" sauce. Old School. They have this house salad dressing that I love, I eat it with my bread, but it is very garlicky. They do have a great beer selection, ok wines. PS The pizzeria and the dining room is very small, the place is usually crowded they have a very loyal following.

For a pizzeria that's open till 4 am this one has great quality in pizza and dinners. I get out of work at 10 so once in a while me and the hubby will call up this place and order penne alla vodka and veal parm to go and wow is it good. The penne alla vodka is made perfectly all the time and its not too heavy but just right and the veal parm is prob one of the best I've ever tasted. They even put extra parm cheese with bread, butter, and utensils in our bag. It's all very thoughtful and delicious. The slices are also good :)

There's almost always a line out the door every time I go to Dani's.... and I will gladly wait in line for their pizza. It's a great neighborhood pizzeria. Don't expect the guys behind the pizza counter to be extremely friendly though. I've never eaten in... a little too cramped for me. The pizza is also relatively inexpensive (especially on the days that there are discounts).

Pizza slices are perfect. I packed slices to take home to my husband when I commuted home to LA. I would throw it in the oven for 350- to get a nice crispy crust again. The sauce is so savory and sweet, and perfect ratio to the cheese. I have had pizza all over NY, but when I talk about queens, I have to make my shout out to Dani's! I miss it so much!

I don't know how i feel about this place. First off my friend and i were running low of money, no cash only debit. So we checked out a few places to make sure they took debit. We asked one of the cooks at Dani's and he says "Yep", we get our slices of plain pizza, that were very very very plain. Borderline rubber, sad little mediocre pizza. AS we get up to leave another cook tells us its a 10 dollar minimum. We have a little fight over whether, we were going to trek to find and ATM or he was going to take the 7.25 and shove it. He deiced he would just give us the pizza and soda for free. Very dumb on his part, but i got crappy pizza for free. The only real pro about this place was the range of beers they have, i have never seen so many different types in a pizza place. The yummy beer will distract you from the crapptastic pizza.

I live right down the block from Dani's, and as they're open 'till 4am, eat there often. A neighborhood institution, Dani's has, by far, the best pizza for miles around. The very sweet sauce they use is quite addictive, and people come from all around for it. That said, their food does not even come close to any mediocre pizza joint in Brooklyn or Manhattan. The rest of the menu is unimaginative, and they hide inferior quality food under tons of sauce and greasy cheese. On top of that, the incredibly rude, unfriendly counter-staff will ignore you for so long that you may as well get in a car and jump on the Jackie Robinson, because odds are you'll get to Brooklyn faster than getting a slice here.

I LOVE THIS PIZZA PLACE! They have this special sweet sauce tasting pizza which is so good I can not describe! The best part of the place is that its open till like 4AM which is great for a hungry college student like me! I go once weekly and always take my out of town friends here to show them how REAL NY PIZZA tastes and they become instant fans too! LOVE YOU DANIS!

Dear lord, don't ever let my mother find my reviews on yelp, she would positively hand me my ass for even remotely suggesting that there is better pizza than Alba's (read my previous review) anywhere in the world. After having a goodly number of Stellas at Austin's Ales, my friend Ed suggested we get ourselves some pizza at Dani's. we chatted pizza for a few minutes -- noting my love of Alba's, bemoaning the lack of good pizza where I live (San Francisco) -- and walked around the corner to the place. The smell of yum was in the air and there were happy people standing outside waiting for their take out. We got a seat at the counter and I drooled over the beer selection. Wow! There must have been 25 different beers in that fridge... so impressive for a little pizzeria in little Kew Gardens. You can definitely take a beer snob to this joint. My slice was perfect. Oily and brown-cheesed and thin-crusted and perfectly well-done without my even having to request it. The sauce was fantastically sweet. I could have eaten a fucking pie, it was so awesome. And when I was down to the crust, there was enough dripped off oil to sop up off my plate. And it tasted damn fucking good alongside my budweiser. I have been converted.

Dani's did something very sweet for which I will remember them. They have proven themselves members of the Kew Gardens community at great expense to themselves. As one of the down and out people from the current recession/depression, I couldn't have appreciated it more: They gave away slices for 25 cents and gave away free ice cream. The line was around the block, but it was the whole community. Is Dani's the best of the best of the best? No. They're pretty good, and pretty nicely priced. I'll never go across the street again (to that other place.)

Great pizza, i think they put sugar in their sauce! Slices are huge too....but service sucks. whomp whomp whomp.

It's Dani's. Come on. Hands down the best pizza you will eat. Open late so perfect for 2 a.m. slice cravings. They tend to run out of pizza every 3 seconds and the lines can get long, but it's worth the wait. If you're fiending to sit down to a meal there is an attached restaurant which is delicious as well. Don't expect amazing service on the pizza side of the place - that's not what you're here for. You've come for the goods. Rumor has it their secret sauce ingredient is grape jelly. They could put poop in it for all I care. Just don't eat pizza anywhere else. Seriously.

My first stop when I visit my daughter in Kew Gardens. Just love it. The veal Marsala was great, pasta very good. My daughters Veal Parm was excellent. the wine was fine. the prices great. I wish the server would smile, and be somehat friendlier. Was like a zombie, LOL.

A decent slice. A little on the sweet side for my taste. But I love that they have a good German beer selection and a bar.

Best Pizza. Incredibly great selection of craft-brews. WORST service. I have been torn about this place for years. The pizza is GREAT. This is one of the last remaining old style pizza places left that is still up to the quality I remember from 30-40 years ago. Unfortunately, the service is ATROCIOUS. The guys behind the counter genuinely do not seem to care that customers are waiting. They will pay attention to you and take your order when THEY feel like it. Even calling in your order beforehand does not seem to help. On more than one occasion I have been told that my pizza would be ready in 30 minutes, and still waited another 20-30 minutes after I got their to actually get my pizza. For an occasional treat, it is worth a visit, but I don't go there nearly as often as I would like to because the service is just that bad.

