Bedford Police lurking to catch anyone staying 1 hour and a minute. 30 people in town Sat morning and 3 police - one of those. Not too many places in Bedford to eat if any. Girlfriend went in and after getting parking that looked somewhat safe conversations had already happened so it wasn't clear why Kyle? kept coming back again and again and again to take orders or ask for orders. Hamburger fries and two drinks $70 - ummm. Seriously - asked 18 times if we were OK - no seriously, every 3 minutes, was caught off guard at first, would we like to see the menu, would I like another beer, another wine, something else. $10 for a sraggley side salad, the sort you would russle up at home after a long day at work and needed the guilt to go away that you had to do something. Now, I have no objection to paying $26 for a designer burger. But it's gotta be good - we're talking succulent, sinking your teeth into type of a burger. One you remember. (For example, Cittanuova East Hampton NY ($14 at last count) Kobe beef) A combination of the modest portions, the almost unbelievable return to the table approximate every 3 to 4 minutes through out our entire sojourn, and the overpriced food left one feeling empty and pained. At the bad end of a pure business arrangement. Preferred the Meeting House 3 years ago.

I was here shortly after 234 opened. What the hell happened? Can't dedicate the time or energy to elaborate on all the service and food issues, but suffice it to say the other recent reviewers have it right - bad service; really mediocre food with wacked out prices. So disappointing....

I love this place even better than the old meeting house! They have an extraordinary menu and their creations are rather sublime! Every time i go there i try a new dish and never has it disappointed! The owner seems like a really nice guy as well- down to earth and focused on excellence. I am just so impressed with the dishes, the presentation, the warm atmosphere, the flavorings- the artwork- the plates- the beer selection! My only suggestion would be to hire a few more servers to be able to quickly serve all the guests- because the word is out - the food and presentation is fabulous - which means high demand! We are so lucky to have all these fantastic restaurants in our area- Jean-Georges, Truck, Farmer & the Fish, Bedford Post, North Star- Stone Barns- Bedford 234 is a joy and I am so excited to have them as part of our community!

After having a wonderful Sunday meal here a few weeks ago, I was extremely disappointed in our experience last Saturday. Finding the restaurant no longer takes reservations, I called ahead of time to find out how the seating looked. We were told there was currently no wait and that our best chance of immediate seating was to hurry over, which we did. When we arrived there was no table for four available and we were told by the hostess to take a seat at the then-empty bar to wait. We ordered a round a drinks as the bar filled up. When 20 minutes passed and I noticed others were being seated, I checked with the hostess to find that she'd begun taking party names and we weren't on the list. I was told we'd be moved up to the top of the list. Another 20 minutes passed and I looked at the hostess's list--we still weren't on it. The owner of the restaurant who was in the area chatted with us and we told him the situation and were assured by him we would be seated within minutes. More time passed with no seating so we decided to leave. The bartender then took my friend's credit card for the round of drinks but returned the card without a receipt. A few minutes later the bartender put a bill for drinks on the bar. When told we'd already paid, she denied having gotten the credit card. My friend then gave her the card again, we paid, and left. At this point we had spent over an hour in the restaurant without being seated. While the food may be good the service here appears to be nonexistent. This restaurant has serious problems with organization and management. We certainly won't be returning.

Strange reservation policy. Nine accepted before 8:30. But never mentioned that if you call for a table at 8:15. Instead come on in and sit in a pretty tight bar for 45 minutes waiting for a table while someone with an 8:30 reservation sits down at 8:40. Hey - we could have an 8:30 reservation too and actually been there at 8:30 if the restionist had thought about it . Food was ok. Better than Meeting House but not sure worth waiting that long for a table. And then the restaurant is EMPTY after 9 so they should organize their customer flow a little better. The people on the next stool told us if you want a drink in the bar you need to be your own advocate otherwise you can wait a long long time to be served. But when finally served very nice man at the bar and a good pour.

