    Never disappointed when I get to eat at a MacKenzie River restaurant. I have so many by me in Kalispell but was looking for a place to eat while here for work, and the friend that I was with had never had it, so I took her because I didn't want her to miss out on this wonderful experience. The food came out quickly and our server was quick and friendly. We were both just getting pizza and then going on our way so we ate fairly quick so as far as checking back on us then that was the only thing that took a little longer than normal but it was probably because we ate faster than normal and had super simple dishes. I ended up taking most of my pizza to go because I got a cheese, tomato, and basil pizza and sometimes tomato can upset my stomach because of the acidity and then cheese because I have an intolerance to it but I just can't stay away. I love that they have so many gluten free options. They also have daiya cheese as a substitute on your pizza, which is non dairy and the BEST vegan cheese you can find. It melts like cheese, it looks like cheese, and it tastes like cheese. Their options as far as toppings and all that go is incredible. They offer so much and it really is amazing pizza. I always get the gluten free which comes in one size which is the 10" I believe. It is enough for two but it depends how hungry you are. If you are sharing it with someone and you both are starving, I would recommend getting one of the pizzas and then splitting another meal or even appetizers. Mackenzie River has been good to me and I will always love this place!

    I'm in town just for one night and Yelped pizza establishments in the area. MacKenzie River Pizza Co had the best reviews, so I went with it. The pizza was delivered right to my hotel room which was awesome, BUT, my order was wrong. I had clarified my toppings (three) with the person on the phone twice. I was still charged for three toppings and only had two. The pizza tastes great, but I wish it had everything I ordered!

    Thai pie pizza. It's the cat's meeeeeeooow. Pizza with peanuts, mandarin oranges and red peppers-- you must try it. Get thin crust. And get a salad-- they have grape nuts and pears on them--- I get it with ranch because well, I love ranch. It's delicious. They have PBR on tap, too :) Great place, can be a little slow (staff is always awesome though), but if you're in a hurry they deliver or just get it to go. Slow down, enjoy your life a little.

    I am from Portland, we have amazing food available to us in Portland so it is tough to get much more than three stars from me unless you hit it out of the park. That being said, this place is SOLID. If I wanted pizza and I was in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to come back, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

    We love this pizza restaurant! Usually we go to Idaho Falls but we took a road trip on our Hogs to Bozeman! We started with the lodgepoles which are a cheesy breadstick they are delicious! The lil woman had the Cobb salad it was amazingly good. I had the Thai pie honestly one of best pizzas known to man with its peanuts & mandarin oranges it's just delicious!! The service is excellent the place was jumping great great restaurant!

    Got to go so I can't really be accurate as to the dine in experience. The pizza was good. We had a ol boy and it was loaded with pepperoni like the menu said. The pepperoni was great. I don't know where they got it but it was delicious. The service was friendly. This is a chain throughout Montana so I would give it another try!

    My first stop in Bozeman was MacKenzie River Pizza Co. It looked cute from the outside so we thought we'd stop in for a pizza. The pizza was great, however it took about 40 mins to get out to our table and the restaurant was not busy. Service was ok too.

    This place is a nightmare. Came here with a party of 8, 3 adults and 5 kids. The hostess was nice and said it would be 35 minutes for a table, we expected that since the place was packed. Well...an hour later, the kids were over it, we were still in the back waiting room and one douchecanoe waiter kept making comments about the restaurant not being "a playground". They finally seated us at 7:15 (we arrived at 6), and took our very simple order of 2 pizzas, a pasta and a salad. It took ANOTHER HOUR to get our food. You read that right, it took almost 2.5 hours of time to eat mediocre food at a restaurant that I already knew I didn't like! The waitress was nice enough but in the hour we were waiting for our food she told me at least 3x that our food was in the window so, no. Never never never never never never never ever ever ever ever ever ever again.

    Thai Hot Pie was awesome! What a great combination of flavors all wrapped up in a delicious pizza. Greek salad and Spinach salad were good and filling. The host was kind and quick but the service lacked luster. 3.5 rating

    We may have waited for 30-40 min for one pizza while dining in, but it was some darn good pizza. It smelled so good, I didn't wait long enough and burned my mouth because I had to take a bite! Half cheese, half pepperoni and green peppers. Yum! Ask anyone, I don't eat much. I ate three slices here! It was clean, our server was nice and if I didn't live a couple thousand miles away, I'd definitely come back!

    The pizza is tasty but it's nothing to write home about. Pesto cheesesticks tasted exactly like they sound and the wedge salad swam in bleu cheese. The service was friendly but slower than molasses in winter.

