I love that there's always something new on the menu when I go here. Super hipster place with an extensive bar and huge patio. Love that they have Jameson on special for HH and the guacamole is always fresh. Try the seafood nachos if they're still on the menu.

Came here to celebrate a successful first week of school, and it was a great choice. I got a Redhead in Bed cocktail. It was wonderful! Very fruity without being overly sweet. Other people in my group ordered various beers and mixed drinks, all of which were satisfying. There are so many food options! Burgers, sandwiches, flat bread, salads. It took forever to go through the menu and decide. I would brave parking in the Haymarket to come here. That's high praise.

Great atmosphere, awesome vegetarian options! Went to have dinner for the 2nd time and again was blown away by food and service. Solid drinks too. I highly recommend the Red Rebel burger with the veggie burger option. Great taste and heat. This has moved to the top of my list of favorite places to eat. We ate outside last night as was a cool night...finally and service prompt and attentive.

The full loaded jacket burger nachos were unique and delicious! The server attentive and drinks filled constantly. The martini was light and refreshing. I enjoyed eating outdoors on the patio.

Not familiar with the location or town we were in we turned to yelp. we started at a place close by and seeing the yelp reviews and ratings we promptly left and ended up here. "trumpets sounding" The beer and drink selections were great. Loved the pub feel of it but at the same time you could tell the food was going to be special. I had the mango chicken and shrimp with couscous. it was really good. The shrimp had a raspberry sauce, not described in the menu but very good. Wife had the philly steak and it was one of the best philly steaks i have ever tried. Good enough kind of place you want to take a road trip for. :) Thanks LeadBelly

Always busy which is a good sign. Don't even attempt if there is a show at the arena. Pretty solid food. The first time I went I got hummus app which was average, and the Reuben egg rolls, taste was fine but there was a weird crunch in the teeth like sand. Not a fan. The second time I got the drink that was on special which was a watermelon mojito, magical. Actual chunks of real watermelon, very refreshing. I also got the crab Rangoon dip app. It was really good but came with a side of sauce that was like cocktail sauce and I wasn't really sure what to do with it. Other wise a pretty good place of you can get into it

You have to have a lead-belly to eat here. The food made myself and my wife so ill that we couldn't spend the night together. Such shame too. We were going watch netflix and chill.

Absolutely nothing worth bragging about. Just another gastropub, with average to never mind food. Staff was friendly, the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. Owners not so much, even unpleasant. They just want my money, they even acted like it.. Many better places to go eat in the neighborhood.

Have you ever had a spin on normal dishes? Try the burgers here! Not your ordinary burgers. Raspberry Beret: not weird at all! Take the sweet and savory and together it makes a mix of perfect harmony! Because of the raspberry sauce it makes this burger a little wet and messy for my taste because I hate a soggy bun but the quality of the bun was able to withstand the wet forces of the bacon juice, raspberry and other wet goodness contained in this burger. Fries were great as they were crosscut fries. I don't recommend the ranch as its too watery and they charge $0.50 for each side of ranch and didn't tell us. Only discovered the charge on our bill. Tap beer comes in a mason jar which was a nice touch. Outdoor seating makes enjoying ur food and people watching a perfect combo! Friendly staff that know the dishes and sizes made selection easy!

This place is the bomb. It's a gastropub which means it's a pub that puts a lot of emphasis on the food rather then just serving basic food options. Some menu highlights: Raspberry Beret burger is one of the best burgers I have ever had. They start with a fresh ground chuck and hand make the burger then cook to a perfect Medium Well. No frozen patty at this place!!! Then they put peanut butter on the bun and add a Jalapeño raspberry jam on the burger. Topped with lettuce and candied bacon. At first this sounds strange but let me tell you, I don't care who you are or what you like you must try this burger. The flavors complement each other perfectly with the sweet and savory tastes. I did not get any heat with this I would call it very mild so don't let the Jalapeño Raspberry scare you, you won't taste it. Instead of fries I got the fresh made citrus coleslaw and it was fantastic. I could eat this all day long. Chopped red cabbage, celery, green onions thinly sliced carrots in a citrus french vinaigrette. We also had the riley steak sandwich which was also very tasty and the BLT which has a garlic aioli and candied bacon which is super tasty. Next time I will want to try the full leaded belly. Located in the Historic Haymarket and close to the Pinnacle Bank Arena this is a great spot to grab a bite and a drink before or after a Husker game or concert.

Our waiter was helpful with recommendations that were spot on. Get the raspberry beret burger with a zipliner. Nice comfortable atmosphere--fun. Just passing through on way to Colorado. Glad we ate here.

At first blush I'm a little confused by the decor which strikes me as more Mediterranean than Gastro Pub. I also wonder about the large Miller High Life neon sign behind the bar - decidedly un Gastro Pub like. The cocktail menu is somewhat ambitious. I ordered a Cucumber Cooler which is muddled mint and cucumber with Tanqueray and soda water. I asked to have a splash of St Germain which always makes this type of drink a little more refreshing. And it is - a great summer cooler. Unfortunately I'm not wild about having it served to me in a mason jar with a straw. Makes me feel like I'm 12. The menu is even more ambitious and large. There is a large selection of the usual apps with a twist, sandwiches, salads, dogs, Mac and Cheese and tacos, all with interesting sounding variations. I was disappointed to be told the cob smoked ham was just "smoked ham". That's disappointing that the staff doesn't know it's smokes using corn cobs (a natural for Nebraska) and that it does have a distinct flavor as a result. I would have been very disappointed had I ordered it. I did go with the pastrami and provolone (a different choice versus Swiss) and had the lettuce and tomato on the side. I was also very curious to see how the High Life mustard tastes - I'm told it's house made with the Millet product in it. So, how was the pastrami? Ok. The baguette is nice and toasty and warm and the provolone works. But with a nice toasted baguette the sandwich begs for the pastrami to be warm and the provolone just so slightly melted. As for the lettuce and tomato, I had to ask for it as it was left off entirely instead of being on the side. They also do this odd mix of waffle fries and crinkle cut French fries which taste like they are anything but house made. Very odd and bland. The service is so so as well. Most questions I asked were either guessed at for the answers or answered somewhat indifferently. As a pub Leadbelly is ok. As a Gastropub it's totally uninspired.