would like to say we dined here, but we walked out. We called earlier to make a reservation for a Tuesday night dinner but were told that they don't take reservations. Arrived a little after seven and were not greeted at the door...were not greeted at all. In asking how long a wait, we were told about 5-10 minutes. Fifteen minutes later we approached the desk, to ask the best guesstimate for our wait time and were asked, "how many in your party?" There was a table for 12 in this small restaurant having dinner (and they had made a reservation). The decor is so cluttered that when a departing diner grabbed her coat in the entry way where I was standing, she knocked over a potted plant all over my shoes (staff was efficient and kind in cleaning it up). We left and went to The Barn at Bedford Post and had a great meal.

"Great Experience" Started with an unusual LOBSTER KNUCKLE "ESCARGOT" ,Roasted Garlic-Herb Lobster Butter and an excellent OCTOPUs which was a full sized portion. For entrees, I had the Seared tuna over a very good rice cake and greens. My wife had the Swordfish, piled on top of a vegetable ragu which was topped with a rice cake then the swordfish which had friscee on it. Great desserts, we had the brown butter sugar pie which came in a mason jar, unusual and the Lulu's pie which were told was made by the owner's daughter, both excellent.

Okay food (under seasoned and greasy) but Really SLOW service. Waited only 10 minutes for the wine but food took almost an hour to arrive. Told us that we were the next table to be served but that was still another 15 minutes away. Managment really needs to focus on EXECUTION...

When it comes to dining in Bedford options are limited. With the arrival of 234 taking occupancy over the old Meetinghouse Restaurant I was optimistic for a local offering which would deliver fun atmosphere, good food and friendly people. To say I really want to like this place is an understatement. However, my first encounter left me hungry for something more. While the food was good, it wasn't great. Options are somewhat limited but as more and more local restaurants try to be purveyors of local fare I find the art of the food gets in the way of a menu which can accommodate my family's diverse palate. The service was inexperienced in many ways. We were seated at a table that rocked so badly we may as well have experienced dining aboard the titanic as it was sinking. At one point the corner dipped so badly we almost lost our tables contents. I had to go under the table to readjust and stabilize it while the staff was off preparing lifeboats I assume. While comical I couldn't imagine any other patron "stooping so low" to save their meal. The experience wasn't all bad as the food was good. As for the decor, I like it. It isn't all that different from the Meeting House. I will be back after some time and hope to update my review with a more positive perspective.

Went in for a casual dinner Sat night. To our pleasant surprise they had a table available but it would be ready in 15 min so we waited by the bar. The bar area is super small (6 seats). The whole time we were standing by the bar the bartender did not acknowledge our presence and asked for drinks. The rest of the service was just as lackluster. The decor is decent, reminiscent of an old farmhouse, but I think that is the idea. Drinks, once we ordered them at the table, were good. The food for the most part was very tasty but at the same time servers did not seem very knowledgeable. Overall, would meet someone for a drink. Perhaps will order a pizza. Would not go for a planned dinner.

Definitely a huge upgrade over the meetinghouse. I think the food is very very good and the decor is very comfortable and very Bedford. My only complaint is that the service is painfully slow but I think that will improve over time.

I loved the old Meeting House but now that I've eaten here I miss it no more. This restaurant is out of this world. My wife and I ordered many different things our first time there to get a taste of the place. Every dish was a unique take on the plate that was rich with a flavor that only comes from the best ingredients while not feeling too heavy at the end of the meal. The only way you can go wrong here is to not add the avocado fries to your order. 5 stars!

Don't know what happened to this place, which showed tremendous promise upon opening this past spring. Service was abominable, food not as described on menu and specials not as fresh as expected. Maybe it was an off night?

