Came here on a Saturday night during the summer. We were literally the only two people here. I thought it was a bad sign, but it wasn't. The food was amazing. We ordered queso and it was so unique. It was pulled beef with melted cheese on top. So good. I had the fajitas and they were good. I really like this place. Also, they have a pretty decent beer selection for a Mexican food restaurant.

If you really want to know how good a place is, travel with three teenagers. And although I'm perfectly confident in my own ability to identify good eats, I did just that at La Sierra. Initial thoughts after arriving in the parking lot: Are the closed? Is this place godawful? There isn't a whole lot going on out here. Am I seriously about to talk in a British accent in a Mexican restaurant (a game the girls came up with)? In we went and we were greeted by a smell of damp, aged wood that I grew very fond of during my life in Wisconsin. A hostess was stationed at the front and led us to the back sun room. La Sierra is actually quite large, but it was completely empty with the exception of two other patrons that were finishing up their meals (and it was only 8 PM). The menu is quite extensive and covers just about every single Mexican dish you could possibly imagine (if you know me, you know how I feel about menus longer than a page or two). That being said everything we ordered was fair. Nothing extraordinary, but a decent meal that I had no complaints about. The chips and salsa were ehhh depending on how you feel about extremely tomato-y tasting salsas (which I am actually okay with). One-third of the teenagers and I devoured the chips so that says something...depending on how you read that. Everyone at the table got something smothered in cheese (mostly enchiladas) and while no one raved about them, everyone seemed to finish them rather quickly. I went with the Tampiqueña and even though my plate may have been slightly pricier than everyone else's, I definitely felt like I was getting more bang for my buck. The starter soup was a tomato based soup with noodles that neither I nor the waitress was aware of its name. It was simply okay. My dish came out with a thin steak, rice, beans, green onions, guac, a roasted jalapeño, a enchilada, and a taco. Wow! This dish was super filling. Again, nothing out of this world, but it hit the spot and left me filled. And who passes on dessert? Not this girl. Fried ice cream it is! The ice cream ended up being both pleasantly surprising and rather disappointing. It was huge, three scoops, but was just covered in corn flakes. And they weren't really crushed. And they weren't really covering the whole thing. And they didn't really add much flavor. Can your girl get some cinnamon? Honey? Caramel? Something? Is it phenomenal eats? No. But would I come again? Yes. The service was friendly enough, the food was good, and it has a beautiful atmosphere.

I'm not much into Mexican food but I just tried. Place is rather pricey but the seafood or shrimp soup worth trying.

Ate there last nite. AWFUL!! We all were ready to order drinks....no liquor license! Server was very friendly but Taco Bell would have been MUCH better! Casa Blanca and Penas are much much better! Don't waste your time here. Prices were also very high!

Food is fine but service is so slow. Our server did not speak English and it made ordering difficult. If you order sangeria beware they rimmed our glasses with salt.

Ugh! There were only two other families in the place, and the service was horrible. The food was tasteless and the frozen margaritas were way watered down. Save your money and go to a place with more than three cars in the parking lot, no matter how nice the place looks.

In town for a day came here with family. The place was big, lots of room. The staff was real nice very friendly. I'm not a fan of mexican food. I'm really picky about it. This place has a really extensive menu, tons of choices. The chips are made fresh and great. I had the chile rellenos and enchiladas. I liked them but the sauce lacked spice...had no kick. Hated the beans. Basically the food was good but nothing amazing. Jon had shrimp enchiladas...weird combination. He liked them says the shrimp was good quality but also lacked spice. I would go again it wasn't bad just needs more flavor.

Wow! This was really good. Chips were fresh, crisp and light. Salsa was killer, lots of onions, which I really like, with the tomatoes and such - just hot enough. A great beer selection - not just Mexican beer, some great ales and a couple of imports. I was told the margarita was great and was not offered a sip - she wanted it all to herself. The food was excellent. We had a combination dinner and a taco salad. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. Presentation was beyond my expectation with carved radishes etc. Very nice. Service was excellent but the place was pretty empty so I don't know how it gets when everybody shows up. We ate great, had a drink and walked out spending $33 which included a 20% tip. Dang hard to beat.

This restaurant was excellent! I had been to it twice and thought the meal was so good that I would write a review for it. I have had the Carne Asade and it was super now I had the best breakfast since moved to New Mexico. The Chilaquilas with bacon, eggs over easy and a side of tortillas is the BEST!!! Please order the red Chiliaquilas when asked. The service was great and the atmosphere was family friendly. The place opens at 10am. My husband had the carnitas tacos and thought they were as good as in San Diego. Enjoy your meal.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