    Delicious! This Bozeman original has all of your favorite traditional pizzas, a large variety of signature pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, salads and more. They also have a gluten free crust that is quite good. I'm not a beer drinker, but they do offer many Montana beers. The decor is pretty neat to look at, and it's not overly loud. Sometimes it takes quite a while to receive your food, but a lengthy preparation definitely reflects the quality of the food in this case. They also have a pick up service if you prefer to take your food to go.

    This is my second time here. I loved it so much in Helena last summer that we decided to try it again today. We love it! Kids ate every bite of theirs and my father and I loved ours as well. Highly recommended!

    The service was a little lacking, it was not that busy but took quite awhile to get our beverages. Let me tell you the wedge was delicious, also the pizza had great flavor. If your not on a lunch break or in a hurry this is the place to eat.

    Been to MacKenzie River many times before and havent had any complaints. Good pizza, great local beers, an easy spot to have a casual dinner. I recently ordered my first takeout. Got the honey BBQ wings and a large flathead. The pizza was yummy and hot and fresh. The wings were quite terrible actually!!!! Drowned in a horribly sweet bbq sauce that lacked any real depth and soggy. Lesson learned: dont order takeout wings. Went back for dinner with a couple friends last night. Decided to branch out and try a special pizza: the Gyro pizza. Crust baked with mozz, and... small crusty hunks of gyro meat. Topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and tatziki sauce. The crust was sooooo dry, and the meat was very small and nothing like a gyro. Should have been sliced instead of tiny cubes in my opinion. Not enough sauce, to balance out the terrible dryness of the crust. Should have stuck to something tried and true. And P.S. please bring back the cajun style wings! Every other one weve tried is horrendous... thai peanut included! Terrible sauces.

    Without a doubt, this is the best pizza I've had in my entire life. The staff is upbeat and friendly, and the menu has an incredibly diverse amount of options. Everything here is good -- from the lodgepoles to the salads (try the Thai Peanut dressing) to the sandwiches, it seems like it is impossible to wrong here. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the wait can be long at times. Other than that, it is a great experience! The interior decoration is fantastic, and the food is to die for.

    The service here was really good, very friendly. I was having a hard time deciding between two pizzas, the waiter informed me I could do half and half and try both. Awesome!!! He also helped me complete my beer flight, which was quite delicious. The pizza was very unusual but good. I would definitely come back here.

    The pizza here is good. Traditional American style in my opinion. They have some more "gourmet" options to choose from as well and their salads are decent. Overall, it's not a place I'd choose to have dinner out with friends, the atmosphere is more for an older crowd it seems. Their pizza is filling and well made with quality ingredients. When there are events downtown like Music on Main they usually have a table out where you can by pizza by the slice, always piping hot and delicious. For traditional pizza, they get 4 stars. For atmosphere and selection, I'd give it 3. Would love to see them bring a trendier and fun atmosphere into the restaurant. Dining here just isn't memorable or pleasant enough to justify the price of eating in.

    Loved the gluten free pizza, loved the Server. She was busy but our drinks stayed full before we were even empty. I had gf pepperoni and loved every bite of it. My husband had gf with multiple toppings and he ate the entire thing! I would recommend this to anyone. Clean, bathrooms are nice. Great location

    From 8/21/13 visit: My dad raved about how good MacKenzie River Pizza Co. was, and when I confirmed they offer gluten-free pizza, I was in. Headed there for a late lunch with him & my aunt & uncle. Because all the MSU students were back in town, we had a short wait for a table, but it was worth it. I got the house salad sans grape nuts and really enjoyed it, though I can see how the grape-nuts would be a nice touch of crunch with the pear and fresh greens. For my pizza I got pepperoni, tomatoes and mushrooms on gluten-free crust with tomato sauce. As GF folks know, achieving a good pizza crust can be difficult. MacKenzie does a fabulous job, as their GF pizza has the right balance of crispy and chewy. I'm still not completely sure just how many mushrooms made it onto my pizza, as they integrate their toppings with the cheese in such a way that you can't see everything, but it was all so delicious and I was so happy to have pizza that I didn't care. Service was friendly, albeit slightly slow at times, but I think that had more to do with the time of day we arrived. Will definitely return the next time I come to Bozeman.

    They make a good pizza. Nice beer selection too. Five of us enjoyed a nice dinner here. We each had a salad and split two large pizzas. No leftovers. The thin crust was nicely done and they were generous with the toppings. Nice ambience, waitress was friendly and kept our glasses full. We really enjoyed the meal and I'd eat here again anytime.

    The lodge poles where very good but i wish i could say that about the sandwich i ordered. The sandwich had horseradish spread on so thick you could barely taste anything else. I ended up sending it back.

