It was my first time having Koring food and trust me, I will be back. The bibimbap was super tasty and whatever that spicy sauce in the ketchup bottle is? I want to marry it. I could eat it on everything. The owners are also insanely nice. The place might not look great, but the service makes up for it.

Excited to learn a new Korean restaurant was opening in Lincoln. Although Yang's Cafe & Panda Garden both serve Korean dishes in addition to Chinese, I've been hoping for a place that would offer even more variety of Korean main dishes and banchan (side dishes). Our visit was during Yam's first week, and we appreciated fast, friendly sevice. Our meals came with side of rice and 5 or 6 side dishes, which were delicious. There was a mix-up on one of our orders, but staff quickly corrected it. We enjoyed the dolsot bibimbap, beef bulgogi, japchae noodles, and kalbi. I can't say that the food was better than that served at the other restaurants mentioned above, but we'll definitely go back. I wish they would add some other items to their menu, such as pajeon and seafood items.

BEST KOREAN EVER. One, SERVICE IS GREAT. The people there are so kind and informative. They will answer any questions you have and are fun to talk to. It also helps that their English is quite understandable. The owners are so genuine and I'm so happy for them. Two, the food is amazing. The bone soup isn't really for me, but everything else is great! I love the display of the food and my boyfriend loves how hot the stone bowls are. Bulgogi beef is also the number one choice for us! We always leave so satisfied and not overly full. Their food doesn't make us feel like we just gained a million pounds, it's great. Three, price is great! I'd say the most expensive item is 15 dollars, so if you're on a budget, but am craving something different from your usual burger, it's a great choice! Best Korean in town :) -yummy food -amazing service -clean -great price

The bibimbap is amazing!!! I haven't had kimchi in years, and theirs is delicious. We'll definitely be going back a LOT.

This restaurant is obviously overrated. I am glad to see a new Korean restaurant opening in town since the closure of Yang's Cafe. So, I tried once and would never want to go back again. The only good thing is the service. So, one star earned. The rest are all terrible. Poor food choices. Small portion, especially the soup. Below average food taste. And tasteless side dishes.

Still excellent! The dol sot bibimbop is the best in Lincoln. Very reasonable prices!

In Rome, Drink Soju! This is only place to have korean food in lincoln. The service , food and price were good. Whenever I miss my hometown I would come. They need korean music not country music tho.

We told the waitress it was our first Korean experience, she explained the different dishes which was super helpful. Fresh sides including in-house prepared kimchi, as well as seaweed and julienned radishes and julienned potatoes were available to mix into each of our choice of meals. My favorite dish was the bibimbap served in the hot clay pot. I loved the crispy rice on the bottom. The beef bulgogi was sweet and tender. I would go there again in a heartbeat.

I love Korean food and was very excited to try Yamis. Their menu has about 6 thing on it and when 2 of them disappoint, I don't quite know what to think. On one hand yelp gave it amazing reviews, but the food made hubby throw up about 10 minutes after we walked out. I love beef bulgogi but theirs was bland, too chewy, and fatty. Their was no flavor and no sauce to it. I couldn't finish it. Their bone soup was also fairly bland and unpalatable. They didn't have jjampong, one of my favorite foods in the world. I might come back reluctantly to try their bibimbap, but it might be a while. They were exceptionally friendly and fast to their credit and the atmosphere is decent. But you don't get a hooker for the conversation and you don't go to a restaurant for the friendliness. Unforgivable for me was the tastelessness of their sides, it can't be difficult to pick out good kimchi or picked radish. Again they were really friendly and yelp seems to be raving about them, so I'm hoping they were having an off day and I can come back and give them a better review.

Excellent food, excellent service. They've just opened so we'll see what changes, but having just been in Korea, I thought the absence of kimbap, jeon, makolli, & even a table or two for traditional Korean BBQ (cooked at the table) was disappointing. If you're looking for authentic Korean food (including some dynamite sides) in Lincoln Nebraska, this is a great place to get it.

