After having recently moved to Montgomery my wife and I decided to try a local place instead of the normal chain restaurant. The atmosphere is local town bar (although it did remind me of an Irish Pub ) with loads of folks crowed around the bar. Seat yourself in the front or back. Great beer selection keeping in theme with the Irish Pub. Food was good. Large portions. Well prepared and definitely a filling meal. Service was good. No rushing here. You can take your time and stay as long as you like. Another reminder of Europe. If you're in Montgomery NY to pick pumpkins and enjoy the Fall weather or just cruising through anytime, stop by for a meal and a Pint. You will not be disappointed

I'm torn between 3 & 4 stars. This is good pub food; not great, not gourmet, but good and with generous portions. There is a great selection of draft beers. All staff we encountered were very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We shared an appetizer of cheese, bacon, and ranch waffle fries. They were hot, crispy, and filling. My husband had a Jeter burger. You really can't go wrong with a burger here. On Mondays they have 101 to choose from. I ordered the chimichanga, based on another review. The bartender informed me before I ordered that they are not fried, as is traditionally the way you might expect them to be prepared. They were more like enchiladas. They were good, about what you might expect when ordering Mexican at a pub ;). The salsa was very tasty

The food is always delicious, hot, fresh, and very reasonably priced... I always bring my friends and family who are from out of town here because I want them to experience a Montgomery staple. They have an incredible list of beers on tap as well as bottled. This is my favorite place in Orange County.

This is basically the definition of an Irish pub. Furniture is imported from Ireland. 27 beers on tap (I just asked the server) Fireplace is lit on cold nights. Warm, village like atmosphere all the time. A hundred types of burgers to order- literally. Ask for the burger menu. It's separate from the main. (Mondays only and Tuesdays slider day) Chill place for a beer and great food for a bar but not the place to go if you're looking for something over the top. Solid reliable pub service.

Proper Irish pub in the center of small town Montgomery (ahem middle of nowhere). Copperfield's is sort of a seat yourself and we will come find you. Soo cozy, vibrant, friendly and real. Feels like you are in an episode of cheers, a back pub in Ireland with a splash of upstate realness. The waitstaff is helpful if sometimes not exactly clear what is currently on tap. Who cares? They are so kind. The James beer flight was exceptional with a flavorful assortment of sour beer / stouts. Five, 3 oz pours on a lazy suzan. Cute and only $9. My dirty vodka martini was a bucket of perfectly chilled Smirnoff martini in a heavy glass. ($7) Chicken chimichangas ($12). Moist shredded chicken in two corn tortillas drenched in sauce and smothered in cheddar cheese. So tasty I actually ate the rice. Wings - medium spicy and awesome ($6) they have a ton of flavors, I just ordered regular. Lots of drumsticks and a few wings. Hefty and delicious. Jalapeño poppers ($7) - cheddar gut bombs. Not my fave. But definitely plentiful. Next night had the Swiss mushroom burger with BBQ sauce and waffle fries $9. Two people shared it and were stuffed. We are going back tonight to sample a few more dinner options and beers. 3rd night in a row...insane maybe, but so good!

A few of of the fellas and I from work decided to stop here after a round of golf up the street. Where I shot like a pile of dog doo-doo and because more frustrated than I've been in the last 20 years, I found a bit of happiness in the Shepherd's Pie that I was graced with. With that, I was back to an even keel - similar to that of when I woke up this morning and hadn't yet attempted to horribly swing a golf club. The atmosphere was nice and the bartender was a gem. Overall, this was a nice place to be.

Awful experience. People that go here should learn how to speak when children are around, anybody walking in would Have tgought it was a trucker stop. It is a true shame. We got our food and asked for the check so we could leave right away. Will not go back.

Ended up deciding to write this review after a few weeks of deliberation. I really like to leave good reviews but it's important for businesses and consumers to know about what is going on. I traveled about an hour to this restaurant and choose it because of good ratings and reviews. At first walking in the place seemed homey but with no host or hostess to seat and a staff that would not greet or approach customers when they enter the establishment was a poor start. When we finally had a table cleared for us at the dismay of a seemingly grumpy wait staff member we were told to walk back inside to read the beer list. I've seen many establishments with this variety of beer have appropriate print outs for customers. The beer selection was great and priced reasonably but I t couldn't make up for the poor attitude of the staff and subsequently we will not be returning.

