Consistently yummy combined with helpful, knowledgeable friendly staff. A definite favorite for this yelper. If you don't like what Bahnwich has to offer, its quite possible you don't enjoy good food, or perhaps you're just *that guy*. Don't be *that guy* Bahnwich's approach to food is very fresh - there is flavor and zest and a lightness to their food that makes my taste buds do a happy dance. Also, their boba teas are awesome. Especially their mango with rainbow jelly.

Great Bahn-Mi. Greater Vietnamese Waffles. But...the bubble tea! Everything is fresh, no powder! It is hard enough to find that on the east coast. When I go back home to Lincoln, I hit this place up at least every other day. Very good and friendly service.

Cute, little trendy sandwich spot! As a frequent traveler I was driving around Lincoln trying to figure out what to eat and their vibrant yellow sign at the corner of a plaza caught my eye. What was even better I was itching for some banh mi sandwich and it was just my luck! I got the bbq thit nuong with fried egg. It was definitely flavorful and a great deal. I only wished the egg was more yolky but overall I was still satisfied. i definitely can see myself coming back for more goodness when I travel through.

I was traveling through Nebraska on a road trip with my band and we took a detour to go to dinner at Banhwich. What an amazing surprise! Delicious food, inexpensive prices, nice portions, and a very friendly staff of employees. Banhwich has become a "must stop" destination for our midwest tours!

This was my first time having a bahn mi and I loved it. I had the # 3 grilled pork bahn mi. If you really don't like fatty pieces I recommend getting a chicken bahn mi. If you aren't use to spicy remember that most sandwiches have jalapeño in them which can easily be taken out. The bahn mi has a nice crunch from the vegetables, especially the carrots. The bread had a nice grilled crust. It had a freshness from the cilantro. The pork was well seasoned, but had a few fatty pieces. I also had a green waffle which to me tasted like a funnel cake because it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the outside plus it had powdered sugar. For a drink I had the coffee bubble tea. If you like coffee smoothies you will really like this one. I had never had one so drinking with the pearls kind of shocked me at first. The pearls were like little circular coffee jellies. Overall, I recommend this place for someone wanting to try something new.

Fresh and delicious banh mi! The menu isn't wide in terms of types of dishes (it is basically banh mi and bubble tea or else; go next door to the pho place if that's what you were looking for), but they have a very wide variety of banh mi to choose from, with both vietnamese and Korean fillings (like beef bulgogi, etc). The bread was extremely fresh, and the sandwich filling (I had the massaman curry tofu) was perfectly flavored and proportioned to the size of the bread roll. The bubble tea is also available in a wide variety of flavors, and you can even mix multiple flavors for no extra fee. Also, the kimchi was excellent. I'd highly recommend this place!

Went here for lunch today with coworkers and enjoyed it very much! I got 17, the Masiman Curry banwich with chicken, it was juicy and very flavorful. The fresh avocado was a perfect match! Apart from the food, prices were also amazing at $4.50 a banwich its tough to beat! I did not try the bubble tea but assume its full of the gelatinous beads everyone seems to think is amazing, just not my thing.

Their sandwiches are awesome! I would totally recommend a friend. Can't wait to be back and try other selections.

This is, hands down, my favorite restaraunt (so far) in Lincoln. The service was friendly and fast and the food was fresh, healthy and tasty. I will definitely be back tomorrow for breakfast at 10...

This was one of those bittersweet road trip meals. The charming little joint where you get EXACTLY the food you are craving, and it's amazing, but it is six hours from your house and you feel melancholy even while you're chewing because you know you will crave this in a week's time or less. I love Banhwich Café. I truly do. The staff was charming and cool. The food was affordable and amazing. We started with a squid salad and it was so cheap but far exceeded my expectations as it tasted exactly like the squid salad I get from a top notch sushi restaurant in my area. My husband raved about his vegetarian banh mi. I had the cold cuts/pate version which in my mind IS banh mi, and I loved the combination of fresh and wonderful flavors including plenty of cilantro. Our nearby Vietnamese restaurant changed hands and quit offering banh mi so this place was a must stop on our trip to Lincoln and I'm so glad we didn't let Lincoln's other abundant restaurants deter us from this place! Their boba tea was absolutely perfect - I had the lychee and it was fabulous but I also loved my husband's taro (which as always tastes like a wonderful cake to me). We had standard tapioca pearls in ours but they do have flavors (kiwi, strawberry, and possibly others). My only warning is this place is seriously tiny, so if you plan to eat in (or with a group of more than four) be prepared to make other plans in case they are busy.

This place is a treat! I went here for lunch one time and had some kind of beefy sandwich. I remember being most impressed with the fresh veggies and the yummy bits of cilantro. The flavors all together were different but a great mix! My husband, who is very picky, also enjoyed it. The bubble tea was yummy but I'm not really into those little tapioca balls popping into my mouth. Grosses me out. I thought the prices were kind of high and the smell, eh. The decor was modern, hip. I'd go here again!

