Great Restaurant!! Always a very good choice with a fabulous view. The food always delicious, the service very good! We love the bar area inside. And Tiki in good weather is always fun!!!

We went in for the pre-fix menu, and the food and sangria was very good. The service on the other hand was poor. The waiter took our order and we did not see him again until 20 min after or entrees were cleared from the table. The bus people and the manager came by more than he did to see how everything was. I know he was around, because he was helping tables around us and apparently ignoring us. I might go back to try it again, but crappy service like this leaves an impression.

Nice place with beautiful setting. I went on Easter Sunday which is always a bit hectic so I am adjusting for that (and the glass of wine a bus lady spilled on me). But the food and service were excellent. I had the surf and turf with lobster and chateaubriand (exceptional tender cut). The steak and lobster were excellent, as was the asparagus, carrots and potatoes; cooked to perfection. They also serve a very large Martini - which is a great value at $12. The staff was very attentive and they really made up for the wine spill incident. I will return.

Haven't tried the restaurant, however during the summer they have a Tiki Bar which is absolutely incredible! The view of the harbor is stunning especially during sunset. They do offer food out here and I was quite surprised to find out they had some pretty spiffy drink specials, Bucket O' Beers 5 for $20 not bad at all. Def a great summer spot to check out!

After reading the reviews I was very hesitant , ended up going here anyway. At first we saw the outside patio seating facing the water I was thrilled we got a table and ordered drinks. Looking at the menu I didn't see the full list featured on their site! I asked the server about that, he said for the full menu you'd have to sit inside. Well that is not what I expected. We decided to go inside. Beautiful decor modern and welcoming. We were seated after a few brief minutes. Greeted by 2 lovely servers. We started out with drinks forgot the names, one was called cheesecake! It was just horrible, the other drink was delicious dark chocolate with rum. Main dish Filet minion was well done the way I asked, they can definitely improve on the taste maybe add pepper crust to add to the taste buds. Presentation wasn't impressive. The mashed potatoes was tasty. Here's the bottom line (1)Love the patio view of the water! (2) you should offer the same menue inside or outside. (3)food can use a 360 degree makeover, from the presentation to taste. (4)prices do not match the quality of the food. Mediocre not impressed. You guys have the potential to change and deserve a second chance. The servers did an excellent job wouldn't change a thing. I hope you read the reviews on here and hire a new Chef who actually changes the way things are done. Would come back if invited and looking forward to a better experience.

Pri-fixed Menu $25 Appetizer: -Mussels: in tomato sauce - a big portion and pretty good! I enjoyed the tomato based broth Entree: -Stuffed chicken with spaghetti - chicken was stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella, and other cheese over a plate of spaghetti - it was OK. the spaghetti was really bland. Dessert: -Tiramisu - the presentation looked better than it tasted - lacking in coffee taste Tea/Coffee The people who ordered the blackened mahi mahi with coconut rice raved about it, so this must be the good dish! I guess it was my fault for ordering a chicken dish at a seafood restaurant. My bad... Service: slow! .. needs improvement.. On a positive note, you get a beautiful view of the marina!

I never in my entire life have encountered such a rude bartender than I had at Marina Cafe at the outside bar. There are no words for her actions and attitude and her "bitch face." My friends all left because of it but my bf and I Stayed because it was to late for us to find another spot on SI to eat. We not from Staten Island and I'm not sure if this is a Staten Island behavior thing. Anyway We went to their inside bar hoping it would be different and it was slightly better. We ate there and the food was pretty good, we liked their dragon shrimp app.

The Marina Cafe is a beautiful restaurant, located in a beautiful spot right on the water. I've been here twice and my first experience was better than the last. My husband recently made dinner reservations for us and when we arrived, they did not have a table which was a little disappointing. We waited for about 15-20 minutes by the bar until we were seated. The amount of time we waited would be more appropriate for someone who did not call ahead to make a reservation. The bar area seems nice, except that they had live music which was overwhelmingly loud and not that good. My husband and I are young and we don't mind loud music but this was a little over the top for a restaurant (we could barely hear each other). Once we were seated, I think we had to ask for water or silverware. There was something pretty basic missing I just can't recall what it was. Our waiter was a little hard to get a hold of since it was busy but we were able to get what we needed after a little wait. The food itself, is very good. We both enjoyed our appetizer and entrees. I believe we both had penne with vodka sauce and shrimp. I was a little disappointed though when our entrees were brought out while we were still eating the appetizer. It was probably about 2-3 minutes after we started. My plate was taken from me while I was still chewing. Overall, we felt very rushed and uncomfortable. I feel bad because my first experience here was definitely better than this one. The last thing anyone wants is to feel rushed out the door while they are trying to enjoy a night out. We may come back again, we may not. The food is great but keep in mind that reservations don't necessarily mean you'll be seated right away and you might be rushed to finish your food.

I went here for a baby shower recently and the food was very good. The tiki bar is popping on a Friday night 25 and older usually. I've been to the tiki the other day and I will admit the bartender was the only nice staff member she kept checking on us, but the girl at the entrance, the hostess, was too busy talking to her hot co-worker about stupid nonsense and she had us standing there for a good minute or 2, and the place was not busy, bc it was on a Tuesday about happy hour time. Also all the guys that work here are extremely attractive so added bonus for us ladies ;)

People should not be forced to sit at the bar for just desserts and coffee. That is totally absurd. It's a restaurant and they should be accommodating to ALL customers that wish to dine at their tiki bar establishment. As far as I'm concerned they just lost a pair of customers.

I just got back from an impromptu lunch with my mom and daughter. We showed up with no reservation, and there was no problem. We were seated right by the window for the best view of the pier. Food was amazing. I had the Veal Milanese, which was outstanding with the veal melting in my mouth. Portion was so big, I had to take home the second piece of veal. My mom had the fish and chips and said the fish was nice and crispy, but light which she loved. My daughter had the salmon and enjoyed it very much. Prices were good, and I'm glad we chose to go to the Marina Cafe.

I honestly am so disappointed if I could give this place a zero I would !!! I always loved the marina especially since I use to work there and know the food is delicious and service always good but never again will I give them my business!!! I drove all the way from Brooklyn with my 10 years old nephew and they turned us away because the kitchen closed at 9:00.. It was 9:15 and the website clearly stated 11:00...how do you turn away a kid and 2 adults that drove all the way from Brooklyn!!! My nephew was so disappointed and for that NEVER AGAIN!!! Shame on you !!! At least try and accommodate us, doesn't take much to make a kid chicken fingers and fries !!! You could buy a whole new bar and restaurant but obviously all that FEMA MONEY CANT BUY YOU CLASS!!!! So disappointed !!!