I ordered Bibimbap for the first time here and loved it. It was my first time having Korean food, but it definitely wont be my last.

The customer service was excellent, the food... Lets just say they get the one star for the service only. I have had Korean food but this was pitiful, really really really pitiful. I wanted to cry after I paid for food, it was bland and greasy. But the lady was very nice.

Had a very enjoyable meal here this evening. Prompt service, excellent Korean food. Started with fried pork dumplings, served piping hot and delicious with a side of soy sauce. Pairs nicely with Asahi beer. Ordered bibimbap and bulgogi entrees. Both excellent, but bibimbap is far more interesting, especially when magic hot sauce is added (sweet and spicy). Half a dozen side dishes come with, including homemade kimchi. Must return to try tofu soup.

I thought the food was great! My dad and I went and got the pork bulgogi and the bibimbap. The pork is like a marinated and stir fried pork which was great and the bibimbap was tasty too. It is a bowl of rice (I got it in the hot stone bowl) with marinated veggies (maybe they are lightly salted) and meat on top with an egg... Then you stir it all up with some spicy red sauce (use as much as you'd like, it comes on the side)...I love Korean food and it was a tasty treat.

This was a fantastic meal with impeccable service. The owner greeted us at the door and then went over the full menu describing each dish in detail. He even allowed us to try a few things before ordering. We decided on 4 different dishes and we would all share. Our favorites were the pork bulgogi Japchae. Everything we had was quite good though. If you like Asian cuisine and would like to try some new authentic fare, I would definitely recommend this place. Next time I'm back in Lincoln, I will be sure to stop back.

The owner went out of his way to talk with us, describe the meal and sides and suggest the best meal, which was delicious. Yami may be the most traditional, authentic korean food in lincoln as to my knowledge. Definetely deserves a shot if you are looking for something more complex than the usual orange chicken.

This nice place offers very good, Korean basics at reasonable prices. The short-ribs (served with scissors!) are terrific and the Bibimbop is some of the best I've had (try to dolstat version). Service is excellent.

We went for dinner tonight with our daughter, and had the Dolsot Bibimbap, the Bulgogi and the kid's Japchae. The food was excellent - certainly the best Korean food in Lincoln, hands down. The Bulgogi was perfectly seasoned and high quality meat. The Bulgogi that we have had in Lincoln sometimes is a bit tough or overcooked or grisly - this was great meat, perfectly cooked, served sizzlingly hot on a cast iron skillet. The dolsot bibimbap was great - lots of veggies (no skimping on the shiitake mushrooms) and the crust was perfect on the rice. The bulgogi came with sticky rice, and the whole meal came with lots of delicious sides, including kimchi. The child's sized Japchae was more than enough for an adult - our daughter went crazy over the rice. The only thing we didn't want more of immediately was the miso soup. It was fine, but the other food was better. The food was fantastic. Better than the food was the service. We were the only people when we arrived around 5:30, but the place slowly filled up. The owners were attentive and friendly. We'll go back just to talk with them a little more. Really, the whole experience was a 5 star experience. We have it as a 4 star because of the somewhat limited menu. There isn't really any option for vegetarians, and the drink options are limited. But they do take credit cards and there was ample seating. We will be back, and often.

Wow. This place is absolutely amazing! Staff was super friendly and the food was awesome. I've never had Korean food before, but every thing I taste was fresh and had great flavor. This is definitely a a hidden gem in lincoln. I tried the pork and steak dish and would highly recommend them.

Two co-workers and I went for lunch about a week after it opened. We had the beef bulgogi, pork bulgogi, and the miso soup. All were very good. And the free appetizers that come just before your meal were also tasty. I particularly liked the potatoes. Slightly pricey for lunch, but definitely worth it.

Bulgogi means "fire meat," and Yami knows how to do it right. You can get bulgogi made with beef, chicken, or pork. I highly recommend the pork version- very lean, but also very tender and flavorful. Great service and lots of food for the price.