I stopped in to this wonderful place last night and picked up a Banhwich for dinner. I chose the Spicy Thai Cilantro Shredded Chicken Banhwich and was not disappointed. It was amazing! If you don't like spicy, choose something else! I can't wait to go back and try all of the other menu items. The young man who took my order was friendly and helpful. The prices were very reasonable for such a great meal. The restaurant was very clean and had nice seating both indoors and outside.

I loved this place. I have a lot of favorites on 27th street in Lincoln, but this might be my new favorite. I had the chicken and beef sandwich, squid salad, and an iced coffee. Everything was really, really tasty. Crisp fresh veggies; delicious Vietnamese BBQ; chewy soft bread (that I suspect is made in house). The bit of cilantro really tops it off. Candidate for my favorite sandwich in Lincoln. The squid salad was short on squid but the marinade with the cucumbers. Iced coffee was very good as well. Came with cream and sugar already in it though. If I had more room, I wanted to try the waffle. Loved the food, atmosphere and feel of the restaurant. I'm actually surprised this is their only location. Appears to be very professionally done. I will definitely be back.

I probably go to Banhwich at least once or twice a week. It's soo good. I like to try the different specials they have, but also definitely have my favorite 'go to' banhwiches! You can't go wrong with the #1 Grilled Beef (Bo Nuong), #2 Thai Spicy Shredded Chicken (Ga Thai), #2 Gilled Pork (Thit Nuong), #5 Korean Bulgogi (Bo Dai Han), or the #16 Korean Bbq with Kim Chee. I usually also like to get a side of squid salad, maybe a hot tea and if I'm really feeling decadent... some cream puffs. I just recently tried a Vietnamese Green Waffle (banh bo)... and it was sooo delicious! My boyfriend and I got one to and try... and ended up almost scrapping for it! :] I have to get one every time now! And of course, I couldn't end my review without telling you about the extensive options for bubble tea... there are many great flavors. My recommendations would be the thai iced tea flavor, but that's probably because I'm a sucker for thai iced teas!

  • Krisha B.

This place is great, I like the chicken and pork. My only recommendation is to take small bites because the bread can scratch the roof of your mouth. It's not easy because the sandwiches are so delicious!

  • Mark A.

Unusual flavors, but absolutely delicious. Clean place, great staff- very helpful. Don't be afraid of the bubble tea- it is weird but delicious. Think of a thin smoothie with some slightly chewy bubble things. About my only two dings are that the sandwiches are kind of small (but they offer a value deal with two sandwiches and a drink), and I REALLY wanted some sort of side- maybe like a cole slaw variant or some interesting chips (I saw jalepeno chips, but that did not sound right.) I'd go there a lot if they had a closer store!

  • Teema C.

Sandwiches are pretty good, nice prices, fast service, fresh veggies. I would go back for that if I'm in the area. I did not however enjoy the bubble tea - I'm comparing to most places on the east coast - this place does not compare.

  • Lexi M.

This is a fun place to go and I often take friends when in Lincoln. First, their bubble tea is pretty decent. It's more like a smoothie, very thick and with several boba options. They're really great on a hot day. The food itself is tasty. I've never found it to be overly spicy (although I accidentally bit into one of the garnishes and it took several cups of water to take the burn away) and customer service is always very good. Their desserts are wonderfully tempting to compliment a great meal. All of their food is fresh and seems to be made with quality ingredients. The decor is inviting giving the place a friendly feel. Also, outside seating is available for warm summer days. Sometimes people will mention they've never had Vietnamese food or are afraid it is too spicy. Banwhich Cafe is a very fun environment with delicious food even for a more pickier palate. I will certainly continue to take friends and I am sure we will continue to have good times!

Best place in lincoln for bubble tea!! I wish they had one of the south part of lincoln. The sandwiches are great, they have green tea waffles they are wonderful and the bubble tea is made with natural fruit. Service is wonderful if it's something you don't like they'll replace it. Wonderful and friendly place! Would recommend for anyone! Very healthy! Thanks Banhwich for the wonderful service!

  • Rebecca T.

After getting started on my sandwich I told my brother all other sandwich shops were ruined for me. Amazing flavors, happiness in a bun. I had a coffee-type bubble tea and it was really good. Bubble tea throws me for a bit of a loop ("I thought I was thirsty and here I am chewing again! Odd!") but I enjoyed the drink nonetheless. After reading Yelp reviews I ordered a green waffle. And now I can't stop thinking about every aspect of my delicious lunch. Parents, beware. Your kids might not enjoy the lunch nearly as much as you do. Leave them at home--we wish we did. ;)

Got done with work a bit earlier than usual today and decided to try something new in the Lincoln area. Found this place in a vietnamese themed strip mall so you know the food is going to be authentic. Went inside and was pleasantly surprised by the modern decor. Looked through the menu quickly and decided upon the #3 Grilled pork Bahn Mi with a strawberry bubble tea. Both items were outstanding. The sandwiche was nice and warm in a flaky bun. The pork was seasoned well and paired nicely with the pickled vegetable. A little sriracha on the side gave it just a touch of heat. My friend had the Thai chicken and Lemongrass beef Bahn Mi and agreed we made the right restaurant selection. I was also surprised when I saw them making my bubble tea, he was using real strawberries. It was a treat since everyone nowadays use flavored powder to make their bubble tea. Overall 4/5 and would definitely visit again.