I have went here three times with larger parties (6 or more) and have consistently been impressed. Food is amazing and NOT BORING. They put spins on dishes that are creatively genius. But it's not too much of a spin where my dad or significant other can't handle it. This means it's a win/win. The drinks are amazing-and again, different. We've had great service all three times. Waitstaff has been knowledgable and friendly, since menu might be intimidating for some, they explain it well and provide suggestions. We were in the back caboose last time and it was cold as all get out due to AC on a hot day. (Side note, why do people do this? I understand that it's hot out but it's summer, therefore people are wearing summer clothes. Why would places make the ac so cold where you need to dress like its wintertime in the summer? And how jacked up is it that I actually welcome pregnancy in the summer because my damn hormones keep me warm enough where I don't freeze in public places?) When we asked the waitress stopped the arctic blast for us, she did happily. Well, then of course, another party walked in wearing hoodies and said they were too warm and complained. Wtf. Oh well. My only gripe is that there is nowhere to change a diaper if you need to. Like, nowhere. I even asked and the manager suggested the bathroom floor. Oh, that's a great idea! Thank you- let's put your firstborn on the bathroom floor too! Not like I really want to bring a diaper aged child into a restaurant anyway, but come on. Sometimes, you have to in order to indulge in something other than mac&cheese and hot dogs. I can't be the only person who's run into this there. So, it's a great place with kickass menu and waitstaff. Just leave kids at home and drink instead.

I really enjoy LeadBelly's menu - lots of options. I usually order the lettuce wraps (which are really tasty) but tried the veggie burger the last time I was in. It too was pretty tasty. My complaint with the place, as usual, is the service. The waiters are friendly but super slow. We asked the waitress for one minute to look at the menu and she didn't return for nearly 15! The turn-around time for a lunch meal was way too long for those that need to get back to work.

Service was great, and beer selection looked stout (no pun intended). But it was lunchtime AND I was on a work trip to Lincoln AND I'm not currently drinking.... so that portion was a bust. I did get excited about the Raspberry Beret though... jerked ginger peanut butter, jalapeno-raspberry jam, shredded romaine, red onion and smoked candied bacon? What could go wrong?? The sandwich itself was good, sweeter than I'd imagined though. It could have done with more peanut butter and heat to balance out the sweet. But the fries... good lord those waffle fries were odd. If you ever had the 'space food' fries as a kid, that's exactly what I'd say these were like (though slightly warmer). Crunchy, mildly salty, with no soft potato interior... like it'd all been harvested already by potato mosquitoes. Sad. I'll try LeadBelly again though. There's obviously great potential here.

One of my favorite places in Lincoln for a good burger and fries. The crinkle cut/waffle fry combo is unbelievable. I always order a different burger than who I'm with so we can split and share. Just to try a little bit of everything. Excellent Bloody Mary's and servers/bartenders have always been nice to me. Brat

Awesome atmosphere and service! Had a sandwich that was filled with chorizo and corn and salsa on a cinnamon brioche bun. MMMMMMMMM!! Lots of good options well priced. The beer selection isn't that impressive but they have a few locals and Guinness so I was pleased.

This place is awesome! I don't think there are many places where you can get chips and queso as a side dish that comes with your meal (as opposed to an extra appetizer) - and GOOD chips and queso at that. I ordered the bavarian dawg which was just so delicious. I don't like mustard so I put a tomatillo mayo (or something like that) on it instead which was excellent (unfortunately, they didn't have a remoulade or chipotle ranch). Prices were fair and the menu is large but not overbearing. The only thing missing from it, in my opinion, was pretzel bites on the appetizer list. I was really wanting some soft pretzels to dip in cheese, but hey, at least I got my chips and queso!

My boyfriend and I were visiting Lincoln for the first time. We walked around the Haymarket area and decided to stop here for lunch. The food was satisfying but nothing special. If I was in the area again I would consider eating here again.

I Love their fried mac and cheese. The rest of the menu is really hit and miss. Their American quesadilla has the traditional Mexican toppings, but it tastes really off with the pork inside the tortilla. I wouldn't order that ever again. But I have had their turkey club and their poutine and that's all very good.

I've been to LeadBelly twice and have not been impressed either time. On the first visit, I got a hamburger and it was charred to the point of looking, and tasting, like a hockey puck. The second visit, I ordered a spinach salad. It was supposed to come with peaches and berries. All the fruit was still frozen when the salad arrived at my table! If you are going to use fruit on a salad, it should never be frozen! I won't be returning.

The Cowabunga with chicken leadbelly sandwhich is easily one of my all time favorites. The chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly and the siracha mayo was on point for dipping. The couscous I had for my side was a unique and welcomed option but they need to go back to the drawing board to up the flavors. The Philly Cheesteak sandwhichs both my guests got looked amazing. The price is $10 for a meal. Well worth it. Also the interior was very relaxed but clean, perfect for a date or out with friends and family.

So many drink options. A Highlife with Jameson And some pickle juice. So many burgers. Burgers were better than the aforementioned drink. Haiku review.

Fabulous food and knowledgeable bartender. I bellied up to the bar as the restaurant was packed. Bartender was super friendly, and noticing that I wasn't a local, walked me thru the menu and local beer options. I highly recommend the Raspberry Beret sandwich- so good!

I have ate here twice. Both times the food was ok - not necessarily anything to write home about but it did the trick. However, after both times eating here I became very ill. The first time I had ordered the "park city hot dog" and basically just chalked up my sickness to the fact that hot dogs in general have a lot of mystery ingredients that could make one sick and told myself I wouldn't order a hot dog again. The next time I ate here, yesterday, was several months later. This time I ordered one of their hamburgers, and my friend and I shared guacamole as an appetizer. Both she and I became sick. It was not full-on food poisoning, but basically just consisted of feeling quite ill for some time before we vomited everything we had ate. I did consider the fact that perhaps I have a food allergy or intolerance to some ingredient that Leadbelly uses that I wasn't aware of before. The fact that my friend also got sick trumps this somewhat, however, considering it's not likely we both have the same exact allergy. I do have several other friends who have ate here on numerous occasions and tried many things on the menu and have not gotten sick, so I don't want to slander this restaurant's reputation but do be aware that there is a possibility of under-cooked meats or other sanitary-related issues with the food. I did call the manager about this, however it was somewhat of a pointless conversation. At any rate, I won't be returning again.

Finding a place to just relax after a 20 plus hour car ride from New Hampshire to Colorado, this is the stop before the final stretch. We were greeted immediately and the staff here works as one unit making it a great experience with Awesome consistenty and all around Amazing service. We started by trying the Crab Rangoon appetizer and it was delicious. I'm sipping on the local zipline double IPA and its hitting the spot just right, I went on to get a couple more before we headed out. Had the Cawabunga, Good filling food! We'll definitely be back next time we pass through.

This is my 2nd favorite burger place in Lincoln (next to Crave). I've tried their fish and chips once, but I was not a fan, so I went back to always getting burgers and therefore cannot attest to any other menu items. My favorite burgers are raspberry beret and huevos rancheros. I also really like that you get 2 different kinds of fries, because it's more fun that way. The portions sizes are very large for the price and my service has always been great. I've even gone in several times with very large groups and they have always been accommodating. It's got a fun atmosphere and there is always a funny quote on the board outside. Overall a great place and one of my favorite in the Haymarket area.

  • Katy P.

A lot of tasty items. If you like onion rings, they are a must. If you want to lighten things up they have healthier side options than their fries. I like to get the fresh veggies and the cowabunga chicken sandwich. Also, being from the area, I have a soft spot for the Windy City hotdog.