It's unfortunate to have to write this because I used to really like this place. While the food is usually very good...the staff is extremely rude. Everyone really seems to have an air about them that they are better than their customers. Save your self some aggravation and go to Coles or Fiore De Mar, while they are not right on the water, you'll be treated much nicer, and enjoy great meals too.

Okay this is just another typical Staten Island establishment. Nothing special about it, but I got my beer quick. I'm not a smoker,so when I go to a place that I think is non-smoking, I prefer not getting smoke blown in my face! There's a guy sitting by a pole and right above his head is a sign that says no smoking, guess what he was smoking a cigarette! Just the typical attitude of people that don't know how to follow the rules. I hear the bartenders give out glasses so people could put there cigarette butts out??? Anyhow we drank a beer and left! I know why my friends and I prefer to party at home!

Everything seafood was pretty good, sangria was very fruity which can become overwhelming, and the baked clams were seasoned nicely, just needed a touch more to keep them moist and possibly use larger clams bc some of them were just tiny.

This a review from our experience on September 3rd. We had a lovely time. We celebrated my dad's 80th birthday. We had a party of 12 and were lucky enough to get their private room, right off the main dining area. This was great as it was a glass enclosed room. Big plus, Wednesday nights, 25% off all the wines. I started with the tuna tar tar and had the filet mignon for my entree. Many of our guests had the surf and turf which they all enjoyed. I would certainly return. The service was excellent.

Horrible place. Great atmosphere, but the staff ruin it. They are all snooty and stuck up. Have to wave and wave at the bartender to get another drink. Got lobster salad, and it had many shells in it. Staff look and act like they're bella butanes and really don't want to work there. It's really ashame because I could walk here from my house, but will not be returning. I tried three times. I'm done. Customers do NOT come first.

This is a tough one to write: a place I've been patronizing since my teen years; in its previous incarnation private family functions were celebrated with gusto, great food, service and libations. Tonight, my Aunt and Uncle chose this as my "farewell" dinner spot ending a wonderful trip home to NY. Staten Island residents, they were thrilled to see the restaurant return after being decimated by Hurricane Sandy. Things have changed, and not for the better. The hostess seemed annoyed we did not have a reservation, though the dining room was empty (it did fill up shortly after our arrival) The Prix Fixe and A La Carte menus seemed promising. Wrong. Neither my Grey Goose and soda nor my Uncle's Dewar's and water seemed "right" and when we told the serving assistant, he said "okay." Errr, I requested a wine list, it stayed by my side throughout the meal (I asked to order and nobody took my selection) We had to ask for water and never received refills. The food: - Two of us were underwhelmed by the tiny baked clams, bland at best. - The Caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers was the best dish of the night. - Salmon was mushy and bland and risotto an epic fail. - Lobster "Arraviata" (?) was overpowered by garlic and olive oil, broccoli rabe its saving grace. (and came with a $6 upcharge for the crustaceans and $4 for gluten free pasta) - Veal Parmesan was huge, my Uncle said it was okay. He did enjoy the marinara. You might be wondering why we did not send back our dinner? Nobody came to the table or inquired after our meals until we ordered dessert. Spumoni = forgettable Tortoni = okay Tiramisu = Aunt described as "the most bland I've ever tasted." They were both disappointed in an old favorite, and I felt bad my "goodbye" meal was such a fail on drinks, service and taste. Two stars are for the view of the harbor and bright dining room. Not one to leave reviews merely to slam a place...they need to work on food, service and attention to detail; the beautiful setting is not enough. Local residents of 25+ years, my family doesn't plan a return visit "anytime soon." Hope they can fix their issues; they came back from being under 9 feet of water and the devastation of Sandy...anything is possible in New York.

This place has a great bar atmosphere It is also a great place to sit down and eat a great meal for dinner Even though the menu is mostly seafood and which it should be given the name and location They still have enough items on. The menu for people who don't like seafood I highly recommend this place for a great meal and a great atmosphere You will not be disappointed here This place is a little expensive though

After our evening at Medieval Times with a quick jaunt to Barcade in Jersey City, we dropped off one of our friends on Staten Island. Mike had the idea to call his cousin, an SI native, to see if he was around for a quick visit. As it turned out, Joe was a few blocks away at The Marina Cafe and invited us to join him and his friends. While we only popped by for a little, I always enjoy being on the water, DJs playing good music, and summer nights with family and friends, and Marina Cafe was a great place for those things. I definitely would like to return and have dinner there, and take in the view of the waterfront and the boats once again.

I will never again go to the Tiki Bar for dinner.. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Even after moving to NJ, I would constantly make plans to go to this restaurant with friends. Most of the time we would just have drinks and an appetizer. The Sangria is delicious! However, the new outside menu is terrible. So we can choose appetizers, sandwiches or salads. What happened to the entrees you used to offer for people who wanted dinner? I asked the waitress for a dish that I always order off the menu and was told she would ask if they could get it for me. She returned to inform me that they couldn't do the pasta outside right now.. I'm obviously a regular if I specifically asked for a dish and most places would accommodate a request from a customer. I would've left to go somewhere else but we had already ordered a pitcher of Sangria and an appetizer. So now after only two drinks and sharing two small fried appetizers, I'm still hungry but I feel sick and dizzy. Don't expect a nice dinner outside anymore.

Planned a shower with about 50 people. Price quoted was not honored. Also they only accept cash for events, so when something like this happens, you as a customer have no one to back you up. Paid for wine and sangria, only received sangria, was only give an unfelt apology as if it were my fault. Will never give this restaurant any more business

I decided to visit Marina Cafe, Tiki Bar again since last years' negative experiences. I must say, these guys are really trying to turn things around this year. Despite being quite busy, the service has become much improved. Food comes out faster, and the quality is better. Burgers are unfortunately almost never cooked right with the temperature, and lately, when I've been ordering medium and medium-rare, but was getting well done several visits in a row, but the meat is good decent. Please tell your chef about the temp on the meat and keep up the good work!

I have been to this restaurant several times. Each time the service became worst. But food was never an issue. I booked a reservation for 7 at 6:30 pm tonight. I walked in at 6:25 and told receptionist we were there. She told us we had to wait because they were busy. (No business being in customer service. She was extremely rude )We sat at bar and after 45 minutes we were seated. Waiter order our drinks and decide to come back 20 minutes to take our order. Then it took 1 hour to bring entrees 4 out of 7 , then 15 minutes later the other 3 came. Now 4 out of 7 people are sick, I will never return to this restaurant. Poor customer service and the quality of good was terrible

Simply put, this place has all the makings of a Great Dinning Experience , this place has the balance of it all. Some places you pay for either the food, the view, the quantity and some places the location and service. On my night out, I took my date out for her Birthday Diner, and I must say she walked away impressed as did I. The food, the service and the location (which gives a beautiful view) were all spot on, and worth every penny. The Seafood Risotto, was to die for and made my salmon take a backseat which I though wasn't going to be possible. The food , the view, the service the upscale ambience was all worth it. If your looking for a seafood place out on the Island then I would recommend this place, Im looking forward to going back soon.

