Not healthy at all but so very very good that I don't care! The blue plate is great. I also highly recommend the burger. What really sets it apart for me is the quality of the meat.

I have to say my first visit was a downer. Part of the reason I'm only dedicating 3 stars at this time to this review. I was raving smoked chicken...at lunch...they were sold out. So I ordered beef brisket....also out. Finally they had pork I could have on a sandwich. The gal who too my order didn't seem to care if I ordered anything at all and was rude through lack of acknowledgement that half their menu was out and she didn't seem to want to offer me good suggestions in their stead. Instead of preparing me for what was sold out I was playing family feud with the menu throwing a guess hoping my next item was on the board. While I waited for my to go order I noticed behind the serving counter this horribly dusty (like a years worth from my attic kind of dusty) fan just hanging out behind the fresh bananas and in front of the kitchen serving window. It grossed me out so much I didn't eat my food, even though it smelled good. Upon the behest of a friend who swore they were good, I gave them a 2nd try today. I noticed the fan was cleaned and out front blowing air around (I was glad to see that) but they maintain their 3 star rating due to the poor attitude of the staff who took my order. He acted like the last thing he wanted to do was take my order and hear from me. As far as the food goes...it was great. The smokiness of the chicken was mouth watering and I was pleasantly surprised with some homemade freshly cut fries, my favorite! I was a little let down by the sauce they put in my bag. I thought maybe they'd ask if I wanted a certain kind, I usually like some spice, but it was a very thin bbq that had some good zest but was too watered down to appreciate on my sandwich. The flaw was homemade and fresh too, definitely a great side as well. For $11 There are definitely better BBQ places out there, at lunch I'd expect a better priced sandwich. It was humongous, but I couldn't eat it all. I would've preferred half the size sandwich for a few less bucks. The service was quick so if you have the moolah and are in a hurry with a hankerin' for BBQ on HWY 51, then it's worth a go.

My husband and I went here for dinner one evening. I really enjoyed the college football vibe inside, and they even had a couple of TV's to watch various games. Being from Alabama, I have very high standards for BBQ joints. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich combo with collard greens and fries. The fries were greasy and sad but still tasted good. The greens were delicious. I find that many places over salt their greens because they think it makes them taste good. Pig Skin seasons them to perfection and they give you a very generous helping. The pork was a bit on the dry side, but otherwise phenomenal. They give you a very large portion, too! I usually don't have any trouble finishing a pulled pork sandwich but I had to save almost half. I was impressed! Their sauces are pretty good, I do like their hot sauce best. For about $10 you can't go wrong here at all. Our server was super nice and brought us everything with a smile. I will definitely be coming here again.

Great pulled pork! And their house bbq sauce is the way to go!

We were craving smoked chicken (take out) Sunday and normally go to Jimmy's since it's closer to where we live. Jimmy's not open on Sunday so we gave PSBbq a shot. We were very satisfied with the chicken breast!! It is prepared with a dry rub which was very enjoyable (not too thick or too hot, just a nice medium flavorful taste). Look forward to trying the sides and other meats................and dining in.

Omg, how does this place keep its doors open? If you like a dirty restaurant, with slow, unfriendly service, combined with cold, small, over-priced portions of bland food, this is the hole to flush your money! I live in the area, but won't ever go back. These folks are totally clueless about how to run a restaurant! The best part of my visit was that the food didn't make me sick the next day!

If you're not from the deep south, let me educate y'all just a bit! In good ole' Mississippi, you can get what is called a "plate lunch" also sometimes called a "blue plate special" (Local's know where all these places are hidden and frequent them OFTEN) The Pig Skin has just that very thing. Not trying to take away from their barbeque...it's good too, but, oh my gossshhhh...the Wednesday Pork Chops are as big as a grown man's hand! Then, pile on some vegetables of your choice and even a lil' dessert...so good it will make you sing out loud. Wash all that down with some sweet tea....my my my. This is home-cookin' like your mama....no....no... like your GRANDMA made it! You can get in and out quickly because the plate lunch is dished out in the back of the restaurant from a buffet table by Patrick. You just point and say, I want some of that...and he will fix you up. It's obvious that he takes pride in his food. He SHOULD be proud. It's that good.

Ate here on a recent visit home, and on one previous occasion. The food is solid - good pulled pork sandwiches and fried okra, especially. One of our group got the buffet and gave that a thumbs-up as well. The only complaint I had was that when they brought the food out, my daughter's fried okra was completely burnt - very obviously, visibly burnt - should never have been served that way (by the kitchen OR the food runner). I sent it back and gave mine to my daughter while we waited for fresh. I started eating the fresh serving. At the bottom of the container was still the burnt stuff - they'd just poured out half of it and put fresh on the top half. Just seemed like such a cheap thing to do. But the part that wasn't burned was delicious. And nobody else at our table got burned okra, so it may have been a fluke. Staff (who look mature and more like owners than standard cashiers) have never been friendly on either occasion I've been, but it's a counter ordering place, so you don't have to interact that much with them. I would still go back for the food.
