It's a dive BBQ joint - and they do a great job! We were a group of nine - which filled about 1/4 of the dining room. Ordered a couple of family plates to share and tucked in. The BBQ - ribs, brisket and chicken - were great and the coleslaw and potato salad were off the chart. We walked out stuffed and satisfied! It's super casual and there's no table service. I will be eating here again next time I'm in Bozeman.

The first time we went there it was the best BBQ I'd ever had . We are from Salt Lake City , and this was a year ago. The only reason I wanted to come back to Bozeman was to go there !(although now Bozeman has become my 2nd favorite next to Missoula!) Anyway this time it didn't match up ! The brisket was a tad dry, the Mac and cheese had no flavor at all! But and this is a big but- those boys who run it are the best! They are so nice and ernest! They really want you to enjoy it ! So I'll be back next year, and really when I warmed it up in the trailer it was pretty good! It is expensive but well worth it when they get it right!! And really it still beats the crap out of Famous Daves!

Here is an update on my experience at Bar3bbq. The same day I posted on YELP I sent Brett another email. I was contacted shortly after by Brett. He apologized not getting back to me. While my original email did not bounce back to me he said he never received it. He said the staff at the 7th avenue location had explained my situation, but since I had sent him an email I didn't leave any contact info with them. So until he got the second email he couldn't contact me. Brett told me he has taken steps to see the situation I had would not happen again and I believe him. I had such good experiences there prior to the last than satisfactory one. I'm willing to give them a second chance. wr

Being from Texas we take our barbecue seriously. I was amazed to find wonderful barbecue in Belgrade Montana during a recent fishing trip. The sausage was succulent, the brisket was tender and tasty, and the pulled pork was absolutely the best I've ever tasted. All of the meets were well seasoned and smoked to perfection. The accompanying sauces provided a variety of taste enhancements. A must when passing through Bozeman or Belgrade. I wish we had one in Whitefish Montana. Hint Hint

We went having heard good things and were excited for some good BBQ. Unfortunately that's is far from what we got. Their sauces were good but the bottles were so crusty and sticky, who knows when/if they had ever been washed. Pulled pork could have had great flavor but was so dry that the only way to make it edible was to completely soak it I'm sauce. It was fabulous then...now if only is gone for a sauce sandwich, I would be in love with the place! Only reason for 2 stars is the staff being friendly and helpful. Definitely won't return.

Hey! I had a nice meal here a while back and it was very decent. I don't think I had ever had real bbq before and probably won't ever again unless, well - who knows. But I came here with a friend and he liked the place (being a local) and so I had a righteously good time with our meal. We got a couple of pounds of different ribs and some sides and I had to get the cookies for dessert. For sure, it was a several meal take away as well. Well, he took most of it away. I wasn't quick enough on that one. Fantastic food and so delicious. I would definitely go again if I were to swing through Bozeman again. Excellent meal and the staff were awesome. Great place.

Well we decided to stop here since we were going the area and I tried the BBQ ribs and they weren't cook at all they were very squishy and nasty tasting. The french fries were nasty and burnt. My parents had the BBQ brisket sandwich and it wasn't cooked at all very dried out didn't have a flavor to them. We had real BBQ before.

Visited first time, enjoyed a double meat smoked turkey sandwich and brisket sandwich. Great meats, perfectly smoked, great BBQ sauce selections. Also loved their fries and wife had fried green tomatoes which were beautiful round slices. Cozy authentic atmosphere, great service expediting orders and keeping up with the dining room and drive thru guests.

I believe this place has the best barbeque in Bozeman. My recent visit was filled with a Texas brisket sandwich. The meat is tender, the flavor is to drool over, and it's messy. I put some cole slaw on that puppy and it was good. The sides seem a little expensive but you get a great quantity. When you walk in your nose will sense that the food you're about to eat will taste the way you want it to.

The brisket was dry as burned toast. The BBQ pork was flavorless. Had better BBQ in SoCal.

Not a fancy place to dine in but has a drive in also. The smoked turkey is so good it could make your knees buckle! The ribs are great, actually I pretty much like everything here. You may wait a few minutes to get the food but its very tasty. The one thing I avoid like the plague here is the "burnt tips" sandwich. When they say burnt tips let there be no doubt its indeed burnt tips. When I say burnt I mean so badly burned its carcinogenic. It's like charcoal pieces in your mouth with the remnants of BBQ sauce. Other than that love this place. Family friendly so take the kids and throw a bib On Them(it will pay dividends later, trust me)! Forgot to mention the sauces here are superb and fries are perfect.

The half rack of spare ribs were great, but the mac & cheese and beans kept it from getting 5 stars. The waitress was attentive and the burnt end sandwich was tender and the spare ribs was also tender!

