Toyo has a fun atmosphere with the little bridge at the entrance and the option between hibachi and sushi. I love their first lady roll, tuna roll, and miami roll. The hibachi is fantastic! They have an amazing clear broth soup. Their ginger salad isn't that great, but their seaweed salad is good. Their cocktails are all really good. Their yum yum sauce goes amazing with everything. The service is good. I always enjoy a nice trip to Toyo!

Toyo in Oxford is the best there is! I have been to many Japanese restaurants, even the one at Disney's Epcot, Teppan Edo, and Toyo beats them all. I normally have hibachi but will occasionally add sushi. Both are top-notch. The service has also been superb. I like having a Japanese chef, as Toyo has, and would rather have Japanese wait staff, although they do have other people there. The prices are reasonable as well. It is a bit more at dinner than it is at lunch, but it is not too much. I would suggest driving to Oxford just to eat at Toyo. It will be worth it. 04/14/15 - great, as usual. Toyo is really the only choice for Japanese food anywhere. I just wish they had more locations.

I've been here twice now and the service has been great both times. It's a nicer restaurant and is moderately priced, so it confuses me that so many other patrons choose to dress in t-shirts and sweats. Overall, a very good place for hibachi and sushi as the food is delicious, the service is very quick and friendly, the house sake is delicious and the portions are enormous. You will probably get enough food for 2+ meals easily. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting reservations if you plan to visit while classes are in session. Even on a weekday night in mid January, the place was packed, but during the summer it's much less crowded and a reservation isn't necessary.

Fun- located in a strip mall by several of the hotels you may be staying at \when you visit your kid at Ole Miss. We got a huge assortment of the usual sushi rolls plus, I had to have the Mississippi roll and our college age waiter recommended the fire dragon roll. Thumbs-up on both! Started with a comp. soup and a ginger salad. Very clean and full sushi bar on right side and on the left is the Hibachi table section. However, if you sit on the sushi side they will serve you hot hibachi food if you want.

Unbelievable. This used to be our fav sushi place in oxford. The sushi was horrible not seasoned rice. It wasn't sticky and poorly rolled. The soft shell tasted funky and fish was cut like an amature. The rolls weren't even cut evenly. The service was just as bad. We had to ask for everything. Chop sticks. Plates. Bowls for soy sc. Napkins which we never got. Fork for my son. Etc. when asked how it was we said not good the waiter didn't respond and walked off. When the mgr or owner came by we informed him he said oh I'm sorry you want another one. Anyway they need some competent sushi chefs and wait staff this was our last time at that place. In addition I went to sushi bar where the case looked hazard and not fresh. Fish wasn't wrapped and looked old. Wouldn't recommend sushi.at all. Horrible v

Better than Kabuki. Better than Kabuki. Better than Kabuki. Get my point? The service is better and the food is better. Everything is very consistent and the portions are enormous. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but it is really good. Get the fried Rangoon.

Good atmosphere, nice portions and very tasty. Defiantly recommend. Grandsons first time in a Japanese restaurant and they had a great time. I had the shrimp and calamari with rice and veggies and thought it was very good.

Heavily underrated sushi joint in Oxford. Have never had Hibachi but sushi has always been on point. Beautiful plating as well. Try something adventurous besides a California roll!

Good portion. Excellent service. Fun chef. As far as cook in front of you hibachi places, this one will work just fine.

BEST sushi in Oxford! BEST hibachi in Oxford. The service is fabulous, again the food is wonderful! The only thing I like better about Kabuki is the chili paste. Toyo does not have that and it really adds something great to my orders.

I am a regular here. I love all of the signature rolls. First Lady add cream cheese is still my all time fav. Great deals too. If you shop at Kroger you get 2-5 dollars off. Mon-fri they have a happy hour where you buy one signature roll get a smaller roll free. Great quality, good service, favorite place.

This place never disappoints. Before I moved away 2 yrs ago I would frequent this place once a week. Now that I don't live here anymore, I make it my duty to stop by Toyo every time I am in MS. I remember when they use to be called Nagoya. One of my favorite things to get is the Habachi Combination during lunchtime. They have awesome prices during lunch that can please any college student's budget. Also, you get quite a bit as well. The guy who comes and cooks your food is always polite. It doesn't matter which one it is, they really know how to treat people. I can't get enough of their yum-yum sauce. I don't know what is in it but, I have to have it in my rice and some on the side! When they ask if we want ginger sauce and yum yum sauce, I always ask for double yum-yum and no ginger lol! Its great to see that nothing (but the name) has changed over the years with this place. The level of service and food remain the same. Consistency. I love it!

Toyo (formerly Nagoya apparently) is my favorite sushi restaurant in Oxford! I moved here last month and I have already been to here 3 times! We haven't been disappointed with anything yet. We always order speciality rolls, I love the First Lady Roll. Everything has been very fresh and the service is very good. The decor is also very nice. There is a cute little bridge that separates the hibachi side from the sushi side. This place has lots of business, that's always a good sign. Lots of families too. I'm big on coupon clipping, they have coupons on the back of Kroger's receipts and in Invitation Oxford (local free magazine that you can pick up almost anywhere). Or pick up one of their business cards, it doubles as a frequent customer card on the back!

I was pretty skeptical about eating sushi in MS, especially being from So Cal. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I had an order of sashimi and a speciality roll. I enjoyed it. I think the name had something to do with "Mississippi" or "Hotty Toddy". Nonetheless, I will be going back again!

Hands down some of the best sushi I've had. I got the rainbow roll and the Oxford roll and both were excellent. Can't really comment on service or ambiance because I ordered take out, but the young lady that rang me up at the entrance was friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

Best in town. I'm addicted to this place so much I even get sushi take-out when I don't feel like sitting down in the restaurant although the seating and ambiance are nice as well.

Toyo is always my first choice to go for when I'm craving for japanese foods. They have great services. Foods are awesome! Strongly recommend toyo roll, first lady roll and their lunchbox for sure!

I go here all the time and am very rarely disappointed -and even when I am it is usually just that I don't care for the ingredients not the cooks preparation

Worst sushi ever...I couldn't even finish all of it. The crunchy crab salad was the only redeeming dish of the night. Even the miso soup was sub-par. I probably won't be going back.

The sushi here is excellent (on par with bigger city sushi restaurants) and other sushi servers in town should take notice. The vegetable roll is to die for. All of the rolls I have tried have been delicious - tasted and smelled very fresh. Great care seems to be taken with the quality of the food here. The staff were very friendly and attentive, better than most in Oxford. I have yet to try the hibachi options here, but I imagine they are great as well. Highly recommend!

My friends in Oxford took me to this place for lunch today and I must say that for a small town in Mississippi, I was quite impressed. Actually, I am amazed at the variety of restaurants they have here-- three Japanese places, an Indian restaurant, a Greek restaurant, a myriad of Mexican places, etc. All four of us ordered the lunch bento boxes-- chicken terriyaki, sushi, and tempura. Besides the main dish, they all included excellent fried rice, two pork shumai, apricot-type fruit, a salad with ginger dressing, and cucumbers smothered in spicy mayonnaise (didn't eat that). There was a great quantity of food in all the boxes, especially the tempura dish. The service was top-notch and they kept asking to refill my water (I drink fast), so of course, that was great. Also, I loved the decor. There were cherry blossom trees painted on the walls and ceiling of the front room, where the hostess's stand was, and the mural was absolutely beautiful. The prices were kind of high for lunch, but again, you did receive a good quantity of food.