Love these sandwiches! The teriyaki chicken is my favourite. I can't handle much spiciness through, otherwise I'm sure I'd love their other sandwiches too. I usually get just the sandwich and a Vietnamese waffle(Amazing! Would definitely recommend you try this as well!) and its more than enough food for around $5.

  • Matthew A.

We didn't try the bubble tea, but the sandwhiches were really tasty, healthy, and cheap. I had to buy two to get full, though.

Great sandwiches! Very crisp, flavorful, and affordable. Many sandwiches are under 4 dollars. They also have great bubble tea.

This is by far the best restaurant in Lincoln! After trying all the other top places in Lincoln, this place has come on top every time! The bread is perfectly crispy, the meat is perfectly seasoned, but the green waffle is absolutely to die for!

Best Banh Mi Sandiwiches in Nebraska! If you are a banh mi sandwich fan, this is a must try. They have a wonderful selection, you can't go wrong. I've had the Bugolgi and Korean BBQ sandwich which are both fabulous choices. Whenever I am in Lincoln, I make it a point to stop by and pick up a few sandwiches. Please consider opening one in Omaha.

I really enjoyed eating at Bahnwich Cafe. There is both huge value and flavors in this place. I tried 3 sandwiches: A shredded thai chicken, a Bulgogi sandwich, and a Chinese pork sandwich. All three had incredible flavor and were unique in their own way. The shredded Thai chicken was spicy and well seasoned. It was a little sweet as well, which was nice. The bulgogi was very good as well. I didn't get a chance to try the Korean BBQ sandwich but it sounded great (I'll get it next time). My favorite was the Chinese pork sandwich (google 'Char Siu' to see what it looks like). Although the pork was just a little bit dry, the pork was awesome and went great with the toppings. I really enjoyed the toppings as well. The cilantro is nice and the carrots add a really nice texture for some of the softer sandwiches (such as the bulgogi and the shredded chicken). The bread was crispy and fresh. Each sandwich was about $3.75-$4 on average. All in all, this place is great for value and I will definitely go back.

Excellent cheap sandwiches (the Beef and Chicken combo is delicious as well as the Curry Chicken). If the kimchi side was larger I would have given them 5 stars. Great patient staff.

Great for lunch. Fresh food, not too expensive. Kind of small so there sometimes is a line, or few places to sit. Worth it every time I've been here.

Stopped here on the way home from the road trip from California to Iowa. You wouldn't think Lincoln is known for Vietnamese food, but this place beats all expectations. The vegetarian selection is brilliant. We had the mushroom and vegetarian sandwiches and added kimchi to both. We asked for the sandwiches to be extra spicy, and got yummy sliced serrano peppers put on them. Delicious! We washed it all down with a taro root boba, and as someone who doesn't like the tapioca balls in these things, Banhwich Cafe changed my outlook.

  • Jeremy L.

Stopped in after a long drive cross country, and was not disappointed. I got the bulgogi and Chinese BBQ pork. Veggies were fresh, bread soft, and the meat to topping ratio was perfect. The food tastes great, but I wish it had some delicious sides to choose from besides bagged chips.

Banhwich Cafe is delicious. It has everything it takes to make a great restaurant: cleanliness, great food, unique drinks, well trained staff, and a good atmosphere. The sandwiches are both cost effective and filling and there are many options, even for vegetarians! The bubble teas are incredible as are the waffles. I cannot say enough good things about the times that I have been to Banhwich. This Lincoln original is here to stay!

Banhwich is a real hidden gem in Lincoln. It's a nice little cafe to grab a quick, inexpensive bite. The staff is super friendly and the menu is very diverse. The green tea waffles are a delight!

  • Amy M.

This place is amazing. Their banh mi sandwiches are all excellent - I've tried a few flavors. I think the beef is exceptional, especially the Korean BBQ sandwich that includes kimchi. The toppings are always fresh and crispy, and the sauces are flavorful. I love that they put enough sauce on them! The bread is crispy, light and chewy. I love that they use real ingredients for their bubble teas. Fresh mango, avocado, etc. Prices are great for the portion sizes. And you must try the green waffles! Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. The flavor reminds me of a warm, fluffy and crispy fortune cookie. Service is always fast, the employees are friendly, and the restaurant is very clean.

This is by far the best place for banhwiches in Lincoln!! They have a great selection and we have NEVER had anything that wasn't awesome. They are friendly and pretty speedy too. Their Vietnamese waffles are the best! They are so good that they sometimes run out, though. It has nice outdoor seating as well. Can't go wrong if you're in the mood for a banhwich!

Haven't tried the actual food yet, but I will. Soon. I promise. My girlfriend was going the drive-thru in McDonald's, but I wasn't hungry. However, I noticed this place right across the street, and when I saw they had bubble tea (which I haven't had in months), I had to jump out the car. With tax, their bubble teas are like 4 bucks, an alright size but slightly skimpy on the bobas. But it was really good, and I didn't even have to share, cuz my girlfriend was very not impressed with my description of it XD Their food menu looked very appetizing, and reasonably priced, so I'll have to come down and get something next week.

