Beer selection- 4 stars Food- 2 1/2 stars Service-1 1/2 stars Prices- $15-20+ depending on the entree Not that friendly and very inattentive. No one in the place at 8:00 pm. Decor is going for modern which is nice but the staff way so busy scurrying around my friend and I sat at the bar and had to flag down people to get more beers and place our orders. The bartender was there too but didn't seem to notice us. Fish and chips batter tasted like salty celery and the cole slaw was really warm and drowning in dressing. Lackluster to say the least. Menu looks interesting but I fear the worst after how they desecrated the fish and chips. I'd never go back. Overpriced and reaching to be something they aren't. Too bad the initial impression when I arrived was very good. Nice decor and vibe.

Loved it! You think of a restaurant like this in Los Angeles, Miami or New York, Surprised to find such a cosmopolitan restaurant in Nebraska. The ambiance was Upscale, yet casual. The menu was amazing. Fun combinations to pick from. Deciding what to eat, took a while. The people at the table next to us were raving about the the buffet in the back of the restaurant but we stuck to the menu. I'm glad we did. I thought the food was excellent. The waitress was very pleasant. I wish I could remember her name to give her some credit. I thought the prices were good too. The bartender was able to make my Blue Hawaiian, which is my fun drink of choice. This was a great find, in the middle of the country. I would recommend this restaurant for an excellent meal.

Weird atmosphere. Looks like a nice place, but then there are a couple TV's on the walls which have ESPN and music videos on them. Wait staff wasn't helpful and acted annoyed most of the time. Prices were a little on the high side, but was excited when looking at the menu, as description looked like it might be worth it. I was disappointed, the concept was there, but the flavors didn't live up to the descriptions. Won't go back as too many other good options in the haymarket.

We were a group of six. Everyone got something different, and everyone either really liked or loved their entree. I ordered the Adobe ribeye, and the steak was perfectly rare as I ordered it. Usually my rare steak comes out medium-rare, even at "nice" restaurants. Great drink selection. The food is not what you'd expect given the atmosphere - it kind of has a sports bar look. We've been here several times. I don't think it gets the credit it deserves.

Very good place. Went here while visiting friends in Lincoln. Fun menu, cool signature cocktails, very good food. Decadent for sure. The Short Ribs were good and the French Dip was Amazing!!

Excellent food, great service, neat atmosphere! Love the cozy couches in the back and the newly changed menu! Try the turkey and brie sandwich!

This place was pretty underwhelming. The atmosphere is very eclectic and there are TV's throughout. The food was hit and miss. Definitely try the asparagus fries and salmon entree. The soups and side dishes weren't anything special. Service was slow and not up to par with other restaurants in this category.

This was the first time I've been to Brix & Stone and I'll certainly be back. The atmosphere is great. It's a particularly good place for a lunch meeting. The service was quick and friendly and the food was excellent. I ordered the chicken and waffles; unfortunately, the waffle machine wasn't working but our server went out of her way to make it right and offered an excellent second choice. It was customer service well beyond what I expected.

This was a nice little stop between Denver and Chicago. Pretty easy off I-80 at least at 8:30 pm. Wonderful, wonderful bread. Good ribs ok burger but the bun was dry. Very, very nice staff. Stop by!

Prices were ridiculous and the food wasn't that great. We ordered a bleu cheese nacho appetizer that was awful and spicy pasta dish and it wasn't spicy at all. The best thing about our visit was the service.

A VERY positive update on the food here: We returned after a couple of months for a Friday happy hour/dinner. Although the beer size issues persist, the menu and food has improved markedly. Food & Table Service: 4 stars Beer service: gives me pause (and costs them a star) Pros: 1. No more tots and frozen fries, instead my cod and chips came with truffled potatoes that were delicious! Others at our table had a great duck pizza, the shepherd's pie, and a mac and cheese. All said the food was great and it certainly appeared to be a great step in the gastropub direction, kudos! 2. Service was good and prompt, as it had been in the past. They graciously accommodated our larger party. Our food arrived in a timely manner even though the place was packed. Late arriving guests ordered and received appetizers quickly upon arrival. Cons: 1. The beer service remains an unfortunate mystery. Although served our first Stella in a pint glass (16oz), the second and third came in the 33cl Stella glass (just over 11 oz.). This is a net of 10oz of missing beer over the second two beers. Others at our table were seemingly randomly served other beers in the 'official' glass, then the pint, then back to the official glass as well. Consistency would be nice, especially given the large difference in the Stella pours. (Don't charge me the same price for an 11oz beer as a 16 oz beer.) One final note: With the new menu, they have done away with all sandwiches and burgers. We were told that they are still available at lunch. Sure, we all enjoyed our meals, but being forced into an entree seems a bit trite in a casual Lincoln place. Certainly not a reason to avoid the place, as there are several delicious options, but keep the cost in mind when planning a dinner.