I've been wanting to try Yami for quite some time. It's right down the street from my office and it was my first sampling of Korean Cuisine. That being said, I can only vouch for the food based on my taste buds and it was pretty good. I ordered Beef bulgogi at the recommendation of many other Yelpers and it didn't disappoint. The complimentary side dishes were also a treat. I didn't care for all of them but I especially liked the cucumber dish. I wish there would have been more beef to the dish because I didn't fill up on the sides. It also comes with a dish of rice, which was nice. I'd like to return and try more items, as well as try other Korean foods to compare, but I gave this place an extra star for the unique experience and the outstanding customer service. Parking is also plenty. The environment was fun and casual, not too loud. It was pretty warm in there, but that would be my only complaint (oh and they did play the same song/band over and over again!).

Excellent dolsot bibimbap! best I have had in town. They do have a limited menu but that's ok because they choose to do what they do well. I love the side dishes that come with every meal, it's really fun to try different taste and flavors. The owners are really sweet. I hope this place last for a very very long time. It's a great gem in our neighborhood. Eating fast food and American food can get old, so it's really nice having this place so convenient. The difference between dolsot bibimbap and regular bibimbap is dolsot comes In a hot stone bowl and you scrape the crispy rice off the sides and keep mixing it while eating and bonus your food stays piping hot through your entire meal. Make sure to use the sauce, I would love to find out the name of it and have it as a staple at home. It's kind of like a spicy BBQ sauce with extra spices you have probably never had before, there's no such thing as too much of this sauce!!

The service from the man taking the orders wasn't the friendliest, but the woman who came out to deliver the food and explain her dishes was wonderful. That plus the great flavors, we will be back! Really good, give it a try!

Once I found out there was a new Korean restaurant in town I had to stop in. I had the beef bulgogi and my son had the chicken teriyaki. It was his first experience with Korean. Overall we were pleased with the taste and presentation. Prices were reasonable and they were generous with the sides. Our server was exceptional, friendly, and attentive. My only complaint was the menu was a little short on options. We plan on coming back soon. Had to update my review. I have been here 6 times now and have received the same outstanding quality food every time, regardless of what I chose off the menu. The owner is amazing and has taken the time, EVERY TIME, to stop by the table and offer comments and suggestions. My new favorite spot, whenever I am in the 70th & Van Dorn area!

Beef bougouji was so good. Fun and endless side dishes to accompany it! Great date option. Reasonably priced :)

In an effort to try a new restaurant that isn't otherwise in our regular dining-out rotation, we discovered Yami on Yelp. We love Asian food, so we gave it a try. We had the beef bulgogi and the Japchae. Our food was delivered to our table surprisingly promptly. We especially liked the bulgogi, though we thought it to be quite overpriced based on portion size and overall dining experience. We ate here on a weekend evening around 6:30p which would seem to be approaching a restaurant's prime time. We were one of two parties there. The restaurant felt like a sauna. Not sure if they had the heat on or what, but it was uncomfortably warm. Also, the music over the central speakers was almost unnoticeably quiet. This made it a bit awkward to even have a normal conversation, since it was just us and another couple a few tables away. We could hear everything they were saying, and the same probably held true for them about us. Our server was attentive, but not super personable. He got us what we needed when we needed it, and it was fine. However, since there was only one other party there, apparently he didn't have much to do. He spent most of the time leaning on the counter, watching us, which was a bit weird. While I would appreciate his attentiveness had we needed anything, it made it a bit uncomfortable when we didn't. Again, I close by saying the food was delicious (albeit overpriced). I wouldn't completely rule this place out, but I will not likely be suggesting it to anyone. My best rating would be 2.5 stars, but since I am forced to pick between "Meh, I've experienced better" and "A-OK" I must go with the former.

Slight pricey for the food and service. There were not many options on the menu. The sides are not as good as those offered in other Korean restaurant.

This one was very hard to find, I got it from word of mouth. I loved the hot bi bim bap. The people were nice and the service was good. Overall, it was a great meal at a good price.