Great alternative to the normal chain fast food. The sandwiches are fresh and flavorful with fabulous bread. They always run a "special" or two, so it's fun to try something different. If you've never tried Bubble Tea, this is a must. They have a selection of flavors with lots of "bubbles". The decor is fun and there's outside seating. Great for lunch and dinner. No alcohol available and only canned or bottled soft drinks. They also provide a "punch" card for a free sandwich after buying 9. Prices reasonable and friendly servers.

Man, Lincoln has some gems in this area of town. I ate at Banhwich Cafe for the first time today, and it was just excellent. Having never been there, I asked the cashier for a recommendation and he confidently suggested the #5 (bulgogi). I took him up on the suggestion and was not disappointed. The baguette style bread was flaky and crispy on the outside but soft & chewy underneath. The fresh veggies and greens were cool and crisp and wonderful. The thinly sliced meat was juicy with excellent flavor and a pleasing fat content. Not stringy and gross, but savory. I paired it with a cool mango bubble tea. I found myself satisfied and contemplating my next available lunch date that would provide opportunity to return. You've got to give this place a try!

  • Matt H.

The Korean Bulgogi is amazing as is the Chinese BBQ Pork. It's a great, quick lunch and if you're up for it, the bubble tea is a great post-Bahn Mi snack.

  • Darleen V.

Grabbed a bahn mi for a quick afternoon snack. Husband had a few cream puffs while we where there. Bahn mi was pretty good. Different that most authentic places I've tried. I'm not sure but I think they use soy sauce and/or fish sauce whereas I think most places use just fish sauce. I tried the traditional but next time I'll try a Korean bahn mi fusion. Cream puffs were good, could easily eat two orders in a sitting.

  • Laura G.

I've only been here once, but the food was delicious. The staff was very friendly since and helpful. I had my first experience with bubble tea here, and it was fantastic! I had never tried Vietnamese food before, and I'm glad I found this place. I only wish that I was still living in Lincoln so that I could visit again!

From California here, and as a fellow Asian I've had my share of very good boba and very horrible boba. This place has some on the very good side. For the price and customer service, very much worth your time and money. Go support local businesses! Will be back soon for sure!

  • Charles D.

I've come back several times and the food is consistently great. Favorite is Korean bbq with kim chi. Don't forget the peppers- if you don't like it hot, ask for them on the side. Green waffles and Thai iced tea boba are favorite additions. Haven't tried yogurt but I assume it's great. Fast and friendly service.

  • Gabby A.

This place was solid, but I was expecting more of a wow factor after reading all the 4 and 5 star reviews. Maybe I set the bar a bit high or maybe I didn't order the right thing. Atmosphere is nice, clean and bright. It seems a little chain-ish. The guys working were incredibly friendly and eager to explain to us what a banh mi is. Even though I'm very aware (and very in love with banh mi) I let them give me the spiel without interrupting. They were genuinely excited to tell us all about it, which is a great thing. I got the Chinese BBQ Pork and the gent got the Grilled Pork. My sandwich was pretty meh in comparison to other banh mi I've had. There wasn't much pork on it at all and it wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. Generally the meat on a banh mi is bursting with flavor and this was definitely lacking for me. My pickled veggies were awesome and fresh and the bread was crusty and chewy. I had a couple of bites of the gent's and it was much better. I was jealous that I hadn't ordered his! The Grilled Pork had much better flavor but it was still a bit skimpy on the meat. We were both hungry again in less than two hours. I will definitely go back, because I feel that maybe I didn't order the best they have to offer. As of now though, I definitely like the banh mi at Heoya and Vung Tao better.

A must try in this city! I usually eat two sandwiches and a green waffle, the waffles are the best kept secret on the menu! Prices are great, I've filled up a few punch cards for a free sandwich!

This. Place. Is. Awesome. I didn't know what to expect with this place, but was greeted warmly by the man at the register and he was extremely helpful and patient. I had the #5 (the bulgogi). So, so, good! Delicious, tender meat, an awesome baguette and the carrot, onion, and cilantro garnish on top was perfect. Had for lunch today and am sad I'm not having for dinner...and breakfast tomorrow...you get the point :) Go. You won't be upset. Next time I'll double the meat because it was so good!

Wow! Delicious sandwiches at very reasonable prices! Please franchise to Iowa City! I had the #1 as per recommended and it was awesome. Tangy, spicy, a little sweet, yes yes yes! Hadn't had a bahn mi before coming here but now I know what the fuss is about!