    This place serves decent food in a friendly and casual atmosphere. I ordered the linguini with meatball and my friend ordered the Cajun chicken pasta. His dish was way better than mine. The marinara they used on my dish was too sweet and didn't have any dimension. It was basically just tomato paste with meat mixed in. I did enjoy the breadstick and my side salad a lot though! The side salad came with pears in it, which was interesting and different. The best part about the meal was the Mack Lovin dessert - chocolate chip cookie cooked in a skillet and served with vanilla icecream on top. Yuummmm! I appreciated that our server filled up our water and tea frequently and was also really friendly and attentive. If I lived in the area I would give this place another shot, but I wouldn't order that entree again.

    Why I gave them a two star? I started out with one and then reevaluated, considering I did get the pizza haha, I was told by others that they were the best, that their crust was thin and crisp, my choice, well wrong, it's thick etc. My order request was; sausage, (got none), pepperoni, got more than I would ever want, it was covered with pepperoni, next request ;artichokes, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, with the exception of green peppers I had to search for any of the other items. I guess green peppers are cheaper than the others, next request was COLD tomatoes, why did I capitalize cold because I repeated that request and spelled out the word for her to emphasize cold and not cooked. She then asked if I wanted the tomatoes in slices or diced and I replied, your choice, wrong decision, the tomatoes came COOKED, notice the caps, hahaha and in slices you could have found them, by her choice of diced, I had to again, search for them. I understand that all of us are venerable to mistakes, but when it comes to my business, my customer is number one and failing them makes me number two or perhaps less as this place on my list.

    It seems like a bunch of 20-year-old space cadets run this place. I walked in at 8:15 on a Sunday night and a sign out front said please wait to be seated. So I waited for about three minutes and nobody even looked in my direction. Where the hell was the hostess? I took my business elsewhere.

    Good pizza, alright service, in a great location. If you're looking for an amazing slice of pizza to cure a hangover or slump, there are better spots in Bozeman. If you do head in, try out the the thin crust and a local beer!

    My husband and I LOVE the Thai Pie. It is seriously the best pizza we've ever had! Even better paired with a great local beer :) We love eating in the restaurant, but also love taking it to go! Highly recommend stopping in!

    I visited this restaurant while on an extended road-trip through Montana. The restaurant had a lively, warm and friendly atmosphere. When I came in, it was absolutely packed. I ordered the beer-cheese soup and a mixed green salad. The soup was just ok, but the vinaigrette on the salad was absolutely delicious! My only complaint was with the service--the waitresses who served me seemed a little distracted and were slow in delivering my food.

    We had a great meal here. Service is fast, friendly and accurate. Pizzas are made from top quality ingredients, prices are very reasonable - actually on the low side. The decor is based on outdoor activities, fly-fishing primarily. All in all, a great experience.

    When I lived in Montana, from '00-'04, good pizza was mainly a rumor; a story told around campfires by people from populous states. Granted, I was in Butte, which wasn't then and isn't now a friendly town for foodies and/or trendsetters (despite having two pretty good pizza spots back then). But Bozeman, thankfully, is different. MacKenzie River was discovered sometime during my junior year of college and was practically a mandatory stop thereafter. This weekend was my first trip back in 7 years, and I'm glad to say it's still worth the stop. First off, we were easily seated at lunchtime on a Saturday, even though we had 4 adults and 3 children in our party. The waitress brought the kids cups with lids without asking, along with crayons and paper. Solid work. She was also knowledgeable about the menu, and way above average with dealing with my gf's allergies (offering unprompted to make sure her salad was prepared gluten-free in a separate prep area -- WAY above average for a waiter far from fad-diet land). The menu is five star, with all sorts of interesting combinations available. I had the Stockman, which has basically all my favorite words together in series. Steak, bacon, pepperoni, sausage, etc. The service is five star. The music, from whomever their satellite subscription service is with, was fantastic, with Whitney Houston, Billy Ocean, and Elton John all happening while we ate. The decor and location are five star. The worst part of the whole experience was the pizza itself, which was merely delicious. Not the life-altering experience I had in college, but certainly a place I'd frequent if I lived near one. And it was nearly as delicious for breakfast the next morning. A strong four star pizza for the price, without question. And I was happy to see that Bozeman still seems to be a less expensive, less trendy, slightly more conservative version of Boulder, Colorado. A Boulder Lite, for people who own cowboy boots because they own horses, and not because they like the look.

