We arrived at apple bees in bay plaza around 1 pm Sunday 9/21/2014 for lunch on my wife's birthday weekend when we asked for seating for 5 people they told us that there was a 15 minute wait and would be seated shortly. Even though there was a few tables big enough to accommodate us ...25 minutes later we get seated in one of the same tables that was empty when we got in none the less we where already pressed for time because our movie was starting in less then an hour so when we sat we quickly ordered drinks and our food as we didnt want waste any more time ......it took them about 30 mins to just get our drinks and they had the nerve to send out our appetizers with out a single drink!!!! after getting our drinks and asking them to replace our apps. because they where ice cold by the time the drinks came we waited another 20 still no food now we only ordered burgers and fries it should have never taken that long so we asked for a manager and he promised us he would personally be handling our table and rushing our order .....another 15 mins and he was coming to our table with another bs reason why our food wasn't ready we all got up and told him we would like to cancel the order because the order was taking to long he had the nerve to stop us and hold us in the restaurant against our will asking us to pay for the drinks we had and the 1 app that did find it to our table .... instead of treating us to a free meal or drink or even a discount this so called manager ruined my image of apple bees for life last time i will eat there ! your BS managers name was STEVEN!!!! I Personally own a Restaurant in the Bronx and because of places like this you give little to be expected of visiting an establishment in the Bronx

The service sucks the wait is so bad 15 mins for a table I had some chicken fingers and when I got them they were dry and tasted burned I wouldn't recommend eating here just come for the drinks

A step up from McDonald's. My vodka crans were good. The Bahama mama and the frozen mango strawberry nargharetta not so much. The app sampler could have been hotter.

The only reason that I even went to Applebees is because I got a giftcard. I should've just regifted it. First I ordered mango iced tea and it tasted like spoiled fruit. I asked for it to be returned and then ordered a strawberry daquiri which tasted like it was spiked with Pepto Bismol. We were brought our meals with no utensils. We ordered water 4 times with no success. It is a disgrace that other customers seated around us continuously had complaints and needed to speak with the manager. Why is this place so gross? It has been years since I've stepped foot in an Applebee's and I'm done. Nothing has changed. Disgusting food, disgusting employees and a waste of money.

I always feel silly reviewing a fast-food restaurant, but I made a commitment to review everywhere I check in: so here's to that! I was in the plaza that this Applebees is located in, and we were set to watch a movie in the theatre behind Applebees. Therefore, it seemed like a reasonable place to eat given our time restraint, and situation. We sat at the bar, and ordered the "2 for 20" deal. (My friend and I are both young professionals who are trying to save money for big plans in our future). In any case, we ordered the boneless chicken wings, blackened tilapia, and grilled chicken oriental salad. Boneless chicken wings (3/5) - Not the best I've had, but also definitely not the worst I've had. I appreciate that the "chicken wing" is actually white breast meat, and that the breading on it is not too thick. I don't appreciate how much sauce is on them, but I tend to like very little sauce in my food. Blackened tilapia (2/5) - It was actually pretty good fish. HOWEVER, if you're going to call it "BLACKENED tilapia"....it must live up to it's name. I've had blackened fish elsewhere, and it's usually close to black. The fish at this place looked more sautéed than anything else. It's served with decent potato wedges and veggies. Service was a little slow for a fast-food restaurant, but hey. Bottom line: A fast-food restaurant is a fast-food restaurant, so don't expect Michelin grade food. You pay for what you get in life. Feel free to stop by if you're in a rut, but don't go out of your way to swing by.

What an awful experience, went here to grab a quick bite and it all turned into a 2 hours fiasco!! Please spear yourself that bad experience and avoid this place at all cost. The restaurant was 1/4 full only tables around the bar were occupied we were seated nearby all occupied tables. It took exactly 37 minutes for a server to even come to our table after we asked the hostess who seem to care very little. The server came apologizing for the ridiculous wait she put us through and took our orders then came back 13 min later saying they had ran out if ingredients for one of our picks so we had to settle for something else, we only order water and soda as drink options were also limited because of lack of ingredients (no big deal we had been seated for almost an hour and just wanted something to drink and eat). Everyone was careless and rude unlike the atmosphere at other Apple bees in other areas and unlike the company standard and policies (years ago I went through the company's training before I decided to go with another job offer and I remember the week long training with corporate trainers was fantastic they foster an upbeat, friendly professional environment with world class customer service) non of that present here, the staff were like wide animals without direction. Our drinks came, which took another 7-10 minutes, that was record time as the appetizers took over 20 mins to come out just in time for the spectacle of the night!! A fight broke down at a group table across the bar from us (some dispute about the shared bill among the table's members mixed in with personal issues) these people were loud and cursed their breaths off we heard glass braking (dingy bar fight style) one guy took one of the ladies out held by the waist while she screamed and and kicked at the air (this was not the restaurant fault but no manager it staff ever approached the table to try to deescalate the issue while it was boiling and before it got out of control. #careless) We realized that there were more servers and cooks than the amount if people being served when all except the bartender went out to see the fight develop in the parking lot, as did some other guess including my husband and when our server who was also outside with the manager saw him she yelled at him "YO DID YOU PAY YOUR BILL?" to what he replied "my wife is at the table we are still waiting to get our entries, clearly I'm not making an exit just here looking at what you all find so entertaining" A couple minutes later he comes back to the table and soon comes the server and the manager to apologize for her rudeness outside. Because they all went outside including the cooks this delayed our entries another 20 mins to the point that we were no longer hungry we asked for it to go and asked for the check which the manager (with pants half way down his butt) brought himself and apologize for the wait and the servers nasty attitude.

