Best pulled pork I've had in a long, long time. The wings are amazing too. The meat is so tender that it falls right off the bone!

I wish I could give half a star. Nothing impressive about this place at all. The kid working was super unfriendly and unhelpful. The food was not good I could have made better bbq at home, way too much sauce and no real smoke flavor. I had the pulled pork nachos, not impressed the chips tasted old and it was swimming in sauce, if you have to cover your food with that much sauce you may be doing something wrong.

We enjoy coming here every now and then and I consider it to probably be my favorite barbecue here in Lincoln. The gentleman who owns the place is really friendly. There isn't much seating at the place and it's somewhat cramped if there are others ordering while you're there, but I usually take it home to go anyway. The pulled pork is my favorite, and the wings are also really good. The cornbread is a little more moist and sweeter/denser than the cornbread I usually eat with my barbecue dinners, but I love it as a dessert! Restaurants.com or whatever the site is usually has a deal running for this place which is pretty good and saves you at least a couple of dollars, so buy one of those and go try it.

The server was rude and could not wait for us to leave. There is no extra sauce, and when we asked she refused. Potato salad was good the beans had little smokees in them, so they were not great. Never going back brisket was the worst I've had. Neither me or my lady are more than one bite of the brisket.

Had the pulled pork sandwich Tennessee style with spicy sauce and potato salad on the side. It was very good, the sauce was not too spicy, just a little heat and on the sweeter side, though not cloyingly so. No frills, great prices...definitely a good, very small BBQ joint! Recommend!

I have had tons of BBQ over the years. All I am saying is that this is as good if not better than the best from the big BBQ areas of the US.

Doesn't look like much from the outside or inside for that matter, but it's great BBQ served by an owner who's just the right amount of friendly and helpfulness. Our pulled pork and brisket sandwiches came out in foil wrap on soft buns. Great flavor! The cornbread was almost like cake it was so moist. The parking lot next to them isn't technically for them, but apparently the owners don't mind.

Dead smokey flesh. If this is what you desire you should eat here. Brisket was a 10/10 + wings and other tasty things

The best BBQ ive ever had. THE END All I have to say is try the smoked wings and grab a bbq sandwich. The flavor all of these items were perfect. The owner knows what hes doing when it comes to BBQ. Ill be back shortly!!!!! I will tell everyone I know to come here when Nebraska football starts again. The owner is super nice and answered all my questions I had about his BBQ Thanks!!!

Yelp had this at 4.5 stars? Ribs tasted like primarily cooked by boiling, a hint of smoke and covered with a thick coating of BBQ sauce...2 stars is generous. Sorry

Was in town for work and passed this place a couple time. Figured I would give it a try and oh boy was I glad I did. Most of the time when you read fall off the bone it doesn't literally fall off the bone but the first bite of a wing the bones just fell out and all I was left with was tender delicious chicken. Great place to eat and would recommend it to anyone looking for real BBQ.

Best chicken wings and brisket in Lincoln. Small venue, but great for lunch, the chicken wings fall off the bone. A whole lot of food for very little cost and great quality. The corn bread is amazing! I have also ordered 100 wings to go for a party and they were amazing!!!!

Most of the other reviews are right on target for this restaurant. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was somewhat lacking, but overall a great experience and I would definitely go back the next time I am in Lincoln. Also, the guy that took our order was very friendly and helpful.

Just went back here tonight, and once again I came away extremely satisfied. I got the Little Pig pulled pork sandwich, which ain't all that little at 5 oz with a 1/4lb of bacon and cheese. It came with a side and a piece of corn bread for $7.99, which I thought was really good, plus 2 bucks extra for a drink. Did I mention they make some of the best cornbread I've ever had in my life? Cuz they do. The only thing is this place is a tiny little hut with like three tables, so seating is extremely limited, but they do offer food to go. The dude who runs it is pretty friendly, and he cooks up some mean BBQ, so go check this place out.

The other reviews are right; this place isn't much inside or out. But the food is outstanding. My son had wings and raved about them. I had a brisket sandwich that came with bacon too; why more places don't add bacon to a brisket sandwich, I'll never know. It was outstanding! The sauces were excellent and I enjoyed the baked beans with pork as well. The only downside to our visit was that an employee's child was running around the place, yelling quite a bit. I understand that it's a family environment, but with a place that small, kids should probably not be running around. A small complaint, and we would certainly go back, but would probably get the food to go next time.