So here's my updated review - TERRIBLE. I really wanted to love Marina Cafe because of it's beautiful location on the water and because it's a neighborhood spot. My boyfriend really didn't want to go but after a few minutes of trying to convince, he settled. I should of just listened to him. This is the first time I've been in after the renovations.. tacky tacky tacky. It looks like they are trying to copy South Fin except it looks worse. Horrible ambiance inside. - First negative the bar is decent looking, tacky and older looking although it was just renovated. I ordered a $9 tasteless sangria and it was terrible. One piece of orange? really? nice sangria! Second... we go to sit down.. and for some reason my boyfriend and I feel like we are in the middle of chaos, which apparently we were. Glasses were constantly being dropped and broken, clearly amateur waitstaff.. our waiter came over after 10 minutes of sitting, with no water. Wonderful. After giving us the menus, not realizing that he gave me the lunch instead of dinner I stated what I wanted and he replied with "oh I'm sorry that's the lunch menu". By this time my boyfriend was ready to leave. I wanted to give them one last chance. Our waiter came back after another 10 minutes and handed us the dinner menu, and than never came back. After 15 minutes my boyfriend was furious so we just left. Marina Cafe is nothing how I remember it growing up.. def will not be coming back in the future!

Parking is valet. Or you can park on the street. Nice seafood restaurant especially if it's for a romantic occasion. I enjoyed everything served from the wine to the appetizers and hot bread on the table. We had lobster which I considered good (by US) standards. The best lobster is served in the carribean . Nice view of the bay and drinks on the outdoor deck where you can watch the sun go down. Love this place.

I would come back. It is a beautiful spot. The inside Marina Bar is formal and the outside Tiki bar is casual. We sat at the Tiki bar. They serve on paper plates, so beware on windy days. We ordered the wild mushroom truffle pizza, fish tacos and nachos. The food was reasonable for the prices. Atmosphere is great. Kid friendly outside. Bob Marley music and right on marina gives it the tropical feel. The bathroom was verry dirty though. There was a lady cleaning it though, so idk if she just started cleaning.

I wish I could give 0 out of 5 stars because they don't even deserve 1 star. What a poorly managed and organized place!! Before I get to the main points I have to make, I would like to say that the only reason I gave them 4 stars on the last update is because they tried super hard to impress me and the manager, Rose, even mentioned that she read my 1 star review and asked if I could change it. But paid no attention to my brother who was sitting with me. Is that not a fake service? Only trying to be nice to the person who has the power to change a review online. The owner needs to open his or her eyes and get a grip on this place and fire the incompetent wait staff ( there is this one guy there who is truly a great waiter but unfortunately I forgot his name) including the manager or mangers who are running this place into the ground. They basically have a fantastic location overlooking the water and marina but everything else is awful. Ok, getting to the day in question. As usual me and my brother came to the tiki bar for a nice relaxing time to get a beer and some food. Unfortunately, once again, this place fails to deliver (literally). It took over 5 minuets for the waitress to come greet us and get our drink order and another maybe 10 minuets for her to bring them to us even though the bar and the dinning area was not even half full. As soon as this waitress wannabe brings our drinks she immediately said she was busy and couldn't get the drinks to us. What?! First of all, there's no excuses why your service is lacking. Second of all I really don't care how busy you are, I am a paying customer and deserve a great service regardless without any excuses and if something does arise you apologize to the customer and accommodate their needs. Take a breather the worst is yet to come... After finally getting our drinks we placed our food order of 2-3 apps and an entree each. The waitress asked if we want everything to come out at once or separately. Who asks that? Do you really want to serve your customers like pigs all at once and make them rush out of there? The apps come first, followed by a few minuets break, a refill of the drinks if needed, then the entrees. That's firing an order 101 in the waiter training manual. Both my brother and I told her to serve whatever is ready 1st. and we wait.... About 30 minuets go by and nothing. We have to look for our waitress and flag her down to ask about our food. The table next to us came 10 minuets after us and already been served the same apps that we ordered. She pretty much with an attitude said that we told her to serve it all at once. What?! NO! We finally get our food all at once and like pigs have to eat quickly to enjoy the hot food and.... The brick oven pizza that was mentioned on the menu was not a pizza it was a flat bread. Even the receipt said FB, which I assume stands for flat bread! Ever hear of truth in menu laws? You are deceiving your customers! The food overall was eh..so so at best. The burger was medium when I ordered medium rare, the fries lacked a very important ingredient...SALT and the rest of the dishes escaped my memory they were so bland and boring. Ever hear of seasoning as you cook? Our waitress became MIA after we asked where our food was and another guy took over doing a great job. Then she has the audacity to come with a check after we asked another guy to get it for us and asked us how everything was. Final word: HORRIBLE!! Just a little about my background. I have graduated from the world renowned Culinary Institute of America majoring in culinary arts and hospitality management. I have run and managed a multimillion dollar bread bakery, worked in super five star hotels and now own two retail businesses. I know a thing or two about great customer service and fine dinning. Coming from my personal and professional experience this place lacks both memorable food dishes along with hospitable, genuine, and knowledgeable waitstaff and managers. I will definitely not be coming back to this place and inform others to follow suit as well. The only way I will step foot back there is if the owner would like a professional consultation on the changes needed to make this a truly remarkable place for people to come and enjoy themselves.

I went here last night for the first time since the Hurricane. It was even better than I remembered. They clearly put a LOT of money into the renovations. The decor was similar to what it used to look like but it was updated and they made it more spacious. The bar area has been expanded to create more of a lounge area with some small tables. The food was excellent!! Our party of four split orders of calamari and mozzarella "coins", which were small mozzarella en carozza. The calamari was light and crispy. The mozzarella was the best I've had. The shell was so crispy, it wasn't soggy or super bread-y. The mozzarella was perfectly melted. The marinara that accompanied it was very tasty with a slightly spicy kick. I ordered the rack of lamb as my entree, which was $34 but worth every penny. It was perfectly cooked, super tender and juicy. It was encrusted in a mustard rub, which sometimes overpowered the naturally beautiful taste of the meat, but it was still great. The meal came with Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes that were slightly chunky and very savory. I ate every piece of food on my plate. The service was excellent. Our food came quickly, they kept an eye on our drinks and refilled our waters before they were empty. We also were seated in the main dining room during sunset on a clear day so it doesn't get better than that. Finally, the manager (I think that's who he is) was pure class. My mother in law had a gift card that she'd received right before the Hurricane. She couldn't find the receipt that had come with it, but she thought it had either $50 or $100. She asked the staff to check the balance, but they had lost all their records in the storm. The manager put $75 back on the card, which he didn't have to do. It was very nice of them and shows how they value their customers. I highly highly recommend Marina!