One thing I learned about working at restaurants and being a guest at dozens, is that speed of service and delivery is highly important. Took about 15 minutes to be greeted. Another 15-minute for drinks. And a 30+ minute for food with young kids is not a good thing at all. I am frequent visitor at Applebee's at the Parkchester location, but this location showed me that some Applebee's may just not be up to par. I'll stick with my home location and next time I'm in this area, I'll be taking the family to BBQ's

I'm an apple bees fan but this one is terrible! Upon walking in the music is so loud it hurts your ears. While the service is most definitely slow that's not even the problem ... 3 tables were not bused when we walked in 2 tables left and now 45 minutes later tables around me are still dirty. Glasses have been removed slowly but there is no wiping of the tables what so ever. Completely grossed out! There saving grace is that the chains food is good so it makes up for the horrible service. Can't forget to mention the hostess is on a different planet completely spaced out.

Do not like it here, the drinks are expensive and they suck, it's all juice and ice. They should close it down, they suck.

The second to worst Applebee's in the Bronx. Poor service, food and drinks. Manager at this location needs to be retrained on how to run a business. Quality of the food needs help. Attention to detail a must at this location. Employees don't work as a team. You would think with the added new restaurants in coop city they would get their act together. SMH btw the worst Applebee's in the Bronx is the one in Riverdale next to Target, bad!

Waiter was an idiot and he got my drinks messed up twice back to back. He was too busy on his phone to pay attention to anything and he would disappear for long periods of time. Service was extremely slow. When I asked for new utensils my waiter asked me why and then said I can use the same dirty ones. After I complained to the manager she didn't seem interested. Interestingly enough another employee there said it was not the first complaint about that waiter and he is always almost disrespectful to customers.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The service is terrible...the staff is slow. We wanted a bday song for our daughter and the waitress forgot. We got the dessert and were halfway done with it by the time she got back to do the song. They run out of desserts, the tomato basil soup was salty, it tasted burnt, and the croutons were stale. We asked for lemons in our water and the lemons were bad. We've been here before and figured we'd give it another chance. Bad idea! Never again. This location is horrible...

I think this may be the first time this has ever happened to me at Applebees. Upon entering the restaurant we were cordially greeted and seated at the bar and that was the extent of their service. We sat by the bar waiting for service for close to 20 mins, we didn't even get a "hello" Chubby lady behind the bar had a face like if the whole bar owed her money, pretty stank personality from what we gathered. Needless to say we walked out and took our business elsewhere. Applebees please step it up, "Juanita's Cuchifrito Shack" has a much better approach and overall service...this shouldn't be happening.

I wish you can give a business a negative score! Never will I go to another Applebee's because of this place in bay plaza. I went there a few months ago with my family (4 adults 2 kids). Everything we order was disgusting! The kids pizza was quesadilla bread burnt almost no sauce and cheese. The chicken vegetable soup didn't have chicken. The bacon cheeseburger (ordered medium) was just burnt salty no taste. Grilled chicken wrap was cold. The food came out a plate at a time. Took 45 minutes for all us to get our food from when the first entree came out. I complained to the waitress which really tried to help. 1st manager said she will take care of some of the items because of quality and service. We didn't even finish our food and I asked for the check thinking it would be reduced. The manage only took off the pizza which my daughter refused to eat. I was highly upset and asked for the a manager. Guess what it was a new manager and I had to explain everything. I told him I refuse to pay around $130 for food and service that was not up to par. That the other manager was going to work with me and take off items and apologized but she didn't do squat! I wasn't looking for a free meal either just a comp for the items of horrible food I got. At this manager saw the frustration on my face and tone. He said "I can't force you to pay for this food". And ripped the check up in front of my face. Which I was thankful for but also upset at how he did it. He apologize for the service and hoped I will come back another day. Service was so bad that even if I were offered free food I wouldn't go. I rather go to Burger King a few stores down and get a good burger compared to what they serve at Applebee's. We actually went and got McDonald's after because none of us could finish our food and were still hungry. Applebee's is not my neighborhood grill!!!

