Would give 2.5 starts. Got a spicy jalapeno baja burger, the spicy buffalo fries and a chocolate shake. The burger was alright, but not spicy at all. I did add a bunch of (my favorite) hot sauce to it and that helped :) It was a good burger, just not as spicy as I'd like. I ordered a chocolate shake, which was actually vanilla ice cream +chocolate syrup. It was good, but I figured they'd use chocolate ice cream. My husband's oreo shake was great. Quick service, delivered to your table. Now the BIG issue was the fries. They were inedible. They advertised Frank's red hot, dry seasoned fries. These were covered in a dry rub that was 90% salt. You literally could not eat them without cringing. I've had Frank's before and many kinds of hot sauces and wings sauces. This dry rub was terrible. I'm not sure if it was the bottom of a seasoning bag or something. It's like when you get to the bottom of a cheetos bag and it's salt and orange crumbs, but mainly salt... and it's covering every bit of the fry, not just part of it. I was really bummed about it. They were busy and the woman we ordered from didn't seem to happy, so I wasn't going to complain. I'm not that type of person. Just giving everyone a fair warning about how awful those fries were. I can tell the fries on their own would be great, just not with the spicy dry rub.

Not a huge fan - staff seemed ambivalent, floors were sticky (HUGE pet-peeve of mine at restaurants), and food was mediocre. The bun was dry and the hamburger patty was unevenly cooked - well done in some spots and very pink in others. The fries were okay. I liked the idea of rosemary on the fries, but the execution wasn't as good as the idea.

Zena, Goddess of Fire, and Pony, did a 20-napkin burger lunch at Smashburger yesterday. I did a 2040 calorie superhero attack on a Classic Smashburger (the big one), a side of sweet potato fries and a chocolate shake. The shake was at least 12 ounces of awesome - an easy fight to put that one away. I liked that it was served in a frosted glass. The sweet potato fries were nice and crispy and not at all greasy or salty - some of the best I've had. But that burger wasn't what I expected, and I almost lost the fight. Stuff was squirting out in all directions. The bun got soggy and fell apart. Pickles plopped out creating panic. And honestly, though tender, it just tasted like ketchup and onions and pickles. Lots of ketchup. WAY too much ketchup. Next time I'll ask them NOT to put ketchup on my burger and I'll do that at the table. Pony did 1540 calories in her good fight: Bacon Cheeseburger, fries, fried pickles, and a Sprite. The pickles were a really really salty but good - the coating was actually stuck to the pickle, which isn't something you see too often. The fries were good, shoestrings, crispy, OK. But that burger??? It tasted like ketchup and onions. Yep, not bacon (two little pieces) or cheese (Uh-merican and flavorless). Again, the toppings took over, sort of like the forces of evil if you let them. The beef may be better quality than "drive-thru" but you'd hardly know it. I like the build your own option and will try that next time. No onions. No ketchup. Love, Zena

I was eager to try this place out despite its chain status. I got the NY chicken burger, which was piled with greasy onions. A mistake on my part since I'm not a huge onion fan to begin with. The chicken party was a little strange, flat and irregularly shaped. It tasted good though. My husbands jalapeño burger was much better. They also had salads on the menu that looked good. Highlights: the fries were fantastic, skinny seasoned fries with garlic and herbs. We got a salted caramel shake that was to die for!!! Service is quick, you order then they bring it to your table. We got our meal within about 10 min. Low points: burger wasn't really anything special. Ambience was a little hectic and loud.

If Burger 21 is Target, and Five Guys is Costco, this place is the Walmart of "hand-crafted" burgers. On a side note, let's please retire the term "hand-crafted". And artisanal. Tasteless meat, not-so-great employees (slow, kinda rude, five of them taking a break in the seating area, eating, while the line continues to grow - keep breaks in the back), shitty, dry fries. People with me agreed on all counts. I didn't finish my burger. I threw it out, along with the fries. This is a very rare occurrence. I live a good burger, but I have been known to finish a mediocre one. I've thrown two out - Jumpin' Jacks and this one. Oh, also, the avocado on my husband's order was totally un-ripe and hard as stone. If you don't have a viable ingredient don't offer it that day. Sticking with Burger 21 as long as they can get the order right.

Tried out of the blue and ordered 5 burgers online. 3 of the orders were wrong and not even close. When we got to the location, our drinks were not with our food, and the girl mentioned to grab any drink we wanted. We ordered a shake and they had to make it there, even though we mentioned the time we would be there online. The location was saratoga springs ny. Makes it very difficult to order from them again.

Two of us. Had to wait a bit to get to counter, but ordering was fast and food was delivered to our table in a reasonable amount of time. We ate outside as it was a bit chaotic and noisy inside. SmashBurger with mushrooms and fries was very well reviewed by my dining partner. He also had a chocolate shake that he loved. I had a spinach salad with avocado added. And sweet potato fries. I had an Honest green tea, too. Salad was great, but too many onions for me. Next time I'll be sure to ask for no onions. Came with a nice, light balsamic dressing. Total bill $27. A bit high for a burger dinner, but we were both full and happy. Parking available. Open until 10. They had beers, teas, sodas and juices. Service was great, but they are still breaking in the staff as this place just opened. We'll go back.