If I was on death row I'd request my last meal from here. The seafood is excellent! The appetisers were great, the drinks were perfect, and the desserts to die for! Also a huge variety of different coffees! Loved it!

Last Saturday was one of the first beautiful days of spring and we wanted to eat outside or at least have a view of it, so the waterfront came to mind and we made our first trip to the Marina Cafe since it reopened after Sandy. We really liked the make over, Marina Cafe now has a modern classy feel. When you walk in there's a large and stylish bar and tables for cocktails. We had the drink special the Tipsy Palmer, try it. In the main dinning room they have a huge wall of windows and we sat were we had a great view of the Great Kills Harbor and the few boats that were docked this early in the season. For appetizers we tried the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and the Tuna Tartar and they both arrived nicely plated & were delicious. We also ordered the Special Calamari, which came in a thick & heavy red sauce that we didn't appreciate, but that was more of personal preference. For dinner there was Seafood Alforno, The lobster was tender and the scallops & shrimp were very good all in a white wine sauce. I had a delectable Rack of Lamb w/ a mustard oreganato seasoning. The service throughout our evening was Top Notch, maybe the best on Staten Island.

On Monday night, I threw my mom a surprise 65th birthday/retirement dinner; there were 22 of us in total. In the past, we have celebrated many family functions here, so I was very excited to return. Here goes: 1) In advance, I spoke to a manager to discuss menu options and we agreed to Limited Prix Fixe menu. I made sure that we could alter certain dishes to meet the needs of 3 of us who have dietary restrictions (gluten/dairy issues). I was told this could absolutely be done, and that the gluten free pasta would be an additional $4.00. No problem! So I was shocked and disturbed when the waiter was giving us a hard time when ordering simple appetizers/entrees (ex: pasta with plain marinara sauce, plain salad, etc). The waiter had a big attitude and told me that I was "changing the menu" when I had explained that I spoke to manager and was assured that this wouldn't be a problem. There was also an issue with the Family Style appetizers and the only vegetarian option (which is what we needed!) was never brought out to the table! When I asked about this, I couldn't even understand his answer. He wasn't making any sense. It was very frustrating and upsetting, but I remained calm because I didn't want the guest of honor to sense there was any issues. Basically, my husband, cousin, and I didn't get to eat any appetizers or salad. Again, we are being charged $25-$30 per person plus an extra charge for "changing the menu" by ordering plain sauce with our pasta for only eating 1 bowl of pasta each. Unacceptable! 2) Sangria. I approved 2 pitchers of sangria and when I got the bill at the end of the night, I saw we were charged for 5 pitchers. None of this was approved by me; the waiters must have kept the sangria flowing without asking me. There were at least 2 full pitchers on the table when the bill arrived. Shady! 3) Time for dessert! I spoke with the head waiter to confirm that we were having the Limited Prix Fixe dessert and only wanted to offer the guests what were included in that, which was : coffee or tea. He said he understood, and within a few minutes, I notice that my guests are being offered cappuccino !!! He is not mentioning it would cost extra, and again, I did NOT approve this. Was I supposed to go around and tell my guests "NO, you can't order that?!!" No. It was HIS responsibility to just offer what was included on our menu. 7 people ordered cappuccinos and I was charged extra for that!!! I also brought my own cake and was charged $22 for them to cut it ($1 per plate). No one told me they would charge to cut the cake; I would have cut it myself! When I got the bill, I realized that I had been charged about $200-$250 extra than what I anticipated, all because of the waiter's shady and unacceptable behavior. Did he think I wouldn't notice? Did he want a bigger tip (since it's included with large parties)? Maybe I wouldn't have felt so bad if 2 of my guests and I weren't treated so poorly when trying to order food that we could eat, and if I had actually gotten to eat more than just a small bowl of pasta. I left starving, and angry. I'm an easy going person and DID NOT want to make a scene, so I left without talking to a manager. Who even knows what else I was charged extra for! I did call the next day to voice my concerns about the experience I had. I spoke to a manager, Pat, and he seemed to completely understand where I was coming from and mentioned that he would talk to the staff about these issues to make sure they don't happen in the future. I thought he might give me a partial refund for being taking advantage of with the sangria and cappuccinos, and for the rude treatment, but he did not. Instead, he offered to send me a gift card. I just got the gift card in the mail today and it's for $25... Not even enough to cover one meal at their restaurant!! I am SOOOOOO disappointed, feel that I was taken advantage of, and will never recommend this place to anyone.

The marina cafe is always leaving my belly very happy. I experienced a great dinner inside the restaurant and outside at the tiki. Inside is more of a dressy type scene. There is a glass window inside all over so you are able to see outside and the marina while you eat. I had penne vodka and it was delicious. The peach sangria was amazing as well. Although inside is nice, on a beautiful spring or summer day/ night I prefer to eat outside. There is a raised patio in the tiki area that over looks all the boats and water while you eat. I have ordered many things from fish to chicken and was never disappointed. Their new pizza is amazing as well. ESP to share as an app. After sandy the outside area was redone. The bar is now a wrap around bar rather than the little tiki it used to be. You can be on all sides of the bar to have the bartenders attention. The bathrooms are the most changed thing. Previously it used to be in a trailer mobile thing. Now there is an actual house in the main entrance that has bathrooms. If your Looking for a quiet dinner I suggest you come on a weeknight. There is a DJ on the weekends and he plays for the loud music but he does not come until later. All in all you will love this place. Oder the watermelon sangria. Pretty delicious !

Not sure why they even bothered to open after Sandy. They should have used the insurance money and built something else or stop serving food there. The food is forgettable and always seems to be an issue with something. It always takes forever to eat, the waiters always forget something and the management is just shady and unprofessional. Skip it...

A buddy and i sailed here. We got off the dock and saw so many tattoos, I thought I entered a comic book. Guidos is the keyword here. The food was pretty bad. Their filet of sole tasted more my shoe's sole. I had their lobster, if lobster could come out of a can, this is what it would taste like. Awful. The waiter was completely illiterate and had not yet mastered the English language as he never heard of the letter R. Lobsta, waita, papah, etc. In any event the service sucked...oh and the hostess is a Tuesday, Wednesday And Thursday.

This review is long overdue and I hate to give this place such a high rating as a one star. First let's agree the food is less than mediocre. But besides that, my family and I went there on a beautiful summer day and we sat outside. Our server was impaired in some way And after almost waiting 3 hours for our food we finally walked out without paying for our drinks. We asked several times as to what was going on. And considering not Even the manager knew we were quite respectful. I really believe the server was on drugs. As time went on she became more incoherent. We came another night for outdoor drinks. There were 2 fights with hair Pulling and punches. Jeez! Made me feel it just must be the element management portrays. It's a shame ownership doesn't do more. Take some pride in what you do.