Having lived in NY my entire life (which spans over 40 years) and eaten lots of pizza this is the only slice of pizza that I threw away after the first bite. Too sweet. Tried it again at the insistence of a friend who said I must have just gotten a bad slice. Nope - Just as inedible the second time. I believe the recipe for the sauce calls for lots of sugar, Sweet would be an understatement. I've had apple pie that was less sweet than this pizza. Get a slice from any other pizza place and put about five tablespoons of sugar on top and you will get an approximation of Dani's pizza. This is not in any way a true NY style pizza - it shouldn't even qualify as pizza. And why is Dani's the only food establishment in the Kew Gardens area without a posted letter grade? Even the health food store next to them has a grade posted in the window. I suspect the grade they received was very low and they don't want customers to see it. I have lived on Austin St off Lefferts for over 15 years and contrary to some of the reviews here (most likely written by the owner himself), there is rarely "a line out the door" (which given the size of the space would only mean three people anyway). And when there are people standing outside, they are usually drunk - their taste buds deadened enough by the alcohol to tolerate the awful pizza. If it was ever good it must have been a long time ago and is coasting on a undeserved reputation from the sixties or seventies.

Best pizza in Queens and probably NYC. I usually start by ordering the beloved pesto slice, then a regular one and finish up ordering a Pesto slice with tomato sauce on top. This is just delicious!! The pizza is always fresh, thin and crispy. They also have a good beer selection. This is famous place to go to after partying all night long since they close really late.

For a place who has pizza in the name you'd think I would've tried a slice by now, but alas in the half dozen times I've been to Dani's I've needed something more filling than just a slice.... problem is while the main menu is more filling I've yet to find something. Service is spotty... skill at not only making eye contact with the waitstaff, but also the ability use that eye contact to corral said server to your table is a requirement for dining here. This applies to getting someone to seat you, getting someone to give you a menu after you've been seated, getting someone to take your drink order after they give you the menu, etc... Past the service the food is just ok. Big props to the creamy italian dressing... comes out in a big self serve jar and you can drown or apply to taste. The salad itself is a good portion but often frozen. I've had the lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, and chicken parm. All do the job of checking off the meal. None are horrible, but nothing leaves you with that "I gotta get that again" feeling. So when the food is just ok and the service is below par.... Dani's is one of those places to go when you're too lazy to go anywhere else, but if you want a good experience, you should make the effort.

I moved to Florida 20 years ago, from Kew Gardens, and I miss Dani's more than anything. Not just the best pizza, all of their dishes are awesome. This is the kind of small, classic NYC restaurant that is sadly disappearing. Great food and prices, and no BS.

Ordered a "small pie" to go over the phone.. Picked it up .....took it home and was dismayed to find not a fresh small pie but 4 huge slices of an old reheated pie that totally missed the mark. I've had the single slices before and when fresh out of the oven they're good. This was NOT what I was expecting. Thankfully they were going to a group of hungry 7 year olds.....with out my expectations. What decent , highly rated pizza shop in NYC doesn't make a small pie ?? Crap...

I have been going to Dani's since 1989 and I can't tell you ever one solitary problem I have encountered since. The traditional cheese pizza is amazing during the day and addictive at 2 am. The Pesto makes you feel like your in Tuscany. Although the original owner has passed away, God rest his soul, his son is doing a good job of managing and maintaining his fathers legacy. The Head Chef is amazing. He is absolutely one of the best. 5 Stars.

Food is pretty good. For pizza walk-in service you need to know the law of the land or else they won't even acknowledge you are there, just walk up to the counter and bark your orders out. The sit down service is a 180 although I feel bad for the one waiter running around, obviously understaffed. If you are looking for pizza this is a good spot, just be ready for meh service.

I would give this place 10 stars. BEST SLICE OF PIZZA IN NYC! those are big words but it fills them. I live walking distance from howard beach's New Park Pizza and pass on it to go to Dani's. New Park has nothing on Dani's. Dani's is in a class of it's own. Di Fara keeps getting cited for rats and other nasty stuff. Dani's is simply the best and it needs to be recognized as such. In my opinion, it's better than New Park, Di Fara, Abitino's, La Famiglia, grimaldi's (albeit a different style of pizza). Plus they have a fridge full of craft beers. One of those and two slices not only will be one of the best meals you'll ever have, it's usually less than $8 if you get one of the beers on the chalkboard which is what I usually do.

Not among the top 5 best pizzerias in Queens, but def some of the best in Kew Gardens/Forest Hills. The crust is thin but still fold-able, the sauce has a slightly sweet taste, and the sauce-to-cheese ratio is spot on. One star deducted for the excessively long wait time and their inability to just have enough pizza for their customers. It's not like they're giving away dollar slices or it's the world's best pizza, so I think the out-the-door lines are due to management's poor planning. This doesn't stop me from coming though! Can't comment on the restaurant's food as I've never tried, although if it's anything like the pizza I'm sure it's tasty. 3/28/14: My long-overdue review of their restaurant, which hubby and I have now dined in a handful of times: 3.5-4 stars. The food is very tasty, not the best Italian I've had but certainly very good for the area. The portion size is generous and the prices are reasonable. Very friendly service. Like the pizzeria, they're slow moving, but I think it's a vibe they are intentionally going for. Cramped space and your table is kind of on top of other diners. So not 5-star great, but nothing so serious it keeps us from returning.

How many slices did I eat? Not 2 but 3. That's right! I'm not ashamed that I gorged on their pizzas like a greedy pig. I'm still annoyed that you can only eat their pizzas at the counter and not at the actual restaurant. Their pizzas are just too good to complain about anything. My friend and I washed down our pizzas with a raspberry beer two weekends ago. I must admit that I do love eating at the counter and chilling out. Very casual and relaxed until the people waiting behind us are antsy for seats.