Smash burger, hmmmm. Food came out fast and hot a plus! A little over priced but the menu certainly has a good variety of different fast food choices. However, the place was not the cleanest, hallway to bathroom littered with used towels and lost French fries, had I gone to the ladies room first I would not of ordered to be quite frank. Clean the place up I'll return.

We went here to see if Smashburger was "as good" as Five Guys. The burger was good but the Smash Fries were more like potato sticks then French fries and lacked salt. My son got a grilled cheese kids meal that came out burnt. All and all, even though the burger was very good, I was dissapointed in our experience and would choose 5 Guys hands down for the fries alone.

Came to this place since I have never been to a smashburger, and ordered the classic smash (large 6.5 oz burger upgrade for 1$ more) and smash fries on an empty stomach.I was starving so at this point i really didnt care what I was eating. Everything is ala carte, and I think for burger fries and drink it came out to 12$ and change.. When they delivered the burger to the table, It looked amazing. However, after I scarfed it down, I felt as if the beef was fresh but tasted kind of dull. The egg bun that houses the burger was nothing special, and since its not toasted in any sort of way, did not soak the grease from the burger well. The toppings and the smash sauce along with the burger just didnt work for me. The fries are shoe string style, and did not impress me either. I'm usually pretty content after eating anything on an empty stomach, but this time I actually felt betrayed. Don't think I'll be returning.

This was my first visit to any Smashburger. I went in on a weekday for a late lunch around 2:30-3:00 PM and there was no waiting in line to order. In fact there were not many people there at all, but it was an odd time between lunch and dinner for most people. Inside the building I was reminded of Chipotle. It seemed clean and I was happy I did not have to wait in line to order. The staff was very friendly and seemed to want to make sure my visit was a pleasant one. I ordered the large Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger, Smashfries, and an ice tea. The total bill came to about $12 and change. They gave me a number to place on my table and was told they would bring my food out to me when it was ready. As there were not may customers at the time, I would estimate they brought my food to me somewhere within 5-10 min, which I do not think is bad considering the food is being made fresh. I could tell the hamburger was not your average fast food patty because it was a little bit thicker and an irregular shape. The meat was cooked well done but still seemed juicy. I took a bite out of the burger and seemed to have strange fumes in my mouth. I am not actually sure what it was, but it was almost like when you get a new carpet or car and can taste the fumes. It was not so horrible that it kept me from eating the burger . . .hell, for as much as I paid, I was going to eat everything I ordered. Needless to say, i did not particularly enjoy the burger. Maybe it was the swiss or the truffle sauce. I never figured it out, but know that I would never order it again. The Smashfries were shoestring fires with olive oil and rosemary. The rosemary was very light , but I could kind of taste it. The olive oil seemed like it was just poured over the fires. They came in a bowl wrapped in paper. The bottom of the bowl had so much oil in it that the fries were swimming in the oil. I don't think they are aware of the concept of straining the oil out and tossing the fires in the seasoning and serving. It was like they but the fries in a bowl and poured in the olive oil with a little seasoning and served just like that. Although the fries on top of the bowl were still a little crispy, the fries closer to the bottom of the bowl were soggy and dripping with oil. I was not able to eat them. I must admit that by the time I finished my meal, my stomach was not happy. I was not nauseous, but still the food was just not sitting right with me and it took a couple of hours to get past the feeling. I have to say that is no small feat. I typically have an iron stomach and have eaten some street food in foreign countries without any problem that would make my neighbor's billy goat puke.

Ok, I love burgers and tried a number of places both chain and locals. At first glance the menu seems promising. Prices are along the lines of other similar type places. But after entering and ordering the place is messy tables scattered with trash from previous diners and it wasn't busy this is not a good sign. I got the bbq bacon burger, smash fries and a small drink $13 and change. The order came to the table quickly but the fries and burger were hella greasy (I know it's burger and fries are supposed to be greasy) but too much. I ordered the big burger 6 oz I think pre cooked weight. A few issues 1. Very limited amount of BBQ sauce on the burger, 2. Bacon thick but really chewy like it had been sitting for a while not at all crisp. 3. Inferior cheese I think it was supposed to be cheddar but again greasy and separated. The only plus was the bun had a decent flavor but far to soft to stand up to the grease. The flavor of the burger was average but nothing to write home about. All and all I would say avoid this place and go elsewhere.

Pretty surprised with all the 1 star ratings. I finally decided to try this place out after wanting to satisfy a burger craving and wanting to try something other than 5 guys. We came at about 9:15, place was almost empty and freezing inside. I don't know if they were thinking it was 90+ degrees outside or what but it was too cold to even sit inside and eat. Luckily, they have a pretty large patio area outside that we opted to sit in. Lots of tables and a nice "view" of wolf road. It was a nice mild night so I enjoyed it. On to the food; I ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger and wasn't asked how I like it cooked (found out later that all burgers are cooked to medium). The cook didn't really look adequate so I was curious how my burger would come out. I also ordered a large smashfry which has olive oil, rosemary and Parmesan on them. The cashier was attentive and brought our food out for us after about a 5 minute wait. The fries were similar to shoestring fries in a really big heaping portion. They were really covered in olive oil and not enough Parmesan to my liking, but they were still pretty good. The burger was pretty good too. I'd have to say my burger couldn't have been cooked medium because it felt a little dry, but it was still a tasty burger. I got the regular sized burger and it was a good size. The bun was good and the bacon and bbq were good also. There were no juices dripping out all over the place and I was able to hold the burger together without it falling apart (no offence 5 guys, sometimes I am in the mood for a messy juicy burger though). I felt pretty satisfied overall. They get an extra star for having coke products because lets face it who likes Pepsi. Besides a few little glitches, I would probably return when I have another craving for a burger.