Another Westchester disappointment. They claim farm to table, but the chopped salad tasted like supermarket to table. The pomegranate vinaigrette was not really a dressing but a thick sweet syrup, which did not enhance the limp greens and canned chick peas. The table bread was supermarket Eli's (Zabar's)---I know the taste. A vegetarian onion soup was less a soup than a pile of onions, cheese costing extra, by the way. The swordfish entree, advertised as being Greek, hardly seemed Mediterranean at all. Overcooked, sitting on too-buttery mashed potatoes, with little seasoning. My wife's salmon salad was a little better but nothing stellar. As for the prices, they are over the top. My $11 glass of Argentina Cabernet was half the amount---literally half---of a normal glass of wine ordered anywhere else. The swordfish was $29, not justifying its fairly bland preparation. My picky daughter had a bowl of plain pasta---they charged $16 for this. (Clearly they are not encouraging parents to bring their kids.) This place has replaced The Meetinghouse, which had similar problems.

Recent Saturday dinner was outstanding, food excellent, service respectable. Love the decor of the place, re-done after new management, bar area much roomier now. Decent wine selection, front of house quite friendly. Yes, prices are a bit high but in line with the area and food was really good. Note to mgmt: ice with water and salt spoons with cellars (nice touch!) would be welcome, tiny complaints. We'll be back!

What no Zero stars? Miss the Meetinghouse! Went in for the first time since new owners took over and what a disappointment. Ordered simple burger with fries, medium rare. The burger was well done and the fries were soaked in cold oil. Limp as overcooked pasta. Service was OK but annoying. The owners seem to focus more on the appearance than on food quality. Should have saved some money from the renovation for a better kitchen staff. Will not be back.

Bedford234 brings an eclectic menu and charm to 10506. The much anticipated opening of Bedford's newest restaurant did not disappoint. Comfort food stalwart grilled cheese came prepared with caramelized onions and Stella Vallis, a Hudson Valley gourmet cheese with a cheddary French Alpine taste. The chicken noodle soup will quickly become every Bedfordite's go-to malady reliever. Also a must is the calamari appetizer! The variety of entrees is sure to appeal to the palate of even a finicky eater. Our group tried many. All were attractively presented, amply sized, and came with tasty accompanying sauces -- chimichurri with the steak, a delightful lemon citronette on the pistachio-crusted salmon (another must have dish) and lebneh tzatziki with the lamb kebob. Lastly, save room for dessert. The dessert menu is hand written, and the presentation impressive, with our cake coming out on a glass covered plate. Prices are about average for Bedford and surrounding towns. The soup and grilled cheese were approximately $8, the calamari $14 and the must-have salmon $25. As good as our experience with the food was our sense of community in the restaurant and bar. The atmosphere is inviting and the staff (including the owners) were very attentive and truly seemed to care that the quality of the food and our dining experience was up to expectation. If you live in Bedford you are bound to bump into your neighbors here, and if you are passing by town, Bedford234 offers a true sampling of what our community is all about. Highly recommend.

I recently had dinner on a Friday night with two friends to celebrate a birthday. There were perhaps four filled tables outdoors and 8-10 filled tables indoors when we arrived at 6:45 pm. It was a nice night, so we opted for outdoors. We were served our cocktails promptly and ordered appetizers (a salad and avocado fries) soon thereafter. AN HOUR LATER, the waiter asked if we'd like another drink. We said we'd like our food. Our appetizers had not yet been served. Ten minutes later, he brought the salad. Another 10 minutes later, he brought the avocados. An hour and twenty minutes for 6-7 fried avocado slices? After two full hours, our dinner (a quinoa bowl, a lamb burger, and the salmon) finally arrived. There was no manager on duty, and the owners were not present. We explained to both the hostess and the waiter that we were frustrated. The waiter offered a complimentary beverage which we accepted. There was no explanation of why we had not been brought our food. Meanwhile, a couple who came in after we'd been there for an hour and sat next to us were served their appetizers and dinner before our dinners arrived--they apparently knew the waiter personally. We asked about birthday cake and were advised to have the coconut cake (they were out of several other options). The cake was dry and clearly not fresh. I won't be going back. For these prices, I highly recommend you go to the Inn at Pound Ridge down the road.