First time here and I split the Cuban and Raspberry Beret burgers with my date. All I can say is WOW! The creativity and taste of both these burgers was phenomenal.

I ordered the Raspberry Beret over the cheesesteak and regretted it right away. The burger was not bad, but it wasn't as delicious as I had remembered, maybe my expectations were too high. I wasn't asked how I wanted my burger cooked which made me question the quality of their meat and I normally would order medium to medium rare at a reputable place, so when my burger arrived easily well done I was not thrilled. I'm a burger gal, and I didn't finish it. The fries were bland; tasted like frozen fries which was disappointing. My husband got the Loco Mac and cheese and he was very happy with it. It seemed very flavorful but also slightly resembled the cheese dip that is so popular made with Velveeta cheese and hamburger, so if that's not your thing then maybe order something else. My daughter got the regular Mac with shrimp. It was super creamy with great flavor and four shrimp that were slightly over cooked. I have to add, because it's a part of the experience, that our waitress did not make the meal at all enjoyable. She seemed irritated when I asked a few questions during ordering and was the type that wanted everyone to feel how busy she was (there were empty tables), which makes one feel rushed. My husband had to ask twice for another beer and although he got the same beer three times she could never remember what it was. That would have been fine if she didn't have zero personality. There are jobs meant for all types; being a waitress is not hers.

I've been several times and find myself frustrated with this place. The food is just...a little off. I've had several dishes where I order something and find that what I get is very much not what I expected. For example, the fish & chips say they come with malt vinegar, but it's also an aoili-type sauce. It might be a personal issue, but I don't think my tastes and expectations line up with that of the head chef's. On the plus side, they do have excellent pie.

My favorite place in Lincoln! Food is good and the beer is cold! Try their grilled cheese with coleslaw.

Great food, great service, and it's a fantastic Haymarket experience. PLUS you get regular fries AND waffle fries, so you don't have to choose! Highly recommended!

I was treated to dinner at LeadBelly by my best friend, his wife and their son and his gf when I was in Lincoln. It's a great place in the Haymarket area and the food was GREAT! I did not have the nerve to try the Raspberry Beret (jerked ginger peanut butter. jalapeno-raspberry jam, shredded romaine. red onion and smoked candied bacon) but everyone who has had it raves about it. I had the Big Mike (two all-leaded patties. special sauce. lettuce. cheese. pickles. onions, on a toasted brioche bun) but substituted the 'special sauce' for sriracha mayo and skipped the cheese. The burger was amazing delicious! The fries were also great - and there was a ton of them. The nachos to start also were very good so all in all, a great experience. Definitely go back there when I am in Lincoln.

I've been here twice. There are two things on a menu that are irresistible to me: A Cuban Sandwich and a Cheesesteak. My first time, I had the Cuban burger, and it was awesome. I've had some good, bad, and ugly Cuban sandwiches in my time, this was pretty good for a burger-style. I like the mix of waffle and crinkle fries, because sometimes I'm indecisive. Today, I was able to try the Cheesesteak. It was monstrous. I couldn't finish it. It was really good though, the sauce on it was great, the steak itself was a tad overdone, but the peppers, onions, and mushrooms were perfect. I had to add a little salt to it, but I'd rather have an undersalted cheesesteak, than one that burns my mouth, like PepperJax cheesesteaks. Bleh, never eat that if you have canker sores... Service was great, for some reason at noon on a beautiful Saturday, it was pretty barren. We may have just been early for the lunch rush, plus with all the other places in the Haymarket, there's plenty of choices. I'd definitely come back again to Leadbelly's, especially if I had the choice of Leadbelly's over Mellow Mushroom or Buffalo Wings and Rings.

OMG! This place is amazing! Tried it while we were in town. Had the burger with the cinnamon roll and it was the best thing I had ever had. Who would have thought? Be daring and try something different. You truly won't be disappointed!!! Go for it!!!

  • Laurie A.

Ate there on Friday for my boyfriend's birthday. He ordered a sandwich which was very good. I ordered the mac and cheese. When it arrived the cheese sprinkled on top was not melted so I stuck my finger in it and the center was cold. I stuck my finger in several other places and experienced, warm and cold. I called our server over and asked if it had been microwaved due to the extremes in temp. He said no and would bring me another. The second was better- still not hot, but warm enough to eat and since we were on a date I didn't want my boyfriend to wait to eat. We received our bill and were charged full price. I didn't expect to be comped for my meal, but I did expect something for being served cold food. I didn't speak up as it was supposed to be a nice evening and I didn't want to spoil it.

A friend and I meet for lunch at a different restaurant once a month. We have done this now for two years and counting. Leadbelly was just recently opened when we visited. At the noon hour it was very busy but we were seated quickly and courteously. Service was very prompt after with courteous checks in between. My food was unique, flavorful and with a good serving size. I would recommend Leadbelly for lunch or dinner. Great addition to Haymarket.

My co-workers rave about Leadbelly's so I gave it another chance today. I had the Croque Madame - cob smoked ham, Muenster, and yellow mustard on a toasted baguette smothered in tarragon cheese sauce and topped with a fried egg. Flop a fried egg on top of anything and it sounds amazing, kind of like a glorified egg sandwich. Unfortunately this isn't a winner in my book. I think the strong ham taste (which is good, like farm fresh ham) with mustard AND the tarragon cheese sauce didn't mix well with my palette. I scraped off the sauce and it was okay dipped with fries, but I probably won't get this again. Fries were good. Meal was hearty and cheap ($10). Service was SLOOOOW. The waitress was nice, fairly attentive through the meal, but it took forever to get our bill. Had it of been busy (it was lunch hour on a weekday) I would have completely understood. But they weren't busy so no excuses! Neither of my meals were 5 star yet but it won't deter me from returning again to try yet another unique combination.

Interesting first experience. Friends raved about this place (especially the desserts), so we decided to end our night there. Half of us got entrees, half got dessert. First, it took quite a while to get any attention. When the waitress finally came over, she seemed very annoyed that we had sat down in her section. She took our drink order and then proceeded to only bring out half our drinks and sit and chat with us about how bored she was. We all awkwardly made small talk before she went to get the rest of our drinks. She then asked if any of us hadn't been there before and when a few of us responded we hadn't, she launched into an explanation of how their burger menu worked, which was fine (as my guess is they are trained to automatically do this), except she asked us multiple times if we were SURE that we understood how it worked (which we did before she explained). Came off a little like she thought we must be stupid. Two of us got pie and two got burgers. The burgers were good, though basically raw in the middle. Calling it medium was generous. My friend who had ordered the blackberry pie was treated to a long, snaggly, dark hair baked into it. When we brought it to our waitress's attention, she immediately asked if my friend had planted it there herself (even though it was obviously baked into the crust). When we assured her she did not, we were told that they have customers who try to plant hairs in food all the time. She did remove it from my friend's bill and someone (guessing a manager) came out to apologize. They offered to bring a piece of a different kind of pie, which was nice (though I'm not sure if it would have been free or not). My friend had lost her appetite though. All in all, food was decent, though far from the best burger in Lincoln. The service and the hair knocked off a few stars though.