Expensive place and the food does not live up to what you'd expect from those prices. Additionally, they overcharged my credit card so keep your receipts and check when the amounts are processed.

2nd time back & we received SLOW service at the host stand AND at our talbe on the patio. We ordered dessert which was 3.5 stars but the service here both times has been avg at best. They had live music in the bar area which salvaged the 3 star rating.

I am also going to have to agree with the 2.5 assessment of this place. I will round up to 3, because I am willing to go back and give it another shot. It didn't turn me off enough to dissuade me from going back, so we'll go with 3 stars for now. I have to admit, I got incredibly excited when I heard the news that someone was opening a Gastropub in Lincoln. I've always enjoyed my experiences at Gastropubs in other cities. The blend of unique, fresh, handmade food, along with wonderful ambiance and giant beer and cocktail selections always makes for an enjoyable dining experience. I wish this was the experience I had at Brix and Stone. I'll start with the positives. The space and atmosphere are gorgeous. I love what they've done to this building. It has a nice balance of fancy and relaxed. When I walked in I was eager to see what they had to offer in the way of beverages and food. I was disappointed. The beer and cocktail list was small and I was expecting to be wowed by many options. There's more beer to choose from at Yia Yia's or Jake's than this place that claims to be a Gastropub. The food was also disappointing. There was a big table of us (6), and all of us were underwhelmed by our food. I had a Stone Burger which was incredibly average. It was supposed to be topped with Guinness marinated onions and they seemed like regular caramelized onions. The burger patty was bland-no seasonings or anything to make it stand out. My tator tots tasted like frozen Ore-Ida tots as did the french fries that others at the table were eating. Gastropub food is supposed to be unique, handmade, and innovated. This food was pretty boring, and I feel like I could have gotten a more inspired meal at Lazlo's or Buzzard Billy's down the street. I was definitely intrigued by some of their appetizers and would be willing to go back and try a few of them. I'm hoping this place will take some of the criticisms I've heard to heart. It really has potential, and I hope within 6 months they can turn it around with more inspiring and unique cuisine.

This would be an instance where 1/2 stars would be useful. 2 seems low and 3 seems a tad high for my first experience at the new restaurant, or gastropub. If you like Blondie videos on a big screen and sports on every other TV coupled with what I would call English Pub fusion cuisine, then this is the place. Service was friendly and attentive. Booths and tables were cozy and private with partitions dividing them. The menu was diverse, with several vegetarian options, a few nice sounding salads then moving to the heavy stuff; bangers and mash, pot roast, a fancy sounding Chicago Dog called a Haute Dog, and what seems to be one of their signature naughty dishes Tots with toppings. I thought I would order something that may require some skill to prepare in order to see what they could do (knowing that I would be Yelping later). I ordered cornmeal breaded cod with pico. It was very average. Ceasar salad was...also average. Beer cheese soup pretty good. The sunflower bread that came complimentary was quite delicious though. I will try it again though. I will attempt the Peppered Ribeye or the Shroom Pizza or a naughty burger. Something more pub appropriate. Then we'll see if we can't bump these guys up to three stars. I am glad for another at least decent restaurant in Lincoln. Worth trying for sure.

Liked the food (beer cheese soup & Haystack sandwich were good). Atmosphere was nice - the "lounge" area in the back seems like a cool place to grab a drink with friends. Easy listening music videos on the big screens were a little weird. Service was below average (refills, etc. took a long time & 2 out of 4 were missing napkins). Average, reasonably clean restrooms. Love that it's across from a parking garage in a hard-to-park area - esp. on a bitterly cold night.

They have live music on the weekends! Wonderful. The band they imported from Omaha was really good. The singers voice was really strong and clear. I had a cheese board which was nice. I have also had the duck pizza with goat cheese. They really do serve large protions at this establishment. Worth it! The duck was tender not greasy or hard. After traveling for long long, it was VERY impressive that the staff remembered me BY NAME! The owner, Kay, has been there and was gracious enough to buy me a glass of wine. What a lovely host.