I've been to this Applebee's a few times for early dinners and I've never had an issue. It's an Applebee's so I'm not expecting an amazing experience. I am, however, expecting decent service, and I've always had nice servers. As a matter of fact, the last time I went, I requested to have my cowboy burger without a bun and though the server had never heard of such a request, he made sure that I got it how I wanted it. The drinks here are good, though the happy hour specials are only available at the bar. I've never had to wait too long for my food to come out, but admittedly, I try to visit before it gets too late and crowded with mall patrons. I know that once things get hectic the service can tend to slip, as evidenced by many of the other reviews. Overall I don't have any complaints about this location, and whenever I'm in the mall and looking for a simple, cheap meal and some drinks, Applebee's gets the job done.

I've been to this Applebee's a couple times and one thing has been consistent, the customer service sucks. It sucks in the context that it takes a while to get to order and waiters are inattentive, although polite. The food is decent and average for an Applebee's franchise, although the wings weren't as good as others. The place is clean and the hostess are usually good with prompt waiting time.

    1. I wasn't greeted. 2. I wasn't greeted when I got to the bar. 3. I wasn't waited on until I asked for a menu. 4. I was rushed to order. 5. Ordered mild boneless wings, they weren't fresh not hot (as in temperature), but I was starving so I ate them. 6. Ended up just putting them in a togo box because I got bored. 7. Ordered a quesadilla burger later on, came out fresh and delicious. Staff: I sat at the bar--- The taller bartender is nice, very busy with making drinks while the other tiny one looks confused and is forgetful. But she was sweet. Tall bartender took my quesadilla burger order and tiny one took my wing order...... I've come here before the food was mediocre each time, and this is my last time coming here. Recommends: you get a friendly staff, people who actually give a fck, and bring out fresh food! :)

HORRIBL! Like the worsttt Applebee's EVER! There was black things floating around in my drink and they was doing the MOST just to give me another one. I didn't drink it, and right after I got it I brought it back to the bar and they going to tell me I had to find my super slow server, by the name of Carmella, who was just slow, took forever with our drinks and the food. Horrible service, I will never come here again. They only in business because it's in the damn mall, and ppl are going to come here regardless PLUS! To top it off the bathroom is nasty. I got so sick to my stomach. I didn't even wanna wash my hands in there.

It serves your typical good Applebee's fare, but the service is lacking at times. That can use some improvement. Once, I ordered dessert, and had to cancel because it took so long. My movie at the nearby A.M.C. Movie Theater was going to start. It is a good family restaurant, but this location can use improvement.

What happened?? Used to really love the food here. Portions have gotten smaller and the food doesn't taste the same. I ordered a burger and fries. I asked for my burger well done and it had some pink in it. My fries were so hard I almost chipped a tooth. I ordered the blue ribbon brownie which is supposed to come with a warm brownie..mines was cold. I used to live I'm Co op city and this was a good spot. It doesn't even seem like the same place. Farewell Applebee's on to better places.

Favorite place to go. Their steaks and burgers are fantastic. I can eat 10 of those grilled chicken wonton tacos. I NEVER had problems with the service. Don't understand the negative reviews

Between the time we got there waited to be seated and finally served it was more than an hour wait. The food was not freshly cooked but looked like it had been lying around for hours. Charged 40 dollars for garbage food. Anywhere else we would have paid half for doubled the amount that was served. The only reason why I didn't contact the manager for a full refund was because my girlfriend didn't want me to make a scene. Don't I repeat don't eat here if you're looking for quality food and service. MacDonald s has much tastier.

The wait was reasonable, the waiter was friendly, the food was as expected, glorified fast food. The bill was $40.00 for 3 people, not bad, but I did have a 10% off coupon and they took off only 90 cents. Who does the math??? I didn't say anything and paid it along with a generous tip. The nerve of them to charge an extra 50 cents for a tiny spoonful of grated cheese to go on top of my spaghetti dish. That is awful of them to nickel and dime at this place. Since when? I've been coming here for years. Nice knowing you Applebee, won't be back !!!

One of the worst Applebees I've ever been too . We waited 20 to get water then we ordered waited another 45 min for appetizers in which we decided to walk out . DONT COME HERE BELIEVE ME .

Awful customer service. No napkins for a table of four. Waitress not attentive. Restrooms are filthy. Staff is not well attentive to their guest. Truly not happy. Food was okay.

  • Nella V.