Service is just ok, I had to wait like 5 minutes to put in my order and they didn't let me know when it was ready. However, I liked the vegan pie. You can only order by the pie, which is $18, but it was really tasty I like the sweet sauce. The $4 for toppings is a bit pricey, but overall I like this place. Pre-vegan I had a pesto and regular cheese slice that was delicious. I think service is better when you're ordering just a slice.

Just read all the reviews and the good ones are spot on, but the comments on "sour crust" and "the owner used to be Italian but now they are Spanish" are just wrong. Pizza is still the same as ever and still the best. And...owners were NEVER Italian, they have been and still are the original family owners and they are Albanian. Another woman complained that she and her children weren't allowed to order a pie in the dining room...wake up lady, pies haven't been served in the dining room for YEARS. Get your facts straight before you rag on a place.

This review is purely about the pizza, and not the sit-down portion of the restaurant. Without a doubt, this is the best pizza in the five boroughs. I'm a native New Yorker, I've eaten a lot of pizza over the years, and I will stand by that statement no matter what. A queue that is *constantly* snaking out the door is a testament to the quality of the pizza. The sauce is what makes a Dani's slice; it's slightly sweet, with a savory finish. The crust is always thin, but not too thin, and crispy. They don't overload their pies with cheese. Aside from their pizza, their beer selection is fantastic. I've also tried their vegan pizza, it was "okay" at best for me.. the daiya cheese has a very different flavor and texture from the norm, it's a bit hard to describe. Dani's is a VERY small place, and is always packed (good luck finding seating). The worst thing about this place is getting the servers attention is sometimes difficult, but given the volume of customers, it's unsurprising.

The thinness is consistent through the entire slice with minimal crust. Cheese is the perfect spread without the extra sweat. Sauce is on the sweet but still pleasant. Will definitely go back for more!

Excellent pizza. Probably the best pizza in Queens in one of the least expected neighborhoods. The cramped take out/counter service area is worth the effort it takes to order a pie. Since eating at the counter is crowded and not comfortable, take out is the best bet. Staff is very rude and you have to be assertive to get your order in, but again the pizza is worth all the inconveniences.

I love Dani's, & I'm not a pizza person. I wish I had taken advantage of going there more when I lived nearby. My boyfriend doesn't like the sweet sauce, but I personally think it's amazing. The slices are huge, it's open late even on weekdays, & they have a good pesto slice. We've eaten in the dining room before too, the fresh pasta was also very good.

As a staple of Dani's for years I am torn to write this review. Dani's pizza has the most unique pizza sauce I have ever tasted. It is very tangy and sweet and really good. However as time has gone on the quality of the pizza has gone down. The pizza boys who work the counter are rude and condescending and the owner seems to not care about any complaints.. I used to look forward to wednesdays when they used to offer the 1 dollar slices, or the 10 dollar pies... but they have raised the prices to 2 dollars a slice..and 14 dollars for a pie.. is that really a good deal, considering there is much better pizza around. Now they make the pies ahead of time and store them next to the oven, they remain there for hours until they start running out. The only draw here anymore is that they are open until 3 on weekends. Its a shame my boyhood pizzeria has really gone down the drain.

By far the best pizza I've had in anywhere... Dani's is worth the travel from Manhattan (just take the E or F) and it's a short walk. You can sit and have a slice at the counter or have a slice in the dining room. A place I will always go to when I'm in New York.

  • Krista M.

The first time I tried the pizza, I was like "meh", I though it was too sweet and not all that great. I couldn't understand what all the hype was about. However, the more I had the pizza the more I loved it...It is good! It's thin and fresh and while the sauce is a little on the sweet side it is not too much. There is ALWAYS fresh pizza, because there are ALWAYS people in Dani's. It's kind of amazing, no matter if it's noon or 3am there are people getting themselves a slice! The entrees are also just as good, the meatballs and pasta make a great dinner. So maybe you won't love Dani's on the first try, but you will.

Such great pizza probably my favorite in queens have yet to try the dishes but from what I hear the dishes are 20x better and so I cannot wait ! But when I decide to I do wish I don't get served by the people up in front both day and night time always seem to be rude and always that one guy who is either sitting in the chairs crossing his legs taking up two seats making snobby remarks under his breathe or saying really rude things under his breathe from time to time coming here I don't even think he works there I just think he helps around...I'm very disappointed in that one since this is a remarkable and successful spot this could really be an issue because it's not the type of vibe I want or people when I enjoy my pizza especially if I'm with my girlfriend who understands Spanish and clearly hears the snobby rude remarks being thrown out there to customers, it's not professional at all it's very disrespectful and makes me feel uncomfortable bringing my girlfriend in here not that she's 13 and can't hear dirty words it's just morals of living if there's a lady around you watch your mouth it's respect. Sucks I have to give it a 2 stars but if it were up to me THIS PIZZA DESERVES 5! I do have to make an extra comment though, it's the quality of the pizza that makes it good... The ingredients...and the love. Sometimes I think no love is being put into the pizza sometimes and the workers learned off skill. The owner needed someone who would get the work done and keep it moving...the owner prob doesn't know these people talk shit from a day to day to night to night basis.

I tried the vegan pizza today, with the daiya cheese. I'd have to say that I'd rather just go cheeseless. I love that Dani's now offers the vegan option. I love any restaurant that makes an effort to cater to different types of eaters. I've just never been a fan of the cheese substitute, but had never had the daiya before. Anyway, I still LOVE Dani's. And thank you Dani's for giving us vegan's another option.