Great, Great tasting burgers!! Had the Rueben burger. It has pastrami, kraut, Swiss cheese & the burger. Good & Juicy. Going back soon to try the Bangers & Mash or the Bavarian dog. The buns they have are what makes the burger.

Stopped when driving thru. Got full leaded jacket burger (cinnamon roll bun, queso, chili, and chips). Wasn't sure what to expect but it was delicious mixture to try! Not sure if I would get it again but definitely must try. Quick service and good atmosphere. Would definitely return.

This place is great, the food is awesome and the atmosphere is very trendy. The only downside is if you get sat in the caboose (overflow seating), that place is depressing and ruins the whole experience. My last time there my server insisted I try the Raspberry Beret burger, I told him it sounded gross, to which he replied "if you don't love it, I'll get it to you for free" so naturally I had to try it and it was one of the top 5 burgers I've ever had in my life. They also have a nice beer selection, service is always great.

Thank you Leadbelly for introducing me to Templeton Rye Old Fashioned and Moscow Mules. And the food is good too! A unique menu with a great variety for the vegetarians in the group. I'm not one of them, so I get the raspberry beret chicken (jerked ginger peanut butter, jalapeno-raspberry jam, chicken and smoked candied bacon) - so different and yummy. The Queso Funido is a must have. My husband got the Full Leaded Jacket (pork on a sliced fresh baked cinnamon roll, topped with chile con queso, sour cream and jalapeños) which looked disgusting to me, but he thought it was great. Great stop before or after a show!

Everything I have tried here thus far has been quite good. From apps to deserts and drinks this place is above par for the area. I really appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff as well. Try the jargarita with a raspberry beret for a heck of a good time.

Dark, wooden, pub vibe. Gets crowded for games. $3 high life and $2 after 10pm. Service is amazing, our waiter was so friendly and gave amazing recommendations. I got the pb&j chicken burger. Chicken was so most. Sooooooo good with the candied bacon & jam. Ordered a side salad instead of fries which is huge, it was a meal in itself. Co-worker ordered the huevos rancheros burger and devoured his fantastic meal. Came with chips and queso instead of fries.

Leadbelly is full of weird, big and generally delicious plates and friendly, smart staff that know the menu and the bar. I went here with a group on a Monday night. We came from out of town and wanted a place that served a full menu of food late. They served full menu until 11, and the menu was big and full of strange choices. The Fully Leaded is definitely the weirdest -- basically a cinnamon roll cheeseburger topped with nachos. They also had the standard fare. The draft beer menu is small but good and they don't have bottled beer. I will definitely come back if I return to Lincoln.

Amazing food. My husband and i were on the way to Denver and downloaded the yelp app. So glad we did!! The fried mac and cheese is a must have, and while I hate strange combinations and peanut butter....don't miss out on their raspberry beret burger!! Don't be discouraged when you look up the menu online. The odd flavors are a nice change from traditional pub food. The service was great as well. Not a single disappointment.

This place has full assortment of items for every one. They boast the best veggie patty in town and I would agree. It is great that you can mix and match it with all their preloaded burger setups too. They also offer several other normal pub food options with an eclectic twist. I highly recommend it and saw several folks drinking Bloody Marys.

Very unique and good food! Not overly complicated on its combinations but just enough flare to be different and remain good!

The two times I have come here I just want to run out the door screaming WHY ISNT THE WHOLE WORLD IN THERE EATING AND TRYING THIS AMAZING FOOD AND DRINKS!!! they and amazing. I got the raspberry burger that it raspberry jam and peanut butter. Their fries and a mix between waffle and crinkle you get a mixture of both. My friend had the fully leaded jacket and that will be my next burger WOW. it was a plate of chips with the burger on top. Topped with a huge cinnamon roll with icing. Then topped with the most amazing heaping spoonful of chili then a ton of yummy cheese. WOW AGAIN! I also had their mugaritas which can only be described by sound. AHhhhhhhummmnmmmh! I had my 21st birthday there and all the Sri ja I had were amazing. I have to train ending on the back of the restaurant for bug groups makes you feel like the place is all yours. They also have a chicken patty, burger, and veggie burger option for every meal to exchange.

Solid choice after 9 hours of driving. Nothing overly special about the food, the staff was quite friendly and helpful. Had the bangers and mash ($14) and the bangers were...not. The potatoes were tremendous, however, and I easily could have had seconds. Worth another look.

I had the nerve to try the Rasberry beret, with chicken and it is fantastic! Alea provided excellent customer service. One of my favorite unique restaurants. Enjoy

Been here several times for business lunches and have never been disappointed. The food and service are both outstanding. The only thing that's really 'weird' is the menu. I still can't figure out what most of the Leadbelly sandwiches are; some come with multiple meats, and others with only one, but there's no rhyme or reason and it's almost impossible to predict what you're going to recieve when the food comes out. I usually just order "the closest thing you have to a regular burger" or ask the waiter to surprise me and it's worked out ok. Four stars, and will upgrade to five if they have someone redesign the menu who isn't trying (and failing miserably) at being creative.

I dined here with co-workers and had a great time! I went with a beer and a cuban burger. It totally hit the spot. Their fries are a mix of krinkle and waffle--loved it! Street parking is currently okay. There is a lot of construction in the area, so allow a few extra minutes for walking to the restaurant if you can't get a close spot.

Most of the food is focus on a la American Mexican food option. Ordered a Nacho with Beef. We'll the nachos were cold (typical hot or warm) and certainly didn't come close to any taste to a Mexican quality food. Total disappointed for I had many nachos and this top the worst style and quality. Great try for ala TexMex Americana food but details needs improvements.

This place has improved a lot since it first opened. They've solved a lot of the problems with servers not knowing what beers are on tap by having a chalk board beer menu for you to reference. They change the beers on tap here so often I don't blame the servers for not knowing but I can understand how it would bother people. Personally I like the variety. Food has always been great. A wide variety to choose from with lots of different cultural influences. My favorites are the Mexican Tastee and the regular hot dog with the chili and cheese added. Never had anything undercooked or cold. Only negative experience was my wife ordered a salad that cost more than my meal and the toppings were barely there. Also not a big fan of the fries. They just lack flavor though I do like the mix of waffle and regular fries. The service has also improved since they first opened. They seem to have things settled into a groove but sometimes they can still be a bit neglectful. The staff has always been cheerful at least. Overall delicious food and drink in a really cool space.