    Many people who know me well would argue that I don't have a heart. My intense cynicism and general pessimistic outlook merely qualifies their claims. And honestly, I don't deny it. Because I know that my heart belongs wholly to MacKenzie River Pizza. I first came to MRP in April of 2011 while visiting Bozeman and Montana State University. MacKenzie River was one of the first restaurants we dined at in Bozeman and was, in all honesty, one of the reasons I chose to go to MSU. The experience was holistically phenomenal. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was cozy, and the food was...well...life-changing. Our wonderful waitress, Mikala (who has since become a friend of mine as my friends and I could be called permanent residents of the establishment), gave me and my parents the warmest possible welcome and showed us the kind-heartedness and general hospitality that is signature of Bozeman. As for the food, you really can't go wrong. Everything is made to the highest quality standards and is the closest thing to ambrosia. Of course, the pizza, being the focus of the menu, is hard to beat anywhere. My personal recommendation is for the Sequoia (on thin crust), a pesto pizza with artichoke hearts, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and pine nuts. But, one item that seems to be overlooked is the Cowboy Nachos. Get them. And get them with steak. The first bite was so outstanding I was nearly thrown into cardiac arrest. MacKenzie river is simply a fantastic place to be. After the first visit, MRP became my main gustatory tie to Bozeman. Every time there is any sort of occasion, whether just getting back to Bozeman after a break, one of us celebrating a birthday, or surviving another week, we choose MacKenzie River as our restaurant of choice.

    It is a nice space, and a great concept. This is the original location for MacKenzie River Pizza. However, it just was not as good as I remembered. I had the Rancher, and my friend had the pepperoni. There was nothing especially bad, but I expected more. I asked for my crust to be cooked "well done", and it was still on the doughy side. The meats, sauce and veggies did not seem to have a lot of flavor. Service was good. Overall, it lacked bang for the buck.

    I've been here a few times. I like the different varieties of pizza they have but unfortunately the pizza is just ok. I guess there is not alot of pizza places in Bozeman so people frequent this place but the crust never seems done enough and its just not that good. The service has been indifferent as well. On 2 occasions the server seemed to feel it a chore to refill the water glasses and it has seemed like they were not too interested in whether you had a good experience or not. Indifferent is a good way to describe it.

    Came here to have pizza and the staff were really nice. However, the pizza was crap! The top was well done while the dough was raw. The manager came over to make everything ok, but oddly she was steering us away from the pizza, as if we made a bad choice. She made about 10 other suggestions other than what we wanted. We said we just wanted what we ordered but cooked appropriately. She didn't seem pleased with our decision. Odd for a pizza company. The second attempt came to the table 50% better, but still not right.

    Very slow service. Pizza was good - not out of this world. I ordered the cheese ravioli and it came with over a cup of gloppy Alfredo/tomato sauce. I scraped it off and it was OK. The glop of sauce was pretty disgusting. We had a MR in Boise that used to be amazing. This is not the same. Decent place, but not great.

    I like the atmosphere better than the pizza. That's not to suggest the pies are tasty, they're good, just not jump up and down pizza good. I've also been to MacKenzie River Pizza Co in Missoula, and the taste was consistent. I appreciate that for multiple location restaurants. The beer selection is okay - was hoping for a bit more, but better than many. Our server, on the most recent visit, never brought me one of my beers, and after he realized it, he offered a complimentary beer. That was excellent service and honesty on his part. He was well tipped. Again, like most of my Bozeman staples, I will return.

    Blackbird Kitchen down the street lost our reservation, though we spoke with 2 people there to set up and confirm. So, as a party of 12, we were wandering the streets but decided to go to Mackenzie. Whilst Nick at Blackbird was aloof and kept saying "don't know what to say, we can't accommodate you," the folks at Mackenzie were friendly, empathetic and helpful. We were seated in 30 minutes, our server Amy was awesome and we feasted on 6 pizzas and torrents of beer. A wonderful evening.

    Great food selection. Can get pretty busy and noisy, so don't plan on talking much unless you have GREAT ears. We go for the food and the "outdoors Montana" ambiance. Friendly staff. Fun place. Local to us, so we visit often for both sit down and take out. We'll be back.

    My experience at MacKenzie River was terrible. From the mediocre food to the terrible customer service, a bad time was had by all. Our server lied to my face, the food was undercooked and served at the wrong time and finally they couldn't even get the bill correctly added up when we did the math for them... Seriously. My family and I will not be eating there again.

    MacKenzie River Pizza offers gluten-free pizza, so that got us in the door. The first 2 times we ate there my gluten-free crust came out real soggy in the middle, the second time I asked them to put it back in the oven a bit longer. My boyfriend (who does not eat gluten-free) always really enjoys his pizzas there. After the first 2 times I started requesting an extra crispy gluten-free crust right off the bat, the results have been hit or miss. Their ingredients have always been really good and they have a wide variety to choose from, as well as lots of great combo pizzas. Gave 3 stars because they actually have gluten-free pizza, their ingredients are good, and my boyfriend always enjoys his. Every time my boyfriend suggests to go there now though, I suggest we go somewhere else.