When this location first opened, it wasn't half bad (where fast food is concerned). However, this place has become grossly incompetent and the quality of the "food" is currently lower than the worst burger joint. Upon my last visit: 1.) The kitchen and wait staff messed up my order, more than once. (All I ordered was a grilled chicken salad). 2.) The salad that I ordered had lettuce that hadn't been washed. This was evident from the sand that I bit into. *yuck* I will not come back to this location, and encourage you not to patronize this particular restaurant.

Terrible service. Went here with friends after a movie and I really hope I never have to go back. Forgotten drinks, meals, salad dressings... and overall long wait to order and to receive food.

Why anyone would choose to go to Applebees is beyond me. The food was mediocre. I cook better at home, which is where I should have stayed. Even if someone treated me to lunch at Applebees, I wouldn't step foot in that place. I knew there was a reason why I stopped going, it all came flodding back. Yuck.

Man, I should've read the reviews before coming to this place. This is by far, the worst Applebee's on the face of the earth. The service had been the worst service out of any restaurant I have ever experienced. After waiting a really long time for our food, it came out out bland, room temperature, and stale. I had to ask for my own refill, my own forks, knives, and napkins. Ketchup was empty. No big deal the server just switched it with another table. Now they had an empty ketchup bottle. Oh and this place is a pig sty. After eating only half of my disgusting meal, I waited and waited for the check. While I was waiting, we sat in our mountain of plates because no one ever cleared our table. The dishes from appetizers to our main course we're just sitting there. No one gives a shit in this place. I wanna fire everyone from the owner all the way down to the dishwasher. Don't waste your time coming here. You'll get diarrhea if you do. lol

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! For the love of God, AVOID!!! Went there yesterday with the family after a day at Pelham Bay Park, we was going to head to red robin for some burgers but our son loves Applebee's so we went there instead. Boy was that a major mistake. We waited for about 15 minutes to get our seat. Our waiter was a nice and friendly guy however that's it. He was forgetful, didn't clean up the table after we were done with a dish, didn't bring forks or napkins until I asked. I asked for ketchup because our bottle was entry, the waiter takes a ketchup from other table, gives it to us and places the empty one at the table he took the bottle from. I mean, what in the world is wrong with this place? Management does not care because if they did, they would be on top of everyone. The music was so loud it was as if we were in a club, other tables had piles of dishes that no one would clean up, which would explain the long wait for seating. We waited forever for our food and the food was terrible, cold, and stale! So bad that my husband had stomach issues afterwords. We wanted to get the hell out off the pace but even our check took for ever. If I could give them no stars, that would be best but I can't so they have one smh. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!!!

Was driving by and figured a quick bite- in and out.... Not quite. Friendly host staff who don't communicate = me suggesting to be seated or else! This happened after a server came to the host stand to say hello to friends and took menus to seat then first!! Seated and waiting for a server to walk by- every server except mine- then she shows up. Not bad 12 minutes cause yes my timer is running boys and girls. Ordered simple dishes so there wouldn't be a reason for delay.... But there was a delay. It was buzzing- a busy lunch. Told server to bring apps WITH the food, condiments, drinks and the check. She got none of the above completed. And whispered " did you ask me for condoms" Bathrooms were NASTY! toilet roll ON the floor Food was bland- but hot! Manager came by- nice guy- Jose- acknowledged and apologized for series of mishaps I'm too tired to mention. I would PASS on this place if you're looking for a fast meal and good service. Maybe mcdonalds or checkers down the block, red robin? Or just go home and order Chinese takeout. They always get it right!

This place doesn't even deserve a 1-star.... If I could give it a 0, I would. Bad customer service; and I witnessed some waiters talking over someone's birthday dessert for more than 5 mins; imagine how much saliva that poor person ate. Long wait!! Order takes forever! Food is not always freshly cooked! Me and my family waited almost an hour and I had to ask where my food at and I threatened to leave. Little after our food came out cold..... Go elsewhere if you can..... Please AVOID going here....they don't deserve people's money..... Worst Applebee's ever!!! Will NEVER go back there!

The hostess was so rude. She told everyone different wait times, and it was clearly wrong. After I asked her if she skipped our name she said no they were waiting for a bigger table, but proceeded to seat parties of 6 and 7 who arrived after. My friend went back to check and she claimed she missed our name because it was at the top. This apple bees is horrible. I would avoid it at all costs. I will never come back. I advise other people to avoid it too.

