This place is Chinese? Wtf? Ordered on seamless, Don't trust the reviews. They have 5 stars in seamless. I don't even know how that's possible. The black beans taste like they are seasoned with the old el Paso taco mix from the supermarket. Veggie Tacos are seriously like eating Chinese food. Cabbage and carrots. No salsa, not enough sour cream in the carry out bag and the guacamole was just weird. Good thing I was starving otherwise I would have probably tried to return the order. It also took 45 minutes for delivery which seamless said would only take 25-35. We had to call and ask where our food was. Obviously it was room temperature when we got it. On the upside the nachos were good. Not going back here. Thanks seamless. Oh yea my friend eating with me had some serious Mexican feats after her dinner.

I was very disappointed with my order. Although the delivery was quick, it was the worst salsa ranchero and Guacamole I have ever had. Felt like I was eating from Taco bell.

I stopped in last night after seeing a movie across the street. I got tacos to go and thought they were pretty decent. The tortillas were flour and tasted very fresh. The meat in both (steak, shrimp) was generous and seemed like high quality. It's not earth shattering food, but for Mexican food in midtown it's not bad.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE unless you want food poisoning. I would give zero stars if that were possible. The food took an hour to arrive, was cold, disgusting and inedible when it finally did arrive, and I threw up from the small amount that I did eat. When I called the restaurant to see if there was anything they could do and to let them know, they hung up on me. I repeat, DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. The food is terrible and they do not care about customer service.

NEVER AGAIN!!! This place is terrible. I just TRIED to eat my first order. The food is appalling. The two items that I ordered were Guacamole w/ Chips & the Chili Burrito. Firstly, the guacamole looked like cole slaw. That's NOT guacamole. It's suppose to have a smooth texture, NOT crunchy!! The burrito was mostly fine, except for the fact that I found a tiny little stem in my burrito (about the size attached to a single grape). I will NEVER order from this place again. On a side note, the staff was friendly, but I should've known at first sight that this place was not going to have good food due to its shabby appearance. Some can be diamonds in the rough, but definitely not this place!

Imagine my surprise when I set foot into the "restaurant" I was greeted with "Huang Ying Guang Ling" (Welcome! in Chinese). That was the first sign. I was convinced about coming here because of a menu slipped under our door. Cheap "Tex-Mex" food, fresh tortillas (made daily in the store!), 5.65 for a chicken burrito with everything + a free soda! (Snapples are an additional $.50) What could be better?? So we went for dinner, itching to try something cheap and hopefully tasty as hell. The order-takers and the helpers behind the counter were nice enough. They took our order and we sat down. While drinking my Orange Fanta our order came up and I was pleasantly surprised to see that though the burrito wasn't as big as I'm used to California it was still pretty heavy and of a good size. Have to admit though it doesn't come close to comparing. The chicken was good -- grilled, moist, and actually quite tasty. But everything else just had no flavor. Black beans, guac, sour cream, rice, lettuce -- nothing else had taste -- it was okay though. I put some salsa on it to give it some flavor and it was still just okay. This isn't a terrible place to go -- if you just want a cheap bite then come here! There's plenty of seating and no one to rush you. But I would try something else besides the burritos.

City wide there is a plethora of these Chinese run Mexican food establishments so I knew exactly what I was walking into... that for a good experience it just takes smarts. Don't approach it like Taqueria, approach it like a Taco Bell. What's good at TB? The gimmicks! So skip the burritos (not good and overpriced), avoid the guacamole (duh) and order the Mexican Pizza or Taco Loco. Seriously, if you're anything like me you still lament the loss of Taco Bell's Cheesy Gordita Crunch. The Taco Loco is here to take its place! Don't look at me funny! It's a crunchy taco wrapped in a melted cheese covered flour tortilla.... what's NOT to love?!

Pros: Cheap, food came quickly, chips and guac were good. Cons: Not very flavorful, tasted "asian," as far from "mexican" as possible.

