Burgers are huge! I don't frequent here but the food is good. Best thing I've found is the Nana's Chicken Salad Sandwich the sweet bum is delicious. That's my go to meal. The fries are good too. Like the change down stairs way more space without the bar. I'm not big on beef so I will leave the other reviews for that. The chicken Philly is good. I'm a mombo combo regular wings, southwestern egg rolls and pow pow shrimp. There is more to offer than burgers. I'm always cold so the fans in high are uncomfortable. I've always said that the bread makes the burger. Mugshots has phenomenal buns and out of this world burgers. Tons of unique flavor combinations on the menu, including toppings like peanut butter, fried egg, and pineapple! The appetizers are delicious as well! Definitely stop in here for a top of the line burger!

There seems to be a lot of dissension in reviews here, which I don't understand. Mugshots has been a cornerstone is Starkville's poor dining scene for a decade (for me, at least). There's no better burger in town and likely won't be anytime soon. Mugshots succeeds by delivery consistency, friendly service and a fun, upbeat atmosphere to kids, college students, friends and families and kicks out half-pound burgers and fries that don't allow anyone to leave hungry. Sure, this has become a small chain in Alabama and Mississippi, but it hasn't lost value as it's grown and will always be a place to come for a premium burger with optimal toppings. If you want something cheap and low-grade, head to a fast food place. Burgers are more expensive here, but that comes with quality.

If there was a zero, this would get one!!!! Sorry for the late review, however I was way to angry to write this at lunch. We got there earlier today for lunch. We were told for our party of five, it would be 35-40 minutes. We agreed and put out name on the list. As time when on, after an hour of waiting I checked on our table and she said they were still waiting on one of the larger booths to open. I asked about putting two tables together, and was told they did not do this. However, I just observed them accommodating a party of ten, (that had not waited more than 45 minutes), we have now waited over an hour and twenty minutes. We were finally seated, we ordered our food before we ordered our drinks we asked for our server to put on our food first. After, then waiting over an hour for our hamburgers, that was then delivered barely room temperature, I was livid. I then asked to see a manager. I observed him going to the hostess stand several times, but he never came to our table. After some time I asked when the manager would be coming over and was told they were waiting you our meal was over and we were ready for the check. I again asked to see him. This time our server came back and said he was working in the kitchen and did my have time to come see us, and that she was authorized to deduct 20% off our tab. WHATEVER, any business that the manager does not have time to visit a unhappy guest, is not a business I will not return!!! I understand this was the day after game day and they were busy, but they are busy everyday!!! WILL NOT RETURN. Bad management, terrible host staff and not so nice servers. Business's need to be reminded they work the guest. The guest, do not work for them!!!

We finally decided to try this place. There was a lack of parking so we decided to get it and go. As we drove around to the back to pick up our food we seen them unloading a truck of frozen beef patties. The meat is not fresh which was a huge disappointment. We ordered the peanut butter bacon burger and the willy buger. They were dressed well but you could tell the meat had zero flavor. The amount of fries given to each burger were not impressive. One staff member was very helpful. The other 6 staff members stood around at the greeting podium as if they were lost. The building was very clean. The outdoor TV area was pretty cool. I'm not a fan of bars but they seemed very busy as you would expect for a new up and comming business. I would like to see fresh meat for the price we paid. We had two burgers and fries for $23.00. High price for frozen meat.

So disappointed tonight! I have had good experiences here before and I drove my family 20 min out of the way to eat here. We waited about 30 min for a table...no problem. We sat right behind the hostess desk for 8-10 min before the hostess turned around and said she was sorry everything was taking so long but she would take our drink order also she was sorry but they were out of kids cups (we had 3 kids with us). We told her no problem, the kids could drink out of adult cups. A few minutes later she returned and said they were out of all cups and would have to go find us some. Another 10 min pass and the waitress finally shows up and asked to take our order. We told her we had given our drink order to the hostess and then ordered an appetizer (cheese sticks), kids order (2 chicken baskets and peanut butter & Jelly), and adults order ( soup and salad, Gambler Burger). She leaves and comes back and ask is to repeat our drink order. Another 15 min pass, we get the attention of the original hostess and tell her we are still waiting on drinks. She walks directly over to drink station and 30 seconds later drinks are in front of us . We sit for a little while longer and the waitress shows up and asks us if we still want our appetizer because our food was ready and she forgot to put it in. We tell her no just bring the main course. The food comes to the table and the chicken strips looked like chicken jerky, completely over cooked and dry. I then take a big bite of my burger and the chilli on it was COLD. My wife said her soup and salad was good. I asked my 7yr old son how his sandwich was, he said "it's PB&J". Touché little man. The waitress brings the bill and apologizes that she forgot the app but not to worry she had it removed from the bill.....Thanks!