Hello all Here's an honest review, I came in the first day they opened and they were not as busy as I thought they would have been, Still busy though. After around 7 minutes of waiting online I came to a gentleman at the register and placed my order after swiping my card I was told "you cant do that" I was Shocked considering my order was in and the screen said "Please swipe your card" I let it go and then the wait from hell began. The total wait was around 20 minutes for a simple burger and fries TO GO. In that time I heard many uses of profanity by the employees and was referred to as "That Big Guy" I'm sorry but I do not feel there is a need to insult your customers while they are patronizing your business. The floors were filthy behind the register area which I was shocked. So I finally receive my food and it was stone cold I mean Really cold like it was made place to the side and forgotten about. This place is a no go on my list. So here is what I learned on my Trip to Smashburger: Fast food is fast food no matter how pretty you try and make it look Employees need more training and shouldn't refer to a guest by the size of there body. Employees should get there mouths washed out with soap before starting there shifts and lastly a new way to waste $12

Not awesome. I have been looking forward to eating here since I heard that they were opening. Burgers are basically my favorite food and although there are a lot of good burger options around here, I'm always excited to try another. I love Five Guys but I was super excited to try some of the specialty burgers on the Smashburger menu. I guess it was a bad idea on my part but I decided to order online. You'd think it would be hard for them to mess up something that just comes in as a written list but somehow they did. I had a burger for me and one for my husband, an order of fries, a soda, and a milkshake. First of all they messed up the burgers - he had asked them to remove the raw onion from his burger and include grilled onions, which they didn't do. Not everyone loves raw onion. They put ketchup on mine (which isn't even part of the burger I ordered so go figure). Second of all my chocolate milkshake still had huge chunks of ice in it... wonderful. Third, they forgot the bottle of soda we ordered and paid for, and we didn't realize until we were about halfway home. Fourth, the order of fries was EXTREMELY stingy - I'm probably spoiled because of five guys but seriously this was the same amount of fries you get in a McDonalds kids' meal... and fifth, although I can't blame this particular franchise because maybe it's just how the company operates, but they put the to-go burgers in little plastic containers, which filled with condensation and made the buns super soggy. So yeah - not awesome. Also I hate Wolf Road and I don't understand why more and more businesses are opening up there. It is so poorly laid out and everyone drives like a moron. Anyway I'm sticking with Five Guys after this. I was really disappointed.

I used to love this place when they first opened but recently every time I go the service is lousy and the portions are smaller. Paid over $3 for Haystack Onions and got 1/4 of a container with a sauce put on top to make it look like more. These containers used to be filled. Doubt Smash Burger will be open by end of year with service and attitude like this.

Very Disappointing. I wouldn't go back and certainly don't recommend it. The haystack onions, or thin onion rings look good on the website, but in reality they get very clumpy and awkward to eat. They are over salted and over seasoned. These are good as onion strings that are usually put on a burger or sandwich--not as a whole side dish. Their onion ring sauce is just a rip-off of the Outback's blooming onion sauce. The deep-fried pickles were terrible: they were barely covered in any batter and they were made with those sour sandwich-style pickles--which is the wrong type of pickle for deep-frying (garlic dill spears make the best deep-fried pickles). The veggie burgers were very dry and bland, even for black bean-based veggie burgers. Bottom line: Salty clumpy onion rings, soggy fried pickles, and bland veggie burgers. If you want to eat on Wolf Road, there are better places. I also have to mention that if you are traveling south on Wolf, it is illegal to make a left turn into this place, which can be awkward. And when we were there today there was a very long line. If you want to try it for yourself, I would recommend skipping the line and ordering ahead. Not worth the money or the wait.

We were in the area and I asked my girlfriend if she would be nice enough to go inside and grab me a chocolate milkshake. She is the only person in line at 830 P.M. and it takes them 5 minutes to even take her order. She comes out a few minutes later and I taste the shake. It was absolutely disgusting. I didn't think it was possible to make a milkshake taste that bad. My girlfriend then said she thought the guy just grabbed it out of the fridge. She thinks they had leftovers in the fridge and just sold us used one. The shake that I received wasn't even chocolate! I asked her to go back and get another one and the new one was actually chocolate and was actually cold like it should be. I can't believe their employee would use leftover milkshakes and serve it to customers. This place will not last long with this kind of service. I personally will not be going back.

Similar patty size to Five Guys, but with better seasoning. Really tasty burger but the gimmick of the large being far to big to fit on the bun was just annoying. It stuck out .5 inch at least all around. The shoestring style fries were pretty good, their regular ones having olive oil and rosemary was a nice touch. I'll have to try the buffalo style ones next. Long lines at lunch but the food came out quickly.

Delicious burgers, fries and milkshakes. I was in the mood for a nice greasy burger and wasn't disappointed. Keep up the good work, the place is very clean and staff are very friendly and nice. I will be back! Probably will try a chicken burger next time.