  • K P.

AWFUL food. I couldn't even eat my meal after waiting an hour and a half for it to be delivered when they quoted 25-30 minutes. It's like a really crappy Asian Mexican hybrid. Also, they artificially inflate their reviews on Yelp by creating another company name with a "The" in front which ironically enough has the same address and 4.5 stars... They also put the same company name on seamless which is also deceiving. I will be disputing this charge, I can't justify paying for it.

Sometimes during my lunch I like to take long walks, and I will from time to time stop by here. I'll say this right off the bat: there are better Tex-Mex places in NYC. Hey, the carts by Our Lady of Guadelupe on 14th St. sell way better tacos. However, they do serve decent food at cheap prices. Their lunch combos, at about $7, are filling, and you can get a tortilla filled with meat for about $3. I've had no problems with the service, which is basically you order what you want at the counter, they prepare it and put it on a tray, and you walk to a table. I've never ordered delivery, so I can't say anything about it.

  • Rob L.

I love TexMex, so I had to try this place since it's near where I occasionally work on weekends. Never again... Pros: Inexpensive but still much higher than similar fare in Queens. Cons: Dirty. No Grade sign posted. Took nearly 30 minutes to make a few chili tacos because they had no ground beef cooked. They microwaved their "grilled" beef. 3 people just stood around in the kitchen while just one person did everything. Places like this are supposed to be cheap, tasty, fast, and clean. They batted 0.

I ordered two specifically vegetarian things and found two different bits of meats in my rice and beans. That kind of ended it for me. Threw out the enchiladas. I had eaten the nachos before i found out and they were ok. Nothing special. But wouldn't risk it again, thats for sure.

Beware of this place - I can't believe it has an average of 2.5 stars- but at least it is not as overrated as on Seamless- where it boasts 5 stars, which has to be fraudulent - I was tricked on Seamless and want to pass along the appropriate rating here too. I couldn't eat the Guac, the chicken was greasy, no breast meat - Nothing like a tostada should be. Steak was edible. At best a star and a half - been living in the city for a decade and this place is the worst Mexican restaurant I've had. Also, I ate at the restaurant about 5 years ago - and the quality was no better.

Very slow delivery. Cold food. Tastes nothing like Mexican food. Chipotle is way better comparing to them.

    (1)
  • Dre R.

Food is decent, beans are nasty, service is not acceptable. These people don't even know English and are always "forgetting" something. Do yourself a favor and just walk to chipotle

  • Denisse G.

Never again. Make sure you have your phone number correctly because the delivery guy is a jerk. I called to change my number since I ordered through seamless. Whomever I spoke with said they would tell the delivery guy and when I met him after some minutes of waiting he got extremely disrespectful. I was so disgusted. He's lucky I tipped beforehand. Anyway, I thought the food would be okay but its mediocre. The quesdilla wasn't even cut like what the hell? Did you guys just slap it on? Still annoyed by this 3 days later. Don't waste your time with this bland food and horrible service.

Great food and great service , loved the chicken fajitas and steak quesadillas , definitely plan on ordering out in future, also can order thru grubhub app

Middle of the road Mexican food, but then again there are no good Mexican food joints north of Oklahoma. The flavors were there, just some different ways of putting them together. They use a lot black beans, would prefer charro beans. Good fresh tortillas but salsa is weak. I order the Tex Mex encliladas. The Mexican pizza was not very good...a lot of beans.