I will just kind of start from the beginning. When you first walk in it is remarkable what the owners turned the place into considering it was formerly Crabby Bills. The place looks amazing. It has a very modern look and a very comfortable atmosphere for a place that seems so upscale. The waitress we had was great. I wish I could remember her name but she was very helpful as it was our first time there. She was great with our little one and gave our group a lot of attention. I had the chicken and waffels and it was fantastic. I have seen the combination on the food channel a lot of times but have never had a chance to try it until now as I have never seen it on any other local menu. If you are in the area and have a little cash to spend, as it isn't the cheapest place to eat in the haymarket, give it a try! You will not be disappointed.

Stopped at Brix and Stone for lunch. It was our first time, though others in our party had been here before. 70 beer varieties, mostly in bottles, so a very good selection. The fish and chips were delicious, as was the burger. Others had the tomato pesto pizza and the mashed potato pizza. I have to admit that the potato pizza was a little unusual, but it was good nonetheless. I hadn't been to the building since it was Crabby Jacks, and I really like the changes - unique decor, very comfortable. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. A little pricey for lunch, but good food.

My first impression was great, the Haymarket atmosphere is terrific. I love being downtown on an evening. We then walked into the restaurant and opinions changed quickly. The brick wall is great. The decor tho is confusing. I don't think they are decorators, and it really threw off the atmosphere. On top of that the music was way too loud for a gastropub. The music selection was completely off the wall. We heard Akon's new rap hit followed by getting Rick Rolled. The service was mediocre. Our waitress was kind, but not very attentive. Now the part we are all waiting for. The FOOD. First menu thoughts...High prices. I'm not the one to complain about high prices as I enjoy a deliciously priced meal. Notice the word deliciously. The food looks okay but the options seem limited. Yeah, I've been to places with 8 items on the menu, but they are all paired NICELY with the sides. Food Taste! Well we ordered the Spinach and artichoke dip. The thing came in the Santa Maria. If you don't know it was the biggest of the pilgrimage boats. Holy cow...Thank you for the appet-meal? At $10 it is expensive. Instead of getting a super quality spinach dip, we got the Sam's club of dishes. I mean this could easily be the app for a family of 8. Needless to say we got through maybe 1/3rd just because it was there. The flavor was off, and it wasn't very creamy. It didn't have the broiled cooked top that really sets off the flavor. Entrees: Here goes...me...I ordered the Rosemary roasted chicken. My fiance ordered the chicken and waffles. I'll start with mine. It came on a plate half the size of the table. It was a giant plate, with about 3 helpings of potatoes, and 2 breasts. In each of the corners the veggies resided. I wish I would have checked to see if they were sauteed or what. Needless to say the veggies (Tomato, spinach, and mushrooms) were doused balsamic and I didn't even taste the veggie itself. I love me some veggies but this was so far off base. The chicken breasts were split breasts with skin on. Not a healthy option...oh well? Either way the plate was maybe meant to serve at least 3. I have a huge appetite and hate to leave meals unfinished. Here, I didn't have a chance. The chicken was tasty once you get through the rosemary doused skin. The flavor infused nicely and was good but getting there was difficult. They put the shrapnel from the pan on top which layered on the potatoes. Not a bad idea, but it was pure rosemary. I love rosemary when paired properly with other foods but it was too strong. I only got through 1 breast, a few bites of potatos and no veggies. The rest I took home to be split up into 2 more meals. The Chicken and Waffles. The fried chicken was okay. It was extremely crispy, to the point that it will cut your mouth by biting and chewing. That is always a turn off. Although no one wants soggy chicken (kfc anyone?). The waffle tho was top notch. I'd eat that for breakfast anytime paired with their whiskey syrup and strawberry butter. The strawberry butter tasted like it was artificial strawberry flavoring. I didn't ask, I really just wanted to pay and get out. Again TOO much FOOD. The place has a great location, high prices, and even bigger portions. The owners could really change the place around by getting someone to help tweak the flavors. It is almost there but the chef needs to taste his/her food before serving. Cut the prices down 1/3rd and cut the portions in half and they will start to have a successful business. Until I hear good reports on the food tho, I won't be back. Also we were 2 of 4 people in the restaurant. Shouldn't that have been our sign??

