Went for breakfast while in town for a conference. Had a good experience here! The omelet was delicious and the homemade biscuits were AMAZING! The staff was so adorable - they employed the youth in the town. So great to see young kids learning great values and given something productive to do during the summer.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and for the most part it has been pretty consistent. Unfortunately, on my last couple of visits I've tasted a distinct lack of quality. They tout their green chile chicken fried steak, and I love me some chicken fried steak, but the plate I had with eggs and potatoes was awful. There was no taste to the steak, and they didn't have any A1 or steak sauce. Weak. Also wasn't impressed with their Lincoln County biscuits. Tasted like Pillsbury frozen dough. Service was disinterested at best. I don't know if it was because it was Aspenfest weekend and there was a crazy crowd, but the gal just didn't seem like she wanted to be a part of what was going on. I will say that the deck is still awesome. In fact, it's probably the best part of this place. If you must eat here, make sure you sit on the deck.

I have had breakfast in a couple dozen countries all over the world and of course all over the United States but I must say it can't get better than here! If you're within 50 miles of Riudoso you should make a special trip just to have their breakfast ... But Breakfast is simple meal you say? Most people screw it up, but here everything is perfect

People consider this an institution in Ruidoso, so of course we had to try it when we visited the area recently. The ambiance is rustic, with stuffed animal heads and a true log cabin-y feel. Kind of fun and relaxed. We went on a weekday, off hours, so it was relatively quiet. We ran into some folks who were staying at the same place as us, so we had them join us. They had become Log Cabin "regulars," and loved things like the pancakes and the sausage. I had eggs and the daily special, these unique carrot cake pancakes. They were delightful, although the waitress was a little sloppy arriving with stacked plates, as the cream cheese topping on the pancakes glued itself to the other plate. Service was a bit slow considering the low volume customers at that time of day, but the food quality was excellent. Gary and I enjoyed ourselves, and our new friends loved their meals as well!

rather homestyle cooking and a good experience. Wife had blackberry waffle and I had green chile cheese omelet . The orange juice seemed like it was out of one of those concentrate dispensers but they didn't charge that much. They were rather busy and it seemed like it was the millennials running the place. None of the staff looked over 30. They did a good job and the food was tasty and brought in an timely fashion.

Reading previous reviews, it looks like this place is known for breakfast. I happened upon it for lunch though so the review is about my lunch esperience. First the good things. I really like the large open dinning room with mountain cabin decore. I didn't realize until after I was seated that I had arrived near closing. A lot of restaurant staffs can be noticably annoyed by patrons who arrive at the last minute but all I got was friendly service from the host to the waitress to the guy handing my bill at the register so kudos to the Log Cabin staff. I ordered the cheesburger with onion rings. The patty itself was hand formed (a plus in my book) but had a chemically taste to it. I get the same taste when I grill burgers at home when the grease and fat on the burger catches fire. Given the patty is supposed to be the star of the show, that's very dissapointing. The rest of the burger was well prepared though with a butter toasted sesame bun and fresh lettuce, onions, and tomato. Onion rings were good but not memorable. My diet coke was served in a bottle implying they don't have a soda fountain and customary free refills most resaurants have. A pet peeve of mine. Would not take my American Express card which is a killer deal for me when traveling on business. I would have given this restaurant another chance at breakfast but not if they won't take my AMEX.

Worst service ever!!! Manager decided start waiting tables and manage the restaurant at the same time. She then proceeded to take big tables (+6 adults) so as to to get bigger tips. Other servers couldn't assist and so Lauren the bus girl had to step in for refills while SUPER Waitress struggled to get orders correct. Wait time to be seated was 40 min and once seated 15 min to get drink order. Manager/waitress delivered the drinks wrong, missing items on food, and cold pancakes. The manager should be managing the place not taking big tables away from other waiters. She should be fired!!!! By the way, this used to be one of our favorite restaurants. And even the last time we were here, the chef put chopped raw red opinions in our omelets. The ONLY bright stop of the dining experience was our busgirl Lauren (we left her out part of a $14 tip.). She is not even wait staff but she made the expense worth it. We will not be coming back.