Stopped here again on our way through SI. Had a drink at the bar and dessert. Kind service and easy going atmosphere. Chocolate cake was perfect. I find it odd that my previous review was put in the "not recommended" category, along with about 40 other good reviews for this establishment.

I'll give this place three stars for the outdoor area- my review will be based on my experience dining outdoors. On a warm summer evening, this was the perfect backdrop for a night out. The food was delicious, but the service was very average- the waitresses rarely came by, never even asked if we needed a refill for drinks or any condiments, and we had to wait forever for the bill. I wasn't pleased at all win the rare and often slow service, and even found the waitresses chatting amongst each other on my way out. I also think the menu could be expanded and diversified. The crab drakes appetizers were good, and the margarita pizza was delicious too. My friend also enjoyed their burger.

The Marina has been around forever. I remember being a kid and ordering lobster and escargo and having the waiter give me a weird look like her heard me speak differently. Throughout the years, my family would come for special occasion means, private parties, My high school would host dinners here, etc. Nice seafood dinners here. Tiki bar was hip, not sure if it is anymore.

The Tiki Bar is a great spot right by the water, helpful staff, imaginative menu (food) but you pay a premium for lunch served in plastic dishes and glasses. Would I return? Only in the sun.

Had dinner Sunday afternoon- wait staff was attentive- bread was good- had filet medallions and shrimp- only was given 2 or 3 shrimp and meat was NOT filet mignon- meat was very thin and over cooked-wife had chicken and she was not happy- friend had vodka sauce and it was ok- would have been ok if it was Applebee's but prices tell me it's not

4 stars for the food but if we're talking about the summer atmosphere I'd go with 2 stars. My rating will be 3 stars to meet in the middle. It's nice to be down by the water with a view of the boats docked and a nice sunset with some fresh seafood. They have delicious crab cakes, caesar salad and lobster. They also host very nice private parties. If you come on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday during the warmer months it's a totally different place. Every Staten Island jerk you'd like to avoid is there, it's a 2 hour wait for the restaurant and the white wine comes out of a gun. You'll see middle aged women in booty shorts and heels and greasy men in tank tops showing off their tattoos. I'd rather go to Cole's Dockside which is walking distance for a better experience and better crowd.

A group of us came here for dinner. The Hispanic looking waiter seemed so annoyed at us when taking our order. We all ordered filets. He brought the steaks out and put them on the table without saying a word. When we asked which one was the rare and medium etc. he replied, "why don't you cut them and check." And he said this with a smile on his face. I kid you not. Unbelievable. We went to call the manager/owner but none were available. I've been here a couple times before but will never come back after this time. Ridiculous

I have always come to the Marina Cafe but was not able to for the past year due to them being shuttered from Hurricane Sandy. Well they are back and better than ever. All of my favorite dishes are back in full effect and the restaurant itself is just wonderful. They pulled out all of the stops on there re-built restaurant. You really need to see for yourself - pictures don't do it justice. If you are looking for a great outdoor spot in the summer - then the Marina tiki deck is a great spot. I do avoid the crazy nights like Thursdays to avoid the meatballs (no not the food lol) and Friday and Saturdays can get packed but sometimes i venture there. Great atmosphere and just an overall good vibe for a group of friends and a bucket of Coronas! Some food reccomendations: Italian egg rolls yummo! For lunch they have a prime rib sandwich on garlic bread that is a delicious lunch option. I often get the filet mignon for dinner and it is on the money!

Went to Tiki Island Saturday night with a group of friends. Loved the view, loved the music and I have to mention the staff is friendly and profession from the bartender to the valet attendant. I would definetly go back. It's nice not to have to drive to the Jersey to shore to enjoy sea-side views, dining and outdoor music.

Went there last night for the bar scene. Really nice place with dj but the place closed at midnight! There were a bunch of people at the bar but the bar tenders Rudely starting asking everyone to pay there tabs. We also tried to order food at the bar for a good 40 minutes and could never get one of the bar tenders to pay attention. I probably won't come back unless I go at happy hour time.

nothing special here. So many better places on Staten Island to chose from. Food is decent, but service sub par.

  • Kathy G.

All I have to say is, if you're a woman don't expect to be served at the bar. The girls behind the tiki bar are very rude and favor male customers. I tip just as well as the men if not better. I've been here multiple times and have been ignored by these bartenders and barely had any alcohol put in my drink. I even tried to nicely ask one of the girls what drink she was making because it looked good and she didn't even look up at me. I know she heard me. An older gentleman was standing next to me and noticed how rude she was being. He was watching her pour my drink and told me how messed up it was bc he saw her only pouring a splash of alcohol in the glass. There drinks are already overpriced for Staten Island. At the least, I expect there to be more than a drop of alcohol in my drink. The place itself is very nice; there are always lots of people hanging out. The staff just really needs to be trained at better customer service.

did you say outdoor drinking? did you say waterfront outdoor drinking? did you say "Mike, you're probably related to most of the people here"? yes, these are all relevant to my interests and true. the DJ was playing great tunes and there was a good vibe going on a warm Saturday night. bar service was fast and friendly. the crowd was a mix of ages, and the dress code is casual. was I out of place in my Star Wars / Iron Maiden mashup t-shirt and khaki shorts? only slightly. I was only there for about an hour - it had been a long day - but from what I saw, yeah, I'd go back to Marina Cafe. fist pump it up!

  • Madhu S.

This was a nice place to have dinner. The crowd is definitely old school Staten island, but there is a reason they like this place. Good service and good food. And a nice view. The restaurant looks a lot like it did before Sandy, but the bar seems nicer and the bathrooms are really cute. Wednesday they have 25% off bottles of wine and they have a good prix fixe menu.

The place is amazing. Food is great and priced accordingly. Service is great and the atmosphere is beautiful. Would and do recommend this place to everyone. Its on the water so all of the seafood is great. Amazing Place on Staten Island.

I have been to the restaurant several times and have to say the food is good. Whether it was just dinner or a party, they deliver. I haven't been to eat since the storm, but have been to their outside Tiki section. It's nice to go on a sumemr night because you're right on the water, so it's comfortable. They have tables set up outside, so you can get wait service or high cocktail tables to hang out. They have bathrooms, which I found pretty decent for an outside space. Staff is friendly and constantly coming around to clean up. The crowd is mixed, so you will definitely get the young mixed in with the old. The music is good and a good place to hang out. Parking can be a pain, bu usually a spot opens up.