Since I am a Lincoln native I have been to Brix & Stone several times since it opened a couple of years ago. The food itself is really delicious but the service is horrible. My coworkers and I had to cross it off our list of possible lunch stops since there is no way to get in and out in an hour even though there aren't many other people there. Every time we've gone for dinner we've been stuck waiting for our food for long periods of time. I keep trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt but the service is too poor to ever go back.

Went in on a Sunday very empty maybe 5 tables. Our server was very slow and did not talk much. They messed up our daughters drink order. After ordering and waiting for approx. 45 minutes our waitress came out and said sorry for the wait the kitchen is backed up. I'm not sure how this happens with only 5 tables. The food was good not great. When it was time to pay they would not honor our gift card, they said because it was Sunday moms eat free therefore they could not honor our gift card. The manager then came out an argued with us at our table. We explained over and over that it was a GIFT CARD not a coupon. They would not honor. We stated we would not be back party of 4 and the manager said good I don't care. Not good business. Gave my gift card to a homeless man outside he can use it more than me and I will not be back. BAD BUSINESS

We felt fortunate to score an outdoor table on a beautiful Friday night without a reservation. Our good fortune didn't feel like it lasted very long. There was a guy walking around with a saxophone, and thanks to attached microphone, he nearly drowned out all possibility of a conversation. Everyone else in the place was screaming over him just to chat a little. The TVs placed everywhere were another distraction to conversation. They seemed understaffed. Our waiter was nice enough but wasn't very attentive or maybe he just couldn't keep up. He told us to yell at him across the patio if we needed anything... We had the asparagus fries. They were very tasty, and the dips were delicious, but the portion was gigantic. That justified the $12 price tag but no one really needs that much fried food as an appetizer. I had the black and bleu sirloin. It was properly rare and HUGE. My wife was also happy with her entree. But the blaring ambiance and poor service, paired with the higher-than-average prices, makes me wonder if we'll go back.

My girlfriend and I used to come to Brix and Stone every couple of weeks and we loved the food but recently they changed the menu and it seems like the quality of food has decreased greatly. The mashed potatoes seemed to be instant. I talked with someone that used to work their and he said that they fired one of the lead cooks and cooks that replaced him only had cooking experience from Brewsky's.

I was recently there with my wife and two friends. There was a lot to like--the Cuban sandwich I had was good, and I like the comfortable seating section--but, as others have pointed out here, for a Gastropub the beer selection is not really worthy. But rather than belaboring this point I simply want to point out one issue I find a bit disturbing--namely what I take to be false advertising. In the draught section of the beer list they claim that one can choose between 16oz and wristbenders (apparently 25oz, though it doesn't say this on the menu). Yet, when you purchase a Stella it comes merely in a 12oz glass. The price, however, is as advertised: $4. There is no way of knowing in advance that when ordering the "small" Stella one doesn't get the 16oz but merely the 12oz. This seems totally unnecessary and, frankly, is flat out misleading. A simple statement next to the Stella entry on the beer list could mark this one as an exception to what the menu claims is otherwise the rule (16oz/25oz). When we brought this to the attention to the serve we had the sense we might not have been the first ones to notice this. Either way, this seems a problem that should not be difficult to fix. Otherwise, we had a good time & I'm sure I'll go back. (It would help, however, if you guys played better music. The 80s video loop is a bit grating after a while, esp. if within 4 hours the same songs come up twice... ;)...

Writing as a frequent traveler living in Chicago, just to add perspective. After the place recommended to me by Yelp was closed when I got off work, I headed downtown to find some food. Of course the light rain turned into a downpour a minute after I got out of my car. I ran in here to escape the weather. Took a seat at the bar. The waitstaff was pleasant but not overly friendly. I got a vodka martini, which I must say was made perfectly. I got a soup and salad combo as well as the Blue chips. The soup I ordered was French Onion, probably the worst French Onion soup I have ever had, the cheese was barely melted on top and it was mostly Worcester sauce. I got the Pub salad as well. Overall the salad was very good, fresh with variety. The Blue Chips were decent and plentiful although the cheese could have been melted just a little longer. The atmosphere of this place is a little odd. The word 'Gastropub' is literally plastered all over the walls. If you are a Gastropub then show it with your food and beer, if you need to remind people that you are something then it's often a little forced. The other weird thing is that they place music videos on the TVs, but not any new or recent ones - I got a sampling from the early 2000s as well as the 80s. A lot of one hit wonders and songs that make you think 'Man I haven't heard this song in years.'