Great food. Fast service. My husband and I took home (to Baltimore) several pounds kf meat for a family party.

They are a small BBQ joint near downtown Lincoln. The food is amazing, I really love the naked wings! The ribs are really good also! The reason this review is not a 5-star rating is because I ordered ahead, and got there at the time they told me to, but still had to wait 15 minutes for my order. I would definitely recommend it for BBQ though, it's delicious!

Loved this place! Small location, plastic chairs/table, maybe 4 tables inside, but who cares! The food was smoked outside, and everything tasted amazing. We tried all the sauces with brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. All were very tasty and so tender! We also tried the beans and cornbread. The guys behind the counter were over the top nice and provided great service. I would definitely go back!

A more accurate star count would be 4.5 our of 5. Little did I know that I would find tasty and incredible bbq outside of the south! Well, Lincoln, you have a winner! I tried the wings (smoked, not fried) with some thai chili sauce (not spicy, but tasty at least!). The wings are delicious. They are quite possibly the best thing here. I came through here twice, so I tried the pulled pork and the brisket. Normally I'm more of a brisket fan, but their pulled pork was better to me. Their brisket wasn't awful, it was good, but I've had better brisket. The pulled pork was very good. The sides? On spot! I loved the baked beans, and the cornbread was sweet enough to feel like you were eating a cake for dessert! Delicious. The owner here is nothing short of polite and patient and has an awesome attitude. Although it may not look like it has all the "bells & whistles" from the outside, they leave it up to their food to bring on the wow factor. And yes, it definitely does.

Good wings and barbecue. It's a nice little place with good service. Not to mention the best cornbread I've ever had. If you like cornbread you need to try it!

Being a BBQ snob, I am very impressed with this restaurant ! Hot wings had an excellent spicy flavor. The cornbread is soft and melts in your mouth. The pulled pork has a nice-not-to-sweet BBQ flavor. The owner was very friendly and helped me make my menu decisions based on what I was wanting.

Low profile yet being one of the best BBQ in town. Rib and wings are must-tries. Open almost every day. Friendly service. Just love the place!!!!

Ok bbq, nothing to write home about. Way too much bbq sauce. It was drenched on, and really that's all I could taste.

I'm updating to talk abou the ribs. Scott describes his ribs as "fall off the bone" and that is exactly what they are. Giant meat filled ribs that melt like butter off that bone. My new standard order has to be at least a half rack of ribs, hog nachos and minimum 6 chicken wings. you cant go wrong with that!

I was super impressed with the food and service. The owner is a great guy. I got the pulled pork, which is awesome. It's already mixed with sauce, but I like that. I tried the beans and slaw too....both excellent. Only complaint, if I HAD to pick one would be that there is not extra sauce on the table and there isn't much seating.

Southwest Pit BBQ is unimpressive from the front, I don't mean that in a bad way, I think it's great but it is a small building, and I do know some people that are put off by rough exteriors... I walked into this place for the first time and was immediately greeted by the owner (I assume), he was very friendly and asked me if I needed to look at a menu before ordering, I did not as I had already looked at the menu online and was ready to go. I ordered a sampler of sorts, Hog Nachos, which are corn chips with pulled pork on them and melted cheese, a Brisket sandwich and 6 naked chicken wings. Hog Nachos: I was surprised that the pulled pork came pre-sauced, I didn't have a problem with it, just wasn't used to it per se...the meat was delicious, the sauce was tangy and spicy and the whole thing went together very well, I should note that the cheese comes in a separate container and I chose not to use it, all the same, it was very very good. Brisket Sandwich: You don't know good brisket until you've had good brisket...I have had good brisket before and Southwest Pit BBQ definitely has the real McCoy. Tender and flavorful, good sauce, nice bun, and nicely trimmed of fat, which can become an issue sometimes with brisket. Seriously Scott, if you're reading this, job well done my man! Good brisket is hard to do right. Chicken Wings: I got these just because they are 50 cents each and they seemed to me at least, to be a bit of a flagship item at this place...that and I've never had smoked chicken wings before so I was curious. These things are killer, just perfectly cooked, smokey, flavorful, tender, juicy, perfect chicken wings. I don't know if Scott brines them or not, but they certainly had plenty of flavor, I got them "Naked", the other two options are to have them tossed with BBQ sauce or hot sauce, I think I'll try the hot version next time. If you're looking for great BBQ and you don't think a BBQ place has to have a fancy, log cabin feel, go here...it's about the food, not the ambiance. Scott has a special thing going here, and I for one, am glad to have gotten the opportunity to try it.