    Lodgepoles. Cheesy, bready, carb-laden goodness. I dream of you. But that's not all MacKenzie River has to offer--obviously the pizza is top-notch (read the other reviews), but the sandwich and salad offerings are also incredibly impressive. The salads are HUGE, and packed with fresh, healthy greens, all for quite reasonable prices. And the local beer selection--try one of their several wheat beers. It will not disappoint. But the thing that really bumps this place up to five stars is the service. I've never encountered friendlier or more attentive servers. Our server was well-versed in the different beer offerings, and so welcoming that by the end of the meal I felt like I had made a friend. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Bozeman.

    This is my go-to place in downtown Bozeman. The service is attentive, and chatty if you want to chat, informative if you need some advice about Bozeman, and very efficient. House salad with pears, grape nuts and creamy house dressing is light and refreshing, leaving plenty of room for my favorite small thin crust pizza. Local beers, great Arnold Palmers, wines are okay. Wine is reasonably priced, so we buy a bottle and take home the rest if we aren't in the mood to get silly.

    I love Bozeman -- and the local, community atmosphere that pervades it all. So my bias is to love a place that got its start here -- and seems to be a local institution of sorts. But I was pretty disappointed. The pizza is nothing special. The veggies are ours might have been fresh, but I could barely see or taste them. And the entire pizza was overcooked, with the cheese hardened to a dark brown. The crust had potential, but it was hard to tell. I loved the rotating selection from all the local breweries. Very cool. But the atmosphere feels make the whole place feel like a chain restaurant. I appreciate it being family-friendly, but the layout makes it impersonal. It could use a bar -- and a bit more character.

    The staff was great, our service was great, and the food was good and reasonably priced. We tried the logdepoles and they were tasty. And then we split a pizza, which was also delicious. We didn't go crazy, stuck with pepperoni, but we thoroughly enjoyed it! Our waitress was really outstanding and attentive even though they were busy, and even took time out to tell us where we could find huckleberry pie in Bozeman! I'll definitely go back if I'm ever in Bozeman again.

    I really enjoy the Pizza here. It is not overly greasy but just right. I usually have their natural grain pizza which is a bit of a thicker, kind of "pan style" crust. I have been here at least a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed. This is definitely comfort food pizza that is mouthwatering. Their salads are very good and the wine list is surprisingly good and a VERY good value. Don't hesitate to enjoy a pie on a cold snowy day! Service is also upbeat and timely.

    The service at MacKenzie River is fantastic! The servers there were sweet and very accommodating. My wife and 14 year-old daughter need to eat gluten free and my 17 year-old is lactose intolerant, yes we are a mess, and a pain in the butt. However, our server answered all of our questions and was very sweet to my family. This is huge for me! We found the entire town of Bozeman to be very gluten-free friendly! The people of Bozeman really are amazing. Many college or tourist towns are terrible to outsiders and often act put-off or inconvenienced and can act annoyed toward the people that bring money into your community, but Bozman was not like this at all! Great place and we will be back. The pizza and food at MacKenzie was very good. My wife said this was the best gluten-free crust she has ever had (out side of mine, haha) and the cheese and topping were very good. My only complaint would be that the crust needed to be more crispy. The pie is cooked on a tray and needed some time on a stone to crisp it up a little bit. Overall, it was a nice experience and we will go there again on our next trip.

    We made a quick, and I mean quick stop into Bozeman before our flights. We found this cute pizza place on main street after trying to eat at local brew pubs. Little did I know it was #1 on Urbanspoon in Bozeman. As our only stop for about 35min, it represented the town well. We each had a different local brew, and ordered two large pies: the Sequoia (veggie) and Stockman (all meat). The Sequoia pizza was not my favorite, but it wasn't bad. The pesto was too subtle or over cooked, and artichokes are not my preference for pizza. The crust/dough was very tasty though and well cooked. As you can see, I couldn't even get my camera out in time before half the pizza was taken. This was a meat lovers dream, steak, pepperoni and sausage. It's also a few bites short of a heart attack. The problem is you want to take those bite because this was one of the best tasting meaty pizzas I've had in a long time. I usually go with healthier options, but when in Rome (i.e. Montana), meat is called for. Even though we only had a few minutes for food before catching our flight, I'm glad we got a taste of the local scene (pun intended). If you are looking for a place to eat in Bozeman, I only have one experience to reference, but I highly recommend MacKenzie River Pizza.