Food is awesome here. I like the Hawaiian pizza or brick pasta. So savory. Atmosphere is awkward but I don't care because the food is great! Only think I would adjust is prices, little bit on the high side.

Did not live up to expectations....calamari was awful....replaced with won ton app....that one was good. Entrees were ok except $21 ribeye was smothered in barbeque sauce....bruschetta wild salmon dish made no sense but was ok. Overall it seems as if they are more concerned with justifying the over priced food than the actual flavor...HUGE plates...hard to deal with on table...lots of unnecessary sauces and plating acrobatics. Server said plates weigh 8 pounds each....tipped extra for that.

Came here on a Monday evening and while the crowd was sparse, we got great service! Started with the potstickers, very good. We both got cocktails, mine came in a giant mason jar. It was a fun addition to a delicious drink. My dining companion got the Southern Lemonade and I the Brix Tea. I had the chicken and waffles and she got the volcano chicken. Her chicken was awesome and the stuffed pepper was filled with cheesy goodness. I enjoyed my waffles, the chicken was pretty average fried chicken. The strawberry butter is really good, took it home and will put it on toast in addition to my leftovers. Oh year, you get 3 pieces of chicken! Prices were average to a bit high. We ended with the apple tart and it was very good, but I'm looking forward to trying the donuts on my next visit!

I ate there for the first time on saturday. I had high hopes. I thought the beer selection was good but the food was terrible. Very overpriced and poorly prepared. We had ordered a pizza for an appetizer and there was way too much pesto sauce and way too much balsamic. Even with a strong beer it was over powering. I ordered the chicken and waffles and the waffles were ok, not really any better than Ihop. The chicken came and it was two tiny thighs and one leg. None of the chicken was juicy. The chicken was bland and there was a batter that was hard, salty and thick. My husband ordered the fish and it was terrible. It was very tough. I have never had tough fish until then. The green onion tartar sauce was awesome though Overall, It was pretentious and I will not return, total meal with appetizer and drinks cost around $50. I would have been better off taking my money and going anywhere else. Oh and I thought the place looked nice but there are 80's videos playing on all the screens which is weird since they dont play the music. It was like I was eating at some creepy persons house. The waitress we had come by like 3 times in five minutes while we were looking over the drink menu but when it came time to order she must have been on break because we didnt see her for about 20 minutes.

Mediocre. Been here a couple of times and have never really been blown away with the food. Big fan of the atmosphere though. Very swanky inside. The last time I was there the server had to come back to ask me my order (if you can't remember...write it down) and then the order came out wrong. I'm doubting I'll come back because I want to...but more because I'm meeting someone there.

Great food. I have no clue what these other reviews are complaining about! The beer cheese soup was the best I've ever had. The club sandwich was fresh, packed with meat. The marble rye bread was fresh as well, but the aioli was incredible! Apparently this place went through several menus and chefs before getting to their food perfect . But now, it's right where it needs to be.

Dined here on the recommendation of a coworker and this place did not disappoint. Sara at the bar was friendly and recommended the best Reuben I have ever eaten. They make everything in house, including curing their own corned beef. You can't beat that. I upped my side to the Alley fries (cheese, bacon, and a vinegarette sauce, enough said). Place was quiet, but good for a night out with friends or a nice spot for a date. I'll definitely swing through on my next business trip.

We stopped in here last weekend for a late lunch. While we were seated quickly I should probably mention we were eating at like 2pm. The server was very friendly and got our order right away. The ambiance is really fun. The decoration and style of the place gave it a neat feel and it was very spacious and low lit inside. They also have a little outdoor patio for good weather days. Their gluten free menu was good. Several appetizers and a few entrees. I was immediately intrigued by the cornmeal calamari but unfortunately they were out of cornmeal. I ordered the potato chip and blue cheese appetizer which was pretty good, homemade potato chips and blue cheese sprinkled on top. My friend had the Thai chicken salad and it was huge! She loved it. My Gouda and ham stuffed chicken was very rich, but tasty. The portions are large which helps make up for the food being a tad on the pricey side. I bought the appetizer and along with my entree it was around 35. I couldn't stop thinking about the calamari which I've been without since I went gluten free.. Soo I stopped in and ordered to go later that week. The server taking my order was extremely friendly and they had the food hot and ready in two mins. It was not bad but not great, a bit pricey for an appetizer-16.00, but a good portion size. A little greasy and I wanted for a bit more seasoning to the breading and more spice to the remoulade. So overall the atmosphere, gf friendly menu, and service have been 5 star, food taste and price 3-4. I'd go again but I haven't had anything I love there yet.. So not a future obsession