This place is always packed!!!! So this Applebee's is located within the Bay Plaza Mall. The fact of them always being crowded definitely affects the service provided to the guest. The nicest people have to the host and hostes because all they do is greet and seat you. The crowd is often a rough crowd. Giving the servers a hard time, being inpatient, and just really ruining the experience for the rest of guest at the restaurant. I actually gave this restaurant a second try because I understood the waitress and the hard time her other tables were giving her. My first visit was with my girl friend, my best friend and his date for the night. We waited about 40 minutes to be seated. When we were sat we didn't even order alcohol, instead just order sodas and the waitress still managed to get the soda wrong. Come on lady its just soda's and only four of us. My best friend and I just ordered a sampler each with comes with a bunch of appetizers on a plater. That was another 25-30 minute wait. Then had to ask for plates and silverware. Like really? I understand plates but silverware? Really?? So the waitress said ok and she will but never came back. 10 minites later I asked again. Nothing. Then i asked one more time and with an attitude she finally brought some plates and silverware. By that time my food was cold and we had a conversation over cold appetizers and not a soda of preference. She obviously didn't receive a tip. However I understood everything with the crowdedness and being extremely busy. So yesterday we were in the neighborhood to watch a movie at the AMC Bay Plaza theatre. We arrived early so we decided to give Applebee's a second chance for a cold brew and some appetizers. But this team we sat at the bar. The beers came quick good. But then a half hour wait for appetizers. Come on now for appetizers. Im done with this place. If you dont mind waiting 40 mintes to be seated and then asking multiple times for silverware, this is the place for you.

I went to this location for happy hour. It turned out to be a very sad 45min. They had no tequila, no limes. They had no nachos, & only 1 kind of beer. This restaurant should not be called Applebee's it should be called BYOB. Never again.

Note: this rating is based on my experience with certain employees, and NOT the food as I have yet to dine at this restaurant. Usually the encounter with a hostess, and other workers around and the way they speak or how they help you and even how they approach certain situations is a tell-tale sign of the social environment as a whole. Truth be told, I've come across more employees with scowl's on their faces and lousy attitudes than cheerful employees. These people (who I believe are in their early 20s or possibly very late teens) obviously have their head in the sand and are unaware of the reality of the fact that they can easily be released and replaced in today's economy. They should be grateful for the jobs they have and the fact that they are getting paid something, when others are still unemployed. For a bunch of young people, (and I'm young myself... probably not much older than they are, but about several years) their faces and overall attitudes look like they are miserable. Personally, I don't give a rats a..... how miserable they are. They need to learn how to check their personal garbage at the door. When I applied here the first time, there were about three or four people by the host area chatting about garbage. When I ask for a manager, they ask me why. I tell them.. then they tell me "he's busy" and continue to chat away garbage as if I wasn't there. Maybe they should have just told me he was busy to begin with, and not ask me why, only to tell me "he's busy". Something about that didn't smell right. Then, I ask when can I get a hold of him.. the girl at the host table gave me ridiculous look as if I asked something in another language. (What an idiot!). After a few seconds of awkwardness, one of the girls decided to help and tell me to come in Mon - Wed from 11a. - 2p. Yeah... that was real hard ladies... .. (idiots) I was turned off by this strange approach and left. I went back a second time, and actually saw a friendly hostess who actually helped. Although the manager had just left. Still... nice girl, great personality it seemed and cheerful. I go by a third time several weeks later around that time period, and I come across a heavy set young girl at the host table (with a huge cleavage exposure haha... a raunchy looking broad with a bad attitude). I ask for the manager, she asks why... I tell her. Then she tells me "they're all busy". Same BS as before. Ask me why, to tell me they're busy. The girl looked like a liar, as she could not even give me direct eye contact. I honestly believe she did not want to help out of some weird spite. (And I didn't even know this B.....) Then when I ask for a specific manager that I have heard worked there, she tells me he was transferred out... which is fine and understandable. Then I get a ridiculous and awkward look from her for no reason at all like I owed her money. Give me a break.... The other girl nearby didn't help either just gave me an evil stare like a hawk. I guess I must have interrupted a veeeerrry serious conversation they were having. Yeah... that must be it. I get the feeling that morale is either very low at this place, or these people have a lot of disgusting baggage in their lives. Very shady too. Sucks for them, and I could care less. They shouldn't take it out on customers or people applying for a job, or anything of that nature. That's their problem. Leave it all at the door, and do your job! I'd say it's either hit or miss with the employees. But from what I can tell, most of the workers I encountered are miserable and would probably make horrible co-workers. They probably make even worse friends. I went on, and applied at another Applebee's, where a majority of the staff had better morale and the women acted a lot more normal. They actually gave eye contact, wanted to help, and appreciated their job.... WOW! Unbelievable isn't it?!

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I wouldn't come back to this shitty establishment if this was the only place to eat on Earth. I never seen such unprofessionalism in my life. I know I shouldn't expect much from Applebee's but everyone should have standards. Please avoid this place at all cost.

Early dinner with the family. The food was good and met basic expectations. Just a few things: Napkins, Silverware, appetizer plates and a glass of water should always be on the table before we even order. There should be better coordination between the kitchen and the servers because the wrong food was brought to the wrong tables a few times.