    Went here to satisfy a pizza craving- it was highly recommended by the locals. If I had to judge this place only by the pizza, lodgepoles, ambience, and music selection, it would def get 4 stars... but the waitstaff was kind of shitty. When we arrived, we had to wait about 5 min before anyone even acknowledged we were there, and PLENTY of people on staff walked right past us. Once the hostess sat us down, we had to wait while two waiters argued in front of us about which of them would wait on us, and who got to take their break. Classy guys. The one we ended up getting seemed pretty pissed to be there and consistantly neglected us- we had to basically chase him down to pay our bill... But the pizza and breadsticks (lodgepoles) really were great. I had a saugsagey-pepperoni-hot pepper masterpiece, and my friend had some creation with steak on it. Both were awesome, and we really gorged ourselves. Maybe this is just the type of place for take-out... Side note: The music selection here is AWESOME. It's like 90's frat party music- "gangsta's paradise", third eye blind, destiny's child, shaggy... I loved it!!

    Delicious!!! The large salads are just as they say, LARGE! We had the Sequoia, very tasty, and they are very generous on the pesto. Lodgepoles w/ pesto were yummy too and decently priced! The service was great and very clean.

    Dropped in for a quick lunch after flying in from Texas to go elk and mule deer hunting. Place was not crowded but was met by friendly smile and quick service. Saw here on yelp had good reviews and asked the pizza chef behind counter what he thought was the signature pizza. Overall very good in that the topping were plenty, they did have a very unique crust, cant quite put my finger on the description...cornmeal..type flour...different. I would give it one more star for good service but the pizza just give me that wow factor.

    Group of five for lunch, ordered Lodgepoles, side salads, Willow Creek sandwich and a large Bell Rancher pizza. Good food, service was adequate, so all and all a good experience. It is touristy this time of year, so arrive before noon to avoid a wait.

    For a place that bases its reputation/name on pizza, you'd think they bring more to the table. The crust is pre-made frozen crapola. Little flavor. It is a very very poor quality pizza crust and diminishes the value and excitement of their toppings. Toppings are good and fun, but honestly people, you could do better by buying something from the grocery store. Sad.

    Decent pizza, long beer list from local breweries. The small pizza is really small but you can do half-half if you re not sure of what you want. Friendly service and cute place. Go there if you are bored with burgers and you want something a bit more healthy.

    Yum YUM YUMMM. Had some carried in pizza from here last night thanks to my verrrrry lovely friend and her darling husband while passing through Bozeman. The veggie pizza was fantastic. LOVED the broccoli on it, very fantastic. I'd love to dine in there considering how fabulous the pizza was carried out!

    I give this particular location 3-stars because I like the food. I really like the food at MacKenzie River. However, this location also has the absolute worst service. I have gone in here several times with family, friends, co-workers, whoever... and every single time, I get the absolute slowest service. Tonight it took 10-15 minutes for our drinks to arrive, after they were ordered. Then the check being picked up by the server was an ordeal - I get MacKenzie River is busy, but please hire more employees or something. This is just frustrating and makes me want to go elsewhere. UPDATE: I have changed this to 4 stars because of our service last night. For once, we had a server that gave a shit. Her name is Mikala - if she's working when you visit, you want her. She's by far the best server there.

    Hmmm, what to say? This place is pretty good. I sat at the little a bar where I could watch the kitchen staff work. Boy they worked their arses off. Each entree, salad, etc was hand crafted and the staff took pride in their work. The food was exceptional. I had a thin crust small pizza with a wedge salad. My waiter was apologetic about the wait but I wasn't in a hurry and the place was packed. I wish I wasn't driving after wards because I wanted to try some of the beers available. I had iced tea instead. I have to agree with others in that this place makes a good pizza. Try it and don't bitch cause this place is good. A handful of kids going to prom were there as were two high school sports teams. A lot of families and several young couples were also present.

    Good quality pizza; thin crust for me. Ingredients are fresh and unique. They have a great selection of tap beers showcasing local brewers. Service is quick and efficient, price is fair. Portions are on the larger side, a salad for one can easily feed two. Go and get your pizza on!

    I've been eating here since I was a kid, so naturally I like to keep going back. Ordered the Italian sausage lasagna, it was good but a bit too salty. We had our food delivered so it didn't look great when it showed up. I also ordered the Taos salad, I really liked this a lot, spicy but tolerable for those who don't like as much heat. I give service 5 stars, they are so helpful and fantastic. (I ordered 10/1/2012 at 630p) My theory on this place is that they are hit or miss. I've had great food here, and not so great. Give it a try, it's worth it.