The Marina Cafe is one of the nicest places on Staten Island to eat (there aren't too many "NICE" places with a view with actual good food). It overlooks the marina (which was recently rebuilt due to Hurricane Sandy). The restaurant is also being rebuilt...It was very pretty inside, and I expect it to be that way again. Food and service were always great. Classic foreign waiters... (not sure if they're italian).... You can also dine outside on the dock during the day and sit in the sun for a more casual feel - get the sangria!!!! SO GOOD! You won't even believe you're in Staten Island, let alone in New York City. It feels like another world when you're sitting by the water watching SWANS, seriously, swans, float around in the water. On Thursday nights in the summer, the outdoor area turns into a hangout area with "beats" blasting jersey shore style and all of the Staten Island boys out to play in their very best Armani Exchange. You can also expect the 40+ divorced crowd to be there. It's interesting and great for people watching. I've been known to stand around in my short shorts with a Bud Light to chuckle to myself.

I came here about 2 weeks ago (I just made a yelp account) and I had a great experience. Staff was very friendly and made for a pleasant first experience. Food was great and the portions were a nice size. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. I would definitely come back.

Went here for an early dinner with friends and sat outside in the tiki area. Granted it is paper plates and cups but we had no complaints. Service was excellent and the food was good, plus you can't beat the scenery. Would definitely go back. FYI prefix is not available when sitting outside, that was the only drawback.

Came here for the first time last night and was blown away with how amazing the food was. The decor was very nice and I knew it was going to be a good evening. My boyfriend had a special of surf and turf, filet mignon and lobster tail and it was perfectly cooked. I had the pasta carbonara and it was wonderful, I took home the leftovers and cannot wait to dig into it. Although we were stuffed we kept seeing the desserts coming out of the kitchen and just had to try one. We tried a boudino (sp?) and it was heavenly. Our waiter had told us it was delicious so I was happy we went with his choice. I cannot wait to go back and try the other items on the menu as everything had smelled delicious. My only issue was we were seated right by the kitchen where all the waiters would walk in and out but nonetheless it was one of the best meals I've had in a while.

I have been going to the Tiki Bar at Marina Café for years because of its ideal outdoor dining and view of the Marina, one of the few outdoor waterfront dining locations in Staten Island. This year the service is horrific. The hostess and other management are rude and act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to dine and drink there. The waiters are generally confused wandering around with food unsure of which table it belongs to and by the time they have asked four other tables if your food is their's it is inevitably cold. This is a place you really want to like but somehow they keep giving me reasons not to.

I have lived on Staten Island for over 10 years...originally from Brooklyn. Truth is Brooklyn's restaurants are far superior. The food at Marina Cafe is subpar...peeps that like it lack taste buds. I love being on the water when I go out drinking so I"ve been here often. Only go here for shytes and giggles...wayyyyy tooo many guidos and the girls to match! One girl in the bathroom explained her drunken displeasure of "Snookie makin believe she was Italian." The IQ level at this place is borderline impaired. It's the same greasy guys here every weekend. You can leave Staten Island for a year or two and then go back to Marina years later and its the same people there...very sad place!

Well I had dinner here tonight ..the food was delicious but the appetizers were served without serving spoons which meant we were double dipping every time we took an appetizer..we were celebrating a birthday..I had asked if I could bring a cake I was told we could...we bought a cake no one told us that we would be charged $1 per person to cut the cake.. When I am spending $700.00 for dinner I really don't think I should have to pay to have a cake cut. Had they told me I would be paying I would have cut the cake myself..other than that it was all good but because of these things I would never go back..

Tried getting 2 drinks at the Tiki Bar. $50.00 minimum on credit or debit cards!!! Asked the bartender if this was true and she annoyingly retorted "ah, yah, when it's really busy like this" while rolling her eyes. I found the manager who offered to open a tab and move that over to my table. Ummm, minimum limits are illegal and I told her that. Another Staten Island establishment that just doesn't get it. I walked out on principle alone! Can anybody bring customer service back to Staten Island?!?!? Or is that done and gone?

What the hell is up with restaurants smelling like pet stores? You now can figure out what I am going to say next, entrance way stunk, but after going into main area the smell dissipated. Bread was okay, crab cake was delicious, ala vodka pasta pretty good, but fugilli with broccoli rabe was like soup, seriously. Okay place In a pinch. Our all time fave restaurant (portobello cafe) closed early for maintenance.

We arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon. Several Christening parties were in full swing. We got the last table available. We sat ordered our drinks and reviewed the menu. We ordered an appie and I ordered a $27. entrée, When my husband ordered his all time favorite meal, tuna over green mixed salad, (that happened to be a lowly $18.00) the waiter was clearly miffed. He made no attempt to hid his displeasure with my husbands choice. I was incensed! We spent $74.00 on lunch. We won't be back. There are plenty of places that know how customers expect to be treated. I know restaurants have to sell up so everyone makes a decent living. He happens to love tuna. Harumph!!

The view from the restaurant, especially during the warmer seasons, is nice. The service has always been pretty decent. The food is pricey for what they give (quality & quantitatively speaking). I've been here twice, and it hasn't impressed me.

I enjoyed a nice summer afternoon at the Tiki Bar this weekend. The view is beautiful and it's always nice to be able to sit right on the water during the warmer weather. There was a nice breeze coming in off the water, which made the heat tolerable. Marina Cafe was badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy, and right now only the Tiki Bar has re-opened. The restaurant will be opening in August. The drink selection was limited because they are still getting back on their feet. They have a small menu of food available. My husband had the shrimp po boy and he said it was really good. I had the surf and turf salad, which came with grilled steak and shrimp. It was delicious. We also had some sangria, which was tasty, but at $28/pitcher is a bit on the expensive side. All in all, the ambiance here is what really makes the experience enjoyable & memorable. I have heard that the Tiki Bar draws a questionable crowd, but that wasn't my experience coming here on a weekend afternoon.

We were here for afternoon sangria and just to chill before we head out to dinner. The tiki bar was open and I chose a table right next to the water. A couple of guys were coming back from jetskiing and parked right underneath us. I captured an awesome moment with his iPhone so he can treasure it forever. Haha. View from this area is amazing. The horizon is right over there. And all the boats! Reminds me of Sheepshead bay, but cleaner. Although the houses in Sheepshead are nicer. We were almost done with our pitcher of watermelon sangria when I decided to order some oysters. He had two and couldn't take another slurp lol. Weak! Well, we got another pitcher so I can finish off the rest. Awesome afternoon.

This was my first time here... I was desperate looking for a seafood restaurants and this came up in a yahoo search. The enviroment was nice... I had dinner inside the restaurant. The staff is attentive and professional. The meal was well done and declicious (the fish was a little over cooked but better safe than sorry). However the portion was a little small. I don't have a huge appetite but If I hadn't ordered 4 appetitezers the entree on its own definitely wouldn't fill me. The pricing is comparable to some manhattan restaurants that I frequent I give it 1 negative side is that when walking in... I smell bathroom cleaning products... I wasn't sure if they just cleaned the bathroom but It was a strong odor... I give it 3 stars based on pricing, portion of meal, some odor when walking in... but over all a good experience. Not stellar but decent. I wouldn't mind coming back again to try.