Sometimes you just want to be bad. Not like committing a felony "bad", but bad "bad", like so "bad' it was good "bad". Why would you want to be bad? Maybe, you just had a serious workout last night and you're sore all over... But you justify to yourself that the extra set of bench presses you did at the gym last night let's you be bad. Or that new kettlebell exercise really trimmed some fat. Or that you have some leeway after just getting a salad for lunch. The little devil inside you gets his voice magnified when your muscles betray you and scream at you to FEED THEM, NOW. And you know what compounds all the voices, pains, lack of foresight? You're working late and you have a $25 seamless budget. You go on Fresh Tortillas's page and, with your dinner allocation, you feel like a NBA superstar at the strip club. You're about to make it rain. A specialty combo here. Some soft shell steak tacos there. An extra al carbon guacamole taco, too! Maybe even throw in some nachos. It doesn't matter, you've only spent like 50% of your budget. You tip and submit your order. It arrives in a timely manner. There are two bags worth of food that you have to pick up in the lobby. You run into someone you know in the elevator and you see them looking at you suspiciously. Before you realize it was your guilt playing mind tricks on you, you stammer, "Oh you know, dinner for the whole group..." You unpack everything and you realize the value you just scored. You unpack everything and your dinner bags start to feel like clown cars. Whatever, no one notices you anyway. You proceed to chow down. The food isn't half bad, maybe a step up from Taco Bell, but there's nothing wrong with being a step up from Taco Bell when you want to be BAD.

Needed a quick bite after a late night grocery shopping trip and found The toritilla people as the only option for real food. We ordered chips with salsa and a burrito. Nothing fancy, pretty standard but very fast service (5 minutes). I liked the food enough I just wish it was seasoned a bit more. I wouldn't consider this place a sit down type of place, but it fits the bill for take out and delivery in the neighborhood.

Gross! The vegetarian tacos are bland and inedible. They only have one or two ingredients and the vegetables were soggy (and not fresh).

Was craving a chicken burrito, and thought I'd give this a chance. I ordered a chicken burrito and a steak soft shell taco. The meat of the steak taco tasted really gamey, making me wonder if it was something between goat or lamb. The chicken burrito had this odd taste in it, and came in a really compact round shape. The chicken was not visible, though I could taste it. I could also taste how burnt it was. I will never order from here again.

We order tacos etc. here at least once a month and have them delivered. Flour tortillas are handmade. Basic tex-mex tacos at a very reasonable price. Delivery is fast and this beats taco bell hands down. Not a lot of additional flavor but solid tex-mex. We like them!

One desperate night, I went on Seamless and ordered from The Original Fresh Tortillas. I could have gone with Moe's or Chipotle's but decided that I would try a "cheaper" alternative that had a delivery time of less than 30-45 minutes. You'd be STUPID if you were expecting top-notch Mexican/Tex Mex food and would recommend taking basic courses on managing expectations!!!! I guess I was stupid. We ordered the 1. chicken & rice side and 2. a steak, rice, tortilla entree that comes with a little bit of guacamole and iceberg lettuce you can use to make tiny burritos for yourself. Complaints- 1. I would highly recommend to get steak and not the chicken. The chicken was salty and very dry. After a few pieces of chicken, we could not have any more. The steak is a much better option, imo. 2. The yellow rice is almost like a basmatic rice, so it's not as soft as the type of rice you would normally find in a burrito. And WHY DOES IT STINK? It wreaks of canola oil and you can just smell it coming out of the styrofoam container. I couldn't eat much of it because it also leaves a very oily film in your mouth. 3. The guacamole was bitter. And it wasn't because it was a fresh homemade batch with one too many squeezed limes, it was obviously a packaged guacamole that they purchased form a distributor, which may or may not have gone bad because it wasn't handle properly. Try it out, I dare you!

Great taco's and they have real home made tortillas! It is a dive, but the food is great - AND they will deliver to the west side! I am from out west and it is hard to get the homemade tortillas and real Mexican food.

I had a shrimp loco taco and a shrimp fajita, as well as a side of black beans. All that for a delivery near Port Authority (in the NYT building) for 11 bucks with 15% tip. I'd say its pretty good value. Taste-wise, I'd recommend you skip it the next time around. The shrimp was seasoned pretty well, but it was a bit sea smelling for my taste... frequent seafoodies and others may know what I'm talking about- others, maybe not. I thought the fajita was better than the loco taco but I used the second layer burrito outside the taco to eat my black beans with. The beans were good, but I mean, you can't really mess up on black beans? I should have trusted the reviews on Yelp and not just relied on the ones from seamless web! Although, delivery was fast and food was good, there are just SO many other NYC options for me to repeat. But, try the fajita out since I did enjoy it.