    This is another place that most Bozemanites seem to really like but I can't figure out why. To me a great pizza starts with a great crust, and this place just has a thick bland crust IMO. The pasta dishes are good but not great. If you want a good pizza this isn't where I would go. They do have a good atmosphere though, very Montana Lodge.

    I'm from California and sadly there is no MacKenzie River here, but I am OBSESSED with their house salad dressing, both regular and creamy. It's this delectably tart and tangy salsa-based dressing that is just out of this world. I love it so much that last time my friend visited CA, I forced her to bring me four jars of the dressing (had to freeze them since they are perishable!) and savored them for a month....crying when I was done. :**( Needless to say I HIGHLY recommend the house salad, in addition to the amazing dressing they put grape nuts in it, which sounds a little odd, but give the salad just the right crunch (plus it soaks up that dressing ::drooooool::).

    It has become a tradition to stop here first whenever in Bozeman... great pizza, beer, and never had a really long wait. The lodgepoles help fend off hunger as you wait for pizza - and the beer has always been just right with the pizza. The service is hit and miss, but the food makes up for it...

    Holy crap, those are some mighty fine meatballs in marinara. I'm a half-Italian from north Jersey (mom's side), so I have a pretty high standard for a meatball. I can honestly say I'm impressed. Damn good marinara sauce, too. FYI: I ordered from the take-out/delivery-only location on 19th Ave; they delivered within 30 minutes to the Wingate. Sweeeeeet.

    This place is amazing. I went here with my family after getting off the plane. It was recommended to us by the people at the airport and it was a great choice. I had the Mackenzie pizza, thin crust, which was AMAZING! I highly recommend it. The clam chowder soup was good and the Cobb salad was okay but nothing special.

    Yuck. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered thin crust. It was not as crispy cracker like as it should have been. Gave two stars since hubby liked his. Everyone else had the regular crust. Perhaps the server should have done a better job describing the crusts. The thin crust is about 1/3 of size of the regular one. And those pics posted are the reg crust. Should have taken a pic of mine so you could see and you'd think "Wtf is that" as well. I love and appreciate all kind of pizza and this was just not good in any way.

    My GF and I were visiting Bozeman for a few days and, both being vegetarian, figured that we couldn't go wrong with pizza. We were a little wary because it was very busy and loud, but glad we stuck it out. We liked it so much we ended up eating lunch there the next day. The pizza was great (save room for dessert) and so was the service. The first night it was really busy, but our server, Kate, was all over it. Our soda glasses were never empty and we she always checked in on us whenever she passed by. The next day we decided to go in and try something besides the pizza, i got the veggie lasagna, which was great and my GF got the soup, salad, bread stick combo and loved all of it. The house dressing is a spiced vinaigrette that is worth checking out. Our server, Taylor, remembered us from the night before because he sat us and brought our drinks. He was too was great. I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to try more from the menu when I come back to Bozeman

    We discovered this gem eight years ago and I love, love, love it! They have fantastic pizzas that are unique and their salads totally rock. We have been to several in the state and all were great. I would pick the Bozeman downtown location over the one closer to the highway since it is bigger and has better atmosphere.

    Do yourself a favor and listen to all the other reviews, Pesto Lodgepoles. Don't get me wrong, its not the miracle food for the new millenia, but at less than $5 for an app, they are tasty morsel indeed :). My dad and I had the Stockmans pizza (buncha meat and we added mushrooms) on the sourdough crust. We wanted the deep dish but apparently they have pulled deep dish from the menu indefinitely (though its still on the menu). The pizza was definitely good, like the other reviews say, not the best pizza on the planet but a fine pie none the less and prices decent enough. Not sure if they'll have it when you go in but they had an Oatmeal Stout on tap that wasn't on the menu which I really dug.

    All I have to say is that this place is an oasis for the weary traveler on a 3,000 mile road trip across middle America. Fresh and local ingredients, affordable, and AMAZING. Fantastic selection of local beer focusing on Montana and Wyoming brews. A smart pizzeria with an open kitchen and friendly wait staff. It was packed on a Sunday night which is always a good sign. The house salad dressing is spicy and flavorful. A comfortable place to eat and recharge.

    By far some of the best pizza I've ever had. The hot Hawaiian is great! Very fresh veggies and combinations you wouldn't think of. They allow you to do half-half's, which let's you try more of their selection.

    Oh yes! MacKenzie offers broccoli as a pizza topping. It's a rare find, but an amazing one! I ordered a build-your-own thin crust with broccoli, spinach and jalapenos. It was delicious! I also had the house salad with Grape-Nuts and blue cheese dressing. That was one fantastic salad. And, the lodgepoles are yummy too. Overall, the meal was the best I had in Montana. I can't give this place 5 stars though -- the beer selection was a bit light on the dark beers. They have 3 IPAs but no porters or stouts. What's up with that?!