This place is twisted up. I love it. The take some non traditional combinations of flavors that marry up well and slap them on a burger. First, I should tell you the citrus slaw here is out of sight. So tasty I could have eaten a plate of it. My business partner devoured a Raspberry Beret... with jerked ginger peanut butter and jalapeno raspberry jam, and candied bacon. WOW! I had the Cowabunga. It was topped with cilantro, blackened shrimp, and blue cheese dressing. It tasted just fine separately and together. These burgers were tasty and fun to try. If you like, they do all beef sandwiches with chicken or a veggie burger.

I never expected chorizo and egg to taste that good on a burger, but the Huevos Ranchero burger was completely amazing. And my Dad's Raspberry Beret Burger was everything I'd hoped. Sweet, but not cloying. The fries weren't amazing, but I can't hate on waffle fries. Good beer selection too.

We went here for lunch today and we both loved it! We started off with the crab rangoon dip and if you love crab rangoons you will love this! It is a huge portion and amazing. My boyfriend got the full leaded jacket burger with the cinnamon roll and it was amazinngg!! I got the leadbelly cheesesteak and loved that as well. I dont think you could go wrong with anything on this menu. Amazing! Will definitely be returning.

Got the grilled cheese (with basil!) and something called a jargarita. Both were delicious. The drink was big, the service was good, and I really enjoyed the look, feel, and sound of the place. Seems like a good place to hang out with a couple of close friends.

Stopped in for lunch and had the "Leadbelly Burger" whoa, a lot of food. My friend got the "Huevos Ranchero" burger, both were good, but there was so many toppings, you couldn't taste the burger. The tortilla chips were average. The service was really good and the atmosphere was nice. I would come back and try again, but I'd look for a burger that had less "stuff" so I could find out what the burgers actually tasted like. The price was fair, $22 for 2 meals (no drinks).

My wife and I had a mixed experience at LeadBelly. We started by ordering an appetizer and drinks. I believe our appetizer was called Chips, Cheese and Bacon which had great flavor until I ended up pulling a long black hair out of my mouth that came from the food. Without thinking, I took the hair and threw it on the floor, so I couldn't really tell anyone there without the proof. Next our meals came and I had ordered a Mac N' Cheese with blackened shrimp that tasted awesome. My wife had the same Mac N' Cheese dish but with blackened chicken, and the chicken was so overly spicy she couldnt eat it. They did offer to swipe out my wifes dish for something else, but she was full anyway. The service here was good, but my wife and I kind of felt out of place. I'm a truck driver, she's a stay at home mother and LeadBelly was more upscale than we were. Every item on the menu had something in it we had never heard of, which is why we settled for the food that we ordered. We just felt completly out of place and the experience was all over the charts.

Food was unique but excellent! A must try pub with very unique flavors that blend so well together. I recommend the Raspberry Beret and the Full Leaded Jacket! Also, the best French fries in Lincoln. The service was excellent! Service from all members of staff. Very knowledgeable and attentive.

For context, I live in a larger and much more foodie - oriented city and work in Lincoln. Love Haymarket, definitely rooting for more and better food/drink here. I really liked Leadbelly but had expected a somewhat different experience. This is a pub first, food second joint. I ordered a wedge salad and some bbq sliders. The former was the largest, and worst, salad I have ever had at the price. Did I expect better lettuce than I should have in the dead of winter? Yes. That said, only the out leaves had a hint of green. The sliders were good but not great. The atmosphere grew on me- just know what you are getting into- this is a bar with above average food, not a good restaurant with alcohol. Wavered between 3 and 4 stars. Would have given in 3.5 without reservation.

Stopped by for a late lunch on a Sunday. Tried their special of the day which was called the Day After Burger. Burger with munster Cheese, avocado, bacon, turkey , sprouts and I'm not sure what else but by far the burger I've had in years. Wow was it awesome with blackened fries and a Sirracha mayo for dipping. Couldn't have been better. Great find!

This place is awesome. Our server (Aleaha, not sure how to spell it!) definitely played a major part in how amazing our experience was! She knew the menu very well and was able to give me some recommendations that I ended up loving! Our food came out fast and hot. It was delicious! I got the chicken tortilla soup as an appetizer, and they put a later of guacamole under the soup, giving it a nice creamy texture. My boyfriend got the fried Mac and cheese, which was also delicious! Both of us got the Raspberry Beret; him on beef, mine with chicken. Holy moly, AMAZING! At first glance, the toppings may sound a little weird, but somehow, it all works! On top of all this, they gave us a ton of fries! I can not wait to try all of the other interesting dishes that they have to offer! All of this food was only $32 and we were STUFFED! If you're looking for a good atmosphere, wonderful service, and a FULL stomach for a good price, then Leadbelly is the place!

Another place that specializes in quantity instead of quality. All of our meals were accompanied by heaps of French fries. The idea of the food was great, execution failed. The falafel was overly sweet, their attempt a tzatki was somewhere between ranch and garlic sauce. My kids' meals were rather flavorless, pretty much all they are were the aforementioned French fries. On the plus side, our server was very attentive and helpful.

Great food, great service! My recent visit was a surprise! I had the chicken fried steak which is actually a ribeye, but prepared as cfs, our table also had the Mac & cheese which was amazing! Seriously good! And also the table had a hot wing sauce burger, it was also dang good. We'll be back for sure, give it a try !

The food was good, everything else.... Not sure. But I would definitely give it another chance. I was there last week and right when we entered it said "please seat yourself." It took a long time until a waiter noticed us to give us menus. The menu is very unique and I had the Huevos Rancheros burger. It was yummy! The fries on the side seemed boring to me. They didn't have a list of sides on the menu. I definitely want to try the raspberry beret burger though. I noticed the table next to us came after, but got their food before us. I think that is poor service. The price was right! 11 dollars or so for a burger, fries, and water sounds good to me. The burgers are good enough for me to want to come back though. I just think it's more for a fun night out, watching the games, drinking rather than sitting down to eat. -Good food -bad service -fair price

We had just arrived in Lincoln and Yelp had led me to this place, LeadBelly. Thanks, Yelp! We liked it so much we came here twice in a 3-day visit! For our second dinner, we shared two things: a greek veggie wrap with crunchy falafel patties and tangy dressing, and a burger topped with blackened shrimp. What an interesting take on surf-n-turf ... I'll have to try that one at home! From their interesting cocktail list I tried the Paloma ... a grapefruit and tequila concoction that went down easy. The joint was jumping a bit, so service was a little hit-or-miss, but the atmosphere was electric and everyone was having fun. I enjoyed it ... and I would DEFINITELY go back.

Other than the experience of trying to find the correct door to enter the building (you can use either of them, but they're both unlabeled), this place is amazing. If I'm introducing people to the best and most unique burgers in town, this is where I take them. They have a good beer selection, excellent appetizers (try poutine) and great burgers. I highly recommend!