Your average, run of the mill Tex-Mex cuisine prepared to order by Asian folks. This place is good, not great, and their prices are fair for NYC. Nothing on the menu is going to blow you away, but nothing will disappoint either. And just like all the others, they are very stingy with the sour cream and salsa. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but it's worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

It's kind of hit and miss with Mexican food in NYC. I'm from Texas, so I have a bit of a higher standard. I'm very surprised to see the low ratings here, though. The delivery took about 40 minutes, which was about 10 minutes longer than the estimated time, but I barely noticed. PROS: I ordered a tostada and these guys are SMART! They package the meat/onions and cheese in a separate aluminum foil package, which ensures the hot food stays hot and cool vegetables stay cold, with the added bonus of keeping the shell crispy! GENIUS. Why other places don't institute this practice, I will never know. The food was tasty! The chicken was seasoned well, the vegetables were fresh (lettuce crispy). The only disappointment was the guacamole. It looked nice, but was extremely bland. And the prices are fantastic. I ordered a Chicken Fajita Tostada, Chicken Taco, Chips and Guac for about $12. You can't beat that!

I wasn't expecting much, but this even fell below my low expectations. I wasn't expecting top notch meat quality but I got the figurative and maybe literal a$$ of the chicken. All gristle and tendons. The produce is poor, there was not even a hint of green on my lettuce. There are more authentic cheap Mexicans places near by , learn. Fromm everyone's mistakes on here. Stay away

You get what you pay for, and you know that going in. It's very inexpensive, basic and quick. Skip the rice and beans. The grilled meat tacos are what I would expect from this place, maybe even better. Two grilled beef and two grilled chicken tacos, sides of chile con carne, guac, and extra tortillas for under $20. While not authentic or especially tasty, it's still decent. I'd go back.

As a late night moment of weakness, I decided to order from this place to avoid braving the cold. My friends had ordered delivery from this place many times before and assured me that the food was good. The menu is extensive and generic as far as Mexican places go, so I ordered a chicken quesadilla and chicken enchiladas with a Coke. I placed my order over the phone and waited about 20 minutes for my food. The delivery guy was gracious and polite, called and waited for me in the lobby of my building. The food itself is another story. Firstly, the enchiladas were more like chicken fajitas, grilled chicken (poor quality judging by the amount of gristle) with undercooked peppers and onions wrapped in tortillas and smothered in melted cheese with no enchilada sauce. The mexican rice was comparable to the boxed stuff and for some reason the beans were hiding underneath and the guacamole was layered on top. Not bad just a bit confusing logic. The quesadilla, again the chicken being my main issue, was as I expected but nothing exciting. And sour cream and fresh(?) salsa were provided. And while it wasn't bad, per se, (the tortillas were the only redeeming factor, fluffy with good flavor) it didn't merit a repeat visit. Kind of a shame because the service and prices are excellent. I just wish the quality of the food was better.

  • Pete S.

Place is bad. Meat is poorly seasoned and dry. Enchiladas are like eating a mouth full of sawdust. Straight-up dehydrates your mouth. Cheese tastes bland. Only reason why I give it two stars is that it's a decent value. But I'm gonna avoid it if I can. How does this place have 5 stars on seamless?

Love the simplicity, freshness, speed and taste of this place. I am pregnant and very picky with that I can eat and omg, i was pleasantly surprised. i am the kind that would go to Texas, the midwest just to have great Mexican food. I love their food. i had the steak and cheese soft shell taco. i am so in love. the flavor wasnt over powering or fake... i love the fact that yelp exist so that places like this spot can get reviewed. i am still confused about the negative reviews but i am sold! i know my toddler will also love thisspot.