Banhwich Cafe is a wonderful, delicious place on the corner of W and 27th in Lincoln that just this August. I came here with friends on Friday, August 31st to have some bubble tea, and it was delicious. The cafe also serves some (very reasonably) priced food that I did not try, but would like to sometime soon. As for the bubble tea, I give it 5 stars. Although a little pricey ($3.75 each) the serving size is generous (lasted for an entire hour of sipping) and they have an excellent selection of flavors. ALSO, something I didn't realize is that they actually use the real fruit that you order to make the bubble tea. I just assumed they had juice concentrates or blends that they blended together to make the bubble tea. I ordered a watermelon bubble tea and at first they thought they were all out of watermelon so they were going to ask me to switch, but then they found some and I actually watched the woman at the counter chopping up a watermelon and putting it into a blender. Because they use real, fresh (not canned) fruit and offer some exotic flavors like lychee and starfruit, I think that the $3.75 price is justified. That being said, it was delicious. Like I said, the food was EXTREMELY well-priced. They had croissants and other pastries, as well as something called a Vietnamese waffle which was like a waffle, but green. I'm curious to try one someday. I would imagine it's an EXCELLENT place to stop for lunch or on a break because you can hardly eat cheaper making lunch yourself. It also has a nice ambiance: very creative-looking orange light fixtures and nice, calm shades of purple and green walls. Very busy the night I went there, about 7:30 PM, but absolutely no one was kept waiting. As most Lincolners should know, Banhwich Cafe is located in a very Vietnamese/south Asian neighborhood and there are several other Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants nearby. Banhwich Cafe is exactly what it claims to be: a cafe that is great to stop for a snack, refreshment, or a light meal. Nothing too heavy on the stomach (or the wallet) here, and all is delicious.

This place is ridiculous. Ridiculous in the good way. The menu here has basically all my favorite foods service in my favorite form, Bahn Mi. I cannot believe the crazy-large selection of ingredients: everything from Vietnamese meatballs and pate to Korean Bulgogi and Chinese Barbecue Pork. All prepared fresh in front of you. The sandwiches are so incredibly flavorful and fresh. The decor is playful and fun with quirky furniture in a very clean environment. A welcome change from some of the other Vietnamese places in Lincoln that offer questionable sanitation. The menus are giant flat screen TVs, which after thinking about it, I've never actually seen anywhere in the US before. Very innovative. And it's also very innovative to bring a Bahn Mi cafe to Lincoln. I'd wager to say that compared to the sandwich shops I've been in NY, Chicago and LA that Banhwich Cafe does it fresher, cheaper and better than anyone else. Ladies and gentleman, I have found Bahn Mi perfection.... and it's in Lincoln Nebraska!

What a great find! Nice, clean and bright setting. They made a vegetarian sandwich and .... YUM! I loved the spice mix, that on the first bite, I'd think 'Oh, this is going to be hot.' Then it would turn almost sweet, bringing awareness of all the textures. In the sandwich, as well as flavor. Had some luscious looking French desserts and croissants, but I didn't have those treats.

I've got a serious banh mi addition, and it's worsening. I think I've been there 4 times in the past 2 weeks. It would be 5, but they're closed on Tuesdays. The service here is friendly & quick. The space is small, but they have space for 8 to dine indoors, and a couple tables outside when the weather is nice. The banh mi is fresh & delicious, and they have lots of flavors of boba tea. The guy behind the counter was quick to make recommendations for me when I asked - he also mixed a couple of the boba tea flavors and used jelly (not tapioca balls) in my boba tea - his suggestion. YUM!

I have been wanting to try Banhwich cafe for quite awhile now and it didn't disappoint. This place is awesome. The sandwiches are delicious, the service fast and friendly and the atmosphere cozy and fun.

Although I'm a huge fan of pho, this was my first experience with banh mi. It was absolutely delicious and I wish I lived out here because I would go all the time. I had the grilled pork and it was very tasty, though my sister got the bulgogi and I was a bit jealous of how delicious it was. The Chinese bbq was ok but nothing special. We got bubble teas and they were all great as well.

  • Tim H.

I really wanted to like this place and was excited for some banh mi, but this just didn't meet my expectations. The French bread was dry and the pork filling rubbery. I know this shouldn't be compared to banh mi che cali in garden grove, but nevertheless I am still disappointed. Also stay away from the milk tea and Thai tea boba as they just taste like milk and sugar. I took two sips of my milk tea and threw it away. I was probably better off buying some generic milk tea mix at Asian market.

Went to visit friends in Lincoln, and was told about this is a great Vietnamese sandwich place. The atmosphere is great, with enough indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating. The service was quick and friendly. They make everything fresh and to your request. I have tried their Cold Cut Sandwich, Bulgogi Korean Banhwich, and Sesame Lemongrass Grill Beef Banh Mi. They didn't disappoint. Everything tasted fresh, as well as flavorful. After finish my sandwich there, I couldn't help but to order more sandwiches to take home with me. Next time I'm in Lincoln, I would definitely stop by this place again.

So far, this is the best way to spend less than $5 on food that I've ever found. Ever. Ordered the Korean BBQ sandwich at the suggestion of the very friendly staff. I was stunned at how good it was. I left feeling healthily gratified but not stuffed silly. The place is very clean. Only complaint is that the legs of the table we sat at had a way of crowding my feet. Really, that's the only complaint I can think of, and that's nothing to lose a star over. They have a punch card reward system which I fully intend to abuse. Will definitely be coming back regularly!