I originally e-mailed this to management, but of course no response. I'm writing to you in reference to my experience tonight at your smashburger in Albany. I'm in your restaurant about once a week to grab one of the best burgers in town. Around 8:55 PM, myself and two of my brothers went in to grab some milkshakes. We walked up to the counter while one of your female employees was on the floor doing some type of work. She didn't say one minute, please wait, or anything to make us feel she was going to serve us. Essentially, I thought she was trying to ignore we were there and have us walk out thinking you were closed. We still waited though due to our love for your milkshakes. She eventually got up after we waited for about 5 minutes. She said "what do you want?" I asked for a PB&J milkshake, when she responded "we ain't have them or black bean burgers." Already having dinner and not hungry for a burger, I just said "Oh ok, I'm not going to get anything" she rudely responded "That's fine with me." And we left. I was really taken back by how she treated us from start to finish. I felt our business wasn't appreciated and maybe I'm right. Next time I want a burger and milkshake, I'll go where my business is wanted.

What I liked: All the different options I have to order from (burger, chicken, salad). I had the grilled chicken smashburger with sweet potato fries. Was decent. Chicken could have been seasoned to give it more flavor. My husband had a burger. Was okay, but nothing he'd stop back in for. What I didn't like: Their shoe string fries they offer if you get the regular fries. My kids got them with their meals and when they didn't eat them in the first 2 minutes of getting them they hardened right up. Neither kid could touch them - and my kids love french fries. There's barely any potato in them so they don't hold up for very long. Also the cost is on the high side for what you get. More importantly what we didnt like were the servers running the food. They were standing around the kitchen waiting for food and there was no topic that was off limits. I understand it's a burger joint - but they should be trained on what it means to be professional. I had kids with me.

No. Just no. Went there for their grand opening. Mass confusion, they didn't know how to cook their product. Employees kept trying to take our food and kick us out the door. Bathrooms were filthy. Sent a complaint, owner responded by saying he would send us coupons. Guess what, they never came, suprise suprise. Do yourself a favor, if you are looking for a new burger place to try take yourself down next to Hoffman's Playland and go to Burger 21. The owners of this Smashburger by no means hold up the name that Smashburger has made for itself in the past few years. Very disappointed to see a great chain from the city and other areas fail so horribly. Its like a replay of what happened with the Fuddruckers that was turned into a Hooters.

The All American Meal, a juicy cheeseburger with fries and a coke can be the most satisfying experience on earth if done properly. What I consider essential is a fresh never frozen patty with good flavor cooked medium rare so the juices flow out of the burger with every bite. I got the big 6.5 oz Smash Burger which was just the right size patty. The bun was decent but not great. I'm not a mayo guy so I avoid any special sauces and had mine without their smash sauce. The taste of the burger hit on all cylinders with the requisite juice flow. The Coke was serve yourself fountain style and added to the experience. The burger fries and a coke was a steep $11.20 and I wouldn't flinch at all if the All American Meal is done to perfection. Two out of three ain't bad may work for Meatloaf but it doesn't work for the All American Meal. The fries stink. The worst kind of fries in the world are shoestring fries because they have the least amount of potato flavor and absorb the most grease. Whoever decided on these fries at corporate should be fired. Steak fries, hand cut wedges, crinkle cut, waffle, curly all would have blown their fries away. When this chain ultimately fails and corporate scratches their heads wondering why, they probably wouldn't have had the benefit of this review.

We have been here twice and both times the food is okay! Nothing amazing in our opinion. You can taste that it's fresh. The smash sauce is different but we don't think that will be enough to get us back. The fries with Rosemary were much tastier the first time but they were soggy and too much oil the second time. The shakes are good but not wow good. After the second time we thought that the burgers taste like Wendy's, which is okay. But smash is more $$. It seems Smash burger wants to be this trendy burger joint with almost a Starbucks snooty thing going on. We think it will be tough for them to survive here in Albany. Time will tell.

8 pm on a Thursday. There are about 8 people seated, 4 people waiting for take out, and after I ordered about 8 people come in and stand in line to order. Place is a pigsty. Three people working, one female wandering around doing nothing, one cook, one guy on the register who seems to care and is trying his best. He finally gets the female to take orders while he makes shakes. In the meantime orders are coming out of the kitchen but no one is getting them out to the dining room. People from the dining room are coming up to see where their food is. The shake guy finally figures out he needs to get the meals out. The female does't lift a finger to help out. By now I have waited 20 minutes for my take out burger. The hard working guy now is trying to get the food out but can't figure out one order from the next. One nit wit female customer, who I might add ordered after I did, is up at the kitchen counter trying to see if her order is up there and she is totally in the way. I see what looks like my order on the kitchen counter so I ask the guy if it is mine. He says it is not and continues to try and figure out which burger is which. So he finally looks at the burger in the box and realizes that is mine and he gives it to me. He did apologize for the wait and I did feel bad for him...he was truly in the weeds. Bottom line the burger was no better than Micky dees. I won't go back and this place won't be there by the end of this summer.

It's easy to write a review when something is bad so I want to be a person that not only leaves a review when its bad but also good. I came on the second day it was opened and while my jalapeno baja crispy chicken sandwich as well as the service was really good, my fried pickles were soggy and greasy. I made a complaint to corporate because I know that the restaurant was new and working out the kinks and didn't want to leave a bad review for a new restaurant with new employees. The owner contacted me and made it right. I went in today and had the crispy chicken which is a thinly fried chicken breast (while not thick it does make up for that in length and flavor) and an order of fried pickles. My pickles were crispy and light just like it should be. The wait was not long and the food is made to order so you know that you are getting fresh food and not something that is put under a heat lamp. It is a new restaurant and I know they are working on their shortcomings but I do appreciate an establishment that is willing to fix issues when the customer makes it known.