Im new to the area and decided to try dani's pizza. I found it to be average, not really ratable except for the odd sweet sauce. The reason I am rating dani's is for the staff. INCREDIBLY RUDE!! AND FOR NO REASON THEY SCREAM ATTITUDE FROM THE MOMENT YOU ENTER THE SHOP. It just makes me wonder with such contempt for the patrons, what goes on when the pizza ingredients when no one is around, ugh!

Dani's House of Pizza is the true definition of New York City style pizza. The sauce here is amazing! I literally live just a few blocks away from here for the past 10 years or so and I finally tried it after hearing my cousin rave about Dani's non-stop since he rides his bicycle for miles and miles just to get a slice with extra sauce. The pizza here is delicious. We ordered ours with extra sauce and right after my first bite, I fell in love with this place instantly. The taste of the sauce was just incredible. The sauce is sweet and very rich tasting. The crust is nice and crunchy but I can't stress how good the sauce taste here. I didn't bother adding any garlic powder or any condiments to it, it doesn't need it at all! They have a pretty decent beer selection over here. I was quite impressed. The pizza dude was pushin us to have a beer instead of a soda or Snapple. Even though I didn't really wanted to, but what the hell, make it a good first experience with good beer and good pizza! I don't wanna over hype the pizza here but you guys really gotta try it. Kew Gardens Cinema is just down the block. Catch a indie film and some pizza before or after, you simply cannot go wrong with that! And please try it with extra sauce!

I came here earlier today with a friend. We wanted to sit and chat so we entered the restaurant section. The waitress informed us that we couldn't have pizza in this part of the restaurant. We inquired whether we could have something from the menu AND a slice of pizza. She agreed, but strictly said we had to get one thing from the menu EACH. Ok no problem. As she brought over our two slices I ordered the shrimp cocktail and my friend got the chicken parm hero. The pizza was great, as always. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the other things we ordered. First off, while the pizza arrived very quickly the shrimp cocktail and chicken parm hero took at least 20 mins to come out. Why it took so long for them to defrost my shrimp and pour some sauce into a glass I don't know. Did they have to go catch the shrimp in the Hudson River? I will say the shrimp tasted good. Not excellent, but good. My only complaint is that there were FIVE shrimp for ELEVEN dollars. That's some pricey shrimp. My friends chicken parm hero was just embarrassing. Not only did it look unattractive, it was also over cooked. One end had a black burned piece of the chicken. The hero had been cooked so long that the bread had become hard and crunchy (and not the good kind of crunchy)! After a few bites he didn't want to even continue. I sampled the hero as well and totally agree. The hero was awful. I've had better Heros from subway (which isn't saying much bc subway is not high class dining and I greatly dislike them). Moral of the story: Danis is good for pizza, but if you want to sit down and have some Italian food, this is not the place!! I will not be back to the restaurant portion of Danis, only to the pizza portion.

Instead of schlepping back to Brooklyn from Mike B's Yelp Drinks UYE at Tap House, it was decided I was sleeping over in Kew Gardens. So after much drinking and dancing in Forest Hills, the ladies and I had to fill our tummies and off they took me to Dani's. This pizzeria is conveniently located around the corner from the Kew Gardens LIRR so we had to pop in for a slice on the way to The Kew Club. At stupid o'clock in the morning, Dani's was buzzing with people (sober or not, it was hard to tell)! The regular slices are $2.25 and they are fantastic. Slightly sweet, not too doughy with a crunchy crust. I noticed they had an extensive list of beers, which I was impressed by. I might need to start sleeping over at Monique's house more often JUST for another slice...

I have lived here for a few years now and have learned there are few decent establishments to eat at around here. I have been at Dani's before and was quickly put off by the sweet sauce on the pizza. However, on New Year's Eve, I just wanted a slice as I got off the train....big mistake, counter staff ignores you as you stand there with no waiting customers as he is chatting up someone seated at the bar and the sauce was sweet as fructose syrup. Sad. Slice size is great, cheese ratio is good, sauce is horrible. How about having a new option of a garlic, basil marinara? Please?

Try the pesto slice, it is amazing. The slices come out crispy without getting dried out. If you choose to eat at the counter, the beer/wine selection is decent, and not all that expensive. This place is open late, making it great for those late night cravings. During the summer months the line can go out the door with people stumbling over from Austin st for a quick bite

This place would have 5 stars if it wasn't for their god awful customer service. To be fair, they do spread the bad service around to everyone so that it's not a gender/race thing. The pizza though is SO outstanding. The pesto slice is amazing. I crave it all the time. The regular slice is okay too; the sauce is a little too sweet for my taste. Excellent dough. The sit down experience was not great. If you go, I would just so take out and wear thick skin.

There are rare occasions I will travel far for a good slice of pizza. There are virtually no pizza parlor's that come to mind that I would make the pizza pilgrimage to procure great slices other than some of the storied locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Dani's pizza parlor tests my limit of geographically acceptable pizza locations (GAPL) the slices themselves are a big slice with a sweet tasting sauce that is well worth the trip. Dough is dough and cheese is cheese for the most part, so the key is in the qua;lity of the sauce and for me, Dani;s has delivered splendid sauced and cheesed regular slices, for the better part of 25 years. (Back in my weightlifting days I polished off a whole pie on 2 occasions) The candles atop the smallish tables are such a nice touch in the dimly lit dining area and how warm the dining room felt on the chilly last nigh I dined in. Comfy and cozy, the perfect ambiance around the holiday, watching the electric train running too and fro, end to end of the street side table is an added bonus, Everything on the menu will cost you under $15 with an average entree of $10. Veal Scallopini is one of the most tender and flavorful Italian dishes I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Fettucchini Alfredo was wonderful, I can keep ranting dish after dish but the common denominator is that Dani's is a amazing eatery with a serious craft beer menu..

Place is perfect for late nights. Quite a squeeze as it is a really tiny little joint. The pizza is amazing especially the pesto. The red sauce is a tad sweet but thats what makes Danis. It is shocking how great their beer list is. Whom would have thought. Just wished they had more space to enjoy the beers or had delivery!!