Cool little bar that has a casual kinda vibe. I haven't dined at the restaurant portion but from what I hear it's pretty good. I got the wings which were decent but i do wish i would've ordered the train wreck fries. They do have an insane amount of beer on tap if that's your sorta thing which one has 9% alcohol for all you Alkies out there. More space near the bar would be better but it is what is.

This is my idea of the perfect bar. Intimate, warm, (somewhat) dimly lit, and killer food. Whether you're here for a beer, a mixed drink, dinner, or all of the above, Copperfields can, and will deliver. First, the beer. Last time I checked, they have the most draught taps in the Hudson Valley, something like 20+. Many are locally crafted, full-flavored beers. Rushing Duck in Chester, NY for example, is often available here, and all drafts are $5, with a daily special that'll run you $3. No Miller or Coors lights though, (although you can still order them via bottles.) Mixed drinks? Sure, they have them. The food. Wow, it's good. Surprisingly good. So good, you can come here just for the food, and skip the booze all together. The wings are a standout for me, perfectly crisp and adequately sauced. Never would I ever order barbecue wings, but my mom wanted them and now, they're my go to. Point is, most likely everything you order here will be much better than expected. The burgers are big, and served with crispy waffle fries (HELL YES!!!) cole slaw, and a pickle. You get the sense every ingredient is treated well, and with care. Supposedly, the Mexican food is out of bounds here as well. I would love to try, but I just can't yet deviate from the BBQ cheddar bacon burger, or the French dip, served with provolone cheese and a lovely au-jus. My idea of a perfect night is seeking refuge from an imminent snowstorm at Copperfields while a fire is lit. Warm, cozy, plenty of delicious beer, and good company. And now, I'm thirsty.

Not as great as previous reviewers had lead me to expect. Food was so-so and server was not terribly attentive. We won't be back.

I love this place. its a nice homey, relaxed environment and you get great food for a good price. Check out 111 burger nights on Mondays! I tried the irish burger that has mashed potaoes and gravey on it. Very creative choices.

I hate to let the cat out of the bag, but Copperfields has arguably the best tap beer selection in Orange County and possibly the Hudson Valley. 33 well thought out lines of unique and sought after beer. You won't dislike the mozzarella sticks and burgers either...

One of my favorite bars w great food as well! I love all their food but but my 2 favorite dishes are the grilled veggie wrap and the florentine wrap (I'm a vegetarian). Waffle fries are the best fries around & they have awesome pickles. As a vegetarian it's not always easy to find a variety of dishes to pick from and I never feel like that at copperfields. Lots of options even for a veg head. Bar is cozy; love the place.

Totally disappointing. I remember the food being great here. I got the Swiss mushroom burger with onion rings. It was ok. The onion rings were fantastic. But you can't go wrong with beer battered onion rings. The kids got penne with butter and Mac and cheese. Kinda expensive for just a small plate of pasta with a drink. I feel the prices for the adult meals were ok but too expensive for the kids meal. My husband got the turkey club. It barely had mayo on it. The waitress only had 3 small tables but she was slow and only came by once to see how the food was. I had to get her for food boxes and the check. Hubby said his food was crap now. Ah well I guess we won't be back. (He always pays the check) ;)

We were traveling from Norwich, CT to Corning, NY and needed a good spot to stop for dinner. Not wanting to stop at a gas station convenience place we found this cozy place to have a great casual meal. My Guiness was well poured and all the food came out rather quickly and was just as we expected. The pub atmosphere was a perfect environment after our all day real estate conference.

We had been looking for some new local eateries to enjoy. Went here a few weeks ago based on Yelp reviews. We went on a Friday night for dinner. The ambiance was definitely more bar than dining when we were there. Probably not a place I would go again with my 4yo daughter, at least not on a Friday night. We had the Buffalo Shrimp (not sure what they were called) for App. They were basically fried balls of breading. There were almost no shrimp to be found. We both had the French Dip for our dinner and this was very tasty. The waffle fries weren't the best but the sandwich was very good. Had about half a dozen good beers on tap. I started with a Long Trail Belgian Wheat which was Meh, and I can't remember what I had for my 2nd round, except that whatever it was was served to me in a plastic solo cup. Sufficient glassware seems like an essential aspect of running a bar, but what do I know??