A cinnamon roll cheeseburger?? Who would have thought? But now that I have your attention, I can tell you how much we loved Leadbelly. To start, our server Daryl was amazing. Besides being extremely knowledgeable about the menu, she made some excellent recommendations and in a fun, light hearted way that made us feel like old friends. So yes, I ordered the Full Lead Jacket which is a burger served on a sliced fresh baked cinnamon roll, topped with chile con queso, sour cream and jalapeños. All I can say is, I didn't want it to end. It was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. Also ordered was a burger served with a peanut butter sauce and candied bacon. It was very yummy as well and he was really happy with his choice. Based on Daryl's recommendation we shared a piece of sweet potato pie that was perfect. Not too sweet, but extremely delicious topped with one of the creamiest whipped creams ever. All in all, this place is a must visit if you're in the Lincoln area.

So this was our first time here. Not a lot to say. Nothing exciting. One good thing was our server. He was very attentive and very friendly. All three of us that day decided on different salads. No one was really impressed. Don't get me wrong, they were not horrible but were not great. Do not order the wedge salad if you are looking for a classic wedge salad. It is not a classic wedge. Just a heads up. I think I would give it another chance but I might go for a burger next time.

2 1/2 Stars. Not bad, but could be way better. I've been here three times and it's been a mixed experience. First time I had the Curry Leadbelly w/ chicken. It was decent, but the curry sauce definitely had too much curry in it. You know how curry powder tastes if you don't cook it? That's how it tasted: bad and overpowering. Went there another time with a large group and that was a better experience. I had a veggie burger Leadbelly, the one w/ white cheddar cheese and sriracha mayo, and that was very tasty. I liked that they let me sub crudite for fries. And on my last visit I had the Raspberry Beret Leadbelly with a veggie burger and no bun. It was artfully presented but I did not care for the sweet on sweet on sweet. It would probably be better w/ beef which would be a more pronounced contrast to all of the sweetness. The fries are really a low point for me. They definitely taste like they are frozen, and at this type of place, where almost everything is made fresh, that is inexcusable. If they are made fresh, then they need to work on their recipe. Also, portions are okay, but seem uneven. For example, the $11 Flatcars are a little on the small side, while the burgers and fries seem large. And why does it cost $2-$3 to put meet on an already overpriced salad?

    (2)
  • Katy B.

The food was ok. Not horrible, but not somewhere I'd tell my friends they just had to try. The portions were outta control huge! I mean I like getting a good amount, but I was very hungry and only ate about a third of my meal. We went in the afternoon and there where not many people there... but our server seemed to keep disappearing. Slow service and had to wait after we got to go boxes for our meals to ask for the check.. Which also took awhile.

I've eaten here a few times now and I must say: these are some of the best burgers in town. The service can be hit-or-miss depending on how busy they are; I've had great and also not-so-great experiences there. But if you go in with low expectations, that's not a big deal. Its essentially a bar type setup where you seat yourself at a booth or at several hightop tables and wait to be served. My favorite so far has been the Raspberry Beret burger. It was a very unique burger with peanut butter and jalapeño raspberry jam. I've had a few other burgers as well and they've all been great. They've also got some great, unique sides to go along with all their dishes, which I appreciate since I'm not a huge fan of french fries. You won't be disappointed!

Service still has some kinks to work out but food and beer selection are solid. Menu is bold and takes risks but everything we had worked well. Vegetarian Po' Boy! So delicious. Also had the veggie burger in various iterations -two of us agreed patty was too salty but burger setups are great. The crazy cinnamon roll/cheeseburger was a big hit as well. Service was friendly but seemed inexperienced. We went for lunch around 1pm and were told our drink options consisted of pepsi products or tea. I asked again, as I thought this was a bar and wanted a beer, but the server just offered the same soft drinks. There's no way any of the adults in our party looked under 21, so I'm not sure what this was about. She also offered to bring some more won ton chips with the app we ordered without our asking, but when we asked her where they were she told us there would be an upcharge. Strange. Went again for dinner and had a super nice server who knew nothing about beer. He described an IPA on tap as "something between a Miller Lite and Guinness" which, though possibly a correct guess at the color, describes nothing about the taste of the beer. When in doubt (and especially when restaurant is not busy), offer guests a sample of the beer rather than a poor description.

Despite almost every single burger our group ordered being undercooked, the food was good. The Cuban was particularly good, very unique. The atmosphere was a little crowded but not bad ambience. Nothing extraordinary here though. It will be your typical Haymarket experience, just so-so.

Super great place next to the holiday inn....great menu, full of creativity, and tasty sounding dishes. Tinga sandwich was very good but the pasole knocked my whiskers off. Bartender is great guy too. Good service. Will be back on my next visit to Lincoln.

So, a few of my coworkers came down there on their second day open for Lunch. It's right across the street from where we work, so it was a very convenient option. A cozy little place, we opted to sit outside on their nice patio overlooking 8th and P, which was a cool view. I ordered the highly recommended Fish and Chips, and at ~$10, I was a little apprehensive, as that seemed a little pricey to me. However, I was quickly blown away. Their Fish and Chips are honestly better then the ones i had at Clancy's (which, as an Irish Pub in Omaha, is saying something.) Everything on the plate was absolutely delicious, including the extra side of Sirachana Alioli i wanted to try. The fish was breaded perfectly -- nice and crunchy, but not overpowering. The pub sauce was great, as was the Alioli. The corn was awesome, simply lightly salted and grilled, with a nice char. The fries were delicious, although, being a purist, I wish they included more waffle fries in their "Waffle Fries / Crinkle Cut Fries" mix. Regardless, they were seasoned to perfection. Staff was friendly and very professional, my drink never ran dry, and I ended up leaving a 20% Tip. Everybody else gave high praise on their meals as well. All in all, it was a great experience. Being the new kid on the block in the Haymarket, I'm sure they are going to give Brix And Stone a run for their money, and if that dish was just a little bit cheaper, I'd eat there everyday.

  • Mel R.

Service and ambience were both nice. The food was unique, but it's more of a bar with food than a gastro pub. The food just wasn't good. Their shining star the "fish and chips" was your typical bland under salted beer battered fish and chips. And the kaluah pork nachos was interesting but tired quickly.

  • Cody F.

The food looks amazing in the photos on Yelp, but unfortunately I'll never know what it tasted like. My co-worker and I went in last night and sat at the bar just after the Nebraska basketball tip-off, so the place was pretty quiet. The bartender did not seem like she wanted to be there, and was very standoff-ish. We ordered our drinks and tried to make light conversation. Everyone we'd met in Lincoln was so nice and friendly, so we figured we could count on the same. The bartender was very short and snippy with her replies to us. Then an older couple came in and she spent the rest of the time we were there talking to them, ignoring us. We got the vibe she didn't want us there, so we finished our drinks and left. Shame too, because of all the positive reviews and the recommendation of some of the upper management in our company we had high hopes. Went down the street and a much better experience at McFarland and Son's. They at least seemed like they wanted us to be there.

We stopped in for a late lunch and everything was great, had quite a few of their awesome Mojitos and we all had something different so we could check out the flavs. I think they have done a good job on the menu and the service seemed to be exceptional, we never had to wait for anything and our waitperson was sweet and friendly. Overall, it was a very nice atmosphere where you can just kick back and enjoy. We will definitely be coming back.