The marina cafe is a place I've been going to for a long time. I can honestly say if you havnt been here give it a try. The inside views are great of sail boats and ocean. The service is good and the food amazing. The stuffed artichokes are to die for. The surf and turfs are great and if your looking for a seafood pasta dish this is one top notch place. The outside part can be a hit or miss depending on what state midland crowd shows for the evening as we all know if you live on the island what can happen to any place with great raves and reviews. The Mosquitos can be troublesome at times so indoor area is recommended. The Marinas alittle on the $$$ side but can't argue if the food is great. Vallet or self park. Tv for games. Can say this is a spot for those who havnt been there to checkout.

This is a great place where you can get really good surf and turf and a great Bar menu. They also have a tiki bar sometimes in the summer and it's always a good time. The ambiance is great and the prices are pretty competitive for what you're getting

I've been here many times in the past. But my recent visit in December (after they rebuilt) tells me it has changed in some manner. Maybe new waiters? Maybe new cooks in the kitchen? Service quality was below past standards and the food was nothing special. Portions were also smaller. Price fix was not available making the end of night bill comparable with higher-end restaurants in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Something happened. Most likely the restorations took too long and the waiters and cooks went and found new jobs elsewhere. That is the only explanation I can think of. Unfortunately I will not be going back.

We laughed, we sang, we drank wine - in a picturesque restaurant with gorgeous views of the Marina on a gorgeous day to celebrate my sister's graduation. I had a scrumptious goat cheese and arugula salad to start, seared tuna for dinner and a fruitini (fruit kebabs and sorbet) to finish off a fantastic meal. I remember saying that if I ever came back, I would get the exact same thing again, because it was so good. Well, clearly the seared tuna didn't feel the same way about me. Let's just say the battle I (and several people in our dinner party, I heard) had with this meal lasted for 2 days (one of which included a day out of work) and was similar to the battle that Roy Schieder had with Jaws back in 1975. And just like Roy, I might avoid having seafood for the next few weeks. And, um, going to the Marina Cafe again. 4 stars for the food, the service, and great atmosphere, but the potential to get food poisoning because of undercooked fish - just not worth it.

The food is good, but the service is horrible. They are known for their seafood and the items on the menu that I have had were pretty good, especially the stuffed shrimp. I've also had their lobster bisk which kept me up all night to say the least and I would never get it again. The last time we went, which was on a packed Saturday night, we were literally rushed out by the rude waiter while I was still eating. I had one drink which was the most watered down drink I have ever had and cost around 10 bucks. Sorry, but we weren't spending 50 dollars on drinks so if that was the reason we were rushed out, they need to re-train their staff then. There was no one else waiting to be seated and even if there was, you don't rush people out. They should know enough that the service is just as important as the food and word of mouth goes a long way.

Went to the tiki bar part of the cafe for a late lunch midweek. It was rather sad considering the price. The ambiance was alright but not so "tiki". There wasn't a drink menu which completely lame if it was to be considered a tiki bar. The poor waitress seemed she was still in High School and couldn't even name drinks that were popular at first. She said they made mango mojitos and sangria. We ordered mojitos... The mint was at least week old and you can tell the limes were cut 2 days prior. The drinks were weak and not well made. So we ordered our food: Guacamole w/ chips, Crabcake app and burger. the guacamole was made from mostly unripened avocados and some of their salsa, terrible. The chips were too hard & oily. the burger bun was too black but the Crabcake was ok, still not worth the $$$. We opted for a pitcher of their specialty water melon sangria.... tasted like a pitcher of watermelon shots. Too strong and nothing like sangria. There was a little bit of fruit but rather lame. The sangria was sooo strong we dumped a glass of water into it. So if you are not picky about food, wanna get smashed quick and ok with paying inflated prices, have a blast. I think this place is mediocre and would suggest Management make some effort to make it at least bearable.

Went to Marina Cafe this past weekend, and I see that they have revamped their menu. My favorite seared tuna dish has been removed and replaced with a tuna dish with some greens and mushrooms. No where as good as the old one. The fish also did not taste as fresh as it normally does. My wife had the filet mignon tips with lobster ravioli. Steak was good, the 2 ravioli that came with the dish were decent, but forgettable. The drunken bananas dessert is still on the menu, as was the italian eggroll, 2 of our favorites. I'll give this place one more try before I say never again.

This is a great place to go to for a fun night out with the girls. During the summer on Thursdays they have Tiki Bar outside which is fun but the drinks can get pricey, stick to a cold beer for $5. The food was delicious and very filling I couldn't even finish my dinner. The staff was so helpful and sweet.

The food was good. A little pricey, though. And the clientele was several years above my age bracket. Place kinda seemed like it isn't sure what it wants to be (ritzy black tie restaurant or cafe).

The place was pretty and decorated with lots of Christmas trees. The seafood sampler had oysters, lump crab meat, huge shrimp, and clams. We also had the baked clams. My entree was on the salty side and for dessert we had the tartufo. I've had better tartufos. Overall my experience was good but it better be for about $100 per person!

This was my first time at the Tiki bar, I can't believe they don't serve the drunken banana dessert at the tiki bar!!! Soo dissapointed! I had the mignon sandwich, which was pretty decent, but not awesome. The lamb chop appetizer was the highlight of the meal, it had a nice kick to it and the cube fresh mozzarella was a pleasant surprise. All in all I like the restaurant better than the tiki bar, slightly better selection of desserts and after dinner drinks. And the wait staff inside Is more professional, and if I am going to spend a few hundred on a meal I want to be pampered.

Best place in Staten Island. Clean, staff is friendly, the atmosphere is amazing. They have live music on some night and always have different events. In the summer there is a Tiki Bar with a DJ, fun crowd and a great view.

After deciding to refinance both their homes, my husband and his father went with the same place. After the paperwork was being processed, the brokers decided to take us all out to dinner. Of course, me being a foodie, and, given the opportunity to order whatever my heart desired, I chose the 2 pound lobster (OH YES I DID). I ate every morsel of it. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. Marina Cafe has a beautiful ambiance and even a live singer (although I really think he was lip-syncing.)