The New Yorker burger was just okay. The patty itself was just a glorified Burger King patty. The aioli didn't have much flavor. Honestly, Red Robin has better burgers. The smash fries were great! Crispy with lots of flavor. We got a chocolate shake that was really disappointing. They advertise that they use Haagen-Dazs ice cream which is great, but they don't use chocolate ice cream! It was just vanilla ice cream with lots of chocolate syrup. No thanks. Won't be back.

Health inspector would have a field day here! Dirty floor, buckets of water next to utensils with employees dipping cloths in and out carelessly. Employees look disheveled and not very friendly. One employee had her hands in her mouth and did not wash them after! YUCK. Food was mediocre, fries were decent but burger was nothing special. If I was not with others I would have walked in and right out due to the look of things right off the bat. I'll choose making my own delicious burger at home over going back to this place.

On occasion, you'll find a restaurant on yelp that has a 4 or 4 1/2 star rating and the food is crap. It's one of the problems with yelp. It's unavoidable. Sometimes yelp lets you down. Smashburger has the opposite problem. A burger chain that serves great burgers and chicken, with high quality, fresh ingredients and yelpers don't like it. And for the life of me I don't get it. I'm perplexed and saddened that I have to--yet again--update my review in defense of Smashburger and set the record straight. Maybe I've been lucky. Maybe every time I've been it's been a fluke (6 visits now). I've not experienced any of the service or cleanliness issues other reviews complain about. The staff has always been just fine, and our food has always come out quickly and without issue. And what's the the lack of love for the burgers? Look, Smashburger is a different style to Five Guys (which many reviews compare it to). Admittedly I love Five Guys, but the two are not comparable. They are not serving the same product. Smashburger is about quality, fresh ingredients. Five Guys is about greasy, flavorful beef. The toppings are secondary and not of nearly as high quality as Smashburger. The New Yorker burger is great. Caramelized onions, fresh baby spinach and NY State cheddar. My wife loves the spinach, cucumber & goat cheese chicken sandwich. It's fantastic. Again, the veggies are always fresh and it comes with a generous amount of goat cheese, and a large, thin, tender, chicken filet. Go ahead, go to Five Guys, and ask for baby spinach and goat cheese on your burger, or, ask for a good quality NY State cheddar, and a brioche bun. Oh, and while you're at it, request rosemary on your fries. Let me know how that works out for you. By the way, rosemary and potatoes are a match made in heaven. Look, my point is not to denigrate Five Guys or other burger joints. My intention is to point out what Smashburger is, and why it's good. And it is good. It's very good. Don't come to Smashburger expecting a big greasy burger. Come expecting a quality burger with high quality toppings. Did I mention they use Häagen-Dazs ice cream in their shakes? You do realize Häagen-Dazs is a super-premium brand of ice cream don't you? And is arguably the best national brand of ice cream you can buy? Smashburger has that going for it too.

Smashburger is a fast, casual burger spot that also offers salads, fries, and shakes. After placing and paying for the order, you'll receive a number to place upon your table when dining in so that staff can deliver your food. During a busy lunch hour, I was surprised to find the wait time wasn't long at all...maybe 6-8mins total. We ordered the BBQ, Bacon + Cheddar burger, Bacon Cheeseburger, a side of Smash fries (olive oil + rosemary), and a side of Haystack Onions. The burgers were very juicy and cooked to our liking. I usually order my beef to be between medium rare and medium. At some locations this expectation is hard to meet but fortunately not an issue here. They offer a few kinds of buns- I chose to keep the egg bun the menu recommended and it was great. The rosemary and olive oil fries really hit the spot! Although some might say it is too rich or too greasy, I loved it and it is well worth the calories! You really can't go wrong with rosemary and olive oil. The Haystack onions were simply shoestring onion straws with a lightly fried batter. I am the kind of person that likes the haystack onions on the side more than atop a burger..and will end up picking out them onions before eating my burger if that is the case. Overall a nice and quick burger spot that can satisfy one's burger craving. Will be back to try other burgers and the "veggie fries".

Burgers are amazing, definitely better than 5 Guys or any other burger place around Albany. The Rosemary fries are also incredible. The price is exactly what you would expect and I've definitely spent more at fast food restaurants for a much worse meal. Staff was also very polite and friendly!

My wife and I went here for dinner because "the owl" across the street was busy. SO glad we did! This place has the best burgers I've ever tasted from fast food. So many options for custom burgers. My wife and I have never been to one before, but now we're hooked!

