I followed so many reviews between here and Dish restaurant and this one ultimately won out due to its date night menu ($57 4-course meal for two which included wine). The experience meant and exceeded our expectations. Our server was so polite and so knowledgeable with the wine and cuisines. The restaurant sits within Lincoln's old train station which gave it that upscale old metropolis feel in a way. The location is perfect to hop out to one of the many bars. This is a must try if you want an upscale and a premier customer experience that won't break the bank!

Overall, this is the best restaurant in Lincoln. The Wagyu (Kobe) steak is one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, which includes places like Mortons, Elways, and Ruth Chris! I have ordered the Wagyu 8oz steak 3 different times, medium rare, and it comes out perfectly medium rare. Others who have reviewd them ordering medium rare and having it come out medium well baffles me. If that was the case, you should tell your server and have them replace it because cooking a Wagyu steak medium well should be a crime. Seriously, call 911 and tell the arresting officer what happened, and they will gladly lock the chef up for a week to think about what he did wrong. That said, my 3 Wagyu steaks I have eaten have all been perfect. I also highly reccomend the scallops. They are perfectly prepared, not chewy and are soft in the center, and that seems to be a challenge for some other area restaurants. I usually do the surf and turf, 8oz steak and 2 scallops (see pic). JTK also has a huge premium whiskey and nice wine selection. Another plus and little known fact is they have a private dinning room accross the hall that is very elegantly furnished and a long table that can hold up to 25. That room also has a big screen TV so this room is perfect for private parties. If you enjoy fine dinning and don't mind paying a little extra for it, this place is for you. Lincoln does not have many places like this so I reccomend trying this place for Date Night or a Birthday or Anniversary Dinner. It is truly a special experience. Their Date Night menu is pretty good and a good value for a special dinner. For desert they mix it up from time to time, and I love the crème brulee and bananas foster. Both very tasty.

Knowledgeable staff, excellent food, elegant design. The pork medallions were very good, correctly cooked, melted in my mouth. Prices quite high for Lincoln, but we'll worth it. This is excellent date night fare.

Great ambiance, great service, great location, and great food! I highly recommend the scallops, and as for wine, you can't go wrong with their variety of choices. If you're looking for something upscale, this restaurant in Lincoln's Haymarket District is a fantastic choice. Their dinner for two is also a good deal.

An employee here (who shall remain nameless to avoid reprisal) told us the majority of their business is now through Living Social and similar deals. If that doesn't worry you, it should. Like other posters here, we visited using the Living Social deal (two $25 entrees and a $21 bottle of wine). We had low expectations due to reviews from online sources and from friends. JTK did not fail to disappoint. Why the decor gets raves is beyond me. They raided a Pier 1 for a few wall mountings and dimmed the lights. This does not impress me. But the food and service are what really matters. Unlike other reviewers, we visited on a Wednesday night and the place was fairly busy. Our server was prompt and attentive and very friendly. We ordered the scallops and pork tenderloin and waited about 40 minutes for our food. Up to this point, no complaints. But the food...the food. People, constructing a fancy menu and charging very high prices does not make for a top-level restaurant -- not in Lincoln, not in Omaha...not anywhere. The four tiny scallops I received were overcooked and served on incredibly bland risotto. The pork tenderloin could've come from Applebee's. Come to think of it, we could have spent half as much money and gotten food twice as good at Applebee's... There are much better places in Lincoln for fine dining. We were very disappointed and won't return.

Food was 4 stars (one of the best places I've ever eaten in Lincoln). Price: 5 stars (great bargain for the quality of food you get, especially with their date-night menu). Ambiance/Decor: 5 stars. Service: 1 star, knocking my review to 3 stars. The restaurant was not busy, yet we had to wait at least 20 minutes between being seated and our waiter even introducing himself. I thought the restaurant had simply forgotten about us. That set the tone for the rest of the evening. Service was incredibly slow and arbitrary: in spite of our very long wait for our appetizer course, we still didn't get our bottle of wine until after the appetizers were served! In all, our dinner took 2 hours, and most of that was spent waiting. While I liked the food and I appreciated the wine list, I think I'll try out other places here in Lincoln before coming back to JTK.