Every time I'm in ruidoso it never fails. I am at this restaurant for breakfast. Now I have not tried their lunch or dinner but their breakfast is what I go for. Nice atmosphere, good service, and food is plenty and filling. Coffee is great! Definitely recommend the breakfast...

What happened to this place? Service is bad and food is over priced...first time I have ever had burnt pancakes lol it was a family tradition to stop here on our camping trips but I don't know what happened. I recall this place being extremely busy and still receive excellent service and great food. Restaurant wasn't full but still worst experience ever, can't get over burnt pancakes lol. Go to Denny's instead and avoid this place. Maybe they will improve.

Excellent breakfast location! The pancakes were great along with the French toast, eggs, bacon and sausage. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. We will def add this place as a stop when visiting Ruidoso.

The best choice for breakfast in Ruidoso. You better go early...there is always a line but it is worth waiting for. The pancakes are the best.

Great Breakfast place. Yes, we Texans tend to frequent this place, good food, a bit pricey for the area (but have you been to the Texas Club in Ruidoso??) Sometimes they close on Tuesdays and don't advertise that or post it. Not a smart business practice.

Food was so-so, service was horrible. Got there around 10 a.m. on a weekday, place was pretty busy but the waitress was preoccupied with something else. Didn't see much of her. Won't go back. IHOP blows the doors off this place!

Crowded, busy, noisy and a long wait just for coffee. Food was OK. Not sure what all the hype is about.

I think this place has the best breakfast I have ever had in a restaurant. I've always gone with a group, so getting seated has taken a bit (it's busy, always). I wish I did not live three hours away from it! I go to Ruidoso a few times a year and this is where I stop. The servers are sweet, though it can take a while for large orders like ours- and considering the place is completely packed in the morning. You will have to wait for a seat. It's worth it. You will leave full and happy. Great coffee. The omelettes are gigantic. I think I can get through about 1/4 of them. You can pick your sides, but I go with sliced tomatoes (nice and fresh) and toast. Otherwise, I would not be able to get through an 1/8 of the food. Their Sun Dried Tomato omelette will always be in my mind as delicious. I would happily drive three hours for it again. The Ham and Cheese is also great. The chicken fried steak is pretty yummy. It's cooked well and the gravy is nicely peppery (as it should be). Good burritos. The hash browns are great. The pancakes are fluffy. The portions are huge and low priced. The art on the walls is local and for sale. The atmosphere is homey. This place is just plain good.

We have eaten at this place in the past and loved the food. We decided to go back and had the WORST experience! First off let me start by saying we had a group of 14 and got seated 9 at one table and the other 6 at another table across the room. We went to have breakfast as a family and expected to be seated together. Second the table of 6 waited almost 20 minutes before they got asked for there drink order. Our waitress was good until the end. We understand giving a tip, but please don't recommend what you think you deserve, especially if the service wasn't great. After we paid out, the waitress decides to complain to another waitress infront of our group of 6 and makes the comment "THOSE MEXICANS DIDN'T TIP". That was very unprofessional and very RUDE! Then the owner decides to get loud with us when I went to confront them on her racial remark. We will never go back and I will make sure to spread the word on how rude and unprofessional they are.

YES I'm from Texas! We Texans know food and big portions!!! The food is great, loved the peanut butter banana stuffed French toast!!Its hard to find a good restaurant in Ruidoso . biscuits & gravy was great too ! We will be back ...be prepared to wait 30. Minutes or more to be seated but totally worth it !

Incredible breakfasts! The best I have had! I will return the next time I am in Ruidoso, which should be soon.

This place was so good we went there twice during our week visit to Ruidoso. The food was exactly what you would expect a good breakfast place should have. The service was great though they were very crowded. Be prepared to wait up to an hour on the weekends.