Had high hopes for this place. Firstly, the decor is dated and cheap looking (zebra print seats are awful). It looked like the owner skipped out on hiring a decorator and used Target to get all her decor. The restaurant was almost completely empty but still my food (steak) was unseasoned and cold by the time it got to me. My mom ordered a chicken pasta dish that had HUGE chunks of barely cooked purple onion slices in them, it was really unappetizing. Lastly, the owner, I'm assuming, was sitting at the bar on her computer during the dinner service. She has an office, I know because her door was open to the restaurant, and she should be doing paperwork in there and not where everyone can see her. The service was really good, our waitress was super sweet and helpful! She even took off a soup that we sent back without us asking her to.

Yea this place was the bomb.com Visiting from California for work and I had a $30 budget to work with. I sat at the bar, Sarah was great! Got a beer and the Steak N Wedge. Typical wedges are only one wedge. I got two wedges and a flatiron steak. It was a huge portion. And I ate it all. :-) I ordered the house Hefe. It was smooth and great. My check came out to $20, seriously inexpensive for all the food I got. I will definitely go back when I am in town!

I have been staying at hotel in lincoln so you can imagine its been alot of fast food and junk food. (I usually cook at home) I wandered down to the haymarket and saw this place and thought eh why not. WOW this place was awesome! The decor' the music, our server....everything was great....I thought well the food must suck there has to be something wrong with this place....Nope the food was awesome what i got and what my partner got both excellent.....A place that cooks the pasta when you order it? no that doesnt happen anywhere.. Well it does here, you can tell fresh ingredients with a skilled chef. Nothing on their menu is some crazy dish all just simple good stuff that tastes awesome...I will go back over and over as long as im here.

We were excited to try this place. We waited at the front to be seated for a few minutes, the place looked completely empty. Finally someone came up to seat us. All seemed good at first, ordered our food and then waited...and waited....and waited. Despite no one else appearing to be there and being prime dinner time it still took 45-50 minutes to get our food. Then the food was not great. My husband order the chicken and waffles. The waffles were burned, dry and cold. I ordered the Brix pasta which looked unappealing upon its arrival, and held up to its presentation. The pasta was over cooked and just tasted subpair. Very disappointing to say the least. Will never go back.

If you are going to call yourself a gastropub, you need to get both parts right-beer and innovative food. So I was disappointed with how much this place missed the mark with its beer. 1.Tap selection was very underwhelming-Bud Light, Stella, Guinness, and a few actual micros-but even then it was a Hefe, a brown and a couple more. Whoopee. 2. It's called an India Pale Ale, not "Indian". It's not that hard to get this stuff right 3. The beer fridge was horribly under stocked at 6 PM on a week night-looked very sloppy 4. If someone orders an 8% Belgian Ale, don't ask them if they want a glass, they do. My food was pretty good, but way overpriced. And it's adobo sauce, not "adobe". Not sure what was up with the music videos playing, not really fitting with the atmosphere. Just poorly executed on a number of levels.

I wandered in there late one night. Had the volcano chicken. AMAZING! Will definitely go there again!

Brix & Stone offered a very pleasant experience after finding that Rodizio doesn't offer lunch Mon.-Wed. I ordered the artichoke dip followed by the 1/2 Hawaiian pizza and tomato basil soup. Everything tasted excellent and our server was very friendly--not sure of her name but she is tall and has red-dyed hair. Would definitely like to return the next time I'm in Lincoln.

My food was great although I received a well done burger versus a medium that I ordered. Everyone in our group enjoyed there food however the staff seemed confused. A plate of food was dropped off at our table (the volcano chicken I believe) which was ordered by someone in our group. Two minutes later a staff member comes by and says that food was for a different table and took the food back. Not sure where it ended up, hopefully not on another table. All in all good food.