Okay, okay, okay... I know, I know... "OMG AMELIA YOU'RE AN ELITE AND YOU'RE REVIEWING AN APPLEBEE'S IN THE BRONX?! YOU MUST HAVE ZERO TASTE BUDS!" But let's be real here. It was a Sunday night, I was hungry, my boyfriend was hungry, and the Jamaican restaurant we wanted to go to was closed so we begrudgingly had to get back on the bus. It was too late to go too far, nobody wanted the Chinese Buffet, Red Lobster smells funny, and I swear if I eat any more McDonald's I'm gonna puke... so what's left in the area? Applebee's. I was actually surprised that the place was empty and relatively quiet. The hostesses were nice and we only had to wait about three minutes for a table. Our server, Terrell, was actually really funny and nice. To our surprise, they have half off drinks and appetizers during football games. Granted the drinks are kind of weak, but whatever... it's cheap and I'm not gonna argue. The food is what you would expect, it's a step up from fast food but it's nothing gourmet. I would say it was an overall good time for a low key Sunday. Brotip: They will put flavored syrups in almost any drink. A strawberry flavored Long Island Iced Tea? Weird. SO weird.

Applebees wasn't anything to talk about. I ordered "Chicken and Portabellos". The dish consists of chicken, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, and potatoes covered in wine sauce. The chicken was undercooked, gummy, and unedible. I spat it out. The zucchini was the same - almost raw. The potatoes weren't memorable. It was over-saturated in wine sauce.

The Applebee's Grill & Bar in Co-Op City, located in the Bay Plaza Shopping Mall, is not bad as far as name brand franchise restaurants go. Usually, during the summer, when the family and I go to the movies we'll stop by Applebee's for an after movie meal. The food isn't bad. I've had everything from the steaks to the ribs and most of the food is pretty good. Not a bad place to stop by after work, the movies or shopping in Bay Plaza for a good sit down, have a decent meal and a few drinks. I would recommend going before early evening as this Applebee's does tend to get very busy on the weekend's at night.

If you go to Applebee's you usually expect a reasonably priced meal of satisfactory quality, in a casual, warm setting. This location is loud, and pricier than the norm. I will say, however, that the food was, for the most part, better than expected. I came in on a Friday night, and sat at the bar. The girl pouring drinks, who refused to crack a smile during my entire stay (except to a group of three younger patrons on the other side) took my drink and food orders in a timely fashion. I ordered the 12 oz. NY sirloin, with a baked potato. The steak was surprisingly good, and cooked to a perfect medium. I took small bites so I could enjoy it for a longer time. The accompanying broccoli was crunchy and well-seasond, and featured a generous amount of garlic. The baked potato was a micro-waved potato, and I don't have anything against that per se, but if you're going to mic. a spud, please make sure it is cooked all the way through. This one could have used another couple minutes in the zapper. The combination of better food, and less-than-perfect atmosphere works out to the same opinion I had of Applebee's before: Acceptable and consistent.

Always have a reasonable service- but lately service is unusually slow. You know what to expect in flavors and with specials you don't have to break the bank. Normally there's a wait because this is where bay plaza shopping traffic heads to eat- hopefully service will get better with competition from the new mall.

The redesign and changes in the menu turned this place around. Applebee's is always a go!!

I would change the name of this place to Crapplebee's. I was there with my family and the experience was terrible. We waited for happy hour and then the waiter was honest and told us that the appetizers are smaller and the drinks are made with cheap liquor. We asked for an appetizer and after hours of waiting it was there, followed by a "sorry there are no plates". I thought the waiter was joking, how could a franchise restaurant run out of clean plates hahahaha. We did not know if we wanted to laugh or cry. Then when the food was there we asked for Tabasco sauce. Guess what? NOOOOOO Tabasco hahahaha they ran out. Ok you would imagine the bad experience is over. My mom and dad wanted coffee and surprise. "Sorry we do not have coffee, would you like anything else". I wanted to tell him "yes please change the name to CrappleBee's so next time I know what to expect".

The worst steak I ever ate. Long wait for disappointment. The only good thing I could say is that the waiters are attentive.