I unfortunately come to this restaurant every year. My husband like big breakfasts. They breakfasts are arent great, over cooked and expensive. The waitresses don't care about you, act as if they are going you a favor by waiting on you. Today prime example...my tummy was acting up yesterday, so today I just wanted oatmeal. 6.00 fit oatmeal and 75 cents for one piece of toast I asked for NO butter on. Toast came with lots of butter, oatmeal came out Ice cold and watery. Disgusting. No one came to check so my hubby had to walk my oats up to the front to tell the waitress, who immediately slapped it in the microwave. And then proceeded to ignore us...I finally had to get up and go to the microwave and get it out myself! Now that it was warm, it was even more watery..I put the tiny amount of brown sugar in it and it turned a slimy soupy disgusting bowl of crap. How do you screw up oatmeal!? I put it away from me..waitress said, you don't like this..I'm no. she picks it up and walk off. Never see a manager, no one cared. I'm pissed now....I don't care if hubby wants a 3000 calorie breakfast, I personally will never set foot here again. Rude people...many better breakfasts in town..hell, Dennys is a better value! Edited to say this is my second review and its not as good as once was. They think you should be honored they let you in or something. Staff always seems a little annoyed at having a customer to wait on.

Our waitress was crabby, the food was cold, and we were waiting way too long for our food to come. To sum it all up, I was underwhelmed.

  • Tamara C.

Good breakfast! We had the special sun dried tomato omelette and the green-chili omelette. Both were very good and large portions. The biscuits were light and fluffy and the service was great although the place was not crowded. Our bill was $25 bucks for two adults, so a little on the high side for breakfast but we didn't have to eat lunch because we were so full.

    (3)
  • Eva C.

The food was good, but I can only give two stars for service. Waitress was frazzled, and two out of four orders were wrong. Our bill for two adults and two young kids (ages 3 and 4) was $60. My only advice is to go when it's not busy. If service was better I would have given more stars. And if the bill was less, too.

Great breakfast in Ruidoso. Not many places open Sunday for breakfast/ brunch out there. Kid friendly. Good food

LOTS OF POSITIVES: Our late morning Sunday breakfast was hot & delicious. Lots of variety on the menu that I would love to go back again to try! A long wait but worth it. We had a lovely waitress assist us, and she did a great job. Prices are fair for a tourist area. Nice log cabin décor and interesting art & animal heads on the walls. ONE BIG NEGATIVE: All at our table commented about the distracting, unappetizing big, black, rolling dish cart right kept just behind the hostess greeting desk and in front of the entrance to the kitchen. Throughout our "dining experience" waitresses were coming & going, scraping and banging the food out of plates, throwing silverware into the soapy water, etc, and even rolled it thru the dining area to a larger table to clean it off just as the customers left. At least put the cart behind a petition or better yet, back into the kitchen where it belongs!

Great place to eat when you are wanting a loaded diner-type breakfast on the weekend, especially after a round of 18 at The Links at Sierra Blanca. It is heart attack express food but it is good.

Perfect start to the day. I look forward to eating here when I visit. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, oj and coffee in a cool lodgy atmosphere. If I had a place like this back home, I would feel like I'm on vacation everyday. Power up here and hit the slopes! My favorite thing is that they give you melted butter to pour on your pancakes.

I have eaten breakfast at Log Cabin about 5 or 6 times. ALWAYS HOT AND DELICIOUS. Perfectly cooked and the servers are amazing - a show in itself. You'll love it. Ask for crisp bacon and that's what you get. Ask for eggs over easy and, there they are, nice little runny yellows under a thin white cover. Perfect. Yummmm.

I've been to the Log Cabin, in Ruidoso, on many a Sunday morning, over the last couple of years. My husband makes sure that I'm up by the crack of dawn to go there with him. So I can only speak for the breakfast menu, and overall, it's good food. We usually order something traditional, like an omelet, pancakes, or huevos rancheros. The menu is substantial. Lots of combination plates, and the serving sizes are ample. The atmosphere is appropriate for the name "Log Cabin". There is Southwestern decor with paintings, art, and very large trophy Elk mounts on the log walls. If it's a busy weekend in Ruidoso, you may want to go early AM or late morning as there may be a wait, and a crowded parking lot. It is a popular place, especially with tourist ( lots of Double T caps - from Lubbock ) Prices are mid range, and reasonable. Service is always fast and friendly.