    Just gotta give a contrary opinion on the lodgepoles. They're soft white bread with fat and salt applied. Ugh. Pizza good. Salads okay. Ditto sandwiches. But skip the lodgepoles and the stomach lump they turn into.

    Maybe not the best pizza in the world but a nice location in downtown Bozeman. Nice local micro brews, I had a delicious Porter and my wife an Ale. We split a Flat Head Pizza (fajita chicken, bacon, mushrooms, spinich with an alfredo sauce) on a thin crust which was pleasent. I only wish they had a wood oven to get the crust a little better. The service was great and good value for the money.

    A great place to stop off on main street after a long day of fishing, hiking, snowboarding, sitting inside playing boardgames all day when it's snowing or whatever else it is that you do....Chill atmosphere, good friendly service, and probably the best pizza that Bozeman has to offer (although not amazing compared to some of my favorites elsewhere). MacKenzie has a pretty good selection of Micro brews, thin/thick/or deep dish pizza with a variety of toppings, some great appetizers and ok salads. I would absolutely start off with the pesto lodgepoles, they are delicious to dip in both ranch and marinara. We ordered both the deep dish "Thai Pie" and "Veggie" pizzas and to be honest I wasn't psyched about either of them. I think with the deep dish they skimp a bit on the sauce and over cheese it- crust is only ok too. I would move straight to the 15" thin crust pizza, which is brand new for this joint, but I think more flavorful and delicious- pizza done right. Overall it's a great place to hang out and grab a beer and pizza with friends on a Friday night!

    I really miss the place. If it's still available, I recommend the Athenian and also the Pesto Lodgepoles. This is ultimately my second favorite pizza place in the U.S. The first actually being Cal Pizza Kitchen, second MacKenzie River, and third Beau Jo's in Ft. Collins. As for MacKenzie though, I always go there when I go back to Bozeman to visit old friends and family. The price is good, the pizza is great quality and taste.

    As per advice from other yelpers, we tried the lodgepoles -- they were decently tasty and arrived quickly... The staff were all very nice and fairly on top of everything. Still, 3 stars because even after we were on the road all day and willing to accept even fast-food as "good food", the food here just didn't wow us. I've certainly had worse pizza and I'd give 'em another shot in a heart-beat.

    A perpetual must-stop whenever we are in Bozeman. Salads are delicious...and huge (Taos is my favorite for a little SW flare). Love the out-west décor...a nice change for a Midwesterner. A true "gourmet" pizza establishment at a mid-range price. Ah, I can still smell the place. It's a winner!

    MacKenzie River has the best gourmet pizza in town. Choose from three crusts, regular red sauce, pesto or white pizza and tons of standard and unusual toppings (broccoli, almonds, peanuts, Thai sauce etc). If you don't know what to mix up, try one of their creations. My favorites are the Sequoia (pesto sauce, sundried tomatoes and almonds) or the Thai Pie. For something lighter, try their house salad: an interesting mix of fresh greens, grapenuts cereal and pears. Delicious! They also have a wide range of sandwiches and soups. Delivery is fairly quick, or buy one pre-made at local grocery stores to cook at home. YUM

    Eaten almost everything on the menu. Recommend it all. Fun and creative topping combinations. Lodgepoles, pesto or pepporoni are excellent, staff is good-humored. Pasta's are awesome. Sandwiches and salads make for a great lunch. They are also doing a lot with farm-to-restaurant, with seasonal rotating specials based on local ingredients. Equally good for take out.

    Great pizza in Big Sky country. Its hard to believe a gourmet pizzeria took off in these parts, but Montanans are a misunderstood people. It probably didn't hurt that this is a college town, or that they do the classics well, either.

    Pizza has got to be one of my favorite foods, and MRPC never lets me down. Their pizzas are small but surprisingly filling, especially if you like meat. I got a steak pizza once that had real, thick, um... steak. Not some little thin strip of beef here. I've also enjoyed their hot hawaiian - my wife loves spicy food, and even she found the peppers a little hot, but that's a good thing. To seal the deal they have soy cheese for people who are lactose intolerant.

    If you want consistency and good food, go to MacKenzie River. While I love the joint on Main Street, I typically get take-out (after work) for my boyfriend and me from their sister restaurant off 19th or their other sister store in Belgrade, as it's down the road from our house in Gateway. I love the Longhorn; the ingredients are fresh and every time I go in there, the staff is smiling and offers help.