I wish this place good but sadly, it is not. The guys are really nice but it's not good. The ribs tasted like they were boiled or steamed. There was no smoke flavor at all. They were extremely tender but lacked any flavor at all. The sauce was not very good either. Not sure if is was pre made or their own but it tasted like cheap store bought BBQ sauce. The wings were nothing special but o.k. My friends sandwich suffered from the same bland flavor.

Passing thru Lincoln on a roadtrip I had a craving for BBQ & after reading other reviews decided on Southwest Pit BBQ. I am so glad I did as this is some of the best pulled pork and most tender ribs I've ever had. Scott, the proprietor, was super friendly (even giving us a sample of the pulled pork before we ordered!) and we got more than our money's worth. Totally unassuming place on the corner but the food is fantastic. Ribs & pulled pork sandwich were my faves.

I got take out from this hole in the wall BBQ joint last week. I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time and just got around to it. Man, am I glad I finally did. This place is not much to look at. It has VERY limited seating, so taking it to go is probably your best bet. The guys who were working greeted us and took our order right away. The whole process was fast, friendly and efficient. My boyfriend and I decided to grab this on the way home from work. We were ready for a BBQ feast, so we had major indulgence in mind. They have lots of combo meals here, which was what we were hoping for. We wanted to try lots of different things since it was our first visit. We settled on the nacho combo. You heard me right. They have a combo meal that includes nachos. Have I died and gone to heaven?! Anyway, the nacho combo comes with a big plate of smoked pork nachos and a smoked pork sandwich and your choice of side for around $9. We also ordered six wings with honey BBQ. We got our food in a very reasonable amount of time. There were a couple of orders in front of us, but I'd say it only took about 15 minutes for us to get our food. We got in the car and I glanced in the bag of goodies and noticed we seemed to be missing the pork sammie. STOP! TURN AROUND!!! When pork is concerned, we cannot leave any behind. We turned around, explained the missing sandwich, and were on our way again with extra pieces of cornbread to make up for the mistake they'd made. We got home and started digging in. The pork sandwich was excellent. The meat had a wonderful smoky flavor and was so tender and juicy you wanted to savor every bite. The sauce on it was fantastic and not too overpowering. The wings were FANTASTIC. I am a huge fan of the Watering Hole wings here in Lincoln, but these certainly give them a run for their money. They had tons of meat on them, were tender and falling off the bone, the sauce was delicious. Mmmm. Well done. The nachos were a bit lack luster for me and I actually doctored them up and threw them in our oven at home. What you get is just smoked pork on corn chips with a container of canned nacho cheese sauce on the side. I put them on a baking sheet, put shredded cheddar on them, baked them, then drizzled a bit of BBQ sauce on them and put a few dollops of sour cream on top. Now those were knock out. Once again, the meat is so good. They know how to do BBQ, for sure. All this delicious food rang it at about $16 plus tip. We didn't even finish it all, but man I wanted to. Oh, and the cornbread? Frickin' delicious. It reminded me of Mexican corn cake. It was sweet, moist, decedent and calorie laden. Yes please.

Just the kind of place we like, where its all about the food. Don't go expecting a fancy place but do expect some great BBQ! I really recommend the wings and in my opinion no sauce is necessary. They are without doubt the best I have ever had. We also had the ribs which were very good, the pulled pork sandwich which was great and the brisket sandwich which was excellent. Check it out.

Most excellent brisket and smoked naked wings- the owner and server were super friendly. An unpretentious vibe- it's really all about the fall off the bone BBQ fixings, which will not disappoint. In town visiting from Chicago, even so, these prices are seriously affordable- which doubles the pleasure - literally.