If you haven't tried a Banh mi sandwich, you must, and at this clean and attractive little Vietnamese joint, located west of N 27th Street about 1.5 blocks north of Vine Street in a new strip mall. Choose a meat (pork, chicken & beef) or veggie sandwich prepared on a fresh French baguette. These sammies come with a nice kick, so be ready for spice. It's not overpowering, though. Try the green waffles for dessert with an iced coffee (made with condensed milk). Wow! So good, and it's all very reasonably priced. They even have a few outdoor tables.

This place is awesome! My husband tried it for lunch and called me and told me to pick up some sandwiches for dinner the same night. So far he's tried the grilled chicken, pork, and beef. He liked all of them but his favorite was the chicken. He figured at this rate he'll get through the whole menu in less than a week. ;-) I had the vegetarian sandwich and it was fantastic. Great bread, the veggies are fresh and delicious, sauce is tangy. They do use jalapenos so if you don't like it spicy be careful of the peppers.

It's not good to be living so near this restaurant since it is siphoning off all my money! The baguette bread is the right amount of crisp, the vegetables are fresh and spot-on. My favorite banh mi is still the pork one, which is bursting with flavor. I'm not a big fan of their teas, which I find either lacking in flavor or way too sweet, but with so few places in Lincoln offering these, I can suck it up. What gives them a 5 star rating is their innovation- they are constantly coming up with new flavors of both banh mis, bubble tea flavors, and additions to the menu. They also have a rewards card (digital and physical card), which makes me feel a bit better about my addiction, and WiFi. I'm really excited to see where they'll go in the future, and as long as they maintain the quality of their sandwiches, I'll definitely be along for the ride.

I absolutely love this place. The chicken, pork, and beef sandwiches are all fantastic! Next time, I need to try the vietnamese meatball and also the chinese cured pork. Very fresh ingredients, pretty fast prep time, very little waiting. They've really gotten into their rhythm over the past three months - it gets better each time I go! Very clean facility, modern design, clear & well laid menu board, lots of fresh raw ingredients on display by their bubble tea station. Excellent location, too! Good off-street parking and conveniently accessible from most parts of Lincoln.

We would eat there 3 times a week if we could. The meatball (#7) with double meat and a taro bubble tea. That's the ticket.

We love Banhwich!! I pick up sandwiches and bubble tea on Wednesdays for my office. My graduate students love the low prices and delicious sandwiches. The restaurant is clean and bright. I love the staff because they are so helpful and friendly. Just tried the Vietnamese waffle -- delicious!! They also have sandwich cards -- Buy 9 and get the 10 free. What a deal.

I agree with Nikki B. I have begun to wonder if they're lacing the #1 sandwich on the menu with some kind of undetectable drug because I'm hooked. It's a great, tidy, quick place to grab a wholesome, fresh, and inexpensive lunch near campus. They also have some interesting pastries (sweet and savory), but buying those would require me to forgo the #1 sandwich, so it's not going to happen.

Awesome bahn mi with bubble tea made with real fruit! Try the #1 or the meatball!

We had two sandwiches - the #1 Sesame Lemongrass Ribeye and the Vegetarian - a green waffle (why is it green? we don't know) and a jackfruit bubble tea. The price is very reasonable - everything is under $5. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, with sweet pickled daikon, carrots, jalapeno, and cilantro, a crispy baguette and warm protein. The green waffle was just the right amount of sweet. Neither of us were fans of the bubble tea. Maybe it was the flavor or the strange bubbles or just that bubble tea isn't our thing, but that doesn't damper our enthusiasm. It was a great lunch stop, and we will certainly be back.

I've had some of the best Banh Mi in New York and California, and although this place does not warrant the title of being one of the best, it does however have some excellent qualities for the small community of Lincoln. The banh mi menu is surprisingly large and has pretty much everything I crave for. The boba is still a work in progress but still tastes pretty good (unlike some other places in Lincoln), I talked to the owner recently on one of my often visits and he told me he's perfecting and expanding his drink menu for the summer which is excellent. I made a few recommendations to him on a few flavors that I've seen to be very popular when I was in Cali, and he's making them available on the menu this week 4/12/2013, it's certainly nice to see that the owner is willing to listen to his customers. I'm glad Lincoln has a place like this and I would continue to support it as long as they continue to put in the effort to keep up the standard of this place

I tried the grilled pork bánh mi and the cold cut with pate. They were both excellent. I prefer the cold cut because it had some type of mayo. :) The staff is friendly most of the time. Just depends who helps you. Some staff look too serious. Oh and don't forget to get your Vietnamese iced coffee :) it is pretty strong coffee with a lot of ice. It's just perfect for me.

This is a review for lychee bubble tea from banwich cafe in Lincoln Nebraska. Stopped through on our visit to Nebraska based on the great reviews. I was curious to try the bubble tea in Nebraska and it didn't disappoint! I had the lychee bubble tea with kiwi bobas. The consistency is more like a smoothie, but they do serve the more traditional milk teas. I was pleased to see that they used really lychee in the drink. The bubble tea was really good! The kiwi bobas were recommended by the cashier, and it added something special. Service was friendly and fast. I didn't try any food but it all looked really good and the place was busy, so I'm assuming the food is decent. All in all two thumbs up for this place!