Ok, game over. They've added a ton of new draft lines, two entire towers I think, to now offer great tasting local and/or craft brews at a great price. Usually one or two craft beers will be $2 or $3 which you can't beat anywhere else. They even do flights. If you're looking for good beer, this is your best bet, probably in a 30 mile radius if not more. My wife and I are actually considering moving to Montgomery, partly because of Copperfields and partly for the dog park. In addition, we've discovered this 101 Burger menu they have on Mondays and Tuesdays with literally 101 different burgers and they're buy one get one half off or free...you know we really don't pay attention because it's awesome. Plus there's a drink discount in there somewhere too....and the wings are still awesome. Look, in the five months we've known Copperfields, they've only continued to improve in service and selection...something that is quite a feat in a quaint small town!

Best pub with best pub food. This place has over 20 beers on tap, including my favorite Magic Hat #9. My favorite days to go are Monday and Tuesday. On these days they have a special hamburger menu which consists off 101 choices and are buy one get one free. Places get busy on weekend nights and has an outdoor patio open during the summer. If you are in the area check it out.

I went here on the reccomendation of a friend who comes here on a regular basis. This place is your typical Irish pub, but its supposed to serve above-average bar food and it does. Unlike most bars the place is very clean with a nice outdoor seating area in the back. Service was very friendly and efficient, and most importantly the beer selection was good with Dogfish Head on bottle as well as some other good stuff. For starters we have the fried calamari, and then I had the shepard's pie as a main. While my friend who reccomended the place absolutely loves the calamari, I thought it was just ok. The rings were huge and meaty, but the coating wasn't much and the tomato suace it came with sucked. For the record, my friend told me afterwards that he gets this with 4 different sauces, but I digress. My shepard's pie was very good though, and to be honest I'm not the biggest shepard's pie fan. The mashed potatoes on top were whipped, crisp, and had a perfect consistency. The meat and peas inside was very good although I wasn't wild about how much spice they used. I did enjoy it though, and when I tried my brothers chicken tenders I was very impressed: freshly made, thin and crisp. These Irishmen obviously care about what they do, and I will be back to try their buffalo chicken tenders which are supposed to be great!

Copperfield's managed to serve me the most DELICIOUS wrap I've ever had in my life. It was of the Buffalo persuasion, and it was the perfect amount of spicey hotness, and still left me feeling like I was doing something healthy by ordering a wrap. The ambiance is very local-classy -- there are regulars adorning the bar, the seating area has a kind of homey bar feel, and the crowd is overall very welcoming. I can't wait to go back here, because the food they're dishing up? It's made with heart, it isn't just your typical bar food.

I have yet to sit at the bar, so my times here have been dinner, and unfortunatly im really never impressed with anything there. Its looked the same as it always has since I was a kid. And i'd mention something about the food but obviously its not all that memoriable... On the other hand I have close friends who LOVE this place, maybe next time I'll order what they're having or try something from the bar.

I have been to this place twice when driving between the Poconos and Hartford, to meet a friend who lives in the area. It is definitely a friendly environment and the food is great. I had an order of wings and Chicken Fingers, my girlfriend had a Buffalo Chicken wrap. I cannot remember what my friends ate (but who cares about them anyway??). The prices are pretty good too. We had 4 people eating, some with appetizers, and we eat had at least 2 drinks and our bill was 80 bucks, which I found reasonable. The server was extremely nice, and the service was quick. The owner also was there hanging out at the corner of the bar drinking and eating and having a good time with the regulars.

Apparently, Sam and I are the only people who have enjoyed this place enough to Yelp it. That, or no one in Montgomery has heard of Yelp. Montgomery is pretty lame like that, hence why we moved to Chicago. On to the food...the BEST! The Super Nachos here are the best plate of food I have ever had. Refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeos, salsa, sour cream...I have dreams about these Nachos. I have tried a lot of other nachos, but have never found anything equivalent. I miss this place the most from my time in NY. I would drive out of my way to have these nachos again.

the food at copperfield's is fantastic. from the thick, juicy burgers, to a very nice selection of authentic and delicious mexican fare, this is a great place to eat. the full menu is offered at the bar, dining room, and also the outdoor 'beer garden'. seating at the bar can be a bit packed depending on the day and time, but the dining room has a very comfortable feel, even when full. i checked good for kids, but please keep in mind that it is a bar, so the noise level may be a bit louder than some restaurants. and if you are going out on a friday or saturday evening, the bar crowd can be somewhat vocal at times, although management does what they can to keep it down for the dining crowd. the downstairs dining room is far enough away to have a good eating environment. they have local bands on weekends and it is the best place around to catch the yankee games.