This place is supposedly known for breakfast. I was disappointed. Gravy was thin and may have been packaged. Mashed potatoes were watery and came from a mix. The eggs were badly under-cooked. The chicken fried steak would have been at home in a school cafeteria. I had to resort to the sacrilege of putting ketchup on my "steak."

Pretty good breakfast.... The veggie omelette was good, fresh with lots of veggies and the eggs Benedict were very good. Biscuits are great...

I have to say that this place has the BEST breakfast I have EVER had, order the #21 - it is unique and tasty!

We went here for lunch with family, and it was great -- good food, friendly service. Kid friendly too. We loved it so much that we went back for breakfast the next day, and we were welcomed back like old friends. Not open for dinner, and closed Tuesdays.

  • Tai H.

The food was excellent! Best breakfast I have had in a long time. The only drawback I had was that the waitresses did not use trays and stacked the food on top of each other (our food was under another tables food plates...literally) I really didn't like this, plus I got torn up flattened pancakes... but they were still delicious!

We can to Ruisodo for our Honeymoon. Once we discovered the Log Cabin.... WHOAAA.. I think we ate theire more and fell in love more. The food was AWESOME. we were both alittle sad to return home to texas because man oh man those bisquits and grazy...you can't get them anywhere else... :) THank you Log Cabin for making our honeymoon so memorable and yummy :)

Very busy, noisy, good service. Eggs Benedict and hash browns were very good, coffee was awesome, omelet was burnt. We were disappointed after reading so many great reviews. Overall, it was okay, but not enough for us to go back....

Great breakfast. Had an omelette with spinach, ham, and cheese with hollandaise sauce.

I thought the food and service were good here, nice decor, and friendly staff. It did seem to have a few Texans here -- but that's fine -- I felt right at home (Dallas, TX). ;)

My husband & I ate here for breakfast while on vacation! I had the french toast and my husband had eggs and bacon! The french toast was too die for and i would recommend this dish!! I loved them, it was not the average french toast plate! So I would definately return to this place!

If you had breakfast at the Cornerstone Bakery, you'd never rate this a 4 star. It's a nice solid 3, no surprises, nothing fancy. We had pancakes, eggs sausage, biscuits and gravy all ok,coffee was old and burnt. I rate breakfast joints by the coffee, if they can't get that right, the rest usually follows suit. It's more of a nostalgic thing for me because I summered here as a kid. Try it once for old times sake, then go to the Cornerstone.

Great breakfast place in ruidoso. Only downside is that it is crowded. Texans love it here so you have to navigate the cowboy hats and shiny rhinestone belts. All the breakfast food is good, especially the biscuits and gravy. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs with b&g and it was like 3 plates of food so you better be hungry if you get it. One of the added bonuses are the elk heads on the wall. My friend shot one of them.

    Best breakfast ever!

The restaurant is an actual log cabin, very quaint and cozy feeling. We ordered the pumpkin pancakes, they actually came with pecans and whipped cream but it looked so delish we dived in forgetting to take a nice pic. So our friends joined us later and we took a pic of theirs, w/o the pecans and whipped cream. They were fantastic! Nice and soft on inside but crispy edges. Delicate pumpkin flavor and with the pecans and whipped cream we didn't really need syrup! Bacon was nice and crispy too. Definitely worth a wait if there is one.

Excellent service, great selection for breakfast or lunch. I had the Spanish omelette, hashbrowns, and a Bisquit with gravy. By far and away the best place to have breakfast in Ruidoso! Plenty of tables, don't let the parking lot fool you. Lots of daily specials that change often, opens at 8 closes at 1:45 daily.

I had a family reunion last week...so I needed a breakfast place for a dozen people. We went to the Log Cabin one morning. Although there was a 30 minute wait...the service and food was worth it. Everyone agreed the eggs, bacon, biscuits, and pancakes were excellent. Prices were good and portions were huge. Go to the Log Cabin and enjoy!

We ate here on a very cold morning as we were leaving town. The atmosphere is very comforting. The food is comforting as well. It's a no frills place - - very family friendly! We enjoyed our meal and it was priced appropriately.