This is a small little shop that has really good food for awesome prices! I've had the Thai shredded chicken and the bulgogi sandwiches. Both are extremely flavorful and less than 5 bucks each! It felt like there was more meat on my chicken sandwich, but both had very yummy and fresh vegetables that complement the meat perfectly! The "Bubble tea" is nothing like authentic bubble tea, they're thicker and more like smoothies. With that being said, they're pretty good for smoothies!

Kind of a hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant in a strip mall. But wow!!! Their pork belly banh mi was delicious!! And you must try the Vietnamese waffles. It's kind of a spongy fluffy green waffle so worth it and slightly sweet!! They have a few seats inside and quite a bit of seating outside.

  • Jillian R.

FYI very limited seating inside, but there are options outside. I ordered the #1 (grilled beef) in a lettuce wrap. It was pretty tasty, although I probably should have gotten it on bread so that it felt more substantial. I was left wanting a bit after I finished it. Everything is fairly cheap (under $10 for the entire lunch). The lemongrass dipping sauce was spicy, but pretty good. I had the peach bubble tea to go and, as my first bubble tea experience, I found it to be quite delicious. I didn't think I would like it, but wow was it good... and filling. Everything was good, but I wasn't blown away. I don't think I would go out of my way to go back, but it was my first banhwich so, overall success.

Awesome little place! Make sure to get the frequent buyer card. It adds up quickly and now I am ready for my free sandwich or bubble tea. Bubble tea... Some people love it some hate it, usually because of the gummy pearls at the bottom. Problem solved! They are the only place I know of that offer the popping bubbles which are so fun and addictive. They literally Pop When you bite them and have different flavored ones, prefer mango but they coffee and a bunch more to fit in with your tea flavor. Green waffle- I'm pretty sure it would be on my fiancées last meal list, it's that good he will go out of his way to get one and it's so worth it. Sandwiches are great, cheap because on the smaller side. If you have a big appetite get two and try different ones! I've heard the spam Is epic.

Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! Great sandwiches in the Vietnamese/French tradition - Asian Flavors on a crisp baguette. So great to have a first rate Vietnamese sandwich place in Lincoln. I had the Thai shredded chicken sandwich, my friend had the teriyaki chicken. Both were well seasoned, with fresh cilantro and pickled vegetables. I also ordered the squid salad, again fresh and flavored with sesame, rice vinegar and cucumber. Dee-lish. There will be many more visits. Great food, clean, bright and brisk service.

Just go eat at Banhwich. Best sandwiches in town, period. You'd be stupid to eat at Subway, or Doozy's, when you have this gem only a few blocks away.

Delicious bubble tea, amazing sandwiches, unique flavor. We stopped here on our way out west because it's a short distance from 80. On our way back, we had to go again! We love the Korean Golgogi the best.

What a cool place! I left Lincoln 7 years ago this month and when I lived there, there were a lot less cool places like this in town. Due to some roads under construction, I decided to drive from Omaha to Manhattan via Lincoln. That meant I had to check out some spots in Lincoln, so I yelped for banh mi and here came Banhwich! It is in a plaza with other Vietnamese restaurants and a market. Upon entering, I knew it would be gluttonous but decided to order a few different menu items to try. There are many banh mi flavors to choose from but the cashier told me massaman is his favorite so I got a tofu massaman banh mi which came with avocado and mushroom pate (plus the carrot/daikon, cilantro, cucumber and jalapeno). The bread was very good and the curry tofu very unique and delicious. I also ordered a pandan waffle (and gave a fourth of it to my neighboring table to try since I was getting full), plus almond milk boba tea. The waffle is made with rice flour so it is crisp on the outside and has the texture of mochi on the inside...mm gooey! There is free wifi and a loyalty card. All 3 of my items amounted to around $10, so I left happy and overstuffed. I will return when in Lincoln!

Call me a sinner, because I lust over the Banh Mi offered in this tiny cafe. I met my dining companion for lunch here yesterday, and ordered the vegetarian banhwich. The taste of this nugget of goodness has led to my refusal to branch out too much over their menu, as it is a food item that haunts my dreams. The veggies are pickled, and the acidic taste of the vinegar pairs nicely with the fresh cilantro and tofu. I ALWAYS add the egg to my Banh Mi, as it would be silly not to. The flavors on the banhwich are solidly crave-able on their own, but try dipping it in the Thai cilantro sauce and it's positively orgasmic. I had a side of Kim-chi, fermented to stinky perfection. The food in this joint is consistently delicious, and I would have given it a 5 star (block?) rating if the seating options and ambiance were a little more thoughtful. There is an unused bar in the back, and the table inside offers few options when the place is busy. The bubble tea is made with fresh ingredients, but I have never been a huge fan of blobs of tapioca in my drink. I would encourage everyone to try adding the egg to whatever you order, as it adds to the explosion of goodness in every bite. I would like more options for side items to accompany the Banh Mi as they only have squid salad or chips. The price of the fare is very reasonable, and I'll be back soon to indulge.

This place is amazing! The price is very reasonable for a very tasty sandwich. My favorite is the pork, it is sweet and savory and has a burst of flavor from the slaw on top. If you come here you MUST get a smoothie with boba. You will not regret it. I come here almost every week to get my fix! The sandwiches may be a little small for some people so if you are super hungry might get two of them!