I would probably rate this the best fine dining establishment in Lincoln. Eaten here twice, both times ordered from the date menu. The menu is unique, food is inspired, and presentation is nice. The atmosphere is perfect for couples or families - very intimate & contemporary, warm colors, interior brick walls, and nice bar! Wait staff has been prompt & knowlegeable each time. We always leave feeling satisfied, and that it was money well spent.

Overall an excellent place to eat in Lincoln. Scotch and wine lists were surprisingly good, with a great selection of both. We had the pulled pork with jalapeno cream sauce and red onions appetizer, and for my entree I chose the scallops with an orange reduction sauce (a daily special it seemed) - both excellent! Continental/French influences were very apparent in all of our dishes, and seemed uniformly well done. Food presentation was excellent. Service was top notch as well, and the location seems to be prime, located in the historic Haymarket district, which is actually really trendy and cool. I was extremely pleased and would not hesitate to come back!

We went for their "date night" menu because it seemed like a great deal. (Their online menu for date night seems to have 2 versions on their web site, depending upon whether you click on date night menu or Dinner menu. The dinner menu option started with a different date night menu and lower down had their regular menu. This was the date night menu that was offered that night. Maybe they need to update their web page? We arrived early, about 6:00 on a Friday evening, no wait to be seated. Their date night menu is a limited offering from their regular menu. I think there was plenty to choose from, and we also could have just gone with the regular menu. 3 appetizers offered, one spicy, one vegetarian, and a "taste of jtk" which is chef's creation. We went with the taste of jtk, it was 2 Italian meatballs with mozzarella cheese, grilled summer squash, and a drizzle of a green sauce that was lemony, maybe a basil pesto... Oh so good. Not a big offering, but it's an appetizer. Whet the appetite! We were also served a small wedge of a yummy bread with dipping plate of Olive oil and balsamic (comes if you order the salad). Very tasty. I ordered the grilled Caesar salad which was a wedge of Romaine very slightly grilled to just wilted, sprinkled with fresh grated parm, croutons, and slightly drizzled with a thick creamy Caesar dressing. It was divine! Hubby ordered the nightly soup offering which was Mediterranean tomato bisque. Server had said it had some heat, so I had passed on it, very tender mouth. However after tasting it, it is NOT HOT. It has a deep smoked paprika flavor, and is the best tomato soup I have ever eaten, bar non. My entrée was atlantic salmon, seasonal veggies, basmati rice, and lemon emulsion. The server suggested cooking to medium, which I do at home, so they do know how to cook their fish! It was grilled superbly, and the sauce drizzled on it perfectly complimented the salmon. Asparagus was grilled just right, and the rice was perfect. Husband had the Petite tenderloin medallions, and sides... meat was tender and flavorful, cooked to medium-rare perfection. Again, great dish! We shared the blueberry bread pudding. Oh so good, perfect ending to a perfect meal. I think this is the best restaurant I have been to in Lincoln. We will be back. **Oh, and the bottles of wine offered on date night menu... we wanted red, went with the coastal vines pinot noir. I am not a huge red wine fan unless it's a bit sweet, but this was a very drinkable wine! Not dry, not sweet, just a good flavor that complimented the meal. Great cheap house wine, and we each had 2 full glasses for the extra $12.

Been going to jtk since its inception back in 2007. The wagyu is an excellent choice if you're looking for an excellent steak -- it's buttery and popping with flavor and simply melts in your mouth. jtk has a wide wine selection and a knowledgeable staff that can help you with pairings. The atmosphere is tone perfect for their niche -- it's a little more upscale than most places in Lincoln but you never feel ill at ease in the presence of the friendly and down-to-earth wait staff. Scallops are also excellent. It's always on our list of places to go when we are celebrating or commemorating.

Love this place and their date night menu! 5 star dining for a reasonable price. I have never been disappointed in their quality or flavors. I have tried something different with each visit. $57 date night menu for 2 includes a shared appetizer, soup or salad, 2 entrees , shared dessert & a bottle of wine. The only thing I was disappointed by was their price for a glass of house wine.... $12! I'll stick to the bottle on wine and the date night menu next time. Very romantic atmosphere and very laid back. I sometimes feel rushed out of other restaurants. Here they want you to enjoy your entire experience.