I always enjoy mugshots. The burgers are quite large, a half pound of meat each. In addition, the bun is a Hawaiian bread style bun being a little sweeter, which is great. The fries are beer battered and have a nice crisp. I enjoy them with the comeback sauce. Burgers are great, also the Bristol inferno sandwich is good for the poultry enthusiasts.

My burger was delicious. My fiancé's chicken sandwich was a huge breast but was a bit tough. Service here is great and that's the reason I'm giving it 4 stars.

I love this place. Every time I visit, the service is excellent and the food superb. The burgers are A class, quality meat and soft fresh bun, the fries are perfectly sliced and seasoned, and the value is unbeatable. The peanut butter burger sounds bizarre, but it really is an amazing taste combination. I'd highly recommend giving it a 'shot.' Definitely dine at Mugshots for a great meal!

Great place for a good burger. Our first day we wanted something quick just to eat since we were on the road all day, this place was a little pricy but good.

One of the best burgers I have had. My daughter got the peanut butter burger and it was surprisingly delicious. Everyone was happy with their food and there was more than enough, good prices and cool atmosphere in an old building downtown.

To my palette, eating well done burgers is about as gross as eating dirt. Cook meat till it's grey, smush it till there are no juices left and you have robbed beef of it's flavor. Sadly, Mug shots only serves burgers cooked to death... grey, lifeless and, well, like dirt. Now hear me, I know that geophagy is actively practiced around the world and is hailed as healthy, natural and even palliative but that doesn't mean it should be franchised. To compensate for overly cooked meat, they pile on lots of toppings that sound good but don't help the fact that the key component of the sandwich is ruined. Properly seasoned, properly cooked meat is the star of a burger not the bun, nor silly names on the menu, the beer selection or anything else. I swear, McDonald's and Burger King doesn't cook their meat this much. I've given mugshots several tries once here and a few times in Birmingham hoping to find the quality that people assure me exists. Sadly, I just don't get it. On this trip, I tried their version of a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was nicely cooked and dressed but their "hot" sauce was mild enough for infants. It tasted like straight up Texas Pete which is hot sauce for beginners and hardly the "inferno" their menu promised. Other diners in the group opted for the familiar grey and dry burgers. My wife asked for med well which is the coolest temp mug shots offers but it was still far past well, gray, dry and not at all what she had ordered. A walk to the restroom gave glimpse into a fairly dirty and unprofessional looking kitchen. It was 3:30 pm on a Friday so there was no excuse for the look of their kitchen. Back to burgers, if you like well done with nice toppings, sure head to mug shots and you'll probably like it. If you're into a good, juicy med rare or medium burger that's seasoned properly - stay at home and cook it yourself and avoid the frustration of this place.

It was interesting to see the story about how the founders of Mugshots got started. But somewhere along the way, this particular location has fallen flat on their face. We go in only to find out that their liquor license had been suspended for serving an underage person. When I inquired about this, the waitress said that this was a fairly regular occurrence. How the hell does this happen even once, let alone regularly? Management needs to be replaced for this reason alone. Often, you only need to check out the bathrooms of a restaurant in order to determine how that place really is. Needless to say, the bathrooms looked like nobody has cleaned them in a couple of days. It smelled terrible, paper towels were everywhere and it was 'dirty' if you get my drift. The door to the kitchen also happened to be open and I regret looking in as I walked by. I'm not sure I've seen a dirtier kitchen before (and I've worked in a number of kitchens years ago). It was a Tuesday and not very busy - needless to say, I'd hate to know what it looks like on a busy Friday or Saturday. While the food itself tasted well, this place is poorly managed. Maybe there is no management in place? I'm sure there are much better places to eat in Starkville and you would be well advised to steer well clear of this place.

