This is the second time I've been here in a week and tomorrow I'm coming for brunch. Excellent service. Angie remembered me and made me feel right at home. The food is outstanding! Tomato basil soup was creamy and delicious. Cesar Salad was crisp with just the right balance of dressing, croutons, and shaved parmesan. The mushroom risotto with grilled asparagus and squash is to die for.

We were fortunate that their sign caught our eye. We stopped in on a Sunday right before close. The staff was friendly and the place is very cozy and unique. The quiche and pastries were legit. It has an interesting menu that we are looking forward to trying. It is worth a stop.

"Montana fine dining" is far from being an oxymoron - and we're not just talking about grass-fed bison, huckleberry scones, or elk osso bucco, either. There's real range when it comes to eating out, and upscale bistros with a downhome feel are definitely part of that equation. More often than not, however, these spots are in accessible college-town locations like Missoula, Helena, or Bozeman or else in close proximity to tourist-friendly places like Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, or Flathead Lake. What's great and possibly unique about Mission Bistro is that the location is quaint - small town Stevensville - but the food and drink punch above their weight due to the experienced staff who have worked in larger urban settings, like Seattle, and have brought these culinary talents home to the Bitterroot. By combining the techniques - French and new American primarily - with locally-sourced food and regional wines (Washington state Cabernet, Oregon Pinot, etc.) and featuring daily specials (fish, soup, appetizer), the MB offers memorable meals in an inviting setting. Not comfort food, exactly, but comfortable cuisine, for certain. On our visit, the fish special was broiled grouper (not local, obviously) with local mushrooms (chanterelle and lobster), there was an heirloom tomato caprese salad, and the soup was watermelon gazpacho. Other mains were satisfying crowd pleasers, like Dungeness crab cakes, bacon-wrapped beef filet, and an andouille and Gulf shrimp pasta (the chef-owner once worked on a Mississippi riverboat and the Cajun vibe must have been absorbed along the way). Desert service includes excellent French press coffee (dark or medium roast) from Hamilton's 5-star artisan roaster, Big Creek Coffee, ice cream from Big Dipper (a beloved Missoula institution), and various in-house creative specialities. The setting, the service, the daily specials, and the Stevensville small-town vibe all add up to an exceptional experience. I'd compare MB favorably with the Three Forks Grille in Columbia Falls - another surprisingly good foodie find for the adventurous traveler, and it reminds me too of the amazing Silver Grille Cafe in Silverton, Oregon - although they have Portland food-lovers who can make the drive down more readily. If you're in Missoula or Hamilton, though, or even parts of Montana further afield, I'd suggest a Stevensville side trip for the food here, for beer at Blacksmith Brewing, and - if it's a Saturday in summer - some bread, honey, and produce from the Hutterite farm stand near the gas station. It's a small place. But a big one, too. Too bad Lewis and Clark missed out on the Bitterroot Valley's food renaissance, but that's their loss, not yours.

What a find in this small town! Since Stevensville is very small, this gem is within walking distance of everything in town, or a 25 minute drive from Missoula. Recommended by the hotel owners, we found it as friendly, affordable, and offering delicious food as reported. The first night we ordered Risotto with mushrooms and linguini in a prawn sauce. In a word, amazing!! And the portions were so large we took some home. The table next to us ordered the salmon and said it was equally delicious. And, they have Bhakti Chai - one of the few places outside Boulder CO, where it is produced, that you can find it. The dessert list was extensive, and what we ordered was yummy. Caramel pot o' creme was creamy, lightly caramel, and smooth; cheesecake with huckleberry sauce was outstanding. Both nights we walked to the Mission, and it was packed foodies. Some were local, others tourists like us. Obviously, the locals have found it, too. Always a good sign!

My wife and I recently visited Mission Bistro on the recommendation of several friends and family. Looking at the prices on the menu we were a little apprehensive..... But before we had finished swallowing our first bite, all doubt melted away! The food was absolutely delicious! And the presentation perfect! Add that to the pleasant atmosphere and excellent, friendly service, it was well worth the price! Also, when we mentioned that it was our 14th wedding anniversary, they gave us a delightful dessert to share on the house!

This is such a cute place in the very much the way the first reviewer describes: cozy, neighborly; staff friendly. We may have just chosen wrongly on the menu too, or the stars were just not quite aligned. But the greens were heavy on heavily pickled beets. More importantly, the chicken in rosemary creme sauce was a bit rubbery- this because one could see this was not breast or even thigh meat, but drumstick pieces, and where it's detached, as many know, it can be that way. And even more importantly, the seared Ahi--which was pretty raw, yes--made my wife's stomach a bit upset, and mine really bad (well I ate 3/4 of it, she the rest). We were very much wanting to like this place, and others' experiences will likely vary, as we heard good things before going & while there. Oh well, C'est la nourriture riche.

Really outstanding experience all around. Awesome food and great warm service. My partner and I had the opportunity to eat here with another couple recently and we are very happy we did. Everything was quite good from start to finish. I would highly recommend this gem in the Bitterroot. I plan on taking more of my family back soon. Looking forward to trying more menu items. A+

Killer find. Never mind the details. Excellent food. Excellent service. Get a reservation. There shouldn't be an empty seat in the house, ever.

After hearing rave reviews from friends we decided to try the Mission Bistro. It is located in an old house in Stevensville, Mt. There is lots of parking. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated right away. The food, from beginning to end, was beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. We finished the meal with coffee, served in a French Press, and dessert. The Mission Bistro is now our top pick for the Bitterroot Valley. Terry A

This brother-and-sister-owned restaurant was great. We went one evening and just had soup & salad and wine. It was so delish that we made a reservation for the next evening for full-on dinner. That didn't end up working out, but we'd go back in a minute. The service is what you'd hope for--warm, friendly and on top of things.

I've eaten at Mission Bistro 4 times now, and on each visit the ambiance, service, and food have all been excellent. I love their emphasis on fresh and local ingredients, and their quirky assortment of dishes and glassware. On our last visit, my wife had the Dover Sole special and she raved that it was as good as anything you'd hope to find for twice the price in a major city. Great people, great value, and a much-needed addition to the dining scene in the Bitterroot Valley. Very highly recommended.

For a relaxing enjoyable meal this is a place to go with the family and friends. The food is different from the Montana style but very good and cooked with perfection. Would definitely suggest this for brunch.

What a gourmet delight in a small Montana town. Among our party of four every dish ordered was skillfully prepared, delectable, and of the highest quality. Fortunately we had the opportunity to eat there twice, once for dinner and also for the Sunday brunch. The excellent food is served in a converted farmhouse with a very casual ambience. Prices are reasonable for quality of food served. You won't be disappointed.

I recently enjoyed my first meal at MIssion Bistro and to our delight, we were treated like royalty. Angie makes sure you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door and Eric delivers savory dishes. We shared the butternut squash soup (yum), spring salad with marcona almonds (one of my favorites) and wild mushroom with spring pea risotto (creamy with plenty of flavor). As a vegetarian, I left very satisfied plus they will substitute meat alternatives when possible, good to know! Oh, I ordered the baked to order chocolate cake with an oozing warm center a la mode...good enough to make a grown man cry. We loved the subtle modern decor and the eclectic use of pretty mis-matching plates, they attend to all the little details that make for a memorable dining experience. This is one of the best meals I have had since my move to Montana from the great culinary world of San Francisco. Thank you Eric and Angie!