Update now that we have, as promised, tried the kids and vegetable parts of the menu. The burgers are as in our previous review: still a cut below Five Guys (not a fan of the egg bun), and the fries, without the rosemary, are stringy and not to our taste (with the rosemary, they're moderately tasty but still have a funny texture). That said, the side options off burgers and fries have propelled this up a star. The salads are made with actual green stuff - real spinach in the spinach salad - and the crispy beans and carrots dish, as the sole veggie side, is excellent and quite solid (reminiscent of a sort of spice-free Chinese-style green beans done on a hot wok). The milk shakes are *real* shakes - tasting noticeably like the only ingredients are milk and ice cream. The kids meals also proved decent - good grilled cheese. Bonus features I didn't notice before: they have Cholula as a condiment; and they have beers, actual beers, for sale, not something you find at the usual fast food burger joint. We also tested them on a super busy night, and after waiting a bit in line, they made up for it by having extremely fast service out of the kitchen, and as ever prompt and friendly food delivery and bus service to the tables. It is an excellent halfway point between a Red Robin-style sit-down (with the need for tips, etc.) and typical fast food. Yeah, so what, we had to wait in line again to order shakes. It was still faster than waiting for a server and then waiting on the kitchen.

Summary- Pretty darn good burger but nothing out of this world. I still prefer Five Guys for a chain burger, mostly due to the juiciness of their smaller patties and their fries, which I prefer the style of. Love that they have cholula hot sauce and honest tea. I also like that they clear the tables for you. Food- 3 Stars Got a avocado club burger. Decent not great burger. Patty was cooked through they don't give you option, it was OK if not a touch flavorless. Too much mayo on the bun. Great shoestring fries but they are a bit greasy for sure. Service- 4 Stars Super fast when I was there, and friendly enough. Drinks- 2 Stars Everything pales in comparison to the mega coke machines that give you 40 million options. Atmosphere- 3 Stars Not bad inside, kinda typical fast casual place. Clean, but its new so that's hard to gauge.

This place is pretty good. The burger wasn't as flavorful as I hoped. The portion of avocado was hardly visible - such tiny slices! After going to Burger21, where they take a temperature and have such huge slabs of good cheese and avocado, Smashburger was disappointing. I think I'd pick that or Five Guys over Smashburger, but I am happy to have another boutique burger joint in the Albany area. Keep em coming!

Went here for some work colleges after a long day at training meetings. We were looking for something close by too our hotel because we were all pretty exhausted. I had never heard of Smash Burger and didn't know it was a chain restaurant. Browsing through their menu it was a fairly standard burger joint with their signature sandwiches and and option to create your own. I opted for a no frills bacon cheese burger and it was alright. Wasn't great, but didn't disgust me by any means. I was allowed a per diem for food and don't feel the need to max it out at this place, even though I could have. Their just wasn't enough there to entice me. All in all I would say this place is something you'll drive by from time to time and stop there on one of those "Haven't been there in a while" feelings. If I lived in the Albany Area I don't feel I would say "Let's go to Smash Burger!" To many times.

OK, it's Halloween night and you don't want to go home because you don't have any candy to hand out to trick or treaters. You're not up for doing the Monster Mash, so where you going to go? Smash Burger! They now have had plenty of time to get their act together since their mid-August opening so it seemed like a good time for our first visit. First surprise? The place is not busy at 7:20 pm. There are customers at only one other table and another customer is picking up an order to go. First disappointment? You can't see in the kitchen to know if your burger actually got smashed. How do you know you're getting what you paid for. I ordered the New Yorker Smash regular ($6.39). It seems that they create various regional burgers to emphasize unique "local" preferences or flavors. Someone at Corporate apparently believes that New Yorkers prefer their burgers with NY cheddar, garlic grilled onions, spinach, tomato and peppercorn garlic aioli on a brioche bun. What they don't realize is that New Yorkers, at least this one, would also like to taste the beef in the burger. Maybe if I had ordered the "BIG BURGER" version for $1 more I would have tasted the beef. But so it goes with my second disappointment. My wife ordered the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Smash regular ($6.39). This burger is topped with truffle mayo, sautéed crimini mushrooms, and aged Swiss on an egg bun. Comparing the two burgers we noticed how much more salty mine tasted vs. my wife's. Disappointment number three was that both burgers had a fair amount of oil dripping from them. This is not to be confused with a juicy burger. When you cook your burgers this well done you cannot rely upon the natural juices of the meat to provide both the moisture and flavor that are a prerequisite of a good burger. Surprise number two was how quickly our burgers were brought to our table. Others might consider this a plus for the restaurant. But I have to identify this as contributing to disappointment number four since there was only enough time between our ordering and receiving our food for the staff to assemble pre-cooked meat patties with the appropriate toppings. Finally, we tried both the Sweet Potato Fries ($2.49) and the Smash Fries ($2.29). Surprise number three was that the Rosemary on the Smash Fries was not over powering, and the olive oil and garlic seemed just about right. The sweet potato fries were OK, no surprises or disappointments. We also shared a large fountain drink ($2.49). While the restaurant was clean, including the restroom, I don't see us rushing back. If we don't choose to eat at a locally run establishment and decide again to visit a burger chain, it's likely to be that one founded by a handful of guys.

It's okay, but not quite right. I'm still a fan of juicy burger and five guys. The hamburger is fresh and the have a good choice of semi non red meat choices, but the price you pay here should the meat be buffalo or bison, Angus beef.

Oh MY!!!! What an explosion of flavour!! The spinach, cucumber, and goat cheese on Grilled chicken was AMAZInG!!! Not sure the secret on the grilled chicken, but it alone is fantastic! I sure hope I find another one of these Smashburgers on my next journey!!! Excellent flavors, great local choice menus... A new favorite on the list!!! Excellent service from the staff as well!!