The food: The burger at Mugshots is the most overrated food item I've ever consumed. It is 90% bread. Why do people like this?! To be fair, the bread is delicious, but if I want good bread, I'll just go find a bakery. The last time I ate a burger at Mugshots, I (and another member of my group) ended up taking the burger apart so that we could actually taste the meat. This is not to say this burger is terrible, it is just average, at best. Rest of their food is pretty decent. Service: Below average. Atmosphere: I find this place extremely uncomfortable. The chairs are all painful and hard and the place usually has a weird overly-crowded atmosphere--a mix of families and fratty college students. Drinks: Cheap pitchers, poor draft selection. Verdict: I'd rather eat at any of the other downtown restaurants. I cannot figure out why people endure a 45 minute wait to eat here. The only time I go these days is to share a cheap pitcher of beer on their very nice balcony.

Mugshots has lots of typical bar fare, but it is undoubtedly the best darn burger place in Starkvegas... the burgers are huge and juicy, and they serve them on a soft Hawaiin bun with giant homemade patties. I've had both the McDonalds and the vegetarian black bean burger, and they are both delicious. (Props for having a vegetarian option.) Like a lot of bars, you'll come here for the burgers, not the service, which is on a good day fair to middlin'. The servers are uninterested and would usually rather talk to each other than to you... warm Southern hospitality this ain't. But hey, if you're in the mood for a great burger, this is your place.

For Starkvegas, the food is pretty good. I had the Cajun Chicken Sandwich on a wheat roll. Overall, it was good. The bread was very soft and seemed pretty fesh. Bathroom is a 1 holer, which can create a wait if it's busy. Random thought, the ketchup was a generic off brand.

Of the two or three burger restaurants I've visited in Starkville, this one struck me as the best. I've come here multiple times and usually have a cheeseburger or a chicken sandwich. Sandwich sizes and sides are generous, and the service is rapid and friendly. This restaurant is in an old building downtown and has both upstairs and downstairs dining as well as a friendly atmosphere. I will definitely not be a stranger here!

Best burger in the state of Mississippi. Need I say more? Probably not, but I will elaborate for those of you who haven't experienced the greatness of a Mugshots burger. I miss the Trevor Burger and the Pato burger almost as much as I miss my friends from college. The Trevor has everything a normal burger would have, but has a thousand island delicious sauce on it. The Pato's greatness includes two, yes two, types of cheeses. Both are amazing. The burgers are straight off the gril and placed on an almost sweet-tasting bun. They are loaded with the right amount of condiments and your usual pickle, lettuce and tomato. They don't sound amazing, but trust me a Mugshots burger will change your world. If you're not feeling a burger, their chicken Philly sandwich (Named Hicks, I believe) is phenomenal, along with their chicken salad sandwich. Also, most of their appetizers are wonderful. Advice: Don't skip out on their beer battered fries. Order either ranch or comeback sauce to dip them in. You will thank me later.

One of the best burgers I've had in a restaurant in years. First time there, but will be back next time I'm in the area.

This place is always known as the best burger joint in town. It's fine, but definitely not my favorite. Every time I go it always seems like the service is slow or the food is just OK. The restaurant is definitely in a great location downtown and I love the outdoor seating, but if you want food that tastes great I would look elsewhere.

I can't quite figure out why no one has reviewed this place yet. It is the perfect college town burger joint smack dab in the middle of downtown Starkville. Anytime I come back for sporting events, I always make time to eat at Mugshots. I have not found a burger that can compete with their uniqueness and flavor. They have great drink specials throughout the week along with great live music. Also, on Mondays you can come in and get half off wings, and they have some great wings.

Good food, but overpriced. If you don't order within 30 seconds of seeing the menu, expect to wait 15 minutes to see your server again.

The burgers here are amazing and they have some very interesting combo's for them. There is always a wait at this place but I guess that is just part of the experience. The rest of the menu is very good as well. The service is decent, the atmosphere is bar/pub with TV's everywhere. This place is always packed and can get loud sometimes. The burgers are great and worth the wait but if you are in a hurry, look else where.