JTK has a nice ambience and friendly service. We had the date night menu, but upgraded the bottle of wine. The bruschetta was a bit overly sweet and the bread was hard. I mean rock hard. The roasted red pepper and goat cheese soup made up for it though. I could have just had a bowl of that and been completely happy. My chicken and risotto were good, but nothing exceptional. My companion had the kobe beef burger and really enjoyed it. The dessert, bread pudding with blueberry sauce and vanilla bean ice cream, was delicious. All in all, the experience was nice, but not overly exciting. The service was great. I'd go back, but I have no sense of urgency to do so.

I have been here several times, and the food and service have always been outstanding. This is still the place to take someone if you want to impress them. I have a problem with people giving a place like this 1 or 2 stars. Really? I find it hard to believe that there would be such an enormous difference between their experience and mine. It just doesn't make sense.

We LOVE JTK in the old Lincoln, Nebraska train station. The food, service, atmosphere and prices are great. We go there frequently, hosted our son's prenuptial on the patio which is the old train station platform. Great entrees, wines, desserts and quiet so you can have an adult conversation....one of the main things we look for in a dining experience and very, very hard to find in Lincoln. I think it's the best kept dining secret in Lincoln. P.S. They accept the Passport Dining Card but you can't use it with there "Date-Nite" menu which gives each of you a choice of one of 3 dinner choices with soup or salad, an appetizer, a bottle of wine for $50. I'd give it 7 Stars, if that was available!

As far as fine dining experiences go, JTK is a decent place to hit up and I suspect one of the nicer places in town to go to for fine dining. My date and I partook in the Date Night menu and we found it to be decent but not great. Everything about the experience (appetizer, entrée, dessert, and wine) seemed decent. I hate to keep using the word but that defines my experience at JTK. It was a good experience but I think that was more so because of the company. JTK didn't make it a bad one though, which is something that should be considered.

I hadn't visited JTK since an average visit almost four years ago, but decided to check it out again on the recommendation of a friend. I was thoroughly impressed with my experience-- it isn't the best place in Lincoln, but it's definitely in the conversation. While the server wasn't overtly personable, he did every single step correctly. He was present & hospitable at the table, but didn't linger. The smallest detail was thought of & executed correctly. Furthermore, he knew his menu-- from wine to cocktails to food. I believe his name was Shannon and I'd suggest requesting him. We didn't opt for the "date night" which essentially just limits your appetizer & entree options & gets you a free bottle of wine that costs the restaurant $4. We started with the Bruschetta and the vegetables were incredibly fresh & they only shaved a bit of parmesan on top instead of heaping tomatoes on cheesy bread like many other restaurants seem to be doing. I had the Pork Filet and opted for the Saffron Risotto instead of the Smoked Cheddar Risotto (no additional charge). The Risotto wasn't bad, but nothing too special. The Pork was cooked perfectly with a nice char & the sauce paired nicely. The Asparagus was actually grilled (instead of sauteed) and had great flavor. My girlfriend had the Salmon dish which was cooked perfectly. The menu wasn't too creative or intriguing, but it was obvious that they took pride in executing their menu correctly. JTK deserves a solid 4 stars. The wine list needs to be retouched. Their bottle selection is excellent (though they try and gain an extra $5-10 per bottle over what they should be charging). Their wines by the glass selection is sub-par in my opinion. The dinner menu could be more creative. The interior makes me think they found all their interior decorations at a Pottery Barn fire sale-- really lacking any character or cohesion. If they addressed these minor issues it might become Lincoln's best restaurant.

3.5 stars. We will go back and definitely could be a strong 4 stars but we started off on a bad note when it took 5 mins for someone to greet us when we arrived (no line waiting.) Then, we were seated at bar and waited another 5 mins to even be greeted at bar even though we were only one's sitting there.. So, this was quite frusterating to me. Overall, my wife probably liked it a bit more than I did. We did the date night special for $50 which included a starter, 2 main dishes, desert and bottle of wine off of a price fixe menu. I have to say, this was a great deal. If I'm not in the mood for a chunk of beef, I would definitely recommend trying this out. We shared stuffed mushroom app which was good. I had the pork shoulder which was very good and tender with rissoto. My wife had the filet medalions which were cooked perfectly for her. Shared the chocolate brownie desert and were very happy with our meal. Our waitress did a much better job with service than the greeters and bar-tenders. As I said before, if it wasn't for the lack of service at the beginning, we would have been looking at an easy 4 stars. But, when you're in a fine-dining establishment, above avg service is expected and paid for.