The food here is really good and exquisitely presented. The prix fixe is also very reasonably priced... an excellent deal. This time I had the goat cheese and arugula salad with blood orange vinaigrette, crab and spinach stuffed tilapia with shaved fennel and asparagus, and a really tasty creme brulee... for $22! My fiance had zuppa di mussels (good but not great), a juicy free range chicken breast with mushroom risotto, and a fluffy Italian cheesecake. Both really lovely meals for the price. We also had a pitcher of a light, refreshing sangria which was around $25... a bit pricey, but enough for 2 full glasses for 3 people. I also tried some of the wild mushroom ravioli which was good, but not great. The chocolate mousse was rich and stunning. I'd also like to add that the service is very good. Formal, but not oppressively formal. Beautiful place... beautiful view. Kind of has an upscale hotel lobby vibe. I could do without the live music. But who cares? I'm there for the food :-)

I'm very disappointed. The service is very horrible and those male waiters need to fire. I can't believe the bread was in our table before the water, there a male tall waiter standing next to our table. I don't care about the rule of the per waiter cover area. - 1x star. If you have customer sitting down on the table, then get in there and start to offer drinks. By the way, this restaurant do not have draft!!!!! - 1x star. The waiter just drop off the menu without tell us his name and what is the special for the night, another - 1x star. I asked for refill for water and a bottle beers.., after 10 minutes and I got the semi-cold beer. - 1x star. This all happened before the order and I already waiting for 30 minutes on the tables. The funny thing that the restaurant not even half full. So, you tell me. If you are the owner, please wake up!!!!! I don't even want to talk about the foods. Shxt happened and I don't mind, but just unacceptable in today market.

I went to the Marina Cafe for my Aunts Surprise 50 birthday. The Decor of this place is beautiful. I love the water so its a plus to see over the water. The service people were so nice and friendly and they did there job. These waiters and waitresses were coming up every 7-10 mins to see if everything was okay and if you needed anything. Now the food was delicious!!! WELL MARINA CAFE I had the lobster and I knew it was fresh. It tasted so good that I didn't even need the butter. With the oysters they were phenomenal and I really don't like raw stuff but these oysters were great.I say come here for a romantic dinner you're on the water and you'll have a great time

The management crammed TWO SEPARATE PARTIES into the same space! They put up a couple of flimsy room dividers between the two parties. One divider tipped over and crashed into a table of glassware holding candies and sweets for the party. Glass everywhere and children scared to death. Lighting is so dark you can't see your food or the person sitting across from you. Food was terrible due to being overcooked. Dry salmon and rubberized shrimp. Service was confused and slow. Came to the party at 5:30 but didn't eat until 7:45. Cocktails from the bar were $8 and had zero liquor in them!! Seriously, nothing but fruit juice and crushed ice!! This place is a pretentious mess. I can't think of anything good to say.

If it wasn't for the fantastic service we received, this would be a 2 star rating. Why? - because the food wasn't terrible, because it was okay, but the restaurant itself is highly l overrated. People talk about it like it's The Palm of Staten Island. I had the dinner price fixe, $22 for an appetizer, entree and dessert. The best part of the meal was my spicy tuna roll (which surprised me), my appetizer was also much larger than the other portions served under price fixe that I saw. My crab cakes and dessert were okay, but nothing thats going to make me run back. Also my friend had a soap film over his water and accidentally drank out of it which you could assume was unpleasant. For such an upscale establishment you think that could be avoided. Our server was great about it though and was very attentive throughout the whole evening. Overall my opinion is that there are other fabulous restaurant on Staten Island that serve similar dishes for a cheaper or similar price tag. For example, LaStrada, Brioso, Esca. Less fish options, but the same (and more) Italian options.

Nice for drinks in the summertime outside. The food is eh. I went to a function at their sister restaurant down the way - The Marina Grand and the food was subpar too. went there for my son's graduation.. was asked if i had a reservation even though the place was empty.. go figure... the maryland crabcakes were served room temperature and the gnocchis dish was tasteless. the tiramusi tasted like soap and had everyone at the table taste and they all said the same thing.. also beware of ordering drinks got hit with a $10.00 a bar drink tab seven drinks cost me $79.00.. even with the fixed menu not worth it.. as you only get the dish there are no sides as they are extra...

Uh oh. In my group of eight last month, two of the women at our table, my wife included, complained that thier drinks tasted watered down. They confronted the waiter with this; he naturally denied it, and each brought them a new one. Sure enough, the new drinks were just fine, tasting the way drinks are supposed to. Honest mistake? I sure hope so, since the SLA takes these charges very seriously, and besides, this is the most profitable area of any restaurant as it is, no need to get stupid. Food good though, as is service.

Marina Cafe... I don't know what it is about you... but I like you.. and I look forward to seeing you... I get the butterfly feeling right after valeting the car... and I always dress to impress to see you, and of course followed by the rest of the Staten Island jerks... not all but a TON... and by jerks, I mean the good looking guy who has mommy and daddy's money and is FULL of himself - that type swarms to this place... Don't confuse this place with Marina Grand they are right across the street and I have went to a family party their before... I like MC because they frequently have specials with a great price... Monday to Friday 3 - 8 or so... prix fixe menu for only 20 dollars a person!!! In this, you get an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert... The selection isn't 3 items it's an entire page... I would recommend the Mussels with white sauce, I know most people like the red sauce, but the white sauce is better in this case... and you can't go to the MARINA and not get something seafood based... But if you hate seafood, go for the 3 cheese spinach ravioli... basically everything on the entree menu (which isn't entirely Italian by the way) crabcakes, salmon, porkchops - all not Italian, but anyway it is all good especially the filet mignon, vodka sauce pasta, Mmm and the shrimp and calamari fra diavolo over linguini, and the gnocchi with bolognese (meat) sauce... for an additional 6 dollars a person you can both get 1lb and half lobster whiich I do time to time... and the dessert I get during the prix fixe is the sorbet I always wanted to try the crem brulee but I am always too full tanyway to try anything that isn't light... And NOW the fixed menu is also offered Sat and Sunday!!! At 25 dollars a person! What a bargain, Saturday 3- 7 and Sunday 1- 9!! Ok enough about the special menu, so all in all you can;t go wrong with the seafood, and the pasta is pretty good as well... moving onto the atmosphere... I feel like this is a first date place... It's romantic, but not tooo uptight, the scenery is gorgeous, the waves crashing beside the dock of the resturant, the small lighthouse form a distance, the nearby boats with lonely fisherman... all makes for a beautfiul backdrop as well as great conversation... At times there is live entertainment, with a man serenading you or playing the violin, etc. The bar part of the restaurant when you first walk in is beautioful and very spacey... the bar is also pretty popular on Thursday nights for some drinking and a little drunken dancing between older women and younger guys usually... I just love that type of fun crowd... So for good food, good times, and good priced bill... you will love it...

They should know enough that the service is just as important as the food and word of mouth goes a long way.

went there for my son's graduation.. was asked if i had a reservation even though the place was empty.. go figure... the maryland crabcakes were served room temperature and the gnocchis dish was tasteless. the tiramusi tasted like soap and had everyone at the table taste and they all said the same thing.. also beware of ordering drinks got hit with a $10.00 a bar drink tab seven drinks cost me $79.00.. even with the fixed menu not worth it.. as you only get the dish there are no sides as they are extra...