Probably really 4 stars but wanted to offset the bad reviews which I think were not warranted. I thought this place was great. I am a fan of Carolina and Low Country style barbecue. Had a pulled pork sandwich here that did not disappoint. Fresh baked bun, generous amount of excellent pulled pork, and fresh slaw. Meat was served without sauce the way I like. I added the vinegar sauce and it was about perfect. The sides I tried were fresh and tasty. Friendly service. Not too crazy about the bottled sauces but that's just me.

Wow! Obviously someone had a bad experience. I on the other hand had a great experience! We were in MT for a wedding and found this place right across the street from our hotel. Pretty small place and menu, but I found what I wanted!! Pulled pork sandwich and my bf got the trip tip sandwich. You get to choose the side you want: fries, coleslaw, beans, or cucumber/onion/radish salad. They were friendly when ordering and fast when making the food. You can add onions or pickles to your order self serve style. They also have their 4 different BBQ sauces right there on the table for you so you can try them all or mix and match. Our food was hot and delicious!! There was so much meat! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. There were about 4 other couples in the dinning room at the same time which is a bit small. The only gripe I had was it was extremely quiet!! I felt that everyone was enjoying their food, but they also weren't talking much. There are a couple picnic tables outside that you can sit at, but it was too hot for us. As I'm writing this, there are only 2 reviews....mine and a 1 star. So, if you're reading this and you're in Bozeman, try it out and see for your self. This is only 2 people's opinions.

I returned to bar 3 and had the same disappointments. Dry, cold brisket again. I watched as the cook squeezed every last ounce of juice from my friends burnt ends. This time the grits were literally gritty and undercooked and the mac and cheese was hard and rubbery. This on a Saturday lunchtime, when I would expect things to be freshly made. I watched with amusement as my date scrawled "this is gross" in the filth that the soft drink cups are sitting rim down in. When I commented on this to a staff member, I was met with indifference. In my last review I suggested you should go to Famous Daves, but I have noticed a sharp decline in that restaurant lately.

Smells of smoke as you enter. Tastes of outstanding as you eat. Feels of full whilst driving away. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the employees always smile and I'm always satisfied with my meal. Everything is served dry and each table offers 4 flavors of sauce (if you sauce that is). I like the pulled pork and smoked turkey. The cucumbers are a great side. On the most recent trip, one person in our group had the gut buster (can't remember the actual name, but it's the only on the menu that is a pile of everything with other stuff piled on). He loved it. Another in our party had the tips and thought they were great. I stop at Bar 3 each time I'm in Bozeman and haven't been disappointed yet.

Pulled pork sandwich was good as were the chicken wings and ribs. We also tasted the bottled sauces on the table sans the fingers. The original sauce won the day. The combo option comes with a drink and a beer counts as a drink. Happy that.

Friendly service Good pulled pork Moist chicken Nice selection of BBQ sauce Coleslaw was tasty, could use poppyseeds -St.louis ribs were cooked a bit too long. They weren't tough like shoe leather but the meat was not anywhere near falling off the bone. -potato salad is really really lacking pizazz. I suggest adding some coarse ground mustard, celery, and a bit of sugar (to balance the vinegar) slicing the onion thinner and cooking the potatoes a minute longer. Baked beans could use a bit more sweetness...and bacon :)

As a Southerner living in BZN I have to have my Q and Bar 3 is the place to go for me. Really enjoy their pulled pork sandwich and their brisket. Their fries, okra and other sides are awesome! The pickles are great and the Tennessee sauce is tasty! For the amount of food you get the price is right!

Great pulled pork, fired pickles and fried okra. Plus a good variety of bbq sauces they bring to your table. We usuallly hit their restaurant by the airport and have a tremendous lunch which kicks off a long labor day weekend of fly fishing. The waiters are friendly and keep a low key vibe which is what a BBQ place needs to have. Beers are good and I bet will get even better with time.

One of those places that can Be really good if you eat there when they have really smoked the brisket. On other days its so tough you can't chew it. Never Know what you will get.

I used to like this place but I feel like the quality has been going down hill. They have dry pulled pork but in a pound 1/4 is fat, not fun to pick through. I like the chili cheese grits and I really appreciate that they have sweet iced tea (real Iced Tea). But I don't know if I will be going back as they are expensive and I have been very disappointed in the quality the last couple times I have been there.

The pulled pork and fries are the best in town! A "must try" on your way through town

I live in Bozeman and Bar 3 is one of my favorite places. The ribs are always delicious and the fries are amazing. The reason for a 4 star instead of 5 is the prices, it's pretty pricey but well worth it in my opinion.