I will be honest and say this is not the first negative review I've ever given. But Applebee's in Bay Plaza is the only place I've reviewed on Yelp that I nearly walked out of. Having been here before today, I always knew what to expect. Don't go during dinner. The food is good, but service and wait is always terrible. But today I went for just lunch with my father. A Sunday post-lunch before dinner crowd for just a burger meal. Nothing fancy. Not even Applebee's can screw that up right? Wrong. When we walked in we were greeted by a hostess who could not make it any more painfully obvious she did not want to be there. In a monotone voice welcoming us. The seater asked where to seat us as the hostess shrugged her shoulders. We sat down to eat waiting 10-15 minutes for a waitress. We then were told some weird story about how the other waitress was busy, but a new one in training would take our order. Obviously a lot of today's disaster would not be her fault, but it was basically a moment when you can tell things were not going to well. Anyway, we order the Philly burger. Five minutes later we get told they ran out of hoagie bread and could only use a regular bun. Then after waiting forever, the manager says our burger is coming. A minute later, the waitress comes back and says something about the kitchen being backed up but the burgers are coming. I tell her I'm confused since I was just told the burger was coming. But that's what he meant. Not that it was coming immediately. Go figure... We finally get our gooey but good burgers without forks, knives, our napkins. Forks and knives I understand not giving (they are burgers but hey they were gooey). But no napkins? She then says she'll get them, and then walks by us a minute later without them as we have to remind her again. Granted, The burger was decent. As I said before the food is decent but service is so slow. Also, the waitress was the least of our problems. She was nice and tried and we left a decent but not overly generous tip. And the mistakes I chalked up to being new and not that she didn't care. Anyone who claims they never made mistakes when they first started at their job are liars. The bad service was not really her fault but the way this place is ran. But the problem is everything else that usually happens in this Applebee's. Having to wait forever for a waitress. Having to wait forever for our food. Being told our food is ready when it wasn't by the manager. Having to ask for napkins. As one the above users suggested, they really do need to re-name this place Crapplebee's. My father was hungry and didn't want to leave. Otherwise, this would have been the first "restaurant" I ever walked out of. Yes, it was that bad.

I have come here many times and I've always enjoyed coming here but lately service has gone down. I am sorry to say that my experience here the last couple of times haven't been good. Food would come cold to the table and sometimes it would come wrong. Today our food came in a decent time but the kids food came after we had finished eating and that is after we had asked them for it. Twice mind you. This used to be my favorite place now I'm not too sure.

Worst experience every time! For the last 3 times i went to this applebees (within 4 years) i always had the worst experience and always managed to give them another chance. Last week, Me and my fiance' went here to eat and the several female hosts was unprofessional and seemed like they hated their jobs. I waited 20 mins for a party of 2, and once I arrived to my table which was wiped down by a bus boy, the table was extremely damp and it smelled like dirty dish water, and extremely sticky. i wiped the table down since is wasn't blatant enough for the waitress that the table was unacceptable. Waiter then solicited a drink that was on $5 special but after 20 minutes of waiting for it, I had to flag her down about the drink and she stated that "i forgot to let you know we dont have it." (inventory negligence). To conclude this, I received my steak and mash, good food but the lack of the waiter's professionalism, smelly and sticky table, and previous experience, i will never go back here again!!!!!

To be honest... First Applebee's I been to in The Bronx. I only go to the one on 42nd but my friend said lets give it a try. BBQ's is my favorite but at that time they were closed or remodeling so we said what can it hurt. Place is decorated nice and the atmosphere is cool. I like the fact you can sit and watch a game on their screens or better scene at the bar. It was pretty packed so it was a 15min wait for us. I ordered a Sangria which was weak but expected really. I had some pasta with a chicken ceasar salad and it was pretty good. Our waiter was pretty funny and pleasant until we tipped him $5. That's when his face and demeanor changed. My friend and I were disgusted... like really because you made a few jokes I need to pay you more then $5 on top of the gratuity you've already added. Get out of here, be appreciative!!. You guys are not a 5 star restaurant... it says NEIGHBORHOOD Bar and Grill for a reason. I will not dismiss this place completely for now because it did have a few great traits, but if it happens again I'll remain at 42nd even if it is a bit more pricey.

I really hate when I try to be like regular folk and go to chain restaurants. Granted my expectations were low but I didn't expect it would be remarkably sh--ty. We were out running errands in Coop City I suggested Checkers, but somehow we ended up here. The food was disgusting. There's no nice way of saying it. My mother who is an immigrant makes better pasta. How do you mess up pasta? The sauce was atrocious. I should have ordered some nachos or fries. At least my drink was decent.

Awesome if you like to wait an hour with teenagers. Decent food, staff doesn't seem to care too much about service though. Always too noisy and crowded

Although its always busy, this Applebee's located in the Bay Plaza Shopping Center in the Co-op City area of the Bronx isn't bad when it comes to the quality of the food or service of the wait staff, however, when it comes to waiting time, well that's another story. Weekends tend to be the worst when it comes to waiting for a table. Expect to catch up with your e-mails via your smartphone or watch sports games due to the heavy traffic of patrons who come in and out of this place. Food and drink are great and so is the wait staff. While I prefer the neighboring Friday's (TGIF) that is located across the highway from Bay Plaza, this location gets points for flavorful food and good drinks.