Great food! Had the hummus, fish and chips, and grilled cheese. Decent price...no über cheap, pretty average. Ate outside and loved being in the haymarket outside eating. I'm personally more of a fan of its sister store toast, but this is still great!

I have been to LeadBelly 5 or 6 times now and I think I'm pretty confident with giving them a 4 star review. They have some great things going on here. The atmosphere is great. I love what they've done to the space. This is such a cool, old building and after seeing mediocre restaurant after mediocre restaurant come and go here, it's very exciting to have LeadBelly. The food has been generally very good. I have tried quite a few things, fish tacos, Mexican Tasty, Raspberry Beret LeadBelly, Croque Madame, and spinach salad. My favorite thing I've had from there is probably the Mexican Tasty. This sandwich has chorizo sausage, salsa, roasted corn, red onion, cilantro and pepper jack cheese all on a cinnamon and sugar brushed brioche bun. I love the flavor combo. I think the light hint of cinnamon and sugar really takes this over the edge. It's damn good. I also really enjoyed the Raspberry Beret LeadBelly. The LeadBellies are essentially burgers but you can choose your patty-beef, chicken, or veggie. Mine was beef and topped with jerked ginger peanut butter, jalapeno raspberry jam, and candied bacon. Awesome toppings and the burger patty itself was damn good. My least favorite meal I've had is the spinach salad. I wanted a nice and light meal and this was too light. This salad is $10 and i got a tiny bit of candied bacon and pecans and a ton of dressing. It drives me nuts when I order a salad that costs more than most things on the menu and they skimp on the toppings. Seriously, the Raspberry Beret was $8.99 and had TONS of candied bacon on it. What is with that?! Another gripe is that they won't let you do onion rings instead of fries with your meal. I'm not a huge french fry person and I am especially not wild about theirs. They do a waffle fry/regular fry combo and they are really bland. I would be happy to pay a bit extra to have onion rings instead of the fries. The beer selection here is great. They have lots of awesome tap selections and they are always different. Seriously, on more than one occasion the taps have changed while we were still there. They rotate them out so there's always something new. The service is alright. The first few times we came it was not that great, but they've been open for a while now and seem to be in the groove. The last few times I've been the service has been awesome.

I went out with a group of people and we had an awesome experience. We normally wouldn't stay at a place for 2 hours unless we are having a ball or the place is super busy or slow. Went for dinner with my husband. We ordered the poutine appetizer, fish and chips, and the chicken fried steak. We were underwhelmed with the quality of the food. It wasn't bad, but not good either. The fish tasted fresh and the batter was crispy, but it lacked flavor. Same with my husband's chicken fried steak. The fries were cooked well and were not super greasy, but they also didn't have any "wow" factor. The corn on the cob that was served with our meals tasted like it was frozen corn and didn't have much flavor either. The service was okay. We had to ask for silverware and napkins about halfway through eating our appetizer and it took a while to get boxes and our check at the end of the meal. Granted, the place was fairly busy so we didn't think this was a huge deal. Overall, it seemed like a pretty nice place to go and have a couple of drinks, but the food price was a bit higher than I'd expect to pay for typical bar food.

You may be trying too hard to be clever when... * One of your menu items combines a cinnamon roll with a burger. * All of your drinks have to come in cute, trendy mason jars. * It seems nearly impossible to find an entree that doesn't involve some dancing, orgasmic melange of exotic spices. But besides the faint stench of desperation to be unique, this restaurant was A-OK and definitely a must-try for adventurous epicureans. The less adventurous, on the other hand -- including me, a NON-spicy-food-enthusiast who likes to know what flavors to expect and doesn't typically eat meat -- may find the menu a bit perplexing. The only menu item that appealed to me was the veggie burger without cheese and with the spicy sriracha mayo on the side. But I have to say, it was incredibly tasty! And those mason jars really are pretty darned adorable.

The service was horrendous. Our waitress knew nothing about the drink menu, didn't know which beers were on tap or what wine was available. We were seated in an awful section of the restaurant that is supposed to resemble some type of box car. It was loud and the atmosphere was uninviting. We ordered the nachos and fried mac and cheese. They were both failures. No flavor and presented poorly. I will not be going back anytime soon. huge fail, leadbelly.

Walked into the Leadbelly for lunch not knowing anything about it except the positive reviews on Yelp. So glad we did. We had the Full Leaded Jacket and the Rasp. Beret as these were recommended by our server. Both were excellent but now wish I would have only eaten half of the Full Leaded Jacket for obvious reasons as it was huge. I had never had a hamburger on a cinnamon roll before and it was wonderful. Will definitely return when we are in the area.

Such a great experience! Friends and I met down here for the soft opening and had a wonderful experience. Service was impeccable as well as the inventive menu items. Aside from being locally owned and operated Leadbelly is a true competitor with Lincoln restaurants. Will be back Tuesday may 28th for opening day!

Man, what a cool place. Our waiter was extremely helpful, explained everything to us, and mentioned his favorites. I ordered the Raspberry Beret. Very different. Peanut Butter with hint of honey, jam, and some delicious bacon with my chicken burger. It was very good. My wife and sister ordered other bugers and they loved thiers too. The fries were great too. Didn't find anything I disliked about this place. I loved all the crazy burgers to chose from and for that, I give them a 5 star. If your ready to go out of your comfort zone and try something that just doesn't sound right together, this is your place.

I was very excited to eat at this new restaurant in Lincoln. They did an outstanding job with the remodel, and putting in the raised patio for outdoor eating was a great idea. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. I was expecting it to have more flavor, but instead it's just plain - nothing really special. Service was good and friendly, and the atmosphere is great, so hopefully they pick it up in the food area and this could be a great restaurant for years to come.

Delicious, creative, and fresh food!! Curry burger with veggie patty was to die for. LOVED the house salad. Service was wonderful. Great haymarket atmosphere and patio. You've gotta try this place--you won't be disappointed.

The place looks amazing with plenty of seating out front, great people watching. The interior is dark warm and inviting with all of the wood. There's comfy booths and a large open bar to sit at. The place is new so the service was a bit hit and miss. I personally didn't like the beer selection it's either Miller High Life or Hopluia. But it will be popular with the locals as there's lots of dark Micro brews. The food was a mixed bag, we started with the Seafood Nacho which had a great cheese sauce and tasty fire grilled shrimp but it was my first experience with imitation crab (not my bag). For mains my wife had the Bangers & Mash which the over attentive server had to explain what 'Mash' was but forgot to explain what 'Bangers' were. She knew what Bangers are because she has visited England many times and read the menu description. The sausage was delicious from Greta's Gourmet, the potatoes were made with real buttermilk and were a blast from my grandmothers cooking in Maine as a child. But gravy was some of the best I've had in Lincoln, really rich and savory in flavor. Sadly my Fish and Chips were really poor. The four filets of fish came out served like cylindrical shaped corn dogs which was a real warning alarm. The batter was crunchy and decent but the actual fish was hard and had no flavor at all, all watery and borderline inedible. They had used no seasoning on the fish. They also forgot to serve lemon with the fish and malt vinegar. I sent it back and know my Fish and Chips after growing up in a fishing town in England. The Fish and Chips at the Green Gateaux are fathoms ahead (excuse the pun). The manager was very nice and removed my dish from the bill and was very accommodating. Our server asked us at least 6 times during the meal if we were 'Okay'. We had no child with us that night so wanted a relaxing night with just appetizers and then dinner later on but after being asked 3 times we finally gave in and put in our order for our mains. It was annoying and pestering. I think the place will do well and I may come back to try something else on the menu. Just no more Fish and Chips, the burgers do look good.

