Definite pros and cons here. PROS: * As soon as you walk in, the décor is kind of nifty. Windmill/weather vane in the front, along with the tin roof and exposed beams give the feeling of being inside a barn or silo. Pretty cool if you ask me, and definitely themed for Nebraska. * Loaded potato appetizer: really good. The potatoes were cooked through, soft in the flesh, and crispy on the skins. Not sure how they did it so perfectly, but they were spot on! The pulled pork BBQ topping, cheese & bacon, and ranch dressing were all equally delicious, though a tad dry. * The mild BBQ sauce was pleasantly sweet, very flavorful, and slightly smoky. I'd definitely use this in the future. * The burger was very fresh, extremely juicy, and perfectly cooked to order (medium rare), which is not always so easy to find. CONS: * The bartender was inattentive, which was surprising given how few people were actually in the place. * The burger bun was dry and borderline stale. Not a pleasant feeling or flavor at all. * The TV had only one feed on all four screens. Kind of hard to request another show if someone (or several folks) are already watching something else. * Music was a little too loud. I think some of those cons are a little weak, but they still added to the overall impression. The bartender could have been friendlier, too, but she wasn't the worst I'd ever had serve me. Overall, pretty good food and worth a repeat visit. Not a landmark site by any stretch, but if you're in town for a few days, give it a go. I hear their steaks and other BBQ offerings are darn tasty, too.

Can be an enjoyable experience but has quite a lot of room for improvement. Good food, I especially recommend the Pulled Pork Nachos as well as the Husker and the Kitchen Sink Burgers. Although they routinely run out of items, such as their ribs and brisket, and have a greatly limited wait staff on duty limiting their available seating. All in all I will be back there, but my expectations will be very low.

Tonights visit was a disappointment. I first visited this small chain back in Fall, 2014, and I looked forward to returning to the heartland to try it again. Upon arrival (9:00) I noticed that the place was fairly empty, whereas the nearby Applebee's was packed...its either a warning or a sign you found something good....it was the former. I sat at the bar...the bartender was happy to see me UNTIL I said I only wanted water...then, his enthusiasm died, despite me saying I wanted dinner. Sooooo....I ordered salmon, a salad, and veggies.... As I sat, the staff was exchanging tidbits of gossip and discussing after work plans...I was waiting for someone to expose their junk and kick someone, like in the movie, 'Waiting.' After a short time, I asked the bartender if I could get my salad first...he eventually got it. When my salmon n came, it was dried out and chewy...the veggies were just miah mashed pieces of carrots, green beans, and some red and yellow peppers in a 50/50 blend of butter and water. During dinner, I was pretty much ignored as the banter and closing side work continued, until I had to ask for a refill of water and the check. I GET that a last customer can make everyone groan...but still, you do your job. The other night, I ate at the restaurant in Kearney pretty late, and everything was just fine (I had BBQ also)...Solo...perhaps it was just a long night. I am going to give two stars, and hope that next time, they earn at least 2.5...

So so. Good smoke but bad use of it. Meat was dry. I had the ribs, brisket, and chicken. They serve their BBQ dry ("naked") and that is fine if the meat is really good. It wasn't. The ribs and brisket had great flavor, but was dry enough to need a sip of a drink to eat which kills the flavor. The brisket was also tough. And the chicken was just flavorless. Seems like better cooking conditions (longer and wetter) would benefit everything nicely. Could be great on a good night. Waitress was friendly but didn't refill soda and seemed to be going through the motions. Maybe it would be better on a good night but as I was there on a Saturday night I was surprised to see how dead it was... Indication...?