Pizzeria is awesome. Pizza quality is excellent. I remember when the Wednesday slice was only $1! Still though, its worth every penny. Sit at the counter, share a beer, good pizza, great conversation - can't ask for more! - - - - Venture into the restaurant/dining area and you are in for a nice time. Menu is classic Italian. Servers are nice and very helpful. Recommend as a date night, or just for friends looking to hang out. - you can even eat pizza from the pizzeria while eating in the dining area! Also - there is a toy train in the window display that actually does run. Great to look at! A true hidden wonder!

What's not to like? Mug shot of Sinatra on the wall. Counter seating with great view of extensive beer cooler. Rubbing elbows with aircrew and locals. Crowded for a reason. Two words: Pesto Sicilian. Better option than standing around wedged in is to call ahead and reserve your slices. Danny's is a local institution. Talk to anyone in Kew Gardens and they know Danny's.

All I can say is do not eat at Dani's. The guys here touch cash with their bare hands and then touch your food with their bare hands. For those of you who are gross and don't care, think about what people touch on a daily basis. Using the bathroom, touching things in public places, etc. These sames hands touching these things on a daily basis are all over these monies. Think of it this way......a guy wants to "relieve himself" in the bathroom and then doesn't wash his hands.....touches the money or could even be the guy that serves your pizza because, let's face it, if they're not using gloves or washing their hands after touching money, what else could they be contaminating your food with. I ordered 4 slices from the guy and saw the guy handing cash with his bare hands and then proceeded to touch the slices for me and my daughter without washing his hands or wearing gloves. I then asked to speak to a manager. He proceeded to tell me that he would take my order....as if that would remedy the issue but apparently he wasn't really listening to me. I then explained that the guy already served my food. He said that would replace it but there was only one more pesto slice left when I ordered two of them out of the four. He then said he would give me the one that was left and and still serve me serve one of the other ones that the guy spread his germs on. They don't care about being sanitary. Not only did he not care but he had an attitude about it. This place should be closed down. Watch out for this the next time you eat their food. You never know......next time you could be eating someone's Jiz*.

I love the sauce here. Yes it's on the sweet side, but it's delicious. Pizza here is awesome. They have a great selection of bottled beer and it's cheap. Usually I just have pizza, but last night I ate in the dining room. Pizza is not served in the dining room, but if it's not busy it appears they will let you take your pizza in there. The waitress was moody, wouldn't tell me what kind of red wine I was drinking other than "Yellowtail," but it was good enough for me. Our broccoli appetizer was clearly frozen broccoli, and there's just no excuse for that -- there's a supermarket selling fresh produce across the street, go buy some! My rolled eggplant made up for it though, and my boyfriend enjoyed his ravioli. The ricotta was particularly creamy and delicious. In short, not fancy, but a neighborhood staple that I am happy to dine at regularly.

I swear they add sugar to the sauce !! Pizza is amazing and all...those servers have gotten worse over the years! They just ignore you till you yell at them to take your order .....or some days they actually wanna help you::::weirdos...:but whatever still great pizza !!!

A nice hidden pizzeria gem in the middle of Queens, their specialty slice, The Pesto Slice, is amazing and so is their regular one. A perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and a thin crust for a good price. You can grab 1 slice and a drink for $3 or 2 slices and a drink for $5! If you are ever in Kew Gardens, drop by for a quick slice!

Best pizza I ever tried but the place is tiny and has very few seats. Mostly busy so I guess a lot of people also order from them. Only tried plain cheese though. Would stop by again to try other toppings.

Why is everyone raving about this spot? It's Saturday afternoon and I walk in there and, there is one guy placing an order, the two guys behind the counter looked at me and never said a word. While I stood there trying to get their attention the one guy who I assume takes the order proceeds to fill his cup with soda and carry on a full on conversation with the other guy making the pizza. Then as I was about to walk out he guy drinking his soda handling money and the pizza at the same time ask me "what do u want" as if I am taking something from him. Based on the poor customer service along and unsanitary conditions and practices of the guy handling money and pizza at the same time, I will not be returning here. The pizza is not good anyway.

Pizza is okay, and you hardly ever get a place to sit. Beer selection is decent, but the fact that you cant sit down and enjoy the pizza you pay for is very disappointing.

Dani's spins an excellent pizza. Their pizza is not to thick and not to thin. They always offer a regular and pesto slice. The pesto slice is oh so good, as well as their regular slice. Dani 's is so good for a local pizzeria. However it is located in Kew Gardens not Richmond Hill Queens. PS next to the pizza place is a full Italian restaurant. Their entrees are prepared with TLC as well.

This place has the worst service. Was waiting on a line out the door more than 20 mins because the guys behind the counter are to busy talking with the beer drinkers at the counter service and then to top it off the Owner walks out sees the line of people and continues to walk away without even addressing any of the customers or trying to assist in getting the line moving. The pizza has become awful and is over priced. Will not ever buy pizza or eat in this restaurant again!

Regular and pesto pizzas are excellent. My favorite is their bake lasagna. They have a large selection of beer too. They have a dining room but most of the people come in for a slice on the go. Late night hours make it a great place for a midnight snack. Enjoy

Best Pizza in Queens. You must try the food too. They have a good collection of beers as well. The staff is friendly and warm.My favorite Pizza is the Pesto Pizza.

Came here after manyyyyyyy years in our quest to find "the" go to pizza place. We got a pie to go because it was so crowded and it was pretty good. It wasn't amazing but the sauce was a touch sweet and the crust was nice. There was something that was missing though which causes this to not be our #1 place. It's definitely good pizza but we're still on the lookout.