I hate Applebee's...all of them. The only 2 things I actually like to eat there are the spinach dip (though I've had better) and the appetizer sampler when I want a bunch of food that's no good for me anyway. I still can't stomach sitting in there long enough to eat it though, I walk around the corner and scarf it down on my patio around the corner. Yes, it's always around the corner now because I'd never waste my time at that place in any other part of the world. Depending on the borough (if in NYC) or city (I've eaten at others), the service can be either bad or "am I gonna have to slap this waitress before or after not tipping them?" I don't even like the name..."Applebee's"??? I'll have to look up where they got that from. I have never had a good time there. I've gone alone and with friends...the drinks are never right either. I hate Applebee's...all of them. I'm only even reviewing it because it came up on one of my "friends" pages and reminded me how much I despise that place.

This place needs to step up its game, it has fallen off a cliff. There servers are not professional and the bar area is cramp and uncomfortable. While sitting at the bar I noticed how dirty and sticky the whole bar was. The decor is old and dusty. The TV's in the bar area of old and fuzzy. it's time for a face lift. I was forced to go to this place because my niece likes it and they offer a movie ticket deal that works for me but the restaurant feels dirty and old. I admit that i have been to this place more then 50 times (it's been open for a long time and was the only decent place around for a while) but now that Panera Bread, TGI Fridays and now BBQ's we have better options.

We tried taking my nephew here for his bday recently- we were a party of 9 (big family) So we were told the wait time was 30-35 mins which turned into 1+ hours. then to top it off when we finally managed our way through the noisy crowd to be seated they gave us ONE SMALL BOOTH!!!!!! C'mon in whose right mind??? What were they thinking??!! A booth could probably bit 4 people comfortably NOT 9!!!!!! So after being fed up with waiting and them giving us the runaround and excuses we left. And it was just a reminder of why i LOVE the Yankee Stadium applebees much better when eating in the Bronx! IMO Applebees menu has gone way down the hill in the previous years! nothing to drool over!

The food isn't all that bad here. I mean it is a chain restaurant, so you can't expect it to be fancy. I mean if you check the website ahead of time, you can get an idea of what's good on the menu. Their desserts aren't that bad either. It's crowded though. Especially during the weekends. So plan accordingly. They have some nice flat screens if you want to watch some games at the bar. Their drinks are kind of pricey, so be prepared for that. Could people please stop making the waiters and waitresses announce birthdays to the whole restaurant. I mean did anyone see the movie, "Waiting"? Give those poor guys a break will ya!

I am absolutely disgusted with this place. Everytime I've been here ive experienced average drive at best but today was the absolute worst. Walk into the place and no one is at the hostest stand and a manager only shows up about 10 min later when a crowd is starting to down. He doesn't ask who was first just starts grabbing servers and sitting them down causing many people to be skipped. Moving on I am seated by a very sweet girl and I was assuming someone in training. Both very sweet. Grabbed my daughter a highchair and even offered to put her in. We told them our small party of 2 adults and 1 toddler were in a rush and already know what we wanted and stressed we had a bit over an hour left to be in and out. A girl we assumed would be our waitress wanted past us twice without even a word. Mind you she was slow as ever and very unpleasant looking. Finally after 10 min of waiting I stopped the two sweet ladies who seated us and explained again. She apologized and took our orders and drinks were brought to us in 5 min with the lovely trainee helping my daughter open her juice box. Downhill from here. It took an HOUR to get our food. Nothing spectacular was ordered. A grilled cheese, 2 half ceasar salads one without chicken and a half blt. After being told twice our food was coming out and still waiting 15 more minute I told the sweet girl we needef to go put it in a box (our waitress only came by once to say itd be out soon). She apologized as she could tell I was annoyed and my child hungry. When the food comes out both salads have chicken (my friend does not eat meat only fish) and the chicken was overdone and my blt barely had any bacon and ive had this exact meal over by 161 in their applebees and it was great. They took so long we had to take our food to go and we were in such a rush I didn't even check the bill where I was charged for the incorrect salad. In all honestly for that mess some of my meal should've been comped waiting over an hour and 15 min when I told them I was in a rush and the place want even that crowded. Oh and our actual waitress sure nuf bought the bill and I'm sure was expecting a tip....which she did not get. Very disgusted and I think iveb learned my lesson not to return. Just got to bbqs next time or panera where they respect your time and money.

This is one of the worst Applebee I have been to the waiting is not what they tell you and when they do sit you down, God I just should have stay home and cooked for myself .it's like s live time. Wish you the best of luck in you visit.

This place gets 2 stars, not because it's a particularly bad Applebee's (which it isn't), but because it is an Applebee's.