I'm from New York and was in town for 1 night and ended up eating at JTK. From the moment we arrived to the time we left it was an amazing experience. Food, service, atmosphere.....all top shelf. JTK compares to any of the restaurants in NYC. Run, don't walk to JTK. Ps....get the Kobe. You'll wonder how you lived without it.....

My wife and I finally decided to tried JTK out. The service staff was very informative and helpful. The food was outstanding but I'm kind of disappointed. I was told by a friend that JTK serve buffalo steak and I was very excited to try it out. Unfortunately, they don't have the buffalo steak on the menu anymore. But they do have the most delicious and tastiest steak I had ever had. We've the American Kobe Sliders and Taste of JTK for appetizers which was scrumptious. For our entrees, my wife had the Petite Tenderloin Medallions and I had the America Kobe beef. The steaks was cooked perfectly, it was juicy and delicious. The Tenderloin was perfectly seasoned, tender, and succulent. The Kobe beef was savory and melted in my mouth. Overall, the experience through out the night was wonderful. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Looking forward to try JTK again.

This place is incredible. All of their food is the best of te best, cooked to perfection. Pricey, but if you re looking for a complete 5 course meal with exceptional service in the hay market of Lincoln, this is the place to be. Their drinks are all served up right to boot.

JTK is a good upscale restaurant. A very classy ambience and good service. If you like wine, they have a very large selection of good wines. It can run a bit pricey, but the food is very good. The date night menu is an amazing value. Shared appetizer, soup/salad, entrée, shared dessert, and a bottle of wine for $50! Keep in mind that the date night menu is a limited menu. There are several menu options that are no longer available that I wish they would bring back (seafood risotto and chocolate bread pudding).

Fine dining doesn't seem to do very well in Lincoln. I don't know if we can't support cosmopolitan tastes like bigger cities or what, but they're usually out of business quickly after complaints of not getting "enough" food for the money. My assumption is that we're used to quantity over quality. Thankfully, JTK has survived. It's one of Lincoln's nicer restaurants and the food is outstanding. I had the duck which was cooked perfectly, still juicy inside. My wife had a steak, cooked slightly more well-done than she prefers it, but still good. A bottle of wine between us, recommended perfectly by the staff. There were no leftovers. Why should there be? When did it become an assumption that restaurants should load us up with more than we can consume? Instead, we got our money's worth, not in quantity, but in quality. If you've never been there and want a nice, classy meal, give JTK a try.

This is possibly my favorite restaurant in Lincoln. I've only been a couple of times but the food has been really amazing every time. I have tried them for both lunch and dinner and was not disappointed for either meal. It is an expensive place though so you should be prepared to spend a little more. My husband and I went and got simple beverages, 2 entrees (peppercorn steak and fish), and one dessert (blueberry bread pudding - best bread pudding ever!) and the total with tip was about $75. They do have a date night special that's only $50 so that helps. The restaurant is always nice, clean, and with good ambience. I've never had a problem with my service.

We had our engagement dinner here 10yrs ago, but sadly this place has gone down hill. We have eaten there multiple times, but each time seems to be a little worse. The ambiance is great and the staff was very friendly, but the food was just sad. We were there for my wife's birthday, so I ordered a margarita to start and she got a screw driver (I know this is more of a wine place, but they have a drink menu and a full bar). I'm pretty sure they forgot the grande gala and my wife's screw driver was basically just vodka. Not a good start but I wrote it off to it being more of a wine place. Then the salad came, lots of lettuce, little dressing, meh. Then they brought the pre-dinner rolls (when I say rolls I mean 2 the size of silver dollars) and again, meh. Then came my Kobe beef burger. I was really looking forward to this. It was cooked perfectly, but had very little flavor (other than meat flavor) and seem to be more on the old meat side. I resorted to putting ketchup on it so I could have some flavor. The Parmesan fries were ok but were so seasoned that every bite required a drink of water. Initially we had planned on doing desert there, but wasn't going to risk wasting any more money. Overall, very underwhelming and won't being going back again.