Talk about discrimination and being racist! If you're white don't expect to be treated with any respect. My husband and I went into Dani's with another couple. We ordered pizza, and two of us sat at the counter expecting to eat there. When the pizza was ready they put in a box to go. We said "Oh we are staying here to eat, and the Spanish guys working said no you have to go, you can't stay here and eat!" He was so nasty about it. What! There were other Spanish speaking customers in the store and they were sitting down at the counter eating. Absolutely disgusting service!! I usually don't take the time to write reviews but I don't want other white customers to be treated this way. AVOID DANi's PIZZA!! And the pizza wasn't anything great after all.

I love my local pizza joint but I must say hands down, Dani's is my favorite pizza. I've eaten at the counter numerous times and in the dining room. The dining room is good but not excellent but why would you want to eat dishes when you can grab a slice of awesome pizza. Note, no pizza is allowed in the dining room. It might take awhile for the guys to notice you so you can order and sometime to find a seat at the counter since there are about approx 6. The pesto slice is ok as is the sicilian. By now, I know that I have to order a regular slice and then ask them to put either eggplant or mushrooms on it. They don't have the toppings already on the pizza. The crust is very thin and the sauce has a hint of sweetness like they used shredded carrots in the sauce. It's so delicious that I was actually there twice within five days and I don't live in the neighborhood. Sometimes the line can go out the door for pizza as it on a Wed at 12pm.

I knew there had to be pizza just as good as Dani's without having to go all the way to Lillian's in Forest hills. I finally found it! It is L'angolo. It is just off of Metropolitan in Kew Gardens. I have been in there four times now. The pizza is great and the service has been fantastic every time. No more dealing with the unbelievably rude people at Dani's. They also deliver. I have not tried that yet, so I don't know how that goes. Bye, Bye to the rude people at Dani's!!

unbelievable. lazy dumb waitress in dining section. she told us we had to eat pizza at the bar which was two feet long and jam packed? we couldn't eat pizza in the dining area ???? the place was empty. fu€k that. took my a$s and my money to another pizza place.

I guess if you're into the sweet sauce, you'll like this place, but to me, the sauce was just too overwhelmingly sweet. Too sweet to even taste the cheese. I guess the people that grew up on this stuff will love it. I don't know. It's just not my thing.

    (3)
  • Christopher C.

Over rated for sure. Been here twice. Had terrible service both times. The pizza tasted fine, but wasn't as amazing as the reviews suggested. Also, not a fan of sweet pizza sauce so that didn't help.

pizza is the best pesto or Sicilian. one star off because their chicken parm was rubbery and the sauce was over done.

This review is based solely on the pizza. WOW! Super tasty and cheap! A close friend of mine decided to take me and the boyfriend here one day and we've been sold ever since. It's quite a trek for us to get out there, but we'll make the pilgrimage at least once a month or so to partake in Dani's yummy slices. I usually get a couple of plain slices. I've had the pesto and sicilian slices in the past and they just didn't cut it for me. The plain slices are just phenomenal and I can say that they're some of the best pizza slices I've ever had and I've lived in NY for almost my entire life. I almost never sit in to eat here and there's usually always a super long line here, but it's worth the wait in my opinion. I've also never eaten in the actual sit-down portion of the restaurant but perhaps I should one of these days.

Just got pizza from here today . I agree with some of the review pesto slice is good . I had a regular slice the prices are awesome . It does feel like a home family owned company . The staff is friendly as well and if you do want extra slice they will help . As for the pizza the sauce had adequate consistency and the cheese was good that I felt full . Yet only negative it's small so not that much space and parking will be difficult . Other than that wonderful experience .

Good but pretty standard pizza joint - very small counter area - do not allow pizza in their main dining room - very strange.

can't go wrong with a slice from here. luckily we snagged a couple of seats at the counter, shared a couple of really , really good slices of pizza- pepperoni, plain and Sicilian. perfect place to grab a bite after a movie across the street.

I come here for the restaurant. I have not tried the pizza yet, but the chaotic front room is a nice prelude to the dark, kinda sedate back room where the Italian food is served. It's good, basic, homestyle Italian of the type I like. The service is decent and friendly, the beer selection is good, and the food is tasty. A nice spot. It's not gonna blow your mind, but you can have a really pleasant meal.

For $2.75 you can enjoy an amazing flavor explosion that is the pesto pizza. This yummy 22 inch long pizza is slick with unctuous oil and covered with a thick appetizing blanket of zesty pesto. The pesto pizza was a gorgeous slice that made my taste buds coo in pleasure. Dani's offers really great deals for the pizza that are at a great value for the price. Every Wednesday whole pies are only $12 and the huge slices are merely $1.75 with a maximum of 4 slices per person. I cannot imagine anyone eating 4 of the pesto slices in one sitting, one slice was rich and filling enough. Every day except Sunday, between 12pm and 3 pm, 2 slices of pizza and a soda are only $4.00. The deals are so good that I'm tempted to bust out my LIRR ticket and haul over to Kew Gardens to get some yummy yummy pizza. Dani's House of pizza is a charming pizzeria filled with a whole lot of character and a fun kitschy energy. The pizzeria portion is a cramp home for the thin delicious slices, and you have to fight to get a seat in the counter. The dining area is reserved for those who choose to dine on more substantial food such as pasta, filled pasta, fried pasta, and more pasta. Do yourself a favor and make the trip to this lovely area of Queen, watch an artsy movie in the theatre across the street, and then gorge on some scrumptious slices in Dani's inviting home of pizzas!

I always feel at home when I'm at Dani's. Best quick new york style pizza in Queens and maybe all of NY.. and they have a great beer selection. The seating is tight, it's always busy and parking is tough but hey.....it's Dani's.

This is a nice local place in Kew Gardens. The pizza is very popular. My husband and I like to sit in the restaurant, which is small and has a wait at peak hours. But, you can get a decent meal and most of it comes with a salad. I like their house dressing. Also, a glass of the house wine is 4$ and you can't beat that. The wait staff is usually pleasant and busy. Sometimes you have to flag them down, but they are pretty good.