The smash burger is now my favorite fast food burger in the Capital District (Translation: I still feel any burger at any pub, restaurant or independent burger joint will be better, and that includes Juicy Burger). I'm already hopelessly addicted to their Smashfries. I like their shakes, but those, and their soft drinks are all overpriced. But here's the big deal: If I'm going to wait 5 minutes in line just to place my order, and then I have to wait another 10 minutes to get my order, AND spend between $10 and $13 for it, I might as well go to one of my favorite pubs in the area to get a burger, steak fries, and a beer for not much more time and money. I've been here twice now, once 5 days after opening, and then 2 weeks later. I was more impressed with my first visit. Even though one register was broken, they took my order faster and my meal came out quicker. Though you could argue that the orders were only coming in half as fast, which is why the meals came out quicker. The second time, orders were coming out helter-skelter, and all the servers were saying, "I'm sorry, I just started here." That only works for so long, sorry. The girl at the counter had me double-check and triple-check my order. I wasn't sure if she was paranoid, whether they require you to confirm it, or whether she was just concerned because this was the register that wasn't working the first time I visited. On my second visit, my burger had some unexpected guests, some slices of red onion. I didn't mind since I do like it, but that could be an issue for others. The first time I ordered a shake, it came early, in a large goblet with some extra in the metal container. The second time, my shake came late, with the excuse of "I didn't know where it was going," meaning they lost the order. And this time it came in a to-go cup, which was substantially less than the goblet. So did they cut back on the portion size, or do you get less if you order a shake to go? Little things like these cost you a star. I was hoping Smashburger would be a new place to regularly have lunch when I passed through. Instead, it has been relegated to being an occasional treat if I'm in the area.

Horrible! The tables were all filled with trash and no where to sit.. Told the manager and she told me they were understaffed today because of the amount of customers in the store. When she walked away the manager said "I'm over it". Floors are disgusting tables are dirty and had to ask to get one cleaned off. Horrible service and horrible customer service.

Smashbuger is A- OK and another welcome addition to the Capital Districts emerging burger scene. Burgers are thin, wide, and juicy. The beef is good and heavily seasoned. Fries are super thin and tasty. The Smash Fries are lightly seasoned with rosemary and a nice change of pace. Burger assembly and service were great. Everything came to the table piping hot. How does it compare with Juicy Burger, Burger 21, Five Guys? It's much faster. Even when busy the food comes out surprisingly quick. If Five guys is McDonalds then Smash Burger is the Burger King alternative. Really on the cusp of four stars. Bottom Line: Solid place get your burger and fries fix.

It was an okay burger. I would eat it again. But the problem was the balance of toppings to burger. Bravo for having gluten free buns. To make an apple-to-apples comparison, I ordered what is known at The Ruck as the bacon-blue-cheese-burger (it is an off menu item at this point but I still get it). Parts: Burger Blue cheese crumbles Bacon Grilled onions Grilled mushrooms My biggest issue is the thin, unremarkable burger upon which they piled all of my delicious toppings. The flavor of the toppings (with the exception of the blue cheese) was a competitor with my beloved, but the burger itself was wah-wah; it really didn't stand up to its toppings. I like my burgers meaty and medium rare so the Smashburger pancake burger didn't get me going. Despite not having much of its own identity, the burger was juicy and a nice texture. Word of caution: the laminate floor is slippery when dry. I was wearing flat dress sandals and slipped twice while I was in there (for all of 5 minutes to pick up my take away).

Nothing special. I'd prefer a greasy five guys burger any day of the week. I ordered the New York Burger with Smash Sauce, Smash Fries and a Naked Bear Ale. The burgers are decent, wavering between gourmet and fast food. And like other people have stated the idea of rosemary on the fries is cool, but didn't quite live up to expectations. Doubt I will go back.

......I don't get it. The set up reminds me of Shake Shack, it's red and silvery chrome and you can see people in the kitchen (but not the food.) Shoestring fries are a waste of my time. The saving grace is that they are "flavored" - the regular fries have Rosemary, and I got spicy buffalo fries (which are a major disappointment). They also have sweet potato fries - shoestrings!! My burger was larger than my bun, but my friends was teensy. The burgers themselves were fine, the meat wasn't seasoned but the combos were nice. It's nice that they bring your food to your table, but they also take your dishes/food away...which is FINE, except when they don't. We hung out, got up to leave, and stood around because there isn't even a trash can if you wanted to throw your own stuff out. Soooo you stand awkwardly with garbage until someone takes it from you. The bathroom is past the ordering counted, so you can see into the worker's area...and you can hit someone with a door if they're walking by and unprepared. Overall, we'll just go to Five Guys next time.

My first Smashburger experience was in the Atlanta area and I loved it. The restaurant was clean, food was fresh, and the staff was attentive. I was so excited when I saw a local location opening on Wolf Road. Unfortunately, most of my experiences have been less than exceptional. The food is freshly prepared and that's the only reason I've been back. Staff are not very friendly and are often standing around arguing amongst themselves while tables are left uncleared and in need of a wipe down. The floor always looks like it needs a good sweeping and mopping. Also, If you order a shake, it takes forever. Ask for it in a to-go cup as it will arrive when you are done with your meal.