Walking into this restaurant is like crossing over from the cold harsh world into a warm cozy womb. A reverse birth in an almost literal sense. Stark white table cloths and the flickering of candle light calm my nervous heart as the aroma of seared, delicious flesh fill my brain cavity of lust and wonderment as a slow building sexual tension builds up in my chest. Is it the anticipation of food? Or is it the slow gait of the asian server showing me to my table, his white shirt stuck to his quiet stoic body like waves over the siren mastheads of old ships. I'm vibrating as I sit, saccades blurring my vision, and the outreach of the warm leather booth engulfing me as I'm handed the menu. Did our fingers brush? As my eyes and digits scan the leather bound program of the night, I can barely contain the sheer ecstasy of the crisp taupe pages, line after line, like a list of my strangest and wildest dreams. Butternut squash risotto, straining underneath the mouth watering heft of a seared duck breast? My fingers tremble and dance down the page. Lamb shank specials, smothered and dripping with demi glace? The extravagance of American Kobe beef, criss crossed with marbling, ohhhh, I'll melt as you do - the Kobe beef is my spider on the web. I catch my reflection in the glasses of my server. Disarmed, I know I must hold onto my dignity, and I place my order, and I ask him to choose a wine as a pairing, and I accept my fate as I grip the cool condensation of my water glass. Lyrics run through my head: "You may ask yourself: well... how did I get here?" I tug at the collar of my sweater, suddenly it seems like this hole was patterned too small. And I know there is a ruddiness about my neck, and I hurry and drink my shiraz, to somehow give the temporal illusion of already drunkeness, for I've fallen prey to JTK and its wiles, I have already been slayed. I do not remember the rest of the night, but I do know that for the first time, and for the last, I've been more than myself, yet, I've also been utterly dwarfed. I won't tell you to go to JTK, I won't tell you not to either, but if you do cross that glamorous thresh hold, leave your body at the door, it'll only betray you.

5 stars as the BEST date night wine, meal, dessert combo for the price. We have gone numerous times for the date night. Each time I am more and more impressed. Only once have we been given bad service and I'm pretty sure that person is no longer there. Wine - We have never had a bad date night wine. We have had a different bottle each time and it always pairs nicely with our meal. Appetizers - I honestly can't remember which ones we have had but we have never been disappointed. Meals - Fish is always fresh tasting and the meat has been cooked as requested. The veggies are always delicious. Dessert - We weren't a fan of the creme brulee but the red velvet was outstanding! We will continue to go here for our dates!

JTK was an odd dining experience for me. The decor was lovely, and the location in an old train station added a unique feel to it even before you step foot in the restaurant. I would change the lighting over the bar, if I were designing the place, but that's a rather picky complaint. The atmosphere is easily one of, if not THE, most classically classy in Lincoln. The food was what I found so odd about the place. Others have declared JTK to be a great value, but I'm afraid I'd have to disagree. Nothing was bad, and the duck that I ordered was tasty, but somehow far from worth the price that we paid. Odd. Meanwhile, the risotto was DELICIOUS, but served VERY cold. Odd. The dip we ordered was flavorful and warm, but the bread that came with it was awful. Odd. In short, you should take my review with a grain of salt, as I can't myself figure out quite what to think about the place. It's FAR from a five, but WAY better than a three. I would definitely recommend it, but I'd never go back myself.

Tried JTK because of a livingsocial deal, it came with 2 entrees up to $25 and a $21 bottle of wine. Ambience = spectacular. The place screamed classy, romantic, and their wall of wines told you they emphasized fine wines. Food = could be better? I can't complain about the wine, of course it was good. However, I started off my meal with their two onion soup (basically a french onion). It came out luke warm, which I absolutely hate when food is supposed to be hot. Doesn't everyone expect their french onion soup to have cheese that is melted? So each spoonful contains that gooey goodness? Yea... disappointed with that one. For the entree I ordered their seared seabass with orzo. It was fine, but the fireworks were not shooting off in my mouth. I've had better seabass and the orzo was oh so ordinary. Service = waiter had a shockingly deep voice. He really should be working in radio, his voice was so nice. I asked him if he sings, but unfortunately not in public. He was attentive and very knowledgeable about the wines. Main gripe was the wait to be seated. Place appeared to be pretty empty at 9 pm on a Friday night, but it took them more than 10 minutes to seat us. Lasting impression = I would come back if I had another coupon just to see if their other dishes are better. Sadly, JTK didn't resonate with me the way I thought it would.