I tried the pizza slices one night as I walked by and I loved it. Small place with bar stools at the counter where you can wash down the slices with some great selections of beer. Another night, we decided to try out the restaurant section inside - loved the lasagna and the spaghetti meatballs; green fettuccine was interesting as well. No pizza slices served in there though. However, I just hate the service - slow, perennially understaffed irrespective of day/time and none of them are ever courteous. Because it's right outside my house, I love it and would go back when I have the patience to dine-in.

Food ====== $1.75 Plain Pizza ($2.25 normally, $4 2 slices w/ a soda 12-3pm) $2.75 Pesto Pizza (not available on Wednesdays) hmmm a 22 inch slice is rather large. comparatively with the normal $1 slices in Manhatten, it's a little worth it. You'd still get more with 2 slices in Manhatten though. The price of their lunch special can buy 3 plain and the soda with a quarter to spare. It is awesomely hot when you get it and yes, the cheese does slide away. The sauce is thinly spread, but evenly and it is interesting that it's sweet, but good. A nice light crunch to it when it's fresh. God, I really wish they had the pesto because that's what I came for but since I was there anyways, decided to get their original Decor ======= Narrow straight walkway, first thing to the right is the pizza ovens and plastic view counter, followed by sitting counter with three stools, some two-fer tables against the walls Service ====== As noted by several reviewers here, the staff do tend to ignore you when you walk in. Which is alright if you're assertive or if you walk up to the counter looking to order, cause why else are you there, eh? Then there's the locals or their friends, know 'em by name and all that. My own service got a little awkward when I was trying to pay and couldn't catch the eye of either staff. So the counter I sat at had 75 cents and I had my dollar bills and just needed 25 cent change, so I put my bills down, picked up a quarter, and pushed the whole thing closer to the staff side of the counter. I still felt weird about it, so even though I was technically in the clear and needed to go, I waited till a staff member deigned to talk to me, upon which I tried to explain what I did and there was a partial accusation of there being 4 quarters, but seeing as how all their pizza slice prices ended in 0.75 that day, I'm not quite sure that made sense. Well, it's not like he argued when I said no, there were 3 quarters, the slice was 1.75, i took one quarter, is there tax? Anyways, if they wanted, according to the Yelp photos, there's a camera in there and they can review it to their heart's content. So yeah, awkward. I mean, I'm still coming back sometime for the pesto, but I'll make sure to wave my payment over the plastic window that time. Extra! ====== - Available condiments: white pepper, red pepper, basil - Wednesdays is $1.75 per regular plain slice day, but apparently they do not make pesto on Wednesday

Whether it's 3 am or 3 pm, whenever I walk into Dani's there is always a pie coming out of the oven. I can understand why. It has taken me some time to grow so fond of this iconic (to Kew Gardens, anyway) Pizzeria. Its always there for me when i need sustenance for $2 per slice. Sometimes I need sustenance at 3am. i wont lie. And they crank out those fresh hot pizza pies and dole out slices at lightening speed. Sure, there is always a line, but that line moves quickly. When I was on my way to catch a play, i was running late and got there just as a pie was coming out of the oven. Sensing my haste, the staff quickly cut 4 slices and placed them in a box with napkins and rung me up. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Of course, i walked in the rain eating pizza out of a box with my boyfriend but they serve up great pizza and in a timely fashion. Their claim to fame is their pizza sauce which is on the sweet side. I have grown to love it. I will miss Dani's when i move to Brooklyn but i know when i am in the area there is a reliable pizza source around!

(in the voice of Rod Serling) Imagine, if you will... A night of drinking with your friends at the local pub. It was a good one,.. a couple of winks from the ladies and you're feeling like the spry chap you were of yester-year... You watched some sports games, had a great time but the night has alas come to an end... After pounding down beers and whatever you fancied for the evening, it's 2:30 am and you are wandering around, aimlessly, wondering what kind of random, cheap, greasy junk food am I going to have to microwave at 7-11 to subside my insatiable hunger right now?... But then you see this place,.. a bustling pizza place,... but wait, it's 2:35am?? How can this be?? You walk towards the light thinking, maybe an optical illusion form those two "mind erasers" that the cute bartender convinced me to drink earlier? You slowly make your way thru the crowd thinking, how surreal is this that I'm standing in a crowded pizza place at 2:37am!?! You finally get called upon and order your two slices and you see that they got their act down... One guy is making a new pie while another is taking a finished pie out to put on a tiered rack that already has two other pies finished, waiting for slice orders.. You're like, I don't see this type of slice back up or demand for pizza during the day at busy pizza shops? Then you get an open barstool as a patron leaves just as you're getting served two crispy large piping hot slices. Just then you look up and notice on the wall a collection of beers that rivals the bar you just left... You see all the favorite domestics along with theri light counterparts and many micro brewery labels..... You wonder which beer would support these golden crispy slice creations best and you decide on a nice clear, cold Rolling Rock... the beer is opened and handed to you... It's 2:43am,.. You finally settle and take a bite of this crispy crusted perfection with very subtle sweet sauce that only compliments the melting hot cheese perfectly,.. you take a sip of your Rolling Rock,..... ahhhhhhh.... you exhale,... You can only imagine this is the kind of euphoria that a heroin addict chases their whole life,.. The only thing about after all this is saying... "Hey, could I uh have another slice?"

I've been eyeing this place for a while, but finally tried it yesterday after seeing a film across the street. Really great pizzeria vibe; there is always a line and the dining room next door has a model train in the window. Enormous bottled-beer list. You watch the pizza guys working hard making each pie right in front of you. We sat at the counter and ordered two plain slices each. They are enormous and look and smell great. I wanted to love it; it seems like the whole neighborhood does. However, I just thought it was "pretty good." The sweet sauce was interesting, but there was too much cheese (it started falling off) and the crust, though it had a nice patina of char, was pretty dry.