Tried for the first time last night when I was hungry for a quick bite. I had been holding off visiting due to the overwhelming amount of negative reviews. I was actually pleasantly surprised... It was pretty late when we attended, probably about a half hour before closing time, and it was dead. I think there was one other party in the restaurant. The young man working seemed pretty aloof, but was friendly nonetheless. We waited probably 5 minutes for our food to arrive which was not bad. One thing to note was that the restaurant was pretty dirty. Leftover food and trays on multiple tables, garbage on the floors. For being dead, someone should have been actively cleaning while we were there. Ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and the fries with rosemary and olive oil. The burger was tasty and juicy, but not very big. I tasted the bacon and fried onions moreso than the burger itself. The fries were tasty, but a little bit too thin for my liking. Overall, I left feeling satisfied, but not amazed. I would go back if I'm in need of a burger fix. Next time I'll try the larger burger and buffalo fries :)

I had high hopes for Smash and unfortunately was pretty let down. The patty wasn't very flavorful but burgers construction was pretty sloppy. My fries (which I will say we're pretty damn good [the smash fries]) were placed in the back almost completely upside down which alludes to lack of attention to detail. By the time I got the bag to my car the olive oil on the fries had soaked through almost the entire bag . I ordered to BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger and specified I wanted substitute the cheddar for blue cheese crumbles. The girl so no problem and then read the order back to me, correctly, for verification. Well I got a bacon burger with onion strings, no cheese at all. I was thoroughly disappointed with my burger, the fries are the only reason they got 2 stars. This place pales in comparison to other burger joints in the area. I'd highly recommend Juicy Burger or Burger 21 over this place.

I think this was my first Smash Burger visit. I try to visit any of the "new age" burger joints whenever I can. This one was not much different. Decent burger. Better than the one you will get a most fast food and chain (i.e., Chili's, Friday's) restaurants. The service was average - nothing to write home or complain about. I'd definitely eat here again.

We are first time visitors, and came to Smashburger today because they have a gluten free bun, and we ate at Five Guys yesterday. Tosca loved being able to eat a burger on a bun, a treat she hasn't been able to enjoy often for the past five years. All in all, the food was good, but needed some salt. Lost one star for that, and one star for those lousy straw fries. Tosca had the Smash fries, and said they were pretty good, but prefers Five Guys Fries. Next time I'll try the sweet potato ones.

I don't know if you have had the chance to eat here but if you haven't, in a word OUTSTANDING! I love the burgers the topoings and the shakes are to die for! And if you haven't had the fries bathed in olive oil and rosemary you haven't lived! They are worth a visit alone. They even remde my burger when I forgot to tell them to hold the bread without complaint. I'll be back! Oh yes I'll be back!

Really excited to take the family. Second trip for me, after having a burger to go at my office about two weeks ago. My review should be straight forward, easy to digest and fair. I wasn't disappointed with the fact that the servers didn't even pretend to want to know who at our table ordered what order. I wasn't disappointed when we asked the server if the burger had the smash burger sauce and they said yet, when it was ketchup. I wasn't disappointed two other orders were prepared wrong, not the grease from the fires spilled on my brother, not the empty ketchup, not the under-cooked veg. frites nor the excessive salt. Nope. None of that bothered me. It was this...."DAD, they made my chocolate shake with vanilla ice cream!" The owner needs to ride senior management to ride the cooks. In my opinion, all the staff there today should be shown the door. Start over now.... before it too late.

We went there when it first opened and already the floor had a greasy feel to it, much like walking into a Burger King. We should have left at that point. I got the Classic Smash and my wife got the chicken version of it. We paid, took the table tag and sat down. A little while later one of the staff came over with the food. I remember staring down at it thinking, that's it? Then I saw the yellowish "smash sauce" and thought PLEASE don't let that be mustard. The burger was tasteless. The smash sauce tasted like a mustard and mayo blend. It was. I HATE MUSTARD ON MY BURGERS. Can't they warn or advise you that their smash sauce is mustard based? My wife said that her chicken was really greasy. This place sucks. If you want a better burger, go to Burger 21 or Five Guys. Or if you're in a pinch, go dumpster diving at McDonalds. Anything will taste better than Smash Burger.

Been twice. First time there was some major credit card issues, but they're new so I get it. Burgers have been good each time. Smash fries (olive oil and rosemary) are delicious! Went there today for the sole reason of grabbing some Smash fries. The counter girl (not the brightest, but very sweet) said they didn't have any. I asked how long it would take for them to be ready figuring maybe 5 minutes since they're just fries tossed in olive oil and rosemary. She said the truck didn't come so they don't have any at all? I was under the impression they used fresh potatoes and cut them and fried them on site. Guess not. Still delicious, but a really big bummer...

I was so very excited to try Smashburger. I got the NY with crispy chicken and it was fairly good, the chicken was juicy. The onion strings were my favorite, even though they came to the table luke warm. My husband got the swiss, he said it was delicious. My son got the Bacon Cheeseburger and he loved it. He never eats pickles or onions but they were both eaten. Both men got the smash fries, but the rosemary was overpowering and they were swimming in oil. When we ordered we told the cashier we needed one item to go. The look of absolute fear was enough to order the to go later. First time I have ever experience that! We were there for about 30 minutes and table around us stayed dirty the entire time. Our food was delivered very fast, maybe a little too fast. The drinks are over priced. We got two salads and fried pickles to go. The pickles get soggy very fast. The salads were well made!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
