Disclaimer: This place is nasty and disgusting. If I could give this place a negative 10 I would. My social group and I dined here today for lunch. As we were eating the chips and salsa one of my friends found a gum wrapper in the bottom of the salsa container. How freakin gross. We should've left right then. But we didn't.. Our mistake! Our meals arrive, however many of the orders were incorrect. As we were wrapping things up, another friend found a bug; which appeared to be a beetle in her ice tea! The manger came over to explain the bug came from the ice! Really? I don't think so. Oh there's more!!! As we were waiting for the manager to come back, we witnessed another waiter cleaning off the table near us. Instead of pouring out the unused salsa from the previous customer she poured it into another salsa container to make it whole again. OMG! I will never step foot back In this disgusting place and I advise you not to either!

I want to like Cozumel, but 2 stars is about as much like I can muster for this restaurant. It was late when we had wandered in on a Sunday evening, about an hour and a half before they closed.... And boy oh boy when it's almost closing time....no matter where you are... service mentally shuts down faster than they physically shut down, because they're ready to go home and they want you gone... So after we had to wait several minutes for someone to emerge from the back to seat us, we were served the typical complimentary chips and some rather sad watery salsa, and munched on those while waiting for our food. My sister ordered a quesadilla without onions, I ordered a taco salad with black beans no meat no guacamole... my mother ordered a taco salad with chicken... So our waitress did not write our orders down at all and with it being that late... I couldn't wait to see what we were going to get... So my mother's food was correct... I had refried beans on my taco salad and a scoop of guacamole (which I gave to my mother). I had to double check with the waitress to see if the refried beans were vegetarian, and she said they were so despite asking for black beans and the refried beans made a soggy mess of my taco bowl... I said a prayer for my tummy and ate my food... But my sister's quesadilla had alot onions on it, which she's allergic to, so she had to send her food back. Ahhh writing things down could be so helpful. I've been here a few times with my sister, and it's probably best to come earlier in the day for decent service (our waitress never came back, only to drop off the check)... The food is so so... and service is so... Wouldn't be my first, second, third, or even one hundredth choice to eat at after the last visit. I'm sure Cozumel has some fine points but I'm not quite sure what they are...

Great Mexican food! Great drinks! Happy hour is awesome! I ordered the shrimp quesadilla and it was soooo big that it covered one side of the plate! Yummy! I just wished the green peppers were sautéed more. Another thing I liked is I had shrimp throughout the WHOLE quesadilla!!! In every bite! I would definitely go back!

Delicious!!! Super fun and colorful atmosphere. I came here on a Saturday at a strange time (3:30 pm), so the place was very empty and appeared only one server was working. However he was very friendly and attentive, but his english was poor and sometimes I wasn't sure he was getting the drift of what I was saying. We had the buy one get one margaritas ($5.99). An average margarita, nothing to rave over, but the price was great. The chips and salsa were also very good. I ordered the quesedilla and it was fantastic!! Some of the best chicken I have ever had. I don't know what they season it with but I would love to know! They also have a lunch buffet for only 7.99, that I can't wait to come back to try!

Wonderful Mexican restaurant. I love this place. My two favorite Mexican restaurants in Jackson are Margaritas and Cozumel. Margaritas has more of a family atmosphere, and Cozumel generally has a younger crowd. They have a wonderful white cheese queso, so you should definitely order that. Their chips are fresh and warm and their salsa is very good. I always order from their vegetarian menu, and have had the cheese enchiladas, bean burrito, and chalupas. Loved all three dishes! The refried beans are excellent and the Spanish rice is good too. To drink, I ordered iced tea. It was always fresh, and the servers were prompt with refills. I really like this place, and would eat there often if I still lived in Jackson. It's MUCH better Mexican food that anything I've found in Houston. I highly recommend it!

Ah, the memories... Cozumel's with college friends on Friday and Saturday night. We used to come 5 or more in a group, were always remembered by the staff. Outdoor seating is ideal for large groups especially in parties with smokers. Along with their full menu of Mexican food, they also serve great margaritas and other mixed drinks. Their cheesy take on spinach dip with tortilla chips was always ordered for an appetizer before the main course.

Two things: 1. My fajitas didn't sizzle when they came to the table. 1. My server didn't come see me until my meal was done. I didn't need anything, but I felt like I needed to ration my drink because I wasn't sure when he would return. Other than that, decent Mexican with outdoor seating.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