I just tried JTK for the first time this past Friday, and it was a very positive experience. I have to say, out of the other more upscale restaurants I've had in town (Dish, Venue etc) this one has been my favorite so far. I had purchased a $40 groupon for JTK, and was very excited to try them out. They have a Date Night menu that I've been meaning to try-$50 gets you an appetizer, two entrées, soup or salad, bread, a bottle of wine and a desert. This is what my boyfriend and I did, and it was fantastic. We had the pomme frites as an appetizer (basically fancy fries) that came with two very tasty dipping sauces. The fries were crisp and crusted with Parmesan, garlic and other herbs. Perfect touch of ingredients on a very ordinary appetizer. We were already off to a great start. For the main course I had Parmesan Crusted Tilapia on top of gnocchi with a tomato cream sauce. This was fantastic! The sauce was just right, not too over powering but very flavorful. The fish was cooked wonderfully and the parmesan and herbs were a great combo. I opted for the 3 onion soup which was a great take on a classic French Onion soup. My boyfriend had the Pork Tenderloin and risotto and the bit I had of it was very delicious. We were both very pleased with our entrées! We were too full to enjoy our desert so we took it to go, and it was fantastic as a midnight snack for later in the evening. Add to the food outstanding and knowledgeable staff, and a gorgeous interior. This place was a great dining experience from beginning to end. I would advise you to get a reservation! We got there early (5:30) and were lucky, but by the time we left there was an hour wait for a table.

A couple more meals here and I am settling on a 3-star review. Pros: 1. There is no better deal in town than the Date Night promotion. You can go ANY night of the week with your honey (even Friday or Saturday!) and get a four course meal with a bottle of wine for $50. 2. The restaurant is sophisticated enough to make for a special occasion, but you need not feel out of place in smart casual dress. 3. Last time we went, we were served complimentary port at the end of the meal. Given, it was not the best port I have ever had, but it made for a nice finishing touch. 4. Overall, service has been good. Cons: 1. It can be empty. Really empty. Tumbleweeds empty, even at prime time on a weekend. 2. The menu is kind off gimmicky: ex. "Kobe" should be Wagyu All in all, worth a shot if for nothing else than a good cheap date. Just go early so you are not the only ones there!

Great place for a romantic dinner. They have a great "date night" option, which will get you an appetizer, 2 entrees, a dessert, & a bottle of wine for $50. We didn't choose to order that much, but wow - that's a good deal! (Details here: jtkrestaurant.com/Events… ) I had the salmon and a glass of Riesling; my boyfriend had the ratatouille. We both really enjoyed our meals. I had a similar experience to "emily v" - we were the only ones in the restaurant for the first 20 minutes, and I felt a little "on stage". However, the tables filled up toward the end of our meal, and the service was fine. I liked the fireplace too - romantic! When I can afford those extra calories, I'm going back for their Date Night. See yummy JTK food photos here (found on Flickr): flickr.com/photos/mohrty…

I've eaten at JTK many times over the years. The quality of food is exceptional and there is no where else like it in Lincoln. Some compare it to Dish, but I think JTK is much more intimate with higher quality food. I usually have the same head waiter who is professional and knows regulars by name. I've had many good soups and enjoy their house salad. Some favorite entrees include the red snapper, halibut, scallops, and pasta with lobster. They have many good appetizers and desserts as well as a fairly extensive wine list. The bartender is also accommodating to special requests. Their date night special is a very good deal. They have had a Mother's Day Brunch a couple times over the years which is fantastic, definitely the best brunch in town. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions and any evening you would like quality food in a great dining atmosphere.