Excellent local pizza place. Pizza is delicious. They have an awesome beer selection. If you're looking for pizza a some good beer to go with it, this is the place to go. Service is like any typical New York pizza place. On Wednesdays you can get a slice for $1.75. They have an extensive bottled beer selection. And honestly, that is what keeps me coming back. If you consider yourself a beer connoisseur and you just want a good slice a pizza, I definitely recommend it.

My favorite slice in Queens, by far. Dani is a cute, corner pizzeria that offers counter service for a slice and has a restaurant dining room attached for more upscale, Italian cuisine. I can only comment on the pizzeria part, which is quintessential New York. Dani gives you jumbo sizes slices for under $2 a slice. Definitely recommend trying the pesto pizza, which is their specialty. I'm also a big fan of their great selection of bottled beers, including Peroni a.k.a. my fave. They are located across the street from the fantastic Kew Gardens Cinema, which makes it a terrific option for a quick bite.

The best slice in town. Pesto slice and regular slice amazing. I'm not too crazy about the sit down dinner. Love that this place is opened late. Just make sure your patient sometimes the wait is long, but that's how you know it's delicious !

  • Brian S.

I would give this place four stars but there are just a few things that bother me about this place each time I come here: (1) customers who are not frequent Dani's pizza eaters who don't understand how to stand in line. It is a small restaurant and its very narrow in there. If you walk in and there is a crowd of people right there, it means there is a line and you might need to wait outside for a bit until it clears out. (2) Eat your pizza and be on your way. There is enough seating for maybe 10 people at the bar stools. Everyone wants to enjoy their pizza just as much as you. It is nice if you would finish up and get on with your day so everyone else can sit and enjoy Dani's ultra-delicious extra-large slices. (3) Customers who cut the line and think they are more important, and then are rude to the staff there. These guys behind the counter are working their tails off and are making some banging pizza with some crazy homemade sauce. They are doing everything they can to work quickly. Don't disrespect them. Other than that, Dani's pizza is fantastic. If you want to indulge in something other than pizza, enjoy a sit-down meal in the restaurant part down the steps where the menu is expansive and the italian food is all delicious. You can even get by sharing an entree because the portions are huge! Great for take out!

Huge slices, sweet sauce, decent crust. Rusty swears by this place. "That place is mad good-yo,"he says. Their garlic bread is very garlicy. If you're going to get pizza in this neighborhood, you want to get it from here. There is often a line, but it is definitely worth the wait. They also have a restaurant side of the store where you can sit down and order things like spaghetti and meatballs, etc.

Dani's is where you go when your either: a. drunk coming home from the city b. drunk on your way to the city c. in the mood for a unique tasting pizza d. all of the above The answer is D. It is open late so you can get your drunken pizza fix but it is also delicious and saucy and amazing.

Wish there was a zero star rating because that's what this place would get from me. This place needs to be put out of business. Worst customer service and unhygienic place I've seen in Queens. I don't care how "good" their pizza is, it's no excuse for the staff to have such a disinterested and cocky attitude. This is a family establishment for crying out loud! The guys who make the pizza at the front don't even look at you while you're waiting there for 20-25 minutes- they can't be bothered. They touch money and then touch the pizzas without gloves (who knows what else they touch before handling the food?!). They need to be re-evaluated by the Department of Health because I'm sure they'd get a big fat "F" rating. Worst pizza place ever!

    (1)
  • Robert S.

There is a very narrow entrance right by where you order the pizza so even when I went late at night it was crowded. Its annoying. The pizza here isn't any good--the sauce is too sweet. I have actually had good pizza before so I have something to compare it to but, there is nothing else to eat around here and its open late so it's popular. I'm not going back

    (2)
  • Whiz D.

Great Pizza but the staff is pretty bad. You basically have to walk in like you're a 5 Star General and yell at the pizza bar staff you want a pizza or they'll never get you anything. The pizza is the best NY Style pizza in the area... so maybe the secret isn't the sugar in the sauce, but the stoned out workers?

  • Lauren C.

Great pizza at a cheap price. I think what is most memorable about this place is the sweet sauce. It blends well with the saltiness of cheese to make an amazing pizza.

    (5)
  • Ben B.

A lot of people seem to like Dani's pizza. I think it's good but the sauce is on the sweet side. It's also very busy and tight when you go to order. You can stand there for several minutes before the guys acknowledge you. I was ordered a pie to pick up before they won't deliver and when I arrived they told me they never got the call. I walked out.

    (3)
  • M S.

Best pizza around! Thin crust and an amazing sauce. Just try to walk past hungry without stopping in once you smell the amazing aroma : ) I wish they delivered- they would be our go to weekly pizza joint if they did! Haven't tried the food from their restaurant yet but I look forward to it!

Love the pizza and the owner is really nice. Sadly the customer service when the owner is not there can be poor and often terrible. no one greeting you at the door and they seem annoyed that you would like to order. I love the pizza so much I put up with it. Don't even think of trying to order more than 5 slices on Wednesday. I even offered to pay full price but they won't do it. The employees could definitely use some training on how to treat a customer.

  • Kristen D.

This place has the most bomb pizza in nyc. No, not brick oven so if you're looking for that go to Nick's or Dee's. There is just something so perfect about their sauce that makes their pizza irresistible. The pizza shop part is pretty tiny and only has a little bar for you to sit and eat at, so opt for pizza to go unless you are just by yourself. They also have a really huge variety of beers. I don't drink beer but when you're sitting at the bar table top you have no choice but to look. I guess this is a good thing for you beer lovers. This sounds like a man's paradise, pizza and beer galore. Good stuff people!!