If you are staying at a hotel in the Haymarket area do not go here. While the food was good they are not equipped to do take outs. I asked for a bag to carry all four of my containers and the answer was. We don't do take out. No they didn't even have a bag! Go in and sit down but do not expect their ability to accommodate take out orders

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. I tried the full leaded jacket, not really knowing what to expect. It wasn't the typical chili burger I thought I might get. Instead it was a bowlful of burger, cheese, cinnamon roll, and chili. A gooey mess, but delicious! Totally unique flavor. We also had the Maux Chaux appetizer, which was great, and my wife enjoyed a flavorful salad. Great service with a waitress who did her best to explain the menu choices. An outstanding meal!

Very good meal. Fun innovative takes on dishes. The Cuban burger with Slow Roasted Pork on top as excellent.

Love this place! Great food, interesting and creative cuisine, and very veggie-friendly. Good service, too. Only 2 criticisms: 1) it gets really, really loud and crowded. In addition to waiting for a table, you usually end up needing to shout at your table mates during peak hours. The bare wooden floors/walls heighten the problem. 2) They once told us a sandwich was vegetarian, so we ordered and ate it, but the next time we went and ordered it, our waiter informed us there was ground up meat in the sauce. Um, okay, please get your facts straight because that is a really bad experience for a vegetarian. But, I trust it was a mistake that won't be repeated, and the overall experience is great here.

What a great place that I hope is around to stay. Honestly, if we are talking about the taste of the food, this place deserves a five stars. I had the Raspberry Beret burger and the maque choux crab dip appetizer, along with a Jameson Julep cocktail. All were excellent and I was amazed at how well the toppings on the burger complimented each other so well. My reasoning why I had to take off a star was that I felt the appetizers and cocktails were over priced. $8-10 isn't horrible for a cocktail and $7-12 isn't horrible for an appetizer IF they are decently portioned. I just felt the quantity for the price didn't match up. My only other complaint is the wait list system for when they are busy. They hang up a sheet and you write your name on it. It would be extremely easy for someone to cross a couple names above them off to get a seat faster. It's basically an honor system. Luckily, the folks around here are mostly good people so you really don't have to worry about it, but still not something I would use.

Best vegetarian burger I've ever had. It was the raspberry beret burger. We also had the turkey club which was also great.

The single "big mike" has my vote for best burger in Lincoln. I travel all over and have had many great burgers; this stacks up against the best I have had. The leadbelly crew (Danielle was amazing) is awesome and I will be there much more. It will replace a long-standing locally owned "go to" place I have had for years. Lincoln, meet the new standard for great, reasonably priced food. Please support more local spots and break your Applebee's addiction! BTW, the complaint above about paying extra for protein had to have been by someone who has never left this great city. It is standard and more than appropriate. Thanks Leadbelly!!

I've been to LeadBelly's twice now. What a great new restaurant for Lincoln. It is priced reasonably, has a great atmosphere, and the food was good. I tried the fish and chips. They were excellent. I've also tried to Fully Leaded. It is a burger served on a cinnamon bun covered in cheese, chips and other delicious things. I had to try this burger because I've never seen or heard of anything like it. Wow, what an experience! I was only able to eat about 4 or 5 bites because it was a huge meal but I took the rest home and it was just as delicious the next day. If you are a hungry and looking to try something different that dish will do it. Will definitely be coming back to this place and wishing them the best of success.

Leadbellys is a place with unique food ideas but lacks the talent to execute the concept. I had the burger with peanut butter on it, there most popular according to my server. The flavors were disjointed and don't work. One issue is the burger has jam and candied bacon which makes the burger to sweet. The red onion slices were way to thick and overpowering. The meat quality is good and the bun too. Service was excellent as is the decor.. I would not order this burger again, its a wreck. The waffle/krinkle fry combo are frozen throw aways. Its 2 1/2 stars.

The food was marginal. Items had to be returned to be re-done. Our drinks were niot served and two in our party had to inquire about them. The wait staff wasn't familiar with the menu. I know it's new, but there a too many issues. The six people I was with will probably not return.

compliments for the unique burger options. have tried several and have not been disappointed. Fun atmosphere and has great outdoor seating. I would probably rate a little lower but would like them to succeed. I think the food is really good but the waiting for a table can be a little awkward and seems to be some confusion with the staff. Im sure they'll work out the kinks and I think this place is worth a visit.

A welcome addition to the Lincoln dining scene. The food is very good, love the burgers, great flavor. The Maux Choux appetizer is very rich and consistently yummy. Great drinks, fun bartender. After three visits I can say they broke the curse of this location!

I really hate to judge a restaurant by just one experience, but I am very disappointed. My friend and I split a salad and a sandwich. The salad was missing the sour cream, the shredded chicken consisted mainly of skin and fat, and they charged extra for salsa. I expect one extra dressing to be free, as is the norm. The veggie burger was very soggy as well. Furthermore, we ordered the mixed fries and got just two measly waffle fries. Lastly, the service was sub par and I question the servers hygiene.

Went to Leadbelly's about 11 pm on a Monday night. Didn't know their kitchen closed at 11, but, no matter, my wonderful waiter, Devin, let the kitchen know they were getting another order. I picked an appetizer called, "Maque Choux," a Cajun crab appetizer and paired it with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Delicious. I will definitely go back for more.

I came here with two friends for dinner on a Wednesday night. We found our own table which I would rather have been seated as we were new to the restaurant. The bar had a nice variety of different beers on tap. We split the crab dip and guacamole appetizers. Both were very good, especially enjoyed the crab dip's flavor and hint of spice. I tried the fully leaded jacket, aka the cinnamon roll cheeseburger with nachos on top. I think the tortilla chips were too much for me but I did enjoy the salty/sweet of the burger, cheese, and roll. I don't think i would get this again but I did really enjoy it. My dining companions had the Mexican Tasty and the Raspberry Beret and both enjoyed them. When I return I plan to try the Beret as I LOVE peanut butter. We were too stuffed to try the pie but the slices I saw at the other tables looked large and delicious! Our server was very good and prompt and knowledgeable.
