Atmosphere is the best you will find in the entire Tug Hill area. As far as the food? Nothing different than anything you would get at the various other diners or slop houses up that way. They do have more variety on their menu compared to other places up there but nothing we had was prepared well. Side order of veggies were frozen from bag and rubbery, Portabella sandwich tasted like we were eating a hamburger (filthy grill). If this place was anywhere else I would have rated it 2 stars. I gave it 3 because of the outside and inside appearance and the fact that it sits in Tug Hill area which makes it shine compared to the other local places.

In town for a wedding and we were staying at the hotel directly behind it. We ate there Friday night and went back again on Saturday after the reception. There isn't a lot around and this place was a great find. It is deceiving as to it's size and how busy it is. There was only 2 cars out front Sat night but the place was packed. Patrons from the hotel I guess. Inside the restaurant is divided with the bar to the left and the dining room on the right. The restaurant was neat with a babbling brook that flowed through the dining rooms and the walls had images of forests. There were solid white trees with white lights, and even a woodpile was stacked in the corner. We probably had just under 20 for dinner on Friday night. The service was awesome and handled separate checks without a hassle. No one had a bad thing to say about their food and everyone seemed very happy. Don't be afraid if your in the area to check it out it is worth it!

Interesting place, But super slow service took well over 40 minutes for food to come out of the kitchen. Note it was nothing complicated a hamburger, grilled cheese and a BLT. It was so slow that the waiter offered us samples of their homemade ice cream to take some of the time. The interesting part of the place was they have a stream running through the middle of the dining room and they have a tree and it's all lit up that is cool but does not make up for the very very slow service. Food was OK no complaints there other than it took for ever to come out of the kitchen. Maybe some other time we will try this place again and only pray that the service is faster on that visit.

It was 10 degrees out and we were on a 7 hour road trip to Canton NY to look at a college. I was with two HS kids. We were in the middle of remote upper state NY and were starving and there were no chain stores in sight. We came across "Boondocks Restaurant". The outside of the building looked inviting with the snowmobiles and ATVs up on top. Inside the restaurant is divided with the bar to the left and the dining room on the right. It was empty as it was early. The interior was interesting! A babbling brook went through the dining rooms and the walls had images of forests. There were solid wide trees with white lights. A woodpile was in the corner. The lighting in our booth was nice to read the menu by. We ordered a steak and cheese sandwich, pasta with marinara, onion soup, cheese sandwich (special request they said they could make it). The service was good -- the place had interesting decor and the food was generously portioned. On the way out a bunch of snowmobiles were descending on the place. Boondocks was a nice find and we may go back again when passing through.

The french onion steak and chicken cordon Bleu was scrumptious. The service was fast and was a lovely atmosphere, a stream flows through the dining room, so cool!!!! Definitely will visit again! !!!

Boondocks Restaurant has a very special atmosphere which is unique with the creek running through the restaurant. I had a Philly Steak sandwich which was good however not exceptional. Limited beer on draft selection. The waitress was very attentive was very patience with our party in their selection for lunch.

Boondocks in front of the Edge Hotel in Lyons Falls is a very cool bar/restaurant pool table big TV for sports viewing. Rustic feel in both bar and restaurant, good food and service. What more could you want.

Food was great.. Prefer real food to fast food garbage any day. Way out the way from where I stay but would gladly eat there again next time I'm out that way. Menu might be limited, but they had close to 10 "gourmet" burgers, I chose the blue cheese burger and it melted in my mouth. Lastly loved the fact that it is extremely clean, hate how so many food service business have given up on cleanliness..

We went to dinner here roughly a month ago on our scenic trip to the 1000 islands. Needless to say we were not impressed. The food, service, environment & parking lot were all a disaster from the start. The service/food = I asked for onion petals (while pointing to them in the menu) with my phillysteak sandwich but when they arrived they were sweet potato fries? I questioned the server about the error & she had advised me they do not sell onion petals like shown in the picture, they were potato fries. When asked why she did not correct me when I asked for onion petals, she stated "that's not what you ordered". When asked why she did not read the order back, she stated "i know what I'm doing". At this point with the waitress becoming visibly upset, I figured best not to ask for an order of actual onion rings or even regular fries. The sandwich was burnt in the oven somehow while the middle was actually cold & soggy. Parking lot was full of puddles like it had been raining for weeks. Best part it hadn't rained in days there (don't know for sure as I am not a local but nothing else was wet around the area). Pot holes galore on the way in & out of the restaurant. Environment was dimly lit up & rather smelly. The restroom was disgusting to say the least. I guess the moral of the story on this one is you as the customer you need to double check your order, the staff certainly didn't at the boondocks.

Ok just Ok. Great Draft beer. Cheese steak dry, over done. Nice staff, must have been a off night.

The food is very disappointing - entrees are obviously prepared from frozen items and often cold in spots. Had a turkey dinner special and Stouffers makes a better meal out of a microwave. Steaks are decently prepared but not the best cuts. Service is usually poor as well with unhappy seeming servers and hostesses. Head up the hill to the SteaknBrew for a better meal.

Strange place - river running through it and "trees". But clean and new looking. Food was good! Had the Philly and Tangled steak sandwiches. Yum. Steamers were plentiful and fresh. A nice find

The interior is rather magical with the tree in the center, the stream running by it and the beautiful twinkling lights hanging from the ceiling. We were there for a Make-A-Wish event and the staff was very accommodating and very friendly. Food was great and our wish family had a wonderful time. Anxious to go back again and bring our family. Was such a fun experience!

Its nice to have a new option in the area, and this one has been long awaited. We went this week when it opened, rather excited to go try it out. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The kids loved the little rock bed and fake tree in the middle of the place. The Menu is fair, nothing over the top, and a reasonable amount of choices. Their menu is available on their website. They were taking surveys for daily special preferences, which I thought was a great idea as it will give a bit more ability to bring something special out of the kitchen. The food itself was good to average. Hopefully they bring some more unique specials to the table that really stand out. As for the service, the staff was friendly and attentive. We ended up with an delay with our food, but the management handled it well, and we will happily return to give them a second chance.

Delightful surprise. We worried some about a very limited menu for Easter buffet and a price a bit lower than anyone else's that we could find. The opinions of the cooking we read were - generally not inviting. The selections of ham and roast beef, mashed potatoes and deviled eggs were hardly out of the ordinary. The mystery broccoli salad turned out to be a cooked dish that was quite excellent. The quiche was nothing to write home about. On the other hand the roast beef had been slow cooked to perfection and was far from the stringy, tasteless mess that most non-carved roast beef is. We liked and will probably be back. Best, Terry

Location on rt. 12 is a big plus. Atmosphere is unique with the center tree and a flowing stream. Service was good and attentive to patron's needs. Menu was typical and specials were posted. Prices were reasonable.