These sandwiches are tasty and cheap. If you like spicy and flavorful sandwiches, you should check this place out. For first-timers, Banhwich Cafe serves "bánh mì" which is the Vietnamese term for bread. In the US, bánh mì is synonymous with Vietnamese sandwich. The sandwiches are a byproduct of the French colonial era when the French introduced the baguette and the ingenious Viet people developed these delicious sandwiches. The most traditional of bánhmì would include pork liver pate and a selection of various Vietnamese luncheon meats and topped with cucumber, pickled carrots, and cilantro. As bánhmì means bread, the bread has got to be good. Banhwich Cafe's bread is on point. The toppings or filler are delicious, though they differ from the Bánhmì Sàigòn, which I am so fond of. Those with an aversion to capsaicin could partake in the Korean Bulgogi sans jalapeño. While those like me may love the Thai Spicy Shredded Chicken with extra jalapeño and sriracha. My only wish is that they had some more sides or periodic specials. That said, I've never left hungry after finishing off one of their sandwiches.

Oh I love going to Lincoln with one of my best friends to splurge on delicious Vietnamese foods. If you're going to try Vietnamese food, you cannot forget the famous Banh mi. Seriously, you will not regret it. Alright, so I stuck to the standard Banh Mi with Thit Nuong (#3) and Banh Mi Dac Biet (#4). They also have some other unique Banh Mis offered here including Bulgogi Banh Mi, Curry Banh Mi, and Vegetarian Banh Mi just to name a few. Also if you order 9, you get a free 10th Banh Mi. This place also offers a punch card to keep track of all the delicious banh mi that you order, so you can work your way up to that free 10th sandwich. These delicious sandwiches come with your standard juicy, sour pickled daikon and carrots, crispy cilantro, thinly sliced cucumbers, and spicy jalapenos. I asked for my sides in a separate bag because I was taking them home and they offered just enough to fill up these banh mis! My parents also said they were good and they are picky banh mi lovers. Will definitely come back and recommend anyone to come in and try this establishment! OH and don't forget the green waffle!!! It's so so so good...

Amazing place!!! The sandwiches, bubble tea and green waffle all lived up to what we expected having read the other reviews. 1 sandwich was enough for a meal (with a bubble tea and half a waffle) were enough of a meal. On my next visit I'd love to try the lettuce wraps. I we had something like this in Denver!!!

I live in Omaha but was visiting Lincoln and needed to find something to eat. What struck me first was their location. It has a sharp corner spot so I decided to go in. It has a very clean trendy environment. I've never had Banh mi before and they helped me pick out a sandwich and offered a waffle for frer. The sandwich was fresh and delicious and the waffle was great! I will be making trips from Omaha just to eat here. I highly recommend eating here even if you've never had this food like me! Oh, you have to try the bubble tea! You'll understand why of you do.

I've never had a bad banh mi here. It is refreshing to have other options than subway or jimmy johns in North Omaha. Their squid salad is to die for as well. I'm not a fan of boba tea because of the sweetness and texture, but they have Coca-Cola products which is a plus in my book as it seems almost all eating establishments in NE have turned to Pepsi. The have some lovely cream cheese deserts for those that have room for more indulgence. I would love to try a fried egg on my my banh mi next time just for the additional flavor punch.

Casual and cool atmosphere. Come here for lunch or to grab a bubble tea. I have been here 2 times now with the promise of many more times in the future. All sandwiches that I have tried have awesome flavor. Go with the Korean BBQ if you aren't sure. It certainly won't disappoint. Seating can be limited so keep that in mind if you go during peak lunch time and plan to eat there. There is outdoor seating though which can be nice when the weather is nice. Probably not ideal for large groups due to lack of seating but for a quick lunch this spot can't be beat. Check it out for something unique.

Who would have thought there'd be an awesome bahn mi place in the middle of Lincoln, NE?! This place had awesome sandwiches and boba drinks at a reasonable price. Grab the grilled pork bahn mi and a taro boba.

After hearing and reading so many good reviews, we had to stop and check this place out. It definitely didn't live up to the hype. We tried four different sandwiches. Two (the Thai spicy shredded chicken and the Masaman) were OK. Different from what you'd find elsewhere, but not spectacular really. The other two were less interesting still. I was surprised how little flavor the sandwiches actually have, to be honest. Probably our expectations were just too high. So I wouldn't say don't go, but I would say don't expect it to be earth-shattering.

Pretty darn good. Fresh, cheap, friendly as heck. Definitely will go back soon. I had the Number one beef sandwich. Kids had waffles and eggs they were in heaven. My wife said She loved spicy Thai chicken wrap. We had a bubble tea for dessert and it was awesome too.

thai spicy chicken sandwich was super good. the cilantro sauce was prime . You can't do better for 4 bucks. Bubble milk was also pretty good, though a little light on the tapiocas. I'll be coming back here.

These sandwiches are well-balanced, flavorful, and they definitely hit the spot when you're looking for something a little bit out of the ordinary. They also had a very impressive list of bubble tea options. Mix-and-match them for your favorite combination.