I'm not a Lincoln-ite myself, I am new to the area - just moved from Seattle and I spent months mourning the loss of fine dining (and I mean seriously - Dish can't begin to hold a sad flame to Seattle food). At any rate... I was regretting the move until my husband and I found JTK. He ordered the waygu beef, and I ordered the halibut - both were absolutely wonderful. It was by far the best steak I had ever had in my life... ever. The wine selection was fabulous, and the bartender was even willing to mix us a custom drink we requested. As if the food wasn't great enough, our waitor was wonderful. It was nice to have a server that wasn't some barely-helpful college kid just there to make a dime. Perhaps he was a little overzealous - but I appreciate his style. The other review is right - the pricetag is steep, but the food, atmosphere, and service is absolutely worth it. It is about time folks around here stopped having to drive to Omaha for a seriously good dining experience! Save the money on gas and spend it on your dinner. :)

Date Night is a fine deal, but it seems as though they're giving you what you paid for. $50 for an appetizer, entree, dessert & a bottle of wine. Appetizer was average, entree was slightly above, and dessert was pretty good. This was our 2nd trip to JTK, and much less exciting / satisfying than the first. We also made reservations 5 days in advance, which landed us a tiny table against the wall next to the kitchen, which was rather disappointing. Service was just average. We waited quite a while for our wine to arrive after ordering, and even asked the wait staff if it was on the way. Probably don't need to go back to JTK unless another groupon surfaces.

Listen people: overcooked kobe/wagyu steak. We ordered medium-rare, it came out medium-well. Seriously? In Nebraska? At a restaurant that hits you over the head with the fact that they're the only place in the state that serves kobe beef? For $55? That alone would have ruined the meal, but top it off with our waiter disappearing for 30 minutes at a time at important points, like when we're ready to order or right after the overcooked steak comes out and we'd like to send it back, and JTK turned out to be a big disappointment.

I have been here three times, each time worse than the first. After the first time was decent. My husband really enjoyed his starter and Kobe beef and my steak was ok, so we gave it another try. The second time my food was really just ok but the service was not so great considering that there were only three tables there. My husband loved it so we bought a Groupon. I think that this is the only time I have ever regretted buying a Groupon. The service was neglectful. The food was terrible. I hated my entree so much I took one or two bites and then sat with it in front of me for ten minutes! Our server never checked back and when she did it was to pick up our plates. I said how unhappy I was with the food, which by the way was over cooked and tasted awful, and she took the plate to talk to her manager. She came back offered a desert and said the manager had said that it was not over cooked! We refused the desert and she then disappeared again. Again as with previous visits we were almost the only people in the dining room and the manager did not even come to talk to me. I have no doubt that my complaint was not taken seriously because of the Groupon. The meal was hardly something we couldn't afford and this restaurant made me feel like I was trying to pull a fast one. In fact even though we had told the server about the Groupon when we were seated we did not even include it with our bill because we were pissed that it was assumed that we were trying to get something for a free. Just as an FYI I have never sent a meal back at a restaurant for any reason. That is how bad this was. I can't imagine this place is going to be around for long. It tries hard but has nothing to back it up with. Also seriously there date night menu has french fries on it. I know that this is the midwest but you cannot call yourself fine dining when you are so food cost conscious that you put out a prix fixe menu with pomme frites and custard for desert. No matter how well you do it a cheap $7.00 bottle of wine at the grocery store french fries is a joke. This place could have been awesome but instead it is a crock.

Simply best kobe beef in the USA. A nice place in the old train station, with outdoor sitting and good service.

JTK is another one of Lincoln's premier restaurants and I highly recommend it for a dinner meeting, a date, or for out of town guests. The prices are reasonable and the service was great. I've heard their Sunday brunch is to die for as well.

I have been here twice now and both times the food has been great. The atmosphere is not terribly exciting, but very good food, especially for Lincoln, NE. The service was good and they have a pretty good wine list (again for Lincoln). We had a group of 8 in there recently and everyone had a very good experience. I would recommend this place to anyone in Lincoln.

The duck was decent and my wife had salmon which she liked. I thought decor was a little bland and hotelish. It was a while back and I didnt realize they had outside sitting. I just checked out the menu online and they offering a date night through oct. I think maybe ill go back ad reevaluate.