Pretty good food, but, YIKES! EXPENSIVE! Lunch for 4 (yes, lunch) no appetizers, no alcohol, cost $73, WHOA! Not worth it!

Let me tell you something about this place before I even talk about the food. They play music videos on t.v.s for your viewing pleasure. Yeah. This is not a good idea on having an edge on an average restaurant, it really made me not care for the atmosphere. Could be because I cannot stand Bruce Springsteen, you know, the "Boss" I detest him. And yet through my 2 hour lunch/ book club meeting I endured not one, not two, but THREE Bruce Springsteen videos. Among repeats of solo Don Henley videos as well. Ugh, it got a little painful. Please Brix & Stone, try XM or something, I don't think I will return for the sheer sake of not wanting to see 'Born in the USA' while consuming food...... Shorty Short rib pizza was good. Not made on homemade dough, it would have been a lot better if it had been. All together it was a very decadent pizza, could only eat a little with the richness of all the creamy cheese and meat. It was tasty though. Most of the the others in my group ordered a steak, they all had good things to say. Drinks were very weak, a few had bloody mary's and said they couldn't taste any alcohol, a few had mimosas. Although they were convinced it was oj in a champagne flute. Prices were high for a lunch spot in my opinion. I would give this place 2.5. All and all it was better than average food but the atmosphere was like an office waiting room. Oh, and servers dropped drinks on 2 occasions while I was here....I know accidents happen but this was an odd coincidence. "You can't start a fire without a spark....." This place needs something, just not "The Boss"

Great atmosphere, Haymarket location, varied menu, outstanding service, and delicious food. I will be back!

I agree with the above statements. In a state known for beef and a place self described as gastropub we had great expectations. Yet the steak was terrible, tenderized chemically, without flavor and served after having been under a heat lamp.

Seriously... I don't know what they are thinking. They have raised prices again. Now a can of Guinness costs $7 and a pint of Stella Artois is $6. I don't know anywhere else in Lincoln where you'd pay that much for beer. Their house wine was also $6, which is probably how much the bottle costs. I still don't think the beer selection is very good. Very few Nebraska pints and nothing special that you can't get somewhere else. It seems to me that a gastropub should focus on small batch and specialty beer, not overpriced macro-brews like Guinness and Bud Light. The good news is that the food is improved. That said, I'd rather eat smaller portions at a more affordable price.

I so wanted to like this place! Although we live in Colorado, we make frequent trips to Lincoln and we're always on the lookout for good food. Upon walking in, we were impressed with the surroundings and convenient Haymarket location. The decor is casual, yet modern and trendy. Oddly, there were music videos playing on several flatscreens and even a large projection screen--not sure why, but it didn't seem conducive to the atmosphere. Although they weren't busy, we waited a few minutes for someone to greet us. After we were seated, the service continued to be quite slow...again, very odd considering the lack of patrons. The menu offered an interesting variety of choices and we tried the Bleu Chips for an appetizer. This slices of potato covered with blue cheese sauce and crumbles. Not bad for starters. Next we ordered the Fish n' Chips and the Hawaiian pizza. By Lincoln standards, the prices are a little high for lunch ($16-$25) so we were expecting something beyond the ordinary. While the fish n' chips were good (mahi mahi), the portions were small and the fries and cole slaw were anything but special. The pizza looked good, but it had the worst tasting crust we've ever experienced. It seemed as though a healthy dose of salt had been added to the crust making it nearly inedible. After a few bites, we alerted the waitress who returned it to the kitchen. We were then informed both the chef and manager said it was fine. Hmmm...if that's the norm, we need to look elsewhere. All in all, the service was below average and the food, sadly, was lacking. Will we give it another try? Probably not, although it looks the part, Brix and Stone doesn't cut the mustard.

Great space with high ceilings and original brick walls. It's a gastropub, as they say, so there are unique twists on even familiar sounding dishes making for intriging eating. Draft beer selection didn't sound extensive, but what they had was different and local. Blue Burger and house fries delivered as promised.

Was nervous after seeing the other reviews but was going to the Haymarket Theatre so gave it a try. Great beer menu - even a yummy framboise - quick service, the bartender Sarah was fabulous, good appetizer - a little expensive but not out of line for the haymarket and it was good sized - and everyone was really friendly. Maybe the bar is better than the dining room because I have nothing but positives for the bar. And you've got to try the warm wheat bread!
